To add to this: a big part of my original backstory for chucky (back when the show had just been announced but we knew it would take place in Hackensack and was a result would show his backstory) had to do with religious trauma from stories I heard at one of my past jobs working at a call center for a lawfirm that did abuse cases, specifically surrounding catholic and Mormon churches. It had to do with the cult like mindset of some religious communities that display the front of a happy God-fearing suburban neighborhood in the 50s (based on some horrific stories I heard irl from people who called into that call center) and how Chucky and his parents moved to this neighborhood when he was a kid that had dark dark secrets in said neighborhood.

Listening to a lot of ethel cain lately is making me wanna give chucky religious trauma... like come on, he WOULD have religious trauma, it would explain so much his fear of death and more specifically fear of going to hell. To me his backstory in the show is actually nearly perfect to me, so I might just sprinkle in religious trauma that we don't see behind the scenes. Like maybe the boys home he went to was a religious organization we just didn't see much of it. And maybe his parents were religious but not to an extreme extent, but still—having religion hammered into his head so young and still choosing to kill, then having the realization that he will probably go to hell stuck with him growing up
