ILL BE REAL I DIDNT PUT MUCH THOUGHT INTO A REASONABLE BACK STORY but bcuz shes a self insert i had to make a mention for my bestie who can EASILY be in the pressure universe fr <3

Pre-lockdown: I think itd be unique that if Sebastian was used to give humans gills then Phanny can be used to find immortality cuz who doesnt love when a corrupt corporate entity tries to find the cure for death, happens all the time lol. I say for the important parts shes fused with an immortal jellyfish, my favorite jelly which im extreme jelly of 😼😼😼😼, and i would say that its possible that she could live forever IN THEORY with the dna of that jelly but that would have to be tested lmaooo.

I believe because shes also able bodied (mostly) she would be given similar jobs as Sebastian so shes not depressed, rotting, or lashing out. Not sure if they'd work together but she's observant and being a psychologist, she def psychoanalyzing the hell outta everybody in the facility out of boredom. She seems happy but ofc its a coping mech to make the best out of the absolute horrors around her, still emotional unstable and freaks tf out frequently. Once Sebastian frees everybody, she's free to roam and sees what Sebastian is doing. She asks to assist him in his goal but she only plays a part once Seb handles BIDNESS on land during lockdown. Post lockdown she scavenges for data and whatever here and there but shes mostly left alone or out of most of his operation, yk,,,working with Mr Lopee and all. She really tries to get close with Sebastian (despite emphasizing hes a married man, YEAH SURE BUDDY YOU'RE LIKE 32, WHATEVER MAKES U FEEL BETTER💀) and being the drama fiend i am, i think having a "moment of weakness" would lead to their complex semi romantic possibly toxic dynamic.

Fight: And as i did my research its highly debatable if Sebastian is telling pAInter the truth about getting them both out. Phanny would believe this without question cuz if he can make a plan and has all these skills and resources, he should be able to take everyone (this also includes other peoples inserts and ocs who are experiments because it makes the setting more lively and interesting). I even thought of a cool ass line my homie thought was cold asf for argument dialogue between Phanny and Seb about taking everyone back up to the surface.

Just to summarize: Phanny mentions how noble Seb is after making progress with his escape plan, assuming that he'll take at least as many people as possible including Phanny. Sebastian at this point is already trying to push her away post weakness moment and he know damn well he's just doing this for himself and never accounted to leave w/ a whole damn facility of sentient experiments. He just wanna see his mom again and hes already working in private with Mr Lopee i mean this is a one man escape plan. This ofc shatters Phanny cuz from what hes saying, nobody and he mean NOBODY is getting out of here with him. Hes not a savior and hes not responsible for people he dont even know or fuck with like tf?? And Phannys like OKAY? Nobody's asking you to be JESUS but can you at least be Moses?? Free us so we can all get justice! Explain why you can't take a handful and come back once u take this damn company down?? What about your promise to pAInter? To ME.

Ofc it ends in a big brawl, think Mark getting his shit rocked by his own dad (Omniman from invincible) and they just have this heartbreaking dialogue and they split ways.

Post fight + breakdown: After this, Phanny is basically losing it. I even have a vision for this if it was actually in game and she was an actual character with weight to the gameplay. Like crying and wailing in the vents and pipes, shit breaking, Phanny not being seen for a majority of the game until shes physically stopping u from going through doors and rushing the player. Not to kill them, she loves the expendables and protects them but if she really has to if it means Sebastian can get out/she gets to see another day then...

Plus i drew what that would look like in my last post where shes just standing in the dark in the corner blocking the door. Even if shes not blocking the door she's obviously going through something and can't be interacted with, she just follows the player with her eyes and breathes heavily. If its not that then shes crying by the the water and interacting with her gets the player a DEVIOUS side eye or no response.

Pre-breakdown + if she were actually in the game: I can't really explain why she would help the expendables WITHOUT knowing removing the crystal will indirectly end their lives, i actually havent evaluated that yet but shes friendly to expendables, takes free trade in exchange for shiny objects, and can be seen hanging out with or talking to Sebastian, or passing by in the water/halls. She's capable of killing the player entirely by accident due to her tentacles hanging from the ceiling which she chills in and dying to her makes her scream or apologize (before Sebastian says something snarky) since shes strictly against killing and never willing.

Announcing ur presence helps her know shes in the way. Typical interactive npc shenanigans. Maybe even saving expendables from certain attacks but these are rare interactions in the game. She's overall friendly and if she were real, she'd prolly be a fandom fave (ofc not on Sebastian's level, LETS BE HUMBLE YALL😭) because shes so polite and her tragedy comes near the end where the player isnt even aware of how she became hostile in just a few hours of the run. Her story would hardly happen in game and itd be one of those things a creator would have to mention outside of their game for fans to know abt yk?

Its typical for creators to just drop the craziest lore ever about a character but they're purposefully vague or literally like oh yeah time constraints so we scrapped it lol.

Babs! We need a fic where older Ponyboy (maybe 18, gonna turn 18, let's just make him 18 for now) is in his senior spring break and honestly had no plans. Curly finds him, tells him he's going back to Haiti to see family and invites him along.

Nothing dramatic, just two excited boyfriends going to one of their home countries, Ponyboy gets to hear new languages, see new sights (he loves laying on the white beaches with Curly, listening to the ocean. They usually say nothing during that time--they don't need to) eat new food and of course meet more Shepard family. They're just as wild as the ones he knows in America, but there's such a sense of love and belonging in that home. They instantly love Ponyboy (there's just something about this white boy that ain't threatening.) They already call him names Ponyboy tells himself are just casual endearing ones. (No they've already adopted him, he's their token white boy) Pony wants to compare Haiti to his home, and it's sort of like that, but in it's own unique way.

Also, he learns of Curly's government name. The second he heard it, he felt Curly stiffen as an auntie came over and kissed both his cheeks and spoke about hos tall he was getting. Ponyboy could pratically feel the rage rattling around in Curly's body.

......Curly has a french name. That's why he hates it so much.

Curly gets another tattoo and re pierces his ear, and Ponyboy get his first tattoo, a small thing on his ankle or on his back (someplace he can hide it from Darry till he's 18 and can run away legally). Ponyboy and Curly walking in the streets at dusk to witness the prettiest sunset Ponyboy has ever seen, sitting on the rooftop balcony smoking weed.

It's the greatest memories they'll ever share with each other.

Pony gets into Harvard with his essay he wrote about his time as a 14 year old and how he grew to love himself with the help of a tough as nails greaser who took him to Haiti.

a friend whose literary taste i trust lent me geek love a few weeks ago so i want to read it before the semester break ends so i can give it back to her! might be my first read of the year :)

i've been into books from/set in medieval times recently :) i read some middle german/middle dutch arthuriana this year to keep up my language skills and i really enjoyed them, so when i stumbled across this book at the secondhand bookstore i knew i had to buy it! very charming edition and there were two old polaroids inside, always fun to find little treasures of the previous owners

Musil has been kicking my ass since.... um. september oopsie. i read parts of it for a seminar and i despaired because it really resonated with me and i knew i had to read it but its such a brick! tiny font as well. i will persevere! I do enjoy it but its not exactly light reading haha

i really love A Spy in the House of Love and enjoyed Delta of Venus as well, and her diaries were included in the collection of erotic books i bought off a former art professor (as one does) so i think i'd like to give them a read this year. reading diaries or journals is always a bit strange to me (so personal! although authors do tend to think about publication i wager) but very interesting as well

quite a few of Fleur Jaeggy's books were freshly translated into german this summer and i havent gotten around to reading this short story collection just yet. She's definitely one of my favourite authors! originally in italian but i think at least her novel was translated into english as well.

game of kings im currently reading and making good way on it but i def want to finish it so i can get around to geek love and the once and future king. this is really a stand-in for the rest of the lymond chronicles which i think will be my for-fun reads for the next time. its good fun! i enjoy authors who are meticulous researchers and very well-read

along with Jaeggy part of my efforts to read more swiss/german literature. i read so much english! i do quite like getting recs for reading from blogs and the like, and i dont really know any for german lit apart from actual literature magazines. maybe something to look into this year!

wuthering heights what can i say its a gap in my education. i wanna read it in autumn 🍂🏰

and a manga because im not pretending to be a total literature snob (only a bit of course) ive been into shoujo manga from the 70s and the poe clan has been on my list for a bit — i love vampires! and ive been looking through the scans of the gothic and lolita bible for book recs and this one featured a few times! i got so many good manga/comic recs from there: meat cake by dame darcy turned into an instant favourite and funeral procession of k by maki kusumoto likewise

this is getting me excited for the new year :) lets see if i do read all of these ^^

okay wow well its been well over two years since i updated this 'diary' blog lol

so weird seeing all those old posts about being a teenager with existential thoughts lol i dont really think like that anymore, at least not so much. i guess an update is in order then lmao okay so im in my 3rd year of uni now and im doing my year abroad! doing it in a small city in spain and i really quite like my job, ive only got 14hrs, i have a 3 day weekend, the city is small so i can walk everywhere and this job really gives me a sense of purpose that ive been missing in my life. makes me really realise that university is NOT for me lmfao i was so depressed during my second year i probs went to like 20% of my classes loool. im pretty sure i mightve almost failed aswell but since the professors were doing a marking boycott they released grades without marking the final exam and so since i was already doing well enough in all my classes i passed! quite lucky i think cos i wouldve been so entirely embarrassed and ashamed if i had to repeat a year cos of mental health. i think things are better here tho my issues havent disappeard completely like eg i have these evening classes 6-7.40pm tuesdays and thursdays and for the past like month i havent attended :/ at first it was cos i was sick (i think it was covid lol either from glasgow or on the plane back idk) and then i just didnt go back to class. i think my main excuse is that that is dinner time for me and i dont wanna move dinner time lol. but also i think the class itself is just not for me i dont feel like i learn a whoooole lot while im there and learning on apps is easier for me? but i always felt better for going to the classes cos i was like ha! im not depressed would a depressed person do this!? but of course depression doesnt work like that and i think i need medicated ! but that seems too scary to say. but at least i found someone to do a language exchange with! ive only had one hour with her in spanish, which was yesterday, but i already feel like ive improved lmaooo like i literally dreamt last night in a mix of spanish and english ahahahah cos when i think about it i literally have not ever regularly spoken spanish, ive only really spoken for activies in class or speaking exams so no wonder i have 0000 confidence in my speaking abilities but im hopeful that this will really improve my speaking :) about my job i guess- i work in a high school and i really enjoy interacting with the kids they really do make every day different and more interesting so i am grateful for them but sometimes damnnn sometimes i wanna jump out the window especially with this third year class they are the class KNOWN for being a bitof a pain lol and sometimes i have to lead the class by myself lmaooo mid u ik im 20 but i dont look it and they certainly dont treat me like an adult or a teacher and ngl they are a bit disrespectful at times but also what are u gonna do they are 14 and i have no proper teaching experience to help them by myself i can only hope that im actuallt helping them learn english lol. it is quite difficult tho with my scottish accent to try and sound as clear as possible because i pronounce almost 100% of the vowel sounds differently than rp english which is what i think they are used to so i have to realllyyyy annunciate all my words and man is it tiring lol.

what else. im going to madrid this weekend with bestie and im really looking forward to having a relaxing and fun time but i still havent packed my bags looooooool i alwyas do this tho and its fine not a big deal at all but i def need to do it tonight cos im leaving tomorrow immediately after work so ill have to have an actual breakfast and take snacks with me. im really enjoying my time in spain or at least im trying to but i feel like i have pushed myself enough out my comfort zone to be able to look back on this and say yeah i really took advantage of that. like i think i need to be more personable (is that a word yes it is i used it right) in teaching and be more interactive with them and stuff also i feel like i shoulve arranged a language exchange sooner cos i think this will really help, and i need to interact more with the other assistant but the thing is is im just not a sociable personnnnnnn aghgh. any way cutting this short cos i need to pack my bags for my trupppppp

Ni-ki :) cuz he was going popular that time plus he's the first member i noticed and till now he is my ult bias.Like i couldn't just take my eyes off him so he has all my attention✨😌.His amazing dancing skills and his deep voice are the main things that attracted me and ofc his looks too.

PARK JONGSEONG😭cuz im obsessed with guitars and he plays guitar so yeah,then he's a literal whole green forest.AND HIS RASPY VOICE WHILE SPEAKING IN ENGLISH DURING THE LIVES?!?!? i def didnt know he had a raspy voice like he had been hiding it all from us but then suddenly decided to just go with during lives😭😭for me even the accent doesn't matter the most the voice does😞.

When did you first discover the group?

In 2022 November,i usually start staning groups late but in just a short amount of time i get to know almost everything about them cuz im so invested and suddenly they become my ult grp.I actually wanted to transform my younger cousin to a kpop stan too plus he only likes to watch boy grps but i didnt stan any boy grp that time but i just started showing him txt,stray kids and enhypen.At first i wasnt really interested in any of them but then i started liking their songs and especially enha cuz their storyline and the concept is just perfect for me to stan.I like vamp concepts and ik im weird but i like blood.So i took a liking for enha and it slowly developed in me having a huge interest and boom enha became my ult group.

Nope and i dont think its gonna happen any soon or in future too even tho i badly want to go to their concerts😭 but prolly if i go to their concert i would be regretting not doing some specific things or whatsoever.I literally regret doing something at the opportunity and trust me i almost regret doing every little single thing thinking like if i had taken a better chance it would have been far better so yeah *sighs* but that doesnt mean i am nit determined to go to one of their concerts.

you see, i was watching the pv for secrets of the tomb and goddammit vyn is just TOO PRETTY. he aint handsome in that pv. hes goddamn BEAUTIFUL, the man's even prettier than rosa herself. and then theres marius. of course, marius—the king, the pharaoh, whatever he may be, hes def powerful.

in the pv, artem looks like hes a legal consultant or smth, and luke still working undercover, while vyn... vyn looks like hes the king's frickin favorite. relaxing here and there, in the waters, looking so damn fine in under the evening sky.

so what if marius is indeed the king/pharaoh, and vyn is his... consort? his beloved, his concubine, his lover, the list goes on. and vyn is HIS FAVORITE. spoils him here and there and treats him well, except when theyre in the sheets, of course. and marius goes home after a long day of work and sees the love of his life and they just frickin drive themselves to oblivion.

I'm writing this as if this is a sequel to Chiaroscuro (Pt 01 | Pt 02 | Pt 03)

Why is it that whenever I try to make them kiss Marius and Vyn always turn out to be emotionally stunted fuckwads?

"You should concentrate on your assigned literature, Marius." Vyn murmured, his lips still hovering over the rim of his teacup. "Do let me know if you find reading here in my garden too distracting for you." He takes a small sip of his English breakfast before setting the teacup back onto the saucer.

Marius did not hide the fact that he was following Vyn's every movement closely. His amethyst eyes observed how Vyn's fingers held the handle; how his lips met the ceramic rim; how Vyn's eyelids lowered slightly as he sipped, as if ruminating on how the tea tasted.

Every movement, small and grand, did not escape Marius's eyes. All were captured for his future reference, for his next opus.

It just so happened that Vyn, in his eyes, was a veritable work of art, in and of himself. From the older man's exotic appearance--hair of moonlight silver and eyes of honeyed amber gold--to how he moved ever so elegantly, with nuance yet with unmistakable masculine strength when required (Marius was quite literally floored, once); his dulcet, gentle voice that could effortlessly draw blood upon command...

Needless to say, Marius was smitten over his muse.

"The garden isn't what's distracting me, Vyn," Marius said; all learned etiquette flying out the window with his elbow on the iron wrought outdoor table and chin on hand. "It's you."

Marius closed his thick, aged textbook with a thud and moved to the seat next to his private tutor. "I can't get enough of you, Vyn," he whispered. "Even the way you drink tea is totally distracting."

His hand crept up to Vyn's thigh. "God, you're just a walking work of art," Marius murmured before leaning forward for a slow kiss.

His dark bangs mingled with Vyn's silver wisps, their hands furtively seeking each other's bodies as their lips locked ever so sensuously; the very picture of what should never, ever happen in a teacher-student relationship.

When Marius surfaced from the kiss, he saw a glimpse of Vyn's face with glasses askew; his amber-gold eyes still half-closed, obscured by his long silver lashes. His tutor's lips were still ever-so-slightly puckered, glistening wet with their mixed saliva.

The beautiful sight triggered something in him, prompting Marius to roughly pull Vyn into his arms and, once again, claim his tutor's lips with his needy own.

"Mm--" Vyn groaned, his mouth filled with Marius's tongue. He tried struggling, hands now on Marius's chests trying to push himself away.

Marius eventually finally let go of him, a thin thread of saliva connecting their lips as he pulled away until it broke from tension. "Just what I needed," he said as he licked his lips.

Vyn sighed as he fished his microfiber cloth out of the pocket of his white coat. "Do be thankful that I am bumping up your grades ever so slightly, Marius, gifted student that you are," he said as he took off his eyeglasses to wipe the lenses. "But if this keeps on going and you do not show any improvement, I will have to reconsider taking you under my wing for the next semester."

"You and I very well know that my grades won't ever be a problem," Marius grinned. "You're totally out of options on getting rid of me."

"Really now." Vyn put his eyeglasses back on, and looked at Marius coolly. "Is that a challenge?"

"Not really," Marius said, truthfully. "Not even my father would be able to twist your arm if you really want to stop tutoring me, Vyn. I'm just taking away all valid reasons of you getting away from me, is all."

"Is that so. Not even the threat of reporting your sexual harassment of your private tutor?"

"That again?" Marius's lips curled into a twisted smile. "I'd gladly step into the funeral pyre for you, if you keep on insisting of bringing it up. If my suffering by way of media and public stoning gets you your jollies I'd be glad to oblige."

"Ah." Vyn pursed his lips, staring at his rather passionate student with impassive eyes.

Marius then drops all traces of mirth from his face. "You're never getting away from me, Vyn Richter," was his bold declaration, his face a mirror of Vyn's cold, detached stare. "I will make you look at me. Me, and not at my brother's shadow.

"I like you. You're my favorite person." Marius reached out to trace Vyn's lips with a fingertip. "I will get you. Just you wait."

A self-satisfied smile then bloomed across his face.

"Soon enough you will be looking for Marius. Not Giann."

Vyn remained expressionless, yet the hand reaching for his teacup slightly trembled.

"You always spelled trouble, Marius. Very well then."

"Delivery for Dr. Richter," a staff member called out after knocking on the door to his office.

"Come in," Vyn said as he flipped through files on the tablet connected to his workstation. "You may place the--" his voice cut off upon seeing the rather ludicrous item being hauled into his office.

"W-where should I place this, Doctor?" the staff member asked as he struggled to carry the immensely large floral arrangement that was barely contained by the vase it came in. He almost teetered underneath the weight of the entire thing.

Vyn quickly pushed himself out of his swivel chair and hurried to assist him. "Let me help," he said, his words punctuated with a soft grunt as he grabbed the other side of the behemoth of a celadon vase.

Eventually they managed to set it by a bare corner of the office. All things considered, it filled the space rather tastefully despite being a six-foot monstrosity of a floral offering to Dr. Vyn Richter: full of lilies, gladiolus, and myriad colors of roses framed by palm fronds and pampas grass.

Vyn thanked the staff member for his help as he left, throwing him a token apology for his troubles.

"No worries, Dr. Richter," he said. "Though whoever it is in PAX who's been giving you these gifts...they're relentless."

Vyn pursed his lips as he flipped the signage hanging by his door to indicate Dr. Richter is OUT, and closed the door of his office.

He took out his smartphone and put Marius on speed dial.

"Well? Did you like it?" came Marius's voice as soon as he picked up.

"What are you playing at, Marius?" Vyn asked, voice clipped, as he walked to a nondescript cabinet set nearby his desk.

He opened one of the doors to reveal a tall pile of gifts--all unopened--that Marius had sent him for the past couple of weeks. "I will be very disappointed if you actually thought a faculty member can be easily bought off by these trinkets."

"What, did you think that I merely bought them from signature brands?" Marius huffed on the other end of the line. "Vyn. You are talking to Marius von Hagen, artist."

"Which means?"

"If I have to spell it out to you, my dear object of obsession," Vyn could almost hear Marius's grin. "I designed each and every one of them. Some of them made by my own hands. You'd see if you bothered opening those gifts.

"Even the celadon vase for the flowers I just sent you. I made it myself." Marius laughed. This time Vyn could easily taste the self-satisfied smirk that was no doubt playing on his student's lips right that very moment. "Though I should say making that was goddamn difficult--I had to look for a pottery studio that both specialized in celadon AND had a large enough kiln to fit that thing in. So don't go breaking it--I don't think I can make something like that ever again."

Vyn's brow furrowed. "Marius, I admit that you had caught me in a moment of utter weakness when I visited you," he began, "But you cannot--"

"No Vyn, it's too late to say that," Marius interrupted. Then in a low voice, he whispered "I had you, I tasted you--and I will make sure I will be the only one who can have you."

Vyn did not say anything in reply.

"Well, I'll be seeing you in our next session," Marius said in his usual brusque manner of speech. "Time to babysit these old farts. Bye~"

The line cut off.

"To hell with it, Marius," Vyn muttered as he carefully brought out the pile of gifts from the cabinet and transferred them onto his desk.

He said designed these. Very well, let us see.

A slim rectangular box wrapped in teal caught his eye. Vyn methodically unwrapped the paper, wedging a fingernail underneath the strips of packaging tape to prise them off.

All tape removed, he carefully unraveled the glossy wrapping paper to reveal a rather unremarkable white box.

He lifted the lid.

A necktie. Vyn gently gathered the wine red silken strip with his fingers; the fabric was soft, yet sturdy enough as required for neckties.

At first glance it was no different from the wine red ties that he always used and owned in multiples, but when he unfolded the silken strip he could see a barely-there shadow of a large stylized fleur-de-lis woven into the fabric itself.

The design was placed asymmetrically on the wider end of the necktie, in such a way that it would be completely hidden underneath his waistcoat.

In a fit of fancy Vyn slipped into his office's washroom and slipped off the necktie he was currently wearing, replacing it with Marius's gift.

With his waistcoat on the necktie didn't look any different than what he had on previously, except for the sheen of the silk fabric.

It is not so bad. I suppose I shall keep this.

He folded his other necktie and placed it in his closet on the way back to the desk.

There were several more boxes awaiting his inspection, but Vyn decided to bring them home so he may take his time unwrapping them later.

What caught his eye at the moment was the large celadon vase of the flower arrangement Marius sent him today. Vyn crossed the length of his office to closely behold the pale grey-green glossy ceramic.

Marius said he made it himself. The vase was made with painstakingly detailed lattice cutwork. It was quite obvious that it took a lot of effort into putting everything together, setting aside the matter of applying its unique glaze.

Vyn ran a palm across the glossy lattice surface, imagining Marius working on the details with a pottery chisel, most probably with his usual jacket either draped over a chair, or tied to his waist. The already short sleeves of his shirt rolled up to reveal more of his upper arms; sweat--

Wait.

Vyn bit hard into his thumb, making use of the sharp pain as an emergency brake to immediately halt his thoughts careening to the point of no return.

I am doing it again.

The tutoring session this time took place in the von Hagen estate, in the study adjacent to Marius's room.

Or supposed to, as the books--old tomes from Vyn's private collection--were somehow toppled off the table, scattered all over the lush carpeted floor.

Instead of books, what Marius studied intently over the table was his tutor, laid rather haphazardly onto the smooth varnished surface.

Marius tenderly cupped Vyn's cheek with his palm, taking his sweet time devouring his tutor's with his own. Tongue sliding against tongue, heavy breaths intermingling with each other's.

"You're wearing the tie. I can't believe it," Marius breathed as he briefly surfaced from the torrid kissing. "I'm glad. I really am." He then dipped once again to resume the kiss, his free hand ever-so-carefully pulling out the necktie from under the waistcoat, letting his fingers caress the silken fabric.

"I'm fighting the urge to tug at the necktie," Marius said in between sloppy kisses. "Because you hate relinquishing control. I respect that now."

The only response he got was Vyn's arms sliding onto his back, pulling him even closer.

Humming happily, Marius completely broke off from the kiss. He removed his hands from his beloved object of obsession to prop himself up on the table with elbows planted on Vyn's either side.

"I'm tempted to go further with you, Vyn, I really am," Marius said with a half-smile.

Vyn, having caught his breath, finally spoke since Marius initiated their making out. "And what is stopping you?"

"I said I will make you look at me." Marius's smile turned a touch wistful. "I will make you seek me out. Not as a stand in for my brother, but me. Myself. And until that happens," he traced Vyn's cheekbone, jawline with a fingertip. "I will hold back."

He tenderly tilted Vyn's chin up to guide the older man's lips to his once again.

"Aaaaah. Fuckit." Marius flopped onto the plush leather sofa inside one of the private rooms reserved for VIPs.

PAX was hosting yet another charity gala, and Marius, acting CEO and by default the major sponsor of the event, had to make his usual rounds, diving headlong into the battlefield of rival businessmen, underlings with ulterior motives, and myriad doting distant relatives pushing their daughters onto him in the vain hopes of striking a marriage of alliances.

He was already operating on autopilot, yet the farcical dance of pleasantries and cloaked words wore him down mentally--he still wondered how others managed to do it and still have the time of their lives.

Marius reached for his phone and dialed Vincent. "Hey Vince--yeah. I'm just in the private lounge, but don't let anyone know yet...I need to rest." A pause. "Oh? He was looking for me? Did he say why?" Another pause. "Yeah, he's fine. Let him up here if he wants to."

After a long spell of much deserved quiet Marius fell asleep in the sofa for a few minutes, until he felt his head drop forward; he managed to catch himself before he planted face first into the carpeted floor.

Shit. I'm so tired. He glanced at his smartphone--still an hour before he was due to deliver his closing remarks that would precede the after-party event.

Feeling a headache coming on, Marius fished out the pill case from his pocket and shook out a tablet. He was about to take it dry when he heard the door swing open.

"Hello, Marius," Vyn strode through the door, donning a white-tie ensemble looking for all the world like the handsome European royalty that he actually is.

A sharp intake of breath from Marius. "Vyn. You look..."

Vyn cocked an eyebrow, prompting him to complete the sentence.

"Ravishing. Beautiful. Alluring. Should I pull out the thesaurus so I can say them all?"

"If you need a thesaurus for something so elementary, Marius, I will be very disappointed." Vyn crossed the distance between them and took a seat in the leather sofa right next to Marius.

Vyn noticed the pill in Marius's gloved hand. "Headache?"

"Mm. Yeah." Marius said. "Though I have to admit I forgot about it when you walked in." He was about to pop it dry when Vyn held his hand.

"That's a good way to keep it from taking effect immediately," Vyn muttered as he stood up to grab a bottled water from the minibar and unscrewed the cap. "Here."

"Thanks." Marius finally managed to take the pill, downing it with several gulps of water. "So what brings you here, my muse?"

Vyn seemed to ignore his student's pet name for him. "I was worried. You look like you'd fall apart after a few more marriage proposals."

Marius made a moue. "Ehh? Was it that obvious? I thought I was doing a good job hiding how much I'm this close to kicking people in the eye."

"Oh, you are, I am sure," Vyn said as he took his seat again and crossed his legs. "But nothing escapes my eye, of course. Especially when it comes to you."

His words put a grin on Marius's face. "Wait. Don't say anymore, or I'll explode with happiness."

"Heh."

"Though really, Vyn, why are you here?" Marius closed his eyes as he sank deeper into the comfortable softness of the sofa, letting himself relax a little with his preferred company. "Last time I managed to catch a glimpse of you you were having a nice time mingling with the other executives."

Vyn gave Marius a side-eye. "That counted as a nice time for you?" The displeasure was very evident on both his face and tone of voice. "If I used this affair as a practical exam on observing micro-expressions, you would have gotten a flat F. I will be so offended that I will not bother bumping up your grade."

Marius snorted. "Well if I weren't assballs deep in having to deal with shit myself I would probably do a better job observing other guests."

"I am serious, Marius. It would do you good if you paid more attention to these details."

"Mhm." Marius shrugged it off. He was already doing fine in that department, or so he believed. He was, after all, trained for it since childhood.

A period of companionable silence followed.

Vyn was the first to break it. "I am here, seeking you out."

Marius blinked. "Run that by me again, Vyn?" He knew what he heard, but he was zoning out so he needed to make sure he had heard correctly.

"I am seeking you out, Marius." Vyn bit his lip. "Do not make me repeat myself."

Ah. Shit.

A thousand angels sang hallelujahs in Marius's head. Shit. I won. I actually won. Suddenly the headache had dissipated--Marius did not care if it was due to the medicine, or the elation that Vyn had essentially raised the white flag and is now irrevocably his.

Marius immediately moved to grab Vyn's shoulders, pinning his tutor underneath him onto the plush leather. "You are mine." he said before he dipped in for a kiss, softly biting at Vyn's lower lip. "Mine." He slipped a hand behind Vyn's head, pressing his face even closer to him as he kissed him quite hungrily, sucking on his tutor's tongue.

"Mine."

Vyn softly moaned into Marius's mouth, shuddering with need--yet he knew that this was not the right time to claim his prize. Reluctantly he pulled away from the kiss to say "The program is not yet done, Marius. Not yet."

"Damn it." Marius gritted his teeth. His hard-on was apparent to both of them; it was grinding not so subtly against Vyn's thigh. "I suppose I can let Vincent handle--"

Vyn grinned, a glint of familiar cruelty back in his eyes.

Marius had to blink to register the discordance between the situation and Vyn's behavior.

Realization dawned over Marius.

Vyn deliberately chose this exact moment to confess as a final tease to him--he cannot consummate their new status as lovers until he played nice and performed his duties as PAX scion.

Duties that would take three more hours before he can be let go.

Three hours too long. And Marius is already hard.

"You fucker."

Vyn's grin only grew wider.

The item this time was a flat, rectangular item around four feet in height. It was obvious to Vyn what it probably was--a painting, by "Z".

He waited until he was left alone in his office before he carefully unwrapped the package.

Vyn was soon thankful he did not tear the packaging; after seeing the painting he had to wrap it again properly for him to take it home.

It was a renaissance-style tempera painting of him, fully naked, save for a white cloth draped over his thighs and an arm cradling a staff tipped with white lilies.

In a humorous jab Marius even painted on a halo around Vyn's head.

And. half-hidden behind the white cloth, was a shadow of a devil's tail.

"Fuck you too, Marius."

Vyn allowed himself to laugh.

I studied Latin a few years ago and I want to translate this lil quote thingy from Pompeii that roughly translates to "lovers and bees live sweet lives. I wish I could, too".

Now here's the question: could I say honeyed instead of sweet? Because the literal translation from Latin would be sweet like honey but I don't wanna use a whole bunch of words for it because it's just one word in Latin. When I googled it said honeyed is just about food and I don't want to accidentally use a food-word when it's supposed to be all ✨serious✨ so that's why I'm asking 🥲

Annnnnd the reason I'm asking a RaNdOm FiC wRiTeR and not my professor is because he would wonder why I'm asking and I cannot lie for the life of me and I don't want to tell him it's for angsty, sexually explicit fan fiction about a 2D man so. Yah

And yes I also could just google what the ✨official translation✨ to English is but I'm a stubborn bitch and I want to do it myself so I'm not gonna 🤪

first of all, that's a REALLY nice quote. like so poetic and meaningful.

anyway, i think you definitely COULD substitute "sweet" for "honeyed". a lot of the times, when you look up english phrases like that, it will come up with really literal definitions despite the fact that they aren't always used that way (cultural context and whatnot). like with the word "honeyed" specifically.. yeah it usually applies to food (ie; honeyed ham), but there's also a phrase in English—"honeyed words"—that basically refers to something someone says that is sweet/kind/hopeful. similar to the way the phrase "sugarcoated" is used when referring to negative news/lies delivered in a way to not hurt feelings.

i use "honeyed" as a descriptor for things other than food in my writing all the time and while i don't think it would be exactly correct, i do think it applies really well to the specific quote you're using. it's honestly probably a closer translation in general since you said the original latin says "sweet like honey". also, the term "honeyed" in that context implies that it's coated in honey, not made of it, which i think suits the quote a lot if im interpreting it right.

it’s september 1st in south korea & japan rn,,,, so you know what that means

26th birthday hcs 👁👁

(this post is long as hell so brace urselves lmao)

on the morning of her birthday, ariana is woken up by either twitter and message notifications or her husband

her fans are blowing up her mentions with birthday wishes and her family & friends are doing the same, so bet that she has about a million notifs

since byakuya gets ready for work before ariana, he usually comes back to wake her up (even if she’s already up lol)

he hands her coffee (a caramel macchiato with a shit ton of cream and three sugars), tells her “good morning” and “happy birthday, love,” and kisses her on the forehead

Idek what this is imm so excited for BLIH i know it disappointed people but if i go through the pacing, writing, production with a better eye i feel like i can def support the claim that this show was genuinely decent. like to the point where i'm surprised people are more frustrated with it than other shows that are objectively worse in every other way. i know this has to do with the rate they got together but then, to me, that's kind of sad. it can be a dumb show and still have merits but i think i have some theories

1. the lack of initial popularity (on the english speakin net, cant speak for the chinese speakign one)

2. the salaciousness (or lack thereof)

3. a slow meandering pretty tranquil innocuous asian drama so 1+2 and then i think bc it's BL people may not have wanted that expediency

i watched 'mad for each other' which is a kdrama and on netflix; 13 eps, 30-40m an ep. it's a good show, interesting, quirky, not perfect at all but it made me feel good and i got the feeling that i did while watching mad for each other (i wanted to finish that quickly so i rushed through it! but i loved it) and then rewatched BLIH and the thing i had to say when i first watched it it reminds me of a full fledged drama (aka kdrama which is the one i'm most acquainted with outside of twestern jawns) so maybe that's like the problem others thave. yes time and management and pacing etc but so many shows function under those constraints but i'm like what about this specifically and this is all ic an point to

yo I'm sorry if this is coming out of no where but I'm in hs and I realllllly wanna study anthropology and since you're an anthro major,,,, can you tell me what that's like, ik every prof and school is a lil different but like . yknow

yeahhh no problem! if you have specific questions that might be easier for me to answer but i’ll keep it a lil general for now. edit: i tend to ramble so my main points are bolded.

it’s kinda important for me to note that i started as a government major but found my school’s department to be really impersonal (idk how to describe it but the vibes were rancid, that’s the best i can do rip). so i switched to sociology the first day of classes lmfao. i later ended up having the same problem with soc, but it was kinda late in the day so i just kept it and added my other two majors, one of which is anthr

all of that to say, i’ve found the anthr department to be a much more “human” place? like in terms of caring about people and how academia impacts the “real world,” which is extremely important (imo).

in anthr, at least at my school, we focus a ton on methodology and for lack of a better word, morality. stuff like how the history of anthr’s formation and establishment as a legit academic discipline impacts future study (super basic version: sociology as “a study of the west” and anthr as “a study of the rest.” obviously that’s very based in racism and colonialist ideals, so an important question becomes “how do we proceed in a discipline with such a past? how can we use that to make us better academics?” etc.)

in terms of workload: very reading heavy, right now im taking two anthr classes and i would say i have around 70 - 100 pages to read a week? that’s light/average compared to other humanities (i’m also majoring in religious studies, that’s like 70 - 150 pages? and soc, as a social science is more like 30 - 80 pages. i minored in east asian history and that was actually pretty light for humanities, it really ranged from 40 - 100 pages iirc). also, i think this is often the case but at the lower level you have more quizzes and busy work, usually with short response and short (5 page) papers. as you take upper level courses you have less busy work, more readings, more presentations, and longer papers (10+)

random advice: i would really recommend taking a language! idk if you have specific goals for what you want to do after graduation but one of the best things is to get a PhD and do research. personally i want to focus in methodology (bc i suck at languages lmfao) but the more typical (and fun) part of anthr is the area studies part, and knowing a language makes you incredibly competitive. of course, you don’t need to do anthropology in an area that requires you to learn a language (like i can do english speaking places as is, and there are also like a billion sublevels of anthr at the grad level, like medical, historical, etc that don’t require a language) but it will def make getting into research easier

the really cool thing about anthr is that it pairs well with most stem and social sciences! you can pretty much pick anything subject in those fields and there’s a subfield for that. like i know a grad student who’s doing the anthr of math (don’t ask me what that entails bc i have no clue), a friend of mine did a final project on the anthr of modern witchcraft, i know a few people who are working on projects related to college students during quarantine. personally my undergrad work is on marginalization and apathy + immigration and humanitarian aid. the possibilities are truly endless.

on that same topic, im not sure that people in creative writing would agree but i’ve heard some famous author give this advice to aspiring writers: don’t major in english. their rationale is that you can learn to write anywhere, and that it’s much more important to have other knowledge so that you have something to write about. i would say something similar about anthr- it’s a lil useless on it’s own. that being said, i personally think minoring or double majoring is a must with anthr. like, it just means more if you have other outside interests.

i’m not sure if you’re a college student but if you’re not yet and don’t know where you’re going yet, this seems obvious but definitely look at the course offerings and major requirements before you apply (if possible)! there’s always gonna be stuff you learn by being a student (and if you can connect with students in the department, definitely try to do that!) but there’s still info that you can glean from the websites. simple stuff like “how would i build a semester schedule from this? would i enjoy these classes?” etc. you can also email professors if you want! most of them legitimately want to help students, and the worse they can do is not respond!

that’s kind of it off the top of my head, but if you have any specific questions about anthr or college feel free to ask! i kinda just rambled because i wasn’t sure lol

sorry if this is rude im just curious '-' what made u choose triple sci and not another subject combi? what did u face aft that and what struggles did u meet? how did u overcome those struggles? did u ever regret ur combi? What did u like most abt it? if u cld go back in time and change it when u were applying for subject combi would u do so? Why or why not? 1. because i didnt wanna limit myself at sec sch level. like because honestly i knew i liked bio and chem more than phy but phy is like,,, u know what the adults say money making. plus i heard that upper sec phy not as hard ie the jump is smaller compared to chem and bio so i just take lor. anyways my strength is always science and english compared to other subjects so triple was the way to go :>

2. honestly the workload is ok. like everyone i struggled w chem at first but slowly i got the hang of it (how to answer) so i didn't face much difficulties in science. my amaths and emaths however is another case because they were damn 爛！爛到不行! ofc i was a busy student so i had to stay up late to do work and study on the go but other than that not much issues

3. for chem it was a matter of getting used to it so only time and practice cld help. for math i just sucked all the way to 2 weeks before Os when i woke up and grinded tys and practice papers. i just barely pass my amath major exams. as for studying at night if i got tired i'll eat fruits or drink smt cold or even just have some ice cubes(wtf right i know) and wash my face, play some nice music and jam out while finishing my work. sometimes it was demoralising la cos u see everyone sleeping and chilling and gg out but u have training then after training u need to mug like hell but its like DAMN i rly love my sports so i just told myself if its something i like then its worth working doubly hard for!!

4. No i never regretted my combi. ppl always say triple is hard. i took like 9 subs (incl ECL for o level during sec3) and i got 9 distinctions and i still managed to train, have fun and enjoy myself and learn a lot and rly challenge myself to step outta my comfort zone. if anything its not as scary as ppl say it is because if u plan ur time well (i didnt rly but still) its definitely manageable and pretty fun imo. for my SS+egeog, i struggled w SS cos of a shitty teacher and honestly i still dislike the subject la but learning geog was so much fun so it didnt hurt much. tbh i think ppl say 3sci is hard cos of pure bio but bio was my strength so it never rly mattered. also memorising isnt painful if u like the subj HAHAHA anyway if u listen in class and watch videos it sinks in pretty fast:>

5. i liked that if u ever got bored about one subj theres always smt else to study lor. like imagine u cant understand circuits, ok move on and do organic chem. tired of your acids and bases then go study DNA lor HAHAHA ppl say its a heavy workload but for students like me with short attention span, its good cus i can keep studying diff things without getting bored.

6. nah i wouldnt change. i think this is the right combi for me. cus ppl like me (ahem indecisive libras) take damn long to decide but when i decide i make sure i've made the best possible choice lor. no huge regrets la. amath was compulsory (bleh). hcl was painful but i stopped hating chinese cus i made a couple of cool friends from china, taiwan and hkg (esp the taiwanese were so supportive and willing to help me with my work and i could help all of them with their english HAHAHA) which made learning more fun (plus since we all played the same sport u can learn sporting terms in chinese HOW COOL HAHAHA) then trisci was def the best part of my combi cus i love science man. for my sch if u take trisci u have to take ss + elective humans and out of elit hist and geog i'd still take geog (altho i fared the worst for geog in lower sec) cus its my interest and i rly love it :> so yeah i wouldnt change anything!!!
