hmmmmb private rites. what did everyone think
#guys was it bad i think it was kinda bad :(#i loved our wives & her short story collection but this just didn't connect with me idk what it was#it felt sort of fanfic-y in writing style which sounds mean lol but it really read like someone trying to imitate her writing style based#off of her first two bookswhich is crazy because it is literally by her lol. the characters felt a little tropey especially jude & like#maybe not my place to be discussing nb representation my own weird gender feelings aside but they felt like such an undeveloped paper doll#of a character. soo weird like they were only relevant to reflect the protagonists and i thought maybe that was because the perspective is#from the main three sisters but even when we got jude's perspective they didn't feel like a real fleshed out person. idk idk. and the endin#i was warned the book falls off towards the end but i hadnt been enjoying it all the way through so by the end i was like. yeah that tracks#i'm bummed about it lol idk maybe i'm being too harsh ive seen a lot of positive feedback

Babysitter AI
A/N: Ok so this has been in the works for a month and I never finished it. I made a poll asking what I should write next and the winner was Ashton fluff so here is Ashton fluff. It also kinda switches between focusing on you and Ash and Luke at home with the kid so I hope it’s not confusing. I also put a keep reading cause I feel it’s long
Requested: Kinda?
Words: 3048 (a lot compared to my usual 1500)
Pairing: Ashton Irwin x reader
*Warnings*: Mentions of miscarriage, cute dad!Ashton, babysitter Luke, y’all have a son named Oliver
Summary: You and Ashton have been dating for years and you now have a nineteen-month-old son and you haven’t had a date night since before he was born. In comes Uncle Lu to watch the little tot while you and Ash go out
Masterlist Wanna be tagged?
Date night. It was something you and Ashton used to have at least once a week. Sometimes more or less depending on his tour schedule. It was one of the things you had looked forward to the most because those were nights the two of you could get out and just be you two again. Sometimes Ashton took you to fancy restaurants that he paid extra to make sure fans or paparazzi didn’t find out you would be there. Sometimes Ashton took you to the McDonald’s drive-thru and you guys sat and ate in the car outside of the house forever. Recently, there haven’t been as many date nights. It wasn’t that you and Ashton were fighting or anything, you had a baby. You loved your little Oliver with all your heart but he was about nineteen months old right now and you were exhausted. Luckily tour had ended a month or so before you gave birth so Ashton was home to help you since Oli was born. But, the two of you hadn’t had a date night in almost two years and you missed them. Ashton had expressed to you how much he missed them as well; so, with that, the hunt for a babysitter began. You knew you could ask the neighbors or use one of those websites but you were worried about people sending out personal information about you guys or your son. That’s what happened when you have a child with a famous man. Now was when you wished you lived closer to family that could watch the little guy but no one was close enough. The only people close were the boys. It’s not that you didn’t trust them, you just didn’t trust them. You and Ashton have been searching since Oliver was ten months but no one seemed good enough. At this point, you were tempted to hire a nanny. You were brought out of your thoughts by the sounds of Oliver’s laugh. The boys were over visiting and currently Luke and Oliver were playing.
“Come on Ash! One of us or all of us are fit to take care of Oli!” Michael laughed and threw his arm around your shoulders. “You guys need a date night and some adult conversations. Let one of us watch the little man.”
You smiled at Michael and glanced over at your boyfriend of four years. He looked to be entertaining the idea of the boys watching his son; while Ashton thought, you looked back at your son. He looked just like Ashton. Oli had the same curly brown hair, hazel eyes, and adorable little nose. In your eyes, Oliver was perfect and no one could change your mind. You watched as he giggled as Luke grabbed him under the arms and threw him up into the air and caught him on the way down. Oliver let out a little squeal that soon turned to a scream. “I think this means boob please!” Luke yelled over the screaming, sending Ashton off to grab a bottle to heat up. It was close to his bedtime so he was ready for a bottle and to be put down.
“He doesn’t get boob anymore Luke! He just gets a bottle! Those puppies are all mine!” Ashton called from the kitchen, causing you to roll your eyes and Michael to crack up. He came back into the living room, sending you a wink before he grabbed Oliver from Luke and went upstairs to put him to sleep.
Luke came to sit on the other side of you and smiled. “Yeah, Y/N. I really think one of us could watch Oli no problem. Maybe not Calum.” He snorted and gestured over to Cal who had been asleep in the chair for an hour.
“I’ll talk to Ash. Thank you guys for offering though. You guys are the best.”
You and Ashton had spent almost a week talking about having one of the boys babysit Oli and you finally came to a decision. In less than an hour, Luke would be over to watch Oliver while you and Ashton had a date night. It might not have seemed like an obvious choice to pick Luke but you had seen the way Luke played with Oli and how much your son enjoyed spending time with his Uncle Lu. Not to mention you had Michael on call in case Luke needed extra help. Ashton came up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist. You glanced at him through the mirror and sighed. “What if something goes wrong?”
Ashton kissed your shoulder and spun you to face him. “It won’t Doll. Luke will be fine. And if anything were to happen, which it won’t, Michael is ready to come over.”
You sighed and rested your hands on his shoulders. “I really hope so.”
Ashton smirked and leaned in to kiss you but the sound of your son’s voice stopped him. “Daddy!” The squeal that erupted from Oliver’s lips when Ashton picked him up make your heart swoon. Ashton peppered kisses all over his son’s face as you stopped to take a picture. At the sound of the doorbell, you ran downstairs and opened the door to find Luke with a bright smile and a teddy bear bigger than Oli.
“This is for the little tyke. I hope he likes it.” Luke set the bear on the couch and looked towards the stairs to see Ashton helping Oliver down the stairs.
“He’s gonna love it since it came from his Uncle Lu.” Ashton laughed and watched Oliver run over to Luke and grasp onto his legs. “Ok, Oliver didn’t have a nap today so he will be tired. Usually, his bedtime is seven but since he didn’t nap you can probably get him to go down at 6:30 if you try. There’s a bottle in the fridge, all you have to do is heat it up. We usually set it in warm water for no more than ten minutes.”
“If he gets fussy, start making the bottle. You can ask him if he’s tired and he might tell you ‘yes’ but he’s gonna avoid sleeping for as long as he can. Make sure to change his diaper and pjs before bed. Rock him in the rocking chair while he drinks his bottle and sing to him. Then just put him in bed.” You grabbed your coat off of the rack and smiled at Oliver who had plopped himself down at Luke’s feet and began to play with his shoelaces.
Luke stared at both of you with wide eyes as he tried to process all of the information he was just told. “Anything else?”
“Yeah, if he wakes up, try to rock him back to sleep. Ashton usually sings him Close As Strangers when he wakes up in the middle of the night.” You turned to see Ashton standing at the open door.
“Call us if you need anything Luke. Or call Michael.” Ashton wrapped his arm around your waist and smiled. “We should be home by nine.”
Luke grabbed Oliver in his hands and brought him over so the two of you could say goodbye before you left. After many kisses on Oli’s chubby cheeks, the two of you set out ready for date night.
Luke closed the door behind the two of you and smiled down at Oliver. “Alright pal, we have half an hour before I’m expecting you to get tired. What do you wanna do?”
“Puppy!” Oliver squealed and pointed to the bookcase.
“That’s a bookcase dude.” He set Oliver down on the ground and watched him run over to the books and pull out one with a puppy on the cover. “Oh, I get it. Puppy. Alright, let’s get to reading.”
“Do you think he’s ok?”
“I’m sure Oli is fine baby.” Ashton answered as he looked at the menu in front of him.
“I meant Luke. Do you think Oliver is being too difficult? Maybe we should call Luke and check on him.” You sighed and set the menu down, not very hungry now.
“Honey, he’s fine. Don’t worry about Luke. We’ve been gone for only twenty minutes. Oliver has probably been having Luke read to him the whole time. This is a date night for us to have adult conversations.” He reached over the tabled and grabbed your hand in his. “We can get ice cream after dinner if you want it.”
With a small sigh, you smiled up at Ashton. “You know I can’t say no to ice cream.” Ashton seemed to think you finally had your mind off of your son as he went back to looking at the menu but he was wrong. What if Luke dropped Oliver? What if Oliver poked Luke in the eye and Luke needed to go to the hospital? What if someone broke into the house and stole Oliver?
“Hey, I can’t read minds but I can read faces. You’re worried.”
“How are you not worried?”
“I trust Luke with my life. I trust him with Oli. You should too.” Ashton sighed and smiled up at the waiter who had come to take your order. “I’m sure they’re fine.” He mumbled after the young girl left.
“Momma!” Oliver screamed once again as Luke tried to hand him the bottle. Oliver’s chubby little hands smacked the bottle out of his face and watched it fall to the ground.
“Mommy is gonna be home soon. You need to drink your bottle if you want to see her.” Luke had been bribing the small child for almost fifteen minutes, trying to get him to drink the bottle. He suddenly had no idea how you and Ashton took care of Oliver and made it look so easy. Luke managed to change Oliver without too much of a hassle, thank god. Luke did not want to get baby pee on him. But giving him his bottle, was a whole different story.
“No!” Oliver then took off down the hall, running away from Luke. With a groan, Luke took off after Oliver for the tenth time that night.
After a few minutes of chasing his nephew, Luke scooped him up in his arms and bounced him around a little, seeing how Oliver rubbed his eyes. “Please drink your bottle buddy. If you drink it Momma and Daddy will be home sooner.”
Something must have clicked because with that, Oliver grabbed the bottle and quickly began drinking it. Finally, something was going right. Luke sat down in the rocking chair and began rocking back and forth, singing Oliver to sleep. Once Oli was asleep, Luke leaned his head against the chair and closed his eyes. Now all he had to do was transfer Oliver into his crib which sounded pretty easy in theory but Luke couldn’t be sure that transferring him wouldn’t wake him up. So, he sat there for almost twenty minutes, rocking Oliver to make sure he was sleeping before he carefully stood and lowered Oli into his crib. Oliver wiggled a little bit and Luke held his breath as he watched the small child move around. Luckily, he continued to sleep and once Luke pulled the side of the crib up, he would hopefully be done for the night.
“Do you remember the first time I kissed you?” Ashton asked with a laugh as he threw his arm around your waist, leading you through the park with your ice creams in hand.
“How could I forget? It was 2015 and you guys won the ARIA for best Australian Live Act. You got so excited about the win that you kissed me. I didn’t even know what to think or do.” You answered with a laugh, smiling at the memory.
“Ah, but what you don’t know is I had been trying to work up the courage to ask you out for months. It was that day that I decided I would ask you out after the show. Of course, I was not expecting to have already kissed you but, it went well.” Ashton took a lick of his ice cream before switching with you so you could get a taste of his and he could have some of yours.
“Since apparently, this park has memory lane,” you stopped to smile when Ashton laughed at your joke, “do you remember when we found out we were pregnant with Oli?”
Ashton smiled and took you to sit on a park bench. “Of course I do. That was the best day of my life. We weren’t trying for a baby but we weren’t preventing anything. You hadn’t been feeling good the past few weeks so I took you to the doctor and we didn’t even think you could be pregnant. So, when the doctor asked if we had unprotected sex, the gears started turning. They did a test and that’s when we found out we would be parents.”
“You cried like a baby.” Ashton giggles at your words and pulled you to sit on his lap.
“Can you blame me? I just learned I would be a dad, finally.”
The two of you sat in comfortable silence for a while, just enjoying spending some time together. It had been so long since you two had time to yourselves, you didn’t know what to talk about. Of course, the lack of talking was fine too but it allowed your mind to wander. Oliver wasn’t your first pregnancy. You and Ashton had gotten pregnant the year before you were expecting Oliver. The baby hadn’t made it past the first trimester and it really hurt you and Ashton. So of course, when you found out you were pregnant again, you took every precaution to make sure he would be safe. Once you passed the point of hiding your growing bump, you finally told everyone. You also broke the news that this wasn’t your first pregnancy. Everyone was so supportive of you two which made everything a lot easier. Maybe that’s why you didn’t think a babysitter would ever be good enough for Oli.
“What are you thinking about?” Ashton asked softly, bringing you from your thoughts.
“Oli could have been a younger brother.” At your words, Ashton wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you onto his lap, your head on his chest.
“I know baby.” He kissed the top of your head, hands rubbing your back. “I’m so sorry this happened to you.”
“It happened to you too Ash.” You mumbled as you pulled away from his chest to get a better look at him.
“I know but it was your body that went through it. I wish I could have stopped it or helped you. I’m so sorry.” Ashton took the miscarriage hard as well. You knew he wanted a big family and he thought he was going to get started on that when suddenly his dream was crushed. The possibility of being a dad was ripped out of his hands and thrown away. He spent the first few months after the miscarriage with you, making sure you were ok. It wasn’t until after he felt you were fine, he began going through his own grieving process. The boys were a huge help during that time. “But now we have Oli and he’s the best son I could have ever asked for.”
“I love you. You’re the best boyfriend and father to Oliver.”
“And I love you. I can’t imagine my life without you.” Ashton smiled down at you, his hand coming to rest on your cheek as he leaned down, pressing his lips softly to yours. He rested his forehead on yours and smiled, kissing your nose.
“I want another. I know it’s soon and Oli is still so young and it will be hard to have a toddler and a newborn but...”
Ashton shook his head as he pulled back to see your face. “I don’t think it’s too soon. We can start trying. But first, let’s go home and see our boy.”
“Oliver, are you kidding me?” Luke whined as he bounced the child in his arms. Oliver had woken up only after sleeping for a little more than an hour. Luke had been rocking him for the past 45 minutes, hoping and praying that the kid would go to sleep before you and Ashton came home. “Do you want me to sing you a song?”
Oliver’s cries slowly died down as he nodded. “Daddy song.” Luke had no idea what that meant until he remembered your words before you left.
“Ok, I’ll sing Daddy’s song.” Luke pushes Oliver’s hair out of his eyes and softly began to sing. “Six weeks since I’ve been away, and you’re saying everything has changed and I’m afraid that I might be losing you.”
It didn’t take long for Oliver to fall asleep once more after Luke began singing. He laid the small boy back into the crib and once he was sure he was asleep, he wandered down to the living room and laid down on the couch, ready to pass out. In fact, he almost fell asleep until he heard the sound of the front door opening. Luke didn’t even bother to move as you and Ashton stepped into the house.
“Hey Luke.” Ashton smiled, taking in the sight of one of his best friends on the couch. “How did it go?” He took your coat off of your shoulders and hung it on the rack.
“Pretty good I would say. He fell asleep at seven since he was avoiding me and he stayed asleep for an hour before he woke up again. It took another hour to get him back to sleep but he’s sleeping now.”
You smiled and once Luke was standing, you walked over and wrapped your arms around his middle. “Thank you, Lu. Really. Thank you.”
Luke smiled up at Ashton and kissed your cheek. “Anything for the mother of my favorite nephew.”
“He’s your only nephew, for now at least.” At Ashton’s words, you turned to look at your boyfriend with a smile. “Want to take Oli to the park next week so we can work on baby’s number two?”
“Only if Michael puts him to bed next time.”

Careful (Roger Taylor x Reader)
Chapter Summary: You’re not the only one who’s developing feelings but Roger is too, trying to have you close to him at first, but then he’s trying to forget you over way too much scotch. This is how both of you get sick and he takes care of you again.
Author’s Note: It’s Roger’s POV in this chapter, yeeet! (Please don’t @ me I can’t tell you why and if you don’t like it I’ll never attempt it again, I promise)
Words: ~2k
Warnings: I’d rate this mature because (and this is a spoiler) someone’s masturbating aaand there’s drinking again and eventually someone has to throw up
Chapter 4
Previous Parts: Ch. 1, Ch. 2, Ch. 3
I couldn’t fall asleep that night because Tiffany never left my head: her reddish-blonde curls, her incredibly green eyes, her lips for fucks sake - I needed that. I craved being close to her, to feel her, to hear her breath like I’d never wanted anything else. The boys had noticed that I was hitting my drums harder than I usually did while messing up their rhythms and I knew that they knew that something was off but they wouldn’t mention it if I got myself under control before our next gig tomorrow night. I just didn’t see how that was possible, when I was now here, lying awake and only the thought of Tiffany’s voice made my whole stomach feel light, in the best way possible. I had no idea how long I’d been staring in the dark but I was seriously contemplating to go out and either get drunk or find some girl to do whatever it took to distract myself. I just couldn’t let myself think about what I’d do to her if she hadn’t been this innocent little princess I saw, every time I looked at her. Even though only my refusal to think of that was enough to give me a hard one, already. I swallowed hard as I carefully touched myself and I stopped trying to shake the thought of her because I knew I couldn’t while I was masturbating - what would it feel like to bury myself in her body, feel her skinny, yet strong legs wrap around me and see her losing herself in my thrusts. God, I just wanted her to feel as good as she made me feel when I got into the kitchen to a prepared breakfast, when I didn’t feel like a dumbass because she’d make me study and when I managed to make her laugh. I gripped on my own hair at the thought of her laugh, trying to imagine it were her tiny hand and her skinny fingers pulling on the strands while I held back a moan. Tiffany Abberforth was the most precious human being on this planet and I’d have to protect her with my whole life, I knew that for a fact.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*
“You wanna join me tonight?”, I asked her, when I met her in the kitchen the next morning. Probably I was being selfish to try and get her out of the comfort of our flat, but I wanted her to be closer to me anytime. She was reading some book like the smart girl she was but she put it away as soon as I tried to talk to her.
“Where are you going?”
“The boys and I have a gig and I thought - since you’re freed now - you might like…?”
“Are you trying to make me drunk two out of three nights in a row?”, she called me out in a joking tune and it made me smile to see her that relaxed.
“Of course not, but I’d like you around me two out of three nights in a row.” Damn, she had no idea what she did to me when she blushed. She looked down at her hands, seemingly battling herself to a decision. “No pressure, Tiffy, if you’re there, you’re there and if not I’ll still play for you.”
“You know it’s not because I don’t want to hear you play, right, Rog?”
“Do I?”, I asked and leaned my head to the side a little too let her know I wasn’t completely serious.
“I can’t see myself enjoying your show in a huge crowd at all, it scares me, especially since I wouldn’t know anyone watching you, too and I - “
“You can join us for our rehearsal on Friday, if you prefer that.”
“That’s perfect”, she immediately agreed and I felt great about it. It relieved the thought of being rejected, at least.
“We can have dinner after, if you’d like.”
“We always have dinner, Rog.”
“No, I mean, you and me - and the boys if we can’t get rid of them - having dinner in a restaurant, if you’d like.” Now I was the one blushing, I feared, as she looked at me in surprise.
“Yeah, I think I’d like that”, she said after a moment and I smiled at her.
“Me too, Tiffy.”
*-*-*-*-*-*-*
I knew I shouldn’t really - even though there wasn’t anything exclusive about Tiffany and me, there wasn’t a “we” if it came to anything else than talking about our shared flat situation, but I still felt guilty and like I wasn’t supposed to let all the girls approach me after our gig.
“Hey there, sweet boy”, one of them purred, “How you doing, love?”, the other one said and “You did so amazing!”, I heard a third one while they really gave me a hard time to move forward, just trying to get to the bar behind Brian. Their hands were all over me and I was glad I didn’t wear something too showing or open, even, and it wasn’t that I didn’t like it, I just felt like it wasn’t fair. I wasn’t looking for anything they had to give me, instead I was trying to figure out which of them reminded me the most of Tiffany, really, and I knew that was just wrong.
“Thanks, girls, but let me have a drink first, would you?”
Of course I ended up buying the three of them drinks and I hated to admit it, but it was kind of a given that I went outside “to smoke”, only to make out with one of them, finally letting go of the thought of Tiffany’s emerald green eyes. I didn’t enjoy the night at the girl’s place - as if the universe wanted to punish me, really, for drinking myself into a state where I didn’t only forget about the girl’s - or Tiffany’s - name but also about my own, to a state where I didn’t care about anything anymore, trying to find relieve in it. I couldn’t even remember the sex for the love of god, only assuming it was good, by how the girl was cuddled against me, how our clothes were all over the floor. But the mattress woke me up, squeaking and poking into my back, which didn’t make the pain in my head any better. I just stumbled to grab my clothes and left, unable to look back at the girl or respond when she called for me, only heading for the door. I didn’t know if it was the alcohol or the hole situation getting the best of me, but I didn’t make it really far without throwing up and horribly cursing myself. I’d done dumb things but they didn’t really compare to last night.
Also, when I got home, there was light in the kitchen. It was an early morning and I knew, Tiffany was one to get up before sunrise but couldn’t that girl let herself get some rest once? She was reaching for the medicine cabinet, when I stepped into the kitchen, feeling her eyes on me and suddenly realising that I could easily be covered in my own vomit, if I was as unlucky as I felt that moment.
“You need help?”, I asked nonetheless and the worry in her eyes got wilder as she heard my hoarse voice.
“Where have you been?”
“I couldn’t tell you her name, even if I wanted to and I really shouldn’t have gone”, I tried to explain, unable to lie to her, or stand her quizzing look another second. “I feel sick, man, I had way too much scotch last night.” What would I do next, call her “mate”? This is really a great way to safe your ass out of this situation, seriously, keep going, Taylor, you’re doing great.
“Makes two of us, though”, Tiffany murmured and stepped away, acknowledging that she was a bit too tiny to reach the pain killers. I reached up, to hand them to her, unable to look her way - mostly because I was really aware of the bad taste in my mouth and I didn’t want her to smell me in the end.
“What’s wrong, love?”, I still asked, scared that she wasn’t alright.
“I get sick after every exam period, really and here I am, coming down with a fever.”
“Then, hush, to bed!”, I said, grabbing her to make her move and tug her in, before I could escape into the bathroom. “I’ll make you tea and get you soup, you just stay there, you hear me?”, I rambled in the process of getting her into her bed. I started brushing my teeth, while I went into the kitchen to put some tea water to a boil and looked through the cabinets for soup, realising I’d have to pick some up at the store. That wasn’t half bad in the end, because it forced to make myself look somewhat decent and I could get new cigarettes, cheese and toast at the store too, so I could at least eat some terrible breakfast when I came back to find Tiffany asleep.
I prepared the soup as it said on the pack and carefully carried it to her night stand, before I sat down next to Tiffany and softly ran my fingers over her face to make her wake up. Her skin was really clean and soft, but it felt hot to a point that I wished I knew a doctor, a better one than myself, for sure.
“Wake up, sweet girl, you need to get your soup down, so you’ll get better.” She smiled at me weakly and tried to move to a sitting position, so she could cuddle against her bed’s headboard and slowly eat the soup I held for her. I watched her eat in silence while I sat next to her, my legs crossed on her mattress, realising I should turn her heater up for a start. The tea water had gotten cold while I was gone so I reheated it, to finally make the tea she needed and I looked at her in her bed critically, while she sipped it. “Tiffy, do you want me to get you more pillows?”, I asked because it was kind of impossible that I had more pillows than she did, right? She giggled at me and moved her head for me to come closer.
“Rog, you’re acting like my mom - worse, actually, because she doesn’t consider you sick as long as your bones aren’t broken.”
“But -“
“I just need to rest, don’t worry”, she didn’t let me interrupt her. “You should go, so I don’t infect you.”
“I won’t leave you alone, unless that was your attempt to kick me out.”
“No, it wasn’t”, she explained and I felt relieved. She didn’t seem to be angry at me or the way I’d spent my night and that made me feel a little less sick.
“Good, then”, I said and slipped under her covers. Her eyes were on me, looking a little shocked, otherwise just intensely focused on me, as I moved towards her to rest her head on one of my arms and spoon her. “You fine, love?”
“Yes, but you don’t have to -“
“But I want to”, I whispered into the back of her neck.
“Thank you”, she murmured, shifting around a little to get the most comfortable.
“I was worried, when you didn’t come home.”
“I’m so sorry, Tiff”, I told her again, honestly. “I really shouldn’t have gone.”
“Glad you realised that”, she mumbled and it made me chuckle a little. Her breathing became slower and deeper when she feel asleep and I hummed one of the songs, the boys and I were working on, to fasten up the process, until I eventually fell asleep as well.

Words will break you
Requested: Yes by the lovely @softlybisou
Hi, um i was wondering if you'd do a Cedric x Ravenclaw reader where he said some really mean things as everyone looked down upon the reader (he/she idm ahaha) basically uses the oppugno spell and Cedric finds multiple ways to make up to her and apologise but the reader keeps avoiding him purposely. He tries to find comfort with another person (during Hogsmeade or something like that) and the reader catches them together after they were going to apologise and yeah ahaha
Warnings: Hurt, swearing
Pairing: Cedric Diggory x Ravenclaw Reader
Summary: You overhear Cedric talking about you which resulted in people looking down on you. He tries to apologize but you avoid him, but when you are finally ready to hear him out, he's with another.
Authors Note: Thanks for your request! Hope you like it! Sorry, this took so long! I had really bad writers block! I actually rewrote this like four times because I hated how it was coming out. I am very happy with this draft however! (Not edited.)
The sun was pouring in from the medium sized window in the center of the room. It dawned a bright gleam through your bed curtains and onto your sleep infused face. With a small groan you pushed yourself up to your feet, you were so exhausted from the severe studying you did the night before. It was almost unbearable, you were hardly even a person. With a stretch of your arms and a glance at the clock the tiredness left you and was in turn replaced with worry.
“Shit!”
You mumbled out the words and threw on your robes before you were late yet again to potions. Your arms were filled with books, considering you forgot your bag and you were at this point sprinting to class. Hope filled you when you saw Snape’s door, up until you ran into a wall. Your books went flying all over the empty corridor and you were about to fall until hands gripped your waist and steadied you.
Wait. Walls don’t have arms.
Snapping your head up you were met with the most lovely pair of brown eyes. The were dark but flecks of gold danced around the pupil.
“Are you okay?”
The voice was soft and concerned flowed out in his smooth words. Pushing away from him slightly you bent down to grab your books.
“Y-yeah I’m fine. I’m so sorry! I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going. I was late an-”
“It’s quite alright.”
The tall boy you had basically just body slammed in the hall way, bent down in front of you and helped pick up your misplaced books. You were frantic and hadnt realized you were both reaching for the same book until your cold hand touched his warm one. You quickly retracted it and looked up at him. His gaze was already directed at you and he wore a heart warming smile as he handed you the last book.
“T-thank you.”
He nodded softly and helped you stand. His gaze stayed on you and that breathtaking smile never left his face. You noticed the yellow in his scarf and noted in your mind he was a Hufflepuff.
“I’m Cedric. Cedric Diggory.”
“I’m (y/n) (y/l/n).”
He took your empty hand and brought it to his lips placing a soft kiss on it. His lips were so spft and warm against your cold skin and you felt a blush rise to your cheeks.
“Nice to meet you (y/n).”
“Nic-”
“Miss (y/l/n) are you going to join our class or would you prefer to fraternize in the hallway with Mr. Diggory and earn a detention?”
Snape’s sarcastic tone rung through your ears and your cheeks grew more red than before. You smiled softy at Cedric once more before walking to class.
---
That was how it started. A simple bump in the hallway sparked into a wildfire of emotions. Although neither of you had made anything official you couldn't count the amount of time you spent in his arms, his lips on yours. You felt nothing but pure bliss when you were with him. He made you feel loved and safe, like you could be yourself and not worry about him judging you.
You trusted him.
Sitting in the Ravenclaw common room was where you sat, waiting for night. Waiting to put yourself in his arms. You thought while you waited maybe you could study but it was far to loud. Pushing off the couch, you stood and made your way out of the busy common room. You began walking towards the astronomy tower for some peace and quiet when you heard voices. Not paying any mind to them you began walking again until you heard your name.
“(y/n). Is so annoying. Honestly, Cedric, I don’t know how you deal with them.”
“They aren’t that bad. They are sweet and ki-”
“They’re nothing but a stuck up Ravenclaw.”
“Yeah okay, you’re right. They can be kind of irritating. I’m just trying to let them down easy. They are obsessed with me.”
The world slipped smoothly off his tongue and shattered your heart. Never had you imagined the one person that made you feel so safe would be the one to hurt you the most.
You felt stupid for ever thinking Cedric could have feelings for you. He was just using you like everyone before him had. You couldn’t take hearing it anymore and you walked away. Your heart was broken but you didn’t shed a tear, not for him.
-Skip a couple weeks-
It had been a while since you last spoke to him. You noticed the looks you got in the corridors now, you noticed the whispers of your name and the giggles that followed them. Rage filled you. This was all because of him, everyone looked at you like some sort of pariah because of him.
How could he do this to you? You never once thought Cedric would be the reason you were looked down on. But then again you never thought he would use you either and he did that.
“(y/n)?”
Turning your head you saw him, the annoyingly charming and devilishly handsome boy who turned your heart into rubble.
“What?”
Your tone came out rudely and you could taste venom on your tongue.
“(y/n). Whats wrong? I haven’t seen you in weeks.”
“Oh, my bad. I was trying not to obsess over you so hard. You were after all trying to let me down easy right?”
Cedric’s eyes widened and his a lump grew in his throat. You could see the guilt written all over his face. You didn’t care. He should feel guilty.
“(y/n). I di-”
“You know I really don’t want to hear it, Cedric.”
With that, you walked away. A part of your brain begged for you to listen to him, maybe there was a reason behind it. Being the logical person you were you normally listened but not this time. You were so blinded with rage, and his words stung you to deeply. It was all just too much, however with only mere days until Hogsmeade you wanted to take a couple days to cool off.
You spent most of your time in the back of the library, nothing calmed you down like a good book. It was also secluded and away from prying eyes and you really couldn’t stand the looks of disgust sent your way anymore.
Cedric had tried to make advances, he tried to apologize but the fire burning in you was just too hot and you kept avoiding him. You missed him of course and if the Cedric you knew was really there, then you knew he could explain. It still hurt to know he said those things at all. You couldn’t help but wonder if he really meant them and by the end of the day you had yourself thinking maybe you had been too clingy. You felt insecure and you hated that he had that power over you.
After a few more days of avoiding, Hogsmeade time was finally here. It was on a particularly nice autumn morning. A cold chill was held in the air, orange and yellow leaves fell into left over rain puddles and you felt at peace. Today was the day you had finally decided to talk to Cedric. At the very least you could know the truth.
The day ended all to soon over butter beers and laughs. You had enjoyed spending the day with your friends but it was time to find Cedric. Pushing out you chair you excused yourself and walked outside. You spotted his familiar brown hair and yellow scarf, and you walked towards him.
Your heart was beating fast in your chest and you bit your bottom lips trying to calm your nerves. Finaly making it to where he was you opened your mouth to speak until you saw her. Cho Chang was leaning against him and his arm was placed around her. They looked far to friendly and suddenly you understood.
“I get it now.”
His head snapped towards your sour tone and he quickly removed his arm from the dark haired girl. You shook your head and began walking away from the pair.
“No! (y/n) wait!”
Rage was once again taking over and you quickly turned around and walked towards him. He looked taken back.
“No! Cedric! First you talk shit about me to your friends as if I’m nothing to you and now you are with her! I get it, I didn’t then but I do now. You used me!”
“I didn’t (y/n)! I would never do that. I shouldn’t have said those things about you but I panicked!
“And that makes it ok?!”
“No. Of course not! I didn’t mean them and instantly regretted them. As for Cho shes just a friend. Nothing more! I was asking her advice on how to get you back because you were ignoring me! I love you (y/n) and I was asking her for help.”
“Y-you love me?”
He stepped forward and gently placed his hands on your upped arms. He was so close, his mouth was so close to yours.
“I do. I have since that day in the hall. I’m so sorry (y/n). Please forgive me.”
His mouth was coming even closer and you averted your eyes from his own to his lips. Without thinking you pressed your lips to his. Urgently he kissed you, sparks radiated off your bodies and you felt like you had those nights in his dorm. Pulling away you looked at him again.
“I love you too.”
He gave you one of his heart warming smiles and placed his lips one yours once again. Words will break you, but actions will save you.
