#i used to have scooby themed birthdays and sometimes just random scooby themed parties in general

Listen I kind of hate adding my voice/opinion to the atrocity that is Velma but as far as I’m concerned the only legitimate “adult Scooby Doo”
(editing this to say that I mean this in the context of like, if we’re not allowed to consider the previous cartoons/Scooby movies “adult” for whatever reason, personally I think the cartoons and the live action movies are equally for adults as much as they are for kids)
worth any merit has always been The Cabin in the Woods.
Which was, for anyone who didn’t know, actually a really cool and interesting plot line about very close and loving college friends (a stereotypical jock who actually is a sociology major, a stereotypical popular girl who is a pre-med student, a nerdy/dorky football player, a super smart pothead with an extendable bong, and a secretly badasss shy girl)
They’re kind of like if all of the Scooby Gang members traits were put into 5 people (except Marty is a one to one for Shaggy tbh)
And they did a really cool thing either the trailer way back when it first came out where they made it seem like just another stereotypical teen slasher flick but then you watch it and realise it’s basically Scooby Doo meets SCP meets The Evil Dead. Sure, there’s still no talking dog, and sure horrible things happen to the characters but tbh they all have a more dignified existence than any of the characters in “Velma” not that that’s saying much tbh
Also it literally gave us this gif:
Which is a gif I imagine we will be seeing a lot of once the Velma show gets thrown in the trash or Matthew Lillard decides to use 0.1% of his power against the team behind it.
#velma show#the cabin in the woods#i have been a scooby fan since I could crawl#I’m literally surrounded by scooby stuff#i just feel like I needed to rant/vent about it#by the way I have only seen reviews from people on YouTube#people who are watching it via privacy no less#i am not about to sign up for HBO Max now or probably ever#i had an HBO Max account once and once only for Infinity Train reasons#and they fucking nerfed that so rip#I’m pagan partially due to Scooby Doo and the Witches Ghost#i used to have scooby themed birthdays and sometimes just random scooby themed parties in general#I’m so tired of cash grab media destroying beloved IP for shock value#like I can only assume the reason this got greenlit is that the producers knew it would be incendiary#i can not fathom why else they’d agree to do a racist sexist bigoted version of Scooby Doo#the one and only good thing is I’ve found a lot of true scooby fans to follow in all of this

OTP Questions ~
Since I rarely get asks for those silly ask games, and I’m feeling like blah currently, I decided that I would answer all 15 OTP questions without being prompted because I can, so there! Lol :P
Prepare for a lot of random Tessa and Alex facts!
1. Who said I love you first? - Alex, he said it to Tessa when they were 15 and she promptly broke up with him afterwards. It was a bad bad time in her life and she did some stupid shit, but thankfully they got past it.
2. Who laughs and kisses their partner on the cheek while their partner isn’t happy about something trivial to try and make them feel better? - Tessa, she knows when Alex is grouchy and how to make him feel better. Whereas is Tessa is in a mood, it’s better to just stand back or suffer the consequences.
3. Who cuddles up to the other after a long day at work, and this soon escalates to a playful pillow fight? - Both? That could literally be either one of them at any time of the day, and typically the pillow fight will dissolve into something more ‘mature’.
4. What is something that they gave one another that has a lot of meaning? - They’re not really materialistic people, although anyone could claim that Tessa is just due to her upbringing. The things they’ve given each other that hold a lot of significance in their lives are moments or gestures, like when Tessa swallowed her hot girl head cheerleader pride and wore a Star Wars inspired dress to their senior prom for Alex. The theme was space and even though she threatened all her friend’s lives and limbs if even one considered showing up in cosplay, she did wear a dress with the Death Star designed on the skirt.
5. How would one another describe their partner? - Tessa would describe Alex as Daphne from Scooby Doo, whereas Alex would just sigh and say ‘crazy’.
6. Who wraps their arms around their partner as they look them in the eyes and compliments them with a goofy smile? - Alex, one hundred percent Alex. He has always had a goofy lovestruck grin when it comes to Tessa, even when they were kids.
7. Who loves saying ‘my wife’ or ‘my husband’ or ‘my spouse’? - Both, because for a long time they weren’t sure they’d ever get there. There was no future for them, not long term, not that they thought. So to be in a place where they’re married, it’s amazing to them.
8. Who always talks about how amazing their partner is when their partner isn’t there and they just light up with genuine love and happiness? - Alex mostly, he can ruin a guys night out real quick with just one mention of Tessa.
9. Who loves it when their partner kisses them good morning? - Both, it’s the first thing they do before even rolling out of bed, morning breath be dammed.
10. Who shows the other how to balance a spoon on their nose? - Tessa, she has an ungodly sense of balance with literally everything, it’s almost otherworldly.
11. Who loves to pull pranks on the other? What type of pranks do they pull and do they pull their pranks off? - They’re not really a pranking couple, Alex isn’t insane enough to do that and Tessa isn’t childish enough too. Although they aren’t above pranking their friends, because together their schemes can be truly evil.
12. What is something small that they would randomly pick up for one another? - Tessa would probably grab a book or comic or game or something ‘nerdy’ that Alex mentioned in passing that he liked or wanted to grab at some point, and Alex would definitely bring food. Like not junk food or anything, but Tessa’s a ballet dancer and he knows she sometimes skips meals because she’s busy or tired so things like water, fruit, nuts, protein bars, etc. That kind of thing is always on him so he can be like; have you eaten? Have you drank? No? Here, have this.
13. Who is the one who can’t stop laughing when trying to tell a joke? - Neither, they’re not those type of people. They’re both very sarcastic, very witty. Alex has a very dry witt, his replies are quick and biting. Whereas Tessa’s more scathing, she doesn’t really tell jokes. In her mind, her friends are her jokes.
14. Who would plan the other a surprise birthday party? - Oh, neither. Both of them hate surprises and both of them hate parties that require their friends and families get together. The best birthday surprise for either of them would be a quiet get away, where they didn’t have to do anything or deal with anyone.
15. Who picks the other person up when hugging their partner? - Alex, he’s five inches taller than Tessa which really bugged her when they were teenagers because she use to be taller than him but once they hit puberty he shot up and by the time they were out of high school he was 6′2 whereas she was 5′9. He does enjoy picking her up as often as possible, she says it’s just because he’s a show off.

Tagged by @basada-en-la-esperanza! I know I’ve basically stopped using this website, but I love doing these, and the first thing I saw after logging on for the first time in weeks was that N had just tagged me, so you bet I’m gonna do this one.
You can call me: Emily, or Em if you want
I’d describe myself as: caring; responsible; cautious; a weird combination of quiet and talkative.
Fictional character(s) that I identify with or am fond of: I think I’ve written before that I don’t tend to identify with fictional characters. I’m very fond of Steve Rogers (and refuse to see endg*me because character assassination). Also Rey and Finn. Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Elizabeth Bennet. Evelyn Carnahan.
Three random facts about me:
1) I love spooky things but am very easily spooked. This leads to such contradictory behavior as choosing to watch ghost shows after dark and then making my siblings come downstairs with me because I’m too scared to go by myself.
2) I have mast cell activation syndrome and have to follow a low-histamine diet, in addition to dealing with other food intolerances.
3) My favorite Elton John album is Tumbleweed Connection, and I still can’t believe no one’s turned it into a musical yet. Anyone who wants to take on the project should come talk to me, because I’ve got Ideas.
Something little about my appearance that I kind of like: the color of my eyes.
An outfit that makes me feel powerful: jeans, flannel shirt, and boots.
An object that is special to me: I probably couldn’t function without my phone.
A compliment (or two, or three) about me that made me feel warm inside: Usually they’re food-related. Last week I made gluten-free/vegan donuts for my sister’s first grade Halloween party and one of her teachers was super grateful. Yesterday I made garlic knots and my mom couldn’t stop saying how good they were.
Something I’d love to buy for someone else: I wish I could get my little sister some more cozy leggings/sweatpants. She’s got enough to get by, but it would be nice to have a few extra pairs and be less worried about running out before laundry day.
Something I’d love to buy for myself: I would love a pair of taller winter boots for colder, snowier days. Also warmer mittens. Also warmer slippers. Are you sensing a theme here?
Three things that make me happy right now:
1) My mom was gifted an electric blanket for her birthday, but she already has one, so she re-gifted it to me. Now I turn it on while I’m getting ready for bed, and it feels like a whole herd of cats has been laying on the foot of my bed when I get into it, and it’s lovely.
2) I recently learned that one can drink plain hot water and it’s surprisingly pleasant. Sometimes I’ll add a small spoonful of honey as well, and it almost makes up for the fact that I can’t drink tea like I used to.
3) I’m taking my sibling to an appointment tomorrow and the office just called to switch from the location that’s 30 minutes away to the location that’s only 10 minutes away, which makes my day a lot easier.
Something I’m looking forward to: I just gave in to temptation and ordered myself three bags of smashmallows—pumpkin pie, hot cocoa, and candy cane—and I can’t wait to try them all (though I think I’m most excited about the candy cane flavor).
Something I enjoyed recently: A few days before Halloween, my siblings and I went on a local ghost tour, and the guide was super friendly and an amazing storyteller, and the stories were awesomely creepy, and it was an all-around blast. 10/10 would recommend.
Song(s) stuck in my head recently: She Lit A Fire by Lord Huron.
I watched this, maybe you’d like it too: In all honesty, Wishbone is the last thing I watched and enjoyed the heck out of. Oh, and Leverage! Can’t forget the Leverage rewatch.
Something adorable I came across recently: I carved my Halloween pumpkin this year to look like the spooky space kook from Scooby Doo, and in my research I found this video of this guy’s realistic (and amazing) costume, and the family photo at the end featuring all their themed costumes is super cute imo.
If you wanted to know me better, you should check out these things: Hmm. Well, I have a very long list of favorite things, including but definitely not limited to Pride and Prejudice, Sherlock Holmes (ACD’s version), The Mummy, The Force Awakens, Captain America, The X-Files, Leverage, Tamora Pierce’s books, Hozier’s music, Bastille’s music. If you were to interact with any of these things and then come discuss it with me, that might be one way to get to know me better.
Something I can/will do to take care of myself or make things more positive for me in the coming days: For physical and emotional health, regular baths will be occurring over the next week or so. ‘
If you want to answer some questions too, consider yourself tagged. :)
