still remember that one scene in septimus heap where one character is trapped by an evil guy and has none of their tools, except for a single-use spell that was a birthday gift to them- and so they escaped by turning their entrapment into chocolate.

#it was such a cool moment i think it was the first time i saw that a story did something like that #showing you something seemingly mundane and forgettable and then it's a major plot point later #i think that's what made me so insane about interconnected storytelling and foreshadowing #oh wow reading some wikipedia stuff abt the books and i forgot that septimus started out as a child soldier #that lasted for such a short time #that's probably also why the number 412 has significance to me i completely forgot about that plot point #this series (AND BBC MERLIN) is also 1000% why i have characters eyes change colour when they use magic
