#i wanted to visit chicago soooo bad as a kid just because of the american girl store there

In other news I picked up an audiobook at the library about American Girl and I have some mixed feelings about it -- the tone is a little too quippy for my tastes (the authors host a podcast of the same name as the book) and I think some things they bring up are stretches (like I'm not super concerned that an eight year old hosting a cooking bee and peeling potatoes with her friends because of Kirsten is heading down some kind of neocolonial pipeline) but they also do bring up some interesting points. Mostly, though, it's just making me really nostalgic. When I get a bigger place I'm going to take back my dolls from my mom's basement and get a big display case for them so they can be extra on display. I want to actually go and get more but they're so expensive and the discontinued ones would no doubt cost more, BUT I remembered they used to have mini-dolls and it looks like they still do! They're still expensive enough that I wouldn't buy them in one go but I think $25 a pop is more doable than $115 for a new doll, and they even have mini-dolls of some of the discontinued ones.
