FAQ
What is a gift exchange? - It’s just what it sounds like- an exchanging of gifts!
What are the gifts for this? - Any piece of art for Dungeons and Daddies! Fic, art, cosplay- if you make it, it’s happening.
How will this work? - We will post a link to a Google Form that will collect information from the people who would like to join. This will include what they would like to gift and what they would like to be gifted, along with contact information so we can reach out at a later date. We will then go through these responses and assign everyone a person to create for, therefore meaning everyone gets a gift! Who you’re assigned will be kept a secret until it’s time to post, and then we’ll have a week of everything being revealed.
(rest will be under the cut so that this isn’t too long!)
What’s our schedule? - Sign-up Form Opens: November 15th - Sign-up Form Closes: December 15th - Assignments sent out (with a link to a Discord server for the event, which is optional): January 1st (may be earlier) - Gifts and Gifters revealed: February 22nd to February 29th.
Discord server? - Yes! Everyone participating in the event will be invited to an optional Discord server- and by optional, we really do mean it. The Discord will be a place to share works in progress (with absolutely NO mention as to who everyone is creating for), generally talk, brainstorm, all that good stuff!
It’ll also just be a place where we’ll contact people when needed. For example- if you sign up to be in the Discord server and we need a pitch hitter(someone to replace someone who dropped out)? We’ll probably contact you there first. But if not, we’ll just contact you through email instead. No biggie.
Why aren’t you calling this a Secret Santa? - For those who don’t know, events done in this fashion- especially around this time of year- are usually called Secret Santas. We aren’t using that title for the sole reason of we’re a bit tired of that guy! We may still use these tags for posts trying to get people to sign up, however, since we’re trying to reach as many people as possible, and it is a widely used label.
How do I get in touch? - You can always DM us on here, or send an ask! We also have an email that’s ripe for the picking: [email protected] .
Why February? - For those who don’t know, last year we ran this event for the first time, and had our gifting week be during the end of December. We did this because that’s the schedule most gift exchanges run on! But we now realize that’s a horrible time for many in North Americans to have to actually finish something on a time limit, and plus, moving the date is just more comfortable for those not wanting to participate in something Christmas-centric. So February it is!
Something came up and I can’t finsh my gift- what do I do?! - Don’t worry! Message us asap to let us know, and we’ll get a replacement for you stat. It’s no big deal and there’s no need to feel guilty; this is all just supposed to be for fun! But the sooner you tell us, the sooner we can figure something out, so please don’t delay in letting us know. Even if it’s only a day before gifting week- that’s still a day we could use to get someone started!
Sign-ups are closed but I want to join. :( - DM us or send in an ask, and we’ll see what we can do. We regularly let late people join- and the sooner you reach out, the better!
Is there a minimum for fanfic / fanart / ect? - Some events require gifts- mostly fanfic- to meet certain requirements to be accepted into the event, for example in the form of a word count minimum. We don’t have any minimums because we feel as though everyone’s best looks different, and regularly changes based on the time, resources, and energy they had. If you’re looking for an event with strict “quality checks”, this event may not be for you! Beginners and people who feel like they aren’t “good” at creating are especially encouraged to join.
