Basically the plot of The Familiar of Zero

In a parallel world where the aristocracy is made up of people who can do magic, Bertie Wooster is quite the loser

From a very powerful and renowed lineage, Bertie's magic has always fallen short of what was expected of him

The only note-worthy moment of his magic career being when, at his familiar-summoning cerimony, instead of a magical animal, Bertie summons an ordinary man from another world (Jeeves)

Jeeves is a valet from our world - living in London in the early 20's looking for a new gentleman to serve when he is summoned by Bertie.

When he is finally able to let everything sink in (magic, different world, etc) he decides to accept his new role as Bertie's familiar. Especially since it's not too different from valet-ing anyway

At first, summoning a common man as a familiar instead of a magical animal only turns Bertie into more of a disappointment. But Jeeves' superior intelect and efficacy makes it so everyone quickly starts coveting him

Every familiar has a rune imprited on them after the pact is sealed - Jeeves' is on the back of his neck
