Who is...Sam Guthrie | Cannonball? - A Reading Guide
Tumblr media
Sam Guthrie is an X-Men and Avengers affiliated mutant from Marvel Comics. Sam is the oldest of the nine Guthrie children and is the definition of parentification having dropped out of high school to work in the coal mines that killed his father (in either a mine accident or through black lung depending on your preferred retcon). Sam's powers would manifest during a mining accident and allowed him to blast through the rock to safety. Sam would then join the team he's most associated with, the New Mutants. Sam's story is one of overcoming adversities, determination, and of healing. Some of Sam's earlier stories show him being groomed by Lila Cheney and the adults in charge of his safety enabling her.
Sam is also excellent Appalachian representation and is one of the first Appalachian main characters to not be ashamed of being Appalachian while simultaneously not being based on hillbilly humor.
You'll find a reading list under the cut! The list will need to be posted in multiple parts due to length, subsequent parts will be added as reblogs.
Part 1 below!
Introduction and New Mutants Era
Sam's first team immediately after introduction was the original New Mutants (1983). Throughout this period Sam develops the close bonds he's known for, particularly with teammates Roberto Da Costa (Sunspot), Dani Moonstar (Mirage), and Rahne Sinclair (Wolfsbane). New Mutants was written by Chris Claremont and while wonderful, drops the ball in many places, one of which being the way that Sam's dialect is written and the sort of general understanding of Appalachia, as well as a refusal to acknowledge that Sam's relationship with Lila Cheney was based upon grooming. The issue that introduces Lila to Sam's story will have a red asterisk and a trigger warning next to it.
Marvel Graphic Novel (1981) #4 New Mutants (1983) #1-12 Marvel Team-Up (1972) # Annual 6 New Mutants (1983) #13-21 Rom (1982) #Annual 3 New Mutants (1983) # Annual 1 * (TW: Grooming) New Mutants (1983) #23-25 Marvel Team-Up (1972) #149 New Mutants (1983) #29 (Lila is in this issue) New Mutants (1983) #30-34 New Mutants Special Edition (1985) #1 Uncanny X-Men (1981) #201 (definitely not a necessary issue, but it's one that highlights that Sam IS smart, he's just really bad at technology) New Mutants (1983) #37 Firestar (1986) #2 New Mutants (1983) #38-40, 42-44, Annual 2, 45-51, Annual 3, 52 Fallen Angels (1987) #1 (this issue is a good look into Sam and Berto's relationship) New Mutants (1983) #53-66 Spellbound (1988) #4 (Lila's in this issue and you can see the way she almost treats Sam like an accessory) New Mutants (1983) #Annual 4A-B, 67-76, Annual 5A, 77-92, Annual 6A Wolverine: Rahne of Terra (not incredibly Sam focused and it's a bit..different, but what there is of Sam I like) New Mutants (1983) #93-100, Annual 7A
X-Force, X-Men, and X-Force Again
After the end of New Mutants, under the direction of Cable, Sam helped found the team, X-Force, and would be appointed Cable's second-in-command. While in New Mutants we got to see a Sam Guthrie who was coming into his powers, X-Force really gives us a glimpse of a Sam Guthrie who is starting to really apply those powers and who is starting to highlight why the character has come to be known as a powerhouse. During this period we see Sam go from a member of X-Force, to becoming a fully fledged X-Men, and then see him re-join X-Force until the team is disbanded. The change from X-Force to X-Men to X-Force are not represented in different sections as there is still overlap in Sam's character interactions and throughout his period on the X-Men, his former X-Force affiliation is an important factor that helps inform his choices and his outlook on situations, although I have tried to signify the changes with breaks in the text block.
New Warriors (1990) # Annual 1A Uncanny X-Men (1981) #Annual 15A X-Factor (1986) #Annual 6A X-Force (1991) #1-3 Spider-Man (1990) #16 X-Force (1991) #4-5 X-Factor (1986) #77 X-Force (1991) #Annual 1C, 6-15 X-Cutioner's Song Event (this links you to a reading list I made for the event) X-Men (1991) #17 New Warriors (1990) #31 X-Force (1991) #19-26, Annual 2, 27-29, 32-33 New Warriors (1990) #46 X-Force (1991) #34-37 Cable (1993) #15 X-Factor (1986) #106 X-Force (1991) #38 Excalibur (1988) #82 X-Force (1991) #39-45 Uncanny X-Men (1981) #323-325 Wolverine (1988) #93

helloooo do you have any book recommendations that are quite similar to your work? šŸ’“
oh this is SUCH a good question! also a bit difficult to answer because the better the book, the more up-my-own-ass I look for making a comparison. I'm just going to offer a little selection with very brief summaries/bullet points and hope that you guys understand that most of this list is aspirational and I'm not claiming to be a peer to any of these writers particularly. putting it under a readmore because I know myself.
the very first one that sprang to mind is Badger by C. M. McKenna. A recovering addict forms a mutual, deeply unhealthy obsession with a ruthless vigilante. even though they connect with one another on a level that they can't seem to reach with anyone else, the relationship is volatile and unsustainable. trigger warnings for sadomasochism and brief details about past child abuse and CSA.
Sunshine by Robin McKinley - a career baker is abducted by a gang of vampires and left as prey for one of their own. When dawn breaks and he still hasn't touched her, the tables quickly turn. (I haven't read this one in a while, but remember it as being very in keeping with the kind of romantic relationships I write--prickly, complicated, slow-burning, maybe a little unsatisfying in that you never get quite what you want? Robin McKinley's romances were definitely a huge influence on my taste in general, so her bibliography is worth checking out. The Blue Sword is also good)
Helpmeet by Naben Ruthnum - a woman brings her dying husband to his childhood home to care for him in his final days. Romantic, grotesque, a novella about devotion and obsession. A quick read at under 100 pages, but not always an easy one. cw for body horror and some generally gross descriptions of a guy who's basically falling apart, but absolutely worth it, I think. I read this in one sitting and have been recommending it since. I'm getting increasingly interested in blending horror and romance, and this project marries the genres perfectly.
I'm going to pivot slightly and lean harder into the "aspirational" side of things-- the following books don't so much have things in common with my writing (or my writing with them) but they scratch my brain every which way, I love them, I've reread all of them at least 3 times, and they're definitely in mind when I think about how to plot a story or set a scene or progress through a romance. (you'll forgive that the first 2 options are YA-- I have a whole lecture about YA's stranglehold on marketing and how lots of books that are by every other marker "adult fiction" get sucked beneath the YA umbrella even though they don't belong there just so they'll sell better, but we won't get into it now)
The Folk of the Air Trilogy by Holly Black - fae court intrigue, scandals, treachery, and backstabbing + a central couple that hates each other so much that they just have to do some smooching about it. you love to see it. A lot of stuff billed as "enemies to lovers" is fangless because they're worried about making the "enemies" too unsympathetic or too mean-- not here. Here, there are several times when I was worried either half of the couple was actually going to kill each other, lol. Violent mutual obsession. Difficult to put down once you've started.
The Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo - mean, nasty criminal wunderkind Kaz Brekker is out for revenge, and also to take over the city's underworld entirely. Heists on heists, thousands of plates spinning at once, a crew full of misfits, and a girl that has become his right hand, his confidante, and his conscience (entirely against his will). we love a high fantasy crime romp, especially with such a complicated relationship at its center.
The Secret History by Donna Tartt - I can't ever put together a books rec list without adding this. If there's a single person out there who missed the early 2010s tumblr craze and doesn't know what this book is about: a California misfit finagles his way into an elite private college in New England, where he becomes fascinated by a small, elegant clique of Classics students. He manages to infiltrate the clique, and slowly becomes involved in their personal entanglements, quarrels, secrets, and-- eventually-- murder. Everything that has ever branded itself "dark academia" is trying to do what TSH did and has failed miserably. It is the blueprint and incomparable. Tartt's lush prose seduces you as quickly as the clique seduces Richard, and, like Richard, you don't want to leave, don't want this charmed existence to end. At least half of what I do is trying-- pretty unsuccessfully-- to be in conversation with The Secret History. It accomplishes everything it's trying to accomplish, and it's a privilege to read.
The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins - do you like found family? You won't for long. A fucked-up array of found siblings are being groomed to mysterious purpose by a father figure who has kept them locked away from the world at the Library, where they are raised and trained and tortured in turn. Carolyn, one of the more unassuming of these siblings, has a plan to get free-- a plan that quickly puts the whole world in serious peril. Like most of the rest of the books on this list, this one is un-put-downable, setting a breakneck pace and with compelling characters, and I'm just in so much awe at the way this is plotted-- it's a masterclass in compelling storytelling, and by a guy who's only ever written Linux manuals! I don't know how you write a debut novel like this. I think about it all the time.
Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones - this is tumblr, everyone knows about Howl's Moving Castle, I won't belabor the point, but the book is different from the movie in a way that makes it very worth reading, and it's kind of the champion of bicker romance, a couple whose love language is low-level (to high-level) quarreling nonstop. they drive each other crazy and would also die for each other. so romantic <3
okay I've lost the plot. here's a bite size book rec blast to wrap it up and the points where I think we overlap: Piranesi by Susanna Clark (faith, optimism, gratitude and awe for the world you live in), The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery (taking the frightening step to build intense intimacy with a stranger), obviously the Thomas Harris Hannibal books (complicated romance with a killer). Set This House in Order by Matt Ruff (sometimes, your protagonists have a rich inner life that you have to navigate carefully-- some more than others). The Checquy Files by Daniel O'Malley (sometimes your female protagonist is pitched headfirst into a dangerous and mysterious world she's not prepared for and has to wing it the best she can. this one is a reach because that applies to thousands of books, I really just wanted to include it because these are fabulous books and fun to read). Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy (figures of great evil are vastly seductive, difficult to escape, and ultimately suffocating), Wise Blood by Flannery O'Connor and The Devil All the Time by Donald Ray Pollock (try as you might, you can't outrun God). (SERIOUS trigger warnings for the last three-- violence, sexual abuse and assault, all the grotesqueness that comes with southern gothic-- basically assume if there's something bad, then it's in one of those books.)
I think I'll call it there. Sorry I quickly abandoned answering your question and instead spent most of the ask on "here's a book you should read. here's another book you should read" but in my defense. you should read some of these. what you read ripples out into what you write, and these are some of my favorites, so that should count for something, right? lol maybe not but thank you for asking anyway because this was fun.

Dear OBX fandom,
I'm writing this 100% because it's night time and I have no filter. You need to fandom better. I'm going to say some things that are going to rustle the feathers on both sides, but at least try to understand what I am saying. TW: mention of dark themes like non-con and incest.
You need to properly trigger warn-tag your shit. This is a lot more serious than just being the fun police. Not everyone and their grandma wants to read your non-con, incest, step-cest, gore fest, and so on. You can write whatever you want. The world is your oyster. BUT you need to be respectful to others. On Tumblr, that means adding appropriate trigger warnings then adding your work under read more. On Ao3, that means adding the appropriate tags. Fandom is community, whether you like it or not. Meaning we all have to do our best in creating a safe space. Doing that MEANS TAGGING and TRIGGER WARNING YOUR SHIT. If you can't play accordingly, you're not going to be welcomed in the sandbox. You'll still be on the playground, but no one is going to want to play with you. It takes two seconds to add...TW: Non-con, abuse, incest. Even just having a pinned post that says, "writing on this blog contains......" and then writing simply on your writing. "TW: Please refer to pinned post for all triggers". Though, it is nicer to add actual warnings. And I cannot stress the importance of "read more". No matter what, you should have a read more. Especially if...A. you're writing is longer than a 200 word drabble and B. if it contains triggering themes.
On the flip side, you cannot censor what other people write because you don't like it. You can 100% be angered that people are not appropriately tagging their shit. Just as it is their right to write it, it is your right to have the option to ignore it. However, I am seeing a lot of mass posts calling for censorship and that is not okay, either. "You can write non-con, but I will shame-" No....That is not how we work. That is not how fandom EVER worked. People have the right to write whatever they want, and guess what? They don't ever have to justify their reasoning to you. "You can write non-con, but it has to fit within-" No. "We can write these dark themes, but they have to be as a plot tool-" No. Why? Because censorship does not work "just a little". "You're gross for writing-" no. "I'm not going to shame, but totally going to shame-" NO.
AS LONG AS PEOPLE ARE TAGGING and TRIGGER WARNING THEIR SHIT, THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO WRITE IT. It is not up to you to play the censorship police. It does not matter why someone writes it. They have the right to write it whether or not you like it. Just as you have the right to skip on by, they have the right to write it. Let's keep censorship out of fandom, please?
TL;DR: ON one end, all of you not properly tagging your work whether on purpose or not, please start tagging it and trigger warning it. It's an important part in keeping fandom spaces SAFE FOR EVERYONE. On the other end, just because you don't like certain themes, doesn't mean you have the right to censor people. As long as people are appropriately handling it, you have no right.
Okay, phew. Nova is done.
PS: Also, STOP FUCKING COPYING PEOPLE. If you get an idea off of someone, the right thing to do is message that person and give credit.

I totally understand your opinion about amc Lestat but don't you think this could just be Louis' perspective on him? Or Claudia herself? They portrayed Lestat as a demon in first book, I want to give a chance to the 2 second , the show plays a lot with things from point of view and memory, I think people are giving up too soon...
I've talked about this before, but it was over a year ago now so I'll explain again.
While I understand where you're coming from, I honestly don't think it would matter to me. Even if what happened in ep 5 was 100% something Louis or Claudia dreamed up, I would still have major issues because:
Even though ep 1 had a content warning for Paul's suicide, there was absolutely nothing before ep 5, something that the viewers had established trust with the creators to do. I think there's one now on AMC+, but that was added weeks later after backlash. The showrunners doubling down and the episode director almost mocking fans who were upset was incredibly tasteless as well.
The story as pitched by the showrunners feels very much like bait and switch false advertising. It was pitched to the viewers as a gothic love story that was "the most faithful adaptation of IWTV ever". Not to mention the insane tonal shift into something that moved from fantasy violence against NPCs to brutal domestic violence and the vampire version of sexual assault. Anyone coming from the books had no reason to anticipate this dynamic between Loustat, nor would anyone who checked out the source material prior to see if they would be okay with it
If they go the "Louis/Claudia imagined this/made it up/misremembered the events" route, I think that's a questionable at best and offensive at worst narrative to put forth about domestic violence victims since the showrunners seem to not see anything wrong with it. Portraying it is one thing, not seeing how presenting domestic abuse as "the fallibility of memory" is pretty messed up is another
Especially considering Rolin Jones' comments after one of the episodes that he wanted to "play with race" as a white man, I find the ep 5 events combined with the dynamic in ep 6 gross as hell. It's explicitly referred to as being like a master/slave relationship, that's insane considering the stated goal of the show was to make the story modern and racially aware. Obviously AMC wants Loustat to be romantic endgame, but they're starting off with a white man basically owning his black partner and child like animals
My problems with the episode also extend to Claudia's sexual assault. Again, not something that was in the book at all but rather added by a white male creator because I guess that's the only way women are allowed to face adversity in media. Claudia is already an incredibly tragic character, that was absurd to add for what, drama? Having Daniel make cruel comments about it to Louis and having Lestat (a canon sexual assault victim) mock her for it is the cherry on top.
Overall it was just a really shitty thing for the creators to do no matter what the ultimate outcome. Several of my good friends who are book fans were extremely triggered by the scene and totally blindsided by something that felt completely gratuitous and honestly like shock bait to be edgy and generate social media buzz. Again, unbelievably tasteless.
I don't have any faith in the good intentions of the creators anymore, and that sucks because there were a lot of good things about the show before that.

Summary: Clarke is desperate for a place to hide and believes sheā€™ll be safe working at remote Skyheart Ranch, Montana. She didnā€™t count on gorgeous cowboy, and her new boss, Bellamy Blake immediately falling head over heels for his mysterious new employee. Clarke might not be ready for love, but Bellamy is more than willing to wait for the woman of his dreams.
First - Hey, a new story! Please, please, please come read a modern AU about Bellamy of the Cowboys & Clarke of the Mysterious Past! šŸ¤ šŸ„šŸ‘¢šŸ“
Second - So, uhā€¦this technically isnā€™t a new story. This is a Bellarke-ified version of a book I wrote years ago. I realize itā€™s incredibly weird to change a novel I wrote into fanfiction but Iā€™m still struggling with writerā€™s block & Iā€™m hoping working on this will help me. Even if it doesnā€™t, I have a serious soft spot for this story, so Iā€™m pretty excited to introduce it to a brand new audience while adding some of my favorite characters from The 100.
Third -Ā PleaseĀ be aware of the trigger warnings. I originally wrote this as a sort of therapeutic outlet to address issues from my past I never really dealt with. There are some heavy issues discussed in the book & I know these could easily be triggering to some people.
Fourth - Iā€™ve gone back and forth on whether or not to include the link to my original novel. (Honestly, if you read it, youā€™re going to end up spoiling the rest of the fanfic, which is a bummer.) Iā€™ve finally decided Iā€™ll include the link to the actual book at the end of the fanfic because Iā€™m selfish & donā€™t want people to stop reading once they know the entire story.
And fifth - Congrats for reading this ridiculously long post! I do understand not a lot of people are hanging out, reading Bellarke/The 100 fanfics, so Iā€™m really hoping anyone who finds this will repost & help signal boost the story. One of my favorite things about fanfics is reading comments & interacting with my readers, so I need help making sure people who are still in the fandom can find this story. Please know I appreciate beyond words everyone who shares, comments, leaves kudos, etc. You all are amazing šŸ„°

i was the person who submitted that thing on gvftea and although i still think that kind of thing isnā€™t really right to write about unless itā€™s addressing the characters abusive behaviour instead of brushing past it and giving him a happy ending without consequences, i feel really bad that you took the whole story down as a whole. iā€™m sorry if i hurt you. that wasnā€™t my intention. again, i still believe angst and strong themes have an important place in literature, but my intention was mostly to raise a bit of awareness about making sure trigger warnings for domestic abuse and violence were written instead of just ā€œthrowing thingsā€ and ā€œangerā€ as those actions depicted were rooted in deeper things (although i still was still quite rude and i apologise for that, i shouldnā€™t have been mean about it). it obviously isnā€™t my place to pry especially since you probably hate me, but i truly hope (for your sake) that you havenā€™t or wonā€™t be treated that way and to only think it was because someone was angry instead of because they were being physically abusive and violent towards you, and i worry it may come across that way to other readers too.
again, iā€™m sorry i hurt you. iā€™d like to see it up again if you re uploaded and edited it (the trigger warnings) to be easier for readers to navigate without being exposed to stuff like that
I really wanted to answer this privately but I don't have the option to on my phone or my laptop, which is odd. I thought I've done it before with anon messages, but maybe I'm remembering wrong. Anyways..
I want to start by saying that I appreciate you coming to me directly and not going back to the blog like I've seen some do in the past. I also want to clarify that I do not hate you at all. I just don't like the way it was put it out there, though I 100% understand that you wanted to bring awareness to it. As you should, I completely get it. I just wish you would have come to me first and not gone straight to the blog. I won't ignore you. I won't delete your messages. I do see that it would bring a lot of awareness to it, considering that blog is popular--for a multitude of reasons..
I should have worded my trigger warnings better. I've seen this happen in the past so I've been trying my best to add trigger warnings. I have in the past said to tell me if I missed anything to let me know so I can add it, I try to say that now. Sometimes I forget but it's always welcomed. I know it's a big trigger so I should have added it without having to be told. At the time I didn't think of it that way, but I should have thought of it that way and added those trigger warnings.
Still, I do apologize for it coming off as being brushed off and giving no consequences for the actions that were displayed. There wasn't any consequence except for me writing that he knew it was wrong, and I should have done more. These actions, whether written as a fictional story or happening in real life should come with consequences, I agree. I don't condone domestic abuse, and I should have written it better which is why I decided to take it down. Even with the updated trigger warnings, I don't want someone else to think this kind of abuse is excusable or anything.
I'll be honest, I wasn't hurt, a little taken by surprise. I've never had this happen to me before so I have been processing my own feelings and how to go about this. I have decided to step back (at least with writing) for a little bit to go through everything--my own feelings, how this could affect other people, and how I can do better. Definitely not playing the victim card here, because I realize I should have done better with my warnings and I will continue to do so with any future fics I choose to share.
Again, thank you for coming to me. I do appreciate it. Continue doing so anonymously in my inbox or even messaging me privately.

How we feeling ladies and gays???
Lara Croft's impact as a pop culture icon is monumental, transcending her origins in the Tomb Raider video games to become a symbol of female empowerment and representation. She was one of the first major female protagonists in gaming, breaking ground in a male-dominated industry and becoming the face of one of the most successful franchises in history, now with over 100 million units sold. Her character has earned multiple Guinness World Records, including "Most Successful Human Video Game Heroine" and "Most Recognizable Female Character in a Video Game." Beyond gaming, Lara successfully transitioned to Hollywood, portrayed by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander in major films, further cementing her mainstream appeal. Lara has also become a merchandising powerhouse, with action figures, comics, novels, and brand collaborations. Her character evolved over time, especially in the 2013 reboot, to focus on her emotional depth, intelligence, and resilience, making her a symbol of empowerment for women worldwide. Lara Croftā€™s legacy has influenced not only the gaming industry, where she helped push the boundaries of storytelling and character-driven narratives, but also popular culture at large, where she remains an enduring icon.
We did it!
And of course, we have to talk about the next three games getting remastered too!
I'll be VERY honest with you, I straight up did not expect to see Angel of Darkness. I thought they were never ever gonna touch it again, and I wasn't even sure about Chronicles either, I thought that since they didn't do all five of the PS1 games together, the chances of them either doing Last Revelation & Chronicles or TLR alone were still slim. But it's one of the times that I am very glad to have been proven wrong!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As much as the Core purist community has made me retroactively wary of this era of the franchise, I understand and appreciate that these games still mean a lot to many people who are very normal and don't go out of their wave to make everyone else feel miserable, so to those people who had been fighting for AoD's return for so long I say congratulations, you deserve this, we all do.
Possible SPOILERS?
From what we can assume from the leaked Xbox achievement list, they are adding the Times Exclusive level in the Last Revelation, a very weird and very exclusive PC DLC that they released back in the day, sponsored by the London Times of all things, to commemorate sixty years since their coverage of the opening of Tutankhamen's tomb, no I'm not joking, and also adding back the dual pistols and corner shooting in AoD, stuff that were ultimately cut from the final version of the game. This could possibly mean that Angel of Darkness and Chronicles are not just getting a shiny new look but also possibly getting their very-well-documented game-crashing bugs fixed which is great.
I am very much willing and hoping to approach Chronicles and Angel of Darkness with an open mind and see if, with the new tweaks, they are not so bad after all. Neither of them are terrible games, only mediocre at worst, because even at her lowest, Lara still serves, but still, I think it's safe to say that this was, objectively, the lowest point in the series.
Now, I personally would hope that they will see it worthwhile to remove the cutscene where underage Lara is almost seen topless in Chronicles or is groped by Kurtis in Angel of Darkness, but I don't think they'd go that far. Still, a simple trigger warning like they did for the racist depictions in TRII and TRIII won't cut it this time.
But we're here to celebrate! Fingers crossed they add her opera dress in Chronicles, like they did for that horrid leopard print suit in Nightmare in Vegas, that would be an actual serve!
Also, this announcement only cements one thing in my mind... Next year in October we're celebrating the announcement of "Tomb Raider VII-VIII-IX Remastered, starring Lara Croft" and I swear, I will never shut up about it when it happens! Hopefully we we even get Guardian of Light too... Who knows!

Watched the first episode of the PJO TV show and I have Thoughts.
Warning: this is long, entirely too nitpicky, and written like an English essay (sorry). It also isn't wholly positive so there's that...
I've come to accept that we'll probably never get a perfect adaptation of PJO but that doesn't mean I'm not slightly disappointed by the amount of small details that were omitted or outright changed for the television show.
It's very minor, little touches that at first appear insignificant or trivial but ultimately lead to a watered-down story and an experience that lacks the depth the books have.
The first thing that comes to mind is when Percy pushes Nancy Bobofit into the fountain. Not only could we have avoided the Disney Effect Budget rearing its ugly head, having the ambiguity from the book would have added a great layer of mystery to who Percy is and what his powers are.
In the books, Percy doesn't see Nancy go into the fountain at all. He states, "I don't remember touching her, but the next thing I knew, Nancy was sitting on her butt in the fountain" (9). I'm no film director, but a good way to interpret this scene might have been to have a quick cut - like implying that Percy blinked and she was in the fountain - instead of showing her being Force pushed into the fountain. It keeps Percy's powers ambiguous and continues to build up intrigue. It's about the suspense of that moment, rather than showcasing Percy as a demigod early.
Another detail I wish they'd left alone was the timing of Percy learning that he's a half-blood. I understand that they wanted the explanation to occur early in order to keep viewers watching and have them understand the premise but I think it was a mistake to have Sally bring it up on their trip to to the cabin because it ruins the tension. It's implied in the books that Sally knows something happened to Percy at Yancy, but she doesn't want to push him on it. And Percy doesn't want to mention it because he doesn't want to cut their vacation short: "But I couldn't make myself tell her. I had a strange feeling the news would end our trip to Montauk, and I didn't want that" (40). This is EXCELLENT characterization. We can tell that Sally is stressed, that this cabin is her escape. Percy mentions, "As we got closer to Montauk, she seemed to grow younger, years of worry and work disappearing from her face" (37). Percy, sweet, kind, Percy doesn't want to ruin his mother. He knows this trip means a lot to her, that it's a brief moment away from Gabe and the complications of her life and he doesn't want to take that away from her. It's STRONG characterization and allows us as viewers to see Percy as something more than a trouble kid; he really loves his mom. Having Percy learn about being a half-blood at the cabin helps expedite the plot but it takes away from a genuinely sweet and good moment for him, takes something away from his character.
I'm not even going to talk about omitting the Fates I'm going to admit full stop that seems weird to me. It's such a small detail, could've been like a ten second scene that adds to the weirdness and mystery but they just didn't?? Go for it?? That's fine. (Honestly they probably should've cut out Grover telling the principal that Percy pushed Nancy into the fountain and replaced it with the Fates but hey. I'm just a uni student).
My final gripe about subtext erasure from the television show is, of course, Gabe. I can absolutely 100% get behind the idea of why they turned down the implications about Gabe. This TVLINE article by Keisha Hatchett contains interviews with the crew of the PJO TV show and in one of them, Rebecca Riordan explains that, "When you see it visually, it is triggering and difficult to watch. That is why we came at Gabe in a different way, because this isnā€™t supposed to be a horror show." I can absolutely agree that toning Gabe down was the right choice, especially considering the age range for the television show. I just wish it had kept a bit more of the subtext. Having Gabe shake Percy down to cash might've been a little much but there were smaller details in his conversation with Sally that could've been kept that would've flown over kids' heads but had allowed more mature audiences to realize that Gabe wasn't just your average douche.
In the books when Sally asks to go to Montauk, Gabe asks, "So this money for your trip... it comes out of your clothes budget, right?" (35). As a child, the implication of this completely and totally flew over my head. Even as a high school student this line didn't seem weird to me at all. It was only now, in my last year of university, as I was rereading the series, that I thought to myself, "That's so controlling wtf." To imply that Sally, a woman with a job, is being financially controlled by douchebag Gabe is pretty chilling and although it is undoubtedly still abuse, it's also something that I think wouldn't go too far. As it stands, Gabe feels a little bit toothless and if they stick to his canon fate, it'll feel a little bit unwarranted. In that same TVLine article, John Steinberg mentions that, "When youā€™re reading a story, you can read past the parts that could be upsetting if youā€™ve stopped to give them more thought. You donā€™t really get to do that with the show. Itā€™s all in your face and itā€™s all presented in a much louder way.ā€ I think that even keeping just this one line isn't too "in your face" but still gets across how much of an absolute jackass Gabe is.
I also think that although it was a strong choice to have Sally stand up to Gabe immediately, I do have a bit of an issue with her characterization. One of the first paragraphs you get when you meet Sally is Percy specifically stating, "I've never heard her raise her voice or say an unkind word to anyone, not even more or Gabe" (33). The books make it a point to show that despite Sally being on the quieter side, it doesn't mean she isn't an absolute badass. She's calm, rational, and cool during the Minotaur scene and then of course kicks ass during The Battle of Manhattan. The books have proven over and over again that Sally's kind, sweet nature is a strength and not a weakness. I can absolutely get behind seeing this side of her earlier in the TV show, I'm just concerned that they're forsaking her softer nature for something more "cool mom." Part of what I like so much about Sally is her kindness, the way she seems to be the embodiment of a warm hug on a hard day. It's not the vibe I got from her TV show counterpart.
Okay that's it, that's all my grievances. I've only seen the first episode and despite this mega page of my negativity I still think that the show is pretty good! It's infinitely better than what we got before and I can tell that there's so much passion and love put into the show. The young actors who are portraying the starring roles are absolutely brilliant, they're killing it, and I hope they have a bright future. I think the show looks great considering it's a Disney+ show (I've seen your special effects, Mouse) and I genuinely hope that the show is enjoyed by old fans and new ones. My brother said, "Hey, the first half was pretty cool" before the pacing kinda nosed dive off a cliff - high praise indeed.
I'm probably still going to watch the show, just to sate my own curiosity (though I'm probably NOT going to write another English essay on why I wish we'd kept some subtext) and I hope that everyone who's sticking with the show enjoys it. I don't think it's bad by any means, I'm just a pretentious literature nerd and this is how I digest media.
So yeah, here's to another decade of Percy Jackson!

Okay, wow, so a bunch of new people followed me. Hi! *waves shyly*
So just for a little Podcast 101 introduction:
My name is Jennifer and Iā€™ve been doing this podcast since the very last day of 2015. Iā€™m a neurodivergent bisexual with a very cute beagle mix named Professor Pancakes. I like road trips, gay romance novels, and little crafty things like paint by numbers kits and mini DIY dollhouses. My personal Tumblr is @trollprincess.
Each episode of the podcast is focused on one disaster in particular, although I do sometimes stretch one disaster over multiple episodes if necessary. For example, not long ago I covered the Grenfell Tower fire, which took three episodes. Iā€™ve also covered tangentially related emergency organizations and groups like care teams and the RNLI.
I wish I could say I get an episode out a week, but I have two other jobs, one full-time on the weekends and one part-time during the week, so episodes come out when they come out. To get them early, I have a Patreon for the podcast which can be found at the link below. I post episodes there as soon as I record them, and theyā€™re also ad-free there.
My definition of ā€œdisasterā€ is pretty broad. I will cover anything from shipwrecks and plane crashes to financial disasters (ā€œCatsā€ the movie is on my request list) to DashCon. Yes, I did an episode on DashCon. I couldnā€™t resist. (Itā€™s episode 132, fyi.)
As an addendum to that, I also cover mass shootings. (Itā€™s my podcast, I make the rules.) The rule for me on covering mass shootings is that the shooterā€™s name will only be mentioned once, if that, and that each victim will be named if possible.
As an addendum to THAT, disasters and tragedies can be very difficult subject matter. Please understand that episodes may feature death and destruction and decide accordingly if listening to each episode will be good for you and your mental health. I provide more specific trigger warnings at the start of each episode if necessary, but I will completely understand if a new episode is not something youā€™re comfortable listening to and youā€™d rather go watch Taskmaster or something.
There will be mentions of politics in episodes, but very much because emergency declarations, evacuations, regulations, etc. are an important part of disaster response. I also talk about mental health a lot, both for my own sake and to normalize talking about it. Like I said, difficult subject matter.
I am not a conspiracy theory sort of person. Donā€™t expect me to use the phrase ā€œfalse flagā€ with anything other than sarcastic disdain.
You donā€™t have to start at the first episode! Honest. The first episodes of a podcast are almost a mess with people trying to find their footing, and this one is not any different. Iā€™m not perfect, and I make mistakes, but Iā€™m totally up for correcting myself if I screw up.
Every hundredth episode I cover a fictional disaster like a real one. Episode 100 was the attack on Nakatomi Plaza, and Episode 200 was the events aboard Trans American Flight 209. Iā€™ve got a while before I decide what to do for episode 300.
Episodes Iā€™d recommend: Iā€™m very proud of episode 170 about United 93 (I read and watch everything I can get my hands on about 9/11, but I donā€™t plan to cover the whole event on the podcast because with the way I cover disasters, itā€™d be twenty episodes long at LEAST). I also very much recommend Episode 72 on the ā€œTwilight Zone: The Movieā€ helicopter crash, mostly because someone told me to stop mentioning American movies so much so I did a whole episode in which I mentioned as many movie set disasters as possible. Iā€™m also absurdly proud of myself for the Chernobyl series, because I never did finish the AIDS series and I learned I very much could pull it off. (I did mispronounce roentgen, but thatā€™s on me.)
If you listen to older episodes, I have taken requests in the past but I am currently on hold with those because my request list right now is at 62 disasters. (Yes, including ā€œCatsā€.) So give it a little bit and let me get a few more done and weā€™ll see if we can start those back up again. šŸ™‚
Thanks so much for being here!

Guide/Masterpost and introduction
Figured I should make one of these so here we go, I'm Wisteria but u can just call me Wisty or Wistie! ^v^
Idc about pronouns just don't call me he/him lol
I joined the octonauts Fandom like right at the start of 2025, and im just into making art and au's for the octonauts
My main au is going to be tagged "Misty Memories" for now
Some other tags u can use for my blog include:
My art (anything that I've drawn, from mini comics, main comic updates, etc)
Character design (my character design art for the octonauts characters+ ocs that often include lore about the character)
My comic (parts of my main comic for misty memories)
Yap post (any post that I either made or added onto and talked alot, these may have lore for Misty Memories)
Octo headcanons (these are usually silly posts that might contain some art, but 100% has different (usually) lighthearted headcanons about character dynamics, habits, past, and etc)
Wisty responds<3 ( anything that i respond to from my ask box, so if u asked me a question anonymously and haven't seen a response u can check that tag! Also I might just take 1-2 business days to respond cuz I'm a slow processor or might be making art for an ask that just happened to inspire me:> )
Cryptid Kwazii AU (an au ill probably post about later in the future lol there's nothing under that tag)
I'll add more tags if needed
Also feel free to send me asks! You can ask me anything about octonauts or my au! U can also request art but I cant promise ill make it, at least not right away anyways lol
I guess DNI and general rules under the tags?
Also if ur the type to hate on minorities or people with mental disorders and disabilities please don't bring that energy to my blog. I will not tolerate anyone who isn't supportive of Palestine.
I also don't want people arguing over ships or whatever under my posts, if yall have beef please do it someplace else. Please do not involve me in any Fandom drama that may occur I do not need the anxiety or stress.
This blog isn't for drama, hate, political issues, or anything else. This is meant to be a safe space for me (and anyone else who happens to like my art) to enjoy octonauts ans maybe the occasional animal fact post.
If there are irl issues that I dont post about its because as mentioned before, this isn't what the blog is for and also because I have anxiety about posting/reblogging about certain topics.
Don't approach me with the intent of a romantic relationship.
I am an adult but I dont feel comfortable with any sexual comments towards myself or my artwork.
Do NOT repost my artwork even if you credit me. If anyone sees that happen please let me know.
Some of my art will contain trigger warnings, any artworks that I feel are more likely to be triggering (such as those containing blood) will be put under a tag such as "tw blood". If you see that any of my artwork of posts contain triggering topics I haven't tagged please let me know.
Idk if it'll ever happen but if anyone wants to draw their own art for my au that's fine, just make sure of ur drawing art that is associated with my comic (aka using my character designs or plot points) to give me credit šŸ‘
I dont wanna sound egotistical or assume but like ig I should mention that cuz I've seen other artists talk about it lol
also IN MY AU MANY CHARACTER ARE ARO OR ACE ASPEC
This includes captain barnacles and kwazii! I ship them as a queer platonic relationship or QPR. So its fine if u tag my posts with their shipname-
But please understand i don't feel comfortable with their relationship being seen in a sexual/highly romantic way, at least not for MY AU.
I dont care about what other people ship but please don't force social norms about romance and etc onto my aro ace depictions, thank you.
My au is very important and personal to me, so purposefully twisting it to something else just because u don't like mental health depictions or aro ace experiences is kinda yuck yk?
If u wanna share ur own thoughts and etc in comments then thats fine, I love that stuff, but I just DONT WANT TO SEE
"LOL hes not even autistic though" or " they are so into eachother just make them kiss already" or ANYTHING of that sort
Okay sorry if this bit sounded aggressive or whatever hrjrhdnsbskdnf I love to hear different ibterpretations but I just can't stand ablism and etc

Okay so I said I'd try to write something up today, but it will probably be kind of jumbled. Tbh mostly a vent post.
General warnings for: the shitty side of disability, ablism(i think, adding just incase), mild descriptions of tics and tic attacks, self injurious tics, and probably some other things that I can't think of rn but will update if I do.
āš ļø everyone with Tourette's or tic disorders will have different experiences, this is just mine.
In general, I always say laughter is how I best cope with my tics, but that's been really hard lately.
Over the course of maybe 2 weeks, I've had at least 5 major attacks, most of which is happening in my home, which is where I would usually go to STOP attacks. It's been storm season, my neighbors think 4th of July is month round, my house is getting some repairs, my mom has moved back in with me, and one of her dogs is a puppy. I don't want to say behavioral issues bc she is just a puppy, but she is a chronic chewer and has destroyed quite a few things, as well as being āœØļøveryāœØļø vocal. There is also the general chaos of introducing 2 dogs into a household of 2 cats.
I'm sure I've mentioned it but big triggers for my tics are stress, anxiety, general discomfort, and lack of sleep. Sudden loud/sharp noises will also set them off. I'm of course getting hit from every trigger, constantly, for the past few weeks. Doesn't help that the heat index is 100+F (37.7C) with 80% humidity and I'm on three meds that make me overheat faster than normal.
Along side the attacks I've developed new tics, and had the first urges for directly self injurious tics (I suppressed it and that seems to have stopped it but it was scary as hell). I've hurt myself while ticcing before, but it was always accidental. Like the tic wasn't to hit something it was just to move my arm and something was in the way. These ones however were meant to hurt me.
My new tics are also really frustrating bc they mess with my breathing (I'm already asthmatic and fighting a never ending battle with my lungs), and another one makes me feel physically ill bc it's like my abdomin flexes really hard and squeezes my stomach. I've also developed two new word tics. For comparison I usually get 5 or so new tics a year (ones happening over the course of multiple days, not counting weird one off days), 1-2 might stick around more than a week, and old ones sometimes fade out. I've counted 6 new tics and 2 new urges in just this month.
My family is trying so hard but really struggling to understand how to help/how to handle it. A big thing for me is headphones. My family is aware headphones on for loud things and that they are used to block sound. However, my grandfather will try to talk to me and ask me to do things despite being told I can't hear. I can read lips but he doesn't always face me when talking and when he gets frustrated it makes me anxious. So I either end up ticcing bc I'm anxious, or ticcing bc I had to take off my headphones while it was still loud. If he would just face me when speaking, or text me, or use gestures I would gladly help, but he doesn't think about that.
My mom and aunt also ended up setting me off at a family dinner. They tried not to but it didn't work and set me off multiple times. My mom was trying to tell my aunt about my new word tic and my aunt thought it was an old one. My aunt spelled out one of my tic words, thinking that would avoid triggering it. It still triggered but I suppressed it bc I didn't want to throw my pizza. My mom, thinking it worked, spelled out my new word tic, and set it off. Then one of my dumb triggers got mentioned and I ended up set off again. I know they didn't mean to do it but it really sucked šŸ˜…
My family also doesn't really understand that Tourette's is a developmental disorder and that it changes over time. My tics weren't really noticeable when I was younger and had a lot less triggers, thus not being diagnosed until ~17. So I get a lot of comments about how I used to be. "You used to love fireworks!" I know, I still do, I just struggle to watch them knowing that at any moment one wrong timing will set me off. "You never let things stop you before" you're right, I was stubborn as hell. I still am, I just have to be more aware that I DO have limitations. I push those limitations frequently and usually end up suffering for it. Even something like "they weren't this bad last year" like yeah, I know. I am HIGHLY aware that they are worse, idk what you want me to say.
My mom hasn't helped bc it feels like she simultaneously is putting me on a pedestal and being frustrated with me. She has tics, namely echolalia and responses to my tics, but isn't diagnosed Tourettic. She was having tics at work and told her coworkers what they are and that I have them, then follows it up with "being around you makes me feel more comfortable with mine" and I geuss it was meant as I seem at ease with my tics 90% of the time so she's getting more at ease with hers. Which is great of course, I love that she is letting herself be, but the other 10% of the time, when I'm having severe enough attacks that I can't do things, she seems upset that I'm not doing anything.
But bc I'm helping mom feel at ease, I feel weirdly guilty when my tics get me worked up. At one point I even voiced the wish to be "normal" (I hate that word but I was VERY distressed), and my mom was like "you are your normal" or "you don't have to be normal" which is all well and good, but I just threw 3 things in succession, slammed my hand into the window and ticced myself into a migraine. A part of me feels like I'm not allowed to be upset because this was the hand I was dealt and usually I'm really positive about it, so when I'm not positive it feels like a betrayal of myself? Idk how to explain it really. Like "how dare I get upset when my disability disables me! I'm supposed to be inspiration" Despite literally no one except my mom telling me that I inspire them to be comfortable with themselves. It makes 0 sense but I can't logic illogical thoughts into submission.
In conclusion- I'm fucking exhausted and idk what to do anymore. Sorry for the long ass post of me just complaining, ik it's not the greatest read. I hope its at least somewhat sensibly arranged bc i have no brain rn. If you stuck around to this point thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.
Also if you saw this post when I accidentally posted it unfinished and you came back, thank you so much, I really appreciate your patience.

Can we start a "don't feed the trolls" campaign where we teach young people not to engage with trolls at all? Cuz I don't think the current generation ever got that lesson, the internet changed so much and so fast that they weren't given the time to learn troll etiquette and I think the world would be a better place if we just reached out to people and kindly remind them that you Do Not Interact With Trolls, you don't laugh at them, you don't mock them, you don't defend yourself against them, you have to ignore them 100%, don't like or dislike their comments etc etc.
People hate on gen z so much because they don't know how the internet works or how to discern between genuine comments and troll comments, but like, that's not their fault?? They were never taught these things! They're literally kids and y'all treat them like shit because they don't know what you didn't teach them.
I had someone say to me "I just know you're gen z" after I left a comment asking for trigger warnings to be added to a video, because this douchebag read something they disagreed with and immediately assumed I had to be gen z, because only gen z is wrong, idk man it's fucked up.
You don't have to be their teacher if you don't want to, but be understanding, be kind, be patient. And if you really can't do that? Then be quiet, no one needs your negativity, especially these kids and young adults, they get enough of that from the rest of the world.
Be the person you wish you'd had in your life at their age. It's free to be kind.

She raised an eyebrow at him, when did she ever cause a simple scar? ā€œI donā€™t want to talk about it further, do I have time to check on Tate before going to my court?ā€ He nodded ā€œheā€™s being treated by Daverā€ she felt relieved, Daver was the best healer and telekinesis, if anyone could fix Tate, itā€™s him, the two headed together to the isolated infirmary, Daver greeted them, the queen noticed her brother was tied to the bed, she wasnā€™t pleased ā€œitā€™s for his own safetyā€ Daver explained, she nodded and took a seat next to him, caressing his cheek softly ā€œany progress?ā€ The man shook his head ā€œitā€™s complicated, itā€™s like heā€™s not one person, every time I communicate with him mentally Iā€™m met by someone differentā€
ā€œI donā€™t understand?ā€ The queen said looking at the healer ā€œwith Lancelot, he knows who he is, but he forced himself into forgetting, while Tate created several personas in order to protect himselfā€ he explained ā€œcertain events trigger one character more than the others, but never Tate, theyā€™re all trying to protect himā€ he added ā€œwell, keep working until you trigger Tateā€ She said as if it was that easy ā€œyour graceā€¦ if I trigger Tate, he will be mentally a unstable, he wouldnā€™t understand half of the things in this world nor recall any eventsā€ he said with concern ā€œcan you unite them? The five?ā€ , ā€œI can try but I donā€™t think itā€™s possible now with-ā€œ, ā€œthen trigger Tateā€ She interrupted, placing a kiss on her brotherā€™s forehead before leaving to the court.
She wanted to scream and cry, her brother was broken, literally broken into different pieces in his head, she headed to the court and put on a strong face, although Illian did a great job but most people wanted her guidance and reassurance, she later had a meeting with the generals in order to plan the upcoming war, she also sent people to keep her updated on her brotherā€™s state who seemed to be worsening instead of recovering, she returned home late at night, hoping Lancelot was asleep because the moment she was between these walls, she broke into tears.
Her luck was the definition of crap, her husband had heard her coming and came to greet her ā€œTarja?ā€ He asked as he saw her hugging her legs and sobbing, once she felt his presence she brushed away her tears and put on a brave face ā€œTarja, what happened?ā€ He asked, joining her on the floor, she shook her head ā€œitā€™s nothingā€ she forced a smile to comfort the bruised man ā€œwhy are you still awake? You should rest to recoverā€ She sniffled, pretending it was nothing ā€œI canā€™t sleep without you homeā€ he admitted.

ą«® MORS' PINNED POST 怰
hi, yā€™all! this isĀ mors.Ā Iā€™m a casual writer, roleplayer and editor for the harry potter fandom, and most of the content on my page will undoubtedly be about that. for some personal information: I'm a nineteen-year-old going to college for translation, use she/her pronouns (though they/them is totally fine as well), and have ADHD. I speak both portuguese and english fluently, so preferably interact in these languages? but feel free to use spanish as well -- I can probably understand it enough to give you a reply.
things you'll find here!
a lot of percy weasley content, a fair amount of going "wtf" at JKR's worldbuilding, and even more wishful thinking. i post edits and a bit of my writing every once in a while. I am 100% open to receiving prompts/ideas/requests for anything; and I would absolutely love to discuss theories or headcanons or whatever you want to send my way! I only ask that things be kept (mostly) sfw, though I don't particularly mind writing/reflecting on/discussing some heavier topics -- so long as they're properly tagged for content warnings. don't just hit my inbox with potentially triggering topics, especially if you're an anon.
my other socials!
instagram: @mors.mvrdre tiktok: @mors_mvrdre
roleplay!
I roleplay through discord. I'm literate to novella -- if you're unfamiliar or dislike the terms, it just means I usually write long paragraphs and prize correct punctuation and grammar -- and would prefer any potential partners to do the same. I won't roleplay with anyone under 17, and will probably push this to a minors dni blog next year when I turn 20. my main is percy (quite obviously), but I'm willing to play a variety of characters, so you need but to ask. I generally stray away from the golden trio, weasley twins, and especially james/sirius/draco/snape. however, I've been known to write both bill and charlie weasley, tonks, remus, peter and penelope clearwater. random info: ą«® strictly against just-nsfw roleplays; ą«® won't give out my tag until we've settled on what we're doing; ą«® the character restrictions mentioned above do not apply to my writing, i'm just not interested in playing them.
this post will probably be added onto as time goes on.

Harry is the ultimate Thinker/Changer, isn't he? He doesn't know who he is nor does he understand what society is, and (most of the time at least) he's struggling to find those out.
Harry Dubois (Thinker 4/Master 2, Breaker/Trump 2) is an Anthropomorphization Thinker. Any concept or object subjected to his prolonged focus and consideration will develop an ad-hoc independent sentience, which will then act as the mouthpiece for a flow of thematically appropriate psychometric readings, Real-time clairvoyancy, and vague precognitive warnings that he otherwise wouldn't have been able to arrive at.
When used on objects in passing, this generally takes the shape of one-off interjections. However, Harry has a Dauntless-equivalent ability to "invest" in his conceptual anthropomorphs, increasing the strength and accuracy of their insights, but also increasing their sway over his behavior; at extremely high tiers, his most strongly considered Anthropomorphs become capable of hijacking his body and inflicting flash-in-the-pan breaker-states. These breaker states all consist of "Basically Harry's normal Body but with a superpower," and never endure for longer than a couple of seconds. The Volition Anthropomorph provides immunity to Master-Stranger effects, The Pain Tolerance Anthropomorph diffuses damage taken over the next couple of days, the Drama Anthropomorph emanates a believability stranger effect, The Interfacing Anthropomorph provides a single burst of "do what I say" technopathy, and so on.
Harry's trigger event was waking up in the Whirling-in-Rags with total amnesia, learning from Klaasje that he was apparently a cop, and then stumbling downstairs to learn that not only was she completely serious, he was expected to resolve an incredibly gruesome and politically charged killing while completely unmoored from the world and his own past, with no one he could count on to explain to him everything he needed help with. The stark reality of seeing Lely's corpse caused him to trigger, causing the corpse to start cryptically answering his questions.
Harry's initial set of 25-ish "fully formed" personalities were constructed by his power in reference to aspects of his self-image that he'd formed before his amnesia; this is one of the monkeys-paw elements of the power, as it provides him with a line of continuity to how he thought about himself but doesn't give him a sense of how those aspects of his personality were prioritized or distributed, forcing him to constantly adjust the balance, over-or-undershooting in pursuit of the personality he "used to have." The other monkey's paw element is that the power is 100 percent in conversation with his overwhelming sense of abandonment, betrayal, and blame following the breakup with the Ex-Something, as well as his tendency to project and obsess characteristic onto things that don't have them. Now Harry is constantly accompanied by a parliament of beings who love him unconditionally, have his best interests at heart, and will never ever leave him, as long as he continuously obsesses over them and projects characteristics onto things that don't have them. He carries his gods around in his pocket. He'll always have someone in his corner. He'll always have someone to blame.
