Congratulations, Reggie! Youâve been accepted for the role of Emmanuel Mensah. Please make sure to check our checklist, and you have twenty-four hours to send us your characterâs blog. Weâre really happy to have you in our family!
Your headcanons brought to life so much of the way Emmanuel thinks and carries himself, as well as his identity as an alpha and leader of the pack and protector of the Island. These layers were so fun to read and we're so excited for you to take Emmanuel to deeper levels. Your para was also very well written and we were able to feel his vibe and presence from your whole app. Well done!
Introduction
Reggie, he/him, 22, EST.
Activity level:
I work every day in the morning with weekends off, so I should be at least available almost every evening. With that being said, I play D&D on a weeknight every two weeks or so and I go out for drinks with coworkers, so I wonât be on every single night. But my account will be attached to my phone, so Iâll pretty much be around frequently for plotting and such.

IC INFORMATION
Desired character:
Emmanuel Mensah
Faceclaim:
Idris Elba
Why did you choose this character?
The idea of playing a man burdened with leading an entire group (let alone taking on the responsibility of caring for those outside of the pack) intrigues me. Thereâs so much room for angsty character development, and I would love to have the challenge of playing a straight-faced, no-nonsense yet caring leader who hides his own fears and reservations for the sake of being the inspiration his people need.
Para sample:
The nights were hotter and more humid in mid-July Florida. Emmanuel didnât like it. He and his pack were used to cooler Massachusetts nights with a nice breeze running through his scalp and the moonlight shining in the water. It didnât feel the same here. There was no water close enough to see the reflection of the moon in. And the breeze was humid, leaving an uncomfortable coat of sweat on his skin.
Still, regardless of how much he hated traveling far from home, Emmanuel had an obligation. The Mensah pack had an obligation to take care of packs who needed their help. Their sister pack in the Everglades had needed help against a warring pack from Nevada who had come in the hopes of taking their territory. Emmanuel and his pack made quick work of the warring pack. It was cleaning up after them that would prove to be a bit more difficult. And the stench of the Everglades made it hard to sniff out anybody who may have survived an attack. For the most part, there were no survivors of the Nevada packâs attack. Not on the night of the full moon.
It was a quick job, done professionally and before the sun had gone down, and Emmanuel was just ready to go home. As the final bit of sunlight disappeared and the sky grew dark around them, the Mensah pack shifted into their wolf forms, shrouded by the thick cover of the woods. They made their way home, hidden as their massive wolf forms stomped across the terrain. They only stopped when a familiar scent came across his nostrils. He looked to the wolf beside him, his right-hand man running beside him since he first became leader of the pack, and they nodded in agreement. New wolf.
They followed the scent to a small home in the suburbs, no more than two bedrooms, and shifted back to their human forms just outside the back window. Emmanuel peeked in through the broken glass, the sight filling him with a sadness he was all too familiar. A family maimed, bits and pieces tossed all over the blood-and-gore-covered room. And in the center, a crying young woman. She laid there, naked and covered in blood (her own and of her slaughtered family).
âHelp me,â she whispered as if she knew he was standing there. âI donât know how, but⌠I can smell you. Please, mister⌠Everything hurtsâŚâ
And for the first time in a very long time, Emmanuel felt pity for the poor lone wolf. He hadnât seen a scene as heartbreaking as this in a long time. He didnât usually let these things affect his better judgment, but he couldnât help it this time. Maybe it was the dreaded hot Florida air.
âAlright,â he voice rumbled, the man trying his best to sound comforting and kind. âLetâs get you out of here. Weâll help you, sweetheart.â
He came in, covered her with a blanket, and being fully understanding of the pain of a first-time transformation, picked her up in his arms. He put her on the back of his right-hand man, told her to hold on tight, and made their way back to Moon Island.
EXTRA
Personality traits:
+ Humble: Emmanuel is a great man who wants nothing more than to make sure the pack sees him as an equal. He does not believe that being alpha makes him any better than anybody else, and he refuses to let others believe that.
+ Loyal: Emmanuelâs loyalty towards his pack was almost a genetic trait. He was born into a pack that he always treated like a massive family, and loyalty was a given between all of them. Outside of the pack, though, it is difficult to gain his trust and loyalty. He believes that it is easier (for the sake of his pack and others he may care about) to assume the worse in strangers than to be disappointed later on down the line.
+ Nurturing: As stated before, Emmanuel is inherently loyal to his pack, and a bit more tentative towards certain people outside of the pack. But those he considers close are cared for like they are his own blood.
- Â Reserved: Emmanuel doesnât let anybody in. Even within his pack, not many people are close enough to Emmanuel to know what goes on in his mind. He puts up a front, hides his truest feelings, and refuses to let anybody know his fears.
- Brooding: Emmanuel is a quiet man who, when not concentrating his thoughts and efforts in something productive, sits in silence. His worries and struggles invade his mind, keeping him from being as productive as he would like to be.
- Harsh: Emmanuelâs expectations of his tribe are not impossibly high, but they are strict. He works on a second-chance rule. Those who make mistakes are forgiven once. Those who persist are not.
Headcanons:
Headcanon: There are few people outside of the pack that Emmanuel considers trustworthy. But nothing is deemed more untrustworthy to him as lone wolves. When a lone wolf makes its way to the Moon Island, Emmanuel demands to meet them in order to pass judgment. Should the lone wolf prove to be respectful (or at the very least, proves to be nothing of a threat), he allows them to stay on Moon Island, provided they stay their nights at the Squantum Cliffs (he personally chains them up on full moon nights before chaining up the pack and himself). If he deems them untrustworthy, he banishes them from the Island, threatening to dispose of them if he sees them again. None have challenged his threat yet.
Headcanon: Emmanuel owns Mensah Construction, a construction company that is in charge of building most of the homes and buildings in town. While he can be found in his office (both on-and-off-site) a few times, Emmanuel is typically outside working just as hard as the rest of his men, who he pays fairly, and any can attest that Emmanuel is a man who leads by example.
Headcanon: The only occasion in which Emmanuel has truly trusted a lone wolf was in Isabelâs case. He found her in a state of vulnerability he had never seen (considering his pack had always taught their members to embrace the wolf and prepare themselves). He saw the trauma in her face and decided to mentor the girl, teaching her to survive and send her on her way. Little did he know he would find in her the closest thing to a daughter he might ever find.
Headcanon: Emmanuel lives in a big house close to the edge of the northernmost woods. Thereâs a cellar door behind it that appears to be nothing more than a ratty yet intact cellar door. Some of Emmanuelâs most trusted pack members have a key to the cellar door, and upon walking in, they would find that the basement is fully furnished and exquisitely decorated. This serves as Emmanuelâs pack meeting place (be it individually with Emmanuel or as a group). It is rare that anybody outside the pack is allowed access to âthe Denâ.
Headcanon: Emmanuel doesnât answer to nicknames. There are only one or two people who he allows to call him âMannyâ, but he appreciates only being called that in private.
Headcanon: Emmanuel has a set of rules (or as he calls it, a âcode of conductâ) that he expects the entire pack to respect (Iâd love to see this actually happen and have it sent to the Mensah pack members).
