Hello! I know you're one of the people who ship Moon and Solar (TSAMS) And y'all have gotten me into the ship as well! XD I'm not caught up on the lore of the show(s) So i haven't even seen Solar IN SHOW before (i am very behind to before Lunar was Sun and Moons brother :' D) But I have some ideas I'm debating writing for the ship buttt....I have no clue how Canon Solar acts??? Do you know if theres somewhere I could find a Summary on his personality? (and I suppose...new Moon?) I'll probably unintentionally make them OOC...never written for anything TSAMS related, but i'll try!
And is there a ship names thats...like used for them instead of Solar X Moon or is it just called that?
Anywho, I hope you have a good day/night!!! You make awesome stuff! (And I know theres been some people making drama over the ship, I hope you don't let them get to you too much tho!! <3 /P)
🦈Anon
AWESOME!
Heheheh. Thank you. I've been shipping these two since June 2023 so I'm glad I can share the brainrot and some people are more welcoming and cool then I expect. (mostly the ones who can't think critically are the youtube audience but that's expected. Since a lot of the youtube target audience are... like.. minors or really young adults who can't conceive the concept.)
I rewatch that Episode where Solar changes his name and rebuilds the Daycare in a week just for Moon constantly cause it's just... so much admiration and appreciation Moon has for Solar in that episode. I swear I don't know if it was a flub on the actor's part... but I swear Moon calls him 'sexy' as he's dragging him to charge. the stock sound effect of "OOOOH" doesn't help my APD and I've listened so many times and I have no possible idea what Moon could be saying to Solar other then 'come here you stupid, sexy-...." (trails off) sooo... idk. I might have misheard that severely but that's just what I'm hearing.
Like, in terms of New Lore of the show, it gets pretty complicated.
So complicated in fact, TSAMS themselves released a new video on the subject.... But it's NOT a very good guide, as it misses a lot of things. (and no I don't mean the stupid guest cameo stuff) this is more or less an abridged take on what happens with no emotional impact:
youtube
Like, this is a good starting point if you want the barest of bones, but it misses so much stuff. I think they don't even mention how Solar gets introduced into this family. lol. Just like "yeah Im here and I helped kill Eclipse" fheahehf. It's a super well made video though, and I don't mind the editing mistakes (clearly when the actors change the avatar on screen.... whoops. Happens a few times)
There is also the Fan Wiki, but as of now, it is incomplete, (@twinanimatronics is working tirelessly on updating the wiki and I wish they got more reconignition from the tsams community as a whole ) but it does give a decent look into Solar
There is also the huge TSAMS Lore Document, which Ceph(twinanimatronics) also worked on which contains a further detailed explanation of the story so far, for those who don't have time to watch 2 years worth of youtube content that aren't in a concrete playlist. (TSAMS. PLAYLIST YOUR STUFF PROPERLY. YOU HAVE TWO YEARS OF LORE HERE)
Tumblr media
Liike.... yeah... this is okay but like..
Tumblr media
This is VRchat. Aka the lore. Which also includes when they play videogames in VRchat, which don't impact the story... Like Uno, Amongus and SCP stuff.....
And it doesn't divide the arcs. Something that TSAMS severely needs more then any other SB Show channel.
Also, in the early days, the gameplay videos USED to be part of the lore. As the concept of Eclipse itself, being a rouge evil ai that lived in Sun's head (as it was presented initially but we know the truth it was the killcode moon planted in Sun when they separated.)
These days, they kinda dropped the gameplay videos being directly connected to the over arching plot. Other then just saying that their vids are pre-recorded or "we're back" after an annual halloween takeover.
Not to mention... When Earth and Lunar got a show, they became intertwined with the Sun and Moon show. LAES is very much it's own thing, but it's the ONLY Security Breach Show that consists of two Original Characters spawned from the Sun and Moon show. A rarity. So their lore continues off from the Sun and moon show, giving more info on Lunar these days and Earth (their sister)
Then you have the Monty and Foxy show (which is my least favorite of the shows... Personal Preference. I try not to complain cus I know some people like it. But I do not like the plot points in that show, or the character writing and weird directions they take while being connected to the same universe.)
And Monty is a character voiced by Davis, who also voices Sun. So Monty started out as a prominent character on the Sun and Moon Show, and then got his OWN show... at a point in TSAMS history after Eclipse got the star and killed Lunar.
So yeah. I wish the playlists were better organized here. So we knew when each era starts.
(people say Matpat should get on this show lore... And noooooooo no thanks. Keep him away. We got you covered. Ceph honestly has enough info to make a video guide at this point.)
But long story short, Solar is a "Good Eclipse" from another dimension that the Old Moon introduced to Lunar, when Lunar was struggling with his trauma of leaving Eclipse. Good Eclipse and Lunar become friends.
Anyway, here are some key episodes that outline NewMoon and Solar's relationship, as Solar had never met the Old Moon.
Old Moon had never met Solar. It was New Moon who introduced himself to Solar to help defeating Eclipse once and for all. (and by this point lunar had died)
youtube
He was actually surprised that this Moon was a chill Moon and could be reasoned with and talked to, considering he was living a rather oppressive life from his own Moon.
There's also a whole episode saga of just these two bantering and talking while they work on the satellite together. I can't remember which specific episodes those are.
You can also see the difference between the Evil Eclipse and Good Eclipse here in one of my all time favorite episodes:
youtube
Moon saving Solar's life: (also the death of the bad Eclipse)
youtube
Everything is good and happy after Eclipse dies for awhile. (aside of Ruin and Bloodmoon wrecking shit) He goes back to his own dimension... and you get to see what his sad life is like:
youtube
From his Moon calling him "byproduct" and failure very often.
But... Something happens and Solar is forced to come to Moon's dimension
here's Solar at his poor little meow meow "I have nowhere to go" stage and just... thought to go to Moon immediately due to their history.
youtube
Moon's only question about Solar moving in, is that if he wanted him to blacklist his dimension once he heard what was going on with his Moon.
And immediately, Solar jumps in to help Moon with his problems.
Also during the halloween takeover part 2 electric boogaloo, Solar was the one to help get Sun and Moon back after being teleported to a different dimension with no hopes of returning
youtube
youtube
Also, after Ruin was cured and Bloodmon ran off, Solar rebuilt the ruined Daycare in a week. And Moon is so grateful for it. (i rewatch this episode a lot. It cemented the ship in my mind and built the commodity that they've been building up for months)
youtube
We also get what Solar's daily life is like so far... How out of place he feels, being someone from a different dimension, despite the Brothers (and sister's) insistence, he still doesn't really feel like he's part of the family. He feels like an outsider. (He also has less opportunities to hang out with Lunar. As he expressed interest in playing games with him like the good old days, and as of recently, they have not yet)
also a good example of the Celestial family changing minds on family dynamics because they are robots. Lunar flat out rejected Vegeta-Animatronic is his brother even if he technically is. Like, they're robots. They can change their relationships to each other based on their word. I like to see it more flexible then it is in reality with actual people/humans.
Moon also trying to make Solar feel comfortable and feel like he's adjusting well here. Expressing his concern for him doing so much for him and his family. And hoping to not pressure him into so much work.
youtube
As of recently, his Sun died, and he killed his Moon. And in his therapy session (on the Lunar and Earth Show) he expressed regret over "Leaving" them...
But he has not properly told anyone about this.
My reasoning is that he probably thinks that the family will jump on the chance to call him "Evil" .....They don't have good luck with Eclipses.... and every Eclipse they met other than him has been Evil. (that must weigh on you. Every version of yourself is deemed as evil across every dimension. You are the only good one. Maybe there is something wrong with you)
I'm already at the video limit, but on Lunar and Earth show, there is an interesting episode where Lunar goes into Solar's head, and his mindscape looks like the Willy Wonka TV room, because it was a movie he watched with his Sun before they separated and Sun died. Showing that he did care about his Sun a whole lot... Which is probably why he doesn't interact with our Sun that much alone.
He also compartmentalizes everything before he can feel emotions, playing his own memories in third person as if he's not experiencing them.
Not to mention, he organizes and separates his thoughts on NewMoon and HIS Moon, just so he won't associate the two.
I also missed what episode it was, but Solar is always the first to call Moon out when he's being angry, or irrational, and Sun admits in his therapy session, that Solar is the only person who can calm Moon down. (mainly cus he's used to it, but unlike his old moon, this moon listens)
Anyway...
I love Solar a lot, can you tell?

This turned out a lot shorter than I thought. Whoops.
It was really late, somewhere around midnight, and yet D-structs was wide awake. Then again, why wouldn’t he be? He’s been waiting around a year for this. Outside in the barren field outside his cave, the black and white t-trux kept his eyes on the moon, which was still in the process of turning red. At least he hoped. Wether or not the eclipse would be a total one wasn’t exactly something D-structs could 100% predict, nor when he would see it next.
It happens in different parts of the world every three months or so, and there’s always the chance he’d accidentally sleep through the next one. Speaking of sleeping through an eclipse, D-structs could tell that Skrap-It was still asleep in the cave. He doesn’t snore much, but he’s usually fast asleep by now. He didn’t even know what he was missing.
D-structs has seen this sight two other times before with his brother and they were just as captivating as this one. When he mentioned that the moon turns red during a lunar eclipse, a surprisingly new concept to Skrap-It, the scraptool was almost in disbelief and dropped his piece of scrap for a moment. He claimed he’d have to see it himself at some point, so maybe right now was a good chance to show him. He’d enjoy it.
D-structs’ eyes widened slightly and he shook his head with a low growl. He wasn’t nice. He wasn’t friendly with anyone but his brother, and he wasn’t here right now. He’s supposed to come visit around next month.
Then again, Skrap-It has been making him feel less insane and less angry all the time lately. D-structs wasn’t saying he enjoyed his company, he’d never! All he did was tolerate the scraptool better than most trux because he knew when to not talk and just coexist in silence, unlike Ty and his obnoxious crew. They never knew when to shut up.
Then again, if Skrap-It knew when to be quiet and not talk, then what was the harm in waking him up to show him this? Finally, D-structs sighed in frustration and headed into the cave.
Inside, the lava pool bubbled and heated the entire cave, which felt really warm in contrast to the cool breeze outside. Although most would say it’s burning hot, D-structs found it a little cozy. He wouldn’t say that, but Skrap-It would, and he has. Speaking of Skrap-It, he was still asleep, curled up on a small rock near the left wall of the cave. Just as D-structs thought. He rolled around the lava pool and paid little to no mind to the intense heat from it as he approached the unconscious scraptool.
D-structs lowered his head and (definitely not carefully) nudged the sleeping scraptool.“Skrap-It:” He said. He must’ve used more force than necessary because he knocked him onto his back, which soon woke him up. After all, who could sleep upside down?“D-structs?” Skrap-It mumbled. It took him a few tries, but he managed to roll over and yawned.”What’s going on?” He asked groggily. He stood up and stretched his legs.
D-structs waited a few seconds to be sure that Skrap-It wasn’t going to fall asleep on his feet or fall over before answering.“Come outside.” He said. He slowly turned around and rolled back out of the cave, leaving Skrap-It to wake up and catch up.
When he finally got outside, he climbed up one of the dead trees to be closer to D-structs’ height and yawned.”What’s so important that we have to be awake in the middle of the night?” He asked. The brooding t-trux glanced at him, then back up at the moon, which had become ever so slightly more red while he was gone. So slightly that D-structs wondered if it hadn’t actually gotten redder and he was just making it up in his mind. Skrap-It followed his gaze and when he saw the moon, his jaw dropped.
“What’s that?” He asked, suddenly feeling wide awake. Before D-structs could open his mouth to answer, Skrap-It raised one of his front legs as if telling him to stop.“Wait, is it that eclipse thing you told me about?!” He asked excitedly. D-structs nodded and the scraptool turned back to look at the moon. The only sound now was the quiet wind that came by every once in a while.
The next day, Skrap-It woke up in the mid morning and saw a big pile of ore in the cave. This wasn’t unusual since D-structs had a habit of bringing his food back to his cave before eating it, just like any t-trux who’s face territorial problems in the past. He stood up and walked over to grab some late breakfast.
When he saw D-structs come in a while later, he didn’t bring up the eclipse thing incase he had actually just dreamt it, but he did smile at him. D-structs noticed, but didn’t acknowledge it much aside from a simple glance and a subtle nod. It was like he was saying “you’re welcome”, and Skrap-It’s smile grew before he went back to eating. Neither mentioned it for the rest of the day.

character's name is Yuánshǔ (yuanshu's fine) (I don't use the tone mark things out of laziness sometimes lmao)
additional info about her and the drawing below
so this was painful lmao
so basically I was working on a request for a friend whose character is best described as if the wing gundam zero from endless waltz and shiny darkrai had a baby but then I sat there and realized something
"oh" "I can't draw gundam for shit dude"
which is fine and dandy so I decided to just take a break and try drawing something else which leads to an OC I've had on my mind way too much and I sat there like
"hey! she's just an anthropomorphic fox" "how hard can this be?"
then art block fucking killed me and it deadass felt like I forgot how to draw
whoops!!!!!!
but I managed to drag this out after mentally shaking myself in a VC with friends and erasing and redrawing shit fifty different times needed to remind myself that it did not have to be good it just had to be SOMETHING
and now here we are
yuanshu is a fox spirit, aka a kitsune or a huli jing (they're basically the same thing) she was created to protect a dying kingdom on the lunar plane, but then some events happened that led to her being instated as the kingdom's new ruler some of those events that led up to that moment costed her ability to feel emotion / sentiment. she essentially slowly removed aspects of herself that were deemed "impure" by the previous ruler, and over the years and eventually centuries, she became an embodiment of her desire / duty to protect her people. however, to some, she was seen as no more than a weapon or a machine.
or, well, that's how it was in the past. things got better when she met someone, but then things got way worse at some point, leading to her "death" and banishment into oblivion. in this image, this is where nothing went to shit yet
yuánshǔ is heavily based off of junko from touhou project, especially my variant / AU of her for a friend's RP setting. much of yuan shu's current personality and background is pulled from this alternate version of junko, as seen here.
anyone off of twitter or on discord likely saw this character before, as seen in a comic I haven't posted here (yet)
I mostly wound up making yuánshǔ cuz I felt like I was horribly butchering taaran (ponzoan, actually) junko's character lmao I was probably the only person who cared and people have said that I did fine, but. still
like yeah it's an AU, things should be different, but if you make things too different you can't really recognize the fact that the alternate version of this specific character is still supposed to depict this specific character so at that point it felt less like an alternate version of junko and more like. a new character parading around in a junko skin suit. and a white dress. so, yeah, I sat there like "well might as well make her an oc now" except since this is a rp setting, having junko suddenly use a new name and be a whole ass actual furry would be. awkward. and inconsistent.
then again I don't think anyone would've cared about that either lmao it's mostly just me maybe I'm just too prissy about it lmao
(junko isn't the only one I fucked up btw, there's also kaguya and hecatia. maybe someone else too) (so I'll. probably be making characters based off of them too)

So, Vast Error, huh? I’m finally getting around to this thing after being aware of it for many, many years. For a long time I intended to get around to reading it, but it never seemed to happen. For last year I’ve actually been kind of avoiding it for unspecified reasons, but I’m finally ready to give it a shot, and I’m so glad I did. So far, I’m really enjoying myself. I’ve written quite a few notes, so let’s try to convert them into something professional before I pass out at my desk for the night.
Vast Error starts off as any typical fanventure would: an “enter name” gag, and an outline of our protagonist’s interests. Nothing really out of the ordinary. Wriggling days are unsignificant, and the 22nd bi-lunar perigee of the dark season's 3rd blink seems to be Arcjec’s. Oh right, his name is Arcjec Voorat. Moving on. We can tell from the Mountain Dew Code Red cans around the room that he appears to be the Repitonian equivalent of an alcoholic, assuming soda and alcohol have the same parallel on Repiton as on Alternia. So far I have no real way of knowing, but it’s safe to assume I could be wrong here. Just an interesting detail I noticed, because it makes Arcjec out to be even more of a supposed loser than he is already established to be (which I assume is the point, I don’t find his character uncompelling due to these traits).
Skorpe is a pretty obvious take on Skype, which immediately dates this comic to having started back when people still used Skype. I feel so fucking old saying that. Damn. Arcjec’s handle is animatedHumorist, which is funny because this guy seems to not be very animated unless he’s falling out a window. XDXD Also, his quirk is cringe. XDXD
Tumblr media
On the subject of windows, some asshole throws a pebble at his. Following is a REALLY nice scrolling panel on page /28. I never get used to smooth scrolling in this art style, but I always absolutely adore it. Even early on, the tech on panels seems to be ahead of what I can imagine was its competition. Arcjec feels pretty certain he’s going to fucking die, so as all brave warriors do, he goes to hide under his desk. Unfortunately his plan is foiled when some asshole messages him. “Blue guy”, or windlessArtificer seems to want Arcjec to play a game, a trope all too common to fanvetures. We need you in the gaaaaame Arcjec. But of course he says no, as his life is in a bit of immediate danger.
It’s at this time I’d like to point out that Skorpe is a horrifying program, and I made a joke about it wanting to kill me in my notes so... maybe there’s something there. I don’t know. Let’s go back to windows, that was a fun subject.
Tumblr media
Whoops.
Arcjec falls out of the window, and we move on to a different character. Before we do, though, we get some interesting prose here. It seems to imply that Repiton used to be a different place, or at least that Arcjec used to be in a much different situation. I’m curious how exactly Repiton was different, but it’s not as though there are a lot of clues. Perhaps the violent injustice used to be more comparable to Beforus’ civilization, rather than what appears to be a clear parallel to Alternia? I’m not really sure. Let’s be another character already. Not the blue guy though, because apparently he’s too good for us.
Tumblr media
But there’s nothing to worry about apparently, because it’s clown time. I’m sure the audience is ecstatic, but please calm down. I haven’t even hit post yet. I haven’t even pasted the image in yet!
Tumblr media
Ok, now you can lose your minds clapping.
That is, if clowns and wrestling are your sort of thing. This is Taz. No full name included here, but that’s alright. Another standard intro plays out, though this time more aggressive. The Merthful Messiahs we’re all so used to from Homestuck seem to be replaced by the much more present and violent Merthamaniacs. This appears to just be Repitonian wrestling, turned into a religion, complete with the violence and death provided by troll societies. Also Hulk Hogan is the twin-president usurper-equivalent on Repiton, I think. I understand what happened, I’m just not sure how to phrase it.
Not a whole lot happens here, though something very noteworthy is that the ocean is totally fucked up. Is this what that prose from earlier was referring to? The oceans are so poisoned and radioactive, that all sealife has become incredibly hostile and cannibalistic. Trolls have naturally evolved to avoid water at all costs. That’s like... a lot of worldbuilding to just casually drop? But I assume it’s going to come in handy for keeping our protagonists from cheesing their way out of predicaments.
I had some notes regarding the ferocity waver and Taz’s Skorpe handle, preniciousOverkill, but I don’t really have anything to say about the subjects. I also wrote “the clown wants to kill me, it’s like Skorpe all over again” in my notes, so if there’s any kind of running joke that would work here, please let me know.
Oh hey, a new Skorpelog. This time it’s with Murrit. I know I haven’t been introduced to him yet, but I’ve known three characters in Vast Error long before I ever started reading: Arcjec, Ellsee, and Murrit. Murrit seems pretty fun. I like how he just seems to streamroll the conversation into his favor. He also talks about that pesky game we heard about before. I smell a SBURB session, but maybe not a SBURB session because honestly anything could happen here. These tropes are all being set up, but will they be subverted? Who knows. Well, you might, if you’re reading this. Is Austin reading this? Hey Austin, how’s it going? Oh shit, sorry, no time to chat, I’ve gotta get back to this blog post.
Tumblr media
Cool shot of Murrit. Not much to say here. The fish stuff I mentioned before is actually brought up AFTER this conversation, I kinda fucked up. Anyway, Murrit mentions something about an informant, and based on what little I know about this comic, I’m going to assume it’s the guy we see in a couple pages. Or in this case, the very next section.
Tumblr media
Fuck is up with this dude? On the very first sound page, we see Arcjec have some kind of dream about this guy who I’m assuming is Murrit’s mentioned informant. When he wakes up, the narration says it happened “again”, implying skull guy is a regular cast member of Arcjec’s dreams. I don’t have much in the way of wrapping things up, so I’ll end with a random theory I just thought of. Is this guy related to why Repiton’s changed, assuming that’s what the prose meant? Does this guy know a guy who was responsible? Who’s to say?
This has been fun, but it’s 1:30am, and I need to get some sleep. Catch you next time.

Sense and Sensibility Readthrough Part 18
Chapter 21, Pages 103-111
Previously, Mr. Palmer was a bad. Yep. Just a bad. Mrs. Palmer knows Willoughby and has seen Brandon recently, but not much came out of it.
Also, Happy Valentines day, ya filthy animals, and a happy (lunar) new yea-actually I just rewatched that scene from Home Alone 2 and I kinda don’t like it anymore. I just don’t like the idea of guns. Also it feels a lot more contrived now than when I was 10. Also a tad homophobic? I guess I might retire wishing people a good holiday and new year vis a vis calling them filthy animals.
I hope all you romantics are having a better time of it than the poor Dashwoods thus far!
Readthrough below.
Chapter 21
The Palmers have gone home to Cleveland.
But this did not last long; Elinor had hardly got their last visitors out of her head, had hardly done wondering at [...]
This sentence stretches out for eight lines, so Elinor has an excessive amount to think about the Palmers of, before new guests arrive.
Mrs. Jennings "discovers" she has two more relatives in Exeter, two Miss Steeles, who obviously Sir M invites to the next social occasion. Being, immediately. Poor Lady M, has to worry about more surprise strangers for guests. She still likes the new girls though, apparently they're good with kids. That'll earn the Lady M points.
And also obviously Sir M has got to involve the Dashwoods in this too. I don't blame the Dashwoods for ditching, this must be really exhausting. Sir M is the ultimate extrovert. I also forgot that the Dashwoods were related to him.
It's just a random thought, but everyone is in agreement that the Dashwood sisters are very pretty/handsome/beautiful. Well, except for Mr. Palmer, but he is stubbornly contrarian in general and I wouldn't trust him to even like the pure concept of happiness. I wonder how that is? I've never thought of any of my friends as beautiful, despite that I feel like they are on principle, and for lack of any dissenting opinion. Does that mean the Dashwoods are exceptional, or is that sort of aesthetic thought common for the time, or am I personally missing something about people?
Oh dear lord the children are actually just bullying the guests. Of course.
She saw their sashes untied, their hair pulled about their ears, their workbags searched, and their knives and scissors stolen away, and felt no doubt of its being a reciprocal enjoyment.
P-Please Lady M, have mercy on the Miss Steeles. So it's not that the girls are good with kids, it's just they they're really good at pretending this is okay to their host. This reminds me of the time a bunch of gifted and talented tweens tied my shoelaces together and tried to take snips of my hair for "DNA samples." Fun day. Those kids are like 20 now, I wonder how they're doing?
With such a reward for her tears, the child was too wise to cease crying.
HAHA! This is also another of the neat little spins that get lost in adaptation huh. Unless pains were taken to preserve this, on screen it would just be a scene where the child kept crying as they were being pampered. But here the single lines changes the whole character of the scene.
Regardless, remedying her youngest does produce a reason for Lady M and her children to exit stage, leaving the Dashwoods room and quiet to speak with the new girls alone.
The girls are still talking up the Middletons, so seeing as Marianne can't withold her true feelings for the sake of politeness, Elinor carries the weight of the talking. Which isn't much, really short awkward impasse on the quality of rowdiness in children.
beaux
I-what? One of the Steele sister has started talking about beauxs. I'm relieved that Elinor is as confused as I am on what a beaux with an x is. Elinor even uses it without an x, so I personally feel vindicated, though this implies that the x in beaux isn't silent when Miss Steele says it. Be-owks?
"Lord! Anne," cried her sister, "you can talk of nothing but beaux - you will make Miss Dashwood believe you think of nothing else."
Too late, Elinor has already written them off in her mind. I'd comment something or other about writing people off but honestly I'd be exhausted of all these strangers too.
Alas for Elinor and Marianne this feeling is not mutual and they are very much on the awkward end of, alas, unrequited friendship. How was everybody's Valentines day, by the way? I spent some time playing around with a piano. Turns out you can close your eyes and hammer anything on the major blues scale and it'll come out sounding sassy. :D
Anyway, to aid the Steeles in their quest for friendship, it seems Sir Middleton has armed the girls with every piece of gossip he knows or assumes of the Dashwoods. Whoop. So now they too know every about every brief brush with romance the Dashwoods have had.
The letter F- had been likewise invariably brought forward, and found productive of such countless jokes, that its character as the wittiest letter of the alphabet had long been established with Elinor.
Heheh, well, that'll happen. Ah, but it's even spread to the Steeles. Poor Elinor. Sir Middleton spills the beans nigh-immediately, while telling the girls not to blab about this "great secret."
Hrk. That's giving me personal flashbacks which I suppose I won't expand on, on pain of irony.
Buuuut it does reveal that the Steele sisters are apparently quite familiar with Edward Ferrars! Perhaps they can tell us why- oh, nope, nup. They also say basically nothing of substance, and Elinor is too reserved to interrupt them or ask questions. Well, it would probably seem really awkwardly eager too, to suddenly ask after the person you're probably deliberately trying to keep a social veil of plausible deniability up around.
And that's it for this chapter! So between this and last chapter, nothing immediate seems to have occured, but we've been introduced to the Palmers who know Willoughby and Brandon, and the Steeles, who know Eddie. If I had to guess I would hazard that this getting the setup out of the way for some sort of convergence of information later? The sort where the house of cards collapses, probably something that'll rattle Elinor something real shook. I feel like there's a shoe waiting to drop pretty hard with Eddie.
Sir Middleton is probably has a time bomb of a party in the works, if it would take gathering all these families in one place.

Of Rising Calamities Beyond the Cosmos: Chapter 6
“Okay Kid, can you run that by me again? I don’t think I heard you over the music.”
“Jane and your daughter went out on an errand three days ago and we haven’t heard anything from them since,” Nero said. “I tried calling Jane on her phone two days ago, but she didn’t answer me,” he continued with a frown on lips. “Did the same thing with Kagome...and I, unfortunately, ended up with the same results.”
Tony looked up and paused the song that was playing on his phone. Then he slowly took his earbuds out, sat both it and the device down on the table in front of him, and massaged the side of his temples with a sigh.
‘Wonderful...just wonderful...’
There was a small headache he could feel forming now, right along the bridge of his nose and near his brows, and not all of it had to do with him forgetting to eat breakfast this morning. Hopefully Pepper doesn’t decide to kill him once she and Morgan come back from the store. “Yeah, I thought I misheard you there for a second but apparently I didn’t. Ugh!, Shame on me for wanting to be wrong just this once,” the short brown haired man said that last sentence to himself with a wince. “Did you look everywhere for them?” he reclined back in his chair, laced his fingers together, and sat them on top of his lap, looking intently at each and every one of his seven guests sitting on the couch, covered in cuts and bruises.
“We did. We searched through every island in the surrounding area,” Lady spoke up from her spot on Nero’s right tiredly. “Then we retraced our steps back to Snow Lunar Island yesterday morning to see if they made it back to the suite yet, and they didn’t.”
Tony narrowed his eyes. “Are you sure? Did you check every island thoroughly?”
“What do you mean by “Did you check every island, thoroughly”? Of course we did! We’ve spent two days combing through all six in that area and we found nothing!” a seed of irritation slipped through Alvin’s voice as he said this. “Unless you’re trying to tell us that there’s another island out there hidden somewhere?” he folded his arms.
A smile appeared on Tony’s lips as he unlaced his hands and sat up. “Actually...” he got up and walked out of the living room, much to their confusion. “There is one. There's another island that’s a bit farther away from the other six, and it’s considered to be the biggest one of them all,” he came back into the room a minute later with a red and black laptop in his hands and sat it down on the table in front of the group, already turned on with a few windows displayed on the screen.
“The biggest one?” a young woman with long blond hair in two pigtails and pale green eyes repeated, clutching onto a small purple and pink plush toy with horns and green eyes in her hands.
“A seventh island huh? That’s...interesting,” a young man with long spiky black hair and amber eyes said in slight awe.
Tony clicked on a few keys, that lit up blue, and brought up a small map hologram. “Yep! The biggest one!” he flipped through the islands, “Let’s see...Snow Lunar Island, Sun-fort Blaze Island, Deepwood Crystal Island, High Gold-rails Island, Night Maze Island, Glimmer Shardz Island...” and listed each of their names off. “Ah! Here it is!” the short brown haired man grinned in triumph as he found the seventh one, located over on the other side of the ocean near one of the mainland, and clicked on it.
Within mere seconds, a wall of text filled with information about the island showed up next.
Lady squinted her eyes and zeroed in on the name of the island that was highlighted in bold orange. “New Stargate Island...? That’s a pretty normal-looking name for an island...well, compared to the other six at least,” she said with a raised brow. Then she looked down and continued reading. “Huh? It says here that the island was made through the combined efforts of the Stark Enterprise and their CEO, the M.A.N.O.P.I. and their CEO, the King of New Asgard along with her Gatekeeper, the King of Rieze Maxia along with his Prime Minister, the Talim Medical School, and Laforte Research Center, Dr. Selvig and his team of scientists, and the Five Great Spirits of Earth...” Lady trailed off in shock. "Two years ago!?"
“That’s a buttload of people to come together for one project. But then again, it was an island they were building after all. It must’ve taken a lot of time, money, and resources for them to come up with something like this,” Darcy remarked, finally speaking up for once. “And they finished it within two years too? Damn...that is actually pretty freaking impressive I’m not gonna lie.”
“It went in development at the beginning of 5016 actually,” Tony corrected her.
"And it's 5024 now..." Lady stated matter-of-factually and folded her arms. "But since the island was completed two years ago, which was in 5022, I'd still say that's impressive. It took them six years to create and build a whole artificial island," she finished with a smirk.
“Gaius, Rowen, and almost of all Fennmont were involved in this too?” the black spiky haired man mumbled with a blink. “They never mentioned anything to me about this in the past,” he turned to Alvin, the light blond haired woman in pigtails, and the plush toy. “What about you Alvin? And you Elize? Teepo?”
Elize and Teepo looked at their friend and shook their heads. “No, they never told us anything either, Jude.”
“Same here I’m afraid,” Alvin unfolded his arms and gave the younger spiky dark haired man a small shrug.
“That’s because Pepper and the others kept the whole thing under wraps after it was shortly "announced" back in 5015 on November 1st, and only then, they entrusted a few select sum to keep quiet on it,” the group snapped their attention back on Tony. “Sure the Stark Enterprise may have said that they had a new project in mind and that it was going to be a collaborative one, but they were pretty vague on what it was going to be about, who they were going to collaborate with, and other things.”
“So it was intentional then?"
"And I suppose you were chosen to be a part of that select sum, right?”
“Y...yes...” Tony looked slightly hesitant as he answered Lady and Jude's questions.
"And the public, which includes us as well, is not supposed to know about this being finished just yet..." Alvin asked, looking at Tony. “Am I right?” when the man said nothing in response, the ex-mercenary continued. "Which means you pretty much failed on your part."
Tony closed his eyes in defeat and sweat-dropped. "Guess I did huh?"
"Hey don't worry Mr. Iron Man, we won't tell anyone!" Teepo leaned forward with a grin on his face, which caused the short brown haired man to open his eyes and do a double take. "Especially Mrs. Stark! We’ll keep it a secret! Our little secret!" he declared with an enthusiastic voice, making Tony sweat drop again.
"That sounds so reassuring coming from a weirdly odd talking magic doll like you but sure, whatever,” he laughed once he got over his surprise. “Go ahead and knock yourself out...Teepo."
Teepo let out a small “whoop!” as he freed himself from Elize’s arms and flew around the room, as well as everyone else’s heads, in a circle.
Nero narrowed his eyes and gave him a serious look.
"Alright, in that case, you might as well just tell us what the island is for then. What's its purpose?"
Tony sat back down in his chair, closed his eyes, and scratched the side of his beard in thought.
“Well...it was created to be a sanctuary for some of the more powerful and rarest of spirits, monsters, and animals that previously had a hard time living amongst us folks on the mainland because of the few...special abilities they’ve possessed. And some of their special abilities can, unfortunately, leave a negative effect on the land and damage it,” he explained. “Not only that, but they were a few less than unsavory assholes out there who hunted these poor creatures into near extinction in the past for many years until we found them and stopped them for good,” the man added with a frown. “By doing that, we were able to save what beings were still left alive. And by the time New Stargate Island was finished, we took the survivors and transferred them over to the island under the agreement that they help us out with future projects that could help Earth advance even further."
"Advance in what areas if I may be so bold as to ask? From what I've learned and seen over the years since visiting this world—especially in my readings about it beforehand, Earth has come pretty far in a lot of things since the last three millennia or so. And it was quite the significant jump at that I heard too. So what are you guys hoping to advance more in?" Jude inquired, his amber eyes lit with so much unguarded interest and curiosity.
It was almost enough to make Tony smile.
‘Well this Jude here seems like an interesting guy. Bright, curious, intelligent, has a passion for learning, and is just an overall bookworm it seems...’ Tony inwardly shook his head in amusement and with laughter. ‘If he and Jane ever meet, if they haven’t already yet, the two will definitely get along for sure,’ he opened his eyes and looked at the group, though most of his attention was mainly focused on the black spiky haired man.
“{Vegetation, herbs, medicine, armory, technology, and more. What else is new with you humans and non-humans.}”
The sudden new female voice made everyone except Tony jump and they looked around to see where it was coming from. Then they all gasped in shock when a small green fairy with blue eyes surrounded in thick black rings appeared before them, hovering in the air, and without a word, she claimed a spot on the table next to the laptop and waved at the only guy was not in shock.
Tony just sighed and looked up. “F.R.I.D.A.Y., why didn’t you tell me Celebi was here?”
“She just got here, Mr. Stark. I was going to alert you, but it seems she decided to bypass my security and let herself in,” the AI answered.
The man rolled his eyes, though a bit playfully from what it seems like to the group.
“As usual and doesn’t even bother to use the door like some of her friends do whenever they decide to visit,” Tony lightly snorted. “I should probably get used to it huh...?” he looked at the mythical pokemon in front of him. “Okay Princess Pixie, not that I’m happy to see you here because I actually am—but it’s still early here, like nine a.m. early, so what do I owe the visit for?”
“{We have a poisoned half-spirit woman named Jane in our care on the island,}” Celebi started, immediately gaining the people behind her their attention. “{She and her niece along with a griffin, who turned out to be a tall man with long black hair and wearing some kind of weird clothing and armor, arrived to us three days ago covered in injuries,}” she explained. “{The other pokemon took care of their injuries but they had no success in curing the girl from the poison. Right now I have Zoroark and the others looking for your daughter, Absol, and her group to pick them up from their trip to finding ingredients for an antidote.}”
“Because of this news, I’m gonna let it slide that no one —except for you and your legendary friends, the monsters, spirits, and animals as well as Lucario and his friends with special permission given from me because of their situation— is supposed to be on the island since it hasn’t been announced open to the public just yet.”
Celebi’s antennas and her wings drooped at the man’s look.
“{I’m sorry.}”
He shook his head. “Don’t worry about it. Who’s watching over Jane right now?”
“{Misdreavus’ group and the tall guy,}” she replied.
Tony rubbed his chin with a hum. “So you came here to see if I have something on me to help her.”
Celebi smiled. “{Actually, I was hoping to bring you to the island with your stuff and cure her there,}” she said.
“You know what...” Tony picked up his laptop and turned it off, making the map hologram disappear. “Bring her, Kagome, and the guy here as fast as you can and I’ll cure Jane. It’ll be much better this way because I’ll have full access to everything in my lab,” he instructed the pokemon before getting up from his seat and grabbing his computer. “Meanwhile, I’ll call my son to see if he can fly over to the island and pick up all the pokemon there and bring them here too. I have something for them that they might like.”
“{Okay,}” the mythical psychic and grass pokemon nodded. “{I’ll let the others know once I make it back to the island,}” she told him and then added, “{Just to make sure that there won’t be any surprises when he stops by.}”
“That’s fine,” Tony turned to the group. “You guys go with her. I’ll stay here and get everything ready and set up in my lab. Can you do that?”
“Sure can!” Darcy spoke for everyone and gave Tony a mock salute as she and the others stood up from the couch.
“Just one question,” Lady said and everyone turned to her. “How are we gonna get there? Sota dropped us off here, but I’m sure he’s long gone by now and heading back to Snow Lunar Island.”
Before Tony could answer, he heard a familiar roar outside. With a small grin, he walked past the surprised group and Celebi and towards the front door. “Rayquaza’s got perfect timing! I can hear him now!” he opened the door and ran outside, immediately spotting a huge green and black serpentine dragon pokemon with red accents on the fins of his back and tail and yellow ring-like symbols running across the length of his body and on top of his head. “Hey Green Sunshine!” he called out to the dragon and flying type legendary in greeting.
Yellow eyes with black sclera met dark brown ones.
And as for his form of greeting? He immediately fired a weak multi-colored shock wave of energy in the shape of a dragon at the human man without a word.
BOOM!
“Aw damn it?!” Tony shouted as he was knocked back.
                                            XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Rayquaza could never get tired of this, firing weak Dragon Pulse attacks at Tony every time they greet each.
Or, at least, for as long as he keeps calling him by that ridiculous nickname.
It may have gotten annoying in the beginning and he may have tried to freeze the man once or twice with an Ice Beam out of irritated retaliation, but he got used to it the more Tony called him “Green Sunshine”. It was an odd way of greeting someone—and the others sure thought that when he and the man started turning this into some kind of routine.
In fact, the legendary dragon always got a kick out of the man’s reactions every time he stopped by to say hello, which in this case was fire an attack at Tony and see if the guy manages to dodge it or not.
Sometimes he’d switch it up and throw two different attacks at Tony simultaneously, and other times he didn’t...
It was the variety he always looked forward to.
And today was no different, Rayquaza mused, watching Tony knock the soot and dirt off of him as the group from behind the short brown haired man stepped outside too and turned to him in shock.
“Another Legendary pokemon...”
“{Hey Rayquaza!}” Celebi, who flew out from behind the group, waved at the dragon.
Rayquaza merely glanced down at the fairy and nodded at her, acknowledging her greeting
“Phew! Guess I was slow to dodge that one this time around,” Tony coughed as he got to his feet and looked the serpentine dragon. “Hey buddy, I got a favor to ask for ya.”
“{What kind of favor?}” he descended to the ground and flicked his tail through the green grass of Tony’s front lawn.
“Think you could take Celebi and these guys here over to New Stargate Island and bring back a friend of mine named Jane?”
Rayquaza narrowed his yellow eyes and looked at the group of humans standing before him. “{Hmm...}” before he could say anything further, Celebi flew up to him and whispered something.
Without taking her eyes off the two legendaries mumbling to each other quietly, Lady leaned over to Tony’s shoulder and whispered to him. “Hey Tony, you never told us that Pokemon were real and, from what it seems, have been living among us this whole time! What’s up with that?”
“They’ve been among us for many years now. Some of them just haven’t decided to show themselves out in the open until some time last year,” he whispered back to her. “And that was purely by accident. A few of them, including Rayquaza and Celebi, appeared before me and the guys in the team in the middle of our battle with Malekith and his right hand Algrim, and saved us.”
The other six, who were listening in, looked at Tony in shock.
“Long story short, me, Clint, Bruce, Rhodey, Peter, Strange, Bucky, Rocket, and a couple of hand full of civilians in a few cities know of their existence,” he mumbled in explanation.
“And the regular pokemon?” Darcy quietly asked.
“Unlike the legendaries and mythicals, let’s just say that Lucario and the others are the visitors who’ve arrived here at the beginning of this year.”
“In other words, they’re not from this universe and are currently stuck here,” Jude stated matter-of-factually.
“Eh, yeah...” Tony confirmed with a shrug.
“{Okay...}” Rayquaza spoke up and grabbed all of their attention. “{I’ll take them to go get the girl, your niece, and the guy,}” he said, looking straight at Tony.
“Great!” the man said with a grin.
“Sweet! We get to ride on the back of a legendary dragon pokemon!” Darcy and Elize cheered in unison along with Teepo, who flew around above the two in excitement. “This is gonna be a blast!”
Nero, Lady, Alvin, and Jude sweat-dropped at their enthusiasm.
Tony, on the other hand, just laughed.
Rayquaza rolled his eyes, and with a sigh, he turned around and waited. His friend Celebi flew up and sat down on his head. Then she looked back down at the group and motioned for them to get on.
Nero stay behind a bit as the others started making their way over to the huge dragon and getting on his back. “Hey Tony...” he turned to the man and slowly pulled out a familiar blue cube, that was still inside of the transparent case, from seemingly out of nowhere. “Can you look after this for me until we get back and figure out what to do with it?”
Tony froze and looked down at the infinity stone with his eyes wide in shock. “That’s the—”
“Yeah, it’s the Tesseract. And the stone’s been causing us some problems for the last three days,” he said with a frown and held it out. “One of those problems turned out to be an old enemy of yours and the Avengers. They appeared and attacked us yesterday in the afternoon time.”
Tony narrowed his eyes, looking over the white haired man before carefully taking the case and vanishing it in his pocket dimension. “Let me guess, the Black Order?” when Nero nodded, Tony sighed and continued speaking. “So that’s why you all look beat up and bone dead tired,” he gave the younger man a hard look and folded his arms. “Alright, fine, I will. But just make sure you guys hurry up and get back here with Kagome, Jane, their friend, and the pokemon. I don’t want to hold onto this damn stone any longer than I have to and risk bringing trouble onto my property.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t let them get anywhere near here!” Nero bawled his left hand into a fist. “Not if I and the others can help it!” his eyes burned with intense determination and promise as he looked at Tony in the eyes.
“You sure?”
“Positive. All of us took an extra shot or two, maybe four, of something this morning before we left. And now we’re running purely on determination, power, energy, and a lot of caffeine if you can’t tell.”
For his part, Tony kept silent as he stared back at Nero, his eyes matching the other man’s intensity. He heard the devil hunter loud and clear, and understood him.
“Trust me, I can. But for the love of god, please don’t crash or I swear I’ll come out there to the island, in my suit, and drag every single one of your guys’ reckless behinds back here myself and blast you all to Kingdom Kong with my repulsors.”
“..........”
“Or if you can’t help but crash and burn, just make sure y’all do it here and not out there! Got it all, Kid?”
“...Yeah—”
“Nero!”
“C’mon, what’s the hold up? We’re waiting for you!”
Nero turned around to see everyone sitting on the dragon’s back, who was now giving him a look that clearly said “hurry up”. “Time to go...” he mumbled to himself as he started walking towards the legendary, and without looking back, the devil hunter threw his left hand up in a wave. “Thanks Tony!”
In just a few steps, Nero reached Rayquaza’s side and leaped high up into the air. “{Nice jump!}” he heard Celebi said from above him as he landed near the dragon’s first set of fins and took a seat in front of Lady, who was sitting ahead of the others.
‘{Finally, now we can get going,}’ Rayquaza turned his head and looked up at the sky.
Once he felt everyone grab a tight hold of either his fins or body, the Sky High Pokemon shot up into the air like a bullet and flew through the cloudy morning sky.
                                            XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Tony stood there on the porch of his lawn, letting the wind ruffle through his hair and clothes as he stared up into the sky. ‘Well, time to go back inside and get everything ready for their arrival,’ he closed his eyes right as the wind died down.
The man held out his hand and channeled a bit of mana in it. Then with a quick few gestures, he began to chant the words:
“I call upon the Great Spirit of Lightning, Raiden, and the Great Spirit of Wind, Gale, to appear by my side!”
Two figures—both reaching about six-foot-ten in height, materialized in front of Tony in a bright flash of light that consisted of a single blue lightning bolt and a mini green twister, stirring up a bit of dirt in the air and making the man back up and close his eyes.
“[Why have you summoned us, Tony?]”
The short brown haired man opened his eyes back up and looked at the two great spirits hovering in front of him.
On the left was Raiden, the one who just asked Tony the question. He was a tan colored humanoid griffin with golden-yellow spiky hair and had two long bangs hanging over his intense ruby eyes—which were rimmed black on the sides, long feathered white pierced ears that stood on top of his head and bled black at the tips, huge black and white accented wings that were flapping away in the air, and a long black-blue tipped tail that was current wrapped around his waist.
He wore a white and sky blue-gold accented haori that was sleeveless on the right side, revealing his arm that was covered up by his black leather arm warmer, over a tight sleeveless black shirt and dark blue undershirt. And lastly, on his lower body he wore black dress-like pants that were stylistically cut out in middle area to reveal the dark blue-white accented tights he had on underneath, all of which was tucked into his sleek black and sky blue accented knee-high boots with armored white soles.
“[Did something happen here?]”
And hovering next to Raiden was Gale, the one who spoke up next. He was a fair skinned humanoid cabbit with long wavy emerald green hair and six lighter green colored side bangs, stormy silver eyes, long white ears that were tipped black at the ends and hanging down behind the back of his head, and a black bobtail.
He wore a dark charcoal gray and white-green striped dress hat over his head, a dark green sleeveless shirt that stopped right underneath his ribs and showed off his whole stomach—which was colored black from each side, a black and white open zip-up vest over that, deep black elbow guards with silver armor attached to them on his arms, and black gloves that were colored white on the front. And lastly, on his lower body he wore some white and black striped three-quarter pants that had a waist cape attached to it and bled green at the very bottom, and some dark charcoal gray-black accented armored boots with silver soles.
“Oh yes, something definitely did happen here,” Tony answered with a small roll of his eyes. “And quit pretending to be surprised. I sensed you two lingering around the area earlier, so I’m pretty confident that you guys overheard the whole conversation between all of us.”
“[We did,]” Gale flat-out admitted the truth, deciding not to beat around the bush now that their human companion saw right through them.
“[And it’s such a shame to hear that young and powerful Jane has fallen apart due something simple as poison,]” Raiden closed his eyes and shook his head in slight disappointment. “[I’m sure she could’ve burned it out of her system with her fire if she wanted to. She’s done it before.]”
“That may be true, but if it’s a different kind of poison she’s been afflicted with—one that I might think belongs to a certain Komocorpion Dragon species...the Purple Headed kind, then I have just necessary items here at home to take care of her.”
Gale frowned at the mention of the hybrid creature. “[Those monsters in particular, as close to extinction as they are, can be a bit bothersome. Their poisonous claws and venom can pretty deadly and will kill if you’re not too careful,]” he gritted his teeth in worried irritation.
Raiden cracked open his eyes and turned at the wind cabbit spirit. “[But...if the venom is procured under the right conditions, you can make some great medicine out of that stuff,]” he pointed out with a knowing look.
“...Or an antidote,” Tony looked down and turned away, hiding his face from Raiden and Gale. “And other things as well...” he trailed off in a strange voice. “Which is why I want you two to follow them and check on Jane to see exactly how bad her condition is.”
The two great spirits blinked and turned to each other with furrowed brows. A look of agreement seemed to pass through their eyes as they turned back to Tony and looked at him.
“[As you wish.]”
They both took off into the sky within a blink of an eye.
Tony sighed and harshly rubbed his hand over his face. ‘Ugh fucking damn it, Jane! You really got yourself in pickle this time huh...’ he cursed the woman who he cared for like a little sister in his head. ‘Just...please try to hang in there. Help is on the way!’ he slowly removed his hand and dropped it at his side, feeling extremely tired and stressed all of a sudden as he started walking back towards his mansion-like home.
“Now to make that phone call to Sota,” he mumbled as walked inside and shut the door closed, locking it behind him.
                                            XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
“Talonflame...Magmar...I believe you two have done enough for now.”
The two fire types looked up, snapping their eyes open to see Misdreavus and six others trail along behind her.
The first two were pretty small. It was a female Emolga, who was an electric black and white flying squirrel with gray eyes and yellow cheek pouches, and a male Roselia, who was a light green plant-like creature with three horns on his head, roses for hands —the left one being blue while the right one was red—, and black eyes. And they were both sitting on the back of a female Liepard, who was a purple and yellow leopard-panther with small yellow ring markings all over her body and wore a pink mask over her green eyes and nose.
Behind them, there was a male Leafeon, who was a tan and green colored fox with brown paws, brown eyes, and tiny green sprouts over various parts of his body, walking just to the side of Liepard.
And the final two who took up the rear turned out to be a female Gardevior, who was a tall green and white humanoid creature with short spikes on the side of her face, red eyes, and had red fin-like horn extending from the front of her chest and out through the middle of her back, and a male Bisharp, who tall red and black-white humanoid creature with a golden double-headed axe blade attached to hit war helmet, black eyes, and two white blades encircling his torso.
“It appears that we have fallen asleep...”
Misdreavus shook her head at the two as she and the other six stopped in front of the fire types. “It’s alright,” she reassured them with a slight smile and looked down at the sleeping half-spirit. “At least you two managed to keep her warm throughout the night.”
Magmar and Talonflame followed her line of sight and looked down at Jane. From what they can feel, the woman wasn’t that cold anymore. But that didn’t mean she was out of the woods just yet.
There was still that poison that needed to be taken care of. And since they couldn’t really do anything about that, they left it alone and focused on keeping the woman alive by healing her whenever her health dropped at bit.
“Where is that guy at?” Magmar asked as he moved away from Jane’s side while Talonflame carefully flew off her chest.
“He left with other remaining Pokemon to go check out the front end of the island last night,” Gardevior spoke up.
“And I think he also mentioned something about finding a way to remove the chains,” Bisharp added with a mumble.
“((Which I finally did as a matter of fact! And I have the water pokemon, Turtonator, and Tyranitar to thank for that.))”
The group turned around to see the dark haired man standing in front of a huge group of pokemon, which consisted of the following: Skarmory (male), Turtonator (male), Lapras (male), Dewgong (male), Pikachu (female), Mudsdale (male), Tyranitar (female), Floatzel (female), Passimian (male), Flygon (female), Swanna (female), Ledian (male), and Mienshao (female).
“You guys are...” Emolga trailed off in her greeting, noticing something completely different about the man. “Wow! Your chains are gone!”
Before Leafeon and Roselia could point out the muzzle still wrapped around the man’s mouth, they noticed the look he and the others had on their faces. “What’s wrong?”
Mienshao stepped forward. “I think the rest of you should come with us and take a look at what’s happening at the front of the island.”
Liepard narrowed her eyes in suspicion.
“Why?”
“Just get the girl and follow us.”
Misdreavus and her group frowned at the Martial Arts Pokemon’s words as she, Loki, and the other twelve pokemon turned around and headed back up the hill, in the direction of where the cave was at. Then they looked at each other and sighed.
“Guess we’ll find out soon...” Talonflame said with a shrug of his wings.
“Yeah,” Liepard nodded.
The two along with Emolga, Roselia, Magmar, and Misdreavus started running after the others up the hill.
“Don’t worry about it, Bisharp,” Gardevoir stopped the dark/steel type right as he was about to kneel and pick up the woman up. “I’ll carry the girl for now. But if I get tired along the way, then I’ll let you take over.”
The Sword Blade Pokemon nodded his head, watching his friend pick Jane up in her arms, bridal style. “Let’s go...” with a shared look of understanding between them, the two moved closer until they were standing side-by-side and ran up the hill to catch up with the others.

The snow fell the night before New Years’ Eve, blanketing the bushes and trees with thick, unbreachable oceans of snow. Max stood at his window to watch it fall. His father tilted his head forward to rest it on Max's head and said, “Guess you and the club aren’t going out tomorrow, huh, kiddo?”
“Guess not,” Max said, and after his father left, he watched the snow drape Mayview in layers and layers of soft, glittering quiet. At the bottom of the valley, someone was having a party, and the lights started to blink away as the moon leapt higher in the sky.
He crept into Zoey’s room before midnight. Yawning, she sat up in bed as he perched next to her, and they watched the clock tick toward 12:00. “Last day of the year,” he whispered when it did, and pressed a kiss to the side of her head. Laughing under her breath, she squirmed, but when Max stood to leave, she smiled up at him, eyes hazy and happy.
His father was fast asleep when he peeked into the master bedroom, tucked in on the left side of the bed, clutching his pillow tightly. Max slipped in beside him and stared up at the ceiling as his father snored and settled a little. The snow dampened everything outside. Even in Baxborough, where cars would run and dogs would bark for all hours of the night, the snow silenced the world, just a tad.
Here in Mayview, where it was usually quiet, Max felt like he was trapped in a pale imitation of a real world.
He tiptoed back into his own room at closer to one in the morning. PJ and Lefty were on the ground, reading, and just watched when Max climbed back between his own blankets. “Goodnight,” PJ said when Max was nearly asleep, and Max grunted a reply.
---
The next morning, bright and early, the Puckett household was surprised with a gang of preteens on their front stoop. Max, barefooted and still rubbing sleep from his eyes, threw open his window and was bombarded with shouts.
“Where were you?” =broke through Max’s fuzzy thoughts, and he tried to groan a response before just giving up, throwing on a couple more layers, and tumbling out his window onto a shocked Isaac O’Connor. Breath freezing in the air, Ed whooped, and Isabel threw back her head to laugh.
“What the hell?” Isaac asked, probably a little bruised, and Max unlocked his door to grab shoes and a coat.
“Dad, Zoey, I’m going out!” he shouted up the stairs, and someone yelled something back at him, and Max slammed the door shut, and pulled his boots on, and then they headed to the high school’s field.
“This started, like, ten years ago,” Isabel told him, “when two kids got into a huge fight and everyone in the school took sides and some of them met here to have a snowball fight. Nobody actually knows who started now, or why, but now you do it through middle school and end it when you get to high school.”
“Some kids tried to start one with the high school vs the Mayview Academy kids, but it didn’t really work out,” Ed chimed in, and Isaac grimaced.
“Yeah,” he said. “I think the principal banned all projectiles made of precipitation, so like, it’s technically illegal for it to hail there?”
“Anyway,” Isabel said, catching Isaac on the shoulder and shoving him a little, “you can form teams and alliances and stuff, and usually you stick with your grade or club.”
Ed’s brow darkened, and he muttered, “The football team is always ruthless.”
They reached the top of the hill a few minutes later. While Max was expecting to see maybe thirty other kids there, the entirety of Mayview Middle School was on the school’s front field, along with a few kids that might not even go there. Clustered in one corner of the track field were the sixth graders, quiet and probably a little afraid, and the eighth graders had control of most of the baseball diamonds, so the clubs and the seventh graders had gotten the parking lot and the open grassy area, both of which were now ankle deep in snow.
Max could honestly say he didn’t expect to see Suzy yelling at the president of the film club at the top of her lungs, but he could believe it.
“You can’t just say you want to join a team the day of!” Suzy yelled, probably scaring some birds off of nearby trees. “WE HAVE BEEN PLANNING THIS FOR MONTHS!”
“Hey, Suzy,” Max called across the parking lot, just to see the response. “Can the Activity Club join your team?”
“Yeah, sure thing,” Suzy called back without looking, and then screamed, “THEY AT LEAST WILL HAVE PEOPLE TO HELP US!”
Unimpressed, Isaac stared at Max for a hard second, and sighed. “Well,” he said, tipping his head back to look at the great deity in the sky that he sometimes talked to. “I guess we’re teamed up with the Newspaper for the annual snowball fight.”
Ed grabbed his arm and pulled him to the rest of the team -- Lisa, Violet, Cody and Jeff, a few rebellious eighth graders, and, surprisingly, Johnny Jhonny and his friends. Isabel and Max were left to watch the proceedings, as the untidy mess of kids arranged themselves into something resembling an army. Lisa, unsurprisingly, rose to the top, despite Suzy and Johnny’s attempts to usurp her, and Cody Jones made an excellent second in command.
Max sighed. “Guess we’d better head over there,” he said.
“Yeah,” Isabel replied. “It’ll be starting at ten.”
Neither made any move towards the disaster, not until Ed and Jeff bodily dragged them to their hideout. Someone, Max had no clue who, had brought a little pop up tent, and there was a table with full on war maps taped to it.
“Wow,” Max said, stunned, and Isabel nodded sagely.
The world outside the tent was cold and damp, but inside, there were fold up chairs and thermoses of hot chocolate. When others were sent outside to make ammunition, Max was kept inside for a little to focus on strategy, and it was there that he got to really appreciate the crazy that was Mayview. For maybe a half hour, they fattened him up with hot chocolate and war plans and those little figures to move around the map, and then, like the cold, conniving leaders they were, Lisa and Cody shoved him out the tent flaps with smiles and a promise that, if they won, he’d have his share of the glory.
Outside, the wind whistled in his ear, and the snow seeped past the tops of his boots, but he had RJ whispering jokes in his other ear, and Suzy lending his a pair of leg warmers, so he supposed it wasn’t all that bad.
They fought valiantly, holding up their barricades and launching attacks at the other armies, but in the end, their defenses were not enough. A bold group of sixth graders attacked their flanks as the football team launched their forces to the front, and one by one the soldiers fell. First it was Dimitri, snow melting across his shoulders as he fell asleep, and then it was one of the eighth graders. Max hadn’t met them before, but as they threw one last snowball at a football player, a single tear froze to his eyelash. Isaac was bawling.
The band kids won, although Isabel complained playing bad music to wear down the other teams was bad form and shouldn’t be allowed in the future. The student council collectively stroked their chins and murmured to each other, and Isaac offered Max a hand up.
“So how was it?” Max asked as they walked home. “That was your last one, right?”
“Yeah,” Isaac said, looking up to the pale gray sky. “It was good, but I don’t think any year would measure up to your first one.”
“Really,” Max said, not as a question.
“Yup.”
Isaac deposited Max at his door, the both of them cold and damp and red with chill, and smiled at him in the fading light. “Y’know,” he said, conversationally, “Spender once said he and Mina Zarei were in the first snowball fight here.”
“Really?” Max asks. This time it is definitely, for sure a question, and, again, Isaac smiled at him.
“Yeah.” He leaned himself against the doorway for a few seconds, watching Max unlock his door, then picked himself up and started to turn away. “Actually,” he said, “Spender told me that he and Mina Zarei were the ones who started it.”
This time, Max smiled, at Isaac’s damp, fading back in the afternoon sun, and headed to his kitchen, where Zoey wass perched on a stool and his father was taking a tray out of the oven. His father heard him coming and straightened, smiling. “Hey, kiddo,” he said. “I made jalapeno poppers!”
Max smiled, and nudged Zoey away from his stool, and stole a popper before his father even put them on a plate. The clock struck 2:00 in the afternoon, and it was the last day of the year. The snow was melting.
