Oscar’s in the middle of his second mediocre action movie on Netflix, when the front door creaks open ever so quietly. He only hears because it’s directly followed by a loud thunk noise and someone softly cursing to themselves.

He smiles, shakes his head, pauses the movie and sits up a little straighter, right as Charles appears in the doorway of the living room. “You’re awake,” Charles says, face lighting up in that soft, quiet kind of way as he leans against the doorjamb.

His face is flushed, his hair tousled, the top buttons of his shirt are undone. It’s a pretty classic ‘Charles who just went clubbing’ look, though Oscar doesn’t think he’ll ever tire of it. There’s a certain glow about him, a mischievous sparkle in his eye, a confident, relaxed slant to his posture. He looks the same when he wins a race.

Sometimes he thinks back to the early days, when he still thought that tight curling feeling he felt in his stomach when he looked at Charles on the top step of the podium, of him soaking in the roar of the crowd, head tipped back and smile tugging at the corners of his mouth was jealousy. When he thought he simply wanted what Charles had.

And he does. Of course he does. He wants podiums and wins and a World Driver Championship. But he also wants just Charles. Wants him when he’s like this, all glow-y and happy, but also when it’s been a long day and he’s tired, head tipping onto Oscar’s shoulder on the car way back to the hotel. Wants him when he’s sad, when he looks like the weight of the world is on his shoulder, when Oscar can do nothing but hold him and kiss the top of his head and tell him everything will be okay.

Wants early mornings of moving around the kitchen, Charles chattering at him excitedly and accepting the monosyllable answers Oscar gives in return, wants afternoons spend out on the waters around Monaco, sprawled out on Charles’s ridiculous super yacht, the sun too warm for them to cuddle but Charles insisting on it anyway. Wants hang outs with friends, where Charles is always the center of the universe, pulling everyone into his orbit, and yet Oscar is the center of his.

Wants quiet nights like these, where Charles might’ve gone to a party Oscar hadn’t felt up to, where their lives might have been separate for a bit, but he still comes home to Oscar.

“Was watching a movie,” Oscar says, with a shrug, which they both know means he’s been staying up, waiting for Charles to come home. “How was the party?”

“Fun,” Charles says. “You would have hated it.” He pushes off the doorjamb then, makes his way over to Oscar on the couch, slots in next to him easily, fits like a puzzle piece.

Oscar pulls him close, kisses him soft and sweet. “Yeah?”

“For sure,” Charles says, pillowing his head on Oscar’s chest. “There were shots and people were dancing.”

“The horrors,” Oscar jokes. He doesn’t hate clubbing, perse. But he doesn’t love it the way Charles does. Never quite knows what to do with his hands, always feels a bit awkward and off center. Never quite manages to command a room the way Charles does.

“Missed you, though,” Charles says, looks up at him with those big doe eyes of his.

Oscar smiles, soft and quiet. “Missed you too,” he says. “Now, come on, let’s go shower. You reek.”

He gently pushes Charles off of him, who squawks indignantly but lets himself be pushed towards the bedroom, towards the ensuite bathroom. Charles grumbles the whole way there, but Oscar knows he doesn’t mind. Especially not when Oscar gets into the shower with him, soaps up his hair and carefully rinses it out, presses Charles against the back of the shower for lazy, unhurried kisses that don’t really lead anywhere, before getting out of the shower again and quietly drying off.

It isn’t until they’re back in bed together, Oscar on his back, Charles on his side with his arm slung over Oscar’s chest, his face pressed into the space where Oscar’s shoulder meets his neck, that Charles speaks again. “I’ve been thinking.”

“Dangerous,” Oscar deadpans. It earns him a smack on his bicep.

“I’ve been thinking,” Charles repeats. “You have been staying here a lot.”

Oscar tenses. They haven’t really talked about. Whatever they are. Everything happened just sort of… naturally. They grew together so slowly, so organically, they hadn’t ever had to talk about it, really.

But Charles is right. Oscar can’t remember the last time he went to his own Monaco apartment, would probably have to dig around his bag for a good while to even find the key. And even tonight, when Charles wasn’t even here, Oscar still spend it on his couch, watching movies on his TV, instead of. Well. Just going home.

Had he been overstaying his welcome?

“Yeah,” he says, and desperately tries to keep the slight croak out of his voice.

“Right, so I was wondering. I mean, you totally don’t have to, we can just keep going the way we have but, if you wanted to, you could, well. Move in?”

Oscar breathes out. Feels the tension seep out of his body again. It’s like a weight has lifted off his chest, a weight he never even realized was there. The realization they’re both on the same page here, that they both want the same things. “Yeah,” he says, turns his head so his nose brushes against Charles’s. “Yeah, okay.”

Charles beams. It takes over his whole face, though it’s hard to see in the dim light of the bedroom. Their bedroom. Oscar can’t help the grin that spreads over his own face.

“Okay,” Charles says, nods, and then presses his lips to Oscar, softly, gently, like a promise. Like this is just the beginning of so much more. Like this is the start of forever.

HI ANON!!!! HI!!! I have a lot of scattered thoughts about this that i've been trying to formulate over the past few days and god i'm so excited to talk about toxic hylimpa

SO LIKE. the interesting thing about skyward sword is that it really does attempt to explain the origins of a lot of things (hyrule, the master sword, zelda's powers, etc). it's set at the beginning of the timeline and generally speaking it covers a lot of bases in terms of origin stories. one of the things it doesn't explain, though...is impa and the sheikah. which is really really funny because impa has been around since the literal first game in the series (irl not. timeline-wise) AND she's a key character in skyward sword but she doesn't get much of a backstory at all. it's also made doubly funny by the fact that most of the things that skyward sword attempts to explain the origins of already had established origins and it's retconning previous lore but zelda is just retcon city at this point so it hardly matters

BUT. I do think the tidbits we get are interesting, and there's a lot to be explored. who are the sheikah in skyward sword? why do they follow hylia? why was impa chosen to lead the reincarnated goddess to the sacred springs and what was her relationship with the old hylia like? my interpretation of their relationship aside, I think hylimpa at its core is a ship that would provide interesting answers to these questions, which is why I'm interested in it and why I like extrapolating on that part of skyward sword above all else.

I haven't even explained my own headcanons. anyway. they're so. weird religious devotion turned into romantic affection turned into confusion once hylia dies and is reincarnated as zelda. I love the idea that a lot of impas feel, like. special-- that they didn't have a lot of self-worth before, and now that they've been elevated to the highest position a sheikah can be in-- zelda's attendant!! zelda's personal servant that enacts her will! whatever she does she cannot lose that, because that is her everything. zelda is her everything. and hylimpa just makes this WORSE because that's an actual goddess!!!! the goddess that chose her, that loves her, that wants her... and hylia loooves taking advantage of that :) not always intentionally, but she's definitely aware of the impact she has on impa. I think ideally hylia kind of leads her on, maybe even throws in a romantic gesture in there once in a while to keep it up but never goes too far. because, well. she's not actually interested.

and then hylia does her little plan thing to save the world or whatever, and impa's supposed to be part of it, but she's. internally very conflicted over it. it guarantees her own specialness, but zelda (hylia) won't remember her. she won't be a goddess anymore, they won't really be the same person, will they? will she love impa the same way?

and then there's that green twink over there idk whatever. I like to add the first hero into the mix here because I love the idea that impa is like, stupid jealous of him. that's hylia's actual special boy and the one she actually has a romantic interest in (in my own writing hylink is also a one-sided thing. literally the most bullshit love triangle in existence. divorce love triangle. love loses.)

What are your thoughts on Ronance?

Love how many people come to my inbox to ask my opinion on ships. It's cute and I always enjoy answering!

Anyway! I like ronance okay. What do I mean by that? Let me explain!

I looove how much the actors love and promote the ship. Natalia has always been there for the gay ships and I love her for it and her enthusiasm for ronance is so fun and a breath of fresh air for me and others who have seen many an actor or writer etc act weird around queer ships (really all of the stranger things cast have been great about queer ships). And Maya is always here for the queers and trying to make sure the representation she's apart of is good and so I kind of knew she'd be supportive of ronance shippers and I've loved seeing it from them. Also the edits, fanart, fics, etc are always fire.

The next important reason it's not a big favorite of mine is that I'd just really love a storyline for Nancy that doesn't involve any kind of romance. Not just cause it's been a huge part of her storylines since season one but I think Nancy is an incredibly interesting character. I don't always like her or support her positions in something but she's always interesting! But I feel like we haven't gotten into more with her for awhile. They touch on things like her feelings about Barb throughout almost every season and than her facing misogyny in the field she desperately wants to go into but they always back off when things get the most interesting, I feel. Or just don't dig into enough (fanfic writers do have our backs for that kind of stuff thankfully). But stranger things has this problem with a lot of their main characters and I'd also love to get more into Robin as well. Give me her family life, her dreams for the future, let me see her speaking more languages, etc.

But anyway!!! Back to ronance.

So for me ronance doesn't really work because I can't see Nancy as queer. Just personally I can't see it. She's one of the few characters I can't see it with but that's very much a personal viewpoint, ya know?

I also I think they'd fundamentally work better as friends, and I think even that would be hard for them at times. They are very different people and I think arguments between them or having problems in general would happen a lot and pile up because of how differently they think and communicate.

Although at the end of the day I still think its cute and fun! Shipping culture is fun and one of my favorite parts of fandom.

yes! he does! they aren’t anything super serious—like, he isn’t heartbroken over her or pining over her or in some sort of desperate love with her, but he absolutely feels romantic + sexual attraction toward her.

would he ever act on it?

he definitely does, although he isn’t as forward (or stark) as touya is. shouto is almost, in a way, subtly manipulative with his affections; kinda tricks reader into thinking it’s something she wants or is doing (whereas touya just takes without asking in any way at all, without any buttering up, melting n softening, or finessing. to touya, it is more fun to take by force and watch her face screw up in disgust or hear that indignant squeal that catches in her throat, sticky and squeaky). shouto mostly steals little kisses and soft touches—small things that he’s sure natsuo won’t necessarily miss.

how would natsuo + touya react?

natsuo doesn’t mind as long as it stays limited to just sweet lil kisses and cute lil touches (hand-holding, hugging, sitting on his lap, cuddling, walking arm n arm); fairly innocent stuff. if shouto wants to take it any further than that, he knows he needs to get natsuo’s explicit permission, and that’s fine with him. he definitely feels guilty wanting any more than what he already takes—both for his brother (he knows how much natsuo loves reader/how possessive he is over her, and although shouto knows about 80% of the time natsuo will share with him if he asks, he doesn’t want to overstep any boundaries or upset his brother, or take advantage of the doting and love natsuo has for shouto being the baby of the family and all that), and for reader (he doesn’t like putting her in that position and using her like a Todoroki Toy just passed around between the three of them)—so it’s very rare that he’ll push natsuo for anything other than hugs n kisses, but it does happen on seldom occasion. in those instances, he usually likes to frame it as something along the lines of comfort; touya was especially mean today, and poor little reader is so upset, and her sweet Daddy is so busy and nowhere to be found, and please, nii-san? let me make her feel better, let me take her mind off of it, yeah? promise i’ll be real gentle <3 (shouto likes to tell himself that he isn’t as scummy as his older brothers, but he is, just in a more manipulative and less straightforward way). touya, on the other hand, fucking hates that shouto’s allowed to touch her at all. he can’t wrap his head around why natsuo permits such a thing in the first place; it’s entirely inconceivable to him. the thought doesn’t only inspire sharp flashes of scalding anger, but a pervasive, inexplicable, and unfamiliar feeling of being upset, too, which is even more irritating, since touya can’t figure out—or, more appropriately, won’t admit to—why he’s feeling such a way, why shouto in particular makes him feel in such a way (it’s because touya cannot handle being second to shouto, ever, a feeling that stems from being thought of as inferior to him as a child—thus, he now feels as if he needs to beat him in every and all aspects of life to prove that he is worthy, that he is better).
