But a lot of these books are REALLY IMPORTANT -- Jared Sexton, Heather Cox Richardson, stuff about how we really are facing a civil war coming, stuff about how shitty it is to be poor in America (not that I don't KNOW that shit),and then there's the books I just fucking WANT: the Wolf Hall books by Hilary Mantel, the Shigeru Mizuki Japanese history mangas, new copies of the Paks original trilogy and the expansion of the world as well (I didn't like those as much as the original Paks books, but I liked them well enough, and also Sergeant Stammel -- gods bless him), Gaiman's Norse Mythology and American Gods and Stardust and a new copy of the Graveyard Book, and the Chronicles of Prydain which I really do need to read, and then there's the James Clavell** books that I legit HAVE to have and the Tolkien, again, I have to have them because somehow I do not have copies of the big Four and the Silmarillion and yes I AM getting the illustrated Hobbit and the illustrated Silmarillion separately because ILLUSTRATIONS BY TOLKIEN, DAMMIT

(** Yes, I'm aware that Clavell's work is very problematic. That being said, my mother once told me, when learning that at the time I was reading Shogun and really liking it, that Shogun was the only book she ever saw my father, my actual father, read.

Now I know for a fact, solid and cold, that Daddy liked Stephen King. He read a lot of King after he and my mom divorced. He's who turned me into a Constant Reader -- okay given that I read Pet Sematary when I was eight at my grandma's house -- by giving me The Eyes of the Dragon when I was young; by handing me IT and Christine and The Shining and The Stand when I was older.

All that being said, there is something very special to me about reading and enjoying and loving books that my father read and loved. It makes me feel that we are still sharing, still reaching out to one another, beyond the Boundaries of Death's Country.

Not to mention, King Rat is....horribly problematic. Horribly so. Yet there is something in it that reaches to me. Here is greed, here is horror, here is the worst that man can be to man. Yet here is generosity, here is quiet stoic heroism, here is mercy, here is hope.

Clavell's work is problematic, yes. Lots of work is. But there is something to be learned from it. Do I think every work has something to be learned from? Not really. Some is just shit, and that's the honest truth. But some, we can learn something from.)

and FML I still need to find the complete Keltiad -- the Aeron books and the Arthur books, Blackmantle was a horrible revenge fantasy -- (And just for the record, I KNEW her, I KNEW Patricia, she invited me to her HOUSE if I were ever in NYC, she named me her War-Badger, I counted her as a FRIEND, I MOURNED her when she passed, and I STILL think Blackmantle was a HORRIBLE revenge fantasy) and the complete Belgariad along with Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress --

rose’s kpop update for may

ended up returning one of my FML albums because i got two of the same version from Targey- i didn’t realize the albums were going to be stored by version type and i didn’t want dupes (i could go into way too much detail about this part but tl;dr it was my mistake to assume the tech guys know anything about how kpop album versions work). i’m a little sad bc i got Fighting ver, which was my least fave concept, and there are NO more FML albums at my work. so fml for real lol i really wanted the pink album (forgor what it’s called). but i’ll live! 2 albums per comeback is my limit!! i won’t exceed it!!

i did buy a carat version since we had *checks my work device* 55 of this album version in the back, and the concept is soooooooooo good. i lov wedding concepts..and the pcs are so soft and dreamy....grips them tightly in my fist. i seriously wanted to buy a few more since we still have so many in stock, but like. i have to control myself. and there’s no point in buying more than one since there’s no way to tell which member’s album you’re getting. i got wonwoo’s album and that’s like, okay, i don’t know this guy from adam, but i got a woozi pc from the regular pcs SO!!! it’s a win!! my first bias pc......and he looks so cute......his butch lesbian wedding vibes lol sorry i can’t get over how cute he is

so since i returned one album i decided i’d preorder the g-idle album. unfortunately Targey doesn’t offer individual albums like B&N does, but they’re also like $7 cheaper per album (that’s before my discount, too!), so!!!!! since i like all the concepts for this comeback i’ll be happy with whatever i get. hope i get cat version because,,,, it’s cat...the concept pics for butterfly version fuck supremely though so like, if i get that one i’ll be fine too!!!��

B&N does have one advantage over Targey and it’s that they carry oneus albums SO.....since i like what i’ve seen for pygmalion........i’m probably gonna preorder it. i’m waiting until the last minute for this one though bc i need to see what my finances look like for the month first lol

New Hobby.

So today, all my preorders for the items I bought for my new hobby just came in.

Also, fyi, I was at my parents house and had to travel all the way to Liam's house to get those parcels. Problem was, I already reached the damn house before I realized I left Liam's house keys at my parents place. Fuck me. Had to drive back all the way to get the keys, then drove all the way back to Liam's place again. Fml.

Ok so I unpacked those items at my parents place. Both my brothers were the excited ones. Kept telling me to open them, and Adam even offered to help wear the clothes and accessories for one of the female figurine. I let him.

Oh and my new scratch cards just came in. Liam was like, can I have one pwease? Geez. I told him fine, take one.

Then my parents came down and saw my new toys. They were like, why are you still playing with dolls as an adult? Then they tried holding the figurines and were surprised that they were heavy and good in quality, and seamless. They expected it to be plastic like those Barbie dolls. I told them these are dolls for adults. It even has private parts, they're figurines. Adult toys.

My dad even went and grab the boobs and show my mom how real it looked. My mom on the other hand, was like, "don't you make those dolls do naughty stuff! You know ghosts could haunt dolls and they could reside in your dolls. It's not good to keep these things! It's a waste of money to buy toys like this, you're not a kid anymore, you should spend your money buying proper mature stuff."

I just kept quiet, just not wanting to argue my mom's ridiculous logic. She has an old people mindset that I cannot change. So it's best to just ignore them. Weird thing is, my mom then suddenly asked me what their name was. I felt awkward but I told her anyway.

I got so excited once both of my girls were all dressed up.

Fuck. They're both so fucking beautiful in their own way. It looks like my fucking characters came to life in physical form.

The first female figurine, she is The love interest and female heroin for my sequel. she is an assassin and does sketchy missions, so she wears black all the time, a color she got used to. But her hair is blonde because of genetics, and she refuses to dye her hair black just to prove to her dads (who are also assassins) that her hair color is not a handicap to her skills. I got tons of black outfits for her, bad ass ones, and two most bad asses ones are still on the way.

Meanwhile the other female.figurine, she's the heroin and love interest for my current novel. A lost princess who lost her voice due to rape trauma when she was a child. Soon ended up as a personal handmaiden to my protagonist and both fell in love with each other, then later became pregnant of future heir of the protagonist which will be an extremely important piece in my sequel and the following sequel after that.

Fuck, I did not regret buying these shit.

Oh by the way, I only manage to get 2 hours of sleep last night because I couldn't breathe from the sudden severe flu I got. At first I thought it was justu normal allergy reaction to dusts and cat furs. It's not the first time this happens. I'm prone to getting infected and having nose blocks.

But just now, Liam suddenly forward a news article saying that blocked nose and flu could actually be signs of getting infected by the delta variant of covid.

Fuck.

It shook me a little there, thinking I was gonna die, not gonna lie. But I already got my 2nd dose of vaccine and I've passed 2 weeks after my 2nd dose. Even if I get infected, I hope it's just mild symptoms and not gonna be anything serious.

But, I did suddenly have a mild asthma attack.

Normally I just think it's my allergic reaction to dusts and cat fur because that's usually how I get flu and nose blocked, which typically would lead to asthma attack due to the mucus from my flu

But now I'm suddenly paranoid if it's actually covid.

I knew I wasn't careful enough.

But they say covid would lose sense of smell.

I was a able to smell Adams new perfume today which just arrived. Does that means not infected?

I'm not taking any chances. I'm gonna go buy a self test kit for covid tomorrow at the pharmacy and check out if I'm positive.

Fuck I hope I'm not. Because I would have to report this to the government otherwise and might be taken away for quarantine.

Third day of the new year!

Went to hangout with ryan and leighton. They wanted to try marugame udon so!!! Also i saw adam but didnt say hi, oops. In any case. We were like hey let’s do something like walk around! But it rained a little so we bought some cuties from trader joe’s and ended up at ryan’s house and basically sat in his kotatsu for 4 hours then i came home. I also finally know how it feels like when the manga says that your legs get tangled inside the kotatsu. And when you literally cannot get out of it. Plus the feeling of losing the ability to walk because ya gurl tried to stand up after crawling out of the kotatsu and just fell back down What a day LOL

went to portland with alice to check out apartments!!! woot. lots of fun going around/looking at the city. landed on thursday night and waited at the airport for alice and ate mcdonalds/watched the office haha friday: alice had work all day ): so i went out to meet up with yuri and leslie who happened to be out in portland too! walked to the alberta arts district to eat with them at pok pok noi. just walked around afterwards exploring in the rain before getting back home to eat dinner with alice at like 8…lol we went to bamboo sushi in sw and alice treated me to omakase as a congrats on getting my new yob!! woot also did some walking around in the neighborhood - will likely spend quite a bit of time in the powell city of books! saturday: the day we actually went out to see properties! grabbed some blue star donuts and headed into nw district - looked at some apartments and then grabbed lunch at this cute italian place that i will most likely frequent. started talking to alice about stuff and being weak, i cried and then we got free hazelnut ice cream…LOL. it was really good sunday: since we toured places that i actually liked yesterday, we basically just decided to walk around different areas. waterfront park, pioneer square…we spent a while in nordstrom rack and sephora looking for stuff for alice! lol. then dinner again at bamboo sushi and dessert at salt & straw :> monday morning: waking up early to get to the airport for alice’s flight. bought more donuts at the airport for mom! then i sat at the airport watching the office and eating until the airplane ride where i got a whole row to myself~

and that was my portland trip shortened LOL. but~ excited about the new city, definitely excited about the donuts!

February 19th

My first day of work!! Went in earlies and had onboarding for about two hours with amother new hire. Then i returned to my room where i met my coworker and my manager! Both of whom are in the same room and we each have a desk. (Ima have to request a standing desk :O) anywayss. Got a company laptop - thank god it’s not bulky. And then i’ve got two monitors on my desk too! #bless

Then jlw went through more ux stuff with me and i also went to a stand up meeting. Like. Those are real man. Then went to company lunch! Where new hires introduce themselves and i realize that i have never used a dishwasher before and everyone was shookt lol.

Afterwards, i went to a sprint meeting AND BOIIIII PLANNING POKER DOE??? Lololol. I have to say i did not understand a single thing that was going on. Took about an hour and a half…

Anyways. went back in where jlw continued where she left off and then finally let me read some onboarding stuff on my own before she headed out at 4 and then me, leaving swiftly at 4 as well LOL

SO that was my first day! Trying to get everything in order - i hope that everything goes great and that i learn lots and lots! :> although…windows computer already killing me, no wonder people use mouses instead of the trackpad. Also…gotta learn Axure + in depth photoshop so…WOOT WOOT

lol.....gonna end this one on a somewhat sour note because that’s actually how the quarter ended. spring break was a week full of shit as well. however, it was also a week full of healing and self love - as much as i can give myself for that matter

so we’ll leave it here. last winter quarter of my college career - one of the most busy in terms of AB life and one for the books for all the shit that has happened. i really wish that #adversity won’t be associated with this forever but looks like it’ll be related to this for a while. lOL.
