Their relationship hadn't been the best and he avoided her texts as he struggled to communicate honestly; afraid of facing her. He didn't want to admit his faults or appear as weak in front of Renee; work hadn't been going well.

"We're expecting twin boys," Renee smiled. "How are you doing Robbie? How is work?" she replied as if they never had a difficult dynamic.
