Ok so, following with my little thoughts that pop-up as I watch the new season.

Hearing Ryuji speak about his motivation (or lack of now) reminded me what I thought about the anime once, this whole story is about desire and love, mourning, and overcoming said grief but also about the consequences (neutral term)/outcome of not getting over that phase.

What happen when you love/desire something or someone so much, and that person died or that thing ends, what if it breaks? You're going to mourn them, you're going to felt empty and lost and sad, angry, desperate. And you either make peace with that fact, because the lost of a loved one or a loved thing never gets away, and continue with your life, or you succumb to the hurt and take it out on everyone else.

I think this season is one of the best portrayals of my vision about the story, but if you look at every arc, every season is about desiring, loving, and losing, and mourning.

To put some examples:

Season 1:

The Okumuras, Shura AND Kuro lost Shiro, they are left alone in a big world full of threats, people that hate them for existing. They lost the person that loved them the most above everything else, that gave them a home, a hand, a reason to keep going against the injustice of a world that wasn't kind with them.

And what do they do? They grief, and they mourn, they lash against others (the people that say that Shiro was dead, Satan, Rin) or drown themselves in vices (alcohol, work), because they are lost and don't know what else to do.

But they overcome it, not entirely because that's imposible, you never get over the lost of a figure so important in your life. Rin make friends, Yukio get closer to his brother and Shura, Kuro as well as Shura find a new family and a reason to live.

Season 2:

We get to Ryuji, Koneko, and Shima's journey. They lost their home, their families, their purpose in life, and their childhood.

Ryuji and Koneko works mourn and grief by putting all their efforts into becoming better, as well as they blame Satan because they didn't know the full extent of problems in their families. Koneko devoted himself to the family who open its arms to him, too.

Shima is the one who lost his most of childhood, but his case is different because he did NOT chose to leave it behind, his own family was the one who expected him to throw it away and focusing on becoming a better wielder of the black flames, to devoted his life to a cause he didn't care. He lost his family, one that he couldn't even remember, and that every expected that he would want to make proud and take revenge for them, but how could him when he didn't even feel a connection with them? Instead, he decided to ran away from all that by becoming a spy, refusing to devote to anything and anyone but his own ambitions. But did he even have one to begin with? Does he knows if his ambition is to live? Is his purpose in life living the way he wants? Constantly fighting against the people that loved him because he couldn't do what they wanted?

(Just to clarify, I don't think Shima has any obligation to do what his family or friends want, I'm speaking from my own experience struggling to care about the things my family cared because we are just that different).

They didn't overcome it, but they started the path to do so between the end of that season and the start of the new one.

I don't want to put more examples (though I have a lot more) because we haven't reached that point into the anime yet, but I'm sure manga readers that are at date can think a few more if I mention Yuri, Satan, Shiro, Lucifer, Mephisto, etc.

If I don't remember wrong, Mephisto kinda knew how many thing would go in that timeline until that point, right? So I guess it makes even more sense why he was so laid-back and irritably calm almost all the time

I REALLY NEED AN ANGEL&RIN FIC WHERE THEY SHARED THEIR MOVEMENTS' NAMES

I like the Pace Town Inari's song, I know is like three lines but I like it

When I look at the zombies, or whatever it was their name, I feel like I'm watching the cinematic of an old game remastered with better quality but the same models and all that stuff

I understand that there was a lot of them but they literally reused the same TWO (2) models

Also why they put Suguro's ass in our face????

Shima's such a good actor too! I love his scenes a lot bc if you're attentive enough, you can see the cracks on his mask but also the way you can mistake (specially if you don't know him) for a variety of different emotions

Like during the first walk of Izumo in the chapter, when she was being 'oh it's all over for me!', he looks really uncomfortable but he could disgues it as 'bc is his first time dealing with that kind of stuff' 'he's just freaked out for her attitude' and yada yada

Mike and Uke all the time with Kamiki: 'dumb kid, we would never serve you!'

Mike and Uke when she was in real, real danger: 'dumb kid, we are your weapons, use us!'

ALSO THIS REMIND ME

I feel like this is one of my lastest liking (definitely not favorites) chapters until now, I know we still have six chapters ahead but yeah

Feel it really cheap in comparison with the other's

I started watching aoex season 3

So I decided to share my thoughts as I see the chapters (NOT SPOILER FREE)

Chapter 1:

not a full fan of the new art style but not a hater either

can't forgive them for taking away my troll clown though

also the voice, dunno, maybe I'm remembering the voice wrong in past seasons but yeah, not for me (especially when he says "eins, zwei, drei" I just feel like is the wrong tone)

also, I love the pace of the chapter but am really bitter that they cut the bestism (Angel & Lightning) first show time together so short

THE GEHENNA SCENE WAS SOOOOOO, loved the light hint to trigger response from Rin

uhhhhh what else....

THE SHAPESHIFTER BATTLE

so, so good, when Rin, Izumo, and Shima attacked and the camera was moving I didn't know where to look at

I'MMA FIGHT WITH MY BARE HANDS ANYONE WHO DARES SAYS MY BOY RIN ISN'T SMART AFTER THIS SEASON
