Finished!
A lazy summer day by a stream~
I finally put my illustration degree into good use and made a proper traditional illustration (although still fanart 😅). Sometimes I really wanted to just "undo" some strokes or move some things around haha but man was this relaxing and satisfying to work on, also I am just so proud of the outcome. I haven't done a proper traditional illustration on this scale since my thesis so it's been a few years.

I took these photos with a phone outside to try and really capture the colors and details.

Another Amazing Kickstarter (Giant Geo-Circle Mural by Samuel J —Kickstarter) has been published on http://crowdmonsters.com/new-kickstarters/giant-geo-circle-mural-by-samuel-j-kickstarter/
A NEW KICKSTARTER IS LAUNCHED:
This project is about creating another massive Geo-Circle mural, (Geo-Circle is short for Geometric Circle. In return you’ll be able to get a Giclee Print of the finished piece!
These prints are strictly exclusive to this project on Kickstarter, so once the project is over it’ll be too late to get one!
Note: A ‘Giclee’ print is a high quality art print.
The first Geo-Circle mural I did, which you can see in the main photo, is about 1.5 metres square in size. At times I had to take a break because my arm would get so sore from holding it up to draw, especially if I was drawing above my head. It was very satisfying though, seeing such a large scale drawing progress to the point of completion. It’s still the biggest drawing I’ve ever done! This new one will be just as big or even bigger! It will be round in shape, with more detail included.
The time-lapse video I shot of the process, is still something that my followers find interesting to watch. If this project is fully funded, I will first be filming the process of designing the Geo-Circle on paper. Once that is complete I will use that to recreate the design on the wall, on a much larger scale! I will be filming that process as well as it’s the main project!
The paper version is what the prints will be made from, as it will be slightly more detailed, and I want your prints to be as detailed as possible! Then I will be trying to re-create the mural as accurately as I can. This way it will be as if your print is from the version on the wall!
If the funding goal is met it will also allow me to buy some studio lighting equipment to help brighten the space where I will be drawing. This will improve the quality of the time-lapse videos.
Here’s what will happen..
Once I’ve got some paint, I’ll give the wall a fresh coat of paint. Once that’s dry, I’ll give it a second coat. After the second coat I might have to wait a few days, possibly up to a week before the wall is ready to draw on. If I don’t wait long enough, the wall might still feel a bit sticky, which hinders the drawing process.
I’ll be using permanent markers for the mural, so I’ll need to stock up on these, getting various shapes and sizes. (I’ll go through quite a few in this project!)
I’ll order the studio lighting equipment as soon as I can so it’ll be here ready for me to start the project!
I will create the design on A2 Size, 220 Gsm Drawing Paper. The original is available as one of the rewards.
Like I mentioned earlier, I’ll be filming this stage of the project as well, so we’ll end up with two different time-lapse videos, one for the paper drawing & one for the mural!
I’ll have the drawing scanned. Then I’ll have to digitally clean up the design (removing any imperfections such as smudges or scan imperfections) whilst still making sure the prints are as close to the original as possible. The prints will be ordered and should arrive within a couple of weeks time, depending on the quantity that needs to be made. I already work with a very reliable printing company to produce my art prints, so I know there won’t be any problems having these ones made.
All prints will be printed on 308 Gsm Hahnemuhle Photo Rag. (I’ve attached some photo’s of my other artwork as these prints, down further for you to look at).
These prints are only able to be purchased as part of this Kickstarter campaign. Once the campaign is finished, they will not be available to buy.
This is the exciting/difficult part! Re-creating the drawing as close as possible on the wall. This is no small task. I’ll have to make sure everything is accurate and in proportion. Drawing vertically on a wall for hours on end will be a challenge. I learnt this while doing the last one. I’m up for it though!
I will be filming the process from the back (like in the video I showed you) as well as from other angles. I want to include some footage that shows me drawing in real time, so you can really get an idea of how long it takes!
I hope I’ve been able to explain everything clearly for you. If you have any questions let me know in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer them as soon as I can!
Here are a few photo’s I took of Giclee prints I had made of my artwork. (I apologise for the lack of photography skills by the way!)
I wanted to show you some examples of the quality and thickness of the Giclee prints. They are printed on the 308 Gsm Hahnemuhle Photo Rag, which is the same paper as what your prints will be.
First is my artwork called ‘Ancient Eye’. It’s a cropped version of my artwork called ‘Wise Owl’. The second artwork is ‘Golden Wolf’.

It’s important to note that this project is only possible if the funding is fully met. Basically it’s an all or nothing situation. I hope you want to be a part of this project with me, even if it’s just by sharing this with your friends and family.
You can do this by:
Sharing this project directly to your social media.
Following, liking and sharing posts from my Facebook and Instagram.
It might not sound like much, but sharing this project really will make a huge different, and I’ll sincerely appreciate any help you are willing to give!
You can also check out my website here.
I will do my best to complete this project well before August. I chose Augest as the finish date not only to make sure there’s enough time to do this properly, but also because I’d prefer to finish sooner for you all, rather than later!
Thanks for taking the time to read about my project and for your help!  Regards – Samuel
