So Tassy was great! I didn't exactly have high expectations as it's not really the crowd I usually run with but I did meet some great people regardless. Absolutely beautiful place, just green mountains on every horizon and massive bush lands surrounding the whole city of Hobart. I met a big bear of a dog named Devil who had the sweetest woos. Stole a trolley to taverse our gear. Ended up playing two shows, one on the first night in a beautiful warm coloured pub. We headlined that night too. The second was the last night at an afterparty at someone's house in the middle of the bush. It's where I wrote and posted my last post. I did take home covid though, I've been feeling fine with it, just a mild cold for me this time.

I saw so many bands, didn't wear mutes for all of them. I wore my mutes for the forst gig we played but took them out because I couldnt hear properly hahah. Almost blew my ears out too haha. They were pretty open places to perform at so it was ok. I think I was standing for over 48 hours all up and fucked up my lower back, Terry- I mean Tassy turned my back into a loose stack of pebbles.

They had so many public electric scooters that were actually taken care of, which is super rare in Sydney haha. Also went through a street market, I fucken love those haha. So many great handmade things and the obvious cheap crap lol. Great gin too, so many gin distelleries, though my favourite is Hendricks from Scotland.

There was a Lil drama, though no band trip would be without them I guess. I shared a room with my bandmate, and he brought a girl into the room to hook up with one night, while I was there trying to sleep! I was lucky they were so drunk I think they forgot to actually fuck hahaha. Omg the snoring from both of them lol. But thats ok.

I hope these posts make you comfortable, your posts aren't too long, I actually like them long (lol) it give me more insight into what's going on with you and how you're doing. I'm about halfway through round 6 of 4 day rotations in Pleasantview. Each round has had 1 twin birth. Revising my rules to say only after halfway through adulthood can the 4th level of aspiration tree be reached. My currrent ages have sims starting adulthood at 22 (also when acr allows pregnancies to begin). I have not adjusted the fertility arc in acr (fertility begins decreasing at 30 i think, with 0 reached at age 50). They age to elders at 70 in my game though. So at age 30? I would add the 4th tree level (40 days to elderhood). I add second aspirations at adulthood, but haven't really made rules about how strong up the tree that goes. I have discovered I don't like the needs tree. With a good bed they almost never sleep.(this means i play daniel pleasant out on dates-3 in a day) plus the home lot to make him tired enough to sleep at night. I do not have the comunity time mod. I've had sims stay out for 24+ hours to get them tired enough, and that would be awful to wait through on the home lot! I also think that the lower the overall needs are the more frequently they reroll wants. And in basegame guide it said must sleep in a bed for 3 hours to even reroll wants when they rise. Discovering the cheat to increase allowed visitors was a blessing. Especially for going on dates or hunting date material. When you're related to half your peers with only two visitors allowed; finding townies to woo was rough🤣.

So far the only sims to age to elders have been the Pleasants. Daniel was caught cheating for the 3rd time when a townie asked him if he wanted to meet someone perfect for him (I didn't realize this immediately started a date) and had 3 bolts with Bella Goth. Mary-Sue decided enough was enough, and broke up with him immediately after the date ended- and I was caught off guard again when he became unselectable and left the lot. (I had planned for him to pack his exercise machine but Mary-Sue had other plans). He has since married Marylena Hamilton, whom he knocked up with twins! As she was a townie, I rolled my percentile dice and she was the unlucky one. Used sim blender to move her in, then impregnate with, then had her find her own place. I thought for sure he would run away or turn her down when she proposed and suggested elopement. She is the last house of the round though, so I haven't had a chance to play them yet for round 6. My next house to play is Nina Caliente, who married Benjamin. Her first child is just getting ready to head off to college in a day or so...the hot tub did not protect her on day one from Don Lothario. Since she is so shy I saw her as a one sim romance...constant dates. Very rare to see a meet someone new want in her panel, and her kids bringing home friends fills that regularly. Not entirely sure how friends are counted in this game... Brandi's friend count cut down to just 3 when her last child moved out to college... I've removed the no carpool for mother's mod, but not sure they get paid for using vacation. I know they weren't getting paid with that mod in. (My families are all dirt poor) Lillie managed to bring back several thousand from grants/ scholarships, which is good because she still hasn't rolled a want to get a job...

Dirk Dreamer married Lillith a few days after she moved in with him (went by day of the week when they moved out, so the girls are actually younger than the boys). While her sister got immediately knocked up with twins Lillith did not, and her husband found a lamp on his last day as a teen so wished for wealth. They have a very nice house, which is good. Maybe Dirk will take in his half siblings and help raise them. I just thought of that- I had Mary-Sue take them in (via sim blender so no name change/ memory) The dog was originally Dirk's so that was the only thing I was thinking when I moved the kids into the Pleasant house. "Okay, Y/N and Wooyoung get in the 3rd row," Yunho said after placing everyone's luggage in his car. You were going on a roadtrip to Boryeong with your bestfriend, Jung Wooyoung, his friends (who also became your friends) and some of their significant others.

You had to sit on Wooyoung's lap at the back of Yunho's 7-seater car as the seat beside you was occupied with some bags.

Wooyoung got into the car and sat down before you followed his actions, settling on his lap. "You good, Woo? Am I too heavy?" you asked, trying not to put all your weight on him.

"Nah, I'm all right," he answered and placed an arm around your waist, pulling you against his chest. "You can sit comfortably." You were glad you were facing away from him; you didn't want him to see how your cheeks heated up.

Once everyone was settled in both the cars, Yunho and Seonghwa began driving. Since it was really early in the morning, everyone decided to sleep during the two hour drive.

You weren't feeling sleepy, so you were scrolling through your Instagram, looking at various posts. The song changed and you squealed when you realized it was one of yours and Wooyoung's favorite songs. You glanced at where Wooyoung was seated, but he wasn't there.

You felt someone wrap their arms around your waist, pulling you against their chest. One glance at the man's arms was enough for you to know who he was.

Books I read in February

The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson - This is a nonfiction historical book telling the history of the Great Migration of black Americans from the South to the North. The book specifically follows the lives 3 real black Americans that moved up north during different time periods and the author connects their stories to the historical whole. As someone who is vaguely interested in studying history I was just in awe of this book as a piece of historiography, like the amount of interviews she did in general, the amount of time she had to spend with each of the three subjects and the creative work she did with compiling that into narratives, combined with all the research present in the essay-like breaks...Like I get tired thinking about it. As a reader both the history and the narrative parts are very compelling and play well off each other, like even though the subjects are real they’re so interesting if they weren’t the story would still be good, which ig is why she chose those three people out of the hundreds she interviewed. Warning, it is very graphic especially at the beginning describing the brutality black people faced at that time.

The Neverending Story by Michael Ende -  So after a heavy historical text I wanted to read something a bit lighter so a children’s classic it is! I never actually watched the movie so I was judging it as is and I enjoyed it overall. It’s a typical child goes to a magical world story with a fun meta element. The first half was lovely, the second half dragged a bit but I think that was somewhat intentional as the quests began to lose meaning as Bastian lost who he was. Reading the book made me a little disappointed that the actor cast as Bastian wasn’t fat, as I feel like it’s rare to have sympathetic fat characters,especially main characters in children’s media and I feel like it played a significant role in his characterization in the book. So yeah I’d say it’s not my favorite book of it’s kind, it’s worth the read. 

Race Against Time by Jerry Mitchell - Again a very graphic book regarding racial issues. Race Against Time is a nonfiction true crime book about Mississippi reporter Jerry Mitchell’s journey of getting old civil rights era murders reopened and the murderers tried. It delves into the ways that the KKK was and still is tied to the police in these small southern towns. It’s a depressing but very rewarding read. 

How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen by Joanna Faber & Julie King - Yes this is a parenting book I leached off my mom’s audible account what of it? But yeah this book is amazing and anyone looking to have/work with little kids should read it. Honestly I feel like a lot of these tips work for talking with some ppl online as well..

Obsession: Reflections on the Tyranny of Slenderness by Kim Chernin -  This is a 1980s feminist work wherein the author discusses eating disorders and why it seems that women are haunted by a constant underlying obsession with their weight. I got the 2nd or 3rd edition of this book but apparently the first edition of the book spent a lot of time arguing that eating disorders were real because people thought it was just women being crazy...which is just wild to think about. But yeah while it was extremely influential it is very much a product of 2nd wave feminism in terms of assuming a universal female experience and a lot of focus on the female body. Which makes sense given that cis women were/are the vast majority of eating disorder sufferers but I could very easily see how people could get dysphoric from the biological essentialism, especially in some of the chapters get into some of that moon mother womb woo woo that I’m not a fan of. But I think that if you’re a cis woman or just willing to deal with that stuff and read critically it’s a valuable read that challenged some of my internal thought processes.

Playing in the Dark by Toni Morrison - Honestly I’m not sure if this counts as a book or a long essay, the audiobook was only 3 hours. Basically it’s Toni Morrison arguing for an Africanist lens of American literary studies in the same way as feminist or marxist analysis. She argues that African American scholars who want to analyze things from the perspective of race are pushed to their own African American Studies corners rather than accepted the broader field of literature, and she rightly believes that it is impossible to look at American Literature without the lens of race. So yeah this book is good but it didn’t blow me away or anything because it’s preaching to the choir but perhaps if I was a true intellectual who had actually read the books she was referencing I’d enjoy it more.

3rd Nov. Birthday!!

For some reason I am up and awake at 6.30. I’m like a kid on Christmas morning. How did this happen? I have been struggling to wake up at 8.30 for the last week and now I'm up before the sun. I have to be in Kyoto at 10am to meet up with the hosts that will be showing me an authentic samurai experience. I leave plenty of time to get ready but of course, still rush out the door. I really don't want to be late for my date with a katana! As I ride my bike I’m singing, I don’t care if anyone hears because it’s my birthday and I’m bloody happy!! I see a police car has pulled someone over. The lights are flashing and the funniest thing ever! It’s like they have extender arms underneath them to lift them higher hahaha! I feel like that is super pointless but whatever, you go Glen Coco! 

An American girl meets us at the nearby station. She is wearing a kimono and will be our interpreter. We arrive at the Samurai house which was an old samurai’s house built about 200 years ago. The lady explains that the house is in very good condition for being that old and that is a very larger house to have owned back in that period; it includes bedrooms, a tea room and kitchen, plus a guest house (3 rooms), front and back garden and an outhouse. She said for someone to have built this, they must have been in a very high role. Inside is some beautiful artwork and a statue. First we are dressed in the samurai clothing that they would have worn back then. It looks really hard to tie up and it has to be precise! In the second room we enter there are 12 panels around the room. Each panel has a picture and they all represent a month of the year. November is 2 crows in the autumn leaves. Above one of the walls there are 2 symbols cut out over the wooden beam. One symbol represents the samurai's side of the family and the other one represents the woman of the house's side of the family. They are first carved separately and then together. Beautiful. Our sensei for today explains how he is worried that Japanese history is being forgotten by some as the culture modernises. (This all coming from him and then translated by the American interpreter)

We are shown the katana and a traditional performance that is done often when practicing the art. First he bows to the audience and then the sword. When he bows to the sword, the left hand is placed on the floor first and taken off last. This is in case an enemy tries to attack while you are bowing and so you can quickly grasp your sword with your right hand. He then starts to whip it around. The sounds it makes is so loud! The art of a samurai has a lot to do with meditation. You need to be focused and mentally able to face anything. I’m very impressed with his skills. And very close, I feel like if I were any closer, I would’ve gotten a hair cut. We are taken into the back garden where the samurai demonstrates what we will be doing today. A straw mat is in front of him, and in 2 seconds flat he has sliced it up like your favourite dessert. He is very good! After this it is our turn. We go to the front garden and are all given a wooden sword. When handing a katana to another person the blade has to be facing you with your hands cupped at the bottom. We practiced the foot steps first, and then the motions with our arms. Very cool!

The interpreter asks who would like to go first. Awkward silence so I volunteer! WOOO LET’S DO IT! I am given the katana the way I just explained and have a few practice movements. It’s a lot heavier than the wooden one and it’s a little bit rickety. I move over to where the mat is standing and again, practice movements. Like when you practice your golf swing but absolutely no momentum. Right, it was time to go. The first swing was ok. I hit it really high up which meant there was a lot more mat to slice! The second one went flying over the garden, woo! By the fourth one I was a winner!! That was so much fun! I walk over to the others and I am literally shaking. What a crazy and one-of-a-kind experience!

After everyone else had had their turn, we drank some tea and headed back inside. Next to experience was meditation. I have tried many times before but haven’t actually reached full zen. It is a difficult skill for one to have. To help with today’s meditation, they have metal bowls which make a beautiful sound when played right. We face outwards and take deep breaths through the nose, out the mouth while our hosts play the sounds from the bowls. Taking in turns, a bowl is placed on our heads and played. It feels like someone is pushing really hard on your head but the sounds easily takes that feeling away. These bowls actually originate from Hong Kong (maybe?? I can’t remember!). The reason they didn’t use the Japanese version is because they were too heavy and would’ve squashed us haha! Our sensei then plays us a song on a traditional Japanese flute. It sounds exactly like historic Japan. So beautiful! I have had such an amazing experience and I’m so glad I got to do this on my birthday. November 3rd is also culture day in Japan, I have learned about the culture and history of the samurai today. Culture - check!!

I leave the samurai’s house and venture into central Kyoto. I’m pretty hungry so if I see somewhere I’d like to go for lunch, I’m going to stop. On a random side street there is a restaurant, a lot of people seem to be going in so I am intrigued. I walk in and there’s some other people waiting too; if you have to wait in a restaurant in Japan, you know it’s going to be good! I am seated on a larger table where other people are sitting too. They hand me an English and Japanese menu, brilliant! I end up ordering pork tenderloin cutlet with crab croquette which comes with rice, salad and miso. Oh, of course a beer! A couple is seated next to me and we get talking! His English is so good! I was saying how I am going to Hakuba for the winter to snowboard and he said lived in Vancouver for years. Brilliant, this is my type of person! We talked about so much shit including his eBay business and how not many people in Japan use eBay (random); ideas for my business plans in the future; how Japanese don’t speak in English a lot and it must be hard for me (it’s not); she is a DJ at a famous club in Kyoto as well! So cool! They also gave me a couple of bars to go to! Brilliant people! As we were talking they bought out sesame seeds with a mortar and pestle. No idea what to do so I start crushing them like everyone else. Once crushed, you can add your choice of sauce which are in front of you then dip your cutlets in it. Cool! The food was amazing and I’ve really stumbled onto a winner here! We cheers-ed to a great meal and I was on my way again!

I choose to do a bit of shopping after because my sister and her family sent me some money! Have a browse in the antique stores and other stores. I end up buying a shirt that says “fisherman’s club - hookers” hahaha and a brilliant hat which I am so in love with! I stop at a cafe called Cream Soda. Everything made here looks like it’s from a cartoon, cute! The girls behind me are staring at me... why! I can see you! Have you never seen a gaijin before?? (Gaijin means forgiener but literally translates to outsider haha!) I order a strawberry milk with whipped cream. It’s pretty delicious and the straw is a love heart! “I love it!”

After this I need a drink. The only bar I can find that's open at this hour (3.30pm) is an Irish bar, great! Pint of beer. Cocktail for Ash because I’m missing her! Scooner, and I am pissed haha! I had a good chat with the bartender but the only other people that were in the bar were a group of middle aged tourists. Time to go home and get ready! I’m feeling some fried chicken so I stop for some of Lawson’s famous chicken. Delicious! So bad for you though.. I’m pretty drunk at this stage and I start singing and minding my own business. Are you allowed to ride a bike when you’re intoxicated? Oh well, I’m on vacaaay!! I blink and suddenly realise that I don’t recognise anything around me... I think I’ve missed the turn. This is what I get for singing and prancing about. There’s a 7/11 on the next corner so I stop, wifi, toilet, ask for directions and leave with some more chicken hahaha! Back the way I came... I missed it by a long shot!

I get ready and grab a taxi to Zaza Pub. My taxi driver is the nicest man ever! He doesn’t know much English and my Japanese isn’t great either but we still manage to make conversation. The words we understood were: Koala, kangaroo, the station where I was going, little, have a nice day, thankyou so much. I think that was it haha! I walk into the bar and grab myself 2 Heinekens - don’t want to have to come back so soon. I end up playing darts with some French guys. The French are actually so about themselves hey! I could tell that was how they were bought up though... surely they’re not doing this on purpose. I start talking to some Brazilians and this old Japanese guy. What a legend! He knows everything! Hahaha we had great conversation to my recollection and many ‘o’ beers!! We ended up drinking and talking until late. Great guys! Time for Lawson’s chicken and bed though. Lucky I didn’t ride my bike into the city... She would not have held up!

Omg getting in the game feels soo amazing, like I have said I have not played in sooo long so i feel this will be the ultimate test for my capabilities, the good thig is that not many people know each other so that’s good. My idea for the first day is just to talk to everyone see where they are if they know anyone etc etc. This is just veery exciting!

Feeling good about my tribe, most people have actually talked which is a big plus. Getting good vibes from Shea, and Miguel, and Federico a bit. If Alyssa is the Alyssa I know she’ll be fun to work with too. Still though, early days on the Kato beach. First challenge is kind of annoying though as some of the items are ??? But I’ve done some videos and I’ll try and do more.

I can already tell that this is going to be an interesting season just based on the people that I already know coming into the game. I'm happy that on my tribe I already know Tim, Jess, and Zach so that should be good for me for at least the first few rounds. I don't really want to stick with the people I already know though because that's boring. I'm happy Alyssa is on the other tribe and not my tribe right now because I have no intention on working with her because people love doing whatever she says in orgs and I'm not here for it. If we get onto a tribe together or both make it to merge, she is my target and I won't be quiet about it. Might as well focus on my own tribe for now though. Besides the 3 mentioned before, I have only spoken to Karthik who seems alright so that's good. Only issue is that he's like 10.5 hours ahead timewise so that's going to be interesting. I still need to talk to the others but all in good time.

jess - she's a likeable queen but she has a big tendency to leave me on read. i think this is either her thinking i'm boring but i'm not sure. ik in TS guyana she was criticized at FTC for being lacklustre in responding so i'm hoping it's just that opposed to something on my behalf. she's really cool tho!! karthik - karthik is short in response sometimes but never leaves our convo on read, which i respect. he seems to know that i won embb9 + am 'really liked' in the community.. he rlly is delusional huh? jk ASKGDS he's great tho. i know my friends like him and he can be a great player so i'm anticipating working with him hopefully. stephen - stephen is a king too. he's someone that probably would know some of my game ig but... who knows. he's relevant in EM. our conversations have been fun and i'm really hoping to get close to him because he seems chill. timmy - i know timmy from tumblr. currently he's not that great socially but i do like him and we have a long ass snapchat streak. there are a few tumblrs in this game but afaik i don't have any bad blood with him so i'm def planning on roping him in. the most recent thing is he backdoored my mom's duo in his last org AKSGLDSG so... stan list. daniel - daniel knows me from a past org that i put no effort into, which i think is fine because i really only made it far since my duo/partner dragged me. i'mma play up a perception with him, but he is really cool as of now. i am SOOO worried that i did something bad or mean in that game and he's going 2 haunt me LOL. tim - tim is the person i've connected with most. he's really chill, actively messages me back, and is just fun and flirty. we've already talked about him and his potential boy, our favourite cereals and overall eating. i know him from tumblr too, but vaguely, but i was apart of the 'evil friendgroup' whereas he was on the other, 'nice friendgroup', but i'm hoping that has minimal impact if any. liam - liam is fine. i know him from FB but we've never interacted. he knows i played egypt so... if that's his perception of me.. i'm FLYING. he's really nice though + is a fellow canadian, so i'm hoping to get close to him. woo!! ally - saving the best for last. ally is really nice and i do like her a lot. she is sweet and like... we're great pals ?? there's prob more but that's it for now. i'm not going to focus my game on that meta ^ whatsoever. i just need 2 keep in mind who's with who and who has some friends from before. idk. just a good mental note type thing. every game is a new slate tho so i'm not holding any preconceived notions abt them.

So, I'm really happy to be here. This is my 3rd or 4th time applying so I feel ready and excited to play! I was super happy to see Alyssa on my tribe as we get along super duper well. I like my tribe overall.

This first challenge has me a bit nervous. I started my new job today and they didn't give me a very long break for the hours I worked and my ankle and knee are really acting up (I broke my ankle in like 2014 and my knee in 2016 and they still hurt a lot sometimes). I'm worried because I'm not sure if I'm going to be physically able to like dance around and do crazy stuff like that. It sucks that the first challenge is something I can't physically.

I'm just hoping even if I don't do the best in the challenge that I can kind of make some strong social ties so I'm not the first one out if we lose. I feel really good about Alyssa, Luke, and Jake right now. My strategy is always just to be in everyones good graces. If nobody wants me out, I won't leave, that's the goal.

I was finally able to get part of my submissions from my challenge submitted and I plan on doing more tomorrow. I have been speaking with most of my tribe mates and I'm liking them a lot. I did get a bit of a late start so I'm worried some alliances might have formed but, it's all part of the game. I have good relations with Shea and Jake and I hope to further relations with Miguel and Federico so I have some solid foundations to work with and so I can hopefully have some numbers in case we go to tribal. I'm also proud of myself for going on camera multiple times for the video portion of the challenge as it was something I would have never considered doing in past orgs I have played.

I'm not the best with confessionals, but I'll try my best! I'm quite enjoying these people so far, and I've really connected well with Zach, Jess, Ally, Karthik and Tim. That being said, I don't wanna really worry about allies just yet, winning is the first priority.

So me and the tribe are getting along pretty well! The challenge is going ok so far but I still want to try and win! It seems as if we lose its Karthik.. but who knows!! Its time for fun pals and gals.

Talking with Luke about not wanting to go to tribal first but I’m low key channeling Aubrey and would love to solidify an alliance as early as possible, which tribals help with.

I'm sad that we lost although I expected to lose and I'm actually quite glad that Karthik got sent to the basement. This means they are safe without me having to campaign for them. The person with the 2nd lowest score, Timmy, should be on the chopping block to my knowledge. I'm lowkey ok with this bc he doesnt contribute much to convos…

Ahh this game has been amazing for me so far! We won the immunity challenge so I won’t have to vote anyone out! I have made genuine connections with many people in the tribe and I got kind of separate deals with, Stephen, Federico, Shea and Luke so I think they have my back. I have also talked a lot with TJ and Jake but no deal or alliance have been made with them. But as a group I don’t have like a group of allies yet just 1 on 1 alliances. In case we lose I would try to vote out either Isaac or Alyssa.

First day is over, and I can't be more relieved. I love the fact that I cannot be the first voted out, and even more, I love that I feel as if I've made some good connections so far. I really think Alyssa and I will be able to work well together. Yes, we have some stuff to work out from before, but I want it to work out such that we can work together throughout this game. I really like Federico and LH, and I'm hoping things stay this way for the time being. I'd like to keep winning, but when that time comes that we lose, I need to be ready.

Being put on a tribe with the guy who I literally got out in another game less than a month ago is a mood.... I'm working EXTRA HARD on making sure Tim likes me and trusts me. I'm going to use the fact that I'm a loyal a$$ bitch here and hope he thinks I would ride to him to the end (Honestly I probably would. I LOVE TIM).

Other than Tim the other people I'm vibing with so far are my two Canadian QUEENS: Zach and Aly. Aly seems like she can pop-off at any second but so far she seems like someone I can work with going forward. Zach on the other hand needs to STOP BRINGING UP GUYANA. For some reason he's praising me which NORMALLY I'D LOVE because I don't think the words: Jess, Praise, and Guyana have ever been said....but he's putting a target on my back.

Other than my Canucks... I really like Stephen but he's intro SCARES ME. He seems like he's going to cause some chaos down the line...

Well we just lost the challenge ;( I’m hinestlg not feeling too safe at the moment. I was one of the lower scoring players on the tribe, and the lowest was sent to the basement. Right now I feel like a sitting duck. But on the bright side, I think I made a decent connection with Zach and Timmy. So I’m just gonna talk around find out a vote. If it’s not me yay! If it is, then I’ll just have to somehow fight my way through it :p

Woooo first confessional!! I'm liking the start of this game, and I've decided to take it a bit lighter than past games. I'm here to have fun. This doesn't mean I'm not ready to strategize, but maybe the lighter tone will help me not fall under the same mistakes I always make.

I'm getting closer to Miguel and Shea, which is bad if you consider they were the lowest scores in the challenge... They better start getting more involved in this!!!

So I've gotten a chance to talk with most of the people on my tribe. Right now, my closest ally is probably Karth. We have an established history of working well together, and right now, were searching for the idol together. I'm also pretty close with Ally and Zach, and trying to get closer with Jess, though I can't tell if she thinks I'm too gamebotty or not. Ally, Zach, and Jess also seem to have some kind of relationship with each other. Idk if it's an alliance but it's something. In light of this, I'm going to be trying to get closer with Tim, Dan and Liam. I think Tim and Liam know Jess though so that might be a hurdle I need to deal with. Someone I've left out of this discussion is Timmy. I've talked with every voter so far except Dan, and they all seem okay with letting him go. There's always paranoia that they're all just playing me, but I really doubt it is gonna be the case here. My biggest worry now is what position I'll end up in if we keep losing challenges.

HELLO. Okay so we won the Selfie Scavenger Hunt which is GOOD. Someone I don’t know got sent to isolation for the other tribe but that’s fine. TJ and I were kind of on the same page of sending Jess to keep her safe which is good that we are!! She’ll be fine though because she did the best in the selfie scavenger hunt, unsurprisingly. Haven’t really talked game with anyone besides TJ because there’s hasn’t yet been a need to, but I’ve been having personal conversations with most of my tribe! Isaac just messaged me today which I think is the last one. But yeah! Things are going okay! Woo!

So me and Jess are officially aligned! I shared my idol grid with her and we talked about our tribemates. I really haven't connected with everyone but I have at least talked to them. It appears as if the vote will be Timmy unless someone magically pulls out the idol and plays it on him or the vote somehow flips on to someone else. The scary part is that Timmy is being quiet asf.... and I have no idea what is up his sleeve. The basement twist is gonna be really scary next round if we lose and someone can be sent back to the basement twice in a row…

I came into this game, saw Shea, and had an absolute fucking breakdown djdhdjdj. Like who am I? I need to get it together and push in the challenges because I didn’t help with the first one at all because seeing Shea just did something to me? Like? I’m going to try to put more effort in moving forward but right now I feel like Aubry in Kaoh Rong when she had that attack, hopefully I can recover as well as she did.

I'm ready to punch a bitch. I have no idea what is happening with this tribal and I just hope it's not me. I keep hearing about the "majority" and people want to vote with the "majority" but nobody is saying who it is and what it is just that they don't want to be the one to say a name. So I'm being forced to say Liam because that's easier than Stephen even though Stephen was the one saying my name, but honestly it is what it is, I haven't spoken to Liam so I don't care that much. I just don't get why people play if they're just going to hide behind someone else because that's so stupid, like just play for you. Okay WOOOO. So hey, I'm here doing a DR pre-season, because? I am cracked, a mess and SOOO EXCITED. Also, I looked up fun words, to find something to use as my confessional codeword, and "brouhaha" means "a noisy and overexcited reaction or response to something" WHICH IS SO APPROPRIATE. So woo, enjoy the brouhaha that is my excitement for this season. I just wanna say a couple of things: 1) Nicholas and Julia posting those clock gifs is gonna make my head fall off, thats so scary. If it means past season twists like someone said in the VL, I'm NERVY. RoseGold POVs are my biggest fear, and I know there was a season where prejury was all about them so YIKES. Calling it now, I'm gonna get sent home by a rosegold PoV. 2) Emily and Lukas was such an iconic F2, no matter whomst the F2 is in Orre, we will never match them 3) I wanna make some pre-season picks of who I expect to see cast, that way if they win, I can take total credit. I'm feeling like Raffy, Sammy and Aren might be in the cast, based on literally nothing khajsdfla. Raffy as a player terrifies me (I was also the person who brought him into this community so whew), but he gets CRACKED so whew! Aren is a scorpio so we stan. ANYWHO. I'm so excited for this season, its gonna be a HOOOOOT.

Hola, did you miss me? This is going to be me reflecting back on my Johto experience and trying to point out the mistakes I made, and how this game will be different. (this is before cast reveal) The first mistake I did in Johto was go against the premade. I was wary of Connor and Ari, and I thought painting the target on the returnee wouldnt only be easy but would be successful. And then I found out that I couldn't, and then Connor made friends with everybody on my team and fucked me over in the long run. The second mistake I did in Johto was being messy. A prime example was making pseudo "alliance" chats in order to sway the vote for people to keep me. This proved to be unsuccessful. I also had a mental breakdown like every night, so that just buried me more. The third mistake I did in Johto was throw the veto the week I was nominated. I felt like I couldve won it but I decided to study for my test. I didnt compete in the pov that i  shouldve won. SO now its time to do what I need to do for my redemption is quite simple. The last 3 ORGs ive played for BB i have made 2nd, 4th, and 3rd. And I learned quite a lot To negate my first mistake I'm not going to publicly target anbody. I will join the mob mentality to ensure my safety in early weeks. To negate my second mistake I am going to keep all my alliances as 1on1s. No alliances bigger than 3 people, and make sure to keep whatever information I have to myself. I will not snake out any information. To negate my third mistake is to try in all competitions. I will not throw anything I will not submit for anything unless I really cant. If I give it my all and still leave I can't beat myself up that bad. I'm nervous, but I'm ready. These freaks aren't gonna know what hit them.

WHEWIE. Okay I tried filming a video confessional, but my thoughts are such a mess, so I've decided writing it out will be considerably more coherent. YIKES SO. This season is already so wild, like this cast.... is gonna be a lot. I already can tell this season is going to have lots of fights and I don't know... how ready I am for that eeeek. But otherwise, my illiteracy means I don't understand the lottery twist so I love that. The returnee twist is fun though, like I feel like at the start of games, I go into panic mode, so having returnees I can go to about that, might make them feel like I'm an easy number and that they want to work with me? The people I knew before this season (like I'd actually spoken to): Bryce, Julia, Ashvika, Autumn & Olivia (I loosely knew Ricky, Blake & Sammy too) Within the game itself, the people I've had the best conversations with are Jose, Kat, Olivia, Ashvika & John. Olivia is like one of my favourite people in the community, and also a super good player so I'd love to work with her. I also think the fact that we are friends is something nobody in the cast should know (I think) so thats fun. Jose was such a big threat/player last season, and the vibe I get from him this time is he wants to tone that down? I'm not good at working with super cracked people, so him being slightly in the middle between UTR and cracked, will make him a super good person to work with I think. He is also the only person I've like...talked game with, even though its super limited, just that I wanna work with him. I'm a weirdo and watched all the Alola cast assessment stuff, and it sounds like Kat was playing really well, but got stuck in a funky position and couldn't recover, so I think she is gonna be a major threat this time and I'd love to work with her too woooo. Ashvika is a queen. Just plain and simple. She is so wholesome and nice, and already seems loosely on the same page as me, so thats iconic. John scares me ajkhsdfaslf. i think he is a total newbie, and I also think he is gonna get super cracked, and thats.... scary asdkjflas Dennis I just started talking to properly, he is in my timezone-ish, so that will be good for my sleeping pattern if he ever wins HoH or anything, but I worry he may struggle to make connections, so I'm not sure how much he can help me as an ally? Okay SO. I filmed a video confessional earlier, but its already super out of date so its time for an update! I have spoken to lots of people that I hadn't talked to since premiere night which is good, Alivia & Kat are so nice! Jose is, as always a king, and I think (other than Olivia) he is my closest ally rn, so woo we stan. Otherwise, I spoke to Bryce, and it seems like (praise be), I'm not getting nominated, WOO! He says he is nominating Roxy/Autumn, with Julia getting the future shock thingie. Like I told him, the future shock is kind of like a curse and we know Julia loves a good curse, so its a good matchup aljdfkas. Otherwise, these nominations make sense. I LOVE Autumn, but she has been the quietest person in the cast, so I assume she is gonna go first rip. Roxy I have spoken to a fair bit, but I know she is in a funky timezone, which probably throws off her ability to be active. Bryce seemed like he was being pretty open with me, so I hope I'm not the backup plan if somebody comes off. I feel like my social game is pretty strong so I wouldnt have thought people in the house would push for me as a renom and eI'd be suprised if I get nominated! Last but not least, the unfortunate thing is how MENINIST these nominations are akjsdfla, we are really putting the orre in discriminatorrey.

I'm going to play a strong balance of a great 1 on 1 social game while still being a great personality people love. As of right now I'm being constantly dragged and roasted, and I wouldn't want it any other way. (But this is before HOH so the claws are bound to come over) So my game has been very social as of right now. Before HoH I focused on making genuine connections. I'm good with all the returnees at this point. None of them have beef with me, and I made it clear that I want to work with all of them (while this is farther from the truth). I'm just being diplomatic because there's some tension between the returnees that will have to be released soon. With the returnees I connected automatically with Zeezo. Me and her didnt even small talk its was just game talk from moment one. Thats a great relationship to have, and I'm definitely maintaining it. Jose and Alivia have been talking to me more. Jose has been more open with working with me than Alivia so : \\. All the returnees from Kanto-Sinnoh are here because theyre entertaining, the bitches from Unova-Alola would be casted for redemption but don't meet the criteria. I made an alliance with Jelaminah and Ricky. This is mostly because I need to be on Jelaminah's good side because I know the bitch knows how to play. So i would rather be scheming with her than against her. Ricky is just a number. On housecalls I saw that Jela was talking to Julia a lot. So I started talking to Julia a lot more. I surprisingly trust her a lot more than I thought I would. So me and her aren't beefing, but her and Bryce are. HOS20 affects this game because Julia and Saxon are aligned in this game and they're against Bryce and Sammy as of right now. I know Julia can drop a vendetta, but Saxon is just horrible about it. And I hate Saxon so much. He just gives me second hand embarassment and i dont know why. Like I'm so happy I've trained myself to hold my tongue because the shit he wears on housecalls actually make me laugh. He posted a picture of him shirtless and it was literally looking at rotten spam meat. Its not cute, and he is just so prude in pms because he obviously doesnt want to talk to me. I can make a separate DR about Saxon because he brings out all the hate and all the angst I had when I was in Johto. But going back to the topic Julia fought Sammy and Bryce ig and Saxon thinks Julia is right because he's a kissass and is a savvy feminist. I love Julia so her having beef isnt good. I talked to her and she said she didnt have good relations with Olivia, Bryce, Sammy, and Autumn. And i was shocked that this game is so against her, but this is great information because its something I can utilize. But those are her problems, and they dont affect me. He doesn't talk a lot in the housechat which is concerning to me, but he does hold very strong one on one relations with most of the house. Lynn is also a south carolina native, and she is just so infectious. She is very intimidated by the large cast meaning that she hasnt bonded that well with a lot of people. So i put two and two together and made a South Carolina alliance. I know Blake is genuine about it. But the main purpose of this alliance is to keep Lynn under my sphere of influence. I can't have no newbies on my side. No ma'am Another newbie who stands out for me is John. John is just really active, and such a social threat. Meaning that his word has saying. So far my relationship with him has been "hey let literally help you with anything and expect nothing in return". With him im trying to show myself as a puppet, or somebody who is very very useful with him. And I actually showed that this week when Bryce won HOH. Won't lie I didnt want but also wanted HOH at the same time. When Bryce won it I was very wary of what was going to happen. Then John comes up to me saying that Bryce is thinking of nominating him. And since I had a decent bond with Bryce I know that I had to save John. So when Bryce talked to me he was dead set as Roxy as the initial nom and target, and Julia for safety this week.  Then he mentioned that he was on the fence because he didnt know if he wanted Autumn or John nominated. So I told him the truth that it would be silly to nominate somebody as active as John. And so John wasn't nominated. I stuck my neck out for John and was one of the reasons he isn't nominated this week. And these game things build genuine trust since I'm not just talking to talk. I'm walking to walk and this game isn't ready for Randyy.

League Night of 7-22-17

Well this past league was interesting! We saw gas, we saw Kruphix get a leg up, and we saw our resident Grixis player abandon red for a better outcome!

Ho boy, there was a LOT of blue and green. More blue than anything. If only Hazezon and Sevala could swim. 

Since there was only 5 of us this past weekend, we did a pod of 5 people.

Game one was fast…, and not just like, meh…, yeah, turn 20 and 40 minutes later fast, I’m talking turn 5 and pretty much game fast.

The Scarab God Arcanis, the Omnipotent Hazezon Tamar Sevala, Explorer Returned Kruphix, God of Horizons

Fun fact about game one, 3 of the 5 decks had Mana Crypt (or as I now call it, the Saw Card) out and one person died from it. We’ll get to that later.

“Wanna play a game?” 

Anyways, 

Sevala had an explosive start, I’m talking board stall (winter orb ((which I had to beast within)), thorn of amethyst) and gas like Quirion Ranger to keep the Parlay engine going. Had the game gone to turn 6 for Juston, I think we all would have lost to the ‘Giver’ elf. Actually, the only REASON the game even made it to turn 6 was because Dustin counterspelled Stoneforge Mystic early and bought everyone time.

Patrick was lucky enough to mostly watch the event due to drawing almost no lands the whole game. It wasn’t until the (3rd?) Parley from Sevala that his deck was thinned out a bit and that he managed to draw into some land and begin to play with everyone again.

Kevin ramped pretty fast. The Mana Crypt helping quite a bit as well as a bounce land to double him up. Even though he had to pay 7 to Sorin Juston (Thanks, Thorn of Amethyst), it was a turn 5 seven mana and that knocked Juston from 45 health to 10. Brutal.

Arcanis was also SORT of mana screwed this whole game. Although Dustin had an explosive start with Chrome Mox, Mana Crypt, he only had 2 islands for most of the game. Not to mention no real card draw due to not enough mana for casting Arcanis until it was too late in the game. 

Hazezon ramped hard and fast. I’m talking Mana Crypt, Mana vault, into ramp land and chromatic lantern. Turn 2 saw an anointed procession, and by turn 3, a Flashed Samut at the end of Dustin’s turn. Can I just say Samut is the best ever? K.  

Turn four was a hardcast Hazezon Tamar, which thanks to Annoited Procession made double tokens (8 Sand Warriors). We lived to turn 5, where Juston was put to 10 and I had been chipping a little bit away at Patrick’s health with Samut double strike. I cast Craterhoof behemoth (thanks Chromatic Lantern) and ramped everything up to 72 points of dmg with HASTE thanks to Mama Samut. 

Now, I couldn’t kill everyone and in my Hubris, I did not kill Planeswalker Papa Sorin Markov because I told Kevin I wouldn’t… I killed off Juston and Patrick together and put both Kevin and Dustin low. When I went to coup de grâce both Kevin and Dustin off on turn 6 (Keep in mind Sorin was +2 on Kevin’s turn) I was met with an Evacuation thanks to Dustin and my casting of ‘kicked’ Hunting Wilds caused me to return 4 of my lands to my hand. Sad days. This inevitably meant that I went from 35 life to 10, thanks to a round 2 Sorin! TWO PEOPLE SORIN’D!!!! HOW?!?

Scratch that, Gunslinger Markov is the name that should be used on that Planeswalker. PEW.PEW.

Although I was able to replay a lot of my stuff, it was at the hands of Kevin and Dustin combined getting me down to 2 life (Mana Vault helped a little too, what can I say, I’m greedy) and my bad luck rolling with Mana Crypt that inevitably killed me. Seriously, SERIOUSLY. NEVER. CHOOSE. ODDS. This led to the heads up match between Kevin and Dustin who had FINALLY got some islands but frankly, was just too far behind at this point to squeak a win out and eventually fell to the Scarab God deck.

Game 2

Whoa..... okay, this game lasted a LOT longer. I want to say about an hour, maybe a little more. It was a little tougher, but fun! Commanders for Game 2 were: 

The Scarab God Arcanis, the Omnipotent Hazezon Tamar Baral, Chief of Compliance Kruphix, God of Horizons 

Quick summary and notes, A lot of counterspells. A lot of stall. I’m adding in Red Elemental Blast. 

Lemme do a breakdown of game 2 now:

Kevin got to go first, I think. But for most of the game he struggled with mana up until the really interesting parts I’ll get to later! Arcanis was a okay start. Again with Chrome Mox and a little mana rock ramp, some counters and some draw, but no major threats thanks to Juston’s Baral, Chief of Compliance deck. Hazezon ramped a little bit slower this game. He was mostly kept in check by counterspells and bounce spells. Kevin Forbid Mirari’s Wake from coming into play, which makes no sense to me! It’s just a little mana ramp, GAWL! Juston countered Annointed Procession, and for the most part Hazezon was only allowed to Sand Warrior out with some small guys for most of the game. 

Funny thing! This was Juston’s board state for the entire game for over an hour. 

And when I think about it now, we could have probably killed him numerous times over, but often used him as a buffer to help our own games. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing, but it does pay off for him in the points system at the end a little! Now here’s where it get interesting. Kruphix had MANA this game! Woo! And he was doing things, drawing 13 cards, stocking up on mana, discarding 13 cards thanks to Juston getting Kruphix out of the way and Dustin’s Windfall effect later which allowed us all to draw back up to 7 cards, (which was amazing btw, it got me 5 more lands ((zzzzz))). YOU SHOULD HAVE COUNTERED IT KEVIN! GAWD! So the game goes in a big circle for a while, and no one is really taking damage except for Dustin from his Mana Crypt occasionally (bringing him down to 27 I think at one point) and Patrick from his Mana Crypt

EVERY SINGLE TURN!

Eventually bringing him down to 10. YES. 10. I mean, I may have slipped in some Samut damage once but still, sounds better to die from Crypt. 

Now, this did not deter Patrick in the slightest. Thanks to Juston when everything was bounced back, the Mana Crypt did not come out again and saved his life. Hazezon had done a good bit of damage to several people at this point with a Decimator of Provinces that Patrick now had the mana to RITE of REPLICATION with KICKER. 

One of these creatures attacked Hazezon which I took glady (not really gladly) getting my life lower and then the other 4 went to Kevin who had a pretty substantial board state finally.  Sheoldred, Whispering One, Sidisi, Wrexial, the Risen Deep, Triskelion, and lol, a Snapcaster Mage with nothing to snap :( 

Several of these traded to kill off a couple of the Decimator of the Provinces and keep himself alive. The turns circled around BACK to the biggest threat (Patrick), Also, during this time I think Dustin and Kevin had kept fighting over a Consecrated Sphinx and who would own it and who would resurrect it for different reasons. It ended up not really doing much due to the dire board state put up by Patrick the coming turn. So Patrick still has several Decimators left, sacrificing one to Sheoldred (yay) and only having two left to hit anyone with, which he does, to kill off Dustin. Patrick follows up his board state with Avenger of Zendikar dropping 11 Plant Tokens on the field, but no land to buff them yet, having played a land earlier in the turn. Patrick DID have Burgeoning out to play additional lands, but Kevin was too smart and didn’t play a land for him to capitalize off that. Instead, on his turn, Kevin brought back his Sidisi from the graveyard thanks to Sheoldred (again!?) and searched for Massacre Wurm, WRECKING Patrick’s board state and his life and killing him. So brutal, so unexpected. Super great. 

This left Baral, Hazezon, and the Scarab God. 

Hazezon was low thanks to Patrick and getting smashed by Kevin one turn, having 11 tokens to work with that came into play that turn, I tried looking high and low for answers and to be able to cast Craterhoof and win. Baiting Juston into countering my Crop Rotation (which I have no Cavern of Souls) *MUAHAHAHAHAHAH* I reached far and wide and never really found an answer to kill both of them. Craterhoof was countered, sadly, I swung to kill Juston and then accepted my fate at the hands of fatties on Kevin’s side and died horribly.

The Card of the night was definitely Mana Crypt. It made a HUGE difference in two games life wise and was probably the most used in both games. 

Also, as a side note, we did play some more games and even had a GIANT pillow fight. At one point I got Ormendahl out, but Marit Lage came out and they basically just slapped hands the whole time. We ignored Omnath that whole game (Well, I didn’t).... I put out lethal vapors for him. But it really didn’t matter and I ended up taking like 21 damage in a turn anyways tanks to Where Ancients Tread.

U.S. Open 2017: Ranking the weekend contenders at Erin Hills

A crowded leaderboard with only two major wins among the Top 23. Let’s sort out the contenders & pretenders ahead of the weekend at Erin Hills

ERIN, Wisconsin — We’ll start the weekend at the U.S. Open with a crowded leaderboard at Erin Hills, but with little in the way of major championship pedigrees at the top. Eight of the world’s top 12 players missed the cut in Wisconsin — including Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, and Jason Day.

What’s that leave us with? Still plenty in the way of compelling golf. The leader for the majority of the golf tournament, Rickie Fowler will play headliner for the weekend, starting Saturday just a shot behind a quartet of players at 7-under-par. And, my, how things change. And could it be Sergio Garcia playing the role of proven, confident veteran? (We’re going with SergioSlam, do note it’s stylized without a space or hyphen.)

Our leaders are set to take to the course around 1:30 local time. Let’s sort out the contenders & pretenders at Erin Hills ahead of Saturday’s action.

15. (tie) Xander Schauffle & Cam Champ (a)

Listen, young Americans Champ & Schauffle are fun to watch, big hitters that have the talent to hang around professional golf for a long time — and get back to this stage regularly. But it’s a big ask for two major championship rookies to hang around through the weekend.

There are three major wins total among players in contention at Erin Hills. Martin Kaymer has two of them.

14. Martin Kaymer

Unless you’re a fan of Jordan Spieth’s chances seven shots behind the leaders, Kaymer’s the only multiple-time major winner left in contention this week. He’ll start the weekend four shots behind, but it’s fair to wonder his form will hold out through the weekend. The former top-ranked player hasn’t had a top-three finish anywhere in the world since 2015.

13. Bill Haas

If you did a quick survey of the media center & players’ locker room, no one would complain about Bill Haas picking up the major champion designation. A six-time winner & FedEx Cup champion who probably doesn’t quite get his due, Haas will start the weekend three off the lead. The downside? He’s 35 years old with exactly one major championship top ten finish.

12. Marc Leishman

Always in the shadow of countrymen Adam Scott & Jason Day, he won’t have that problem this weekend at Erin Hills. A forever trendy pick to contend, he had a near miss at the 2015 Open Championship & won at Arnie’s event earlier this year. If you’re looking for one of the pack at 4-under-par to emerge, Leish may be the best bet.

11. Brian Harman

I’ll admit: Ranking Brian Harman this low is straight-up disrespectful. He’ll share the lead, play in the final grouping on Saturday, and has been in good form of late. But! There are players perhaps better suited to Erin Hills than Harman, and his major championship contention experience is basically zero. That’s a lot to ask of a dude walking in the final grouping today.

10. Jamie Lovemark

It feels like a long time coming for the former USC star in Lovemark at a major championship. His big-hitting style suits well to Erin Hills — if he can drive it accurately, and he’ll enjoy a comfortable Saturday pairing with fellow SoCal native & Walker Cup teammate Rickie Fowler. If he can survive treacherous traps like the 9th, Don’t be shocked if he pops into the lead at some point early on Saturday.

Thomas’ advantage off the tee could help us add another star on the leaderboard ahead of Sunday.

9. Justin Thomas

Sure, he’s five behind and out of the spotlight a bit. But there’s 36 holes of golf left, and that’s plenty of time. In a leaderboard that lacks some punch outside of Rickie Fowler up top, Erin Hills could use another punch of star power. JT’s exactly that and this course suits him well. He’s your best bet to make a move up from the group at 2-under-par.

8. JB Holmes

No one at 4-under-par or better on this leaderboard has won a major championship, so JB Holmes’ veteran experience & strength off the tee could propel him to a win here. He turned in finished in the top 5 in half of last year’s majors

7. Tommy Fleetwood

Sure, sure -- call it a double-standard. I knocked fellow leader Brian Harman for his lack of major experience, yet this is only Tommy Fleetwood’s second major championship weekend ever. But he’s had high finishes in quality events in 2017 (a win in Abu Dhabi, 2nd at the WGC-Mexico) and there’s perhaps no better iron player in the world right now than Fleetwood. He’s greens at around an 85% clip on the European Tour. At a ballstriker’s paradise like Erin Hills, that’s a good predictor of success.

Si Woo Kim just won golf’s biggest non-major title last month. At 21, could he upgrade to major champion just one month later?

6. Si Woo Kim

Does Si Woo Kim have a pulse? Coming off a Players Championship win at 21-years-old, the South Korean phenom’s just two behind the lead at Erin Hills entering the weekend. He didn’t blink at Sawgrass on Sunday a month ago. Is he perhaps the safest bet to stay up near the top of the leaderboard of this relatively unproven bunch?

5. Sergio Garcia

We could go higher here, but since he’s four behind, let’s start out conservative. But if you’d told me Sergio would win a major in 2017, Erin Hills might have been the first venue to which I would’ve pointed of Augusta. He says he’s confident at the moment, and admits to believing he’ll have an advantage if the golf course toughens this weekend.

We’re through the looking glass. Sergio’s the proven, confident shark now, coming for the rest of the field. Sergio. Sergio Garcia. God, this is so weird but I love it.

4. Brooks Koepka

It’s really hard not to like Brooks Koepka at Erin Hills.

He’ll be the best professional driver (Hi, Cam Champ!) of the golf ball remaining in the field this weekend, and his strengths line up well with Erin Hills — especially if overnight rains make the course play a hair longer. And at just 27-years-old, he’s been a solid pick in majors since he first broke onto the PGA Tour back in 2014. In fact, since the 2014 U.S. Open, Koepka’s only finished outside the Top-21 of a major twice.

Nice, solid finishes are worlds different from wins, but the ingredients seem ripe for a Koepka breakthrough this weekend.

3. Paul Casey

Consider: Take an appearance of a triple-bogey off Paul Casey’s second round card -- and the Englishman’s your three-shot leader heading into the weekend. He’ll still own a share of the lead and tee off last on Saturday, but the question for Casey is simple: Will this time be any different?

Casey’s weekend major championship struggles are well-documented. For a player that’s reached the 3rd in the OWGR & owns 17 worldwide wins, he’s never had much in the way of success on the weekends at majors — a 3rd place finish at the 2015 Open Championship his lone top-three finish.

Sergio got the burden off his back at The Masters in April. It’d be apropos for another cursed European star to get it done at Erin Hills.

Rickie was better than everyone though most of Thursday and Friday. It’s his or Hideki’s to lose.

2. Rickie Fowler

For much of Thursday and Friday, all seemed to be aligning for Rickie. He played three full nines at the U.S. Open without a bogey, a task that’s difficult to fully appreciate. But through the early rounds, he’s looked the part of a major champion.

Yet, perhaps Rickie’s never had an issue with the early rounds, nor has he with the physical aspects of the game. In 2016 especially, Fowler struggled to finish golf tournaments. Sunday collapses at the Wells Fargo & the Barclays stick out in my mind, particularly.

Golf needs major champion Rickie Fowler. Rickie Fowler deserves major champion Rickie Fowler. In a post-Tiger world, there’s no one in golf with more potential star power. He’s got the ability to captivate more casual fans that Jason Days & Dustin Johnsons perhaps are unable to draw. He’s marketable, personable, friendly — and has broad interests outside the sport. If some agency sketched up the ideal player to carry the sport into the future, Rickie would be close to the final draft.

The question: Is he ready for all that? Is he ready for the mental crucible of a six-hour Sunday walk at a major championship? I think so. We’ll find out this weekend.

1. Hideki Matsuyama

I watched golf in concert yesterday, perhaps the closest thing to perfection I’ve seen in a round in person. You can read me wax poetic about it here. When he’s on, I’m still not completely sure there’s anyone more fun to watch — or anyone better in the world than Hideki Matsuyama. But we won’t need to litigate that argument this weekend! The three players above the Japanese star in the world rankings are long gone.

Majors are most fun when we get one of two types of winners: either (1) current major champions or (2) first major wins for guys that are going to win more. Hideki’s capable of winning many, many more. From what I saw on Friday, I think he’s your favorite this weekend.
