hehehhe!!! I have so many ideas you couldn't even imagine babeygurl. I just really wanted this au to be super wholesome for everyones faves. If you have a dh character you like- they are likely in this AU somewhere just know that. It's sorta just morphed into my own feel-good modern au rather than just an Aquarium AU
Some misc Fin-Tastic AU notes (also featured in the art):
Corvo has a motorcycle (as does Daud and the Whalers. They actually have a Motorcycle Gang in town)
Daud also runs a definitely legit Self-Defense Class (that definitely isn't an underground fight-club)
Emily attends the classes as part of the "Jr. Knives of Dunwall" course)
Delilah owns an upscale Art Gallery in town (and has been told to not visit after claiming to know Corvo's sister and gas-lit him that some random child she paid was his nephew)
Billie and Thomas live with Daud in his apartment and brought home some dogs one day. Daud told them absolutely not. The dogs love Daud. They have dogs now.

Okay, so we've all probably heard about Bioware making the wrong decision and not giving us a mabari in Veilguard, and no Assan doesn't count, and yes I will die on this fucking hill, saying "they aren't popular in Northern Thedas," which seems ridiculous, like no one in any country besides Fereldan thinks mabari can be useful? But, if that is the way it has to be, then they need to give us something just as good, such as dogs that ARE popular in Northern Thedas, preferably ones that go with our Rooks' faction, such as...
Tumblr media
The Tevinter Shepard (based on the Belgian malinois) A breed of dogs made popular by their surprising intelligence and obedience, paired with a bite just as bad as their bark. Contrary to their namesake, these dogs aren't breed to keep sheep safe, but rather to keep slaves in line, all except this one, which Shadow Dragon Rook found as a puppy in a breeding facility, and trained to help them free slaves. Special ability: Attack, the dog pounces at an enemy and drags them down, ripping into whatever flesh it can grab.
Tumblr media
The Nevarran Corpse Wrangler (based on Australian Blue Heeler) A loyal and playful breed helpful in the duties of The Mourn Watch, mainly in keeping the dead from wandering too far from the Necropolis, either by nipping at the legs of the more non threatening dead, and alerting Rook to the very threatening dead. Special ability: Herd, the dog gathers enemies into a condensed group, making aoe abilities more effective.
Tumblr media
The Rivaini Treasure Tracker (based on Labrador Retrievers) A staple among Lords of Fortune are these dogs, which have the uncanny ability to sniff out buried treasure, as well as being capable retrievers, though not so capable as to be able to drag a full grown dragon, try as they might. Special ability: Fetch, the dog will find a health potion for you when you're low on health.
Tumblr media
The Antivan Mouse (based on the chihuahua) As its name would imply, this breed is often mistaken for large rats, and that's just the way Antivan Crows like it, since their small size make them perfect for sneaking messages between agents, and their surprisingly loud bark makes them the perfect distraction when you need to sneak up behind a target. Special ability: Distract, the dog will bark loudly behind an enemy, opening them up to a flanking attack.
Tumblr media
The Anderfel Hairless Hound (based on Xoloitzcuintli) An odd looking, but still quite intimidating breed favored by The Grey Wardens, primarily because their hairlessness makes it easier to know when the dog has contracted the taint from darkspawn blood. Special ability: Howl, the dog let's out a loud howl that stuns an enemy for a moment.
Tumblr media
This thing (based on the borzoi) Honestly, we have no idea what this thing is. It looks like if you pulled a dog out of the drain and just showed up one day and started followed Veil Jumper Rook around. We're pretty ure it isn't a demon, but if it starts speaking in riddles, we're not taking chances. Special ability: Teleport, the dog opens a portal under an enemy, causing them to fall from a few feet above where they were standing.
