#as a queer who grew up in marlborough#it wasn’t great#i was out as bisexual in 2003 and thankfully i was invisible enough to go under the radar#the visibly queer kids didn’t do as well#they got harassed and bullied#i don’t think anyone would have dared to be openly trans#also a few years before that Johnathan Shepard was tied to a fence post and murdered for being gay#not in Mass#but it certainly wasn’t safe to be openly queer#i cant imagine what it would have been like to have been an adult at that time#trying to date and make your way in the world
