so i made this twitter au post with just a couple tweets from them and it introduces Jude for the first time (cause Jude was literally created today)

then there's Jude's intro post, some stuff on Em, Em and Ilya, and Flor and Mara

So basically Em, Mara, and Florian are all former Ravens, Jude was a Trojan, and Ilya went to Penn State whatever tf they call themselves the Lions or something

Flor and Mara were partners in the nest until Florian lost his leg and ending up dropping out of EAU. Mara in turn finished her degree in only four years instead of five and left to go partner up with him again but this time outside of the nest. They're a package deal and with Mara's skill and Florian's impressive recovery came an interest from olympic court (particularly in Mara as Florian's the same age as Neil and Jean and it makes him the youngest olympic exy player) and they couldn't just take one so they ended up recruiting both of them.

Emiko had graduated a few years prior and had shot up straight to olympic court, abandoning the partner system and embracing an intense form of independence that made her a less than ideal team player until she befriended Jude

Jude is only 26 but he is currently the oldest of all of them and the most well adjusted so he's taken it upon himself to look out for them all and also encourage team bonding since none of those three are the greatest at being social

Ilya tends to bicker with the three of them for awhile because of a rivalry with the ravens but he eventually gets over it. He and Flor really bond when Mara decides she doesn't want to rely on the partner system and Florian starts drowning without it. Ilya's the one who offers to step up and fill that place as a partner until Flor's ready to start working away from it.

They're each a mess in their own way and I love them and the way they kind of mesh together as a team so so dearly

during the war, all the bogatyrs were specifically contracted magical girls (i mean all magical girls have contracts but i mean like. they were actually tied to a company instead of freelance mercenaries)

#696 is delightfully, wonderfully, holy-shit-I-didn't-realize-how-little-art-I-had-of-him-what-the-fuck Hero of Wind and Voices, Tarim 'Laqir' Nakoshima, chosen Hero of Kharos! Pictured here as his recolor.me from 2020, a very bad drawn image from 2014, and a base art from 2012. As you can see, he's always had Generic Anime Protagonist brown hair and green eyes, and has always had that bright-red and bright-cyan motif around him.

When @castcuraga decides he is ready to open commissions, I will give him somewhere between 150-300$ CAD and he will do a fully painted picture of Tarim for me, and it will be glorious, and it will force me to draw a full reference of him, which tbh he really needs.

I know I said 'a few facts'. You're getting a fucking infodump and you will like it, Tsuko-my-dear, because Tarim is one of my oldest OCs, and if I'm not mistaken, my oldest OC that I still use. I think... I'm pretty sure the only older OC that I have is Tranq (Shadow Tranquility is her full name, and I have no idea if she's ever coming back, I won't rule it out).

Tarim has been with me for over a decade, and I love him, and he deserves the world. He was the protagonist for Vocal Paradise, my very first NaNoWriMo novel in 2012. I won that year. I was so proud of myself. He came back for 2017 in Starlight ~ Beginning of the End, which I should reread because the only info I apparently put on NaNo itself was "tarim has to leave the vamps because shit blew up, naitofiara is there," so 10/10, me.

2018, Firstlight ~ The Cultist's Blade opened with "Tarim Nakoshima is dead, the Reihe having consumed him after a Fragment left him in the wrong timeline. [..] Thus, a new group of Twilight Warriors must be chosen." Three years later, Tarim makes his as-of-right-now final appearance in 2012 with Dragonsword ~ His Last Night's Requiem as not only the owner of the titular requiem, but "Not so long after the initial fall of Kagiru Network, two strange young men appear in the middle of the Salem Academy courtyard. One looks Tarathiel Draconis in the eye, tosses her the necklace he had around his neck, and fades to nothingness." which is a pretty metal way to die.

So, now that I've established Tarim's been around for fuckin ages and likes haunting the narrative, who is he?

Tarim is Maradeim! Originally called the Cherchant, which is French for 'searching', because when I was 12 I was learning French so a great deal of the language made it into my writing. The Maradeim are from Ilya Loremmi, the oldest of my original worlds (and very much still a part of the Aethel!), and specifically from the city-state of Isuparingu, which I think is a google-translated-romaji corruption of 'inspiration'? Anyway, they were birthed by the goddess Ivonnu, who's still around, in a fight with her sister Ikuto, who is also still around as Kharos' daughter and being pissy in the woods.

What makes the Maradeim different from ye average elf? Uh, they're grey? Yeah, I know, good question.

Maradeim have been established to be Pretty Rare, so you don't see 'em much outside Isuparingu, and almost never outside the Lorem as it is. Four of the Detan Burata - Zona, Seikyoru (who you may know better as Athena Cykes), Myn, and Rokichi - are Maradeim. To date, Tarim is the only named, non-DB Maradeim character I currently have. (There's two others in my records, Felix and Jaycinda, but I highly doubt they'll ever reappear. I would have to totally rework them, and changing names and designs for characters who didn't have more than that is just making new characters.)

Tarim has average brown hair, spearmint green eyes, gunmetal gray skin, and a jawline sharp enough to slice a man alive. He stands 5'9", would probably be called an otter if he were in a gay bar, and from what I can tell, is the Most Average Maradeim To Ever Maradeim.

He doesn't have parents. Why doesn't he have parents? Dunno. The very first iteration of Vocal Paradise was actually a story my first soulbond, Iban, told me about growing up in the desert. He was making shit up because he was babysitting his younger brother, but I still took it for inspiration. Eventually I moved Tarim to Ilya Ustuxe, I think in 2017 for Starlight, where he actually was an illegal immigrant, worked as a veterinarian for horrors that come out of the woods, and promptly had a super-gay romance with the king, Morcair Rakshara.

Tarim's role has always been that of Protagonist, when he appears; and if he does appear as the Mentor Who Dies, it's because of how his powers and prophecy have always worked.

The oldest prophecy I've ever written was the Prophecy of the Five Heroes, in various forms, and the kicker to it is that people have tried to fulfill it, and crucially, they failed. There's been three generations of Heroes: the first was the Bringers of Hope, the second was the Crafters of Balance, and the third is the Challengers of Fate.

The Bringers of Hope failed so badly that none of them have ever even appeared in any written works: the only thing left of them is their titles, and the fact that they failed. (I know their names, though, and their relationships with each other. Hehehe.) The Crafters of Balance was Tarim, Nyktophotia, Elrua, Akui, and Ikane; who were all actively written out of the narrative when their powers overwhelmed them. They still haunt the narrative. The Challengers of Fate are Tarathiel, Kinefira, Ezra, Saga, Tessa, and Leilahi.

You'll notice that there's six challengers, whereas only five of the other two. Really wonder why the first two groups failed, folks...

Regardless. Tarim is the OG Hero of Voices, and his main magical power is to command the three Alyvian spellsongs - the Reihe, Sterben, and Lautlos - and to reshape the world of travel, Ilya Serina, to his will. He begins using the Sterben, and eventually the Reihe, and only once uses the Lautlos. Contrary to Tarathiel, who primarily uses the Lautlos and sometimes the Sterben, and only uses the Reihe when she purifies her own heart.

Tarim has always been the protagonist, and his job is to be dragged through the Serin into varying parts of the wilderness of the Aethel by the plot, being pissy the entire time and befriending a bunch of animals, sometimes being dragged around by a girl who is supposed to be his love interest and who he doesn't give two shits about. The only person he's shown any romantic interest in was Morcair, who he died on very purposefully and who he kept a lot of secrets from. Morcair's pretty bitter about it, and helps out the Challengers only for Tarim's memory. Lmao.

You'll notice, though, that right up top I said that Tarim goes by Laqir. This is because while I knew from the start what his name was, he has never willingly given his name to another person in his entire fucking life. Seriously. If he weren't sorted under the Ts, I wouldn't have told you his name was Tarim. In my actual files where all his art is, he's listed under Laqir. When I make the wiki, he'll be listed under Laqir as well, and his actual name will only be in the sidebar.

When I write him, he always and only uses he/him pronouns, and only gets named in the narrative after someone asks him his name onscreen, and he has to give it. The first time he did in Starlight (because tbh I barely remember all the shit that happened in Vocal Paradise), it was to Morcair. Tarim panicked, glanced around outside the carriage they were in, saw a road sign for Laqir Lane, and told him his name was Laqir.

What fuckin name was he going by before the shattering of the Aethel? Gods only know. It sure fuckin' wasn't Tarim.

Why he has this issue, I have no idea. But he won't give you his name, just Laqir, and gods only know if Nakoshima is his actual surname either. Prob'ly not. I have no idea why he was orphaned in the desert. He got to Ilya Ustuxe by being a stowaway on a ship as a teenager and is Super Illegally There, but fuck you he's Laqir Nakoshima, consort to the King and Hero of Voices, no one is going to be asking for his passport.

The red/blue thing he's got is something he famously shares with Nyktophotia: that's actually an Alyvian thing, and they both have it through their use of the spellsongs. Tarathiel only does that when she's actively using her powers, and Kinefira simply refuses to use the spellsongs so she doesn't get to be special.

Tarim is a grumpy, generous guy honestly. Dislikes being personable, dislikes being dragged into shit, a very Bilbo-like character tbh? Genuinely very loving, absolutely atrocious at trusting people. Super reliable, though, and has an interest in chemistry.

Tarim is also the actual owner of the Kharosian stronghold on Ilya Kava, as well as a low mansion on a phantom island in Ilya Ustuxe. He stored most of his personal stuff in the Ustux, and most of his Hero stuff in the Kav. The Challengers use his stronghold in the Kav as their primary base of operations in the Aethel, since they don't reeeeaaally want to go to the Ustux and deal with Morcair's grief over Tarim, but Tarim himself is still haunting both of these places in what fragments of consciousness he's managed to plant in them, so he's all smug about that.

It'd be nice to go back and write a few stories for him, tbh. It's been a while, and most of the things he's done in Sagiverse sum up to angrily being written out of the narrative onscreen to pass the mantle to Tarathiel. We should go see what he was up to before that.

Nox grew up in the capital of her home country of Ravaya, and the Ravay people are very tied to the natural spirits that live within the jungle that presses up against the edges of the city. There are temples scattered throughout the city, and the central Air Temple at the perfect center of the city where many people spend time asking for guidance and protection from the spirits. The jungle especially is seen as a sort of benevolent deity that that the people of her home country are very reverent of.

In short, she's been raised to respect and almost revere nature, and as such tends to do her best to avoid leaving a footprint on nature whenever she can.

As a creature of the sea, their life is very tied to the natural world. While siren religions only worships one god, the moons are seen as spiritual gifts, as guardians of their people and feature in many of the holy days celebrated by the sirens.

All that being said, they has a reverence for the spirits that make up Nox's people's religion, and can often be seen visiting water temples on the surface to center themself when things are getting hard.

Ilya struggles to sleep much. Sirens only sleep between 3 and 6 hours a night, but his human form needs more sleep. He's known to push himself to stay awake and fight the urge to sleep until he crashes for like 16 straight hours lmao.

izzy moore. a con artist in the run since forever and a barista to earn some extra money whenever she wasn't involved, she has been living off whoever has been able to con since she left home until she quit after her last con. she broke things off with her boyfriend evan when she got tired of not being in charge of any of their cons together and she has feelings for her mark lynn's jason castillo but they had a fall out after he found out she wasn't who she was saying he was.

i picked this name because it's the "canon" name of male v and i really liked it :) i think the meaning of the name is interesting especially taking the whole "burning the city to the ground" thing of cyberpunk into consideration, and in a way it applies to vincent himself as well; though less of the "forcibly taking control" kind of conquering, and more of the "fears and worries" kind of conquering

now this is the one that really makes me batshit insane. i personally picked it because i liked the sound of it and i'd been waiting for an oc to come along worthy enough to carry the name, but then at some point i ended up looking at its meaning and, well, thoughts spawned LOL when vitali was looking for a new name after coming out as trans, mikhail ended up suggesting this name for him; he would just throw random suggestions at vitali throughout the day to see which one stuck, and, well, this one did. mikhail thought it would be fitting because it marked a new chapter in vitali's life; and vitali agreed with him. though what mikhail never told him is that he also thought it would be fitting because to him, vitali radiates life; and in a way, back then, vitali was his life because they were just always together and mikhail could not imagine a life without him. and then they didn't see each other for six years so yeah. sorry about that it's also funny because he died that one time. ☁️ (adron) - when he isn't wear his ordinator armour, adron really likes loose clothing, like silks & robes ! preferably white :3 he also loves gold, and most of his jewelry is gold

🌟 (corbin) - due to his dedication to his work + his troubled past, corbin doesn't talk about himself much ! he tends to express himself through his love for the occult & his research rather than through words. if he's really close to someone (like his son, fech) he will share his research notes with them ! fech has access to all of corbin's library :)

☀️ (ilya) - he tries his best to make good impressions but due to his coping mechanism of keeping a cold blank expression at all times, people end up feeling very distanced or put off by him :/ in the end ilya doesn't care much about that, and his job as a medic makes up for it most of the time

9. What is your OC’s favorite small way to show their love? 

ASHER - Asher's affections lean more towards physical. She's big on touching and while she's respectful when someone doesn't want to be touched she is gonna be a bit bummed. She won't let it show, though. She's also big on helping people break out of their blue episodes by getting them up and getting them going. Asher's got her own weights to bear, her shoulders weigh heavy, but she's trying and she's better at taking care of others than she is at confronting what's wrong with her.

BAELFIRE - Bael doesn't write, isn't even good with words, but he's good with his hands. With art, with weaving things; he makes a bracelet out of strands, carves a ring out of wood, he leaves small gifts for others to find.

CIN - Cin isn't a touchy feely type and doesn't show his emotions all that well for a long whiile. His small love gestures are usually big to him, so they feel big to you - being open with himself is the best means he knows.

ISAIAH - Taking care of you! Cooking, doing your laundry, washing your hair, rubbing your shoulders - Isaiah also is big on small romantic touches and always has something sweet to say. He's full of love.

ILYA - Ilya's love language is almost unseen and hard to trace. You complain that your dishwasher isn't draining and you find he's gotten Isaiah to stop by and fix it. You mention offhand that you lost your bracelet and he will look for it, get others to help look for it. Not sleeping well? He knows something you can take and you won't realize he's left it for you on your bedside table, you just recognize his chickenscratch handwriting.

JEREMIAH - Jeremiah isn't exactly good at taking care of himself and that makes it hard for him to take care of others well but he tries. He learns to cook because he knows people like to eat and he learns how to clean because a clean home makes for a happy home. He gives his money away pretty happily and will hand over whatever he has if it means it'll make you happy, but probably his strongest gesture of love is how he talks to people and the things he says.

KEN - He's a good bridge between Ilya and Asher - good with phsyical affection or none, good with his words but also happy to remain quiet. Ken has a lot of practice at being alone so he's still fairly new to the being around others, but he's doing it pretty well with daily rituals - checking in on folks, taking daily lunch with his best friend, memorizing things you like and bringing them to you 'because you mentioned it once'.

MARA - Mara is very straightforward classic forms of love and care. No nonsense, making you take care of yourself, can be a bit brusque about it but she knows when to step back? Really good at picking out gifts she thinks you'd like, honestly.

OMAR - Probably the most well adjusted and stable OC I have and that makes him the best at showing his feelings. He wears his heart on his sleeve and is a really good dad and husband; he's supportive and provides a good shoulder, loves listening to what others have to say, and is protective of the time he sets aside with Isaiah and Milo for family time (or romance, with Isaiah). He's just as protective of plans he makes with friends, though if he knows they aren't feeling up to it he steps back.

WREN - OH GOD Wren thinks he's really bad at showing how he feels but he's honestly really an open book. He's a bit awkward about it - there's no flourish or style, no sneaking your favorite chocolates into your room or buying you a book you've been hunting for and then hiding it under your pillow; he gives things very much as soon as he gets them and has them to hand over, and he shares what he has with anyone (esp w/ his brother, sister or partner(s)). He's openly affectionate even if sometimes he's a bit awk about it, it's usually charming.

WYATT - VERY similar to Wren in that he sees no reason to tiptoe around giving gifts or w/e, or be coy about it. He's also a lot more blunt about how and what he does for others. He doesn't really acknowledge what he's doing are gestures of love and care, he just assumes that you take care of others and is genuinely surprised at selfishness because he thinks it's meaningless; to not want to make others happy is unfathomable to him and also not interesting.
