bored again! lets rate movies i saw that came out this year, listed chronological by release date according to letterboxd:

bottoms dir. emma seligman watched: 09/01/23, 09/02/23, 09/03/23, 09/08/23 5 stars, the movie we needed and the movie we deserved

asteroid city dir. wes anderson watched: 07/08/23 5 stars, put jason schwartzman in shorts and i will watch it

spider-man across the spider-verse dirs. joaquim dos santos, justin k thompson, kemp powers watched: 07/14/23, 07/15/23 5 stars, perfect movie no notes

they cloned tyrone, dir. juel taylor watched: 08/15/23 5 stars, watched this on the plane back to VA and had a life changing experience

barbie dir. greta gerwig watched: 07/25/23 1.5 stars, i watched a russian screen recording cuz i couldn't be bothered to actually pay to see it. here is my review straight from my letterboxd:

"wtf did i just watch and why was it a 1.5 hour long ad and why am i not surprised. also why was there a car ad in the middle of it. and also this was so insidious lmao. and also again wtf did i just watch. if i hadn't streamed it i would want my money back. the extra half star is generous, but a few lines made me kinda push air out of nose in a humorous gesture. 

way too much ken for a movie called barbie."

red white and royal blue dir. matthew lopez watched: 08/17/23 3.5 stars for actual content, 5 stars for the get low scene, need i elaborate?

may december, dir. todd haynes watched: 12/05/23 2.5 stars, was low key disappointed by this, it felt kinda messy and disjointed with really long scenic shots. also made me very uncomfortable to watch for reasons so i probably shouldve made the executive decision to Not Finish It, but i didnt listen to my brain
