I've been watching a yiik playthrough on yt and well, yeah the game has a lot of problems, but I'm not even gonna lie I freaking love rory. he's easily the best character, I wish he was in a better game lmao.

Thoughts on the YIIK Nameless Psychosis Demo Part 1

So I checked out a video playthrough of the Demo of Yiik: Nameless Psychosis and...I have some thoughts. A lot of thoughts and strangely enough those thoughts are largely positive? I really liked the look of this demo, and it's made me cautiously optimistic about the future of this game.

For one: I really liked the new opening. Starting the game with this strange, surrealist sequence does a lot to establish the tone so when surrealist elements come back in later sections it doesn't feel nearly so awkward and out of place as it did in the old version.

The character introduction scroll even managed to get a giggle out of me by introducing Claudio as the "Record Stop Ronin"

After the character scroll we cut to a strange black and white shot of a man (presumably Alex, going by the face) chained to two pillars with one of our new characters, Handsome Krow, watching ominously in the background.

The camera turns and we see the girl that was listed as Allison (presumably Alex's sister judging by how similar they look) fall from her perch into the dark water below her.

You fall into a strange area called Blackened Pond, and it is at this point that you gain control of Allison.

However, if you take the opportunity to save at the phone, you'll notice your character is listed as "Nameless." Not Allison. Weird.

Trying to go through the bars in front of you doesn't work, so the only thing left is to interact with that strange head, which gives you this text.

Afterward, a strange card will appear in the corner of your screen.

Checking your 'Field Cards' gives you this description.

Gates of despair, huh? Sure enough, you can now walk through the bars that were blocking you before. But it isn't long before your path is blocked again by a row of stone hands. The strange guard in front of it tells us:

Huh. It looks like we really have lost our name. Well, if we want to go to this party, I guess we need to figure out how to get it back. Plus, names are just, yknow, generally important.

Unfortunately, it's only ten images per post so I'll continue these thoughts in the next part.

i must reiterate that you could not pay me to actually play this game and that i am watching a playthrough of it (/lh) but yea ive seen bits and snippets of 1.25 but the playthrough im watching is of the first version. i dont feel like id be getting the true yiik experience if i watched the updated version

TY for the second ask!! And yes you should check it out if you’re interested. I’m not sure I can recommend it to people in it’s current state because the game does have a lot of issues, specifically the battle system which I.V is going to completely overhaul. If you can stomach the battle system, I’d recommend playing it, but if it seems too tedious you can just watch a playthrough.

Pro tip yiik goes on sale a lot, so if you buy it while it’s on sale you can play I.V as soon as the update hits (that way you’ll have extra money to buy the deviation perspective album/short story lol)

+ After you’ve played it or watched a playthough you can join the yiik discord if there’s questions you have about what’s going on lol (invite code is literally just “yiik”)

i have a very strange attachment to turnabout curtain. its very pretty and major plot elements are usually executed reeall well (esp the trial i think that shit goes extremely hard) HOWEVER its jokes range from funny to "?", its serious topics werent handled the greatest i think? and. well. if youve played the case you probably know what id type here that was the most jarring (though i actually kind of like it i do feel its less interesting) also the fifth ace thing felt a slight bit contrived but it was kind of cool still.

ive grown to like cascade theater oddly enough??? i think its a long, harrowing, fucked up mess that doesnt have nearly enough content warnings in front of it but its true ending is pretty hopeful in comparison, which is the point of the game iirc. i dunno

the empty turnabout is technically truncated (theres a whole document with its original ending details) but i think i wouldve been meh to it regardless. i have a soft spot for athena though which i think is an opinion that would land me on someone's dni if more than four people remembered this case

turnabouts of the father is literally yiik actually i just realized this and im so mad (im lying, i realized this a week ago)

i tried playing a lot of these (tomorrow, father, assistant's) when i was, fucking nine years old but they were all too hard for me to get past any of their first testimonies oops

that being said i remember watching a playthrough of turnabout tomorrow and it was actually really interesting. it also ties into the dragon's turnabout somewhat which is neat i think

all the top tier cases are interchangeable in my opinion but if i had to pick id say revivals is the best one. its so fucking good.

though i do think too many faces is probably the most well rounded and has probably my favorite dwam character ([redacted] i think youre so good)

i recently tried playing both denouement and downfall but both are severely broken in different ways and also unfinished

Watching ManlyBadassHero's playthrough of it and it's like the Morbius of games. I know YIIK is usually called the Morbius of games but it's really more like The Room of games. Anyways I think it's hilarious that they have the most normal voices ever like you can tell the VAs just called it a day

Why did nobody tell me Garten of Banban II is out. I don't give a shit about the game I just think it looks absolutely terrible and love watching videos of people tearing apart mascot horror games

The thing about YIIK from watching jack saints analysis and playthrough that I gathered was that it has some legitimately stunning imagery and ideas but it’s all bogged down by glaring flaws and insensitivities towards Elisa lam and the lower class, among others

Yea the new host are fun too !! I was really enjoying the worm lets plays. Zach is an absolute creature of a man. I think its scientifically impossible not to pick up his CLASSIC little catchphrases

I mean I miss their lets plays because it was really the cream of the crop for me, i briefly watched game grumps but i quickly switched over... they had unique outlooks on gaming and they always made their own opinion instead of following the zeitgeist

You can see it in yiik cuz they're really trying to understand what the hell this train wreck of a game is trying to do, instead of bashing it like others have

They're also so fucking funny. So many classic funnies..... the monster mash...dingdong president.....would you torture tiny hitler....THE KICKSTARTER BIT
