Hideyoshi's Sequel Summary - Common Route (Ch 1-6)
This is a loosey-goosey summary of Hideyoshi's sequel from what I remember after blasting through about 2 routes in 1.5 days due to the election, haha. Some little portions may be very slightly out of order and I have probably left out some of the less plot-relevant moments/interactions but the general gist of everything should be right.
Also this is nearly 4k words I'm so sorry
Warnings:
Described gore/gruesomeness
A suicide attempt
Continuations:
Tragic End | Blissful End | Passionate End
As all Ikesen sequels do, Hideyoshi's starts out with Mai returning to Azuchi following the attack on Nobunaga's castle and her travel guide blank. As she tries to make her way to the others, worried, she is surrounded by a group bandits who look to be in the human trafficking business and taking advantage of the chaos in Azuchi. Just as she's about to try making a break for it, Hideyoshi comes swooping in and saves the day, beating down all of the bandits singlehandedly. After Mai is saved, they share a sweet reunion and moment together. However, they are being watched in that moment by spies that Kicho had planted in Azuchi...
Later, Mai sits in on a war council. Unrest is rising in surrounding territories due to the attack on Azuchi, and the warlords have their hands full dealing with them all. Although the conflict with the Ikko-Ikki is dealt with (following Hideyoshi's eternal route) and a ceasefire has been brokered with the Uesugi-Takeda forces in the meantime, not all is well. Busiest of all is Hideyoshi, who is sent every which way in order to help act as a mediator between various uneasy and discontent factions. During this time, Mai is also introduced to Keiji, who reports that Kicho was the one behind the attack on Azuchi and that he is working together with the presumed-dead Motonari. The pair appear to be distributing weaponry, especially guns, to the populace: a sample has been procured and Nobunaga looks to Mai, asking her whether she thinks she, with no training, could use this. Mai herself is very uneasy about the thought of actually using a gun to hurt someone, but she knows that a gun isn't actually all that difficult to use. She answers that she would be able to use the pistol with minimal training, confirming Nobunaga's suspicions.
Everyone gets busy. Hideyoshi leaves to go help mediate between factions in a bordering province, and Mai has a full day of seamstress work ahead of her at Azuchi Castle. They shared a goodbye kiss as is usual, but Hideyoshi jolts as if startled. He said he felt something on his lips as they kissed. Mai didn't notice anything, and suggests that maybe it was some static? After a quick explanation of what static buildup is, they dismiss it since it doesn't seem to be anything major, and go their separate ways.
As Mai works, Ieyasu and Mitsunari drop by with a request to mend their clothes too. Mai accepts, and after a moment of silence, Ieyasu remarks that Hideyoshi really was right. He'd asked them to check in on Mai to make sure she wasn't working herself too hard in his absence. But, well, the request to mend their clothes was still real. They're both so busy with riding back and forth between one potential uprising and the next that their clothes are wearing out fast. That just gives Mai more fuel for thought and worry, hoping that Hideyoshi is all right out there. Mai quickly finishes up the repairs on Ieyasu and Mitsunari's clothes, but just as she's handing the clothes back to them, something about her fingers seems to jolt them too. It's not painful, but it is startling. But alas, duty calls, and they leave soon as well.
Later Hideyoshi returns, unharmed and just as eager to see Mai again as she is to see him. They have their moment together, and spend a very enjoyable night with each other. However, come morning... Hideyoshi reaches out to touch Mai, but immediately pulls back in pain. He's frantic as he asks if she's okay, but she hasn't noticed anything strange at all. However, there's no way to brush this off anymore. They quickly call the warlords to an emergency meeting in order to explain the situation: people who touch Mai seem to experience pain.
Of course, this sounds unbelievable, so it is proposed that they test it out. Mai doesn't like the idea of hurting the others, but Ieyasu talks her into covering all their bases in order to better understand this strange illness(? if it is an illness, anyway). So one by one Mai takes turns touching the different warlords, and almost everyone displays a strong reaction, with Hideyoshi seeming the worst off. Keiji, however, reports only a slight irritation where Mai touched him. After some thought and one more experiment where Nobunaga summons a complete stranger to Mai for her to touch, they work out that the closer Mai is with someone, the more pain they feel. Keiji, who was just an acquaintance, only feels a mild irritation, while the maid who was completely unfamiliar to Mai felt nothing at all. And her lover, Hideyoshi, is hurt worst of all.
Mai is completely horrified by the idea that her touch and presence could hurt people, so she runs out of the meeting hall in devastation. Hideyoshi runs after her, but she says not to come closer and shurts herself away in her room. But Hideyoshi is there, standing just outside the door. If she wants space, that's all right, he'll give her space. But she just has to remember that he will always be there for her and that she isn't alone.
The next day, Nobunaga summons the both of them to his chambers for a meeting. Supposedly, there is a hot springs in the mountains that has some spiritual healing powers. Nobunaga tells Mai she should go there in order to recover and recuperate, and Hideyoshi should go with her. She expresses surprise that Nobunaga would believe in such things, but Nobunaga says he doesn't, actually. But this is a stressful situation for her to be in, and she's obviously distressed by the possibility of coming into contact with someone and hurting them. It may do her some good to spend some time away from Azuchi and that possibility, let her calm down in a relaxing hot spring, and give Hideyoshi some time off after he's been run ragged trying to keep a full blown uprising from starting these past few weeks. It's Nobunaga's way of giving the lovebirds some time to themselves, basically.
So they set off, with the other warlords seeing them off as they ride away. Masamune packed some bentos for them, Ieyasu made medicine, Mitsuhide shows up with water supplies, etc etc. Some requisite teasing and banter ensues, of course, but it's a relatively lighthearted departure. Mai notes that she doesn't seem to be causing the horse any pain by touching it, and Hideyoshi is careful to avoid direct skin contact as they ride together, so everything is going well.
Up until it doesn't.
Partway through the journey, they are attacked by a group of ruffians, declaring that they've found the Sacrificial Princess and to hand her over. It doesn't take long to figure out that they're referring to Mai, and that they intend to kill her, believing her to be someone who brings misfortune and suffering to everyone around her, and to the nation as a whole. They intend to sacrifice her to appease the heavens, who were angry at Nobunaga for his conquest over the lands and were thus punishing people by giving rise to all the unrest and violence as of late. Hideyoshi, of course, believes that it's all bullshit and does not entertain the thought of handing Mai over for even a second. However, their attackers are all adamant that Mai must be killed. And lo, they say, they are proven right as during the battle, Mai nearly slips off the horse and Hideyoshi has to catch her--and his arm immediately begins to start turning red and burn where it comes into contact with her. See? She only brings pain and suffering, and therefore, she must die.
Mai is yelling at Hideyoshi to let go of her, but he refuses, growing more ruthless and violent the more fervently their attackers try to get to Mai. He eventually cuts them all down, though one is left alive for them to interrogate. The remaining attacker manages to choke out in his final breaths that posters of Mai's face and her supposed crimes against the heavens have been spread far and wide across every village there is, so even if Hideyoshi kills him here, more people will come to finish the job.
Now that the fight is over, it's time to take stock of injuries. Mai is unharmed, but Hideyoshi's arms are red all over and completely scalded. They make use of the water that Mitsuhide handed them and Ieyasu's medicine, but even so, Hideyoshi almost collapses and is overtaken by a fever from the injury when they make it to an inn to rest for the night. Mai is overcome with guilt over the injuries that she caused, and when Hideyoshi slips into a fevered sleep, she has to leave the inn, afraid to be in the same room as him while he sleeps.
She takes a walk in the forest nearby, ruminating over everything. That's when she hears footsteps approaching. Panicking over the thought that it might be more people who are after her, she's about ready to run, though the sight of a familiar figure stops her. It's Kennyo--whom she last seen in Hideyoshi's eternal route trying to send her and Nobunaga over the edge of a cliff-- accompanied by a young pink-haired man she doesn't know. She's still afraid that Kennyo will try to kill her, but Kennyo explains that he wants no such thing. Ranmaru introduces himself, and the two of them explain that they know about the Sacrificial Princess rumor, and that it is actually Kicho's work, and part of his plans to engulf the country in unending war and conflict. They know this because the one who saved Kennyo after he fell off the cliff was Motonari, so they had, for a brief time, worked together. But upon finding out that Kicho's plan involved the prolonging of senseless suffering and war, they could not bring themselves to keep working with him, and cut ties with both Kicho and Motonari to go their own way.
When Mai asks why they're telling her this, Kennyo says that it is his form of atonement. For wrapping her, innocent and uninvolved, in his plot for revenge against Nobunaga. But if this is not repayment enough, then Kennyo would offer her his life. He places a dagger before her, and Mai can tell that he's actually serious. He'd let her kill him if she didn't think that he had redeemed himself enough.
Mai has absolutely no desire to hurt anyone. She can't forget what Kennyo did to her, but she doesn't hate him, and she doesn't want to see him dead. She doesn't think Ranmaru does either. But if he does feel the need to atone for it in blood, she takes that dagger and presses it lightly against Kennyo's finger to give him a light cut. Let that be the price he must pay in blood. If he is truly serious about redemption, then she asks him to live. Thanking him and Ranmaru for the information once more, she goes to leave.
Hideyoshi is there to see her, revealing that he had been listening from the beginning, but he's just glad to see her safe. He also expresses relief that Ranmaru is safe as well. They quickly return to the inn as Hideyoshi is still weak from his fever, and he almost collapses again as soon as they make it back. It's definitely time to rest for the night, so they pull apart their futons to make sure that they don't end up touching each other in their sleep. But it's hard, being apart like this when the both of them want and need comfort.
The next day, Hideyoshi is mostly healed up. A doctor has proclaimed the worst of his injuries dealt with properly, so the burns won't even scar. And that is when Mai, who had spent the night thinking about what Kennyo had revealed, tells Hideyoshi her plan: she wants to talk to Kicho. Nobody was supposed to know about Mai's touch bringing pain and burns to others; heck, she didn't even know about the burn part until after the people who attacked her did, even. So what does Kicho know, and how does he know about it? They need answers, and the only way to get them is to speak with Kicho directly. Hideyoshi wants to disagree, but he acknowledges that she's right, so he says that he'll go with her to Sakai after sending a letter to Nobunaga and the others to update them on the situation.
Back at Azuchi, the other warlords receive Hideyoshi's letter explaining the situation. They've been growing more and more tired with the unrest seeming to grow more and more out of control with every passing day. Hideyoshi had excelled in mediating disputes and keeping everything balanced, and without him it's hard for everyone remaining to keep things under control. And they've all been hearing about this Sacrificial Princess rumor as well, and everyone's worried about how the two of them are holding up. Nobunaga then says that he has a letter to write, and Keiji also asks to send a letter since he had infiltrated Sakai before and may have some useful information.
In Sakai, Mai and Hideyoshi are, for just a moment, taking a break. Mai is wearing a cloth over her head and face to disguise herself, because on the way to Sakai they'd been chased out of town and attacked by people who had recognized her face as the Sacrificial Princess. Hideyoshi, knowing how hard and stressful this has been on her, decides that they're just going to enjoy themselves out in town for a bit. They go to a tea shop and have sweets, window shop all the rare foreign goods like textiles and accessories that Sakai has to offer, they just let themselves enjoy things for a bit. Hideyoshi just wants to see Mai smile again.
And then night falls, and it's time to put their plan into motion. While Hideyoshi had genuinely wanted Mai to enjoy herself and be happy for a while, he had also been keeping an ear to the ground as they had gone around town, and he had found out that Kicho was going to be heading out of his merchant house that evening. If they wanted to ambush Kicho, now would be the time. So they track down Kicho, Hideyoshi knocks out his guards, and he says that if Kicho wants to live, he'd better do everything he says.
Completely unflapped, Kicho says that actually, it should be the other way around, and promptly summons dozens more underlings to take on Hideyoshi. Mai is taken away by Kicho as the guards keep Hideyoshi busy. He spirits her away to his merchant house, and we get the usual explanation of Kicho's plans and the reveal that he knows of the future as well, as with most other routes. (Meanwhile, Kennyo and Ranmaru show up to lend a hand to Hideyoshi, who was not having trouble with the guards per se, as none of them were strong enough fighters to really put him in any danger, but there was a lot of them to get through. Ranmaru and Kennyo buy him the time to break away and go after Mai)
And, like in other routes as well, Kicho is also affected by the changes in the timeline. Like Mai, he is unable to touch people he knows without burning them. It's how he knew about the symptoms to spread the Sacrificial Princess lie. As for how he found out... he did some experiments, you see. He picked a random one of his underlings and pretended to take a deeper interest in the man, cultivating a relationship of admiration and (assumed) trust. As expected, Kicho's touch began to hurt and eventually burn the man, with the injuries worsening the deeper that relationship became. Eventually it reached the point where meeting Kicho's gaze blinded the man, which was when Kicho decided to end the experiment.
However, at that point, it was too late. Kicho had left the room and ordered everything stopped, but just hearing Kicho's voice through the walls was enough to kill the man. Witnesses who were in the room at the time reported that the man's skin had eventually begun to actually melt, and he died in agony.
With this vision of what lies in store for her and Hideyoshi, Mai is completely shaken. Kicho lets her leave unharmed, seeing as how he has no particular reason to kill her at this point in time, and it in fact behooves his plan to have her live. The whole reason he spread the rumor of the Sacrificial Princess in the first place is specifically because he knew it would provoke Hideyoshi the most. Hideyoshi is a balancing force and mediator among the Oda forces, and throwing Hideyoshi off will throw the Oda off as well. The impacts of it can be seen already: how the Oda are having trouble managing the unrest without Hideyoshi... and also how Hideyoshi himself gradually grows more brutal and less and less prone to trying to convince the people after Mai's life to stand aside with every ambush.
Hideyoshi meets up with her soon after and after making sure she's okay, they leave for a safe place and to recover for the night. Mai tells him some of what she learned: Kicho's goals, his reason for spreading the Sacrificial Princess rumor to disrupt Hideyoshi and the Oda forces. But she keeps the extent of the effects on her hidden, too overwhelmed and upset to think about addressing that right now.
On the journey back to Azuchi, they stop at a seaside inn to spend the night. One morning as they're having a meal together, Hideyoshi tries to reassure her that everything will end up all right, and Mai almost allows herself to believe him. But at that moment, Hideyoshi winces in pain and holds a hand to his eye. Did the sun's rays hit him in just the wrong spot, he wonders? But Mai, with the knowledge from Kicho about how her symptoms will progress, immediately begins wondering if this is the start of the end, and makes a quick excuse and dashes out of the inn.
She spends some time by the seashore, worried and afraid and stewing in her own thoughts. However, she's soon approached by a man who once again recognizes her as the Sacrificial Princess and attempts to kill her. Hideyoshi, who had grown worried about Mai intervenes just in time, keeping Mai close to him to protect her even as she yells at him to let her go so he won't burn himself. He tells her that there's no way he'd do that, that this is nothing in order to make sure that she's safe. The man lashes out in anger and fear, asking why Hideyoshi is protecting Mai: she's the Sacrificial Princess who's the cause of the suffering in the world. Does he want the world to destroy itself? Is that it? Hideyoshi responds back: Mai is his treasure, and he will not let anyone lay a hand on her.
After some skirmishing, they manage to make it to a safe and isolated section of the beach. Hideyoshi says it's a good thing that the guy gave up relatively soon and that Mai wasn't hurt. But Mai has just about hit her breaking point after this latest attack and the knowledge of what is to come in the future. Walking past Hideyoshi, she walks straight into the ocean, and keeps going.
She's submerged up to her calves; Hideyoshi yells at her to stop. She ignores him.
Up to the waist now. The currents are growing strong. And still she keeps going, defeated step after defeated step.
Alarmed, Hideyoshi runs after her and grabs onto her to stop her. But she yells at him to let her do this, she doesn't want to do this anymore. She reveals to Hideyoshi what Kicho told her about the progression of her symptoms. What she really wants is to live together with Hideyoshi and everyone else. But how can she do that if her very presence hurts them and will eventually kill them? This is for the best, she says. For everything to end so no one can be hurt by her anymore.
Hideyoshi just holds onto her more fiercely. He insists that even if Mai thinks that the best thing is to throw her own life away, her life has value and meaning and he is so so grateful for every day that he can spend with her. The words ring familiar: their positions are reversed now, compared to Hideyoshi's eternal route. When he was willing to die, believing it to be the only way that he could be of use, Mai was the one who convinced him that even if he thought the only person he would be hurting was himself, everyone around him would bear the pain of his hurts with him too; that his life has its own intrinsic value not tied to how useful or worthy he was; that the simple truth of his existence is something worth celebrating. He's never forgotten that lesson for a moment, and now that things have come to this, he'll do the same for Mai for as many times as it takes for her to realize the same about herself.
The unconditional love and support breaks Mai, and she begins crying as Hideyoshi leads her out of the ocean. She apologizes, promising not to try to kill herself again. Hideyoshi tells her she has nothing to apologize for, and they return back to their rooms to rest for the night and recuperate from the emotional rollercoaster of the day. They can't hold each other directly, but some careful wrapping of each others' bodies around some clothes mean that they can still have a little bit of comfort from each other, at least.
The next day their journey back to Azuchi continues. Unfortunately, their path goes right through the battlefield of one of a recent uprising, and there are still some armed soldiers lingering around the area. Their conversation makes it abundantly clear that they're hunting for the Sacrificial Princess, lamenting the violence that has destroyed their hometowns and families and hoping that they find her soon so that they can put an end to everything. Hideyoshi and Mai try to stay hidden as they maneuver around the battlefield but unfortunately they are detected. Hideyoshi is left with no choice but to fight...

an: hi lovesss!!!! I present you with a new fic, finally. this song is loosely based off of "bed chem" by sabrina carpenter, and the one and only quinn hughes. this is one of my favorites, I'm really happy with how it turned out! I hope you all enjoy, like and reblog if you did :)
as always, much much love <3
He caught your attention in a room full of people, your eyes stuck to him like glue. Your eyes followed his every movement, watching him wordlessly from across the busy club. Watching how he interacted with the people around him, how his lips broke into a smile as he laughed at something someone said to him.
He, whoever he was, was beautiful. From his hair, eyes, smile, everything. Not to mention how his white fitted shirt looked on him. The fit was so perfect, it almost looked like it was painted on him. You felt like a creep looking at him, but you couldn't help it. There was just something about him that was almost addictive? Something bad, but yet so so good.
“Are you done staring at him like a creep, or are you gonna go over and say something?” your friend says besides you, snapping you out of daydream
“I wasn't looking..just observing” you say, clearing your throat, before taking a drink of the watered down cocktail in front of you in hopes to avert your gaze from the Greek god of a man in front of you.
“Well..he and his friends just looked over here and pointed.” she giggles from besides you
“Shit. Are you joking? Youve got to be joking right?” you whisper-yell to her in a state of panic
“Nope,” she says, popping the p.
“Oh god, yn they're coming over here now.” she says frantically
“Oh my god” you say, moving to sit up straighter in your seat. Your eyes move to follow the very attractive man and his friends make their way over to you guys.
“Shit he is hot, and so are his friends.” your friend gushes out besides you
“Shut it, act normal, talk to me about something.” you say quickly, your eyes flickering to the men who are moving in closer.
Your friend starts talking to you about something random, but you can't concentrate on her words. Your mind is locked in the man approaching, that you can't gather another thought about anything else, as you watch them in the corner of your eye. Just as they are about to reach the table, another large group of men cuts in front of them. Wrapping each of the men into hugs, yelling and smiling as they interact, with what you assume are their friends.
“Youve got to be kidding me” she says, stopping mid sentence of her empty word ramble.
“ well..thats, that i guess” you sign out, looking as the men pull each other to the bar in the opposite direction.
“Guy in the white shirt is looking at you, look up look up.” she says slapping your arm
Quickly reacting, pulling your head up. Your eyes find him quickly, as he looks back at you. Sending you a quick wink and smirk before he turns around following his friends.
“Oh my gosh. Yn he so wants you”
“I don't even know if i'll see him again”
“Never say never.”
You giggle at her opsitism, before throwing the rest of your drink back, hopping out of your seat, moving to grabher hands pulling her towards the dance floor.
“Come on! We came to have fun, right?” you shout at her, as you two giggle walking hand in hand to the dance floor.
–
After lots of fun, maybe too much fun and a few more drinks later. You finally make your way back to your hotel. You come back solo you might add, your friend being pulled away by a hot mysterious man who caught her attention. Leading her to follow him out of the club with a wide smile on her face.
Sighing deeply as you stare at your shoes waiting for the elevator door to open, a few moments later a loud ding signals in the opening. Heading in quickly, and hitting your floor. Leaning your exposed back against the cool elevator door, the only thing on your mind is taking off your shoes, and washing a somewhat disappointing night out away.
Just as the elevator is about to close, you hear a man shouting to hold the door. Pushing yourself off the wall to hit the open button. The out of breath man quickly moves in, as you look up to ask him what floor he needs, you're face to face with, hot fitted white shirt man, who's staring at you with widened eyes.
“What floor do you need?” you ask quietly, struggling to find your words.
“Um, 69 please, oh wait you've already pressed that.” The man finally speaks to you, his deep voice filling the now closed elevator.
“You're the girl from the club tonight.” he says looking over at you from across the elevator.
“And you're the guy” you say
“Felt you looking at me, the whole night” he says, his words causing a blush to rise to your cheeks as you look back down at your shoes.
“Don't be embarrassed, i was looking too.” he continues
“I saw” you spoke
“Almost had you too” he says
“Almost..” you repeat to him softly, your gaze flickering between his lips and eyes.
“Well we’re here now” he replies
“You have 9 floors to make something happen..” you trail off
“Quinn. My names quinn” he says
“Yn. my names yn”
“Well yn i only need 2 floors to make this happen” quinn says, quickly making his way over to you. One of his hands meeting your hip as the other holding your face, pulling you into him, your lips connecting as one.
The motion happens so quickly you barely have time to register what your body is doing until you're kissing him back quickly. Your hands tangle themselves into his hair as you pull yourself into his body.
You two are so wrapped up into each other that you don't even realize the elevator has stopped, the door opening slowly.
Quinn pulls back, his lips swollen as he looks down at you. “How was that for something yn?” he says, dropping his gaze down to you.
“I think i might need you to show me a bit more” you whisper
“Oh really?” he says as he slowly pulls you out of the elevator.
“Mhm” you mumble to him
“Lead the way” he says, dropping his hand from you, waiting on your next move.
You take a second to take him in natural light. Everything about him is intoxicating, you need more. No matter the cost, or how bad of an idea it could be. You don't care, not right now. Before you can give it a second thought, you're pulling him by his hand by your room. Your steps are quick, your body hot with need.
Reaching your room quickly, dropping Quinn's hand, as you start searching for your key card, you feel Quinn's hot body against yours. His lips finding your neck and his hands back on your hips as he pulls you back against him. Your movements began to halter as he began to get lost in his touch.
“Quinn..you have to get off me for 30 seconds so i can open the door”
“Mhm. I know, but I'm getting impatient. I've wanted you all night.” he says against your neck, his warm breath sending chills down your body.
“You wanna know what i've thought about and what i'm thinking about right now? Hm?” he asks
“Yes, yes tell me” you gasp out, your hands trying to move quickly, still in search of the key.
“How the dress would look on the floor, how your body would look against mine. How youd look all fucked out for me in my bed” he says, his lips tight to your ear.
Just as he finishes his sentence, your hands grasp the key card in your purse. Pulling it out quickly, and tapping it against the door aggressively, pushing the door open as soon as it buzzes open.
Quinn moves quickly, pushing you in slamming the door, and before you know it his lips are against yours as if they never left. You're quick to turn him around, your hands moving against the buttons on his shirt as he hits the bed, pulling you on top of him; your lips never once leaving each other.
“You're dangerous” quinn says pulling away from your lips
“Why's that?” you ask, your hands still working to unbutton his shirt.
“I've barely had any of you, and i dont think ill ever get enough” he says looking at you
“Who said you ever have to stop, we’re just getting started” you say while unbuttoning the last button on his shirt before pushing it off his shoulders.
Quinn responds with a look and a small smirk and you know what that means.

Hi! Love your sonia characterisation and from your ooc posting, I see your tastes are great~ Can I ask the mun: do you have any recommendations for books or TV series? c:
Hi anon! Thank you so much for your kind words regarding my IC content and OOC ramblings, that's really nice of you to say. I'm happy to recommend some things (I admit I did a 'Stitch laughing maniacally on a pile of wreckage' when I got this ask because anon, I am not sure you know what you have asked to unleash!).
However, I wasn't sure if you were asking for recommendations for books/TV series that have directly inspired my Sonia portrayal, or recommendations of things I enjoy in general. With that in mind, I'm going to be sharing a long list of books, TV series, manga/webtoons, and story-based video games that I just happen to like.
If you're looking for media that has directly inspired my portrayal though, please send another ask and I'd be happy to narrow it down for you!
In order not to keep the dash tidy, everything is under a cut, with notes (some important, some just me making jokes) beside a few of them. I hope you find a new favorite book/series to enjoy!
Books:
General Notes: For book series where the first book title isn't the series name, I've indicated which book to start with, save for the historical romances because that's easier to find online and there's a lot of them. I hope that helps! Additionally, for all romance series, assume that there is some mention of sexual content in various degrees of description, aka. "spice." Depending on your comfort level of literary sex, I highly recommend checking out each title on https://www.romance.io/ for their spice level rating, at the very least. The site will also show you tropes found in each book as well as reviews.
Contemporary Romance:
The Time-Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
American Royals series by Katharine McGee
Crazy Rich Asians series by Kevin Kwan (way, way better than the movie! It's a trilogy, followed by China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems. I'd highly recommend this if you are writing a modern wealthy character of East Asian descent. Yes it's romance, humor, and contemporary family drama, but it gives what's apparently a very accurate look at high society)
Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade (if you are looking for contemporary romance with plus size heroines, you want to check out Olivia Dade! Also Mary Warren and for young adult romance, Kelsie Stelting)
Modern Royals series by Aven Ellis (start with A Royal Shade of Blue)
The Royal Runaway by Lindsay Emory
The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan (and its sequel, The Heir Affair)
One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston (this was better than Red, White, and Royal Blue, IMO)
Fantasy Romance:
Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas
Crescent City series by Sarah J. Maas
A note about SJM series: I highly suggest reading TOG or ACOTAR first, with the understanding the first three or so TOG books and the first ACOTAR books have a slower pace and are more about worldbuilding than anything else. Read Crescent City after these two (CC 1 is also a big, long worldbuilding book). You must read ACOTAR to read CC, but you do not need to read TOG to read CC (though you'll miss some of the references/easter eggs!).
The Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros (Start with Fourth Wing)
The Shepherd King duology by Rachel Gillig (Start with One Dark Window)
The All-Souls Trilogy/series by Deborah Harkness (Start with A Discovery of Witches)
Historical Romance:
Don't Want You Like a Best Friend by Emma Alban
Love by Numbers series by Sarah MacLean (start with Nine Rules to Break While Romancing a Rake. If you finish this series and like her writing, move on to the Bareknuckle Bastards series and the Rules of Scoundrels series)
Spindle Cove series by Tessa Dare (start with A Night to Surrender. If you liked this series, move on to the Castles Ever After series and the Girl Meets Duke series)
pretty much anything by Lisa Kleypas (Bridgerton fans? This is how you get over your hangover/wait between finishing the books and/or Season 3. start with the Wallflowers or the Hathaways series, then move onto the Ravenels and the Bow Street Runners series. This is mostly historically the chronological order with crossover characters between the Wallflowers and Hathaways. Bow Street Runners is chronologically before Wallflowers but it's disappointing if you read it first, trust me!)
everything by Jane Austen. Just everything.
Series/books I'm in the middle of/currently on my TBR list so I can't recommend them fully yet but I'm actively reading them:
The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black (start with The Cruel Prince)
Letters of Enchantment duology by Rebecca Ross (start with Divine Rivals)
Crowns of Nyaxia series by Carissa Broadbent (Start with The Serpent and the Wings of Night)
Hades x Persephone saga by Scarlett St. Clair (Start with A Touch of Darkness)
The Shadow and Bone trilogy by Leigh Bardugo (and Six of Crows. And everything else: I've yet to dive into Bardugo's series)
A League of Extraordinary Women series by Evie Dunmore (Start with Bringing Down the Duke)
Royals series by Rachel Hawkins (start with Prince Charming)
Infamous by Lex Croucher
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree
Deliciously Dark Fairytales series by K.F. Greene (Start with A Ruin of Roses)
TV series:
Downton Abbey (my love for this show runs deep. It changed my life!)
The Gilded Age (Carrie Coon deserves an Emmy for this at some point I s2g)
The Crown (Claire Foy is the best QEII, Elizabeth Debicki is the best Diana, Josh O'Connor is the best Charles)
Gossip Girl (original 2007 series, not the remake)
The Royals (the E! show)
Succession (Come for Brian Cox emotionally and verbally harass his children, stay for Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, Matthew MacFayden, Conheads, and a Ludicrously Capacious Bag.)
The White Lotus (Tanya is ICONIC.)
Miss Scarlet and the Duke
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (If you like Miss Scarlet, I can almost guarantee you will like Miss Fisher. And vice-versa.)
All Creatures Great and Small (the remake)
Sanditon
Black Mirror
Skins (UK series only)
Sex Education
The IT Crowd (the creator is an ass. The show is eternal.)
The Great
The Sopranos
The Empress
The Fall of the House of Usher
Midnight Mass (arguably the best Flanagan series. Fight me.)
Marie Antoinette (2022 TV series)
Dickinson
Euphoria
Stranger Things
The Tudors
Versailles
Unforgotten
Endeavour (you don't need to have seen Inspector Morse beforehand but it helps contextualize where some of this cast ends up in the future! Endeavour is the best murder mystery show ever written, IMO. Unforgotten is a close contender for second place.)
Outlander
Sherlock
Mad Men
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
American Horror Story (earlier seasons are way better than the later ones)
Gentleman Jack
Ted Lasso
Emily in Paris
Pride and Prejudice (the 1995 miniseries with Colin Firth)
Books and TV (that is, read and watch both!):
Bridgerton (books by Julia Quinn)
Magpie Murders (books by Anthony Horowitz. One of my few book recs that isn't a romance! Horowitz is a wonderful contemporary mystery writer)
Webtoons/manga:
(Because some people prefer manga/webtoons to novels! I have read all of these on MangaKatana. Mostly fantasy romance and contemporary romance, several have been made into J or K-dramas)
Under The Oak Tree
See You In My 19th Life
What's Wrong With Secretary Kim?
Like Wind on a Dry Branch
Marriage of Convenience
Father, I Don't Want to Get Married!
We Are Not Ourselves Today
An Hour of Romance
Innocent (The sole historical drama over here. Every sex and violence trigger warning you can imagine applies to this manga. It is also one of the most beautifully-drawn and intriguing stories I've ever read. Rose of Versailles fans, this is for you: this is your fave but darker.)
Marry My Husband
Video games with excellent storytelling:
(mostly. These are primarily otome games, mystery visual novels, and horror visual novels):
Zero Escape: The Nonary Games (there are three games in this series: 999, Virtue's Last Reward, and Zero Time Dilemma)
AI: The Somnium Files (There are currently two games in this series, AITSF and AITSF: Nirvana Initiative. Zero Escape and Somnium Files are basically required to play after Danganronpa. I said what I said: the storytelling is better)
Code: Realize (The best storytelling of all otome games, hands down. Do not watch the anime: it sucks. The first game is the best and really the only one you need to play. The other two games have okay side stories and are mostly romantic continuations of the first game's routes)
Collar x Malice
Cupid Parasite (mostly for the last two routes, though: if you're using a walkthrough guide. Generally much lighter than your usual otome...save for the last two routes that serve to break you.)
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (you could watch both seasons of the original anime if you really want to, but the games are better)
Umineko no Naku Koro ni (Note: please keep in mind this was written 10+ years ago in Japan, especially when you get to the Big Reveals in the final game. There are Some Takes that would go over poorly today. Like Code: Realize, do not watch the anime: IT SUCKS.)
Spirit Hunter: Death Mark
Spirit Hunter: NG (You don't technically have to play Death Mark first but it makes one of the endings far more impactful if you do!)
Honorable mentions:
Hakuoki (so many routes, so very long! But if you like Japanese history around this time, you may like this)
Olympia Soiree (good on the more mature content, bad on some of the LIs giving me pause like 'this is not a good romance idea')
Amnesia: Memories (I'm not a fan of the female main character or two of the LIs. At all.)
Piofiore (Similar complaints as Amnesia.)
#more-than-a-princess answered#more-than-a-princess musings#(Doing a Munday post today for my daily queued offering!)#(I've wanted a place to write down everything I recommend to read/watch/play and this ask was a great place for it)#(Thank you anon!)#(I'll link this in my bio too for future reference)#(LMK if you end up loving anything from this list!)

Hey I'm here for a matchup if that's okay?
I'm an INTP-T who uses she/her pronouns~ willing to be romantically paired with any male person from Obey me, Mystic Messenger or Tokyo Revengers.
I'm a January aquarius, so I am very sensitive. I am a really good person at heart, like- no joke here, I'd probably go out of my way to help others. My moonsign is Taurus- so yk how aggressive i can be if I want, but I only show aggression if I see some injustice happening ( no, not the "heroic" kind of injustice: I'll just probably help you if I saw someone being a Karen to you). I'm basically the kind of anon who sends asks to just check on you🤷♀️
Personality wise, I am kinda fluid. I generally match the energy of the person with whom I'm interacting- you wanna be an introvert, imma be an introvert. You wanna party? I'll get the drinks. That's the sort of person I am. So far, I've had no problem making friends (thank god for that). I do have my Karen moments tho. I am not the type of person who will be rude to someone randomly, but if you wanna pick a fight then square up~
One bad trait about me is that I can talk too much. Like, sometimes I do not even realise! And I end up over sharing with strangers?
Moving on..ahem...I don't have any set hobbies and I think saying "I LiKe tO rEaD" is too basic at this age😭. I like to do online shopping? Ig that's my only hobby altho it makes me broke.
A few random things about me- I love furry things, and that includes all sorts of furry animals and plushies. I love to cuddle but I don't like people touching me much so I cuddle with my pillow. I swear I started personifying my pillow at some point?
Coming to my lover, I'd like a person who would give me forehead kisses. I really need a partner who would let me cling onto him like a koala while I'm crying. I love all guys with glasses, no hinting at any particular character tho. I am fully capable of doing things on my own but sometimes I can't help imagining a lover who would do little things like carrying grocery bags with me, letting me walk on the inside of the sidewalk, making sure I don't hit my head while sleeping in the car. These little things are really cute yk?
I have no actual type besides guys with a bit of chivalry and sense of responsibility.
That's all ig. I hope it wasn't too long...and if it's too long then I'm so so sorry! I tend to get carried away sometimes!
Congrats on 1000 followers! Where's the party?
1000 Follower Event Matchup #24
This event is CLOSED. You van view the event masterlist here.
Note: Hey! This wasn't too long at all, I hope you enjoy who I matched you with :D
I match you with: LUCIFER, SAEYOUNG, and MITSUYA
Runner-ups were: Mammon, Jumin, and Chifuyu
Lucifer:
Let me quickly just start with the main reason why I matched you with him
I can just picture him at his desk doing some paperwork as you sit in his office rambling on and on about something, and I CAN JUST PICTURE HIM SMILING WHILE SILENTLY LISTENING TO YOU. like yes, he’s busy doing work, but he finds it so cute that you actually enjoy sitting with him and talking to him, keeping him company while he works
Will buy you whatever you want, spoils you rotten, gives you his card so you can do your online shopping that you love so much
I find Lucifer really old fashioned, so chivalry would definitely be very much alive with him as your partner
He pulls a chair out for you during dinner time, holds the door open for you, gives you his coat when it’s cold out, HOLDS AN UMBRELLA OVER YOU TO MAKE SURE YOU’RE COMPLETELY DRY WHILE HIS SHOULDER GETS WET (i clearly watch too many kdrams im sorry)
HE WEARS GLASSES WHEN HE DOES PAPER WORK, are you sold that he’s perfect for you yet?
Lucifer is always doing little things for you; whether it be buying you flowers or carrying you to bed if you fall asleep on the couch. HE’S ALWAYS GIVING 100000% for you okay?
Expect many forehead kisses with him, it’s his favorite place to kiss you aside from your lips :p
Saeyoung (707):
Glasses? Check
Furry animals? He loves cats and would probably kidnap one so you could have a furry friend. Check
Responsible guy?....kinda check? He has a serious job so he can definitely be responsible, but sometimes he just likes to be silly and laid back :)
Idk, I just think you’d be a really fun match together
He knows what it’s like to feel bad, so he’d always welcome you to cling to him whenever you’re having a bad day and can’t help but cry it out, he’ll always be your shoulder to cry on
Learns how to make stuffed animals so he can surprise you and make you your very own Saeyoung original stuffed animal lol
Struggles with giving you your personal space, but he’ll learn to not be so touchy with you if it truly bothers you or makes you uncomfortable; however, if you’re the first to initiate it, he welcomes it very happily
He admire how kind you are and sometimes feels like he doesn’t deserve you, but regardless he’s too far in now and can’t risk losing you
Also pretty chivalrous in doing little things for you to make you feel special like tying your shoe for you if he notices it's untied, and even placing his hand on the table to make sure you don't bump it if you bend down to pick something up off the floor
He's a great guy, just give him all your love and he'd make sure to love you just as much <3
Mitsuya:
I’m so mad, I match so many people with Mitsuya and it feels like I’m not giving anyone else a chance BUT I CAN’T HELP IT, HE’S SO PERFECT
He’s as responsible and chivalrous as they come
Perfect man, 10/10, would introduce him to your parents, he’s great
Mitsuya loves your sensitive side, but he’s very much attracted to how willing you are to defend anyone that needs it, your tough side coming out to protect another soul…yeah he’s in love
He’s a little jealous of your pillows that you love cuddling instead of him, so when you willingly run into his arms whenever you’re sad, he holds you tight, savoring you in his arms
Your ability to adapt to whoever you’re with is super helpful with him, especially when you’re around some of his friends who can be more rowdy, he’s always keeping an eye on you, thinking you may feel uncomfortable, but you always deal with everything just fine
ALSO I SEEN PICS OF HIM WITH GLASSES ON. AYEE
But really, Mitsuya is just husband material at this point
He goes out of his way all the time to surprise you with little things; whether it be arranging a romantic picnic for you, or waking you up with breakfast in bed whenever you spend the night, you will NEVER, be disappointed with him

Can you do one about harvey falling for the farmer at the moonlight jellies 😇
You most certainly can <3
I did have a hell of a time trying to figure out how to describe part of it? But also I added some magic
Also as I write these, I realize I might have made Amelia too short bc I feel like the guys are mostly tall lmao esp Harv
Amelia's second summer in Pelican Town was coming to an end. She went to the beach far too early for the gathering that evening. The moonlight jellies were making their way through the valley as they did every year. It was arguably her favorite night of the year.
Something about the glow as it lit up the entirety of the docks made her happy. It just reminded her that the world is even more beautiful than she'd even begun to know.
Everyone talked of a rare green jelly, said to bring you endless good luck that year. Some of the more romantic believers liked to say that if you saw it, you were in the presence of your soulmate and would find happiness with them this year.
She wanted to believe that these things were true. But behind all of her hope, there would always be that part of her that was skeptical of everything that might be good. Especially things as life-changing as love.
She lay on a blanket in the sand, watching clouds as they passed. It had to have only been about 7 pm or so. Thankfully she had her pack beside her stocked with snacks and some random things to do.
She heard her phone chime, pulling it from the side pocket of her bag. She smiled as she read the text:
Harvey 7:23 pm: Did you actually go down to the beach this early?
Harvey 7:23 pm: You’ll be miserable with all of those mosquito bites tonight. Don't say I didn't warn you! :P
She shook her head, her smile not faltering as she typed a reply:
Amelia 7:24 pm: I am most certainly here already! I'm excited! And there's not a mosquito in sight, thank you.
Amelia 7:25 pm: You should come to hang out. I have a huge blanket and snacks more fulfilling than a frozen TV dinner.
She sighed, content. She and Harvey had grown incredibly close over the past year. When she first met him, she didn't think he'd be her best friend. If anything, she cursed the town for having a cute doctor to take care of her at her most embarrassing moments. Although, she couldn't decide if his being her friend made it better or worse.
Harvey was notoriously bad at texting, so she had no idea if he'd actually come early, though she doubted he would come this early.
She lay for a while, her eyes closed before she jumped, startled by the blanket moving beside her. Her hand moved to her chest, playfully shoving the man beside her. He laughed, rubbing his arm.
“Harv! You can't just sneak up on people like that!” she teased, turning to grab her thermos full of coffee, cut off by Harvey holding out a paper cup of coffee from the saloon.
“I hardly snuck up on you. It's been about an hour and a half. Looks like bringing coffee was a good idea, even if you assault me,” he joked as she rolled her eyes.
“Well, at least it wasn't attempted murder! Yoba, my heart is still racing,” she laughed as she took a sip of the coffee, flavored just how she liked it. She tilted her head toward the bag, glancing back as she heard Pierre setting up already, “then I brought refills.”
They sat there for a long while, just talking until people started showing up. They stood up and gathered up the blanket and her bag, making their way to the end of the pier to stand at the edge. It was growing more crowded and darker quickly.
Harvey couldn't stop his smile as she grew more and more excited, rambling about how much she loved them the previous year.
“I've never actually been up this close to see them,” Harvey mentioned, laughing at the shocked look that he earned as a response, “I've always watched from the beach. It's still beautiful.”
“You won't be saying that when you see them like this. That much I promise,” she smiled up at him, “and maybe you'll see that rare green jelly. Brings you good luck, right?”
He was glad the darkness hid the pink hue in his cheeks as he shook his head, glancing to see Jas and Vincent lighting the boat together, “among other things, I've heard.”
She looked up at him before noticing the boat going out. Excited for the jellies themselves and his reaction, she grabbed his hand for a moment and squeezed. His heart was racing as if she had scared him. The glow of the creatures slowly made their way toward them, and he had to admit, she was absolutely right. It was truly beautiful.
Then he looked at her, the glow from the water mirrored over her features, and he found he couldn't look away. It was the mix of awe, excitement, and pure happiness that she held that lured him in. It all became clearer then, the random bouts of high heart rates, the feeling he gets when he sees her, as if everything got just a little brighter. It all made sense. And it terrified him.
He was falling in love with her.
The realization hit him like a truck, though he continued watching her like she would disappear if he looked away.
“Oh my… Harvey!” Amelia whispered excitedly, turning to get his attention, “ look !”
His gaze followed her finger, eyes widening as it floated there: the rare green jelly. He looked around, no one else seemed to see it there, though everyone was looking.
If you see the green jelly, you will have tremendous luck in your life and your soulmate is close at hand.
He recited the superstition in his mind, thrown off entirely by the fact that no one else could see it other than him and her.
Harvey was not a bold man. He was often quite timid and more than a little anxious. But at that moment, he wasn't anything other than certain this was what needed to happen.
He shifted, turning her towards him, reaching up so his hands framed her face, and held no pause in pressing his lips to hers.
It wasn't desperate or hungry. It wasn't full of passion or, Yoba forbid with everyone around, lust. It was just a soft kiss, his lips moving against hers in an attempt to wordlessly say what he’d been thinking all night. He felt her hands on his chest, fingers tucked under his lapel as he pulled back, the weight of his actions really occurring to him.
“Amelia, I..” he started, cut off by the smaller woman pulling his lips back down to hers in a second kiss, his fears melting away at the second, definitely deeper kiss. They heard a few hollers from the crowd, suddenly remembering that they were surrounded by quite literally the entire town. She stepped close to his side, his arm moving to rest around her and holding her closer. They watched as the green jelly floated off, guiding the rest of the group back into the night.
Once people started to leave, they turned to face one another, a teasing smirk playing at her lips, “first a heart attack, now you're stealing my breath?” she stood on her toes and kissed the spot where his chin meets his jaw.
“Where did that come from? The heat of the moment?”
He laughed, a little embarrassed, “I uh… You looked stunning in the glow… And then the green jelly… It sounds silly to say aloud.”
“A lot of people say it though, Harv… About the green jelly?”
He lifted his hand once more to frame her face, smiling as she leaned into it, “Amelia, no one else saw it.”
Her eyes widened slightly, “how… How do you know?”
“I looked around and not one person turned their eyes to it. And you couldn't miss it.”
She nodded slowly before pulling him back down into another kiss, this one holding a great deal more emotion behind it, her hands moving up to tangle into his already messy hair. After a moment, she pulled back and laughed, breathlessly, “I want to kiss you so much more , but you're so tall I can barely reach you.”
He laughed, his expression softening before he slipped his hand into hers, grabbing her backpack and blanket, “we can always–”
“Go hang out at my place?” she jumped in.
“That… Certainly works for me,” he cleared his throat, lacing their fingers together and smiling down at her affectionately.

Sick day
Baji x male reader (he/him pronouns, body anatomy isn't mentioned or implied so fellow transmasc people can read this as well)
Summary: you're sick so baji takes care of you
Tags: fluff, baji x reader, baji x male reader, baji lives au, time skip au,
A/n: small rant; this bitch in my English class had a cold and wasn't wearing her damn mask (dw I was wearing one but somehow still got it) and gave me it so I'm drowning in mucus and pissed as shit so I had an idea of writing about it :p also this is My first time writing a fanfic so I'm sorry if this is ass 💀
Baji opened the door to hear hacking and coughing from the hallway. He put the groceries on the kitchen counter and went to Y/ns room. He was reading [insert favorite book/comic] as Baji stood in the doorway. "how's my baby doing" "just peachy" Y/n replied. He started having another coughing fit "don't give me Corona '' his boyfriend snorted ''shut up, I'm dying over here" Y/n groaned in frustration as he put a arm over his eyes. "can you get me some medicine" ''nah I'm not gettin' near you, don't wanna get sick' ' Baji joked. Y/n rolled his eyes and threw a box of tissues at him.
Baji dodged it then picked it up "y'know what I'm taking these" Baji stated as he went back into the kitchen "wait Baji I was just kidding, give them back I need them I'm drowning in mucus- YOU DICK COME BACK HERE" Y/n got up from his bed into the kitchen.
"gimme those" the irritated boy snatched the tissue box from his boyfriend. Y/n then put them on the counter and looked for some ingredients in the cabinet. "Need anything?" Baji asked "what I need is a good coma, so if you could go ahead and knock me out that would be nice"
"Y/n no-"
"What? I've seen the way you punched Chifuyu, with your strength you could knock me out for a good two weeks. Then I wouldn't have to deal with this stupid cold anymore" Baji chuckled. "you're so dramatic"
"says the one who sets cars on fire when he's hungry" Y/n muttered as he pulled out a soup can. "Anyway I'm making soup" Baji grabbed it "no I'll make it you're sick" the shorter/taller boy grabbed it back. "absolutely not, last time you tried making something while I was out you nearly set the house on fire. I'll make it" Baji just grumbled as Y/n started cooking. Their cat came in and cuddled up to Bajis legs, he leaned down to pet her.
"Done" Y/n announced as he brought two bowls to the table and sat down.
While Y/n and Baji were eating he rambled about how one of the cats got out and him and kazu had to lure it back into its cage with treats (his boyfriend didn't doubt it, Baji always had a bad habit of accidentally leaving the cages unlocked sometimes) he simply nodded with what baji said, sinuses filling up his system to the point where he couldn't process a word that man was saying. After they were done eating Y/n threw himself back onto his bed, causing their cat to jump off. Baji followed suit and pulled his smaller/taller boyfriend into his arms as Y/n tried to squirm away.
"baji no you're gonna get sick"
"shut up I'm not gonna get sick, now let me cuddle you"
A/n: sorry if this seems a little rushed (I might edit it later) and I know baji is extremely ooc in this I'll try to make him more in character next time 💀

Tamaki Amajiki x F!Reader
Shy butterfly P.2
Warning:Lots of Fluff and Cuteness
You and Tamaki have being talking even more lately to the point he has even gotten comfortable with physical contact. But,now something's been on your mind, you have realized that you may have feelings for the shy boy.Confessing was the only option but, if you were to confess to him, he may just fall to the ground and die of embarrassment. So it might be best not to confess to him at school or in public for that matter. But,for now you think it's best to wait for him to open up to you.Cause at the moment it's just small talk and little gesters.
Little did you know that our shy bean was thinking about the same thing.Tamaki wanted to confess to you as well. But didn't know how to go about it,he thought that if he were to confess to you that you wouldn't wanna be with him.Or he thought he wasn't good enough for you.All thoses thoughts were driving him insane, soo finally he decided to confront mirio on what to do. Mirio advised him to tell you about how he felt but to go to a private place that you both like, to the park or something. Tamaki took his advice to heart after days of thinking and decided to ask you to go somewhere.
Class had just ended and Tamaki walked up to you.He looked down at his hands still not being able to look you in the eye "Um y/n,would you like to go to that park you always like to go to on Saturday at 6:00 p.m?"he says blushing slightly,You liked up and smiled."Of course, how could I say no to my favorite person"you say with a cute smile. He starts to blush extremely hard when you said that.He thought to him self'I'm her favorite person, uhh she's just joking right,I mean there's so many other people who could have the name tamaki and that are better then me and'his thoughts began to ramble to the point he pass out. Before he does so he can hear" Tamaki are you okay you don't look so well-".....
He looks up to find himself in the nurse's office, with recovery girl just shaking her head while she walking out. He looks over to the side and sees you sitting in a chair asleep. He thought to himself 'wow she really looks cute when she's asleep I don't even know how I'm supposed to tell her how I feel'. He snaps out if his thoughts and, gets out of the bed and taps you on the shoulder to wake up.
You wake up and yawn"Oh are you okay you just passed out?"you asked him concerned, he smiled at you and said"Uhhhh...no I'm fine". You grab your bag and start walking with him outside."oh I'll see you on Saturday"you say waving to him while you turn and walking away. He looked at you and can help but to smile standing there like an idiot for a few seconds, then he started to panic 'wait how am I supposed to confess to her Saturday'!!!!

𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐓; one
࿔*:・゚i.
next: ࿔*:・゚ii. | table of contents
BOTH GIRLS sat in the lobby of the hospital, (y/n) still flipping through the pages of the book. "So, are there any clues as to who he is?" asked Yasuho as she rested her chin on the other girl's shoulder. (y/n) shook her head, scanning over the pages like she had been doing ever since they had found the man a day prior. "I want to say that he's a Joestar but I can't confirm anything unless we find a family tree or something," sighed (y/n), closing the book with a huff, "plus, once great-great-grandma passed away, my Kishibe-side put that motto in place so I doubt we have any recent information on the Joestars."
Yasuho pouted solemnly as her grip tightened around the two packages of Sesame Honey Dumplings. (y/n) looked at the other girl from her peripherals, with a soft smile. "I'm sure we'll figure out who he is," (y/n) paused to place a hand on Yasuho's shoulders, only for her to whip her head to look at her with a furrowed brow. "What even are the mottos you're talking about?" Yasuho asked while scouring the other girl's face for answers and only receiving a strained smile.
"Well, as a Kishibe, I was told to never trust a 'Jojo' but as a Speedwagon, it looks like I always have to help a 'Joestar'; and as you can tell, there's a 'Jo' in 'Joestar'," she explained to Yasuho who still wasn't too satisfied. (y/n) smiled and stood up, holding out a hand to the pink-haired girl. "Don't worry," she assured as Yasuho took her hand, "I'm definitely going to fulfill my role as a Speedwagon. Even if he isn't actually a Joestar." Yasuho gave her a smile that made her heart skip a beat and her ears burn.
After pulling Yasuho up, (y/n) turned away, looking at the passersby without a clue as to why she was doing so. "P-plus, it might take a while, but I'm sure he'll figure out who he is eventually! In the meantime, why don't you take those dumplings to him?" Yasuho looked down at her gift and (y/n)'s lack of one. "Hey, didn't you say you'd get him a get-well gift?" Yasuho questioned, while (y/n) gave a playful scoff. "Yeah, of course! I have it right-" (y/n) froze at the sight of her great-great-grandma's old notebook— she forgot.
(y/n)'s gaze robotically fell onto Yasuho's second box of dumplings. "Yasuho, darling," (y/n) began with a few 'seductive' blinks of her eyelashes and with an arm on the wall by Yasuho's head, "think I could have that second box of dumplings?" Yasuho's brow furrowed as she gave (y/n) a knowing look. "That won't work on me, honey. The other box is for Joshu." (y/n) groaned and put her face in her hands, hoping to cover her flushed expression. And also because, ugh, Joshu existed and she just had to be reminded.
"Ugh. Right. That asshole is here too," (y/n) groaned while Yasuho began pushing her in the direction of the gift shop. Yasuho seemingly didn't have a comment on (y/n)'s hatred for him but the girl was far too nice to ever really have such a strong opinion on someone. "Do I have to get him something?" (y/n) whined while Yasuho gave her a tight-lipped smile, "aww, but Yasuhoo, I don't wannaaaa." "If I had to, so do you."
After a reluctant trudge over to the shop, the two girls found themselves standing in front of a shirt with an out-of-date slogan on it. While Yasuho looked through other clothes, (y/n) looked at it with proud tears in her eyes. "I...I think Mr. Joestar would love this," she said with a smoldering look, "I think it would be good to see him in it as a reference for that character I was telling you about." Yasuho looked at the shirt and back to (y/n) with a raised brow, "oh, c'mon (y/n), don't use the poor guy as reference material."
(y/n) hummed and took one final look at the shirt before tilting her head to the side, a pout on her face. She was really hoping to use him as a reference but if Yasuho was telling her not to, she'd have to listen. Well, at least while Yasuho was around. As she put the shirt back, (y/n) saw a bright pink scarf with sequins on it. In an instant, it was in her arms— a tacky gift for a tacky guy by the name of Joshu.
"Is that for who I think it is?" Yasuho asked while stifling a laugh, "please tell me it is." (y/n) gave her a wide grin before showing it off. "If you must know, it is for our dearest friend Joshu who requires some sparkle to bring back his eyesight." Yasuho doubled over before taking hold of the fabric, "I can't wait to see his reaction." "What's he going to react to? The feeling of the scarf?" Yasuho was reduced to a giggly mess while (y/n) smiled and turned to look through the stuffed animal section.
"I think I'll get Mr. Joestar one of these cuties," (y/n) said aloud once Yasuho's laughter had died down. She had placed her chin on (y/n)'s shoulder while the girl picked up a fluffy blue bear. "Think he'd like it?" asked Yasuho while fiddling with the ends of the pink scarf. (y/n) hummed for a moment before scanning the shelves, spotting a yellow dog with a sailor hat. "Hey...doesn't it kinda look like Josuke?"
Yasuho stared at the puppy with a fond smile, making (y/n)'s face burn— up close, Yasuho was awfully pretty. "You know, that guy kinda reminds me of him too." (y/n) brushed off her thoughts and held out the stuffed animal to look at from afar. While squinting, she somehow saw the guy's face. "Heh, you're right-" Yasuho stepped back, leaving (y/n)'s shoulder uncomfortably cold, "-I think I'll just get him this." Once purchased, and despite (y/n)'s complaints, they were off to Joshu's hospital room.
"(y/n)~ Yasuho~ You've come to visit little ol' me~?"
(y/n) grimaced as Joshu puckered his lips and batted his eyelashes while Yasuho gave him a hesitant smile. "Y-yeah! Just making sure you were okay, haha," Yasuho had mustered out before handing him a box of dumplings, "oh, and I got these for you." "Thank you, my little straw~ber~ry~," breathed out Joshu while (y/n) was on the verge of throwing up, preferably aimed into Joshu's gross mouth.
"As for you my favorite otaku~ Did you get me a get-well-present?" Joshu asked with a pout while she gagged. Yasuho nudged her and (y/n) was left to reluctantly pull out the scarf she had been previously excited to give to him. Sadly, the fool still had his vision so the joke was way less hilarious than she had hoped the exchange would be. "A scarf." Before he could say another word, she had chucked it at him and dragged Yasuho out of the room.
His faint shouts were like music to her ears and the sound of nurses rushing to his room to stop him was like a symphony. "So, what room is Mr. Joestar in?" (y/n) chirped as if she hadn't left her childhood enemy screaming at her in a different room. Yasuho hummed and then pulled a slip of paper with a scraggly set of numbers on it. "326," she replied simply, taking the lead instead of (y/n) who had really only visited the hospital to sit in the lobby and draw people when Yasuho was off hanging with her (now) ex-boyfriend.
When they reached the room, however, it was empty. (y/n)'s brow furrowed as Yasuho scanned the room— she had finally met a descendant of one of the people mentioned in her great-great-grandma's diary and now she lost him. Sure, it wasn't like it was of utmost importance but it had been a great inspiration for her new manga. And now it was all gone. "Dammit!" "Ow." Yasuho and (y/n) shot a glance at the mattress where the mystery guy just so happened to be.
"Holy shit!"
The two girls grabbed at each other, screaming in unison as the guy stared at them from the least expected place. "What in the world are you doing?!" screeched Yasuho as (y/n) remained glued to her side. The guy gave them both a sleepy grin that made (y/n) look away while biting her lip— she'd be lying if she didn't say that the Jo-guy wasn't hot and at that very moment she had been thanking her ancestor for passing down such a motto. Helping him meant staying around a pretty face after all.
"Hey, what's with you?" questioned Yasuho as (y/n) was pulled from her fantasies, "what're you doing down there?" Yasuho was definitely the better of the two for asking these questions. "What? Just what it looks like. I'm sleeping. The people wearing white clothes said I couldn't leave for a while," he replied while (y/n) crouched down and placed her chin in her hands, "what Yasuho meant to ask is why you're under there in the first place." The guy raised a brow from under his mattress, looking between the two girls.
"You mean people sleep on top? How would they put pressure on their bodies then?" Yasuho turned to (y/n) who could only muster half a shrug. "Sounds like a fetish or something," (y/n) said halfheartedly, "I mean, my great-great-grandma's friend said her friend had a thing for mosquito bites." Yasuho cringed just slightly before turning to the guy and holding out a box of dumplings that was smaller than what she had given to Joshu.
"Here, I got you a present. I thought I'd bring you something since you were in the hospital. (y/n) did too." As if on command, (y/n) held out the stuffed animal with a lopsided grin, "it kinda looked like you. Yasuho thought so too." Yasuho smiled in agreement and then started rambling about Joshu, his injuries, and why the two had come to visit while (y/n) nodded intermittently and the guy started to slide out from under the mattress. As he did so, the hem of his pants slowly slid lower and lower-
Four balls.
(y/n) broke out into laughter and turned away while Yasuho grimaced and shut her eyes tightly, crying out for him to stop before any more of his pants could fall off. While her friend had spiraled into mumbling against the wall, (y/n) had turned back around to find him examining the stuffed animal. "Like it?" (y/n) asked as he held it out in front of him, letting its limbs flop around. "Yes," he answered, turning to look at her from over his shoulder, "what is his name?" (y/n) hummed aloud in thought while plopping down onto the mattress.
"Mmm...Rohan is a cool name," she said with a smile, "but it's yours to name." The guy looked at her and then at the stuffed animal, setting it down next to her thigh and letting it flop on its side against her. "I like that name too." (y/n) felt the tip of her earns burn— it wasn't as if he had just flirted with her but she found his actions somehow attractive. The guy had now turned to Yasuho's gift, turning over the box and opening it carefully. "What are these?"
Yasuho had turned back around then with a raised brow, walking up beside him, "never had one? Morioh is famous for them." (y/n) watched fondly as Yasuho began to break into detail about the origins of the Sesame Honey Dumplings; ever since they were little, Yasuho had always had an addiction to them which eventually spread over to (y/n) when they became best friends during middle school. "...there's a special way to eat them. You gotta make sure not to bite with your front teeth."
"Oh, don't forget about chewing with your back teeth on the first bite," (y/n) added while the guy tentatively placed a dumpling in his mouth, doing the complete opposite of what he was supposed to. The black cream shot out from the gap between his teeth she hadn't realized he even had. It was...cute. As Yasuho reiterated what she had been saying, (y/n) couldn't take her eyes off him, especially when his odd-colored eyes glimmered with surprise.
MAN, OH, MAN DID SHE HOPE HE WAS A JOESTAR.
this cuts off at a weird spot but i felt this was pretty long already so yeah...lol
