thoughts on the update so far from reading posts and watching streams, etc, is that a majority of the difficulty is pretty artificial and lots of the game is unpolished. dont get me wrong its extremely admirable for sonic team to provide this update for free (and apparently its optional? or do new save files have "another story" as default once arriving at ouranous?) but it is very obvious that it was made in less than a year. regardless i think its impressive at least (though i know nothing abt game development so almost anything is impressive to me lol) and its encouraging that this happened at all

#sonic frontiers spoilers #im convinced i probably wont finish it in any timely manner #one of my favorite things was grinding cyberspace stages #i think with all the totk and 100%ing ouranous im extremely burnt on collectathon open worlds #and frankly the update doesnt make the new version of ouranous very appealing to look at or navigate #its a huge shame that the platforms were disconnected from the beginning and the pop in is so unspeakable #because a crazy vibrant landscape with built in loops and silly floating pieces and grinding areas wouldve been incredible to explore #and completely unique/interactive in a way open world games usually arent #and theoretically much better pop in since the obstacle courses are part of the landscape and can be rendered as such #hopefully they take note of that? bc thats pretty popular feedback ive seen---that the islands are unremarkable and the platforming is ugly #heliichats
