I keep seeing people say that only the first five tags go into track tags, and fyi it’s been way more than the first 5 for a long time now and the ole’ #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 thing will still get your thing shoved into the tracked tags. 

I think it’s something like 20 now? too many to number it out, so I didn’t bother to remember it when the change happened. Annoying for trying to keep your posts lowkey, great for creators. 

and if it’s not like this and it’s just me benefitting from a weird bug, nobody tell staff. I want to keep it.

Recent Reads : November 📚

This is not gonna be a monthly thing. I just wanted to post it and i don’t know how much i’m gonna be able to read this December cause it’s a busy month. I’m thinking of picking up Qiang Jin Jiu and it’s a pretty long and heavy novel so it might take me the whole month. who knows if I’m gonna pick up a short novel in between. If you have any recs based on what I share below, please let me know. Oh, and I also wanna try Fake Slackers.

• First Class Lawyer - NU Link | English Translation

An example of a novel I picked up once and dropped cause i wasn’t in the right headspace. Also at the time it was not completed so I thought to just wait. You can really go back to other stories and give it another try, it’s not always the novel’s fault and i’m happy that I decided to go back and read it. This is such a special story, my first Mu Su Li novel which is from what I understand a popular author ( yes I did read Global Examination but the Manhua ). I’ve always been a fan of scifi stories and settings that touch upon interstellar living. This is really not heavy on technical terms or boring— which is an easy presumption because of the whole “lawyer” thing. There is a good balance between the plot and relationship between the characters.

I adore the dynamic between the MC & ML and i don’t think there is an imbalance at all despite the whole teacher-student setting. if you read the summary of it, you’ll understand there is a twist to it. The ML ( Gu Yan ) is well written too and not flat even if his personality is supposed to be aloof. My favorite trope here tho is how the MC is changed and healed ( in a way ) by the love between him and the ML. It may seem cliche but i like the thought of people living a fuller life because they have someone to share it with. Also Gu Yan’s feelings for Yan Sizhui is so pure i just 😭😭😭

• After I Possessed the Tmall Genie of the School Grass - NU Link | English Translation

I was browsing through some school themed novels because i enjoyed the moon is coming to me novel and this came up. I don’t know why i’m in a school tropes kick for the month but I truly enjoy it. The title sounds like it’s gonna be an absurd story but i was so wrong. T-mall genie is like google home or alexa, where you can ask it do stuff. I thought this will focus on the fantasy aspect but it was so much more based on reality. The “possession” was just a plot device for the MC to get to know the life of the ML that not everyone is privy too.

Lu Yunfei’s hate for the english subject is so hilarious 😂😂😂 and I like the side characters/ friends. The star of the story tho is the ML, Bian Jinyuan. The top student who has to work multiple jobs and has secrets of his own. I feel for Bian Bian because I know how hard it is to work for your education. He is so smart but he is in danger of not finishing school because his family can’t afford it. I love these kids! I don’t think it’s possible to read this and not root for them. This story is really charming. It’s not trying to be something it’s not. It’s about overcoming your prejudice towards people and finding common ground. Strangers/Enemies to Friends to Lovers tropes at it’s finest. Plus it’s super short, only 80 chapters. It’s the perfect weekend read if you wanna be cozy and have no plans to go out— give this a try.

• My Underachieving Seatmate Doesn't Need Any Comforting - NU Link | English Translation

Another high school setting but with tears. Please read the tags over at NU in case you don’t like some topics on your novel and only want fluffy ones. A short story at 120 ( with extras ) and is a solid novel. There is hidden identity trope that causes funny misunderstandings and it’s so sweet how they wanna save each other from their “unfortunate” circumstance. It’s about trying to live a normal life after traumatic things happened to you. A hopeful story, that it’s gonna be a long road to recovery and there will be people helping you along the way.

The romance aspect is so lovely but I like how the author included friends and family in making the MC/ML be a better version of themselves. Usually it’s all about the romantic relationship in novels like this so it is refreshing to read about how important it is to have a good support system and not just you & me against the world. Qiao Shao ( MC ) is really the best boy. I sometimes wanna cry because of how hard he wants to try and get better for the people around him. Seeing his transformation from Chapter 1 to the end is so rewarding. The ML ( He Shen ) is one of favorite characters now. He is a gremlin towards the MC and then cold towards everyone else. The way he dotes on the MC is so sweet too 🤍 Definitely a story I will be thinking about from time to time and will re-read.

That’s all for the Month and I enjoyed it all! I can hopefully apply the trend of one long novel and 1 or 2 shorts ones moving forward but who knows. I still have a lot of stories to get to. ✌🏼

Wrestle Kingdom 13 Preview

For those of you who don't know Wrestle Kingdom is the biggest event for New Japan Pro Wrestling and takes place every January 4th. It closes off some storylines or at least ends a part of it storylines occasionally span years in this company hell the Golden Lovers reunion took 10 years or so. In this post I'll try to layout the back story and competitors in each match.

Pre-show: #1 contendersship for the NEVER Openweight 6-man Tag Team championship.

Togi Makabe and Toru Yano and Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Yuji Nagata, Jeff Cobb and David Finlay vs. Hirooki Goto, Beretta and Chuckie T. vs. Minoru Suzuki, Lance Archer and Davey Boy Smith Jr. vs. Hangman Page, Yujiro Takahashi and Marty Scurll

There's not a lot story to speak of here the match is replacing the New Japan rumble that is normally on the pre-show due to the current champions G.O.D. and Taiji Ishimori having matches on the main card

The winners of the match will go on to face the current champions at New Years Dash the following day

I'm not sure who's going to win this one every group has at least one person I like

I would like Murder Daddy Minoru Suzuki and K.E.S to win since it feels like K.E.S hasn't done too much

With the storyline of Chuckie T. losing his shit and the mole in Chaos I don't know how'd that play out if they won

Taguchi and Yano will probably get played up for laughs during the match

I don't have high hopes for The Elite winning since I don't know how NJPW and AEW are going to get along moving forward

NEVER Openweight Championship

Kota Ibushi (c) vs Will Osprey

This match was set the night Kota won the title shortly after Osprey won the number one contendership

The two compete in different weight classes making a match for this title really the only way the two would face each other short of Osprey moving up to the heavyweight division

It is certainly a dream match for a lot of people myself included these are two of the most impressive high flyers in the business right now

However this is absolutely a high risk match both of these performers styles are extremely high risk and neither really know how not to go all out

I'm legitimately worried for Osprey he's injured himself a lot since I've been watching him I've heard a lot of people worried he may be the next Dynamite Kid and if you don't know enough about that comparison to worry you just know it should

Kota has a history of neck injuries as well

I hope these guys rear it in a bit but all that said this should be a good opener to the main card

Three-way tag team match for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship

Yoshinobu Kanemaru and El Desperado (c) vs. Sho and Yoh vs. Bushi and Shingo Takagi

I'm really hoping Shingo and Bushi win this one as I'm not a huge fan of either of the other teams Desperado and Kanemaru for being such good heels and RPG3K I'm just bot huge fans of also L.I.J has taken the spot for my favorite faction since the bullet club split.

I'm always happy to see Shingo since he's been introduced to the group to essentially fill in the spot for the injured Hiromu Takahashi.

I have no doubt that the plan was always for Shinjo to join L.I.J but the group feels incomplete with out Hiromu and I hope his injuries are healed sooner than later I think New Years Dash may still be too early but NYD does have a history of some crazy shit going down

British Heavyweight Championship

Tomohiro Ishii (c) vs. Zack Sabre Jr.

Not much to say on this match not a fan of ZSJ like there's just something about his body and face that's off to me and his matches are just his opponents having to play along with his absurd submissions

The match should be good though Ishii is much more of a brawler compared to ZSJ and had a good rivalry with Suzuki through out the year

No one can ever fill the Shibata shaped hole in my heart but the closest contenders are definitely Ishii and Suzuki

I do hope Ishii wins but if he does lose hope he goes on to win the New Japan cup because him and Goto deserve to have a run with the heavyweight championship at some point in their careers

Three-way tag team match for the IWGP Tag Team Championship

Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa (c) vs. Sanada and Evil vs. Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson

I hope Evil and Sanada win it would be fantastic for them to not only win the world tag league but the tag titles at the dome two years in a row.

I just want all the good things to happen for L.I.J

I wouldn't mind G.O.D winning from a story standpoint though because they're still running a path of destruction through the company returning to the Bullet Club of old

The Young Bucks unfortunate to say don't belong in this match I'm sorry but they've done nothing to deserve being in the match

I think how the relationship between NJPW and AEW may play into the outcome of the match and if the rest of the elite continue to show up in New Japan

IWGP United States Championship

Cody (c) vs Juice Robinson

Another match that AWE may play into

I'm rooting for Juice in this one he's just such a pure white meat babyface and comes across as so genuine in all his promo work

Cody is the perfect foil to Juice as well just comes across as an absolute snake (irl great guy tho)

This is absolutely Juice's story beating his rival Jay white to become champion the first time coming up short in the g1 and fighting with a broken hand through it and losing the title to Cody at the Fighting Sprit Unleashed event.

Juice is the ultimate underdog and I hope at some point he graduates beyond that and I think this may be the first big step to that if he wins

IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship

Kushida (c) v.s. Taiji Ishimori

While Ishimori hasn't won any major tournaments or had any strong fueds against Kushida he's been booked strong enough to earn the spot

Kushida meanwhile has something to prove in that he is still the Ace of the Jr division in the way Tanahashi is the Ace of the heavyweights

To my knowledge these two haven't had a lot of ring time together but they're both great performers which should certainly make for a good match

Okada V.S. JAY WHITE

The only match that doesn't have any title or contendership on the line this is a match simply based on pride and revenge

At New Years Dash last year White faked out Kenny Omega about joining the bullet club instead opting to join Chaos and soon won the US title from Kenny and defeated Okada in the first day of the G1 tournament causing a rift within the group.

White turns on Okada during the Destruction tour and brings Okada's long time mentor Gedo with him as the two of them and Jado fuck off to join the Bullet Club in their current state

Jay White has come a long way from his debut as the switchblade character I think i used to think of him as babyfaced kylo Ren but now he's a much more legitimate heel than before in a way being a better Cody than Cody ever was since he still has some redeeming qualities from time to time

This year has not been good to Okada but I think he can take the loss plus it will help the bullet club look better in the long term and will leave room for the fude to reignite later on.

IWGP Intercontinental Championship

Chris Jericho (c) v.s. Tetsuya Niato

At least year's NYD Jericho attacked Niato and fucked off for a few months until he came back during Wrestling Dontaku setting up a match for the title at Dominion which Jericho won and continued to beat on Niato

Fellow LIJ members Evil came to stop Jericho planting the seeds for a match between the two but not before Jericho attacked Evil before a match against ZSJ and set forth the opportunity at Power Struggle.

This match has been in the works for most of the year while Jericho has mostly been holding the title hostage Lesnar style and I can't wait to see it

Both Chris and Niato are two of my favorite wrestlers so this should be better than their first match where Jericho pretty much brutalized Niato for most of the match

I say Niato wins they need the IC title to be active in the company again and Jericho may actually be another who will soon fall into the AEW group

Main event IWGP HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Kenny Omega v.s. Hiroshi Tanahashi

These two are some of the best performers this company has

Tana has carried the company through their dark times and been the face of the company since the early 2000s

Meanwhile Kenny touts that he will be the face of the companies westward expansion

Both have every different ideas of how the company should carry itself going forward

This is really a story of the old guard facing the new

It will be interesting to see how things will play out no matter who wins here

Kenny doesn't have a win at a main event in the dome but Tana has plenty behind him at this point

I'm split on who I'd like to win on this one but very excited to see how it plays out and what it means moving forward.

so kai is my fave character and kinda notoriously The Worst while also being The Best, so i’m warning y’all before we even go in that he’s actually so sloppy and wild pls proceed w/ caution. i’ve been playing him for almost 4 years (his “birthday” is march 23rd) and like actual shout-out to chloe who i evidently wrote with on him in indie 2 years ago u got me shook ily tho

now 2 the good part?? which is basically the disorganized horror of me trying to condense him into bullet points. i have a massive STATS FRAMEWORK right there, and his bio can be clicked through from that point as well. if you’re really hating yourself tonight, you can look at my DEVELOPMENT tag too which is pretty much a compilation of useless facts that not 1 single person asked for. anyway.

kai was born into a pretty posh, old-money typea family in manchester, uk. like i’m talking on his mothers side they’re all doctors, lawyers, scholars, etc, etc, and on his dad’s side entrepeneurs. his parents themselves built a fairly large business from the ground up together that now goes by the name of lancaster industries. their current biggest venture and pretty much what they’ve built the whole of their fortune on is a chain of luxury hotels that you can find basically in every major city in the world.

he had 3 younger sisters who he essentially raised considering his parents were too busy to be around during their childhood. only two of them are still living, his youngest sister having passed a couple years ago at the age of 7 from leukemia.

his mother is literally the devil? kai always hated school/struggled in it for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which were his not diagnosed adhd and his dyslexia, which he never got the help he probably needed for. he’s always kinda just thought he was extremely stupid, and that idea was reinforced by the way his mother always used to tell him the very same thing. “think harder, kai. use your brain.” is a phrase that’s essentially been reinforced so many times in his head, he p much hears her voice ringing in his ears every time he gets so much as vaguely confused now. 

that being said, despite how he struggled in school, he was always a very vibrant, kind, charismatic, and magnetic young person. he tends to draw people into him with his silly nature and upbeat attitude, and he’s kind of the Eternal Optimist, so he was fairly popular when he was attending. to say he has eccentricities would be putting it lightly, and he’s loud, never seeming to run out of things to say or fail to command the interest of the room.

anyway things with his mum only got worse in his relationship with her when he barely managed to complete his a levels by the skin of his teeth (and with an absurd amount of tutoring), and then refused to go to the university of her choosing. she p much wanted him to “get his shit together” so he could take over the family business someday, but i am not kidding when i say kai would wilt away and probably legit just die if he had to work in a place like that forever -- and that’s assuming he even got through business school in the first place. 

his father was always a push-over and sort of was absent/bent to her will when he was around, so he didn’t bother to defend kai when his mother decided 2 cut him off from everything and essentially ex-communicate him once she realised he was refusing 2 be manipulated and forced into shit anymore.

that was at age 18, and by that point he had plans to move out and travel to london with his best mate anyway, so he was basically like “peace out” and got the hell out of dodge. he still harbours a lot of guilt for abandoning his younger sisters, particularly so considering his youngest one fell ill so soon after his departure.

he lives, breathes, and sleeps piano. music as a whole is something he’s passionate about, having taken the time to develop his somewhat unorthodox voice, but the way his fingers fly over the ivories is a living art form more than it is anything. it’s how he communicates, how he speaks his deepest truth and just like? put those feelings out there into the world that he otherwise wouldn’t be able to articulate in the common vernacular.

so what he wants to do with his life is to just? talk to people? through his music? to play for them and the be in front of a crowd every night and to feel the energy of them, to command them with his presence and to exist with them in that way. he almost gets high off of it? he’s been playing small shows since age nineteen with his band, but since he moved to america he obvi hasn’t had them and has been on his own.

SORRY I’M REALLY TRYING TO CONDENSE THIS so ok basically he was in love w this girl from the time they were 14. they lost their virginity 2 each other, they were on & off all through HS, & then through to age 20 after he moved away and all that. she was v v ill and struggled with mental illness and kai tried his best 2 take care of her, but he was always in over his head despite his dedication to like making her feel OKAY. she needed help that he could not give 2 her, and they ended up breaking up & him letting her go at the end. she died soon after that, and it remains unclear 2 him whether or not it was a suicide. it was officially ruled as an “accident”, but he knows better.

after that he got involved with this boy who was a substance abuser, addicted to H to b exact, and for a while he thought that he was getting better and they were building off of each other, building a healthy life together. the fact he called kai his “new addiction” was probably never a good thing, but kai didn’t recognize that at the time. they got engaged eventually, and kai was 100% convinced that he was the actual love of his life after caro. of course, in the end, it wasn’t built to last, and when it went bad, it went really bad. kai eventually felt like there was a chasm several miles deep between them, and he had no hope of getting to the other side again. he broke it off.

kai has been posting vids on YT of him covering song on his YouTube for like actual years, and when he was around 21 he met this person via the comments section on one of them. they seemed to be quite the fan of his interpretation of some of the songs he chose to play. they ended up talking more and more as time went on, exchanging contact information, and grew very very very close.

that was the start of the LDR that is what brought him to america/to wilson in the first place. they were together for about eight months and had seen each other in person three times for a total of about 3 weeks before he made the decision to get started on his visa and move to the states. the moment he was able to, he crossed the pond and moved in w them!!

strain on their relationship was created when at first kai was unable to find work and contribute to the bills and the household funds. they lived in a tiny flat, and going from barely seeing each other to having each other all at once and all the time was a lot. within six months of his arrival, they broke up, and kai moved out.

he couch surfed w some friends he’d met 4 a while, and eventually found a decent paying job as a nanny for a well off family. he also plays the occasional smol show at the lantern when he can (!!!!)

he’s still working on getting his full citizenship though he’s v v v close 2 it & has been lowkey getting help from his cousin w paying for the process so!!
