TO ME (girl who is aroace)#also underrated thing about them i like how nyx flirts back#its more prevalent in their A support but shes so fun with him even beyond the bonding over traumatic pasts#i think with laslow he does a lot of flirting right bc hes laslow but a lot of the time its like#no ones matching his energy#i was gonna say match his freak but i dont think he has any freak if im so real with u#if he does its buried beneath five metric tons of shame and embarrassment#and i like how his… laslow-ness kinda gives nyx space to let loose if that makes sense#like he can match her maturity because he. you know. all of that#but hes still young and so she can find a little bit of reprieve from it all in his attitude and blah blah blah#if that makes sense#they r just so perfect. Otp ask!!! 19, 22, 29 for xanlow- you can do all three or just pick one :D
OTP ask game
expectedly, this got long, so im putting it under a cut!
19: What do they fight about most often? (Alternative: what was their biggest fight?)
ohgh. pre-relationship its certainly the same thing they get in arguments abt in-game, which is laslow's behavioral issues (ESPECIALLY regarding women LOL) but post relationship--i think, at least, laslow is a pretty devoted partner. so the flirting issue dwindles (tho its fun to think abt the process of him successfully killing that habit~), so it's not the most prominent thing they argue abt anymore. on laslow's side, once laslow starts getting comfortable calling xander out on some of his Things, it'd result in the potential for little spats. his work ethic, his harshness, his stubbornness. i don't think xander takes what he finds to be unwarranted critique particularly well. he's not used to it, either, not coming from laslow. so he gets huffy HAHA
on the other hand, something i rly like for xander's side is him pointing out the ways that laslow will Not let go of some of his retainer habits (i wrote a fic abt this), and trying to get laslow to recognize that he holds a lot of worth to xander. also, i dont think laslow's issue of not wanting to burden ppl with his problems will just go away, and i think the more xander realizes that's something he does, the more he starts pestering him about it.
with all this being said i think it does take a lot to get them into an actual, lasting, *argument* once they're in a relationship. probably would take a pretty specific scenario? i don't think it's impossible that it could happen, tho.
22: Love languages? How do they get around differences, if any?
rubs my hands together. i rly rly think xander is a gift giving man.... i think he's also more physically affectionate than expected (and can get particularly touchy if he gets jealous (...which he does. more on my hc that xander's harsh punishments for laslow flirting w women were fueled by jealousy later KFJSKDFJ)). on that note, i think he's also more chill abt PDA than expected too, but he can get awkward around his siblings.
laslow i think is more wordy abt his affection!! both in giving affection and in receiving it, and i think it takes some communication for xander to start verbalizing in a way that resonates with laslow heh. physical touch seems very obvious for laslow too considering that he does literally glomp xander multiple times HAHA tho when xander initiates it i think it flusters him quite a bit while they're early on in their relationship :3
i dont necessarily think they clash, but they need to nudge each other in the right direction sometimes!! neither of them are mind readers so it does take some effort, tho.
29: First date? (Give as much or little detail)
first date.... hmm...!!! i feel like their first date would go along the lines of that they've been in a relationship for a while, and laslow ends up being like we NEED to go on a DATE that's what people DO. not just an outing (waggling his finger), but a defined date. laslow would be the one to set the whole thing up (and honestly, the reason he probably feels like they haven't been on a date before is bc *he* hasn't taken *xander* on one, tho ultimately this would still be the first time they've been on a defined date) and hmm perhaps they'd see an opera together, or something. i think it'd go well, too, no catastrophes or major issues. and from then on they do start doing little things together more often. not always quite as high end as an opera, but it opens the way!
#HTANK U FOR THE ASK AND FOR REQUESTING THEM#SORRY THIS IS LIKE#LONG#i have ONE MILLION things to say abt them....#first date was tough bc i can imagine it going differently depending on the au#but i think thats a pretty good baseline there. maybe i'll do a fic abt that too#i was looking thru my fic ideas yesterday and i ahve so many. i will write them one day#THANK YOU AGAINNN I LOVE THESE GUYS#dots answers asks#hybrix-hidings#dots's xnlw tag

do u take hc asks for aus? bc if so id love to hear some ab the fe14 superhero AU from an ask a while back? i feel like the potential is amazing? i have no idea ab powers but im imagining the nohrian royal kids as the children of a bigshot CEO/supervillain (a la Norman Osborn) and the other retainers are bodyguards maybe? mainly tho i love? hijinks potential. the flirting, one of them gets hurt in battle and the closest place for them to lick their wounds is their respective royal's apartment
For anyone curious, this a reference to this ask.
I also have no idea about powers (something that makes Selena invulnerable, maybe? something to do with her determined personality for sure) but we’ll ignore that for now and focus on the juicy parts of this ask instead: the royals as children of bigshot CEO/supervillain Garon and the Trio as their bodyguards.
Let’s take the canon approach here and assume Garon wasn’t always terrible. But he definitely is now, and the kids (even though only Elise is really that young still) have to follow his orders to the T or at least not get caught defying them. Maybe Garon uses his minions and robots or whatever to do his crimes for him, rarely going out into the field himself, but he’s still evil.
The kids definitely don’t follow his orders 100%. They have to for a lot of it, but they cut corners where they can. They’re not assholes. At least, not all the time, and not for no reason. Having a supervillain for a dad kind of sucks.
Pretending not to notice that your bodyguard is also sabotaging your dad’s plans all the time is also hard.
When you want something done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself. Beruka and Selena are reliable, but sometimes Camilla has to do things on her own. She can throw her weight around, both physically and with the family name.
I don’t know how, but somehow, someway, Selena ends up holding Camilla bridal style in the middle of a fight.
I’ve always imagined as Camilla as pretty broad shouldered and well built, and while I imagine Selena taller than either of the boys and taller than average for sure, I don’t normally imagine her with as much visible muscle as Camilla either. I’m sure that Camilla ends up holding Selena plenty of times later, both out of necessity and because she just likes holding people she’s close to. But this time it’s the other way around, Camilla in Selena’s arms, and Camilla is pleased.
She’s been reluctantly impressed before, of course, but this time she’s willingly impressed, and that’s probably in large part due to the fact Camilla knows it’s Selena holding her and not some random (if admittedly cute) stranger.
Sure, the mask is covering up most of Selena’s face, but Camilla can identify adorable a mile away. Those pigtails are pretty unmistakable too.
“Oh,” Camilla purrs, wrapping her arms around her hero’s neck. “Aren’t you a strong one?”
Selena coughs, and when she speaks, her voice is just a bit deeper than usual. A poor disguise. “You, uh, should get out of here. Civilian.”
Camilla giggles and likes the way she feels Selena tense. It’s fun to tease, but a firefight’s not the best time to talk identity. She’ll let this superhero thing be. For now.
In normal everyday clothes and identity, Laslow tells a story of how he was flirting with the absolute cutest girl last night, right outside that little coffee place, you know the one, and Xander doesn’t care at all but he doesn’t tell Laslow to stop because he’s too distracted with thinking about how Laslow was absolutely not at a coffee shop last night. He couldn’t have been, because that was the same time there was an attack downtown and that masked hero, the flirty one, was there. Xander knows because he was there too, and he swore the masked hero actually winked at him when he ran by. A bold move.
He wonders if Laslow would be so bold if Xander admitted he knew the truth.
He doesn’t. He lets Laslow’s chatter wash over him while he does some paperwork and consider what needs to be done in order to fudge the information that Laslow is the one preventing Garon from blowing up the town dam some more.
And if Laslow leans over Xander’s desk while he talks, so close Xander can feel the heat from him as he writes, Xander doesn’t say anything.
Leo almost immediately figures out what’s up. As soon as the media gets a proper shot of the heroes, that is. The first few times Odin shows up on the news in his secret identity, Leo’s maybe as clueless as everyone else and more than a little frustrated that he doesn’t know who these people or what their plans are, even if they sometimes help. That weird trio gets in the way too, you know.
But as soon as there’s a semi-clear voice clip or snapshot of the side of Odin’s face or something (even with the mask)? You can bet Leo spends that afternoon mentally screaming over how bold or stupid Odin must be to be running around as a hero literally right under Leo and his father’s nose. Like??? It’s so obvious??? Especially with that way he talks, holy shit. He could at least try to be subtle. The next time Leo sees Odin he just. Stares until Odin gets all fidgety and asks if Leo wants the cookies Elise is making or not.
“No,” Leo says flatly. Niles is snickering somewhere in the background, and Leo wants to bang his head on a desk. “I’m fine.”
The moment Odin is gone, Leo brushes his bangs out of his face and sighs. At least Odin is attempting to be discreet. And it’s a trump card if he ever really needs the help going behind his father’s back, or any other reason.
(Later, Niles takes every opportunity he can to make as many innuendos about a certain masked hero when he pops up on their news feed, which is total routine by now. What isn’t routine is that Leo knows that masked hero is Odin, you jackass, that’s why Odin always goes red when Niles brings it up, why didn’t Niles say anything sooner–)
#my text#asks#fe14#superhero au#long post#sorry this took so long! it's been a long day#i really like the idea of hiding out in each other's apartments too bc i am a sucker for protectiveness and injury and stuff#but i tried to stick with the flirty theme as best I could since that what you said you loved the most ;)#also hijinks bc the royals know the Trio's identities but the Trio doesn't know they know

fe anon here! Woah I'm actually crying your answer was so Intense and just So Much. Thank you! I love hearing your thoughts on their relationships. Out of curiosity tho, I sent an ask a while back about whether or not you'd be willing to share some more headcanons on how the Nohrian sibs+Beruka and Niles would interact with/react to the deaged awakening trio (and vice versa)? Bc I know u weren't sure you'd continue. Did Tumblr eat that? If ur comfortable talking about it I'd still love to know!
Oh, no, Tumblr absolutely ate that! My inbox is empty 99% of the time, so I definitely would have remembered something like that. If I don’t answer something within a few days, definitely feel free to re-send any asks because that means I didn’t see it!
As a whole, the kids would be wayyyy more wary of the Nohrians right off the bat, even if they’re told what happened and they believe it. They’d be like, “Really? A world without Risen?” and everyone else would say, “what the fuck is a Risen” and then they’d shut up real fast because these are Strangers. All three would probably be convinced they were actually in Plegia somehow until proven otherwise.
Also, they’d still want to fight because that’s what they’ve been used to their whole lives, but the war is probably over at this point? So it’s just wandering packs of bandits and Faceless to take care of, and if one of the Royal Sibs or even someone the Trio knows goes out to take care of Faceless, the Trio wants to go too because they’re used to protecting their home and they feel restless and anxious to just be sitting around doing nothing.
“No?” Literally everyone else says. “You’re like fourteen???”
“Yeah, and so’s Elise?” the Trio says, even though Elise is a few years older by this point. “It’s the same thing. But we actually have swords.”
“It’s different.”
“It absolutely isn’t.”
It’s uncomfortable for everyone.
Also if they actually did sneak away and fight a Faceless, they’d probably be very efficient about it and work together really well, despite bickering almost 24/7 amongst each other in every other minute of every day. Risen are undead, so they don’t “die” the way most enemies would, and Faceless, though without souls, don’t work the same way? A Faceless is bigger but it will fall if you slice it enough times, unlike a Risen that takes extra effort and energy. So Faceless are actually a little easier to kill, but the fact these 13/14 year olds have so much experience fighting to kill would probably bother anyone that thought about it for 0.2 seconds. “Like. I know we grew up in Nohr, but that’s Not Good.”
Fighting bandits is a different story, and I think if the Trio had to see actual humans hurting other humans, it would mess them up a lot because they came from a time where everyone who didn’t work as a group probably died already? Since lone figures cannot win against a pack of Risen by themselves. So humans vs humans is not anything they really think about until now. Laslow and Odin would probably take this extra hard because their moms were pretty caring and kind people (especially as healers/dancers, whose job it is to help and encourage people), while this would also fuck with Selena but she maybe got a talking to a little more explicitly from her mother or father before they left. (I’m taking this from Laslow’s conversation with Odin in…either the Hot Spring or Harvest Scramble DLC, where Laslow admits that taking his first human life after jumping through time nearly destroyed him because that wasn’t something he thought he’d ever have to do.)
Honestly, living is a peaceful world without fighting is probably the most important thing for their mental health.
Odin
I’ve been lowkey thinking about this for a long time, but Odin would probably gravitate towards Elise a lot? Both because she has a very accepting and bubbly personality (she RP’d with Odin just because it was cool, and now they’re even closer in age so she’d probably do it again) and honestly she probably reminds him of Lissa. Straight up. Blond hair, pigtail style, youngest sibling, healer, cares a lot, etc. Even if he hadn’t recently lost his mom (which was probably semi-recently, since I hc Lissa being the last to go in the doomed timeline), he still would gravitate towards her. So they chill a lot.
Leo is probably like lowkey jealous? Because Odin isn’t as interested in him anymore whereas he’d been totally devoted as an adult. He just wants to chill with Elise and other “cool” people and sometimes be by himself to fight imaginary enemies, so Leo actually gets a little more grumpy. Plus Odin uses swords now? Even though Leo had figured out Odin hadn’t used tomes all his life, it was still something they connected on and now this kid is insisting that swords and swordsmen are the coolest (like Xander) and Leo is very :/// about it. (Until maybe Odin sees Leo use Brynhilder and gets all starry eyed. Doubly so if you hc Odin’s dad as a mage. Leo coughs and blusters and pretends it’s not super strange to be the loudly admired person out of all his sibs for once.)
Niles would put on a big teasing front for Odin and probably follow him around a lot even though Odin probably is really distrustful of him, both because he loves annoying little punk kid Odin who takes himself so seriously and because Niles feels like he has to make sure Odin doesn’t run off and hurt himself. (Either Leo or Niles is always hanging around Odin, actually, or at least has someone they trust watching all three kids because magic is strange and they don’t want anything bad happening because the kids got spooked in this new world or something.)
Actually Niles probably spends the most time keeping an eye on Odin because of that interaction they had when Odin was first de-aged, as Odin’s reaction was so uncharacteristic of his adult self. He’s actually concerned about the kind of world Odin grew up in, and he might not pry too hard, but he’s definitely keeping an eye and ear out for any concerning stuff.
(Odin, meanwhile, thinks Niles is Evil because he’s a creepy guy who keeps following Odin around and he’s heard bad rumors about Niles and Odin’s brain is insistent that this guy Has To Be A Villain.)
(Maybe that changes, but they’d have to have some kind of heart-to-heart first. Maybe because Odin really does go too far and Niles has to pull him out of some trouble.)
Selena
Camilla probably wants to dote on Selena pretty hard, but Selena is Not Having It.
“But this will wear off soon, and it’s not every day I get to see my darling retainer so young and cute,” Camilla coos. “Just enjoy yourself. When you’re an adult again, I’ll having you running errands again in no time.”
Selena: “I don’t know you!! You’re not my mom!! Stop acting like it!”
Camilla, serious: “I’m absolutely not your mother and never will be/want to be.” (Back to cheerful) “But that doesn’t mean we can’t do X/Y/Z together.”
Basically she treats Selena a lot of the same way she treated baby Corrin, only Selena resists it a lot more. As time goes by and they realize through context clues that the Trio actually had a really rough life, Camilla maybe has a few conversations with her about what it’s like to grow up in a world where you can die at any moment and the whole world is out to get you (Selena via the Risen/Grima and Camilla via assassins/the other mothers of her half-siblings and Garon’s wives.) It’s a tough life, and Camilla gets where Selena’s need to fight and get better is coming from.
Beruka probably doesn’t really have any experience with children at this point? She doesn’t know what to do except treat Selena or the others like smaller adults, which Selena actually appreciates a lot but also maybe stresses her out a bit.
When they first meet, Selena looks up at Beruka (probably not too far because Selena is really Tall for her age and also in general and Beruka is probably shorter than adult Selena) and says, “So you’re Lady Camilla’s retainer like me, right?”
“Correct,” Beruka says. Because it is.
“Am I a better retainer than you?” Selena demands, hands on her hips, and Beruka. Stares. Because it’s really driving home that Selena’s insecurities started Young.
(Also if Subaki is ever around, she probably hates his guts because he has red hair like her mom and is viewed as “perfect” because he strives to be so all the time and it makes her too uncomfortable and she Hates It. Niles loves laughing at this 13/14 year old girl chewing the hell out of this grown ass man just for existing.)
Laslow
Laslow is super short, worse about hiding his shyness than he was at twenty-something, and stumbles sometimes when talking to adults (especially beautiful people and people with a lot of power, so Xander is a double-whammy, but so is half the army), but by golly, does he try to flirt with anything that breathes. He’s not as smooth as his adult self, but sometimes he pulls off some okay lines. Even though everyone is like “You…are a child.”
(Laslow gets that he’s a kid and he doesn’t even usually flirt seriously as an adult, but when people keep using that line on him even when he’s trying to do some good and fight, he gets really internally frustrated because he wasn’t a child when everyone died and he had been fighting a war where half the army was his age, was he? Lot of complex feelings there.)
Xander can Relate a lot because he was also super shy as a child and if this is how Laslow overcomes that in his own way (especially since this was apparently his mother’s advice, who Laslow values a lot), Xander doesn’t really want to be the one to stop him. But also he is Exasperated because he keeps getting complaints that this bratty 14 year old is flirting with half the women in the army and town and can he Not??? Can Laslow just chill for like two minutes?? Is there no better solution????
Sometimes he helps teach Laslow how to spar properly, just like he did for Corrin and his other sibs, and he respects Laslow’s apparent drive to protect others and sees somewhat through Laslow’s cheerful, flirty facade to the more struggling kid underneath.
Peri coos over Laslow a bit, but he’s not big enough to fight with her/by her side anymore and she doesn’t want to kill him, so there’s not a ton they can do together. She watches him when told to, though, and sometimes even withought even being told, and they manage to get a long surprisingly well. (She’s a great cook and sometimes shares her snacks with him, and they bond through that.)
All three kids probably interact the same way they did with each other as immature people, so they actually don’t get along very well? When not in immediate danger? Like Odin’s bffs were Cynthia and Brady, probably. He and Laslow keep getting into brawls, which is… mildly concerning, actually. Laslow keeps stealing his journals (”It’s not a diary! Give it back!” “It absolutely is, and no”) and Odin keeps insulting him. Selena and Laslow don’t get along because Laslow is too flirty and Selena thinks he’s just making fun of her. She’s a little better with Odin (who in their FE13 support I think was said to have still treated her with kindness, even when she was mean to him) but she keeps getting flustered and fed up with his antics and growing up?? Is so hard??? It’s so hard, and nobody understands.
The difference between getting along as kids and how they get along as adults is astounding.
(All three of them worry about their friends back home, even though they don’t say anything. Supposedly those guys and gals are all adults now too, but?? Who’s gonna walk Noire to the bathroom at night? Who’s gonna protect Brady? Who’s gonna make sure Gerome doesn’t become too much a loner and die???? They Worry.)
(If you wanted me to expand on something more specific, let me know!)
EDIT: Also one of the kids at some point definitely asks how old they were and get old “like 25” and they are all Shocked. Like. One of them (probably Odin, who also expected to die a heroic death by 16) says aloud “I made it to 20??!??” shocked.
Everyone else takes a moment to compose themselves and remind themselves that there’s a lot they don’t know about these three

Asdfghjkl ok I feel bad bc I’ve asked for a lot of headcanons lately and I know u have a real life so tbh take ur time w this if u want! but I read Sleep Tight and have been thinking about it a lot and I’d love hcs about Odin sleepwalking. How long has he done it? do laslow/Selena check in on him @ night to make sure he hasn’t wandered somewhere dangerous (not as big a prob now as it was when they were kids)? Do Leo and Niles know, or how would they react (esp if they were in a relationship)?
Definitely don’t feel bad, anon! I actually enjoy all the questions you’ve been sending; I love the fe14 characters, but I don’t talk about them much, so questions like these give me a chance to talk and also to think about scenarios I haven’t considered before. So don’t worry! I look forward to them! :D
Odin has probably been sleepwalking since he was a tiny kid and his parents would find he had moved his blanket off the bed and was sleeping on the floor. Mostly because he can’t open doors when sleepwalking. (That’s based on a real experience I had with a person who sleepwalks.) It’s not a constant thing though; as he got older, it would only happen if he was really worried, the same way Lissa struggled to sleep in general when her worries were tough (i.e. it got real bad after his parents died. But it’s way less frequent as an adult.)
It got way better after Grima was defeated, and while it still happened from time to time (mostly during the climax of the war), it’s never reached the same frequency in Nohr as in Ylisse. In Nohr, if he sleepwalks, he usually just ends up somewhere else in his room because he can’t open the door. (In Sleep Tight, it’s mentioned Odin ends up at Laslow’s room a lot in the past week. Sooo… the handle on his door may be broken??) In Ylisse, however, the kids probably lived out of tents a lot of the time. So on sleepwalking nights, Odin was pretty free to wander wherever he wanted. There was usually a sentry to keep him from going too far (camps probs weren’t that big), but? Unless it was another adult?? The kids probably weren’t the best to one another, lmao. Or the most observant always. So Odin would wake up on the ground or to find Brady was holding him in his sleeping bag so he wouldn’t wander anymore. (Unrelated but!! I LOVE Brady!!! And his relationship with Owain!! And how they probably knew each other since they were young!!!!! Love them)
Tents were probably often shared, and if the group had to split up at all, Owain and Inigo probably ended up sharing a tent, despite their constant fighting. Not that Brady and Owain liked being split up (their moms were like sisters, so they’re know each other really well too.) Nobody else can stand either Owain’s monologues or Inigo’s flirting. In a way, they kept each other in check. With insults and some roughhousing. Sometimes Inigo would wake up to find Owain just standing in the entrance to the tent, unmoving. Ngl, it was scary. Laslow maybe screamed the first few times. It was an adventure. Or other nights Owain would wander in from somewhere else and end up at Inigo’s feet or flopped by his side or something. It was weird at first, but everyone has always kinda peripherally known about Owain’s sleepwalking or seen it themselves from a distance, so it just becomes normal after a while. From then on (probably early teenage years?), Inigo takes some responsibility for Owain not wandering off at night without really commenting about it (except for non-seriously complaining). He probably does try to keep an eye on whether Owain is sleeping in the right place or not after that (the same way Owain gets nervous if someone doesn’t make it back to camp on time, but especially people like Inigo or Brady.)
In Sleep Tight I was specifically going for an Awakening Trio OT3, so I hadn’t thoughts about Leo or Niles that much, but I will say there was originally going to be a part where Laslow chides Odin for sleepwalking again and actually does get a bell from Elise so they can hear him walking at night. And also asks what Odin is so concerned about that he’s sleepwalking. Of course Leo overheard and got concerned as well. I don’t remember what Odin’s worry was though, since he usually let’s things like that roll off his back, so most of that got cut, obviously. But Leo did worry too when he heard.
If Leo/Niles/Odin were all dating, their concern would probably vary depending on whether or not they were sharing a room. If Odin sleepwalks alone, then pretty much only he knows (bc he doesn’t normally leave the room, except for in Sleep Tight for plot reasons). If he’s sharing a room with Leo/Niles, then they’d probably wake up as he was moving around and be like, “….What the hell are you doing?” They’d probably figure it out eventually, but Odin would probably be reluctant to admit it’s because he’s worried about something and he’d just say it was a habit sometimes instead. (It’d probably happen near the climax of the war and also when Odin is struggling about the thought of whether or not to return to Ylisse.) Eventually Laslow or Selena would tell Leo/Niles just to put Odin back to bed if he wanders like that.
(Niles, internally: “How well do you know each other? For how long???”)
(Leo, who has long ago accepted the mystery: “Sounds good.”)
If they’re all dating and either Laslow or Selena end up taking care of Odin for the night or even an afternoon, Leo would probably think it just as a practical solution for a while. But if it happened a lot he’d try to make more of an effort to be there when Odin goes to sleep. Which is difficult bc they all have their own duties and, also, war. But he’d still try because he’d feel it was his responsibility to take care of his partner (especially bc Niles and Odin take care of him so much.)
(Also he’s got that canon residual insecurity from having Xander for an older brother that he’d probably be like, “Why do you keep finding them when you’re asleep? Just find me already.”)
Niles would be kinda similar. He’d probably tease Odin a lot, like, “Hoho, sleeping in someone else’s bed, are you? Hmmmmm” *eye emoji*” But a tiny, tiny part of him he wouldn’t want to admit would actually be a little jealous. Or at least following the same thought as Leo in that he doesn’t know why Odin keeps finding other people when he’s asleep and not him. (Because Niles isn’t suited for it? Because Odin subconsciously views Laslow and Selena as safer options? Hmmm. A small part of Niles gets a little melancholy about his past and wonders.)
Also he’d hear the advice Laslow and even Selena try to give and his suspicions about how long those three have really known each other would skyrocket even more.
