Your post made me think of screencaps I took about Sam’s expression about the suit but I took several hundred screencaps that I couldn’t put it in one post. But that many screencaps can make several gifs.

Every time I tried to time it at the normal rate I do for my gifs all those little expressions would be hard to focus on and look at, at least at a slower pace you can see all the nuances.

I think it’s interesting that Sam’s always been much more “reserved” in his reactions. His actions aren’t overly exaggerated, even when we have moments like the steering wheel grab. Like when you can really see it during moments like those, it means there’s something serious/a lot going on. Even when he’s upset about something he’s not extremely loud about it, as in raising his voice. The only times we do see something like that (the overextended life comment or after the visit with Isaiah) it’s obvious that Sam’s seriously upset (and rightfully so). It’s a nice consistency to see that extends from the movies til the end of the show. (We could all get into a meta spiral about why his reactions are more reserved but trying not to make this post a million years long lmao)

I mean, yeah, it’s probably Anthony and Sebastian having spent so much time together but there’s literally 6 months of time they don’t explain in the show except for some things here and there and they don’t give specific timelines on that (how long did Bucky ghost Sam’s texts? how long has Sam been working with the Air Force? stuff like that) so they could’ve spent time then. And also when Sam was searching for Bucky, he must have studied him in order to find him, and I am sure Bucky did the same thing about Sam -- gotta know who is on your tail if you want to figure out tactics to avoid them. Definitely could’ve spent time learning about each other and picking up stuff from each other too. But the fact that it’s visual canon material that they mirror each other in a lot of habits and ways??? I just lmao

So yeah, Sam just goes through an entire journey looking at this suitcase without saying a word. He’s kinda wary at first, wondering what the fuck is going on, trying to figure out Bucky’s angle, and then as he listens to him explain and talk he’s got nerves but also trying to play it casual and cool even though he’s trying to figure everything out. And then when he looks at it some more there’s all his complicated feelings about what it could be (even though he knows probably what it is even if he doesn’t want to admit it to himself) and even when he touches it, it’s like he’s not sure it’s real. When he turns his head to look at Bucky, Bucky can’t even look him in the eye and he’s doing one of his typical nervous tics. And even when he’s had a few hours not to think about it, when Bucky leaves, he stares at the suitcase and just. There’s uncertainty and tension and him thinking about the weight of what it could all mean and how it would go and it’s just -- Sam Wilson has a resting worrying face almost throughout this show and this part is no exception. For all that Sam makes a joke about “seeing the gears turnin’” in Bucky’s head, you can see all the worries, calculations, and thoughts in Sam’s eyes.

Based on his reaction Sam didn’t know about the suit. How did they get his measurements, who decided on the design? How many times did Bucky annoy Shuri with his suggestions?

Also, interesting that Sam displays some nervous gestures, but some of those gestures are ones Bucky displays. Another thing to note is that Bucky is somewhat nervous through part of this exchange, including one time where Sam is looking at him.
