I remember being on call with my friends on November 16th (watching the beginning of tommy's stream) desperately trying to explain how it wasnt him cause it literally didn't fit with his character

I don't even know why the community thought that?? My best guess is that hes a Schlatt fanboy and would betray everyone just to get on Schlatt's good side??

The line between canon and just the ccs fucking around on the dsmp was very blurred back then I dont think people understood ctommy's character like I did

The whole community had it out for him early days it was rough

Butterfly Reign: You know this one, it's the angst full and oddly yellow one. I always end up finding out it updated a day before it released how does that keep happening?. It's a good read, the characters get deeper the more you read it, and yet even with all their hidden lore and ok ish intentions I still want them to suffer because I'm a spiteful bitch. Unreliable narrator to you I believe him.

In the name of the fucking moon: Its a magical girls AU with the benchers and the family, more on the old school monster of the week type of magical girls but with continuity. If you imagine the scenes in your head while reading please add an 80's anime filter over it. Fun to read 👍 I got halfway through and I'm waiting for it to finish so I can binge it.

Guided evolution: Only read this if you have a lot of free time or the time management skills of a lawyer because this here is 300.000+ words and incredibly good. Every chapter I do nothing but worry for my spider son. Hasn't he been through enough I ask, while seeing I'm on chapter 52 out of 75. I know the answer, and it only serves to hurt me.

How to be the biggest trainer ever: Crimeboys go in a pokemon adventure. A very friendly fun read, like the pokemon anime but with your favourite white boys having fun 👍the world is set on gen 1 I think, so use that soundtrack

The stars and their children: Ive only read till chapter 5 and that's enough to know its good (also the fact that I follow the author here on tumblr so I get spoiled every once in a while hehe) This one is more sandduo focused and it has cool sci fi monarchy and it's also very near to end?? I didn't know that. Guess I'll get up to date then. Star tommy did nothing wrong I haven't seen him do much of anything but if he does in the other 19 chapters be aware he did nothing wrong

By the morrow: this one is weird and interesting in the most enticing way possible. What the fuck is going on. I must know all the reasons behind what is happening here. It can be quite macabre so be aware. I only found this one because the author posted the updates to tumblr. Oh yeah the synopsis, superhero au where the ctommy is a nobody who dies and fucks around the town in his ghost form but shit hits the fan incredibly quickly.

Who the ever loving fuck made me a prince: Its an Isekai yipee, our main boy (el ctommy) reads a book where a kid prince dies. L. Then he wakes up as that same kid!!! Oh no!!! Good news is he's reincarnated right in baby zone so he has plenty of time and skill to make sure won't die 👍, its fun, if you like isekais and don't mind some anime trope baby ism then you will live another day

Proof that life hates tommyinnit personally: This is a mystery!!! Spooky!! With touches of angst, perhaps more than some touches but hey the thrill!! The search!! I enjoy the use of the "it's not paranoia if they're really put to get you" tag. Its one of those fics that if it ever gets dropped I would go to the authors house to ask how was it supposed to end. I need. To know. Oh yeah summary: el ctommy is homeless and has many friends in a local mall who don't know that. This is only one (1) of his problems as he's recently gained a stalker, and everything points to being someone he knows ?? Question mark?? Fun.

TommyInnit's Declassified Vigilante Survival Guide: Ah a good old vigilante fic, just like mama used to make. it checks all the marks: benchtrio living together, villain sbi, when the family is founded, heroes yet bad?? and introducing a cool new power to the boy, what a joy! It is funny and it is cool

Our love it's like a burning sun: you've heard of racconinnit, birdinnit, ratinnit, cat shifter innit, possumi- hm I haven't heard that actually, anyways get ready for Red Panda innit, here's a red panda shifter who runs away from mean kingdom and goes to nice kingdom where he can find some family. And sometimes that's all you need to face the horrors

Thunder on my bones: ANOTHER superhero au listen man this one is good trust me. We have superhero boy being sidekick to mean superhero then gets moved to nice family of superheroes and the family is found :)) but also there's villains that want to fuck him up , uh oh! How will they found the family in this conditions! I also really like the design of the tommy superhero outfit, it has a really nice detail that I love imagining in my head ^^

maybe this is too hot of a take and maybe im not 100% correct on this but. while the role of misogyny cannot and should not go unstated in this phenomenon. one of the main reasons cnikis or really any of the less popular characters was widely not understood and reduced to one-dimensional archetypes was because engagement from people getting into the character was often met with hostility. if you talk too much about her friendship with cwilbur you're reducing her to an accessory. if you talk too much about her destructive moments you're reducing her to a girlboss. if you talk too much about her sweet moments you're reducing her to a caretaker role. if you write a fic or draw art that centers these things, you run the risk of people attacking you for poor characterization when you're only beginning to get into the character. duos, cool moments, and endearing traits are the kinds of things that propelled characters like tommy, tubbo, ranboo, wilbur, etc into having large fanbases, but talk about these things with niki or other less popular characters and suddenly there's a problem.

and moreover, while a good portion of the content from fans who did main her character and were knowledgeable about her was positive engagement about her design, funny moments, art and fanfics, etc. a lot of it was negative engagement fixated on stamping out all of these "bad tropes" from newer fans of the character, hellbent on making sure that cniki is always completely understood all the time. this made engaging with her character and fans very intimidating, because there was always this feeling that you have to be a fan of her "correctly." and most people seemed to not bother, say as little about her as possible (thus reducing her to a one-dimensional character), and go on posting about characters for whom content was more positive.

so before hating on people for posting in excitement about qniki interacting with qwilbur/tallulah, or joking about yuri, or taking down the federation/codes, or anything else youve decided is problematic, ask yourself if the best way to encourage people to be fans of female streamers is to police their every anticipatory thought and headcanon, or if it would be more productive to share clips, fanart, or hell. join in on the speculation.

as an aside, dsmp and adjacent mcyt communities have a long history of participating in creating a brand for creators. its helpful for bringing new people into the community to share cwilbur's villain monologues, or ctommy antagonizing cdream for fun, or ophil being a good dad to a character, etc. note that within these communities these characters are not thought of in these ways, but are expanded to three-dimensional people. getting upset at people for flanderizing your fav is often shooting yourself in the foot. "shes more than xyz" we know. but we cant post about every single aspect of her at all times. of course theres always fics where characterization suffers, but this happens no matter what. its better to share fics you like, so that people have a positive example to emulate, than to hate on a popular mischaracterization, which just makes authors scared to engage with that character.

please dont take anything i said out of context, im talking about a specific thing that happens with niki and countless other characters. and again, i dont doubt that misogyny contributes to a lot of this. literally all im saying is to let people have fun in slightly incorrect ways sometimes for the good of the ecosystem.

i think part of what draws me to the dsmp so much is the like .. semi official character designs

like i got into it because of fanart and fan animations, and ive always found it so interesting how we have like baseline designs and traits about these characters and then fanartists just go wild coming up with their own interpretations

and i love how after big story events or details drop, you see their designs evolve to reflect them. or even in big content droughts people come up with headcanons or add details that get picked up and popularized completely independent

i rarely made any fanart before i got into dsmp because i dont personally like translating a very solid/set design into my style, but i got so into making dsmp fanart because theres so much room for experimentaion and drawing what you want and i think thats always gonna be one of my favorite parts of being in this community

Cghostboo is literally two halves like floating around while his legs run around somewhere else. It was quite a shock for ctubbo the first time they met after saving Micheal_B to see only a single floating half of his husband.

Micheal_B hides things in his eye socket. Just it’s a good place to hide the jewelry he steals. He also like stealing gold. He’s a piglin after all

When cTommy got back from exile he hogged and stored food away. Often having it in his pockets. He also looked like he had aged seven years and he didn’t sleep well. Alone especially. He would constantly stand in the corners of rooms so he could see everyone and would jump/wince if someone caught him off guard. He still isn’t one hundred percent out of most of these habits.

Ctubbo has multiple toes. And on of his eyes glows. Because of an accidental toxic nuclear spill when he was building those nuclear weapons. He hides both his eyes because cjshlatt used to say that eyes are the window to the soul and he feels exposed when people can see them. Also doubles as a fashion style with his long bangs covering his face and hidig his burn scars. Also when cranboo was alive they didn’t need to worry about accidental eye contact.

Ctubbos burn scars are extensive and he used to wake up from nightmares about getting them. The eye on that side is only half functional and his ear is completely deaf.

CWilbur can’t see the color blue.

CTommy wears a blue sweater that he made for himself from friends wool as well as many patches on it given to him by Tubbo Ranboo and Niki.

Cdream always has had long hair and he’s very narcissistic about it. Constantly taking care of it but while in jail with the lack soap and hot water it has become sort of disgusting. Also it’s white. Result of revival book usage/exposure.

oh i actually think that's really fucking cool like. yeah that's really fucking cool. i had never heard an hc about like nuclear damage to his body before and i can't say i know much about the medical side of that aside from inherited complications but all in all yes. and i agree as well with the c!tubbo scarring

I'm still thinking about the design thing and, one of the reasons Tommy was so upset out of prison was because he just wanted go back to normal. The revival wiping the scars is such big change in his own body, a constant reminder that the revival did happened.

Oh absolutely! Also as fucked as the things that happened to him were, his scars were a reminder that he overcame and survived and moved on, so taking that from him.

Also obviously other people will notice and that'll just weird them out even more. Even if not for the reason that they only knew him with those scars or were there when he got some others etc. Can you imagine meeting someone who just has no scars? At all? Like he just started existing an hour ago? That sounds fucking unsettling, I'm not gonna trust someone with no scars.

And again. It'd just serve to alienate him from everyone including his own body. I personally have a scar that ive head since kindergarden. Its on my knee and it was just a normal smallish injury but i managed to land on it several times in the span of a few days, reopening it and stuff. Its a pretty big scar but i often just. Run my finger over it. Its been with me for years. If i one day woke up and it just wasnt there anymore id fucking lose it. Jfc.

Also. As a fan of those hc's like. That cTommys hearing is a bit worse after all the explosions hes been too close etc. I think itd be cool if him suddenly hearing stuff sharper than before wasnt just him being especially sensitive after the void but also just, having a new body with new ears.

Just all that stuff. All the angst. There's. SO MUCH POTENTIAL.
