Realizing several hours too late that in my blorbo ask meme I said Dunban is the oldest XC1 party member, which is, in fact, not true! Both Riki and Melia are older than him! I suppose I could argue that he's spiritually the oldest but that's silly and I think Riki and Melia probably still win that one in some situations.

#we talk about riki and dunban having dad energy but riki is the only Actual dad of the two and is older than dunban by a decade #i like to think that in a similar moment to their beach talk riki out of nowhere drops some fatherly wisdom on dunban #and dunban's like “hold on i gotta. i gotta sit down” since he hasn't had a father figure in A While #and also he saw riki accidentally set himself and half a curry stall on fire this morning #xenoblade #i was then going to say dunban is the most consistently responsible but then i remembered that melia is a Literal Monarch #and a fairly level-headed one at that #and dunban has a history of hotheadedness. i get the feeling that he wasn't all that responsible before he started wielding the monado #he looked after fiora of course but he enjoys a good scrap and there's a sidequest line where he says he used to have a drinking problem #after dickson & otharon left the party @ satorl marsh dunban was like “i guess i'm the adult now” & then IMMEDIATELY got outranked in makna #dunban #riki #melia #meta
