my opinions on random “a starless clan” cats as i just finished river

thunderclan

-Nightheart: the angry mommy issues man himself. love him. this is probably the closest we’ll get to a trans character in warriors. also surprised no one mentioned Bristlefrost when he failed his assessments as i remember Bristlefrost failing at least once. they could’ve made a good connection there.

-Honeyfur: pretty design i think, got salty at twigbranch once and haven’t heard from her before or since. 

-Bayshine: a sweetie, good brother-ish figure for Nightheart in my opinion.

-Shellfur: never knew much of anything about him but yay he’s got a gf now. happy for him. 

-Bramblestar: just step down already man. (i know he does, i can’t wait till i get to it).

-Squirrelflight: can’t wait till i get to Squirrelstar!!

-Bumblestripe: a jerk as always.

-Finchlight: a lil too over enthusiastic about the “greatness” of thunderclan. really shows how arrogant they can be tbh.

-Ivypool: wish i heard more from her.

-Fernsong: i wish we saw more of Fernsong with Ivypool. or any Fernsong at all tbh.

-Sparkpelt: i’m not really sure how to feel about her and her relationship with Nightheart. it’s definitely interesting though and something new.

-Cloudtail: him as an elder is amazing.

shadowclan 

-Berryheart: Spireclaw’s relationship with her hits too close to home. all i gotta say. also (proceeds to say more anyway) totally Mother Gothel-coded, there’s a pmv of her with “Mother Knows Best” that fits so well. “i’m your mother, and i know you better than you know yourself” (226).

-Sparrowtail: i kinda like how he sorta initially was on Berryheart’s side but now he’s really uncertain about her beliefs. interesting in seeing more about this relationship.

-Spireclaw: love him!! a sweetie! wanna see more of him and Fringewhisker. also interested in the tension with him and Berryheart over this. lowkey kin him.

-Dovewing: she’s not deputy, but i see her as sort of like a clan “princess”, y’know?

-Sunbeam: relate to her a lil, also i think she has the cutest name ever. at first i thought her unrequited crush on Blazefire felt like a repeat of Bristlefrost and Stemleaf but at least Stemleaf was nice. Blazefire was straight up gaslighting her about being concerning about Lightleap “pffft she’s fine bro you’re not the clan leader” aughhh

-Blazefire: this is why you don’t do friends with benefits guys.

-Lightleap: augh she’s so terrible but i love her at the same time. i love how a protagonist’s sibling can finally be explored upon with how the previous events from the broken code affect her psychologically. doing a psychoanalysis on her hehe.

-Gullswoop: haha just a gal who loves gossip. glad a she-cat background character can actually have a personality now. 

-Pouncestep: wish we heard more from her tbh. there’s shadowsight obviously and now the whole lightleap thing but we don’t know much about Pouncestep or how things have affected her. she’s just kinda.. there.

-Leafstar: please just let her rest. i’m begging. 

-Hawkwing: i want him to be leader already, i feel like he would be a good leader with all the character development he’s had in his super edition.

-Fidgetflake: his name is so cute i love him. don’t hear from him at all though really, i just like his name.

-Uhhhh that’s about all the skyclan cats we hear from.

-Hootwhisker: bro really just yeeted himself over a stream into thunderclan territory for a vole.

-Crouchfoot: i know absolutely nothing about him but i just thought that’s a kinda funny name. 

-Songleap: what.. is a.. song ..leap..?? how do songs…. you know what, nevermind. 

-Fernstripe: with her and Fringewhisker, and also Dovewing from before, i’m really noticing a trend with typically she-cats leaving their clans for toms. not sure how i feel about that.

-Splashtail: a nefarious lil guy from what i’ve heard? very interested to see more of him, he reminds me a lot of Hawkfrost. i also have a suspicion that he faked the curled feather sign on page 215. i mean, Frostpaw went with just Splashtail and she heard someone walking around above the moonpool then finds the feather on the path. is it a fake sign did bro just pull a Hawkfrost. —or what if the sign was real but meant for Icewing, as it was a white feather, and that night Frostpaw dreamed about the feathers turning into “birds, whirling around her head like a blizzard” (219).

-Owlnose: just a silly lil guy.

-Mistystar: was arguing and literally fell and died. best death ever. rip the queen. 

-Duskfur: still mad at her over Mistystar’s death tbh. 

-Reedwhisker: poor man. all i gotta say. 

-Havenpelt: i just like her name. 

-Mothwing: if anything happens to her, Blixemi is gonna lose it. 

-Icewing: haha Wings of Fire name. 

-Curlfeather: such a pretty name tbh. she seemed so sweet but i heard she’s actually evil? interested to learn more in the next books. it may make sense, she seemed a little overbearing at times, maybe a cover? also Curlfeather suggesting Frostpaw goes to her den and Frostpaw immediately finding the 5-pointed dock leaf sign there (124-125) is kinda suspicious, i feel like she might’ve faked a sign.

-Jayclaw: died of “unknown causes” is a lil suspicious. right after Curlfeather mentions his death, the book says “a heartbeat later Curlfeather went on more briskly-” (18) and she changes the topic. i’m wondering if Curlfeather killed him after maybe he disagreed with her evil plans? could’ve pulled a Hollyleaf and killed him to keep him mute.

-Frostpaw: poor lil fluffy kid is traumatized, i just wanna give her a big hug.

-overall, this book was amazing and so far i might like this arc even better than the broken code, we’ll have to see

So many Taskmaster bits could be Sekai interactions, but in particular I feel like Rui (and maybe Emu and Tsukasa) is capable of doing some of what Mike Wozniak did (first thing to come to mind is undermining a vole for some reason).

HOLY SHIT TASKMASTER WATCHER IN THE WILD!! I only started watching recently after years of one of me mates begging me and I'm only just now watching series 9 so I looked up some of mike wozniak's stuff LIKE YEAH UNDERMINING THE VOLE IS SUCH A WXS THING I COULD SEE THAT HAPPENING (if we wanna talk AUs as well Torpe can talk to animals iirc wait I should draw that)

The rosalind song task is what happens if you split the kamikou kids into two groups and those two groups are VBS (canonically can write good music) and everyone else. Toya puts together an actually good song and Akito an An help out and then you end up with I'm always seeing you (do cool stuff) and then the other 5 don't write music and you end up with the 5 of them just singing "Rosalind's a FUCKING nightmare" (actually Tsukasa can probably write music considering years of piano lessons but also he's the only character to say fuck in english so he goes here). also like. bob mortimer's genuine insane energy i think can only be matched by one rui kamishiro.

honestly if you were to force everyone in prsk to do taskmaster i think airi would be a god at it considering her experience with variety shows that's just my silly little thought. i wanna say with her kind of short temper she could be like a nish kumar or iain stirling contestant. also airi should be allowed to say fuck. nish kumar losing the light the candle in the caravan task because he shouted BUBBLY FUCK. that's airi. to me.

also jessica knappett falling off the stage is a moment that sticks out to me i think about it so often it's so minori as well like early game minori. she did that in one of her idol auditions probably aged like 13.

hiii, long time no see! i wanna get back into working on this blog, so here's the first request kitty! Volewhisper!

i based him heavily off his sister, Dawncloud! her eyes are blue with a little yellow in them, and Vole's are yellow with a bit of blue! i'm not rly sold on the lighter flecks for him, but i added em anyway.

drawing so much Scooby Doo stuff lately has left me really enjoying adding stubble to characters lol. i think it looks cute, and honestly suits Volewhisper well.

i rly liked this guy in Exile from Shadowclan. him and Nightstar's relationship was very cute. i wonder what happened to him. Blackstar still assumes he's dead at his warrior ceremony, so presumably Vole left Shadowclan or died before Blackstart had rejoined? i like to think the former honestly.

unrelated, i kinda like the hc that Featherstorm also had an affair, and that Vole and Dawn aren't Blizzardwing's (with Mosspaw being Blizzard's). i just like ridiculous relationship drama in wc, and there was no shortage of that in this era of shadowclan lmaoo

i ate an m&ms cookie today. it was good. outside it was unseasonably warm, windy, and sunny. i took a nap half in the sun, half in the shade.

yesterday I went on a walk in the park and saw a bunch of deer. they were super chill. there was one just standing in the path and only moved when I got closer. I also saw a few birdwatchers, and asked one to identify the crane I was looking at. there were two sandhill cranes in the water.

but by far my favorite thing I saw yesterday was the muskrat swimming in a marsh. he was hanging out with a few ducks and swam so smoothly, before going underwater to hide. I got excited when I saw it and approached too quickly, so the little guy was spooked. Oops.

That's my somewhat mundane story (although I was super stoked about all the wildlife I saw, i dunno if you're interested in that. I do have pictures of some of them if you wanna see.)

so does anyone else suffer from this dilemma where you love cats, right, but, you also love birds, mice, rats, voles, tiny adorable animals of all sorts, and you know, that if you have a cat in your home, all those other tiny animals will get eaten, or have to keep away, and like maybe that’s good thing because some of them are considered pests in certain circumstances but ultimately you don’t care because you love the adorable babies and you’re not scared they’re gonna eat all of your seeds or give you diseases you just wanna see a lil guy run around your place sometimes or nest outside your house, and you wanna cuddle a cat too, but if you have a cat, it will need to eat meat on a regular basis, or it will get sick and malnourished, and then in order to keep your cat healthy and alive, other animals must die, and if you’re a vegan there’s just no way to make peace with it, and you can’t decide what you exact stance on cats is because they are absolutely irresistible but they also absolutely will kill every other tiny animal you love and make your home hostile for birds and you likely have to keep the cat strictly inside your house to protect both the environment and them from the environment because cats get hurt and killed outside, but then you have to conclude that cats are ultimately bad for the ecological landscape but you LOVE them also and you ultimately figure out okay! i can’t have a cat, it’s irresponsible, unsustainable, ecologically bad, but then, what if a little cat comes to you looking for shelter??? when you’re out in the wild growing your food forest?? and a little kitty cat meows at you hungrily?? how do you stick to your morals??? what do you dO?

I'm going to ramble a bit about what I was thinking when I made this one and the first one (which I added a few things to match the new one :] it's right at the start if you wanna see)

Anyway, the first pin board was less about who Dream was and more about who she wanted to be, this Dream version of her. That's why the stuff in it is so dreamy (ha), it's a lot of princess dresses and cheerleaders and paintings and fairy tale vibes. It's pretty and sweet but it's not real (sadly :[)

(That's also why there are no eyes in the first pin board!)

On the second one I tried to make it more grounded? Because now Dream is that girl, so 8 tried to avoid any pictures that would crop out the eyes

(I also struggled to find a lot of pictures because most of them either have their face cropped out or are staring at you like 👁👄👁 and it felt really awkward)

Quite a few pins are also about Sapnap's love for Dream! Particularly a few quote ones that talk about love :) and I added a bunch on voles because you are 100% correct that's sapnap right there

Also, lots of sunflowers!! Dream feels very golden to me as she gets older, she's blossoming onto herself and becoming stronger and glowing in a way that is so natural to her :]

how much did canary's death change mariner? i imagine that he's mentally struggling with that aspect even in the current story, but his whole attitude and way of interacting with others makes it hard to tell.

also for a lighter question; what is everyone's favorite prey? is there anyone who particularly enjoys hunting?

YEAH i generally consider "production" the actual creation of the pages, while everything before that (including scripting) as pre-production. Currently there's only 6 pages done, the cover isn't done, and I might slap a tw page as well because it's kind of a lot. but i'm up to chapter 8 on the first draft of this thing. i'm pretty satisfied with chapter 1, which is why i decided i deserve a treat and started making the pages (I think i did something similar with COB before it started becoming public)

ANYWAY i'm gonna do the prey question first cause I can see myself rambling about the Mariner one.

and Warbler likes hunting the most! It was her favorite passtime before she was orphaned and she was very good at it! She's still trying to relearn her skills after becoming half-blind, half-deaf, and the loss of a fair amount of teeth. She's frustrated but she's determined to figure it out!

and now or the Mariner question, short answer is it changed him a lot, a lot more than he likes to think it has. longer answer is below the cut because i don't wanna put a massive post onto people's timelines lol

The longer answer is that he may wax poetic about life and how everything has to come to an end, but he's just not over Canary's death. His general calm disposition, lack of emotions, and strange way of speaking are all things he puts up to seem unbothered (and also not having much social interaction much of his life).

At the start of the story, Canary has maybe been dead for like, maximum a month. It is still entirely a fresh wound for him. and now he's been given his mate's killer to basically do whatever he wants to, and Lain has to go along with it (this isn't even touching on lain's already super submissive and obedient nature). And Mariner just, in all honesty, becomes much crueler being given this power.

Mariner multiple times throughout the story says that he doesn't like hurting people. Which he does genuinely believe with his whole heart and he almost never hurts someone physically himself in the story. He thinks it's barbaric and cruel to do that to another person, and it's different than killing prey because that's a necessity (He doesn't particularly like hanging out with Condor for his enjoyment of inflicting pain)

However, when he's confronted with the fact that he does cause pain to Lain, not just physical, he immediately grasps for an excuse.

and in his own mind, he can justify it by saying that Lain killed Canary, so messing with him in the head isn't nearly as bad as what Lain did to him, but when he has to say that out loud, he's forced to put into words that he IS still hurting someone in some way, that he IS being cruel for no reason but he wants to, and he doesn't like that. He doesn't like going against morals he's built up his whole life.

But he continues to do so because even though he says he hates it, it feels good to him to let his frustration and anger out on someone who has to take it. Who doesn't get a choice to not. He can do whatever he wants to Lain and Lain has to say "yes sir" to it.

He can hurt him, he can be nice to him, he can even try to pretend lain is Canary again when they lay down to sleep, but it's always Mariner's call. But the moment it's reflected back to him that he might, in some way, be enjoying this, he justifies it in any way he can think of. And he only really gets worse as the story continues as he realizes more and more how badly Lain NEEDS someone to tell him what to do and how to act.

Mariner's like super interesting and not a good person at all but I love him. The way his brain works is so much fun to write and especially paired with another fucked up brain guy like Lain it's a match made in hell.

The official action figure of Quark includes the little alien creature he was petting Godfather-style in the episode where he's Grand Nagus for a day! Where did that thing come from? What was it?

I wanna see more of that thing! I want Nog to complain about having to repair the autoscooper for its litter box, I want it to learn how to use the replicator and order itself so many tube grubs it causes a power drain that O'Brien has to track down, I want it to knock over a drink and destroy a padd with important contracts on it and Quark almost gets sued but then he spins the whole problem into an ad for a breeding program for fucked-up little alien creatures!

Also, Keiko definitely has some kind of Little Shop of Horrors shit going on, carnivourous plants from across the quadrant, and she puts them all over the station to help control the Cardassian vole problem. She does not understand why people are upset to see some fuck-off massive plant hork down a vole the size of their forearm right next to the promenade.

two kinda wild facts i wanna share involving bingo

1: why did i name them bingo? it wasn't my initial idea and wanted a different name. as i was drawing them, i was watching an obscure educational doraemon special that was supposed to teach japanese kids basic english. it was lost media for a long time but was resurfaced at the time. the final song at the end was bingo and due to my fried brain not thinking of any other suitable name, i just wrote down bingo as a placeholder to hopefully find a new name then. WELL I DIDN'T AS YOU CAN SEE since i grew attached to the name overtime. thanks doraemon lost media.

2: why is bingo a yellow pup now than brown? well ngl i always wanted to make him yellow but my ratty at the time was a skinny yellow and because i didn't want them to have a similar color palette, i made bingo a generic brown spotted dog not resembling any breeds. but now because my ratty is fat and brown so he would look like an actual water vole, i made bingo a gold retriever like i initially wanted.
