Predictions/theories for The Magnus Protocol:

Alex will probably be playing Martin, but Jonny will probably not be playing Jon, at least not as we knew him. It was outright stated that without the Eye's influence, there might be little of Jon left, and when he took over as Pupil of the Eye he was clearly struggling to retain his personhood, so I can see Martin pulling some Last Centurion shit over the babbling body that used to be his boyfriend. Maybe we get Jon back, maybe Martin will be forced to let him go to save the world, but I doubt it will be just Martin and Jon right from the start.

The most obvious answer to the other redacted name would be Jonah Magnus, but I feel like that's too obvious? It's definitely got to be someone we know, but since this is an alternate universe, the options are huge. I'm not sure how it would work with the timeline, but I think Raymond Fielding is a good possibility. If something happened so Agnes didn't kill him, a major Web avatar being on the board just makes sense. (I might double check the timeline on this and come back to it, but that's my thought for now. It honestly could be anyone. I saw someone half jokingly say Leitner, which would be HILARIOUS, but unlikely.)

I really hope I'm wrong, but I doubt Bonzo/Bonzoland will have as much plot significance as the ARG made it seem. I think that was just a fun spooky thing for people to discover.

I think Gwendolyn Bouchard is probably a cousin of Elias, and I also think she's probably not a bad guy? That feels too obvious, plus, we don't actually have any reason to think the Bouchards are like the Lukas family or anything. The only one of them who might have had a tie to the Eye before Elias joined the Institute is his father. I think she's probably trying to figure out what happened to Elias, or maybe she even knows and is trying to stop it from happening to anyone else. I think she'll be an ally to the main characters, and a way to get to know more of the real Elias.

This is more of something I think would be interesting than something I think there's a strong chance of, but assuming we're correct about the spreadsheet with the children's names on it being from the Institute, and assuming 'Gerard Kaey' from the spreadsheet is Gerard Keay from TMA, I think it would be deliciously tragic if Gerry was taken from Mary (or she died, or was otherwise not the person raising him) and he was raised by Eric instead. We know he worked for the Institute, and honestly, the idea that Gerry got to be raised by the parent fandom has widely agreed was better, only to have a life that is just as bad or worse, really intrigues me.

"What a disappointment…"

Kukuri felt the rejected. Recognizing what is shining in her eyes, Shiro clenched his fist.

"After all, the story an amateur like me thought is useless..."

"What are you saying, Kukuri! That's not true! Your idea really helped!"

"That's right, Kukuri! Even the Ashinaka students never thought that of the story. It's not Kukuri's fault…"

Neko's eyes were also deeply disappointed. Shiro hastily said.

"Wait a minute! I'm not saying this scenario is bad, but for some reason…"

"Reason? What are the circumstances?"

"Look, did you say you were going to take this project to a producer at a TV station? It seems the person is quite excited and is already starting to get serious."

The Kuro thing is striking. Kukuri is an ordinary person, and Kuro and Neko are idols, but they are unfamiliar with the dynamics of the industry.

Shiro decided to give a brief explanation.

"In short, that person is a great person and we have to listen to him as much as possible. He was able to understand the purpose of the project that idols create from scratch, but I was able to set the conditions for it."

After a heartbeat and confirming that the explanation had penetrated the three of them, Shiro continued.

"That means all three "Silver Records" idols will appear. That is also the main role."

"Three people? That means…"

"Me, Kuro and Neko."

Shiro placed the stage paper on the chabudai and placed his palm on it.

"The producer wants to attract "Shirogin Records" fans to this drama. It is a bit weak just because it was created by an idol. Yashiro Isana, Kuroh Yatogami and Miyabi Ameno, will work together and will have an active role as the main role, fans will see."

The first person to buy into the explanation was Kukuri, who was not an idol at all.

"In this scenario, only Isobe Norigorou appears as the main role, right?"

"Yes. That's exactly the problem. There must be three protagonists. It doesn't matter what the form is, but I think whether to put it in a trio or combine it in one combination and incorporate the other in another form. If you don't get it, you can't let it go how is."

Kuro crossed his arms, Neko picked up the paper from the stage and Kukuri put her hand on her chin, and they each thought.

Seeing that, Shiro changed his mind.

Of these three people, Kukuri is not an idol, but they all look at the "front" correctly. Instead of swallowing the circumstances that Shiro spoke about and complaining about, they were starting to think about how to turn it into something that suits the circumstances.

If he just does what people tell him, he doesn't have to do that little trick. It is the planners, not the idols, who have to coordinate with the conditions.

However, at the same time, beings who are simply doing what people have told them cannot be called idols.

Idol. Human norms. What is defined as such in the book "Era of Yamato Idol" which should be targeted. The definition that Daikaku Kokujoji and Reisi Munakata proclaimed was, however, slightly different from what Shiro was looking for.

The idol Shiro aspires to is simpler and anyone can understand it.

Idols are the ones that entertain people and bring smiles.

And Shiro knows that people support idols because they are serious. They have real passion, not fake. A real smile. True joy. People can enjoy watching idols because they spray those things.

Then Shiro reached out and grabbed the stage paper.

"Well, will you let me participate in setting the stage from now on?"

"Shiro?"

Shiro smiled at Kuro, who looked at himself in amazement.

"Until now, I was dedicated to coordinating roles, but when I saw them, I wanted to participate, and if it appeared, there would be many things that I would like to do."

Kuro, Neko and Kukuri laughed at the same time Shiro said with a smile.

"Oh, of course! Give us your opinion!"

"Wow, let's all talk together! Enjoy!"

"So I have to make time for the meeting again, right? Oh, but can I do that?"

"Of course! Kukuri is a good planning advisor! Rather, we'd be in trouble if she wasn't on the team!"

Kukuri was happy and smiled at Shiro's words. Shiro looked around the faces of the three enthusiastic people and said clearly.

"Let's make this project absolutely interesting! Make it a drama that everyone, our fans and non-fans alike, can enjoy watching!"

"Oh!"

At the same time, Shiro powerfully occupied the cheers. It's been a while since I've tried new things. Thinking about that, Shiro took the red pen and started writing on the stage paper.

Almost a year has passed.

~ Final synopsis ~

Under the guidance of Detective Omusubi Yonesuke Tawara (acting: Yashiro Isana), whose reasoning power is increased 100 times by eating omsubi, and samurai Isobe Norigorou (acting: Kuroh Yatogami), who has traveled through time since the Edo period, they go after Kaito Neko Miyabi (acting: Mayabi Ameno).

Two people start an investigation to protect the treasure of the ancient Okome civilization "Ninigi no Tears" from Neko Miyabi. However, while investigating the ruins of the ancient Okome civilization, Yone and Nori are forced into a desperate rush to purchase someone!

The Fishing Roof Is Coming! The only exit won't open unless he breaks the code! Unsurprisingly, will the two of you become addicted to rice crackers?

"Nuooh!"

With an enthusiastic voice, Isobe Norigorou pushed his hands towards the fishing ceiling.

Even for the Norigorou samurai, it is not easy to withstand the strong pressure of the multi-ton upper roof. Sweat floats on the forehead due to muscle tension and the facial expression is distorted in agony.

His partner, Yonesuke Tawara, cried out sadly.

"Nori!"

"Break the code while I support you!"

Yone took a breath for a moment at the confidence of his partner, and then took it with determination.

When he opened the furoshiki trademark, he saw an extractor that stores omsubi and seaweed separately. Wrapped in crisp seaweed, Yone sat up straight and clasped his hands!

"Crispy solution! I'll have it!"

Yone opened his mouth wide and clung to the Omusubi. The pleasant sound of the seaweed crunching and the sweetness of the rice spreading in the mouth stimulate Detective Omusubi's cerebral cortex! Yone opened his eyes and began to crack the code etched on the door with the reasoning power that jumped 100 times!

(Yes! The four characters "rice" engraved on the door! This means "88" in one! Then the numbers that apply to the code are...)

Yone stretched his arms and quickly manipulated the twelve stone dials. The moment the eight and four crosses hit the dial, a loud sound echoed and the door began to swing open to the left and right. Yone looked back and screamed.

"Nori's exit has been opened!"

"Ah... the point!"

At the same time that he relaxed his arms, Nori ran off. Due to the recoil that had been suppressed until then, the fishing ceiling was approaching with tremendous force!

And…

It was only a second after Nori walked through the door that the ceiling and floor were completely glued together and the space for a rice cracker disappeared.

"Huh. We really barely saved each other."

"Thanks to you, Nori. If you hadn't done it in time, we would be lost."

In an ominous imagination, Yone shook himself. On the other hand, Nori reveals his anger and stomps on the ground.

"Neko Miyabi! Inviting me to buy like this is a 10 million cowardice! Next time will surely land you in jail!"

"No, that is not the case."

"Eh?"

"Neko Miyabi is a criminal, but she has never hurt anyone. Perhaps this purchase was prepared by someone else."

"Whom?!"

"I don't know... but he's a dangerous person who doesn't care about human life...!"

Nori's expression was strained. Yone turned his forehead back with a serious expression and turned toward the darkness that was creeping into the ruins.

"No matter who she is, you can't give 'Ninigi's Tears' to a person like that! Come on, Nori!"

"I understood."

And the two of them start walking into the dark. No matter what danger is there, they will never panic. Because Yonesuke Tawara and Norigorou Isobe are Omusubi detectives who love peace and rice.

"Great, great!"

The headmaster's voice rang out, and Shiro and Kuro stopped at the same time.

"Hmm.", Kuro exhaled. The staff rushed over and wiped away his sweat. He had to keep this sweat off before his next turn. Physical control is the most important task for an actor.

As he was leaving the set, the director stood up and greeted him.

"Great, Shiro-chan, Kuro-chan! As expected, the filming is fine!"

"Yes, thanks!"

"I'm glad."

Shiro waved his hand with a smile, and Kuro turned to the headmaster and bowed politely.

That fold is the reason why the role of "Isobe Norigorou" played by him became very popular. Very modern samurai are widely accepted, especially among the middle-aged.

"Now, next is cut 4 from scene 8! Neko, are you ready?"

"Yes, yes! Of course, Wagahai is always a blast!"

Neko in a Venetian mask replied cheerfully. Yone and Nori's rival, youkai.

She plays Neko Miyabi and is extremely popular with young people due to the gap between her and her usual life.

"3, 2, 1, Action!"

Along with the director's scream, Neko who has become Neko Miyabi stands on a telephone pole and laughs. Shiro whispered softly as he looked at her.

"It's been almost a year."

"Oh. I was wondering what would happen at first, but I'm still here."

There was a reason why Kuro was deeply moved.

"Crisp Solution! Detective Omusubi Yone & Nori! This drama was finally given that name. The setting was that a time-traveling gourmet samurai and a modern gourmet detective would work together to solve a difficult case, starting from the frame 15 minutes to midnight.

When they heard the news that the popular idol unit "HAKU ☆ MAI" would be appearing in a self-made drama, most of the audience reaction was "Are they sane?". Also, as an example, it was only accepted that the president, Yashiro Isana, could have started something strange.

However, contrary to expectations, "Yone & Nori" gradually increased in popularity.

The reason may be that "HAKU ☆ MAI" was originally popular with fans, it may be the three people who continue to act enthusiastically even though it is a night frame, and it may be a strange but attractive character.

Perhaps it was a terrible but uncertain scenario.

But Shiro knows the real reason.

That's because they were enjoying this drama. They do everything in their power to do and perform. People are drawn to her brilliance.

It has been a year since we started the project. "Yone & Nori", which started in the middle of the night, was finally about to enter the golden frame.

"One term is fine! Neko, thank you!"

"Yes, thanks!"

Neko hurried to run as she waved a smile. The bright smile is just that of an idol.

Shiro greets Neko with a smile.

"Thanks, Neko. The acting was really good!"

"Thanks! It's great, Wagahai is also excited. Oh, I'm always excited, right? Today is special!"

"Ah, I know."

"More than that, will we have a celebration with Kukuri after this? You haven't forgotten!"

"Oh. It seems that Kukuri has already arrived at the office. Let's tell her that we will head there when we finish the recording."

Since the beginning of the whole story, Kukuri has been involved in "Shirogin Record" as a manager and stage assistant only for this drama. Once, Shiro was half-seriously asked if she could enter the "Shirogin Registry", but Kukuri herself wanted to be a normal girl.

"Hey, Neko-chan. Can you watch the video, please?"

The director told Neko. Neko looked back, cheerfully replied, "Yes!", and went.

"Well Kuro. It's our turn again. Do you remember the lines?"

"It's natural. This is the scene I thought of."

With that said, Kuro walked to the set and fluttered.

"Thank you, Shiro."

Shiro tilted his head and asked.

"What did I do?"

"I thank you for bringing me this project a year ago. Without that, I wouldn't be on stage right now. I was just doing what I could, that's how I felt."

Kuro smirked as he looked at Shiro.

"Appearing in a drama. Creating a setting. It takes courage to try new things, but it's not scary with you either."

"Yes."

Shiro smiled and replied.

"But this is not the end. There are still many possibilities in front of us! There are endless things you can get hooked on and get serious about. Find them and look at them again. Let's challenge them together."

"Oh, it's true."

In front of Kuro and the others, the possibility of the lack of color is expanding. It has the potential to be stained in any color.

They will continue to make sure of that possibility one by one. That was the path of idols that Kuro found.

"Come on. All the staff and fans are waiting!"

"Yes! Let's do the best performance!"

Shiro and Kuro laughed at each other and proceeded to the dazzling lighting.

Ok ya, Alex clarifying that Jon isn't stupid he just makes poor decisions. Probably if he'd paused and thought about it (like I did lol, I had to go do some stuff in the middle of that ep and thought about it a whole bunch lol) instead of immediately going out and buying an axe and further isolating himself and panicking immediately he probably would have figured it out. This is why it's bad to panic in a crisis guys. 

Eyyy! Jonny's parents voiced Gertrude and Leitner! That's so cool. 

XD Jonny grumbling about having to work with his parents. 

Hmm, I hadn't really thought of Gertrude being like a mother figure in the story? She just seems very cut-throat I guess from what Leitner said. Idk so far I've been very suspicious of her. Especially since that one statement where her photo burned a whole bunch of people or something. She just seems very shady...

Side note, Every time there's a q&a I just can't stop noticing Jonny's voice going in and out of archivist range? Like most of the time I'm just listening along and then he'll say a sentence a bit grumblier and my brains immediately like "ARCHIVIST! That's THE ARCHIVIST!!"

Season 2 summary:

Uuuuu ya so this season was really good. I kinda listened to it in bursts of about ten episodes every couple weeks and then have been saving up the reactions to post later so these are usually going up about a week or so after I actually listened to the episode just FYI. 

I also do have a lot of spoilers cause I can't keep myself away from fanfic and people don't always tag for spoilers and I kiiinda wana know what's coming beforehand anyway? Idk it's hard man I get very stressed about what might happen and then also listening to too much at a time is too spooky for my poor little heart so I gotta read the less spooky fanfic to fulfill the hyperfixation you see. (If anyone has fanfic with spoilers only up to season 2 that'd be great btw) 

Anyway, I try not to take spoiler type stuff into account unless I'm just so sure of it I can't really not acknowledge that I know about it. 

Also, can I just talk about Michael for a minute?? Cause he's such a unique character? And I guess maybe there are other characters like him but I haven't ever seen one -tho to be fair tma is only like the third horror thing I've ever really got into (the other two are the SCP Foundation in its various forms and Little Nightmares. Hence why I keep making reference to SCP it's really the only thing I know similar to this.) But he's such a cool concept!!? Like someTHING that still has a personality? He's so not human? Like I get what he says but also I don't really? Idk im pretty sure he's an avatar right? Right?? Idk if that means he was a person at some point? But all this to say that he is probably the most inhuman character I've come across so far and I'm trying to figure out what it is about him that's so "other" to me? Like... I don't really know what Micheal's deal is? he seems to want to be sort of a neutral mischief-maker but also it seems like he keeps getting invested. But also I just love the way he talks about himself. Like he's a monster that has a personality and is fully intelligent but isn't just evil but isn't neutral either and certainly isn't benevolent. Like he's so complex and just,,,, the idea of a "thing" that's got a personality?? I love it? Kind of like dryads or spirits of things? Like the idea that after a long time things gain personality just by existing? Not that that's what Michael is necessarily? but that same sort of concept applies to him I think. Like the way he IS the maze and wants to help but wants to just watch but wants to kill them all. He's just so interestinggggggg. (And another vision of what jon could become?)

 also "es Mentiras" is a beautiful name 💕

So are him and not-Sasha avatars? Not-Sasha also seems completely inhuman and I was under the impression that avatars were (or used to be) human? Or are they like personifications of their power? Do all the powers have personifications of themselves. not-Sasha seems even less human than Michael? Like she seems to just really genuinely enjoy causing fear? Tho I guess we didn't really get to hear a lot of her. She just seemed kinda gleefully angry most of the time we heard from her. Was she... Human once!???

Anyway. Also, can I just talk about leitners line about jon belonging to the eye!!? Just..*chefs kiss* hnnnngg I need more jon grappling with that. I just need more everyone dealing with the fallout post all of the finallies ok? I still need more of jon angsting over his worms scars and stuff and now I also need jon freaking out about belonging to a fear god power thing. 

Also Martin! Is Martin ok? He sure did a lot of yelling which he doesn't usually? Look I love him and he actually thinks before he acts (unlike SOME people *looks at jon*) and he writes poetry and it is pretty good poetry ok!! And he cares about everyone and just wants a happy ending and aaaaa😭

Petition to get some statements from Martin's pov tho? I mean that's not gonna happen cause Jon's the archivist but I want more martin pov!! Maybe we can get some of his poem tapes??? Pls????? 

I feel so bad for Tim. It sounds like he's kinda fallen into despair.

Also Elias!!? Is showing his spooky side!!? He can control cameras and beat a man to death with a pipe!!? This is his "place of powerr"!!? I am afeared!!? At least jon knows he shouldn't trust him now. Oh jeez, I wonder if jon will listen back to the tape and know what happened. Thhhatsss rough. Oh dear, I hope he doesn't feel guilty cause Leitner did keep trying to hurry him and now everyone thinks it was him. Even martin thinks he did it? Wich like I kinda want to hear more of his thoughts on that? How much does he believe that jon did it? Tim certainly seems pretty certain but he's a bit biased and cynical right now so. 

And they were in the maze for DAYS? 

Now I need martin recovering from being stuck with Tim in Michaels maze for days being angry and worried and hungry etc... Dksjdksa knowing jon could be dying RIGHT NOW and there's nothing he can do. Please someone give me the fic links if this exists!! I've already written like 5 drabbles based entirely on spoilers/other fics (which I'll probably post (w/ links to their inspirations) once I'm caught up and can make sure I'm not just completely demolishing cannon lol. 

Leitner didn't even scream or yell or anything when he was murdered. Literally the chillest dude ever. F

Overall super great, Elias is terrifying, let's dive into the next season!!! I've got 2 seasons to finish in like, less than 2 or so weeks(?) if I wana be caught up by season 5 hhhh,,,

Dec. 16, 2016 - if grbookworm1818 is not someone at the Institute then nothing means anything / What do we think: Did Gerard kill his mother, or was she turning herself into a book and he just cleaned up the mess?

Dec. 29, 2016 - I kind of wonder if our antiquarian friend has any relationship to the guy in Amsterdam with the coffin. It can’t have been the same person, obviously - if nothing else it’s strongly implied that whatever was in the coffin ate that guy - but for some reason I keep expecting that story to come back, and not just Breekon & Hope.

Jan. 9, 2017 - Can we think of The Archivist as a title with meaning?  I know Rusty Quill uses it to refer to Jonathan Sims the character since the writer decided to use his own name.  But does it have in universe meaning as well?(@fedorasandstuff)

Jan. 12, 2017 - Also of concern: I’ve been assuming for a while that some of the factions in whatever supernatural chess game/cold war is going on were assuming that Jonathan as Archivist was roughly on a par with Gertrude as Archivist (actually, I’m pretty sure that some of them are not totally clear on the difference between one human and another, but it amounts to the same thing), and Jonathan has basically just admitted to Michael that he has no fucking clue what’s going on, and if Gertrude meant to leave him anything, he didn’t get it. (Except possibly some kind of protection on the Archive itself, which may or may not be directly her influence.) And we still don’t know if Michael is part of a faction or what any of the faction’s goals might be, except that Michael thinks that “this place” has an interesting impact on things and it doesn’t want that to stop just yet. Basically Jonathan’s just lost a card he didn’t know he could have played, which is almost definitely not good. [At least we know Jon isn't trying to manipulate anyone, he couldn't if he tried.]

Jan. 12, 2017 - And I’m kind of screaming internally? I have a few more headcanons now, I suppose? But mainly, the lightless flame/closed eye cult, seems to have it out for anyone associated with the seeing eye (and also Gertrude Robinson). Considering that Johann von Württembergs tomb and book collection also had the seeing eye as a symbol, I wonder if the Magnus Institute is somehow connected to the seeing eye as well. I have no idea where I’m going with this, or if there is some connection, but yeah. (@flammenkobold) [There are literally two notes on this post, my like and my reblog]

Jan. 12, 2017 - But my strong suspicion is that most creatures in this universe, and Michael especially, are not one of a type, they’re their own thing. But I do think that we’ve seen more of Michael than is immediately obvious. (More to come as I progress through the re-listen, but abandoned houses are…definitely a thing.)

[This one still hasn't been answered, wahey!]

I love that she’s not in denial but she’s coping pretty well – both about her father being a serial killer and about the supernatural. She’s pretty sure there’s something fucked up going on above and beyond the serial murder, but she’s happy leaving it alone, thank you very much, she just wants to get it out of her head so that she can move on with her life. I hope she’s still doing well.

Feb. 9, 2017 - new theory: everyone working at the Institute is a pod person. They hire potheads and dropouts and people with weird academic backgrounds and as soon as they get close to anything real they get replaced by beings from an alternate dimension, just like Not!Sasha. They missed Tim because he was out on medical leave after the attack; it’s just a matter of time now. Martin’s secret is that he’s been working there since 2002 and kind of knows everything and is not yet a pod person.

Mar. 1, 2017 - The new episode has me thinking again about the Observer - the presence in the Archives that Jonathan thinks has an opinion about what his opinion about statements is, also probably connected to the panopticon prison, the nurse who felt the thing watching her when Gerard Kaey was in the hospital, the open eye and/or the closed eye motif that keeps recurring, and whatever it was that caused Gertrude to cut the eyes out of pictures of people on her books. Specifically, it has me thinking about the observer effect - that sometimes things change when they’re seen. This is a major horror trope, although it’s not usually called out so directly: monsters that move only when you’re not looking at them, things that lose their power when they’re seen and named directly, things that can exist only in the darkness. (There’s a nice resonance with the Montorks for you.) Is there something Gertrude was doing that she didn’t want the Observer to know about, or that could only be done unseen? What is the Observer - is it a direct relic of the panopticon (it would make sense as a genius loci kind of like Michael) or was the panopticon built in response to it, or to summon it? Whose purposes does the Observer serve - is it allied with the Institute on the whole, or with any particular faction? Or is it like Michael in that it has its own purposes that everyone else has relatively little to do with? (That seems unlikely to me at this point; I think the Observer is one of the core story points of this season.) Is it watching for a reason, or does it watch simply so that things are seen and known? #the magnus archives #yep it's meta time #i'm becoming attached to the idea that the observer is there for the protection of the archivist #somehow

May 17, 2017 - As to the Archives and the structures it imposes…I’m starting to wonder if it isn’t just that the Archives won’t let them go, but if there is a specific set of roles that it needs filled. We know Gertrude didn’t have assistants, and I’m starting to suspect that that was intentional on her part. But what if the Archives doesn’t just latch onto people and refuse to let go of them? What if it needs there to be a skeptic, and a caretaker, and the paranoid one, and - is not!Sasha part of the Archives’ structure, or is she a disruption of it? I feel like finding out more about where not!Sasha comes from and what her goals might be will be a key turning point in our understanding of this whole mess.

June 29, 2017 - I do like the idea that there are people who basically cannot be fucked with, but then - why go to the Archives? She isn’t interested in a followup, she isn’t trying to process anything, she’s just sharing data. That screams pod person to me: something is trying to get Jonathan’s attention.

Kaey is MY original character and I will do with him what I think is best for him: full disclosure, all decisions are made by ME and enforced by ME and done for ME. So fuck it. I don’t care if he’s not neat or pretty or easy to understand. This is MY character and if you can’t appreciate the work and thought I have put into him then fuck off presently and leave me to myself.

So, a few things, as of RIGHT FUCKING NOW:

I will NO LONGER have starter calls. I now REQUIRE plotting to interact. It doesn’t have to be long and drawn out there just needs to be an understanding on how I will be presenting Kaey in interactions, who he is etc etc. Essentially I will be tailoring Kaey’s character to best suit your muse, universe, plot, etc.

Kaey is Trans-Masculine Non-Binary (shoutout to @wondcrkid for making me realize this was a thing that he could be, so bless you!). As far as everyone is concerned he is MALE and uses MALE PRONOUNS. What he does or doesn’t have in his pants is GENERALLY UNIMPORTANT TO WHO HE IS AND HOW I WRITE HIM AS A WHOLE. I will use male actors to portray him. If anyone ever has any recs for Non-Binary Native American actors I would LOVE to hear about them!

Kaey is Asexual. This is not new. The mun is Asexual. This is also not new. But, you know, it would be GREAT if people could like... actually acknowledge that. I don’t do smut. Smut is not gonna be a thing on this blog. Kaey doesn’t have a lot of sex, he does not think sex is required for a romantic relationship. Kaey has been in some fucked up relationships where his sexuality was disregarded and he was made to feel that he had to have sex to be a “worthy” romantic partner. This is no longer a thing. He is a confident asexual boi. I am a confident asexual gurl. End of story.

I’m gonna use a lot of different FCs, because I can, because different FCs represent different characteristics Kaey has, and different times in his life. It really is that simple.

Hi. My name is Murphy. I also go by Tesla. Call me by both, or whichever one. I’m gonna use a variety of mun FCs depending on my mood. Aizawa is a good bet.

Kaey is an assassin. This is a CORE PART OF WHO HE IS. I don’t care if it’s cliche, or overdone, it’s who he is. Fuck it. He was, generally, TRAINED to be an assassin, forced in his early childhood to learn how to kill and survive. This has fucked him up. He has some anxiety, he has PTSD, he is definitely a little depressed and probably has a lot of internal anger issues that have yet to be seen or fixed. He is a dark boy. He is capable, he can and will kill. THAT IS HIS CHARACTER. Know that, and respect it.

I’m not gonna try to completely justify his background, his prosthetic, his family, or any of that shit. It’s gonna be case by case. I may write a little meta that may or may not be relevant, or may at first be relevant but then not be as relevant anymore. THIS BLOG, THIS CHARACTERIZATION, IS A VISION OF PROGRESS. Things will change. I will adapt Kaey’s character as I see fit. I will correct instances if something is no longer true, or a detail has been altered in interactions. Accept that Kaey is an evolving character that I, for all intents and purposes, tailor to every plot, character, and universe.

Kaey has a prosthetic left arm. That’s it. It can be removed. It causes him a lot of pain, both physically and emotionally and like, in his life in general. You don’t have to notice it. You don’t have to write about noticing it. It’s honestly not that important. If it becomes important, or there is a time where you should notice it, I’ll let you know.

I no longer take shit. For a very long time I have worried about how people perceive me, how people like my character. I’ve been insecure, and paranoid, and bitter. I have kept my mouth shut, sat pretty, and let that all take over my RP. No more. I mind my own business, ya’ll mind your own business. I do me, you do you. If I have a problem I will address it, I will talk to you. I will unfollow, block, drop interactions, decide to delete asks, and everything else on my own whims. If I feel I need to say something about it I will. Otherwise? I do me, all I ask is that you respect me and my decisions. Honestly, I make it sound a lot shittier than it is going to be. Basically, the gist? I’m gonna be acting for my own benefit and security from now on. MURPHY/TESLA comes first.

Last but not least, I am, as a person, currently in a chapter of my life where I am trying to make changes. To better myself, my situation, and everything else. I am trying to be more positive, more forward with myself, and ultimately more conscious of what I need to be safe and happy. I may start doing things I didn’t before. I may change a policy that hasn’t been changed since I started RP. I may start acting differently, doing things I wouldn’t normally do, and discussing things I haven’t before. None of this is going to be problematic, I assure you. You don’t have to care about it, either, but I do ask that you respect my decision to change, support me, and let me come by it on my own terms. That’s all. That’s all I want from others. Just a little bit of understanding and patience.

This? This is a new year, a new me, a new choice. Get with it or get out of it. I don’t care. This is about me, this is about Kaey, this is about roleplaying and having fun. That’s it. End of story. Easy as fucking pie. Congrats, you are now privy to the revamp of this blog.

Okay but I think it’s high time I slapped down some of the realest shit that is a part of Kaeyonari’s character, the legit epitome of his development -- that shit is important!

Since it’s not really a big part of his personality I think it’s easy for people to overlook the fact that Kaey was born Dalish -- it would be so easy to change his entire character just by altering the single circumstance that Clan Thenaren was less fearful of having too many mages in the clan. If his people had been more accepting he never would have left his clan, because his sister never would have been forced to leave due to her magic.

If that doesn’t prove the importance of circumstance in a character’s development I don’t know what does, because that shit is real & it has affected every single person, alive & fictional.

Anyway: he was a sickly baby compared to his sister, his father didn’t think he would live, & at a point he told Ghilanis (Kaey’s mom) that it would be better to put him out of his misery & be done with it. But Ghilanis took care of him anyway, & seemingly against all odds Kaey grew into a small, shy kid. He depended on his sister for social & emotional support, he looked to her for guidance & protection & fuck it, Illenar was super protective of her “little brother”. For the earliest years of their childhood she took care of Kaey, & he relied on her for pretty much everything.

So their dad fucks off to join the Grey Wardens (this is before the beginning of the Fifth Blight mind you) & Ghilanis is taking care of the twins by herself while also acting as a healer for the clan & then she gets killed by bounty hunters when she helps out some (human) fugitives. Illenar becomes so biter & angry & she refuses to talk to anyone & Kaey is forced to take on the role of caretaker despite not having a dominant bone in his body. & goddamn it he takes care of his sister like she had always taken care of him, & when she develops magic in her rage he is so desperate to stay with her & protect her that he leaves the clan when she’s sent away. & for all those years after that they spent in Nevarra trying to survive he still took care of her, he had to become stronger to support Illenar & protect her & when she gets found out by Templars he gives everything they have to make sure she gets sent to a circle because fuck if he’ll let a couple assholes kill her or sell her into slavery.

Btw Illenar is FURIOUS about this & is super bitter about it for the entirety of her time in the Circle like she becomes even more hateful which is a thing of itself but like

KAEY HAS LITERALLY SACRIFICED SO MUCH TO TAKE CARE OF HIS FAMILY, HE LITERALLY FORCED HIMSELF TO BECOME STRONGER SO HE COULD PROTECT HIS SISTER & STAY WITH HER & MIND YOU THIS KID WAS SHY & ANXIOUS AF & HE BECAME THIS INTELLIGENT LITTLE SHIT WITHIN MONTHS LIKE DAMN

& from there we know he ends up a recruit to the House of Crows & do I even have to talk about how fucking horrible that was? All the bullshit he survived, & this tiny pre-teen boy just suffers through & pushes himself so hard not to get picked off because he’s going to get back to his sister no matter what it takes, he’s not gonna leave her to rot in the Circle. This once sickly little kid prevails against all the challenges of his recruitment & survives all the trials he’s forced through & kills his first person at the age of 12 & proves that’s hes fucking metal. Then, then, he endures another six years of training & torture & abuse & his mentor is pushing him every step of the way trying to break him down & he just doesn’t fold, he always gets back to his feet & he always spits the blood out of his mouth & he never backs down not once because if he does that he’s good as dead & that’s not acceptable, he can’t just die & leave Illenar alone.

& I mean, after he finishes his apprenticeship he’s this guy that wouldn’t recognize himself as a child. He’s this guy that isn’t anything like the kid that his father would have preferred to drown than let live. He’s still this small, quiet person but he’s got nerve & he never lets anyone break him down & he just wants to go home. But he suffers through! He endures! He survives! Once again, against all odds, this fucker pulls through & proves that he’s got grit.

By time he’s on his own, recruited by the Inquisition, he’s this reserved guy that doesn’t talk much, doesn’t express much, just wants to do what he can & find his sister. After 20+ years of being separated he still only has one thing on his mind: finding Illenar. & fuck if he hasn’t been overcome by his demons once or twice, if he can’t sleep for more than a few hours, can’t stand to be touched or to be asked about the hell he endured with the Crows.

Because he’s a survivor & that’s what he does, survive. Against all odds he’s still alive, 35 years later, & he’s nothing like the kid that was born to a Dalish clan in the Silent Plains.

THIS MOTHERFUCKER HAS GOT GRIT & HE’S A SURVIVOR & EVERY TIME HIS ENEMIES UNDERESTIMATE HIM HE SHOWS THEM HOW TOUGH HE REALLY IS

& maybe he’s a little bit broken, a little more sad, but fuck it he’s alive.

Season1 Q&A (+thoughts on s1)

So let's see what sorts of answers we get here.

Ok, so he's always known the ending for the most part...  That's comforting in some ways. He's not just going to give a throwaway ending just to end it. It's something he really cares about and is important to the story. (I might make another post on my thoughts about about the ending and it's promised tragedy but this post is already super long)

It's funny how Jonny's voice sort of drifts in and out of what I recognize as being the archivist.

Ok, so the institute has around 80-100 staff so about what I was imagining. Not huge, but not tiny either.

All around good questions. Good answers. Nice to hear a bit of behind the scenes :)

Alright, now for my thoughts on s1. Basically, I loved it. The voice acting is great, the characters(including the statement givers) are enthralling and diverse, and the writing is the best I've seen in a long while. I have so many theories and questions. 

Also, @confuzzledbean hinted at me to relisten to the ending of ep40 and it IS not-Sasha! The credits confirm it! So I'm assuming the same thing that happened to the guy in "Across the street" happened to her. It took her identity. So I guess I wasn't spoiled too bad for that cause I still have no idea how it's gonna play out.

Speaking of spoilers, and in the interest of clarity, things I've accidentally picked up on from the fandom so far: Peter Lucas and Elias are jerks, The fears have "avatars". Peter Lucas is avatar of the lonely?? Jon becomes avatar of the beholding at some point. Martin gets stuck in the lonely. Jonah Magnus possesses people?? Elias is also beholding related (is he also an avatar? Can there be more than one?) Jon can "compel" people to answer his questions or something... oh! And cows! There are good cows! I want to see them! 

What I've picked up on myself is that the Magnus institute might be protecting them? Or something about the archives is protecting them? Perhaps it's the thing that watches John. Cause the worms were slower in the archives. I also wonder why the true statements have to be tape-recorded. Is it something about the statements? Or something about the tape? Is John using tape that was already at the archives? Is he using Gertrude's leftover tapes? 

I also have a theory that the "fears" aren't just fears, they're also wants. Things aren't as scary if there isn't also something pulling you towards them.

For example, the hive represents the fear of being consumed vs the want to be loved. 

The beholding represents the fear of being watched vs the hunger for knowledge.

Etc. 

And now for my list of categories! I'm starting to think that not all of these are fears themselves but might be other sorts of organizations (like the cult and the library may serve or use power from multiple fears) and I've put some stuff in multiple categories cause I can't decide where to put it and some categories are listed under other categories and... Yea. This is mostly for my own reference but I thought some people might be interested.

Eyes/the beholding- the eye picture in "page turner", the necklace from "a fathers love" has an eye and a hand(perhaps a joining of two powers, one being the eye? Don't know what the hand would be), the dreamer from "dreamer"(cause he's being given knowledge), the burn victim from "first first" with the eyes on all his joints, the eye that appears for one frame of footage in "first aid", the meat pile the man upstairs made had eyes?, the grave from "Schwarzwald", the "gardener" with no eyes from "Schwarzwald".

Evil deliveries?- (the things delivered might be from different things but perhaps there's a spooky delivery system? They always look exactly like you expect them to.) the people who gave the do not open coffin, the students, whoever delivered the boxes in "piecemeal", the people who delivered the table and lighter to jon, 

the web- (really only been mentioned by name and alluded to being related to spiders but from what martin said it seems like it would be the fear of being trapped vs the want to be in control.) That one apple that turned into spiders on hilltop road, the spider who killed the arachnophobe, the lighter given to jon, the spider jon knocked over the shelves trying to kill, martin feeling trapped at the archives. 

Other-( stuff I can't categorize, perhaps deserve categories of their own later?) the "anglerfish", the piper, the reapers, the vampires, the midnight visitor from a sturdy lock, the "ghost" from skintight, the hunt, the disease from "taken ill"

     More people need to appreciate the fact that Kaey is a chill, compassionate, & open      person despite everything he’s gone through okay like this is so important

     Like, I know I write all this angst & I’m angsty in general but !!! Kaey is such a good &      pure bean capable of love & kindness & compassion. He overcomes. That’s who he      is !!! My boi is such a brave, empowered person but he doesn’t expect people to like...      commend him for that. He doesn’t need people to tell him he’s a survivor, because he      knows it. He’s just a guy who has struggled, still struggles, but still loves too & knows      there is goodness in the world & hope for humanity & I just !!! get so emotional

     Kaey’s theme, as a character, is getting up even when you don’t want to. It’s surviving      & living even though it’s hard. It’s overcoming, becoming better, using your trauma &      pain & loss as motivation to find better horizons & better people. It’s accepting that you      may be broken, but you’re still worthwhile & deserve good things. It’s neither lingering      on your hurt nor trying to forget it, it’s growing with it. & if you’ve ever been hurt, ever      been broken or lost of traumatized you know that’s not easy, but it is possible.

     I know I focus a lot on the darkest parts of who he is, & if you know me then you know      I have an angst addiction, but I really don’t mean to make it all about him & his pain &      suffering. I just want people to know he does suffer, has suffered, but he’s still such a      powerful & capable character. Kaey is angst but he’s also good.

ideas i am toying with:

kaey is ex-special ops, has a prosthetic arm, was assassin-for-hire now trying his damnedest to go clean, trying to become a paramedic, maybe some private security or bounty hunter work to supplement his income

kaey was raised as a hitman by his step-dad & was kinda forced into that life.

kaey was taken as a child & trained to be an assassin / thief / grifter. after several years he left, or rather ran, and has been in hiding since. low profile. trying his best.

proposed concept:

kaey is trans-masculine non-binary, navajo. mom died when he was really young. raised by his step-dad who essentially sold him & his sister into the life of assassins. gets trained. grows up. has some experience working with the military, mercenaries, spies, etc. primarily an assassin, also a grifter/thief. has love for marksmanship. runs. goes into hiding. trying his best. does private security, bounty hunting, merc work etc to get by. his prosthetic was given to him by the people who trained him after a serious injury left him handicapped. he hates it. also, for a period after he ran this guy helped him out, a paramedic, taught him medicine and basically became a father figure to him. kaey likes paramedics, wants to help people like paramedics. his father figure ends up getting contacted by the people who trained kaey and tell him who and what kaey is, kinda ruining the relationship and causing kaey to run again. kaey has animals because they make him happy and he is a lonely boi. cricket is a cat he picked up in finland (where he also met father figure, btw) and has kept her since. vagabond is a cat who found and adopted him when he moved to wherever he is now. haeti is a retired military working dog that nobody wanted because she’s scarred and half blind/deaf but kaey loves her because shes broken like he is and they are good together.
