Info post about the au

(If characters seem OOC ((Out Of Character)) it's beacause I'm going off of my own interpretations/headcanons/fandom versions. So please be aware of that)

(TW: Mentions of abuse, from his past, only slight mentions of it)

(when using Night or Mare, referring to whatever version has that name, but when I use Nightmare I'm talking about both of them.) 

-Jobs in the group: sudo-leader whenever the others in charge aren’t around, scouting and scavenging, anything that requires a brain really, keeping the murder trio/Cross/Error in check

Weapons of choice: sniper and staff that can turn to duel blades, when as Mare anything on them can be a weapon really.

-Uses He/Him (main pronoun), They/Them and It/It’s, but really couldn't care less about pronouns, so doesn’t care if people use others for him.

-One of the more smarter people in the group. Acts as a sudo-leader when Sci isn’t around.

-Is able to distinguish what type of negative emotion someone has, either they be mad or sad. But cannot distinguish what type of positive emotions someone has. -He’s always been small, when they were first created there were more positive emotions than negative, leading to Dream getting more power than Nightmare, which led Dream to grow taller. When things started to get more negative though it was quick, so the tree took most of the negative energy power from Nightmare, leading to him still being small, which the tree then used that power for the apocalypse. Night did kind of get the power and height from the negative energy after that, it just didn’t happen specifically to him. It happened to Mare.

-Due to what happened before the apocalypse (abuse from people), he doesn’t really like people yelling, he also doesn’t really like violence. This includes violence on Wraiths too, if he can avoid any sort of violence he does. A lot of it still affects him to this day, but he feels more comfortable with the people around him now in the group, so tries not to let himself worry too much about things.

-Has a soft voice, due to not talking much in his past, it hurts if he tries to raise his voice or talk too long. Is getting better with his voice though, due to using it more than what he did when he was guarding the tree. Will give up on sentences mid-way through them if he struggles too much with it. 

-pretty similar backstory to the og Nm, except he never ate the apples, since the tree caused the apocalypse before that happened. He also looked closer to the og Nm as well with his outfit, but due to the apocalypse he took it as a sign he doesn't have to do his job of being a guardian for the tree then changed to more casual clothes.

Unlike the og Nm he was guarding the tree for a lot longer than him (around 450+ years), guarding the tree long after the og apple incident. 

-Despite him not really doing his job any more he still wears the crown. It’s just something he doesn’t really want to let go of. So he’s rarely seen without it. If anyone asks he just always says he’s so used to having it there that it feels weird without it there. Which is partly the truth. Mare on the other hand sometimes will have it off, due to the fact it's Night’s and people might recognize it.

-Dream and Nightmare are both trained in combat, due to being the tree guardians they’ve both had different forms of combat in them since they started existing. Nightmare’s fighting style focuses more on offense. When fighting side by side they fight in such a way to cover each other's blind spots. 

-His emotional state actually got slightly better when the apocalypse happened, since he wasn’t in constant contact with people harassing him. Sure, a lot of people still hated him, but he only saw people occasionally before he joined the group. Due to being a guardian he had to endure people/monster harassment for around 448 years.

-Originally saw himself only as Nightmare, and only let Dream call him Night, but after the apocalypse and the appearance of his other self he started letting people use Night with him, so he could call his other self Mare, when people use his full name now he has a mini heart attack since he thinks people know about Mare and are referring to them both together. 

-The two versions can communicate with each other via speaking in their head/mind, but the one out/in control can also speak out loud to talk to the other. Normally, Night doesn’t speak out loud too much around people, but Dream and Cross tend to be the ones to hear his one-sided rambles. He mainly lets them hear mainly because the rambles they hear can be taken as him just speaking aloud to himself trying to problem-solve.

-When either Night or Mare is out normally the other may take the opportunity to rest, Mare doesn’t need as much rest as Night, so normally when Mare takes over Night gives him full/complete control so he can sleep in the mind. 

So this leaves Mare to deal with any possible situation they may find themselves in.

Night can’t have complete control, as if he tries to stay in control for too long (he can go just under 2 weeks without switching to Mare) he will start to get sick, and ends up puking black tar/eyes leaking tar. Which after a while Mare is forces to take control as Night will be in too much pain.

-Mare is considered a Wraith, But unlike the simple mind of Wraiths they’re actually as smart as Night (if not a bit smarter) (Mare can also be around Wraiths without them attacking) 

-Both Night and Mare consider themselves the same person. In the beginning it was true, as Mare only had Night’s emotions and memories to go off of. As Mare got to form their own opinions on things it looked as if they were separate beings, but the two concluded Mare is still going off of Night’s emotions/memories. So they still say that they’re the same being.

-Nightmare would do anything for his brother (Dream), even if it means putting himself in danger, he also tries not to let Dream see all the things he's doing for him, as he doesn't want Dream to worry about him

-Night knows not a lot of people like him, due to what happened with the tree, a lot of people blaming him due to it being negative emotions that caused what happened. Even though he has nothing to do with it. To add to this, if anyone is being mean to him for any reason he just tends to be polite to them, most of the time it makes people feel a bit bad for being a dick when he's being so polite back. If he isn't polite, he's normally joking around. 

-Nightmare and Dream joined the group, kind of in the middle of everyone else joining. Nightmare originally wanted to keep on the move, but Dream got along so well with Ink and Blue that he didn't want to separate them, and since both himself and Dream didn't want to be apart either, he stuck around. 

Though he had to prove himself to be useful, given his situation of a lot of people thinking he caused this. Nightmare got along decently with Sci, due to being almost as smart as him, and he quickly got along with Horror. Which is when Dust and Killer joined, they quickly formed a little group together. (Cross and Error being honorary members in Nightmare's little group) 

-He’s aware he's kinda hard to be around due to giving off negative energy, but it doesn’t stop the ones he’s befriended from still hanging out with him somehow. Unlike Dream though due to how Nightmare developed it takes longer for people to feel negative due to being around, so he can be around people, but he tends to give people breaks from himself after being around him for too long. 

-Night does a lot of things for the group, he helps Sci make things for their survival, helps scout out areas (due to being small he can get into places where the others can't), helps scavenge for items.

-The 4 smartest people in the group are Sci, Nightmare, Geno and Gans/Echo.

Normally people don't bother Sci since he's normally quite busy or getting rest, and people don't tend to bother Geno since he's normally complaining and shit like that. Gans/Echo is normally off somewhere or doesn’t care enough to help, so it normally leaves people to go to Nightmare when there's a problem, as he's only slightly easier to get a hold of. 

BUT Nightmare also likes to hide in places to get some peace for once, so he's only easier to get a hold of when he's around, whereas even thou Sci, Geno and Gans/Echo are around they're quite hard to get help from.

-Nightmare acts blunt most of the time, mainly because he’s used to not showing much emotion, only really ever having showed emotion to Dream, so when joining the group he does try to show more emotion, since he knows not everyone will like how blunt he normally is. His way of showing emotions is to be somewhat goofy, and unserious, sometimes though he doesn’t really take much serious, since he doesn’t really care too much. He’s also a bit of a smug bastard from time to time, enjoying being a bit of a rat or just being annoying. He does things he wants to do now, whereas in the past he only did things because he had to but had to disregard the things he wanted to do. He feels a lot more free than what he did, but is still semi aware about the fact he isn’t fully free but ignores that in favor of being ignorant. 

When he does decide to care about something though, he cares too much. Even if it’s going to affect him negatively, he’d much rather care than not care at all.

-Night doesn’t really like eye contact, doesn’t really like how intense some people's eye contact can be. Mare also doesn’t like eye contact either, but unlike Night, Mare’s eye is quite intense for most, so it ends up with the other person looking away before them.

-Night always looks tired, basically permanently having darkness under his eyes. Dream always tells him to get more sleep, but it’s not like Night wants to stay up it’s just he really struggles to get sleep.

Tends to get more sleep when he likes/trusts are in the same room as him.

-Night’s left eye may flash blue sometimes, this is due to Mare sometimes coming up to the surface of Night’s mind to check on him or to check out the situation. This eye flashing has only started due to the apocalypse. 

-Night’s tail doesn’t move around too much, it's normally remaining low to the ground or even curled up around one of his legs. In contrast to his brothers tail.

-Night doesn’t like being alone. But at the same time he’s scared of trying to seek comfort in other people normally forcing himself to be alone. He hates it, Mare tells him to go hang out with his brother or friends, but Night always refuses. 

Mare tells him if he doesn’t put in effort with other people then what's stopping them from putting in effort with him. Mare telling him this terrifies him, he knows it’s true but is just so lost on how to approach others that he just lets himself suffer. In Night’s mind suffering alone is better than suffering pain or embarrassment for trying to reach out to others, and having them possibly reject him.

-Normally gets picked up by people due to being short and light. Dream, Cross and the MTT trio are the main culprits for picking him up. Night doesn’t mind too much, especially if they were walking somewhere, it just means he doesn’t have to walk. He only really gets annoyed by it if he was doing something/has to do something but them picking him up is stopping him from doing what he needs to do.

-Night normally needs to do something with his hands, he normally fidgets with his hoodie sleeves. Or if he’s holding something might mess with that. If he’s standing next to someone he likes/trusts he might hold onto them, e.g. holding onto their sleeve/arm. Just doesn’t know what to do with his hands half the time. 

-Likes cats, when he guarded the tree he never really saw cats, only reading and seeing pictures of them in books. So when the apocalypse hit he got to see cats, and instantly fell in love with them. Even going as far as to have cat themed items e.g. his cat socks.

He’s somewhat scared of cats, despite his love for them. If a cat was to approach him too quickly it might freak him out thinking the cat is running to attack him. Originally he wanted to keep Fig, but realized he didn’t know how to take care of a cat, so ended up giving Fig to Horror. He often looks after Fig when Horror is busy, learning how to take care of her from Horror. Night hopes to get his own cat once he feels equip enough to take care of it. Preferably he’d hope he could get a grey tabby cat.

-Quickly learned how to use modern technology, is often stealing it from buildings to see what he can find on them, has found multiple games and movies to keep the group entertained in their downtime.

-Collects books, doesn’t matter what it is, he collects them. Will also sometimes steal Cross’s manga, might read it, might not, he just wants it.

-

-Fresh and Death/Reaper were the first two to know about Mare, but didn't say anything to anyone. 

Fresh views Mare as another parasite (similar to what he is) so doesn't want to grass on what he sees as a fellow parasite. 

And Reaper/Death sees it as none of his business. As long as they aren’t hurting anyone. 

The two found out about Mare separately.

-Mare uses They/Them and He/Him. Doesn’t mind which is used. Is agender, but as mentioned doesn’t mind the He/Him pronoun. 

-Cross was the third person to find out about Mare, though he didn’t know Mare was Night at first. And it took him a long time to even see Mare in the first place. Cross doesn’t know that Fresh and Death/Reaper know about Mare, so he thinks he’s the first to find out about mare.

-Dream would probably eventually find out about Mare, probs quite a bit after Cross found out. And would probably find out due to Nightmare possibly protecting him and shifting into Mare to be able to protect him better. (Assume when I’m doing any sort of doodles for the au that Dream doesn’t know still, as mentioned he won’t find out till a lot later)

-Despite Mare having all of Night’s memories and feelings, they chooses to disregard the past, and focus on the here and now. Whereas Night is still stuck thinking about the past.

-Mare tires to be Night’s rational thoughts whenever Night’s mind goes spiraling. Mare doesn’t feel sympathy for Night, since he knows Night doesn’t want his sympathy. Mare normally trying to stick to truths even if those truths are mean. 

-Mare thinks Night is stupid sometimes. They want Night to be more cautious about things, to take things a bit more seriously, always telling Night that all it takes is one slip up, either him or someone else slipping up for things to go wrong. But Night doesn’t really listen to that, choosing to live in ignorance. 

-Mare compared to everyone else in the group is a lot stronger than all of them. They would easily be able to take them all in a fight. They’d never fight them though if they could help it. They’d much rather use Their efforts to protect them, even if They had to do it in secret. 

-Night normally goes out on solo scouting missions, which he normally uses that time to let Mare out. Mare actually does a lot for the group, even if they don’t realize that. Easily being able to clear Wraiths out of areas, or going into Wraith infested areas to get supplies from those areas. As well as easily being able to clear paths due to their strength. 

Mare gets some enjoyment from fighting Wraiths, but enjoys fighting the more powerful Wraiths more, since they gets to use more of their power. But is also aware of when to fight or not, since they don’t want to attract the attention of the group.

-Whenever Mare is let out if Night was wearing the crown/necklace Mare will also be wearing them. This also applies to the cat socks too, but due to Mare’s boots they’re never seen.

-Mare always has at least 2 of his tentacles out, will sometimes have 4+ out. It’s rare to see them without them. Mare would much rather tuck the main 2 into their sides rather than up them away/make them disappear. 

-The eye on Mare’s mask isn’t actually an eye, nor does it blink. When looking close at it, the ‘eye’ is actually some sort of crystal.

How they feel about:

Dream:  Night: Dream is his brother, and he’d (Nightmare) do anything for them, even if it means completely disregarding his own safety/happiness to make sure Dream is safe/happy.  He adores that Dream tries for him, either it be trying to cheer them up or just being around him when so many others don’t go near him.  He adores them, but there's a lot he doesn’t tell Dream, since he doesn’t want to upset Dream or make Dream see him differently (e.g. telling Dream about Mare). He feels bad about lying to Dream, but at the same time he feels it’s for the best.

Mare: has the same love for Dream, but is aware that it will take a lot for Dream to hate him, telling Night it’s okay for Dream to know about them, but Night never listens.

Cross:  Night: It’s complicated when it comes to Cross, Night feels Cross would most likely be better without him around, but Cross has consistently been stuck in his side like a thorn since Cross joined the group.  Night doesn’t fully understand his feelings when it comes to Cross, he does like him, but he can sense there's another emotion there, but is confused by it since he's never felt like that before. Often times he tries to keep Cross at arm's length, like as mentioned, he feels Cross will do better without him. He thinks his negative aura will eventually bother Cross, or that he will upset Cross in some way, or that Cross will leave him. Despite wanting to keep Cross at arm’s length, sometimes he slips up and lets Cross in, he can’t help but have a soft spot for him. Night sees Cross as a sort of ‘knight in shining armour’, thinks this view of him is funny since Cross literally is a royal guard. But it’s the fact Cross is always looking out for him either that be physically or mentally. He does appreciate what Cross does for him.

Mare: Doesn’t care to keep Cross at arm’s length, they’re almost as clingy as Cross, almost. Mare is fully aware of what their feelings are unlike Night, so they were the first to show affection (the love kind) to Cross. Their view of Cross is a lot different to Night’s, where Night sees Cross as his guard, Mare sees Cross as a wet pathetic dog. But they love that about him. Mare knew after Night had a few interactions with Cross that Cross was a good guy, he knew that if Cross was to find out about them (Mare) that he wouldn’t say anything. Knowing Cross cares too much about Night to put Night in any sort of danger.  

Blue:  Night: He’s unsure what to feel about Blue. Dream likes him, so since Dream likes him Night will treat him as a friend as well. He knows Blue is a little bit cautious of him, but at this point who isn’t. Doesn’t mind him, but he wouldn't really consider him a friend.

Mare: Only really has Night’s emotions and experiences to go off of, so doesn’t have an opinion on him.

Ink:  Night: Thinks Ink’s weird af. Dream likes them though, and he thinks Ink’s insults are funny. So he can’t really complain much. Ink also isn’t worried about him being around either, he’s pretty sure Ink has no concept of danger. Doesn’t mind them, but he wouldn't really consider Ink a friend.

Mare: Only really has Night’s emotions and experiences to go off of, so doesn’t have an opinion on them.

Dust:  Night: He likes Dust, though he is unsure on why Dust is protective over him. Likes how quiet and calm Dust can be, but also enjoys the moments where Dust is goofing off with Horror and Killer. 

Mare: Like Night, he likes Dust, tells Night it would probably be fine for Dust to know about them. But Night doesn’t want to listen/doesn’t want to risk it.

Horror: Night: He likes Horror. Horror was one of the first people he managed to make friends with, and he’s also the reason Horror has a kitten. Since he found the kitten and ended up bringing it back, in which Horror quickly grew attached to it so ended up taking Fig.  Horror can be relatively calm half the time, so Night hangs out with him often.  He also is one of the few people who knows that Horror is also a murderer. 

Mare: Like Night, he likes Horror, tells Night it would probably be fine for Horror to know about them. But Night doesn’t want to listen/doesn’t want to risk it.

Killer:  Night: He likes Killer, finds him funny, but also feels drained after a while of interacting with him, since Killer is quite hyper. He has to remind Killer often to get something to eat/drink, as Killer never realizes when he needs to eat/drink. He knows despite Killer acting like an idiot most of the time Killer is actually smart and observant.   

Mare: Like Night, he likes Killer, tells Night it would probably be fine for Killer to know about them. But Night doesn’t want to listen/doesn’t want to risk it.

Error:  Night: He can get along with Error, but Error has his moments where he just hates everyone. So tends to give Error space and only hang with him when Error comes to him.  He’d consider Error a friend, but the term friend is used loosely here.

Mare: Doesn’t mind Error, but is also unsure on what to think about him, not fully being able to figure out what Error is about. Does appreciate that Error tends to be nice to Night though.

Lust:  Night: Considers Lust one of his best friends. Finds it super easy to talk to Lust, though he does keep a lot of stuff to himself and doesn’t really talk much about things relating to himself with Lust. Lust most was the one to tell Night that he (Night) probably has feelings for Cross, after Night talked vaguely about how he feels about Cross with Lust. Dream also gets along with Lust, so that feels like a plus to him. 

Mare: Appreciates the fact Lust helped Night realize his (Night’s) feelings for Cross. Also likes the fact that Night has someone he can open up too, even if it’s only a little bit. 

Fell/Edge:  Night: Doesn’t get along with him, but is polite with him. When Red gets mad at him, he just stays polite which normally makes Red back off due to feeling bad that he's basically getting pissed at some dude who is just trying to be nice to him.

Mare: Thinks Night needs to put him in his place. Doesn’t like him, and often makes comments in Night head when Fell is around, normally making Night nearly laugh about it.

Geno:  Night: Doesn’t get along with him, but remains polite with him. They can work together from time to time to help Sci, and sometimes Geno will ask him questions about himself, but he never really answers any of them.

Mare: Thinks Night needs to put him in his place. Doesn’t like him, and often makes comments in Night head when Geno is around, normally making Night nearly laugh about it. Has also once told Reaper that he needs to get better at killing people because what's taking him so long with killing Geno.

Outer:  Night: Doesn’t mind him, but he wouldn't really consider him a friend. He hasn’t really spent that much time with him to consider him a friend. He knows Dream likes him, so when he does interact with him, he does treat him as a friend though. 

Mare: Only really has Night’s emotions and experiences to go off of, so doesn’t have an opinion on him. 

Sci: Night: Doesn’t mind him, but he wouldn't really consider him a friend. He can get along with him, and he does like how reasonable he is, Sci was the reason Night was even allowed to stick around in the group in the first place. Since Sci knows Night didn’t cause the apocalypse, and due to being the leader he had the last say in the issue of Night being around.  So Night is grateful for him, but still wouldn’t consider a friend. More of a work friend than an actual friend. 

Mare: Only really has Night’s emotions and experiences to go off of, so doesn’t have an opinion on him. Does appreciate the fact Sci gave Night a chance to prove himself.

Reaper/Death:  Night: Doesn’t mind him, but he half considers Reaper a friend. Thinks Reaper bullying Geno is funny, and does appreciate the fact Reaper hasn’t grassed on him to the others about Mare. 

Mare: He’s only talked to Reaper a few times, and like Night he appreciates the fact Reaper hasn’t said anything about them. Is willing to listen if Reaper ever needs a favour. Has also once told Reaper that he needs to get better at killing people because what's taking him so long with killing Geno.

Fresh: Night: Doesn’t really like him, but is polite to him. Thinks he's weird as hell. Thinks his power to censor swears is funny though, specifically when it comes to censoring others like Fell, Geno and Echo.  Would rather not be around him though, as Fresh puts him on edge.  Though he appreciates Fresh keeping Mare a secret, he still feels Fresh has a bad reason for keeping it to himself though.

Mare: Warns Night not to trust Fresh or get too close. Doesn’t really answer Night’s questions about Fresh though. Mare feels it’s better if Night doesn’t know the reason why he tells him to stay away from him.

Gans/Echo:  Night: Doesn’t get along with him, but remains polite with him. They can work together from time to time to help Sci. And can also have polite conversations with him where they can joke about things, but they’d both rather not interact.

Mare: Only really has Night’s emotions and experiences to go off of, so doesn’t have an opinion on him. 

Chief: Night: Doesn’t mind him, but he wouldn't really consider him a friend. Finds how blunt he can be entertaining, but would rather not be on his bad side as he knows Chief can be kinda petty. 

Mare: Only really has Night’s emotions and experiences to go off of, so doesn’t have an opinion on him.

What a time - Jack Hughes (rewrote)

this is a rewrote version of something I wrote last summer in ‘23, it was very bad and one of the first things I wrote on here so hopefully I can do better this time 😭 (credit to gif maker!)

My mom used to always tell me that memories, are something that we always hang onto. Good memories, and bad memories. They are like core memories, things that play back in our heads, randomly. Ever since then, I have always liked to try to make sure it becomes something in my memory.

When Jack and I started dating, I wanted everything to be kept as a memory. Everything was just so sweet and unreal, I wanted to always be able to look back at moments like this. I wanted to relive everything.

Jack and I always took a lot of photos of places we would visit, even as kids. Growing up as best friends, we always took videos and photos of places we went, or the things that we did. Which leads us to this moment.

Jack and I are sitting on the floor in front of our fireplace, while the fire keeps us warm. Jack hands me a picture of him and I on a boat a couple months before we started dating. “I still remember this day, it’s like a core memory.” Jack says giggling. Everyone in the photo making funny faces after a long day on the boat. A lot of us sunburnt.

“Cole look like a lobster.” I state, Jack letting out a wheezing laugh. “Oh my god, my face. I look horrible, Ellen did me so dirty.” I can’t help but cover my mouth, seeing teenage me, with a sunburnt face and my hair a mess from being in and out of the water.

“Oh hush, you look beautiful. You’re my perfect girl.” Jack states, leaning over and giving me a soft kiss.

We continue to look through more pictures, we end up inviting the whole ntdp over, seeing that we spend a lot of our summers with them and they would most likely want to see some of the photos too.

Everyone is laughing and taking pictures of the photos and sending them to each other.

Here comes another memory that I want to keep.

I've been watching all Pretty Cure seasons one by one for the last couple of years, and I always wanted to do some fan-redesigns, but never get the chance to! However, Star Twinkle has some of my favorite outfit designs (and some of the most wasted character design potential too…) so I couldn't miss this opportunity!

Cure Star's magical girl outfit is almost the same, but her civilian version has some tweaks here and there, because I like my human magicals having human colors before transformation! I also wanted her torso to be a little bit more square-shaped, but kept her general bodytype fairly thin, because I thought it fitted her personality and the way she moves!

Cure Milky was my favorite redesign of the group! Lala is beautiful, I think we all can agree on that, but I wanted to give her a full alien appearance (a cute one, yes, but alien after all)! So I took inspiration from the stereotypical green alien with slim bodies and huge head/eyes (probably inspired by that meme about Anime girls being aliens in disguise, too…) and made both her Magical girl and civilian versions too look like actual aliens! I also added a human disguise tho, so she can blend in with humans while staying with her friends on Earth!!!

Cure Soleil, the first (main) latina Pretty Cure!♥ This one's very meaningful to me for obvious reasons, and she's so beautiful in and out! The changes I did to her outfits were minimal, but I played around with her bodytype (It's true that we latinas are known to have curvier frames, so I wanted her to have a fuller figure that her og counterpart! ) and her hair texture, and her eye/hair colors. I still felt her blonde her was pretty iconic, tho… so I decided she has it dyed!

Last human Precure, Cure Selene! She has a pretty defined appearance, so I didn't had to do that much work with her, but she's a champion archer, so I tried to give her an inverted-triangle bodyshape, guessing she had some decently developed muscles in her back and arms! Also for her civilian appearance I decided to make her outfit more serious and her colors darker to make her look a little more… japanese! Hahaha ♥️

Hi. Not long ago, an anon user talked about the way you made custom eyes for your OC's. Would it be possible to have a tutorial for editing eyes? I tried some changes myself, but I don't end up satisfied

Hi,

Of course. Let's take my main candy for example. Her eyes are actually the fairy's eyes. Why? I didn't like OG candy eyes and fairy's looked very good, plus it matched the body.

Buuut... you noticed that One of the fairy's eyes is covered so I only took one of them.

So, I started by selecting the eyes with a simple rectangle (1). After that, I erased the excess with an eraser with low opacity(2). I choose to let just a faint from the original, especially the top part (the eyelid). After that, I pasted it and positioned it on (3). Here, I chose to erase the original pupil and add candy's. So with a brush with low opacity, I painted over with mostly white (4). After that, I selected the pupils from candy's eyes. Here I chose the same color as the fairy's (5). Lastly, I pasted the pupils on the edited eyes, erased the excess, and even drew over a bit(6).

After all of these, you can get creative and add makeup or anything you feel like. If you are not confident about the position of the eyes you can simply add the of eyes, lower their opacity, and position your eyes over it (then delete them when you are done), so you know it sits where it should.

What if you want a different color than the eyes you choose as a base? Well here, you just have to paste the pupils with the color you want, copy the darkest color from those pupils, and then carefully draw over the eyelashes with a mostly low-opacity brush.

What if the skin color doesn't match? Here you need to copy the color of the skin (the base color and the shadows) and then apply them where you need it.

You can try this with any kind of eyes even if it's not really a portrait mode. Even slightly to the side work. For example, my other candies have eyes from the HSL version of candy. Here, I've done a lot more editing including changing the shape of the eyes a bit.

Future!Leonardo and Future!Donatello ref sheets!

These took way too long, so please interact and reblog lol

Alongside the two character sheets (which shows two front face versions, one in full gear and one that's more casual. And also some other stuff around them, like Leo's sword & arm and also Tello's tech bow and battle shell)

I did also do a lil height comparison thing cause I can, tello would be a little taller than Leo. Prove me other wise.

Some design things to point out:

For the most part Navy's (F!Leo) design is pretty similar to his canon design in the movie, except for some of the marking being moved or added, and of course I edited some of his clothes to fit better with my style.

But since Tello (F!don) doesn't have a canon design, I was able to get a bit more creative with him!

Aka i used Navy as a base, but gave Tello both arms, made his trousers longer (and purple of course), and edited the belt thing to fit his design more.

I also gave Tello two plastron cuts on one side (like in my og design), but inside of having the other side of his plastron have just a cracked off piece or having it covered with a metal plate, I just made it look like it got filled in with a plastron like filler.

He does have the same arm gloves like Navy (minus the bandages).

Of course since Tello is THE science lad, I have him a lab coat with the Donnie tech logo on his upper arms, and made it pretty long cause that would look cool af.

I did end up making a proper battle shell design that is a mix of all his other battle shells that he used when he was younger! It having holes on the side where his metal hands come out, and the purple part being able to open up and inside would be some mechanism that can look like his little jet pack thing, which he would make with his mystic, attaching it to his physical battle shell

He also has a more detailed upgraded arm gauntlet thing.

And he does actually have purple chin marks (which aren't visible due to his metal plate chin implant), and also has little purple marking under his eyes. Both resembling the markings Navy has!

In my og design for Tello he had a different style of leg prosethics, but I ended up changing it since it was hard to draw, and the idea of Tello saying fxxk you to the kranng and using their robot legs as a prosthetic just speaks Donatello lmao

Tello also has very similar goggles to his past self, but the metal being much darker and stronger. And of course its been upgraded too.

Finally both Navy and Tello have bright yellow eyes... One, cause it's cool as fuck. Two, cause I would say present Leo and Donnie would have brown eyes, but due to the radiation and apocalyptic environment their eyes would get a lot brighter and would glow in the dark a little. Small cool concept I have.

Hello there, I'm so sorry, it took me an eternity to answer you...

First of all, welcome to the fandom! When it comes to managing the gigantic amount of BTS content that exists, I can only advise you to take your time: navigate the content, watch what catches your eye, and leave the rest, maybe for later. For a long time now, Big Hit has aimed to offer a variety of fan experiences so no matter who you are, you can find something you really enjoy. Maybe it'll be the documentaries following the group during world tours or the cooking game with chibi versions of the members, it's up to you.

I'll try to give a few tips depending on what you may be interested in:

1 - You're here for the music

YouTube, streaming apps, and albums are your friends!

An easy start is the Hybe playlist since it has all their main tracks. Then if there's a song you really like, you can try and go for the album.

If you want more info about a song/album, you can check my blog post about it, it should have lyrics translations, filming places, a list of the referenced works and nods to other things, as well as some more trivia.

Then it's time for the documentaries (they're listed here among other shows) and the special performances to witness unique versions of your favorite songs paired with incredible choreo. Lastly, collaborations with other artists complete their discography.

Their variety shows, behind-the-scene videos, and socials are the way to go!

The iconic one is of course Run BTS!, which started in 2015 and is still going strong nowadays with the Run Jin! version, a show packed with laughter, treason, and games no one understands. But the true OG remains the Bangtan Bombs (Eng trans). Each video is a time capsule of the boys at each point of their career.

Once you've gone through all that free stuff (should take you some time though), the paid content is the logical next step: from the adventurous Bon Voyage to the relaxing In The Soop, you once again have the freedom of choice.

Welcome to the theorists' world (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧ a.k.a the BU.

It's pretty much dead now, some people expect new things for 2025 but there's no guarantee. It's a fiction set up in the BTS MVs that then got extended through web comics, novels, and a web series.

That should be it. I didn't mention a lot of things (the Festa, the solo works, the DVD packages…) but it should cover your bases and it's mostly free and easily available. I think you'll naturally come across the rest during your time in the fandom (there are tons of compilations and curated extracts). I think that's one of the nice things about BTS, you always discover something you had never heard before even when you're an experienced fan!

To stay up-to-date, don't hesitate to follow official accounts, as well as a few translators. You can also check r/bangtan on Reddit, there are often new fans asking for help/recommendations there, it's probably more complete than what I could come up with on my own.

I have read the snippets that you have of the pursuit of diarmuid and grainne au and i love It and was wondering of you had more to share?

Hey, sorry this took so long to reply to, I was waffling on and off about how to go about it! Read more bcus it got long dxfcgh

So for those wondering, the og post is here and it lays out the basics [alongside teatitty's posts that were the main insp I love u Tea], which are essentially that I really can't see The Pursuit of Diarmuid and Grainne as a love story, tragic of otherwise, as Diarmuid says no from the very start, and in certain versions he resists as much as he can by making up several reasons why they can't go, such as Fionn having the keys or being unable to pass through a wicker gate, and at least in this one cries over being parted from his people, from the Fianna.

The Pursuit is both a comparatively younger myth and wildly out of character for Fionn, who is most often characterized as a benevolent protector to the people of Ireland, so I do want to note that while I fully understand some people preferring the original mythos Fionn, that's not really what is in this AU. He also isn't there to marry Gráinne.

It means a lot to me that you enjoyed my snippets; I really posted it expecting it to just kinda die like most of the last line/sections I do, but several people seemed to really enjoy it and that means a lot to me! ;w; It is a different sort of fic for me, though, and it's one that I'm not overly confident in, so I don't know when, if ever, I would post it. Things also may change from the snippets as I work on it; for example, still trying to decide if Sadhbh is still present in this au, as that throws a lot of stuff off kilter that would have to be redone dfxchvg

That being said I do have a couple other sections! I'm not sure how good they are, but, well.

The attention is typical, at first. Diarmuid knows he cuts a handsome figure and dresses to match it, wearing fine velvet and leather with pearls and diamonds strung through his braid. But the longer it lasts the more uneasy he becomes. He's caught sight of her several times now: the high king’s daughter, Gráinne. His fingers itch to run over his love spot, to make sure it's still covered.  Fionn is standing at his side, tall and broad, a far more winsome figure than his own. It's the work of a moment for Diarmuid to step into his shadow and closer to his side; an arm immediately drops around his shoulders, his friend jovial and welcoming. It warms his heart and soothes him all at once.  If he stays like this, tucked away into Fionn's shadow, cautious and protective of his dearest friend, of his son and grandson by their sides, nothing will come of it.  Inevitably it is noticed. Fionn's arm grows tighter before dropping to allow him to step further back, his smile slightly more strained. They continue to walk together outwardly unchanged; Diarmuid follows in his shadow until Fionn leads them into a sheltered corner, the others continuing on without them. Hands run over Diarmuid's shoulders, his arms, his sides, checking for injuries before coming back to gently cup his face. “What troubles you so?” Diarmuid looks to the side before he can stop himself, chewing his lip as he considers his options. He has never lied to Fionn and he doesn't plan on making it a habit now, but if he tells him the political landscape could face a massive upheaval. Fionn strokes his cheek, expression closed off; it's unlike Diarmuid to be avoidant with him. It’s unlike him to act like this at all. He knows Fionn is worried. “Is it still covered?” He asks, sighing as Fionn immediately runs his thumb over his love spot, a gentle, grounding touch.  “Always. What happened?”

So a couple notes here, this is before anything happens but when Diarmuid has already noticed that he's being watched in an unsettling way; he's a Fae, he's beautiful, he's used to being stared at, but not quite like this. He also has a mole, a love spot, that makes women fall in love with him, which some versions of the pursuit imply is the sole reason Gráinne ever even approaches him. So aside from sounding a lot like victim blaming, the love spot in myth is actually on his forehead, and thus easily covered [and almost always covered, it caused him so much grief when it wasn't you think he would leave it in plain sight?] by his hair. Hence the concern here. "Solar how can Fionn's thumb reach-" man is quite literally half giant in mythos shhhhhhh let me have this uwu

Fionn and Diarmuid know each other very well so as soon as it becomes clear Diarmuid is not just stepping closer bcus he doesn't trust certain people around Fionn [unnecessary, Fionn would normally tease him about it] but is in fact uncomfortable it becomes an Immediate Pressing Issue to find out why. From there, not yet written out, it's a struggle of deciding how much Diarmuid wants to tell Fionn [he knows him, he knows if he tells him 'someone has been staring at me in a very unsettling way and I'm uncomfortable' it will become an Issue to be Addressed Immediately.

Next snippet is further along, after Gráinne already put the geis on him and forced him away. Very possibly subject to change, I don't...super love how it's reading now, but I do also like the concept even if I worry it doesn't fit Diarmuid's voice properly.

Diarmuid leaves signs where he can. Small things abandoned in the depths of night when Gráinne is asleep and unknowing, deniable in the light of day should ever she see them. Little pearls and diamonds from his braid, tucked where they will catch the light only if someone is looking for it. Scraps of cloth, a fleck of blood, three hairs caught tangled on a branch; imperceptible signs that will be clear as day to as skilled a hunter as Fionn. Desperate pleas, a trail of a weeping heart. Find me, it cries, fearful as he never before has been, please don’t stop looking. Even though he knows that the best way this could end is for Fionn to let him go. For Diarmuid to let Gráinne take him where she wishes and do what she demands because she is the daughter of the high king and Fionn doing anything in retaliation will only invoke his wrath. If she dies…she can’t die. She can’t. There is no way out.  To lay a path, to allow his heart to hope for rescue knowing everything he knows is shameful. More than that, it’s a political nightmare. Gráinne is surely to wed a lord someday, someone far above Diarmuid’s own station, someone chosen to bring further peace and stability. He leaves a fish, uncooked and untouched, when he can. A message, a plea, a promise that he has not done anything untoward, that he will not do anything untoward. It will likely not be enough for her father, nor for her future suitor still yet unnamed.  He wants Fionn to find them, to end this, to find a way to break the geis and let him come home. Yet he has to keep Fionn from finding them, because he has never seen his friend so angry. The one time they did speak, swift on the heels of their flight, Fionn was so far gone with rage that Gráinne would dare lay so much as a hand on him that Diarmuid hadn’t known how to calm him. He had barely even had time to draw his lance and intercept the killing blow before it felled Gráinne and threw everything into chaos. He cannot risk Fionn catching up again, not until he finds a way to calm his friend’s fury.

"Solar why would Diarmuid keep Fionn from killing Gráinne that makes no sense he doesn't want to be here at all." So you see. Gráinne is the daughter of the high king of Ireland. Fionn is the 'seventh king of Ireland' [ty Tea I love u Tea]. Aka, there are extreme political ramifications at play, which I lay out via Diarmuid but just for clarity here.

ANYWAY my main concern here is I don't want Diarmuid to come off as like...not quite woobified but like woobified. From a fate background I know that a lot of takes on Diarmuid write him a lot more submissive/subservient which I am not bashing, if that's what people enjoy, good for them!! But that's not the angle I go with Diarmuid at all, and that goes even more for mythos Diarmuid who is strong as fuck and typically able to weasel or fight his way out of situations. It's just that in this one there's a geis upon him that will kill him or otherwise fuck him up if he breaks it, so he is forced into a passive role. ON TOP OF THAT he can still think clearly over the ramifications of harm coming to Gráinne so he Needs to be careful, needs to be polite and repress the urge to fight back, to flinch away.

Included the fish mention because this person mentions reading the pursuit as assigned school reading, and that's where I saw the mention of leaving an uncooked fish to be like heyyyyyy promise there was no funny business okay? It does also mention a 'positive' of Fionn being portrayed in a bad light, that being that it humanizes him, but as said above, I'm stepping around that interpretation of Fionn dfxcvg

ANYWAY I HAVE LIKE. THIRTY versions of the pursuit up rn, two of which I need to actually check out from the internet archive bcus they are book form but hopefully also provide further analysis?

A somewhat comprehensible essay about how the Chaotic Crossover AU was created

Summary: Me explaning my weird thought process and the string of ideas that lead to the Chaotic Crossover AU. I wrote the essay for fun, don't take it too seriously. I'm totally not saying that because I went off topic a few times.

It's seperated into 10 sections so that it'll be easier to read. This is my first attempt at posting a longer piece of my writing as well as an essay, I tried to make it interesting and entertaining.

It was around some point at the beginning of the year 2023 that my mom and I randomly decided to watch the movie Ocean's 8 together. I'm usually really picky about movies because my attention span is terrible and if I get bored I don't wanna watch anymore, but when she told me it was about a heist I was hooked. I love heist movies, I always did, and I loved this movie too, it's fun and actually funny and charismatic, with a decent twist to it that I won't spoil, but I definitely do recommend that you give it a watch.

Anyways, that day changed everything. The moment the movie was over, the moment that I went upstairs to my room, I had no real idea what I was getting myself into. I put on my headphones, put on "Mission Impossible Theme - Electric Guitar Cover by Kfir Ochaion - ALP Guitars" on loop, I took my purple hula hoop and I started to pace around my room trying to come up with ideas while spinning it around like a weird stim toy. Ideas for what, you may ask?

For my oc's to be in a heist together, of course.

You see, my mind is very easily influenced. That's definitely not a good thing to be honest, but I don't know how to phrase it differently. Basically, whenever I watch something I immediately start thinking of oc ideas that have something to do with it. If I watch a movie about cowboys I'll be trying to make a cowboy au in my head, If I watch a movie about a royal ball I'll be imagining them all dolled up at a fancy event.

You can bet your ass, that I, heist movie fanatic, wanted my oc's to be in a heist together real bad. Thing is... at the time, I had a teeny tiny little problem that made this idea a little difficult...

I literally only had two oc's to work with.

Those two being Charlie and Mina.

The girlies. The legends. The og's.

...but yeah, still. Two oc's isn't a lot to work with. I did have Charlie as a plot starter, she's literally a thief, of course she'd want to go on a badass heist to steal a bunch of valuables. But how on earth would Charlie convince Mina of all people to go on a heist with her?

Besides... these two are a fun duo, but they're not entertaining enough on their own, seeing only the two of them interact constantly will get bored real quick...

But did you think that stopped me, dear reader? Oh no, no no no no no. I didn't let go of this concept. I felt a mighty need. I NEEDED to see a group of my own special little guys on a wacky heist together.

In an act of desperation, I literally thought about bringing back my old Ducktales oc's and the Club Penguin oc's I had recently scraped. The Club Penguin oc's were a no go, I firmly decided to turn those into humans and to work on them at some point in the future. As for the Ducktales ones, I'd have to rewatch an entire show to be able to properly rewrite and redesign them and I didn't feel like doing that...

...but then, I remembered two oc ideas that were lingering in my mind, waiting to be thought of. A Making Fiends oc, which I did try to create but ultimately scraped the idea of cuz I couldn't make the design look right, and a Welcome Home oc concept, of a sleep themed character with a moon head.

While I was going to start to work on the Welcome Home one, I still didn't wanna tackle the Making Fiends one. So, in my mind, I firstly created a weird meta version of the au we know today.

I started to design and slowly form a personality for moon girl. While I was doing that, I added her to the heist even though she was nowhere near done yet.

As for the Making Fiends guy... well, he was going to be a self aware scraped character who was supposed to be able to exist only in this au, and nowhere else. It was supposed to be an universe where everyone is self aware that they're characters, and that I, their creator, exist.

The guy was supposed to be very mad at me specifically at all times, because the girls got their own lores and stories in their og universes, meanwhile his only role is to fill up space in a heist scenario.

I remember getting the idea that, before I even post about these two, that I should create a series of fake screenshots where I'd showcase these two without explaining who they are, as a sorta little thing that only I would really understand the context of.

...and this is where things changed.

For fake screenshots you need fake scenarios, for fake scenarios you have to imagine the characters interract.

The very first idea I had for this was Charlie, excitedly breaking into the guys house and then trying to convince him to join her crazy heist plan, and him of course not wanting to.

It was this bickering that I really liked. It was this bickering that I found insanely entertaining.

It was this bickering that ultimately saved both Charlie and Milo as characters.

These two are at their BEST, when they have someone to go against, a rival. Someone to argue and fight with. These two basically shaped each other as characters.

Most of Milo's personality was created while I imagined him arguing with Charlie like they're in a Danganronpa trial. And while Charlie's personality didn't change, it definitely expanded. The Charlie from a year ago isn't the Charlie we have now.

Also, I gotta add this, Charlie and Milo are basically Ash and Five but in a different font, I have realized that only later on, and I really love this dynamic. I won't explain who those two are in detail, if you know you know.

So, we have established that these two helped and pushed each other to become the best versions of themselves.

But let's be real, there ain't no way in hell Charlie's gonna convince Milo, even the Milo we have today, to participate in a heist that easily.

So, what does Charlie do?

Drag moon girl into it, of course.

I thought to myself... huh, what if Mr. Serious had a soft spot for moon girl? And then Milo proceeded to shape Molly's character into place, with one of the most beloved dynamics I've made so far. Molly changed Milo a lot too, of course.

Molly is the thing that made me realize that Milo is at his second best when he has someone to care for, someone to love. Eventually this love did spread to Charlie and Mina as well, but he doesn't show it towards them the same way.

Charlie and Molly changed each other in a way that made me realize that Molly is at her best when she has someone to lead her. A lot of Charlie's personality came to be from me imagining her explaining something to Molly in a cool leader type of way.

And then there's Mina. Now you're gonna say, Mina's the odd one out. Mina's the only one who hasn't changed at all since I first introduced her.

Mina has changed, she just changed the least. All three of them shaped her character to be more caring and less cold, which isn't very obvious... given that it's Mina we're talking about.

Heh... I guess ya could say, that she was too lazy to change any more than that. Mina's the most simple character out of all of them, I don't wanna change that too much. Her simple character is fine, and it's at it's best when it's put together with complicated characters. And welp, we got three complicated mfs right here.

All of these dynamics were born while I was imagining them in the heist scenario. You forgot about the heist already, didn't you? I can't blame you, I did too... for a long time.

I just started to imagine them in different scenarios and those kinda made me forget about the heist one, but, within this au the heist thing did happen... well, it was supposed to.

Basically the au began with them all just being thrown into this white room with four doors lined up before them. Each of them had a missing item from their inventories that they wanted to get back. They got to know each other a little while they were going through each other's universes, they found the items and that was it for a while.

Until Charlie found that a new door showed up in the room. The door lead to the front of a giant building, which turned out to be some rich guy's massive mansion. And of course the mansion was full of valuables that Charlie wanted to get her hands on, but failed attempt after failed attempt... she just couldn't get in.

That's when she realized that it would be far easier if she had someone with her... y'know, preferably three people. And boom she's at it with the convincing. Mina agrees cuz she wants to avoid another one of her aunts weedings, Molly agrees cuz Charlie told her that it's a good thing that they're doing this, Milo agrees cuz Molly is a part of it, and because he's baffled that she managed to drag Mina into it.

And because they were like in a heist together I almost called the au the "Charlie's Angels AU". Because y'know... there's Charlie who's conveniently named that, and the other three who's names all start with an M. I honestly still think it'll be a clever name for some sorta au, but I went for the name Chaotic Crossover AU because it's more simple and it explains what the au is about better. Besides, I feel like if I actually went for the title that's a movie reference I'd have to constantly stick to the whole heist thing or otherwise it wouldn't make much sense.

The only other type of name I considered before I went for the one we have today, is something along the lines of MMCM AU. Maybe the letters were arranged differently, I honestly don't exactly remember. Yeah, I didn't get too creative with this one, it honestly sounds like a band name to me... and yes, I did consider making a band au but nah, I'm going to use the band concept for something else. Also there's lore reasons as to why these 4 wouldn't really be capable of being in a band together.

So they meet up to create a plan, they have fun chatting and messing around for the whole day, only to find that the door which Charlie talked about dissapeared. She wasn't lying about it, she even took pictures as proof.

But, oh well, does is matter that much anyways? Maybe the real treasure... the real heist, was the friends we made along the way.

And, it was.

Besides this beginning, there is no other plot to this au.

The rest of it is just them mindlessly having fun with each other as I put them into random scenarios and funky outfits.

I said this somewhere before, but, the au has no actual ending or middle, just a beginning.

Time doesn't flow the same, they're just meant to stay the same age, time has been stopped, basically.

There was supposed to be a plot at some point, but I realized that I would spoil a lot of stuff from their actual canon stories, and I am always overly cautious with not spoiling people.

Also, the characters here don't line up 100% with their canon counterparts, even if they do for the most part, because I erased their canon problems for the sake of having them be actually happy unlike their canon selves.

Thing is, to what extent did I erase these problems?

Because, for some of them, if I erase the problem then they're not the same character anymore...

So it's basically a weird situation where they are and aren't themselves...

...I'm losing you, aren't I? Yeah, I'm losing it too.

What am I trying to say?

I'm trying to explain in a comprehensive way that the Chaotic Crossover AU makes no logical sense.

...unless, you hear me out about the explanation I came up with because I feel the need for everything to magically make sense.

The Dollhouse Explanation

Which says, that the oc's in this au, are doll versions of the actual characters.

1. The white room with the doors is actually a dollhouse. Every universe they go to is me adding another playset to it.

2. Molly, Mina, Milo and Charlie are dolls. I play with them, making up roleplays and scenarios. I dress them up in different outfits very often, like one does with dolls.

But, you could still tell that the sprites are from the same project because of the lineart and shading. It's the same situation in this au.

...this is a cursed addition to this essay that I, on one hand, don't wanna cover cuz Part A of it is the cringiest and worst development fact about the au and I've kinda wanted to just pretend it never happened, but it influenced Part B in a way as to where I can't not mention it, and also I find Part B incredibly interesting.

Ok, so, Milo was always pansexual, but Charlie used to be bisexual before I settled on her being a lesbian.

...I'm just gonna rip the bandage off, Milo x Charlie was supposed to be a thing.

I know, I know, eugh. Look, I will think of many romantic character combinations just in case I might hit the jackpot, I like to explore romantic dynamics as much as platonic ones.

And, for like... a month, I was genuienly planning to make these two slowly get crushes on each other, I was gonna hint towards it with some sorta ship art.

But then, I was reconsidering things.

I started to contemplate the meaning of life, as well as all of my life choices and how they affected my life, me and my oc's. I looked into the distance, and then I took one, good, longggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg, look at Charlie. And then, finally, like a light at the end of the tunnel, my critical thinking skills tapped me on the shoulder.

I turned around.

"Her ass would never date a man." it said. I nodded, and shed a tear. It may have taken me too long to realize it, but at least I did.

And that's the story of how Charlie became a lesbian instead! :D

And no, before you ask, Charlie wouldn't like Milo in that way even if he was female, or when he's presenting himself as more feminine like in the one purple design I made for him. She doesn't find him appealing in a romantic way at all. Same goes for Milo with Charlie.

Besides, both have standards... and different types.

Ever since I decided to keep it all platonic, thank heavens I did, I've always had this underlying fear in the back of my head that, somehow, people are still going to see it as romantic. I remember when I made the drawing of Milo and Charlie standing next to each other in greaser inspired outfits, I was like, oh crap, are ppl gonna see them as a couple?

But no one did. A decent amount of people saw it, and no one said a thing.

And I think that's nice. Beautiful, even.

I've seen plenty of characters which were, if you ask me, forcefully pushed together in a romantic way, despite the fact that they were clearly meant to just be friends. Having this sense of control over things, being able to determine the right path for these oc's, it gives me a sense of peace and satisfaction.

Everything is in its place.

Balanced, as it should be. 

Anyways let's talk about how this decision made everyone in this au absolutely unshippable with each other in every conceivable way.

1. Molly is an adult the other three are kids if you don't think this is a no go get the fuck away from my blog.

2. Mina is aroace and would never be in a romantic relationship, so that's a no go too.

3. The only two left are Milo and Charlie. Charlie is a lesbian and since Milo is a guy that's a no go.

This happened completely on accident and I realized it on accident too, but I'm not complaining.

kuusuke operates as a mad scientist since humans aren't allowed into the monster world (afaik humans arent even seen outside of jackson, who is half monster). idk what he makes tho. maybe he pulls a doctor finklestein and makes bone animals to roam the monster world?

kuusuke is the one who got his family into the monster world btw. i mean he definitely found it p quickly after kusuo started morphing and speaking in tongues and shit

kuusuke would LOVE the monster world, at least at first. he might get bored really quickly, but he'd love being able to be more of a crazy bastard than he already is

kuusuke functions as a head cultist for kusuo, but instead of strengthening him with sacrifices and praying for protection, he weakens him with sacrifices (the limiters) and prays for himself to be smote (kusuo to play games with him) (kusuo ignores him a lot)

they were 100% human before being dragged into the monster world due to their sons

they basically live the same as they do in canon tbh i dont think a lot would change in the monster world

during the new years chapter maybe instead of saying kusuo has powers, they say something about his eldritchness or how glad they are to "worship" such a chill god. god i wanna write this now.

Kaidou Shun - Vampire

okay so not ACTUALLY a vampire but i think it was nopsi who had like an au where kaidou was like a weaker version of a vampire?? GOD i dont remember the name (hampir?? i cant find it on wikipedia, did it start with an f????). for all intents and purposes, im just gonna consider him a weak vampire

i cant remember if he'd be made thru a human/vampire relationship but if he was then i think we should play into the manga hair colors of his siblings and say that whole toki and sora and his mother are all full vampires, he was half vampire (perhaps he's from the father's side of the family from a previous relationship, since his mother has purple hair in her manga cover i think??)

draculara has her red drinks and her spf and her cute little parasol so OF COURSE kaidou has all of those as well. i think it would be very funny if kaidou had his umbrella customized to look like a hidden anime weapon, but it wasn't waterproof so he has to use a different one when it rains

bc im rewriting this im not gonna go thru my thought process so my idea was that takeuchi was a mad scientist who created midori after himself bc he only had access to a mirror (neither realized they looked the same). takeuchi died and chouno, who was smitten with midori, remade takeuchi who midori named riki and chose to raise as her own. chouno intended it as a poetic final goodbye but cut to 16 years later and hes still not over her lol

nendou being undead could also play into his appreciation for life.... protecting the obviously smaller and weaker saiki and kaidou.... his care for his dad that he never met (altho he might have two dads in this au?).... THE HAMSTER SCENE. NENDOU :((((

however. teruhashi isnt just a pretty girl. she's The Perfect Pretty Girl. so we can just ignore all the bloodshed and murder and deathmatches :D

okay i need to preface this with something that is very important to me about this, the Japanese creature the jikininki/shoku-jinki originated in the story of musou the preist. as far as ive been able to see, there is a second story featured on wikipedia about a pregnant woman that is legitimately someone's fucking oc insert. im not making this up, it appeared one goddamn day and i dont want to make an acc just to get rid of it but i dont want to have my ip address just There and i dont know how to like draw attention to it. so please know that the story of musou is the only legitimate source of the jikininki and the "jijinki" are just someones fucking oc inserts. i dont know why they did this, i dont know how it's still there bc its been YEARS how has no one removed it??

- Ariel’s bones cracking when she transformed back into a mermaid!! But I’m so mad we never once got to see a full transformation scene lmao more about that later

- ariel killing Ursula (it’s her villain!!!) and having to drag herself across the deck (eric saved her with the harpoons so stop complaining)

- Ariel forgetting about the kiss

- Ariel singing along to under the sea!!! To show that she doesn’t absolutely hate her home!!! She just wants more!!! And the way she sings music is to me specifically !!! And the fact that she sings more period! I always thought she should’ve sang a lot more than twice in the original version for being known for her voice

- Ariel saving/healing Eric quicker with her siren song???

- the fact that one of my fave Disney ships is now getting all the love they always deserved ☺️

Dislikes:

- her sisters do more than the og but they still need to be shown more… and have lines lol. I read the companion novels for this version and they’re so prominent and have cool abilities and cultures and kingdoms but !! They don’t show any of that in the movie !! Like why add lore if you’re not going to show it… also I like the fact that in the companion novels they rule over fictional seas and their world map is different from ours, but then in the film they just mention real world locations like… pick one

- okay I gotta talk about it 😔 Ariel’s ocean transformation dress. Not to mention that whole scene. It’s one of my favorites in the original and they just… scrapped it. I was looking forward to them actually showing Ariel’s transformation back into a human at the end because I thought the original should’ve included it too (hello I love a good Barbie transformation scene) but they still didn’t show it… AND they didn’t even show the gold magic going to her tail OR her reaction!!! Like BRO WHAT???? And the fact that they took out her magical dress???? And just put her back in RAGS like they put my poor girl in a torn up smelly dress and for what 😭 not to mention the fact that they imply she had to swim naked, find the rags dress, and climb up all those stairs AHEM YEAH THEY ALSO TOOK OUT THE RISING FROM THE WATER SCENE LIKE BRO also if they didn’t want to include the ocean dress (mistake but ok, they could’ve had her scales transform into a dress but ok) they could’ve at least fixed up her blue dress… added some shimmer or shells and coral idk man

- yeah she needed at least one more day outfit… my girl wore the same dress for three days in a row… and one of those days it fell in a lake…

- the fact that every transformation scene was either dark and hidden or not shown at all (come on budget??)

- the screen test version where Ariel had more upper body and arm scales… was better. She just looked so empty compared to her sisters it was a weird choice they made to make her top look more like an actual bandeau bra with a harsh cut off and everything

- yes Ariel and Eric needed a duet

- where was the ensemble?? The choir??? Both in under the sea and kiss the girl??? Under the sea should’ve had a lot more people singing as the song went on especially since he’s talking about instruments and animals (that don’t even get shown???) but instead it sounds so empty since he’s singing by himself until Halle joins and a tiny quiet ensemble — and in kiss the girl it was such a BAD choice to have it just be scuttle Sebastian and flounder I’m sorry but it ruined the sultry smooth jazz calypso vibe of that beautiful song 😭 flounder’s vocals threw me so far out of it lmao they could’ve started the song singing it but the ensemble should’ve come in!!! Where were the harmonies!!! Anyway the broadway version is my fave listen to that instead

- the lyric changes were so unnecessary… Ursula’s a villain, duh she’s gonna spout some shady misogynistic advice… plus that was my fave part of the song 😭 also the whole “use your words boy” line was unnecessary… because when he leans into kiss her multiple times he doesn’t even ask………… like they missed the point there (also why was he already so willing to kiss her, he should’ve been super reluctant 😭)

- they took out les poissons which, fine, I guess but we’re not even gonna have a kitchen scene in any way?? Also Ariel got over the whole food for slaughter thing real quick but I’m glad they brought it up at all

- they could’ve had Sebastian rap at the ending bridge of under the sea (as an alternative to scuttlebutt)

- where was the finale song !!! With all the merpeople and humans singing together!!! At least have Ariel sing the deleted clip of it !!! Now we can walk now we can run… ugh we needed it

- loved the ending… but that final shot was a bit wonky?

- where was the cruise ship????? If we’re not gonna see the wedding on the ship (missing triton’s water spout and rainbow) fine but not even the engagement cruise?? Hello budget??? We didn’t even get to see Ariel swimming her butt off to get to Vanessa?? But we got her tackling her instead 😭😭 odd choice

- I’m sorry but the visuals were not giving on wild uncharted waters, at least in the first half… like show something!! Show him on the beach at least!! At Ariel’s rock??? Show flashbacks?? Idk something??

- the fact that Sebastian is no longer the court composer 😔 and he’s not dignified anymore he’s just an abused wannabe advisor who is harassed like whaaaaat he’s supposed to be one of her father figuresssss,,, also the fact that he’s so miffed and takes things into his own hands during KTG is because he’s a composer, it’s why he mentions bands and instruments in under the sea!!

- I was afraid of this when the casting announcement was first made but I was looking for some more expressive… expressions from Halle :( mainly in the poor unfortunate souls scene and when she has no voice, like she does a great job but I do think she needed to be more expressive in some parts

- why does Ariel call him father?? And not daddy?? Small nitpick but it seemed a lot colder/distant when she called him father lol like it threw me out of it in the goodbye scene

- the whole concert scene was gone lmao not to mention that we barely even see other merpeople or their culture, we literally just see the sisters in an otherwise empty sea until the ending

- no lyrics to Vanessa’s song :( but it was sung beautifully. Oh also it made no sense that Vanessa’s melody started singing before she even put the necklace on?? Like wha?? Why would Ariel’s melody change on its own? Also why did Vanessa not talk in Ariel’s voice? That girl had three voices come out of her XD I guess they wanted the actress to be able to talk??

- also I wish Vanessa were black too since she was supposed to look so similar to Ariel and be mistaken for her (Halle could’ve played her, or even Chloe!) but the actress did a great job so it’s fine

- I’m sorry but Eric should’ve been Hispanic imo… :( they made sure it takes place in the Caribbean but still had a white Eric? Who was adopted? Idk man I wanted a Latino prince :/ also wasn’t a fan of the way they styled his hair or stubble because he looks much better in other things he’s been in

- Eric had only one outfit, even for his wedding XD, and what was up with that weird blue vest

- the shot of Ariel in the sun was too blurry and dark :( didn’t give off the same vibes as the og

- the sky in the part of your world reprise is so pale, they could’ve upped the saturation behind her :( the shot didn’t give the same oomph

- Ariel creeping up the rock… why

- the weird shot in part of your world where her hand is through the hole but it cuts to her being on the rock at the bottom? Made no sense lol also they could’ve upped the saturation of her hair underwater the way it looks in the sunlight since it’s all cgi

- they couldn’t even give my girl an actual high quality mermaid tail to base the cgi off of?? H2O had a much smaller budget but had actual detailed tails 😭

- for the first time was great but melody wise it didn’t seem to fit the rest of the soundtrack? It was much more broadway-ie

- why didn’t the eels talk? Why did Ursula not even talk to them? Ariel killing them literally is what gets her mad and go kraken on her but… they barely had a relationship in this one

- ^ like why did Ursula say the word pathetic out loud? To no one? How was that not an immediate turn off for Ariel? Plus the skulls??

- where was Eric’s flute? Playing Ariel’s melody? And Vanessa walking across the beach all majestic like?

- I’m sorry but the queen was so unnecessary… I get what they were going for with the Triton parallels but they could’ve done that with Grimsby in the beginning or his court or whatever, why give a mom who’s barely in the film then immediately changes her mind in the very end without us seeing it?

- Carlotta 😭 poor girl was written out!!! Lashana was obviously supposed to be her so why change her name?

- I do kinda wish they made the three days longer (give her a week?) but I get why they didn’t, that’s just a personal thing

- some of the underwater scenes were shot at an angle that were unflattering to Halle which pissed me off because she looks stunning in every other part of the movie

- why did Eric’s castle look like a gray European fortress 😭 where were the red tiled roofs and the canals

- Atlantica went from a glowing golden magical city-palace to an underground rocky coral cave… couldn’t we have done a mix?

- flounder was so unnecessary he was barely in the movie in favor for the scuttle/Sebastian dynamic

- max was barely in the movie :(

All in all I HOPE they make a sequel (but please don’t base it off of the terrible animated one lmao please no kids) and give Ariel and Eric a duet, give Eric a tail!!! Make him explore her world too!!! And actually address the fact that Ursula killed the queen like the companion novels state… also please include a full transformation scene lol also why does no one make a version where she can switch between worlds freely, it’s okay I’ll write that into my own version

Christmas in July: Bob the Builder: Christmas To Remember: the Movie: A Rope of Sand (Comission by LacheyV)

... i'm probably going to hell for that gag. Also Merry Christmas in July all you happy people. Christmas in July snowballs on with Lachey once again having me look at a show for young children. In the absence of Thomas, he'll be back later this year, we're instead looking at Bob the Builder.

Bob the Builder.. is not a franchise I had a ton of experince with but unlike thomas at least knew the theme song, as it was around a lot and I'd ocasinally see maybe a minute while flicking channels but never really stopped to watch it like I would with say Backyardigans or Lazytown. Granted Lazytown is just plain dope while also being insane so that helps it a bit. Point is I knew it existed, had good character design, got a reboot with character design that looks...

Yeah i'm staying far far away from that. After american carol i've had enough deep seated trauma for one year.

No we're looking at the OG which I was shocked to learn was british.. which in hindsight the term "builder" shoudl've given it away but unlike wanker or bloody it's not a term really used in the us. It still sounds neat enough to get a past.

Bob the Builder follows Bob, his common law wife Wendy and his variety of construction equipment/childrne that are alive because he and his brother discovered a fallen star as a kid and each took a piece. He also gave a piece to a local farmer, who tore it in half to use a bit on his tractor and the other bit to turn a scarecrow into his fully living son.

Look you have your bob the builder head canons and I have mine okay?

Point is it was a roaring sucess here and overseas and i'm covering it because about 70% of Lachey's hyperfixations are on old childrne's show. The man narrates the mr men books to me in his spare time and it is delgihtful, i'm not knocking any of this. Unlike my first attempt at doing a preschool show with mickey mouse's clubhouse, he tends to find ones that still have some charm.. or are batshit insane. usually both.

So we've come to the Bob the Builder Christmas special which involves child abandonment, cougars, manequin murder, non sentient jet planes and of course the secret origin of Sir Elton John. Join me under the cut for all of this and Mambo No 5.

The special follows the residents of ... (checks wikipedia) bobsville.. .did.. did he buy the town? It has a mayor... but then again so does Schitt's Creek so i'm saying he bought the town. The town gets ready for christmas in this small english town.. or american presumibly in both the US series an the upcoming film I completely forgot about but given who it's starring

The special is an hour long and has a tangle of plots that all intersect fairly well for the most part. The main throughline is bob getting a message from his brother tom. Tom looks exactly like him, which isn't unusual as A) it was easy to reuse the bob sculpt and they also do so for one of the rockstars in local band Lennie and the Lasers and B) there were five of him int he music video Bob did for his version of Mambo No 5

Now you may think that's a joke I told but no, this.. this is real. You can find it here. Now you may be asking why a children's show decided to put a song about Lou Bega banging as many women as possible on their children's album and making it about building instead, while having 5 bobs in the video and having his child/cememnt mixer Dizzy wear a boa and eye lashes and take the place of the women in the video despite being a children

Also wendy's right there. Use the actual adult for the video girl if you have to do that bit. There's also a video where bob sings the theme song while dressed up like ali g at one point

Point is tom's a coming with his dog whose name I forgot. But whose not coming with him is his Scooter Scoot, who also sounds like a children but is being left in the wilderness because Tom is a terrible father. Seriously Tom is kind to his machines, and his main conflict is the mayor , who we'll get to, keeps piling jobs on him but he's just too nice to tell her "The Weed of Crime Bears Bitter Fruit You Old Hag!", so he can't get around to getting his live in girlfriend and various childrne presents. The most Sir Toppham Hat gave his trains is some pretty lights and not putting Henry in the tunnel ever again. Tom has just ONE and abandons her to do his job while he's gone. I get it at FIRST, as you really can't take a sled/scooter on a boat, but he later gets a private plane, we'll get to that, with another power machine on board and can't bother to bring his child along. #JUSTICE4SCOOTS

As I mentioned there's a new mayor in town the er.. mayor. Look if Powerpuff Girls can get away with it, I think Bob the Builder also gets a pass. It's just science. Point is there's a new mayor. The old mayor was in the classic episode

She shows up in a few episodes after this and then never again, being replaced as mayor, looking at wikipedia by her sidekick for the episode and actual recurring character Mr. Bently. His job is to mostly go THIS IS MOST UNORTHADOX at Banger, a long haired unwashed young man who is roadie for Lennie and the Lasers, a local rock group with worldwide acclaim and a certain Rocket Man on the key boards. Banger is the best just having a jolly rocking attidue. Also the mayor wants a banger if you get my meaning...

Seriously it's a runner the Mayor is really into banger despite being a decade or two younger.. and i'm here for it. Let the mayor get it.

What she won't get.. is that bob needs a break, making a playful joke about him taking a tea break and piling more shit on constantly. I was forgiving a little as I figured we'd have her realize she was overworking him.. but nope. She gets to overworking Banger instead and just.. never cottons on while Bob's workaholic tendenices will have to be handled with an intervention down the road. The bulk of bob in this special is just him being too polite to say

While nothing gets resolved and it's easily the weakest part of it

Thankfully the other subplots fair better, as Spud, who came to life from that metorite I mentioned.. because not even wikipedia knows how he came to life in canon

He's as human as any of us though... in that he fucks up a lot. Judging from this that's just his lot in life.. showing up, fucking up the day and feeling bad about it, in this case because santa's coming. So he first fucks up the clocktower, then murders a manequin in the basement and dresses up to replace it. Good on his dad whose also a farmer for not carring he's in a dress though. I mean it's the basic decent thing to do, but I get it wasn't that common a thing in 2003. Also yes murders: he dances with the manequin but before he can do a sex to it in a reverse pearl situation, he accidentlyt akes an arm off and hides her body in the closet. How many have you killed Spud? HOW MANY.. HOW MA...

Meanwhile Lennie and the Lasers are preparing but OH NO LENNIE HAS A COLD. Luckily while his band prepares, their keyboardest colabs with Rollie, Bob's steamroller who he gave permission to go see the band and then got to see them recording because Lennie is a peach and also possibly Rivers Cumo. Their Keyboardest? Elton John. I must've gone to the bathrom when the sentient steam roller showed up in rocket man, curse my active bladder.

You can probably see where this is going: Elton John is unsure of himself, Rollie encourages him and when Lennie goes down right before the show, and he performs Crocodile Rock... suprisingly not cleaned up like Mambo No 5 for kids. It dosen't really need much but it is fun to hear it all.

So yeah the special has a lot going on.. but it works. It's an hour long, we still get plenty of bob doing builder things, and all the plots have room to breathe.

They also come together nicely in the climax: Lennie lends Wendy his plane and they go get Tom when he can't come because reindeer got stuck in a hole. yes really. It's a great sequenc eand all and the arctic bits are beauitfully animated, especially sicne they had to make an entire winter wonder land just for this one special. Tom never shows up again as does scoots. MAYBE CHILD SERVICE CAME FOR YOUR NEGLIGENT ASS TOM. Also dizzy sees santa on the way home.

So at the concert, Elton John performs, Banger prepares to bang her.. honor, and tom shows up as santa because bob does that every year. it's a sweet ending.. if a bit aburbt as we just get a bunch of photos afterwords of the party.

As a whole.. I really enjoyed this special. It sounds kind of insane when I retell it because it is. Murders were had, banging was done off screen, planes that are not sentient because they don't hav ea metor chunk won't take children, it's great. But ther'es also a lot of charm to it too: the series is warm, earnest and looks gorgeous, using plastic stop motion that looks like clay... I coudln't figure out quite what they used, may be something similar to aardman but it looks spiffy.

This special is nuts.. but damn if it isn't cute. It's charming, has a lot going on and dosen't wear out it's welcome despite being an hour long, quadruple the length of a normal episode from the looks of it. It's fun, breezy and very british. While I do think Scoots needs a new home, I also think this special needs a look as on it's own merit it's warm and charming, and on the merit of being hilarous. .it succeds. Mostly by being kind of nuts, but in a fun way. Check this one out soon as you can and thanks for reading about bob the builder man.

Review #9: Twinkling Watermelon

After a One Direction-esq hiatus, I have returned with my wit and thirst to discuss a drama that I loved.

THIRST CORNER!!!!

I am being so fr when I say this man is gorgeous. His smile takes up his entire face and it makes me giggle and kick my feet every single time. Choi Hyun-Wook is not only so handsome but he plays the role of a kind, charming, stubborn and extremely loud 18 year old so well. Like, I think casting him for that role was the actual perfect choice.

Okay anyway, moving on.

The cast of this drama was actually just way too cute in general. I caught myself so many times watching with the goofiest grin on my face as they all lowkey fell in love fr fr for the first time.

The plot and storyline was so interesting! I really love how they made Sign Language a central part and really shone a light on how difficult it is for deaf people in Korea specifically.

Also, time travel seems to be a trend in recent k-dramas (I’m not mad about it buuut. A Time Called You and Lovely Runner 👀)

Similarly to 25/21 I think they took advantage of the fact that Y2K fashion is popular rn and set most of the drama in 1995. It’s cool to see the similarities!

I think it’s hard to keep my attention for very long when watching dramas if the plot has a lot of filler, which this seemed to have in the middle. It took me a while to get through (the last like six episodes were so engaging tho).

So I felt very meh for the first 15 episodes and then episode 16 had me bawling every five minutes. A huge jump, I know.

(SPOILER) Lee Chan coming to terms with not being able to achieve his dreams while he was under in surgery actually kinda broke me as a person. I was not okay. Also when his grandma comes and they cry together :(. I had to actually pause and take a minute. I was not okay!!

I LOVED the way it ended, though. Eun Gyeol felt like he had failed just bc (SPOILER) Lee Chan still lost his hearing, but seeing the positive impacts that he made really warmed my heart. Like yes, his family had been content and happy before. But now things were so much better and his mom was able to thrive because she hadn’t been abused as long.

The soundtrack went back and forth between being boring and going so INCREDIBLY HARD. The cover they did of 볽은 노을 has been stuck in my head for days and I found the OG version on Spotify and I love it. Also, A Song For You makes me feel so nostalgic for my youth for some reason. I wanna never forget all of my shining moments.

That’s honestly what I walked away with from this drama. I want my youth (and my life in general) to shine so brightly in my memory. I wanna make the most of the time I have so that one day I can smile and know I lived.

My Rating for this drama is a solid: 9/10. (Definitely in my K-Drama top 20)

My Unhinged Scott Clarke Theory Post

oKAyyyAYYYYYEYYEYE here we go. In Mr. Clarke's first scene, he's announcing a test to his class. He says:

This will be on the test which will cover chapters 10-12. It will be multiple choice with an essay section.

So naturally, I thought, MULTIPLE CHOICE?? LIKE.....MULTIPLE TIMELINES?? Because I'm slowly losing it. Here's my favorite thing about analyzing Scott Clarke:

The irony. "You're seeing patterns that aren't there. Coincidence." That's probably true, tbh. But I can't get over the fact that Scott is our very first introduction to the concept of an alternate reality. When he gives his flea and acrobat speech, he says:

You’ve been thinking about Hugh Everett’s Many-Worlds Interpretation, haven’t you? Basically, there are parallel universes. Just like our world, but just infinite variations of it.

And then the boys are like "nah nah nah man you misunderstand." But, let's go back to my OG Scott ramble when I talked about how he serves largely to deliver themes and information we'll need to know, often without knowing that we need to know it yet. Did we understand the significance of his brain lesson in that moment? No. So Scott telling us about infinite variations of our world feels important. Because NOTHING Scott says is throwaway knowledge.

And it wouldn't be a post by me without connecting probably unrelated things because they're the same color, so Scott moves between seasons 1 and 3, but here's his first house:

And this is Brenner's house. They both have blue doors and brick steps.

Because I was in the midst of my crazed yellow lamp hunt when I noticed this, I began also keeping an eye out for blue doors because the intro to this episode with Brenner's house has a lot of blue shutters and doors. But it turns out that hypothesis was a flop and blue doors are not a recurring motif. But SCOTT CLARKE HAD ONE. And Brenner had one.

I was writing a lengthy post on everything that seems to connect Scott to HNL, but I feel like aside from the door thing, it's all been said already. So I'll spare you and summarize as:

Scott knows just a few too many things to be natural. His knowledge is convenient as fuck and *suspicious.* I.e. there's no reason for him to know the precise ratio of salt:water to make a sensory deprivation tank off the top of his head. Why did he ask El where she was from the way he asked her ("Where are you from exactly?") with a squinty-eyed, suspicious expression? I also want to tack on this post here by @aemiron-main which is something I myself did not notice, but also links Scott to the lab. The point he makes is that there is an abnormal abundance of extras at HNL who look like Scott.

Additionally, back to Scott's first lines in the show, he says:

Answer 12.3 on the difference between an experiment and other forms of science investigation. This will be on the test.

His first line is not only about multiple choices, but about experimentation and investigation. And if Scott Clarke does one thing in this show, it's set us up for what we're about to witness.

Anyway, back to my doors. There are canonically two versions of Dr. Brenner: Martin and Richard. There are canonically two houses for Mr. Clarke: blue door and brown door. At least one version of Brenner canonically has a blue door. Scott Clarke is canonically related to alternate realities, even if solely because he is the character who introduced them.

Different colors are often used to differentiate realities. For example, the theory that the yellow UD and the blue UD are different dimensions rather than the same dimension in different times. But also in other shows or movies. Take Fringe, for example. They changed the color of their opening credit sequence from blue to red when the episode took place in the alternate dimension and then to orange when a new timeline was introduced.

What I'm getting at is that maybe there is a version of Scott who IS linked to the lab and maybe there's a version who is not. And yes, I went there because of his blue door.

Now allow me to also make you rewatch the phone call between Dustin and Mr. Clarke. I stripped the music from it and it turns out, Scott isn't telling him how to make a sensory deprivation tank at all. They pulled the audio from The Flea and the Acrobat and had it playing in the background so the audience would hear Scott's voice faintly over the phone, but not what he's saying. Listen to it. It makes no sense. It's the same vibe as when Dustin was pretending to be on the phone with someone about Mews in season 2 for his mom's sake.

What? The hell? This is likely a belated addition in the editing room because they decided it sounded odd without any voice coming from the other side and couldn't get Randy Havens to record anything for them at that point. But it's weird. Of all the audio for them to choose, they chose Scott talking about needing a massive amount of energy and opening a tear in time and space. They could have used him talking about anything else. They could have used him talking about the HAM radio, they could have used this same conversation but like a minute earlier. That would have made the most sense because he's literally talking about a sensory deprivation tank. But they chose this. IT'S. WEIRD.

And in that quote from The Flea and the Acrobat, Scott blatantly says a tear in time AND space. Throughout four seasons of the show, we've seen that these tears are possible and that people can in fact travel through them to the Upside Down. But what about time? What about other Spaces? Scott said there could be INFINITE versions of our world, and as I said before, Scott doesn't say anything without a purpose. Whether or not he himself is involved with the lab or with these other timelines, the simple fact that he talked about them feels like enough evidence that they exist for me.

Well… I sort of already have! But not formatted like I did with the MCU, or in as much straightforward detail. 

I recommend that you check out THIS, which covers creating the characters as broken down by Moench himself and I get a bit into it there. 

It’s hard to break down the characters individually in these comics because each writer is going to treat them differently and build on what they took away from the original source or intent. Moench himself spent his OG run developing and taking them in different directions. 

I’ve tried to break down each character as they appear in that comic, but that’s a lot of info and it really does vary issue to issue to writer to writer. 

For instance, in Moench, Marc is beyond self hating, angry, violent, quick to seek out revenge, and disliked by just about everyone in the comics. In the 90s, the writers are quick to ditch Steven and Jake and focus on Marc. 

The 90s were all about ACTION and COOL GUYS. And Who was cooler than a Mercenary with a gun and an attitude? Marc Spector became the action man with a dark past and guilty conscious. 

Then they killed Marc (Twice) and Jake took over. Because Jake was cool and hip. He was the dirty cab driver who got things done and knew the way to get information. He also got a little gritty in the late 90s and early 2000s. 

Steven got left behind for a long….long time. 

It was around this time that Khonshu also took up a life of his own. Khonshu became an actual character. I’ll be doing a piece on that eventually so look forward to that one! 

Marc came back and things get….complicated…. The characterization starts to swing WILDLY as everyone took a shot at trying to make sense of where Moon Knight and the characters needed to be to be brought into the current modern era and still make him have that connection that originally made him popular. 

It was a wild ride. And we don’t see things settle until Lemire picked things up, dusted them off, and said “This is who these characters are.” 

And with two exceptions (BEMIS. AARON), MacKay has not stepped in and attempted to fix things again and provide a place to build on for Jake and Steven to come home again. 

But one thing is for sure…. Marc has ALWAYS been broody, self destructive, self hating, and quick to overt violence that makes him regret things later. 

Steven often bounces between vain and prissy to weak and wimpy to cold and standoffish. 

Jake …Oh boy Jake… My poor boy. From loving kind cabbie to violent unhinged psycho to uncaring cool guy to loving uncle Jake again. 

If we really want to get to the heart of who these guys are… You almost have to read between the comics. 

Even with Moench. You don’t properly see Marc Spector until you get the little after comic shorts “Adventures with Marc Spector” and so on. When you see him being goofy, having terrible luck, and making the most of his bad situations. 

With Jake, you see him asking Gena how the kids are every time he sees her. He buys Crawley a new hat and does his best to support Gena in her hard times. He’s friends with the homeless and druggies. He buys a guy a cup of coffee and chews the fat with people in the streets. 

Steven is charming with Marlene. He takes care of the body with the other two only beat it up. He puts all his wealth into charity events and things that he feels make a difference. 

They all care about their friends and take it personally when their friends are hurt. Or when their friends hurt them. Gena talks about leaving and you see Jake feel like he failed her. Marc’s oldest friend from his time working CIA is killed and he goes on a serious bender of revenge. Even Steven, someone threatens his home and he pays extensively to make sure it is fortified and can keep everyone in it safe. No one hurts his Butler or maid or threatens Marlene. 

It’s the things they can all agree on and these things that I think helps bring them together. 

Where at first none of them can understand Marc and want him gone. But the more you see them coming together to protect what they care about the most, the more you start to see them agree on things and start to work as a unit. 

At the end of the OG run, you see Steven accept Marc and his past after his father’s death. 

It’s these things that I look for in the comics. The moments when you can see who they originally were and what keeps them together. 

Marc’s need for stability and people he can trust. Steven’s need to feel useful and keep his people safe. Jake’s need to be around people that love him and his ability to keep them close and safe. 

While I am NOT going to review every single comics like I did the Moench run... I am going to find time to re-read all of the 90s comics that came right after and might do a few breakdowns of those. ...But they are often a chore to get through. Just saying. They go hard on Marc and I miss my boys. I miss seeing the love that was so obvious in the original comics and the theme of friendship that held them all together.

This got so long I had to stop myself finally.

Fans: How is their relationship with their fans? Do they go out of their way to interact? 

Look, Jennifer Lamb is a category 5 hurricane of emotion on the average day, but something about the fans just twinges something in her brain. In the small bars, yeah she'd be more than happy to sit around the bar later, chatting with the ones who'd hung around, let them buy her a beer or two, and go on her way. Sign some things, and y'know throwing out the usual guitar picks and broken drumsticks to the local small crowd. Discounting shirts and homemade merch at a bar while they were one of the bands to float through the night. Maybe throwing everything in a free tote bag that has a scribbled logo. Especially as favours to any bar owners who let them in, then it'd probably get a lil more of a personal touch especially if they had kids of their own who were fans and/or they were fans themselves, then it would still largely be merch. More or less short circuits her because people like the band. And Her. And the Music. And they want to HAVE something of hers. Wild.

But her interaction with fans is actually her being an absolute nutjob and trawling fansites. Most of her private life has already ended up online or splashed across local magazines, especially because of the very public fight/breakup with Seven, and then recently finding out from Maya that the number one fansite is run by a teenager… it's quite accessible in the worst way. Jen is super interested in reading fansites, just to see what they've posted/what they know. The kind of manic 'I should be sleeping 3am but I'm on wikipedia energy' but instead she's going down a rabbit hole of her own history, especially when people still keep up photos of Seven in the band - and she fucking loves polls. (Jen you would've loved og gossip girl fr). Definitely has made a throwaway account on a forum more than once (she forgets the password not long after making an account) and like. Loves to deep dive on timelines and people breaking down the meaning in her songs. She is that one person who responds to the song meanings like 'its about having sex relax its not that deep' and then is like. Told she's wrong and banned. Also it's so funny for her, when she's wrangled into appearing on their social media, to drop like some batshit insane comment or demo, and then has her little 1 hour scroll through these people going bananas. She has a few favourite accounts bookmarked, even. Stupid head.

Sheenas as the fan name for her came about after one of Jen's first solo covers (pre-breakup actually) was her doing 'Sheena Is A Punk Rocker', but also dressed like Sheena, Queen of the Jungle from the comics, at a Halloween party for the local crowd, and it kind of stuck... she only found out why recently from Maya. So not only is she like, confused anyway, but then she's like doing maths about when this kid would've seen that video. Did they see all of it? Should she check what versions were uploaded? Can she get a copy?

But essentially she's now very much publicly in the space of actually having Orion largely coach her through interactions because... she's floundering. Literally becomes a publicist's wet dream with how she can get the smiles and the eyes and the hand movements, and mostly manages to not let her mouth run, but it's like she needs to be micromanaged because this is no longer the comfortable small bar shit she loves and wants to go back to. Even before ending up on the TV, really. A lot of the focus is also on (pretty much) deflecting questions about Seven, but in particular the like months following it all. There was one very salty former fan who took it quite personally and just missed Jen's eye with a pin (that they actually had handed out at one gig many moons before). And her pre-pin incident comments about him weren't even bad! People just lost their marbles.

She did actually set up a PO Box at one point, with the intent of people sending fanmail to because she has a soft spot for handwritten letters, but it hasn't been advertised since the pin incident. Superfans may know about it, but Jen also hasn't checked it in years.

Baby: How do they feel about Jazzy leaving? How are they coping? What are their plans to stay in touch?

I looked back on my answer for this and. Okay no, we're changing our tune a bit.

Whilst Jen is happy for her, and knows that fundamentally Jazzy wanted something different from her life than Jen did... a part of her resents that Jazzy was able to walk away. And it's not even resenting Jazz! Realistically, it's easier to think that, even for Jen, that she's just so mad that even after everything, Jazz is able to walk away with the house and the husband and the white picket fence (not really but y'know). Those are also just like little bitey thoughts that plague her and make her do the what-if spirals that always end up "why didn't I just walk away, too?" because Jen doesn't even know if she wants any of the other things, anyway.

So Jen's coping is like correlation and causation type scale nonsense going on, especially with choosing to tour with Soft Violence, the way Jazzy reacted, even, and she's like. In such a place where she doesn't even know if she wants to reach out, keep updated and update Jazz, etc, etc. Because she also absolutely loves Jazz, and is so happy for her, and honestly wants to be there with her through this rollercoaster she's about to get on, because it's Jazzy. It's Jazzy. And god, she misses her so much already.

Only other tattoo is the one on her lower stomach (Medusa head) (yeah that got repurposed sry Harper I'm doing smth else with you) but she absolutely loves the awful jokes she can make about it when people react after seeing it for the first time. "If someone is getting to a point where they can see it, [she] definitely knows that something turned to stone."

Jen does not understand how her putting on her glasses and Depression Greys™ makes her like. Walk around Clark Kent style. Fascinates her and compels her to try to do stupid shit with it.

This combined with her absolute inability to understand nor use social media has compelled some to see her as a #cryptid, which just further confuses her. She's seen her face on a post. She knows it exists. Yes she knows the name of the app? (don't embarrass her, man, there's hot people here)

Oh! And combining this with her Average Voice Resting Time™, where she's Clark Kent-ed out, wheat bagged and this close to just turning into a burrito, she uses a small whiteboard to talk. She's quite verbose, unfortunately.

Her fave flower is Queen Anne's Lace, because its a complex lil flower made up of dozens of others, and at the centre is a tiny lil red bud. The apparent story for it's naming is a provocation of Queen Anne to make a more complex lace flower than another king's wife, and in doing so she pricked her finger, so a little droplet of blood landed in the middle. There's also a poem! It's also for safety and refuge, because it turns inwards and seemingly 'dies' when it is actually ready to grow. Also attracts wasps lmao. It's commonly mistaken for baby's breath, which is everlasting love… which isnt wrong for Jen either, however it is that inward protection. At the centre of it all, there is a burst of colour, and she wants to protect it… the internalisation of it all.

During high school, she ran one of those ‘Ask Annie’ columns in the school paper. Her advice was ridiculous, and it was really well received even if she was pulling answers out of thin air. She's not sure if anyone cracked that it was her.

It did lead her to testing out some situations on people before answering, even. Or outright going 'hey if xyz happened do you think doing abc would work'. She wasn't even trying to be subtle by the end.

Turns out she’s got a real knack for maths. No one knows where it came from. Jen was one of those 'coasted through on C+/B-' kind of students. But no one is ever ready for the quick maths.

The first time Jen went in to get contacts, and was trying to put them in, and her arm was weirdly angled and the optometrist was patient but it freaked her out to think about putting something basically on her eye. Seven kind of like, went through the motions with her until she was comfortable.

He still has the pair of glasses that were always left in the right side pocket of his jacket. The case is worn and faded and cracked and still has all the stickers and scribbles on them, but the frames are still fine, lenses are only a check or two old, but Jen never knew how to ask for them back.

With Seven, especially when they were much younger, watching scary movies was such a big deal and like they were breaking the rules at sleepovers, even if it meant they were literally terrified. For days. It became "their thing" and especially as they got older with rewatches and marathons, and then the band, and eventually dating, the inside jokes were always there. Sometimes, they even used it as bad flirting, which weird people out just as much, if not more, than the fact that they were attached at the hip. Jen hasn't even looked at one of those movies since, and deleted OSTs, etc, off of any and all things.

Is a big fan of meditation because a girl sometimes has a lot of pent up energy and just wailing on the mic doesn't cut it. Quiet time, Jen is in her attempt at a lotus position.
