     This wasn't supposed to happen. What started as a nice little getaway with your friends turned out to become a stormy mess, literally.

     Ever since you started college, your friend group separated, each of you finding your path, some further away than others. So, to catch up on all this missing time, Armin proposed that everyone spends a weekend of your winter break in the remote cabin his grandparents owned. It was a neighbourhood build with cabins scatered around a forest at the base of a mountain and the whole porpose of it was privacy. The cabins were far enough from each other that it truly felt like you were on your own in the wild, with the added bonus of the experience of not having electricity. That implied having to mentain an active fire in the fireplace, wrapping yourself in as many blankets as you could and warming up with the help of alcohol, like they used to back in the day, you think.

     The firsts one to get there were you, Armin and Eren. You had to tag along with them because they were the only ones who lived close to you,  plus the fact you couldn't drive added to that need to tag along with them. The drive was horrible, the snow around the cabin was a nightmare to get through and shortly after you arrived, a storm broke through the area. As you helped the boys get the fireplace ready to finally warm up, you received phonecall after phonecall from your friends informing  you that the weather got too bad to drive through and the only way they could attend this getaway was by driving the next day. It was disappointing, you were really looking forward to seeing them, but the good part of this was that you got to catch up with two of your friends.

     "Oh, finally!" You exclaimed as Eren got up from his knees in front of the fireplace, letting you get closer to the freshly started fire. The flame wasn't big just yet, but at this point, anything would be better. The weather outside got worse by the minute, an angry storm pushing the snow around in the air, making all the trees around the cabin shake and hit against each other. You've never been in the middle of a storm like this, bad enough to stop all transportation, but not enough to make you fear for your safety. It was relaxing, in a way. This was really cozy in a way, it meant that your friends and you were stuck inside, together. Being with them made you greatful for having them as friends, nothing about either one made you feel uncomfortable. Probably being with them two is what made you feel so safe.

     "Thanks, Eren," Armin spoke up as he got closer to the flame that was getting bigger and warmer as the moments went by, "I can't start a fire to save my life," a chuckle left your lips, Armin was such a softie.

     "Yeah, you're literally our saviour, Ren," you smiled at the brunette, he loved it when you called him that, even if he never admitted to it. You got closer to Armin who was wrapped in a blanket, giving him puppy eyes until he lifted his arm and let you get under the blanket with him, wrapping it around your body and cuddling up to you. "Body heat is the best way to keep warm during this weather," you gave Armin a cocky smile and in response to that, he rolled his eyes playfully. You loved Armin, loved how kind he was, to you and everyone around him. It made him sad that this has turned out so bad and not more of your friends were able to join, but he was glad at least you two were able to. The initial plan was just for him to come a few hours early to get the cabin ready for everyone, but Eren insisted on joining him so he can have some help and you just tagged along for a ride.

     A few hours into the night and plenty of drinks later, all three of you were in front of the fireplace on the soft carpet, talking and laughing about all the memories you made along the years.

     "But do you guys remember when Sasha stole that sandwich from the cafeteria and shared it with the PE teacher?" You all three burts out laughing, it was the funniest thing Sasha's ever done, how she just shared the sandwich so she won't get in trouble, spoiler, she still got detention and still got only half of that stupid sandwich.

     "She was always so hungry!" Armin joined in on the conversation about Sasha, "She always asked me to have a bite, but always nearly finished my food." You missed Sasha and how goofy she was, especially when she was with Connie which was almost all of the time, those two could not be separated, they were like conjoined twins: same energy, same stupid ideas that would get them in trouble, same willingness to go to all extremes to make the other laugh. They never failed to bring a smile to your face.

     You rested your head on Eren's shoulder, feeling all the alcohol you've had this night start to affect you. You were getting a bit dizzy, your cheeks were painted a soft pink colour and you were just super giggly, which is how you tended to be when you were tipsy. "Oh," you exclaimed as you grabbed Eren's arm and moved your fingers up and down, feeling his arm under your touch. "Have you been working out, Ren?" you asked him as you let go of him, but you saw how proud he seemed to be.

     "I have been, Yeah," he said with a smile, "I'm surprised you've noticed." The fact that he wasn't pushing you away or telling you to stop touching you was a good enough sign for you to keep going. Moving from his upper arm to his hands, you grabbed one of them and compared it to yours, thing you always used to do growing up and making fun of him when his were smaller than yours, but you couldn't do that anymore. His hand was big, the veins on the back of it giving an creen more attractive look. Since when were you attracted to hands, let alone Eren's? You wouldn't help it, though, looking at his large hands really made your mind think of how they'd look in... Other places. The sudden fascination you had with him seemed to amuse him, so he moved his hand on your face, cupping your jaw with ease and rubbed your lips with his thumb. What you did nest could only be blamed on the alcohol you've had tonight, because without even thinking about it, you parted your lips and wrapped them around the tip of his thumb. "Fuck," he breathed out surprised, the eye contact you two made never breaking once.

     The tension in the room suddenly became ten times more obvious, especially now that you proved you have no shame when you drink. The thought of Armin being in the room and watching you both is what seemed to have brought you back, backing off from Eren's side, only to be met by Armin's chest pressed against your lack. "You're not going anywhere, princess," Armin whispered in your ear, guiding you closer to Eren. "You wanna do that again for us, princess? It's okay if you say no," Armin continued, keeping his hands on your shoulder and upper arms, politely waiting for your answer before he'd touch you anywhere else. Eren placed his hard back on your face, being on the same level of respect as Armin. You know if you agreed, there was no going back from this, but, God, you wanted it so bad.

     You resumed the eye contact you had with the brunette, but the lust in his eyes made it more intimidating this time. his thumb rubbed your check before making its way to your lips. You took a moment to gather your composure, but as soon as you were ready, you parted your lips and wrapped them around his thumb, gaining a satisfied look from him.

     "What a good girl," Armin praised you from behind, his lips immediately finding their way to your neck. The two of spoke together occasionally for the rest of Date Tech’s time at Karasuno; small exchanges like “are you enjoying the food?” and “who do you think is the best player at Karasuno?”. You learned that he didn’t speak much, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t expressive. He would nod with vigor at things that excited him, his face would scrunch up in deep thought at your questions almost as if he were in pain or how his eyebrows would raise as his eyes opened wider when Hinata talked about various other intimidating players. Their coach called all the Date Tech students to get ready to leave, starting an onslaught of whines and goodbyes from both teams. Aone approached you after saying goodbye to Hinata,

The train station was busy for a sunday, but the weather was a perfect temperature so you imagined everyone was out to enjoy the sun. The train pulled up and you hopped in, looking around for a seat. Your carriage was packed with people, particularly little children, so you walked into the next connecting carriage in the hopes of finding at least some space to stand. You saw a large group of girls around your age standing near to the carriage entrance which didn’t fill you with hope. ‘Just one seat, please just one seat’ you chanted in your head as if it would make a difference. To your surprise, there was actually 2 seats free further down the carriage, one either side of a man that occupied the middle seat with his head hung low.

You hastily sat down next to him at the train jolted and continued to its destination. You noticed some shifting next to you, as the man sitting down moved his legs away from you slightly. He seemed to be tucking himself in, as if to make him seem smaller, although even after the brief look at him, you could tell he was a larger than average man. Looking over you got to see a glimpse of the man’s face for the first time.

“...Aone?”

His face shot upwards, his eyes wide with surprise, he hadn’t noticed it was you. He gave you a hesitant nod before adjusting his eyes to look in front of him.

“um...how are you?” he seemed a little nervous so you did your best to break the ice a little. He took a few seconds to reply,

“I’m well, how are you?” 

“I’m good thank you! I’m glad I found a seat though, it’s way too hot to stand in a crowd of people today,” fanning yourself with your statement, you laughed, “I’m actually on my way to check out that new animal cafe that opened up, what are you doing out?” His eyes seemed to light up slightly when you mentioned the cafe,

“I was heading there as well.”

“Really? I was actually supposed to come with Shouyou today but he dumped me for volleyball,” you crossed your arms as you grumbled about your brother, Aone nodding along. “Well since Shou isn’t coming, maybe you can come with me instead?” you offered.

Aone’s cheeks turned pink, he had no idea what to do. You wanted to go to a cafe, with him? the first girl that ever sat next to him on a train wanted to go to a cafe with him, and she was a cute one at that. His brain was going a million miles an hour.

“Aone?” he snapped out of his glazed thoughts and gave a firm nod.

When the two of you reached the cafe, all that came out of your mouth was a mess of squeals and ‘aww’s as you scanned over the pastel interior. The cafe had some animals that guests could interact with, such as cats that roamed freely, as well as turtles towards the back in their terrariums and birds hung from the ceiling in large cages. You two were sat towards the back near the reptile section, however there were still a couple cats that perched in the area. As soon as Aone sat down, a pure white cat sitting opposite caught his attention. It seemed to give him a death stare, eyes fixated on him, its mouth turning up to show his sharp teeth and its back arched ready to fight or run. You noticed Aone’s attention was drawn to something and, by tense look on his face, you half expected there to be a criminal standing behind you. Turning around, you were greeted by the sight of the white cat that held its staring competition. You looked back and forth between the two of them before you realised the issue. Giggling, you held your hand out to the cat, who gave it a couple sniffs before nuzzling its head into it.

“He’s just like you Aone,” his head tilted in confusion as you continued to chuckle, “he looks so mean and scary at first but he’s really just a cutie, plus the white hair” you picked up the cat and popped him in your lap, running your hands through his fur. Aone was shocked, did you just call him...cute? He has never, ever once been described as cute. He watched as you carefully handled the animal, ruffling its fur and giggling as it purred loudly at your touch. Aone wanted to touch the cat too, but he held back, partly because he was scared the cat was going to try and intimidate him again, but partly because he didn’t want to take his eyes of the sight in front of him. You looked adorable, no, beautiful with the afternoon sun shining behind you and the permanent smile etched on your face. The two of you locked eyes when you looked up, Aone instantly looking away in embarrassment of being caught.

You got up from your seat, holding the white cat in your arms and took a seat next to Aone on the beach he was using. Settling the cat back into your lap, you grabbed hold of Aone’s hand and held it up towards its nose.

“Let him sniff you and get used to you a little first, when he knows you’re not a danger he’ll let you stroke him too,” you instructed in a calm tone. Your fingers were so warm against the back of his hand, so soft compared to his from years the last few years of volleyball. He could feel his hand shaking slightly as the cat surveyed him, but his nervousness certainly wasn’t directed at the feline.

“It’s ok, he won’t hurt you, I think he’s starting to like you,” ah, so you had noticed his uneasiness. You, then, guided his hand over the cat’s back, holding it firmly while brushing both of your fingers through it’s fur. The cat purred even louder than before, rested its head on Aone’s lap and closed its eyes. You both continued to stroke the cat through its slumber and enjoyed the tranquility of the moment. With your hand still on his, you realised how much bigger his were than yours - your fingers barely expanded over the back of his hand. There were a couple bruises are callouses, you guessed from training, and subconsciously brushed your thumb across them. 

“Seems we make quite the good team.”

    THE NOISES OF the cars engine knocked you out of your daze as you drove down the paved, sweltering streets of outer banks. The houses you passed a second ago were filled with perfectly trimmed bushes, the building decked in marble and stone with backyards for miles and a pool to finish it off. Whereas the houses you passed now were smaller and wooden, looking fragile almost. Lots of the yards were messier and lazier but they didn't have personal gardeners or the time nor money to do it themselves generally. It made your heart clench as you thought about how just a mile back you were living luxuriously while people over here slaved away to earn everything they owned. They weren't handed it like you were.

You were on your way to the cut to see your friends. But not for a casual hangout. You needed to see if they were okay. After the events of the night before you couldn't be sure what happened after you left.

Rafe has been involved in a fight between all the Pogues including you. No surprise there. He’d been the instigator of it all. It had broken out just you were all planning to leave and then the Cameron boy and the rest of his country club friends came over and joined in somehow finding fun in hitting and punching people due to the entitlement blinding their eyes from the truth that they were the same. Well maybe not personality wise in any way at all. But you were all human beings and yet you were pitted against each other from the day you were born. Only some succumbed to the amounting pressure of their kook or pogue parents to stay away from the other side others realised how petty and stupid it was.

It was always like a scene from west side story when the two groups were mixed and it never ended well. It usually left you to pick up the pieces of their messes. Or any mess of your brothers really. It had always been you. You taking responsibility for anything he did. Whilst he would go disappear and sniff a few lines before making his triumphant return you would be mending what he broke or taking the blame. Being younger than him didn't help with him manipulating you as a child. Rafe broke a vase and suddenly you broke the vase. Rafe stole money from dad since he blew his allowance on coke and alcohol and instead you stole the money. It had always been that way and by now you were used to being left in the wake of your brothers tyranny.

You always felt responsible no matter what happened. The events of last night where stuck in your mind like super glue and the guilt was filling up your lungs. It wasn't your fault. But at the same time it was. You didn't stop your brother, you let your friends get hurt by him. And they must hate you. Probably wish you'd never been let into their group.

The tires of your car screeched to a halt beside the Twinkie which occupied the space outside of the chateau. It was eerily quiet until you stepped out onto the grassy and muddy ground and heard muffled laughter from inside the wooden walls of the small fish shack. You could smell the after effects of a joint wafting through the air. No doubt it was JJ.

Once you entered the chateau the small creak of the screen door was enough to gain the attention of all the Pogues who glanced up at your presence. Only then did you see what was leftover from the fight last night. Kie looked at you with a small smile but you could see the light grazing on her cheeks and her hands that held the wooden neck of a ukulele. But yet she still seemed happy to see you. And then JJ who sent you a lazy smile as he inhaled more of the joint between his bruised knuckled fingers and the smoke covered his purple and yellow and green painted face but only for a second. Then John B who held a beer in his hands but you could see the blood surrounding his split lip and small cut above his black eye.

None noticed your small frown or look of quilt swarming you except from Pope who stared intensely and lingered on the downturning of your lips as you turned and caught his gaze. You could see the small cut beneath his chin and no doubt just like the John B and JJ he accumulated bruises on his stomach or arms. But he was wearing his shirt buttoned up whereas JJ laid shirtless and John B stood with his shirt open.

It hurt you the most seeing Pope. The multiple bruises and cuts adorning his normally smooth and unharmed skin. They were because of you. When Pope moved in front of you stopping you from receiving the backhand Rafe sent your way as you berated him to stop. He was the reason you weren't hurt. And you were the reason he was hurt.

Pope looked at you oddly as you just stood there letting out a sigh.

"Y/N?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowing in question. When you didn't answer again he stood up and walked over to you where you stood with your hands threaded together and rubbing in anticipation. "What's wrong?"

"I-I wanted to apologise to you last night."

The rest of the Pogues had turned their attention to you, JJ even stopped smoking for a second to listen. Your eyes were down trained on the wooden flooring as you spoke. Popes furrowed brows deepened as he looked at you slightly bewildered that you thought you needed to apologise.

"I'm sorry he hurt you guys. It was all my fault and I should have stopped him but I didn't." You let out a dry chuckle. "All of you got hurt and yet I'm perfectly fine." You shook you head and sighed. "But I'm really sorry."

Despite the nice welcoming from your friends you still had the deep rooted fear they would hate you after last night but the looks on their faces held sadness or confusion rather than anger or disdain.

Pope had seen you do this before with the group. Whether it be a Pogue and Kook fight or just a small thing when he'd been around your house, like accepting responsibility when Rafe forgot to pick Wheezie up from her ballet class or the time when you'd apologised profusely for Rafes mistreatment of JJ at his job at the country club. But most of those times he'd believed it to be a small courtesy of just being related to the problem or saying it like when you say you're sorry for someone's loss but it wasn’t like that with you. At least not this time.

You were apprehensive to look up to meet his but when you did you saw the boy let out a small scoff and you were ready for him to yell at you to leave and never come back.

"God! Stop apologising for other people! You're not the shitty one!" The Heyward boy exclaimed blowing a fuse which surprised everyone when Pope was normally the calm and collected one. Not all the time. But most.

And he wasn’t angry towards you but toward Rafe and even the smallest notion that what he did laid on your shoulders. You simply blinked in his direction not sure what to say at his outburst.

"Pope—" You started saying before you were cut off by the boy throwing his hands in the air.

"No I can't take it any longer. I can't watch you blame yourself and apologise for the punches Rafe throws or the shitty things he does. He's a bad person and you are not him. I don't give a damn if he's your brother, okay? Y/N you've never done anything wrong in your life and yet you keep apologising for everything he does. It's not your fault. I'll tell you a million—scratch that a billion times if I have to."

And once again you blinked but this time blinking away the glossy liquid in your eyes hoping to clear your vision. It was a different feeling having someone tell you it wasn't your fault for once. Popes eyes stared passionately towards you as you held his stare. You felt comforted just the the deep ebony colours of his eyes that focused on you.

"I still left you guys though after. I didn't stay and help." You told them and Kiara stood quickly, abandoning the instrument on the couch and placing a hand on your arm. You felt yourself sniffling. Pope moved his hand as well but lightly placed it in your own moving his fingers over your palm in circles soothingly. Letting you know he was there. Pope and you had definitely always been the closest in the group. If you ever needed someone Pope was always there. Whether it was someone to cry on or rant to, he was always there. And he definitely cared a lot about you as you did him.

"Hey, Y/N. You still tried to help us. That’s what counts. And we get it was overwhelming. We don't have to deal with psycho brothers. No offence." Kie spoke softly and you chuckled lightly at her comment through small tears that you were quick to wipe away.

"Yeah, Rafe is his own person and technically an adult he can take responsibility for his own shit." JJ spoke as he stood from his space on the couch joined by John B behind him.

"I still don't understand how the two of you are even related."

You shrugged a small smile growing on your lips that Pope noticed. "Me and Sarah both wonder that. A lot."

They all let out small laughs before Pope pulled you in for a hug and you nestled your head into his shoulder at his warm and enticing hold. He smelt of musk with small hints of aftershave and salt water. But most of all he smelt of home. Somewhere that would always be inviting and your one true solace from the world.

Note • Got my writing mojo back, kinda. And I used a prompt for this which helped a lot as well maybe too much. But uh so funny story I said it could make a cute blurb and one thing leads to another and I’ve written 1.7k words oopsies. I rambled too much and it’s trash and it’s also 2am so forgive me. But I need help I write too much unnecessary details in my fics and it makes it so long and probably boring. Anyway it’s✨trash✨but I hope maybe you enjoyed.

Main F/O forever and ever is Lance from Pokemon.

It’s been about… 18 years??? long time. A very long time. And only recently has TPC/Game Freak been feeding us Lance fans some very good content. bless pokemon masters. His tags are #my champion, #notes from my champion, #notes from my husband, #notes to my champion, #notes to my husband, among a handful of others. Because we've been together for so long, I'm not comfortable sharing him, but it doesn't mean I won't interact! It'll just feel weird seeing shippy stuff with others ._.;

I have some familial f/os, though the idol kids are more like “best girl/best boy” and I don’t have an self-insert or interactions with them, to be honest. But I’ll proudly post about them and gush over how precious they are.

Speaking of the kids, here are MINE. I love these kids so much and they mean so much to me and bring me so much joy to see and light and I can't even begin to words how important they all are towards my happiness, so you'll just have to look in their tags and see.

Otoya is my most precious idol son, i love him so much, i have so many pins and an itabag for him. pls do not harm the sunshine or i will not like you. at all. eiichi. His tag is "my idol son"

Rin is also my most precious idol girl! She’s super energetic and ADHD and basically her and Otoya are practically the same person. Both super sunshiny idol kids who brighten my day! Her tag is "nyan daughter"

Nozomi is actually more like a little sister to me, even though she’s the Big Sister of the group! She likes to tease the others sometimes, but she’ll also offer advice to the group when its needed, and guided μ’s together from the shadow. She also reads tarot! Her tag is getting changed from “nozo daughter” to “nozo sister”.

Mari! I just vibe with her. Also the whole pretends everything is okay and tries to be super cheery and obnoxiously shiny. Plus, we both like metal. I love her and I feel for her okay??? Her tag is "shiny daughter"

Hanamaru too! she was the first aqours girl i liked, bc we’re both bookworms, and then she fell out as mari fell in (and the anime reduced her to zuramaru and *judges yoshiko*), but she’s fallen back in the more i see of her in the mobile game and in general! and i realize that we both aren’t the fit type but if she can do all the idol stuff then maybe one day I can too!! i forgot her tag, it might have been "zura daughter" or "book daughter"

I love all these girls and Rin and Mari tend to be the top two bestest girls. as a result of them being the high energy cheerful type, I’m anticipating that Ai will be my best Nijigasaki girl. so far, yes. Her tag is "aidol daughter".

Caulifla and Cabba are my saiyan kids but honestly i forget about cabba a lot whenever i try to list my son(s). their tag is “my saiyan children”, as i cba to make separate tags for them when I don’t come across posts of them as much anymore

I’m sure there’s others that I’m forgetting, but those are the main ones. This is my bratty stepson, Silver. He’s more Lance’s kid than mine. We snark at each other a lot, and there’s not much a “push come to shove” level of care between the two of us so much as “Lance would be disappointed in us if we let anything happen to the other”. But he’s grown a lot since Lance took him under his cape wing, and has become much better liked, even at the Dragon Clan. His tag is “Tsundere Stepson”

My cousin-in-law on Lance’s side, Clair. She doesn’t like me, like, at all. It wasn’t until our mid-twenties that she started to calm down on the major dislike she held for me. She felt it unfair that I wasn’t being held up to the same standards that Lance expects from her, and held it against me, though she’d never openly say why. Just a simple “I don’t like her!”, followed up by her searching for excuses when asked why. We still aren’t friends, and aren’t the first person the other would turn to, but we can tolerate being around each other. She’ll only do favors for/with me if Lance is the person asking her to help. Her tag is “Tsundere Cousin”

Miss Honey, from SwSh’s Isle of Armor! She’s so amazing, so pretty, and SUCH A GOOD MOM. She helps take care of the Dojo and its students, she used to be the CEO of a trading firm, AND she will kick your ass. She also helps the students’ mental/emotional health, she’s just so caring and kind and SUCH A GOOD MOM. did i mention she’s a good mom? because she’s my mom. Her tag is “Kickass Mom”

Cynthia is a friend!!! I’d say from.... was it 16 that DP came out stateside? Anyhoo she’s a very lovely person, can be pretty wise, definitely a fellow ADHDer, we get along about myths and can hyperfixate on those a lot, and she’s a good role model/big sister-type friend! She’s very helpful to those that ask for or need her assistance. also she shipped me and lance and stuck her nose into helping move that along but that’s another topic for another day . She doesn’t have a unique tag yet; it’s currently “cynthia tag tbd”

Lastly.... Moving out of Pokemon and onto the last member of my familial f/os

Say hello to my Grandpa Nevin. He is an old dragon and an outlier and should not be counted a very wise old man. He has so much wisdom and importance to me (and Chise) that I don’t think I would have enjoyed the series or cried as much as I have without him. He’s so very very wise and important. I don’t know what else to say, man. He’s just says important things that hit right to the heart. A different outlook on things, a way to make you rethink. His nickname for me would be something like “Teller of Tales” or something that alludes to me being a writer. He doesn’t have a tag yet.

What A Time - Part 6

(HI omg okay so im sorry if i repeat gifs for certain chapters im just so lazy and cba to find more UGH okay anyways i hope u like this part, this story has gone crazy since the first chapter and im loving it?? im such a drama HOE UGH anyways ily BYEEE)

Word Count: 1,760

The drive back to the hospital felt like forever to Roger. Brian drove them all as he stared out the window the entire time. The moment he saw you again at that party was the moment he realized how badly he had messed up when he let you go. He was stupid for choosing anyone over you, because you are the one he needs. He lost you once, he will do anything to not lose you again.

Roger looks over to Mary and watches as she’s deep in thought. He knows she doesn’t want to be a part of this. She had too stopped talking to him after what he did to you. She didn’t want to trick or lie to you, just to make Roger feel better. But she does know how happy he use to make you. So maybe that could possibly happen again. You could finally be happy.

“What’s that?” asks Fred, staring at a box in Roger’s lap. Rog looks down and smiles.

“It’s a bunch of pictures of her and I. Little trinkets that I saved. Movie stubs, concert tickets, stuff like that. Thought it might help.”

Mary looks over and her heart softens a bit realizing that even though you were gone, Roger had kept every little thing he had of you. He catches her eye and she quickly looks away. He frowns and looks back out the window, holding the box close to himself. The car ride dragged on when eventually the bright blue hospital sign comes into view. 

Brian drives through the large parking lot and finally finds a spot up close. They all jump out and look up to the building. Mary hurriedly walks towards it, leaving the boys behind. She didn’t want to wait any longer. She wanted to see her best friend. She wanted to know if she remembered her or not. The boys had to jog to catch up to her. She walks and presses the elevator button, waiting a moment before it opens up. They rush into and roger presses floor 3. It slowly rises up and they all exit. Roger walks to the front desk and smiles a nurse.

“Is y/n y/l/n still in room 308?” he asks.

The nurse looks behind him and at everyone else. She raises a brow and grabs your file and begins reading. She shakes her head.

“She’s out of ICU. She’s on the second floor, room 210.”

Roger turns and they all run back to the elevator. The impatiently wait for the elevator again and go down a floor. They all rush off and walk back up to a desk where another nurse is sat.

“Hi, I’m looking for room 210.” says Mary, walking in front of Roger. He takes an awkward step back and watches her.

“It’s down this hall, last door on the right.”

You all say thank you as you rush down the long, narrow hall. The room number 210 comes into view and everyone pauses. Roger takes in a deep breath and looks to Mary. Her jaw is tensed and her eyes are watery. Fred slides his hand into hers and she looks at him and sadly smiles. They all slowly walk to the door, but freeze when they hear voices on the inside. It’s you talking and a man.

“I think she’s talking to the doctor.” says John, listening.

All of a sudden you laugh loudly as does the man. Roger’s brows furrow as he shakes his head.

“No,” he says. “That’s not her doctor.”

He brings his hand to the door and pauses before gently knocking on it. You laugh loudly once and it makes his heart full to hear it. How badly he’s missed your laugh. He smiles when he hears you call out to them.

“Come in!”

Mary looks to Roger and they give each other a nervous look. He slowly opens the door and all of them peer into the room. You’re sat on the bed, sitting all the way up this time. You’re smiling and the color has come back to your cheeks. The swelling on your eye is still bad, but the bruises everywhere else aren’t as dark as the last time he’s seen you. You look at the group of people staring at you and awkwardly smile, sitting up more. You wince and the man on the bed reaches for your arm and helps you. Roger watches him and frowns a bit. Who is he? Mary takes a step forward and smiles.

“Y/n?” she asks, sniffling a bit.

You look up to her and nod. She was hoping you would call out her name and be excited to see her. Instead, you waited for her to continue.

“Do you remember me? It’s Lucy.” she says quietly.

You narrow your eyes and slowly shake your head.

“No, I’m sorry. Were you here earlier?” you ask.

Her chin quivers as her worst nightmare is coming true before her. She shakes her head and a few tears spill down. You look at her nervously and then to Roger. The man sat on the bed watches all of them silently, just as confused as you are.

“I remember you tho.” you say. Roger’s head perks up a bit. He smiles and takes a step inside the room. Brian, Freddie and John follow behind.

“You were here yesterday.” you say. His smile once more falls.

“I’m sorry,” says the man. “How do you know y/n?”

Roger looks at him quickly and anger and frustration builds up inside of him.

“How do you know y/n?” he asks, rude. Mary places her hand on his shoulder to calm him down.

“I’ve known her for a few days now actually.” he says, looking to you smiling. You blush and smile back.

“Before the accident?” asks Fred, finally speaking up. The man nods.

“You all look so familiar.” you say, studying their faces, mostly Fred’s.

“You remember him, but not us?” asks Roger, sounding hurt.

You freeze and aren’t quite sure what to say to this man. You look to Max and slightly shake your head.

“Maybe you should come back later.” says Max.

Roger’s brows furrow and he tightens his fists.

“I’m not going anywhere.”

“Well how do you know her?” asks Max, getting irritated.

“Roger, let’s go.” says Brian.

“I’m not going anywhere!” he says loudly.

“Who are you?” asks Max, standing up.

“I’m her boyfriend!” yells Roger.

You freeze and stare at him wide eyed. Your boyfriend? Max looks to you and all you can do is stare at Roger, your mouth slightly parted.

“Roger,” whispers Mary.

“I don’t understand. I don’t know you.” you say quietly.

Roger closes his eyes and shakes his head.

“You should leave.” says Max again.

“I’m not going anywhere! Y/n, look,” he says holding up the box. “I have pictures of us!”

Your head begins throbbing as you take in all of this information at once. You stare at the box and go to speak.

“And this is Brian, Freddie and John. They’re like your second family! And this is Mary,” he says looking to her. She awkwardly smiles and looks down. “She’s your best friend!”

You look to her and shake your head just as there’s a loud knock at your door. You feel tears spill down your face as you start to get upset with all of these accusations about the people around you. Your door opens quickly and in walks your doctor. He freezes as he looks at everyone in the room. He looks to you and notices you’re crying and look almost scared. He frowns and looks at Roger.

“Mr. Taylor, what exactly are you doing?” he asks, upset.

“I just need her to remember.” whispers Roger.

The doctor frowns and looks to you. You’re staring down at your hands, not wanting to look at anyone.

“You should’ve asked me before bringing everyone here. Do you not realize how difficult this subject is?” he asks.

Roger slowly nods his head and looks back to you. You’re looking at him, but quickly look away. He looks to Max, scowls then walks out of the room and stands in the hallway. Everyone follows him and they all wait. The doctor walks out of the room and shuts the door.

“That was so ignorant of you, Mr. Taylor. I’m not sure what you were thinking, if you were even thinking at all,” he says. “But we don’t go about throwing shock into people faces when they’ve suffered something traumatic. We haven’t even begun to explain to her about possible memory loss.”

Mary wipes her tears away as she listens to the doctor. She knew this wasn’t a good idea. She should’ve listened to her gut.

“I understand this is difficult for you. For you all,” he says looking at everyone. “But-”

“Why does she remember him and not me?” asks Roger, sad.

The doctors face slightly falls as he watches pain wash over Roger. He exhales and shake his head.

“I-I don’t know why she would. The brain is a very strange thing. So I don’t have an answer for you.”

Roger nods and looks down.

“We were going to slowly transition her into the possible thought of memory loss, but since you so kindly helped us with that,” he says, taking in a breath. “I guess we’ll have to speed things up. Let me explain it to her and, Mr. Taylor, we can set a date for you to come in and rationally explain and go over certain things.” he says, glancing to the box of photos.

Roger notices his glance and stands up straighter.

“Do you think these will help?” he asks, hopeful. The doctor shrugs.

“I mean, they couldn’t hurt to try.”

Roger smiles and looks to everyone else as they smile back.

“Now go home, get some rest. And Mr. Taylor,” says the doctor before walking away. “Please stop trying to do my job.”

Roger nods and half laughs. He turns to everyone and they all look almost as hopeful as him. He knows he went over the top in that room. He didn’t mean to shout and scare you, but seeing that man on your bed made him upset. Knowing that you remember that man and not him, broke his heart in a way he never knew was possible. But the doctor’s words helped settle his nerves and rise up an excitement inside of him. And for the first time in a long time, 

Roger has hope.

2022 Writing Roundup

Tagged by @here4theheartbreak forever ago!! I’ve had this sitting in my drafts for a bit but only getting it up now because I just couldn’t come up with answers for some sections, but since I have some I wanted to post it anyway! It’s always nice to look back on the year😊

~Favourite Things~

What’s your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest. Why? This has got to be Still Waters Run Deep, written for the ghibli collab this year. It’s a only fic I really got my teeth into this year, while a lot of my other work was quite short. Not that that’s a bad thing, but Still Waters felt like much more a labour of love for the fact I pushed it longer than I intended, and it’s still something I enjoy reading!

Top 4 current WIPs - if anyone’s been paying attention to my blog, you’ll have heard a lot about certain wips, which still haven’t made it out and I’m sorry! Here they are:

Supercharged is the big one - and by big I mean it!! This is the longest thing I’ve ever written as it stands and it’s still not finished! Started in 2021 and still persevering, this is a Jungkook x reader enemies to lovers with superheroes, villains and all the trimmings! Highway to You drabbles (I’m grouping this into one here) - I have more in the works for my Highway to You universe (2 stories are already out), which I’m very excited for. It’s a Yoongi x reader mafia au, childhood friends to lovers and stuffed with my fave hurt/comfort Sunken Heart - another story that’s been kicking around since the dawn of time, demigod!Namjoon x royalty!reader mythology au set in atlantis. I promise I haven’t forgotten this one! Autumn drabbles - I had a great time writing 3 bullet fics for 3 hyungs this autumn, and I planned one for every member, so maybe you’ll see those this fall!

Favorite Line - I have a few lines that make me smile this year, but I’m gonna pick the most dramatic one haha: Lightning washed the nightmare in white. - from Still Waters Run Deep. I liked it when I wrote it, but I appreciated it even more when I was reading this part to my bf and he paused at that sentence to tell me how effective he thought it was!

Top 2 Resolutions for 2023

Hmm, actually write? I’ve had big chunks away from writing in 2022 and while that’s okay, and breaks can be helpful, mostly these were not. I wanted to write, just never got down to it. When I took part in a november writing goal event, I loved it! just getting myself motivated without that is a challenge Start daydreaming again! In line with my first resolution, I think this is a way to get me motivated. I still daydream of course, but it has shifted to some other fandoms, and while I still love bts, I don’t have their stories on my mind all the time, even though they are stories I like. When I start dreaming up scenes, the need to write them follows, and it’s fun besides :)

Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than, or about what was expected? Why? I can’t say I really had any expectations, but I have to say less than what I expected. I had been tailing off but I thought I might naturally swing back up again in terms of writing, but alas.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted last year? How was it? I haven’t really done anything on this blog that I couldn’t have predicted.. maybe the bullet fic series? I usually am a bit of a completionist but I found the bullet fics gave me some freedom when working from just a concept/aesthetic, as I did in my autumn drabbles. It was a refreshing change to write! Oh, and they were all in present tense? took a while to get used to and a while to switch back, but it fit the ~vibe~ in terms of other differences, I’ve written a few things behind the scenes for new fandoms, but that’s just for my personal enjoyment at the moment :)

What was your most productive days/day of the week/month, etc in terms of writing? October and November! In October I got inspired again by the season and I was buzzing to create again, I started with the seasonal drabbles and then in November I took part in the BTS Writers’ Club’s wrimo challenge, where I wrote something every day! I only posted one fic off the back of that but I wrote over 10k words that month, mostly behind the scenes with longer wips :))

Okay but on another note, I feel like this "ivy tower feel" is way too real. Mostly because of the way tumblr works. If you don't have much followers you won't get reblogged that often (seriously, who goes meticulously through the tags) and then you *feel* like no one agrees with you although there may be lots of people who do. and then you see the popular kids getting 1000s of notes and think.. okay so THAT's what everybody thinks.

That's one of the reasons I dislike tumblr because I think in an open space like for example reddit or better yet an organized forum people could come together without this bias; you just open a new topic and EVERYONE sees it. They don't have to click on it but they see it and "followers" don't matter, just what you say. I get why tumblr sometimes feels overwhelming and adds to the feeling that you're alone because without a decent amount of followers you're just shoutininto the void. It doesn't even matter how much quality your posts have.

Yeah, tumblr kinda sucks - having to reply like this, case in point - but unless we mass-migrate to reddit it's apparently quite a hostile environment to shippers... @k-vichan would have more to say about it but she's linked a post before about redditors talking about shipping and the upshot seemed to me that some are hostile and some ship but really don't talk about it there because it feels hostile, and some admit to feeling hostile and annoyed about shipping... As far as I can tell the community for shipping is pretty small. Tumblr has definitely nurtured a different TYPE of fandom, which I like a whole lot more :P The issues with sharing meta and not getting into echo chambers or feeling like there's only a few ideas that matter is really problematic though.

I follow the spn meta tag and a few variations of spacing/spelling that for the sake of trying to catch some meta I wouldn't have seen but people by and large rarely use that tag to the point I'm not even sure what the main one is supposed to be or who else even looks in it. (I suppose I could start by trying to use it more often as well >.>) I think the tagging has really fallen by the wayside, anyhow, since I can't find a regularly used tag with all the meta in and I think policing out the shipping or conflicting views has really not helped. If you post Destiel meta in the spn meta tag you have to brace yourself that people will jump on you and even I just cba most of the time. I only tag posts with main tags when I am feeling mentally up to the thought that people will see it if I try and signal boost it past my own trusted followers and the circles they'd reblog it to without it going much further. If I accidentally make a post that's too gen and it shoots off into the wilds of the fandom I get a dread that it's going to attract wanky attention, and I know I can hack it when it comes.

I think though, the only way with how tumblr currently is, is to actually have people use and follow a main meta tag and for that tag to gain cross-fandom approval for use again or at least to expand so the people who feel like they're not going to get heard but want to contribute can get their voices heard again, even if it’s within our echo chamber flooding the gen tag with Cas and Destiel meta and standing ground that it all IS supernatural meta so fuck you >.> 

I mean, the only want to do this would be to encourage as many people as possible to follow a generic spn meta tag that’s easy to remember/share/find and then for everyone who thinks they have something to say to then commit themselves to routinely using the tag. And for us to accept it's drawing attention and weather it when it does. Because it's shocking how you can make a few harmless posts and invite the most pointless hate. (I'm still not over someone taking that reindeer joke as a sign of the Destiel fandom's moral degeneracy :P)

I don't mind it, I think it's kinda funny when someone reblogs a post with incoherent rage that I dared say this that or the other about something they don't agree with (from the wanky hate-filled anti-destiel side of things that don't understand we're having fun but not at their expense until they make it at their own expense), but I also know that I've got the mental resources to not take it personally and mostly just to work out if I want to respond first to make a joke of it to everyone to show it's not harmful or meaningful, and then block, or just block outright. 

I mean, that's a decision everyone has to make if they're going to say things. I see people making harmless posts about having, like, their own personal revelation about the siren episode, whacking the 3 line post up on their personal blog, and the entire hate crew descends on them, because the entire point is they want to stop people talking about these things they don't like, so they bombard the soft targets. I am not a soft target and they can see that easily, so I don't get this shit (and I pre-blocked a whole bunch of them)... 

I think honestly they'd bombard pretty much anyone they haven't seen expressing an opinion before as a soft target and especially if you're talking about things personal to you or seeming innocent of the trouble you're about to wade into like you haven't had much experience of fandom because you're saying something as if for the first time or whatever. I can see what makes them leap on these people and there's almost no way to warn them that they're about to get the impression that fandom is a hateful place where their ideas aren't welcome. In that environment, finding faction-y echo chambers is much much safer, but in THAT environment the loudest voices are the ones echoing everywhere so it's bad for inside the group for people to feel they can speak up too.

So... idk, I think it would be worth trying to get a general spn meta tag into more popularity since people *do* post in them (and I follow because I want to see those posts, and give some the circulation they deserve) but people use these tags right now only sporadically and with limited range. Posting in the destiel tag with headcanons or gifs gets you a much wider audience than the spn meta tag :P I'm honestly going to have to check with Mel what the main tag people used to use even is. I searched "supernatural meta" on the search function rather than the tag when I first found the community, and located people that way but that was back in season 9 and I think people actually used the tag more regularly then, or tagged “supernatural meta” or the algorithm picked them up or something.

However if I'm the only one who dumps a whole bunch of thoughts into the spn meta tag I'm still going to be the loudest voice so this it would have to be something people actually want to do as a group going forwards, for safety in numbers and also so that their voices get a slightly more equal platform?

What we know about the CBA talks between the NFL and NFLPA

The NFL and NFLPA are trying to get a jump start on negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement two years in advance.

The NFL and NFLPA have a daunting task ahead of them: Reach common ground on a new collective bargaining agreement in time to avoid a work stoppage ahead of the 2021 season.

The current CBA — set to expire after the 2020 season — was agreed upon in 2011 after a 132-day lockout. There were two even worse work stoppages a few decades ago when the 1982 and 1987 NFL seasons were both shortened by player strikes.

Seeking to avoid that kind of labor dispute, the NFL and NFLPA are getting a jumpstart on their 2021 negotiations.

The two sides had early meetings

When exactly the NFL and NFLPA descended on Minneapolis in the spring to get negotiations started isn’t clear. Giants owner John Mara said at the NFL Annual Meeting the two sides would have preliminary talks “in early to mid-April,” and the first indication that the talks started came on April 9.

That’s when ESPN’s Todd Archer reported Jerry Jones missed a press conference to announce a new contract for DeMarcus Lawrence because he’s in Minneapolis for CBA talks. A few hours later, a joint statement was released:

“Today, the members of the NFL’s Management Council and the NFLPA’s Executive Committee met to discuss negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement. The League and the Union have committed to meet regularly in the coming months, which will involve staff, NFL leadership, members of the NFLPA Executive Committee and Player Representatives.”

They met throughout the summer and finally ended talks in late August ahead of the 2019 regular season.

Did progress on a new CBA actually get made this early?

The expiration of the CBA is still nearly two years away, so the biggest question the sides can answer in these preliminary meetings is just how much work they have to do.

According to the Washington Post’s John Clayton, it might not be much. He wrote that there is optimism a deal could get done as early as this year. That’d be extraordinarily quick, but Clayton says both sides could be happy with the current CBA due to the fast rising salary cap and minimum spending requirement (teams are required to spend at least 89 percent of their caps):

With that much money being spent, the feeling among some union leaders is that there is an incentive for players to make a deal rather than enter into an extended labor dispute. The NFL is on the verge of surpassing $15 billion in revenue, with the league’s television deals due to be extended within the next year. Each team received $255 million of shared revenue last year, with most of it coming from television.

NFLPA president Eric Winston hasn’t been quite as positive about the status quo, though:

In August, the Washington Post said the talks were “progressing,” but also said it’s still way too early to expect a resolution to come soon:

Executives with several NFL teams said it’s a good sign that talks are taking place without obvious acrimony or public sniping between the two sides. But they described the discussions as remaining in the relatively early stages and said they would be surprised if the process accelerates enough in the coming weeks to produce a near-term deal. A more realistic goal, one of those executives said, might be next spring.

Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, who also serves as the team’s NFLPA rep, also said he doesn’t expect an easy negotiation:

“I’ve got a feeling it won’t be as simple as it was last time,” Jenkins told ESPN. “Just because you have more players like myself who have been through the lockout before, saw how the NFLPA leadership handled that into where we are now, which I don’t think was a bad deal but there is a lot that I feel like we want to get back as players, or get as players.”

A month after the preliminary talks got started, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the conversation between the two sides was “cordial” and “amicable.”

Though it’s possible a deal could be reached before the 2019 season, negotiations would have to ramp up considerably. Unless the pace changes, that’s not seen as feasible. Perhaps more likely is a deal next spring, a year before the CBA expires following the 2020 season.

One source went as far as saying, as of now, there are disagreements but no contentious issues like last time. “Nothing that would make it blow up,” as of now, one person briefed on the talks said.

The New York Times warned that it’s still early to get too optimistic, though.

Officials from the league and the players’ union, who asked not to be identified so as not to be seen as negotiating in public, cautioned that labor negotiations had just begun and could quickly sour.

But the NFL’s early negotiation tactics bode well for the future. Via the Times:

The N.F.L., however, has shifted away from its combative approach of the last round of bargaining. People involved in the current discussions expect the league to agree to a modest increase in the players’ share of league revenue, and for there to be few major changes to an agreement that has led to significant gains in league revenue and player compensation for the past eight years.

Two years ago, NFLPA officials told players to begin the process of saving money for a potential lockout. That’s advice that hasn’t changed.

NFLPA Exec Dir De Smith sent an email out to all NFL agents this morning, advising them to urge player clients to save money in the event of a work stoppage. "We are advising players to plan for a work stoppage of at least a year in length," the letter states. More in SBD.

These early meetings may have given an indication whether or not that’s still likely to be necessary.

What’s the No. 1 priority in the CBA talks?

A wise group of men — let’s call them a clan — once said “cash rules everything around me.” The negotiations of the next CBA will revolve around money, money, money, a couple other things, and money.

In 2011, the NFL and NFLPA agreed to a split of the league revenue with players getting 47-48.5 percent. That was down from 50 percent in the prior CBA. It was widely considered a win for the league and a loss for the players.

With league revenues soaring so much that the salary cap rose from $123 million in 2013 to $188.2 million in 2019 — more than a 50 percent increase in six years — a couple percentage points represent a LOT of money.

It’s unclear what exactly constitutes a “modest increase” for players, but if the NFL is willing to cede a chunk of their revenue it’ll help grease the wheels plenty. What the league wants in return is more games. Via NFL.com in late August:

there still has yet to be a breakthrough on the No. 1 issue, with NFL owners continuing to want more regular-season games and NFL players continuing to want a larger share of revenue without adding regular-season games, sources say. Players are guaranteed 47 percent of total revenue under the current CBA, which is set to expire after the 2020 season.

The two sides are reportedly agreeable on the idea of expanding the postseason field from 12 teams to 14, though.

What other money issues will the NFL and NFLPA haggle over?

The NFLPA will aim to raise that revenue sharing percentage, and that number will likely be the crux of the negotiation. But the money talks will go deeper than that. Both sides have other ways to try to get a bigger piece of the pie. To name a few:

The 89 percent spending floor could be raised to force teams to pay players more, or lowered to allow teams to save more.

The NFL secured large amounts of “stadium credits” in the 2011 CBA — allotments of league revenue that help pay for new stadiums. Owners are aiming to seek even more stadium credits in the next CBA too, according to ESPN. “The [stadium credits] issue has prompted the NFLPA to scoff at the notion that the current talks relate to an ‘extension’ of the 2011 agreement,” wrote Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. The NFLPA considers the NFL’s requests “a major tweak” of the 2011 agreement.

A rookie wage scale was introduced in the 2011 CBA to end increasingly gigantic contracts for early draft picks. Sam Bradford received a six-year, $78 million deal after he was the No. 1 pick of the 2010 NFL Draft. In the most recent draft, Baker Mayfield received a four-year, $32.68 million contract for being the No. 1 pick. The wage scale is probably here to stay, but the NFLPA could aim for higher amounts for rookies or shorter contracts for first-year players that lets them cash in on second deals sooner.

The franchise tag could be in the crosshairs too with players now threatening to sit out seasons — and Le’Veon Bell even following through — to avoid it. The tag originally served to give teams more time to extend stars, but now it’s become a way to artificially avoid allowing the best players in the game to set the market higher at their respective positions.

There are a few non-money items on the agenda too

Money is the biggest reason to expect a lengthy fight, but there are also non-money issues: the league’s personal conduct policy, the substance abuse policy, and the commissioner’s unilateral authority to hand down punishment, to name a few.

The possibility of an 18-game regular season, increased or decreased practice time, and changes to the players’ healthcare plan are a few more wrenches that could be tossed into the mix.

The idea of an 18-game schedule has been floated by the NFL for several years. The league reportedly came to the NFLPA with the idea of allowing players to only play in 16 games per season — aiming to quell the union’s concern of players being overworked. There are several issues with that idea that would make it a bad compromise for both sides, though.

That was also around the time a group of Hall of Famers led by Eric Dickerson threatened to boycott future induction ceremonies if the next CBA doesn’t include significantly better healthcare benefits and revenue sharing for Hall of Famers.

The preliminary meetings were a chance for both sides to see just how far apart they are, and how much ground needs to be made up.
