I do think Blazing Saddles handled its one depiction of native americans very poorly, and the full extent of its representation of chinese workers on the railroad is they were literally just there. not even one single speaking line. unclear if this is worse or better than the redface.

it's fucking phenomenal at lampooning antiblack racism though. extremely blatant, extremely funny satire, which is constantly and loudly saying "racism is the philosophy of the terminally stupid at best and morally depraved at worst, and we should all be pointing and laughing at them 24/7"

plus the main character is a heroic black man who has to navigate a whole lot of bullshit but is constantly smirking at the extraordinarily stupid racists and inviting the audience into the joke. the one heroic white character is a guy who was suicidally depressed until he met the protagonist and they just instantly became buds, and he's firmly in a supporting role the whole time and happy to be there. the protagonist saves the day with the help of his black friends from the railroad, and uses the position of power he was given to uplift not only those friends, but all the railroad workers of other minorities too, in an explicit show of solidarity.

anyone saying "Blazing Saddles is racist" had better be talking about its treatment of non-black minorities. it had better not be such superficial takes as "oh but they say the n-word all the time" or "they have nazis and the kkk in there!" because goddamn if that's the full extent of your critique I very seriously suggest you read up on media analysis. there is too much going over your head, you need to learn to recognize satire.

i think franco did a wonderful job today !! he absolutely killed it and he should be proud of himself . i'm genuinely really glad to see that he's being treated well by williams and is getting the support a driver needs and deserves in this sport .

i also think what should be remembered is that logan didn't get to drive the same car franco is driving right now . and on top of that , jv's "support" of logan this year has been incredible fake and killed logan's confidence . he quite honestly didn't have a proper support system within that team .

franco is driving the williams car with all the upgrades , the same one alex has . logan was forced to drive a car with parts from 2023 . both the front wing and rear wing were from 2023 . a car that was overweight by 15 kilos (33 lbs) . a car that was already bad and only was made worse by the fact that it didn't have the same upgrades as alex did . a car that was absolutely impossible to drive and constantly had problems -- remember how often logan's steering wheel was messed up ??

logan's possibilities of an amazing performance were overshadowed by a car that would get upgrades only to have them promptly taken away . they were overshadowed by the fact that no one -- not even the goddamn commentators , whose JOB is to do the research that we are doing -- could properly do their research on what kind of a tractor logan was driving . everyone was under the immediate impression that logan had the same car as alex when that was the furthest thing from the truth .

and now franco is driving a car that is , indeed , finally equal to alex's car . a car that finally has all the upgrades . of course it's amazing that he's matching alex's pace and i am genuinely so happy for him for that ! but it should also be remembered that he's driving a car that is leagues better from what logan had to drive .

the way that everyone is automatically turning around to talk bad about logan and say "look !! look !! this guy is doing better than logan ever could do !! see !! logan does suck !!" is unfair to logan and shows a lack of proper research . it's truly gobsmacking to see how everyone jumps on the logan hate train and yet they refuse to do any substantial research to understand that logan was driving in a car that no driver could possibly succeed in .

i truly do hope that people realize in the future , specifically the near future , that logan was not treated properly this year . that people realize how logan was constantly given a shit hand and told to make something out of it when that was impossible considering the state the car -- and the team , i mean look at how they messed up with alex today ??? -- was in .

like don't even get me started on how williams messed up with alex today . that was just embarrassing on the team's end . absolutely insane what these drivers have to deal with .

The Marquez family dynamics is like crack to my brain i think about it way to much. Like you've got marc and Alex the most codependent siblings to ever live who shared a bedroom until they moved out of their family home in their 20s just to move in with eachother. From some stuff I've seen Julia and Roser divorced (I have no clue when) they are always following marc and Alex's careers and are very involved and Marc and Alex both speak really highly of them but sometimes I look at how marc and Alex are and some stuff in old articles and go there childhood was definitely not all sunshine and rainbows and happiness and Marc's talked in the past about how he was raised by his grandfather cause his parents always worked but them the economic crisis in Spain made a teenage marc the main money bringer in the family with is crazy. Like Marc and Alex are closer than a lot of twins even are and Marc is like a father figure/brother role and Alex is one of the only people in the world that probably knows Marc's inner thoughts. Like I'm constantly thinking about his post for marc when he left Honda and the stuff he must have seen marc go through in those injury years. And the stories about Marc's injury in 2011 where marc was apparently the most calm one and was the one calming his parents down is crazy to me like 18 years old possible career ending injury and he's the one with the most level head. This got so much longer than I expected.

no i agree its one of those things where even if your parents arent absent or abusive per seee, it also doesnt mean that they are like perfect parents who leave you baggage free. and i think marc and alex CERTAINLYYYY have parental baggage lol

someone said that bearnelli was becoming loscar and people got all up in arms about it but i took it as one getting into a top team and getting results as the other struggles with the car (it literally gave out on ollie in miami) and not the literal loscar f1 lore also not comparing ollie and logan, that’s two different drivers with two different teams and different relationships with their teams (ayoma being supportive of ollie vs james actively being against logan which everyone and their mother saw )

i think the 4s started this one i’m ngl, doxxing a mclaren employee (who had nothing to do with the media side) accusing lily, one of the most private wags on the grid, of having something to do with the car (which is insane!!!) because she’s dating oscar and reducing her to just another woman benefitting off of a man (which again, insane!! given that their driver is one of the most outspoken drivers about women in motorsports), getting upset that oscar didn’t congratulate lando (which he did later in the debrief video, like he always does), getting upset that the op81 didn’t post lando, which why would they??? also just the ln4 account instigating

literally one of the most consistent drivers out there right now!! “inherited/lucky wins” he was literally so consistent??? yes miami wasn’t the best, he wasn’t confident in the car and still managed to get up to p3!! he’s been on the podium 4/6 races, and in those two he was still in the top 5, if anything he deserved those wins and i hope he gets a top step win at some point

A medium tyre mishap in the sprint, plus first lap contact with his teammate, leave Carlos vulnerable over the course of the Miami weekend. Then, radio mismanagement from the Williams team leads to frustration and loss of trust. I'm sure they'll review this together as a team and come back stronger. 💪

I need everyone upset about Liam's promotion to understand that it had nothing to do with him being better/worse than Yuki. Yuki outperformed him. Yuki deserved the chance. BUT Yuki is not a Redbull driver. He is a Honda driver. He has no loyalty to Redbull and that is why he did not get a chance next to Max. It's not that he didn't deserve it. It's pure business.

Redbull are ending their relationship with Honda. They are creating their own engines. It's likely seen as a big liability to Redbull to have Yuki actively involved in any tests or even near anything involving the 2026 engine.

This is not an attack on Yuki or his character or anything like that, so please do not take it that way. But, Yuki's loyalty to a different engine manufacturer is a major risk to any new manufacturer like the Ford/Redbull powertrain. You just never know. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a good drive, but Yuki's loyalty will forever be to Honda (as it should) and that poses a lot of risks for Redbull.

Once again, I am not commenting on Yuki's character or making assumptions about him when I say this, but there are a lot of big concerns if he gets promoted. He could ditch them for Aston immediately because Honda asks, he could share information about the new engine to Honda, or he could give questionable feedback that negatively impacts the new powertrain. Maybe he wouldn't do these things. But if there's even the most miniscule potential that he could, it would make any team hesitant. F1 is rampant with cheating allegations and questionable tactics to win. The teams will want to protect themselves in any eventuality. And that is what's working against Yuki so greatly.

Yuki has proven to be a very competent driver over the past year, but let's not forget that he nearly lost his seat in 2023 and the rumored reason he stayed is due to Honda. He owes his career to Honda, not Redbull. And at the end of the day, that's his main flaw within this team. It's not his driving. It's not his temper. It's not anything else. It's purely who he is aligned to poltically in the racing world. Is that fair? No. Is that how racing works? Unfortunately, yes.

last thing imma say before i go to bed… i’ve been looking over the radio transcripts and yes, passing the back markers was the primary reason for the hold position call and it was only in place for a few laps BUT it’s so important to realize that in a race with unpredictable weather, a few laps can make all the difference in the world. first of all, oscar isn’t fucking stupid. he’s really good at knowing when to commit to an overtake and when to back out, and he definitely wouldn’t go for a risky move and risk getting knocked out when he’s trying so hard to get this win. second, it wasn’t like the back markers were all bunched up. iirc there was like at least 6 seconds btwn ollie and estie. third, and i will reiterate, every single lap is crucial in a race where the weather is that unpredictable. from the transcript it looks like the safety car came out almost immediately after they were told they were free to race. like it had to have occurred to the engineers that every single lap in a race like this has a risk of a safety car and that every safety car (which causes laps to be slower) increases the risk of running into tricky weather later on. this wasn’t some normal sunny race where having 25 laps left means there’s plenty of time to overtake later because LITERALLY ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. they were asking him to give up a really crucial overtaking opportunity after he had done so much work to catch up to lando in the first place. fourth, you can 100% tell that oscar was trying so hard to respect papaya rules because he had no problem closing the gap to lando in the first half of the race and no problem CHARGING through the field to unlap himself and recover to 9th. mclaren need to be careful with what exactly they ask him to give up going forward because one day he is going to run out of patience. fifth, mindset is such an important part of getting the maximum performance out of the car. when oscar was focused this race, he was an absolute beast. the only time he made mistakes were in the middle of the race when he was given the team orders and then had to deal with the uncertainty of the weather. and yes, being able to stay focused in the face of uncertainty is the mark of an excellent driver, so that is something that oscar can definitely work on. but the team’s attitude and environment is also such a crucial part of driver confidence because if a driver has to be worried that their team could issue orders that could compromise their efforts at any moment or if a driver knows that their team isn’t even confident in their own strategy calls then how can they possibly operate the car at peak performance? sixth, the lack of support during his HOME RACE is astounding, especially since last year they invoked team orders telling oscar to give up his p3 spot to lando (it was to reverse oscar jumping lando in the pit lane so im not really salty about it but it still must’ve sucked so much for oscar being asked to give up his home podium).

and honestly, it’s just the lack of support in general that’s doing it for me. a lot of the time it feels like the team function more as babysitters than partners, only worrying about keeping the boys from getting too close to each other on track instead of actually helping them maximize their performance and achieve their best possible result. and that just doesn’t work when you have two drivers that are as ambitious as oscar and lando. the engineers can’t just be a crisis management team. they have to be more supportive of the drivers in their ambitions to perform well individually as well as on a team level.

all of this is to say that yes, the call to hold wasn’t completely baseless, and it definitely wouldn’t make it to the list of mclaren’s worst strategy calls, but that doesn’t mean that it was handled completely well and it absolutely fucked with oscar’s race. there is a delicate balance between doing what is best for the team and doing what is best for the drivers individually and mclaren have GOT to get better at finding that balance otherwise this whole “two WDC-class drivers” thing they’re trying to do is going to seriously backfire

In your nature documentary AU, just how wildly would Soundwave make the humans speculate on what is going On there? Depending on which cassette is seen first, several misunderstandings could arise.

Laserbeak gets seen first and it’s assumed that him and Soundwave are symbiotic because the bird can nest in that chest compartment and probably provides something they need to study further to find. Sure, but is that a CAT? Was it waiting to lure the bird? No, they seem to be getting along! Are those- are those straight up children? Between these two and Lil’ Yellow, are THEIR babies also smaller? Also if those two are being carried because they’re the big guy’s kids, then what’s the deal with the bird and cat?

But if they see the twins first then the animals and all of them “hunting” together, there’s the question of how animalistic the species is.

I'd like to think that Soundwave would probably be forced to be more diplomatic because of how much he and his cassettes are outnumbered with no backup, so while the cassettes won't harm the humans, Ravage and Laserbeak seem to be more competent at hiding themselves and following soundwaves orders of keeping peace then Frenzy and Rumble, who can't help themselves from messing with humans and getting caught first

Personally how I would have them appear is that strange fissures have been spotted in the forests even though these weren't the signs of a normal earthquake, the mystery was solved when Rumble got careless and was rumbling too close to the roads and the two of them got spotted.

They were so much smaller then Bee and must be younger so they didn't want to hurt them, alot were thinking 'damn these kids are causing alot of damage but they are kids' and 'if these kids also have giant robot parents who found out we hurt them we are dead'

Humans set a trap for them using energon borrowed from the 'good' bots and the twins got caught in a drop down cage, when the humans returned with Ratchet to show him, Laserbeak and Ravage had activated the back up traps trying to free them. Not only were there kids there were pets too?? This is when they hear footsteps and Soundwave appears from the forests. The humans take note on how Ratchet is very obviously on edge and putting himself in between them and the other robo family (?) when Soundwave recalls all of the cassettes into his chest. They transform through the bars and fly into his chest??

Z: 'They transform into cassettes??? I thought they can only transform into vehicles'

P: 'That means that the big one must be something that can play them... how strange, maybe its a different species that comes from the same family as our bots'

Ratchet talks to the other Robot the humans can only hear his Siren tuned rant about keeping his cassettes under control, the other bot speaks, it's the popular hit song barbie girl.

To Ratchet, Soundwave says that he will keep an closer eye on them and that they should work together to get off this planet. Ratchet says that they can talk about it later, Soundwave nods and walks off. The humans are like ??? Are you guys both moms???

Soundwave does have a more boxy figure then Ratchet but he's around the same size if not a little taller (Their only reference to a "male" is Orion who is just larger then average) so now they're theorizing if this new species reproduces asexually or doesn't have a family structure, the resemblance the twin cassettes have is way more noticeable then Bee and Angel, also the animals.. are they children? If they can transform into not just vehicles can they transform into other things? What if that tree is a robot? A small group of people are now paranoid of any technology. The main two humans want to see if the animals have a human form too and just choose to be animals. Are they pets? Are they also intelligent? How old are they? Can they speak? Is the dad an animal bot? Are they just a part of the bigger bot he's controlling wirelessly?? Is Bluebie (Blue Barbie) even female??

Soundwave does bring a wave of uncertainty about the all of bots to some the humans... like yeah they could be animalistic and dangerous! Where's the line! And if those things can cause THAT much damage to the town when they're that young, how much damage can a robot like Truck King do? Is their backup plan of using another truck to defeat him not enough? (It definitely isn't even the main two know that before but now the rest of the town does)
