I don't know if this has been asked yet but what is in that weird room in his house cause if I remember correctly that was on day 3 where he had no motive to kill anyone so i don't think there's a body there but he did say that marble was hard to clean which I guess he's talking about cleaning blood off of it? and he also said being the only one on the floor is a perk so I'm confused does the room have bodies or nah and did ren kill someone? even tho it's not anyone close to angel

Can I make something about a character being demisexual or demiromantic or (insert other label)? Can I make something about a character who's straight?

Absolutely - please do! Aspec is a very broad umbrella term, and this event is all about celebrating a variety of experiences that aren't well-represented in media. If it feels right to you, go for it. I'm not going to exclude any works from the fest just because they aren't relatable to me.

What types of fanworks can I make for the fest?

Anything! Be that fanfiction, fanart, meta, gifsets, edits etc. - everything is welcome! If you're writing fanfiction, you're encouraged to post to the AO3 collection here.

Which Critical Role characters can I make fanworks about?

Do I have to make a fanwork for every week to take part?

Nope! The more the merrier, but we're doing this for fun, not to stress!

Anyone in anything they've streamed - so the main campaigns, EXUs, Candela Obscura, Daggerheart or other oneshots!

Do I need to be aspec to join?

Definitely not, as long as you're coming in with the mindset of being respectful of our experiences. For one, I'm aromantic but not ace-spec - so making works about ace-spec experiences is naturally going to be more difficult for me, but entirely doable with a little bit of research! I think it's a great way to learn about others.

Why February? Why a whole month?

Yes, there are plenty of aspec weeks hosted in other fandoms, which are great and the inspiration for this event! But personally, I am both slow and busy, so making just one thing per week is much more achievable for me. I chose February because Aromantic Awareness Week is the week after Valentine's day, and this fest was originally going to take place during that time. I'm also unaware of any other fandom events happening in February (although please let me know otherwise, just for my own interest!). The fact that February splits so nicely into 4 whole weeks is an added bonus!

Would you like people to share around the existence of this fest?

(Okay, maybe this one's a bit of a cheat.) Yes please! Even if you don't plan on taking part, getting eyes on the existence of this event would be wonderful. This is the first fandom event I've ever hosted, and I don't have a huge platform among fic writers, who are likely the largest contingent of nerds (lovingly) who'd be interested in taking part in an event like this.

Other Rules

Please don't bash any ships or headcanons you don't like! Part of the fun of fandom is seeing the broad range of possible interpretations, and I'd always rather foster a sense of community rather than opposition.

Suggestive, NSFW and whump content is fully allowed, but must be tagged correctly for whatever platform you're posting on. When reblogging suggestive or NSFW content, I'll use the tag #CRAspecFestNSFW, so filter that if you'd like.

Fanworks should be focused on aspec experiences or characters, but other topics or characters can totally be included, and these experiences don't have to be super clear or well-labelled in-text (gods know that real-life experiences are often opaque and confusing) - it's your intention that matters. This is up to your discretion, really. As with the rule of thumb for AO3 tagging - if someone was viewing this for aspec content, would they be disappointed? If so, you can always rework it, or post it outside of this fest.

I've only seen vague posts but I know all social media is gone (because by god fucking twitter apparently) I've seen from the fake gatobob account post about recent events and I'm soo confused. I'll try to be brief? please don't take me as the authority on this, I just happened to get into the tags while it was unfolding earlier today. still going under a read more though. i suppose a tw for mentions of racism and xenophobia are warranted. Gato deleted her social media accounts this morning (tumblr, twitter, pillowfort) and explained on patreon it was for her mental health and safety (which... safety? hm) and someone here immediately claimed the gatobob url. which happens, it's tumblr. but this person is using it basically as a callout center.

the callout seems to be about an incident that happened in the patreon exclusive discord server before it got shut down a couple months ago. tldr according to this person, someone (a mod?) made a racist comment towards someone, and gato apparently handled the situation poorly and neither her or the mods apology were really that great. I was in the server as a lurker more than anything, but I don't remember being there when this happened.

other people sending in asks to this new gatobob account have also been calling her out for xenophobia, but I have a feeling that's looking a little bit too much into statements she's made about her games being redistributed in Russia and Spain specifically if i recall correctly.

this new blog is demanding gato and the aforementioned mod properly apologize for their behaviour, but in my opinion, this is a really weird and bad way to go about it. Smart to use her url as a way to boost the problem, but... I haven't seen any solid evidence besides some very vague screenshots, none of them including the racist remarks (the screenshots they've posted so far definitely aren't good responses or apologies if they ARE linked to this incident, and it should have been taken seriously) And the victim from the racism incident is NOT the person running the new gatobob account, so it feels very weird to me that this person is taking it upon themselves to stir everyone up and demand things from gato and the mod.

as far as I can tell, gato hasn't said anything about this on patreon, although she's likely taking her separation from social media very seriously. If she is aware (and I'm sure she's getting plenty of DMs about this on patreon), she'll likely make a post there addressing it in the next couple days, but that's just speculation.

I'm keeping a mostly neutral stance in this whole thing, but I'm encouraging people to not interact with this new gatobob account. There's nothing we can really do; they aren't impersonating her, posting anything against ToS as far as Im aware, and people have been hoarding urls for years. Just... listen and learn, I think is all I can suggest. Form your own opinions, but don't go on a witch hunt about it, if that makes any sense.

I'll try to answer other questions, but I'm just one guy on the internet who doesn't usually get tangled with things like this. Please be patient.

Hello anon. As for my opinion on the romantic pairing of Idia Shroud/Leona Kingscholar from the hit game Twisted Wonderland by Yana Toboso I gotta say. Peak. Peak. So peak. They're so peak. I haven't seen a more peak fandom ship than them. Amen.

LIKE I DON'T KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN IT like leoide doesn't have a lot of canon interactions tbh. There's notable ones, like the nickname Leona specifically gave Idia (so silly), Idia's birthday jacket groovy, and Idia's Halloween pumpkin knight groovy, but not really much beyond those big things. But still, I ship it! They have silly moments in some of the comics, and their interactions in canon r so silly to me!! When thinking about the specifics of leoide, there's a very particular post I like, and it's real good!! I definitely recommend a read!!

But beyond canon interactions, I honestly never expected to like them at first. I joined Twisted Wonderland for Ruggie after all, and didn't like Idia until later. But do you know what else I enjoy doing in a fandom space? Shipping!! I didn't really ship anyone with Ruggie (waow Ruggie x money), so I thought I might as well have fun with Idia. Went on ao3 and scrolled through his tag to try and see if there was a ship out there that tickled my fancy. A lot of the fics I saw didn't tickle my fancy or suit my tastes, and I was about to give up... Until I saw bleeding blue!! Despite being a big Leona hater at the time (because Leona in book 2 sanded my poor boy Ruggie), I was interested in the summary. Gave it a read. Found myself really liking the idea of the ship. Found that they only had 30 fics at the time of my discovery. I never really wrote fanfiction before them, only ever original works. So, seeing that small fic number and this new ship that intrigued me, well... They inspired me to write. At that point of time, I was going through a huge writer's block. It's quite dramatic, but leoide literally saved me. Leoide inspired me to write again, and again, and again. There's something about them and their dynamic with one another, being opposites that attract yet so similar in different ways, that really made me go "WOAH!! I just have to write this new thing I thought of!!".

I'm so very thankful for that fic, and the fact that I found them, and got to learn about them, and got inspired to write their wonderful stories. There's so much I can do with leoide, but also the groups they're connected to (savanaclaw and ignihyde). I love them to bits!! Igniclaw forever!!

I love seeing them together! Gold and blue! Black clothes! Silly vibes! Nerds! Chess! They share so much and I want to see them share even more (like wedding rings! And a home!). It's a shame they're sort of a rare pair in the twst fandom, but I love them, and I'll keep writing for them. My fics are like my little love letters to this romantic pairing! They're peak! I hope they keep kissing forever! And live happily! Free of the heavy burdens for a moment in each other's arms!!

Thoughts on dialogue in another language? I personally like it!!! But only if it's used correctly...I've seen Spanish in fics before where the person CLEARLY doesn't speak it and it drives me crazy, esp if the character is supposed to be Spanish-speaking. Or...when people add random phrases in with the rest English, bc as a bilingual person I feel like it doesn't really work like that lol. I added some Spanish to the Imelda oneshot I wrote and I like to read it when it's done naturally, and if anyone asks me for translation in the comments I’m happy to oblige🥰

166,452 apparently? That's pretty good. Go me, I guess. Maybe I'll hit 200k in 2025!

5, which is way too many.... I really need to finish some of these. Especially Barbarian Bat. I keep forgetting I need to finish that and there's literally just one chapter to go, so what's my excuse?

4. What was your favorite thing you wrote?

I'm not going to lie, writing omegaverse Nessian was a lot of fun this year! It's just 13k words of straight smut, but I had a blast doing it. I also wrote it all in the span of like a week. I was knocking out 2k words a day. It was crazy! I need that version of me to return.

5. What piece was your most experimental or different from your usual style?

Finally giving in to my desires and branching into the world of Rhysta this year was probably my most experimental. It was also super fun to write! And I'm super excited for @rhystaappreciationweekend in 2025 to continue with the Rhysta hate-fucking agenda 🫡

6. Did any fics surprise you - either while writing or their reception?

Probably the most surprising in terms of reception was how much Gargoyle Rhys flopped.... It's one of my worst performing fics of 2024. Which is funny if you think about it, since Feysand is the biggest ship in this fandom 😂 Clearly, there should be no more Feysand from me in 2025. Regency Feysand can just only live in my mind

7. Do you have a fic you wrote and loved that went under the radar? (This is your sign to reblog/repost it!)

I'd say my Nesta and Feyre one-shot inspired by Noah Kahan's Orange Juice. I'm not surprised by its numbers. People prefer romantic fics, not sisterly fics, but I really love that one, so wish it got more love...

The Nesta Besties, of course! Forever enabling every unhinged thought and new idea inspired by a TikTok that I bring into the GC 😂 but I also have to give a special shout-out to @witch-and-her-witcher who is not only an amazing human being, but also a super talented writer, and who inspired me this year with the way she steps out of fandom "comfort zones" and into rare-pairs and by encouraging (and beta-ing) Rhysta for me 🩵

We've been blessed in the Nessian fandom in 2024 with @xxvalkyriesxx @wishcamper and @jsmelodies joining our unhingery 😇 But I also just bookmarked @littedidyouknow's I Will Be With You 'til the World Blows Up to read so imma just preemptively call that out because I know it's already going to be good. Also, JellyBeanJellyFish on AO3's Etched Into Skin is delicious

Uhhhh.... I'd say the successful Appreciation Weeks? @moodymelanist is the true queen, and I but a mere Nessian Court member, but I feel like it was a good year for Nessians this year! Nesta, Cassian, and Nessian Week were all so fun to brainstorm and all were pretty successful if I do say so myself.

13. What did you learn about writing or creating this year?

One thing I learned is that not everyone is going to like what you like, and most definitely not like what you write, and that's okay! I've gotten the most hate anons this past year since I joined the fandom, but I've decided who cares? Having Fun Only is the vibe I'm carrying into 2025. That and more unhinged in 2025!

14. Any advice you'd like to share with new or aspiring writers?

Find your people. Especially in this fandom where there's so much toxicity and mess sometimes, finding your people is clutch. Writing is more fun in a group, I'm so serious. People you can brainstorm with. People who will sprint with you. People who will scream (and cry) and hype you up. People who will make writing memes. Find those people, and even though it's scary, reach out to them. Make friends, block the haters

15. What are your creative goals for 2025?

I really want to write a canon Nessian long-fic in 2025. I'd say that's my biggest creative goal. All of my chaptered fics have been AUs and that's sort of been a comfort zone for me, so I really want to step outside it and into the canonverse. Also, I really want to write an Elucien chaptered fic. Branch out into other ships more seriously, ya know?

Ranma 1/2 Thoughts, Meta Edition

I have consumed...a lot of Ranma 1/2 content.

I mean, this is kinda what happens when you're a repressed transgirl who discovers the manga a year into a marriage that you got into to "fix" being trans and be "a real boy" in a desperate bid to fill the hole that you wouldn't learn for two decades could only be filled by living as your true self.

I've encountered precisely four (4) types of Ranma 1/2 fans in that time:

Transwomen who see Ranma as their idealized expression of the gender experience ("I'm not like this because I want to be, it's a curse. A curse that gives me a smokin' hot body and HUGE tits! But it's tooootally a curse, for realsies! I'll find a cure any day now, see how hard I'm looking? I'm trying sooooo hard to find a cure...")

Transmen who see Ranma as their perfect representation of their gender experience ("I'm a guy, damnit! This body...it's a curse! I hate it and I want nothing better than to be cured, but all sorts of Life Bullshit keeps getting in the way!")

Lesbians who kin either Ranma (butch NB lesbian) or one of their love interests (Akane - comphet closetted butch lesbian, Shampoo - Strong, smokin' hot bad bitch who goes after what she wants, Ukyo - transmasc coded genderfluid NB)

Completely clueless nimrods who miss the FUCKING POINT and are only into the show for the martial arts and think it would be better if Ranma got cured and they stopped having funny stuff happen.

(In case it's not obvious, IMHO the last group are the worst parts of the fandom and need to Go Away. Most of the toxic stuff that exists in R.5 fanspaces is because of this group of assholes which includes the incels that think everything would be better if Ranma just did stuff that's questionable from an ethics and morality perspective and chased after Shampoo because she's the closest thing to a Barbie-doll these closet fascists can allow themselves to fantasize about playing with, completely ignoring that she's a complex character that's a subversive pastiche to the Japanese racist stereotypes of the 1980s.)

I'm not kidding when I say that in the early days of the public Internet (before Facebook and Twitter ruined it for everyone), Ranma 1/2 was the SINGLE largest fandom by a MASSIVE stretch. I once checked my math on this by going to Fanfiction.net (before the massive purges) and brought up the Big List of All Fandoms and right there at the top with a MASSIVE number of fics was Ranma 1/2 by a HUGE margin. It took three fandoms (Star Trek, Doctor Who, and I believe Naruto if I'm recalling correctly) to have their combined total number of fics exceed the number of R.5 fics on FF.net...and that was JUST FF.net. There was an entire separate index (The Penultimate Ranma 1/2 Fanfic Index) that had the single task of listing, not even curating or reading or reviewing, ONLY Ranma 1/2 fanfics. Not fanart, not commentary, no RP blogs or chat transcripts or whatever, JUST fanfics. And only about half of those linked to FF.net, meaning that if you dig up the archives you'll find at least 60% of all fanfics that people had managed to index in the Ranma 1/2 fandom are missing because they were never properly archived and just...faded from the Internet as the public servers and places like Geocities started disappearing. You can find teasing, tantalizing hints of larger works that all we have left, like scraps of ancient papyri revealing a quote from a missing book of the Bible, are single chapters backed up on niche sites that managed to get spider-crawled by Archive.org, but many great works are just...lost. (There's an ero fic called "Playing with Water" that was SUPER hot and featured elements that we have tags for on porn sites but didn't really have proper words for back in the day...but even back when it was first being written finding the thing was hard...and today? Nearly impossible.)

(If you wonder why I'm such an absolute RABID advocate of AO3, this is why)

For me, Ranma will always be the transfemme coded genderfluid hero that we needed in the late 80s and early 90s. We were on the tail end of the AIDS pandemic, and just like COVID-19 there were a bunch of assholes who used it to ride to power and marginalize queer folk. It was easier to do with AIDS, of course, given the absolutely massive numbers of queer cis men and transwomen who contracted it and died. (Sidebar: the reason "L" comes first in "LGBTQIA+" is because it was the Lesbian nurses who were the caretakers of the Gay men who were dying in numbers large enough to be counted as a tragic statistic instead of a mere tragedy) and while the world was starting to acknowledge (again) that gay men was a thing that existed and they weren't actually trying to corrupt the youth, what we now call "transgender" was still listed in the DSM as a mental disorder that required treatment to "cure." According to the cultural majority in damn near every field you can imagine, the Gender Binary was the only way to exist and if you didn't fit neatly into one or the other then you were Damaged™ and had to be Fixed™ for The Good of All People™ (but specifically so cis-het-white folks, usually men, could feel comfy and not be confronted by things that made them feel icky and might have cooties). It's a truism that's treated as a joke that transwomen get into coding and wind up doing IT work in such massive numbers that between us and the furries we ARE the foundation of the modern Internet. And into the fanspaces packed to the brim with closetted AMAB transwomen who hadn't yet had their egg cracked came this plucky martial artist that gets to swap their gender with a splash of water but somehow still winds up the best of the best, the finest martial artist of their generation. (Goku can suck it, Ranma would turn the Kamea-meha right back on the over-muscled, braindead loser with a food fetish and still make it home in time for Kasumi's dinner)

I'm no sociologist, anthropologist, behaviorist, whatever, but I suspect that the reason Ranma Saotome spawned such a large fanbase so early in the modern Internet's history was specifically because the series created a safe space where people could talk about gender issues with a degree of separation that helped strip away the stigma surrounding feeling like you were in the wrong body.

I get why people like the martial arts aspect. I mean, Ranma kills a demigod. This is NOT something to sneeze at. I also understand the transmen who latch onto Ranma as a kin because I get the feeling like you have no control over what your body's doing and you're going through your days in existential dread of what might be dragging you further and further away from what you always knew was right and correct about yourself. It's a terrifying thing and here's someone who (esp. the anime version) IS a guy trapped in a girl's body.

For me, though, and for a LOT of transwomen out there, Ranma is transfemme. And, yes, canonically Ranma states right near the end of the manga that they're both and they kinda forgot about the 'cure' when they had to pick between that and the really important stuff and that they're okay with being fluid ('cause water, gettit?!) about their gender and it's a damn shame this was the 80s 'cause a continuation might wind up showing Ranma embracing being both...

BUT, and this is a transfemme thing, I know, if you continue the parabolic arc of Ranma's character development, the logical conclusion (for us) is that she eventually decides that she's a woman and just lives in her "cursed" form the majority (or all) of the time.

And yes, this is because that's the transfemme story arc. In the manga in some distant part of the multiverse that peers into our universe and for some reason decides to make me the MC (god, that must be a FUCKING BORING manga by our standards, I weep for those fans), my story arc is the gradual progression of uncracked, closetted transgirl to transitioned out and proud transbien mom. At one point I swapped back and forth between gender presentations because it was safer for me to appear in some spaces as the male that they thought I was. Now I would prefer to die before being forced to go back to pretending to be a man again.

Ranma has the choice, and good for them. Until the Kaisufuu is permanently destroyed, even if the "curse" is locked, they have the option of going one way or the other based solely on their own, personal desire. I can't say I'd be comfortable with that option being available. In that theoretical manga where there's a reboot that gives me a condition like Ranma's, I'd probably wind up destroying the equivalent to the Kaisufuu just because of the threat to my mental wellbeing it presents.

So it's not a stretch to imagine Ranma making the same choice. She's a woman now, she has the life she never realized she wanted because she never had the choice so didn't know she was allowed to imagine it, but now she's happier than ever and why would she ever go back to that struggle of being a guy that only ever brought her pain and challenges and heartache?

what are your favourite hades characters!!!

I think I have to go with Dusa and Artemis. I just love everything about Artemis! I love the critical damage effects of the game. I recently made a build using her True Shot boon on the Aspect of Hera, and while I cannot logically explain why that build manages to work so completely well, I do know that it works with an efficiency that is honestly terrifying to me. I love her Exit Wounds boon. I love Pressure Points. I love Support Fire. I love her Legendary boon, though I'm disappointed that she doesn't have one based around critical effects. I also love every single one of her Duo Boons, for the most part! I love love love Heart Rend. I love love love Hunting Blades. I love love love Mirage Shot. All of those are great! Beyond her mechanics, though, I just like her as a character. I find the way she talks to Zagreus and talks to and about the other Olympians to be really fun! I also love her voice. It's gotten to a point where I literally cannot imagine the way Artemis speaks in any sort of media without imagining her voice! The voice actor did an amazing job! I love how she talks about Achilles and about Coronacht. Finally, I just love Artemis in Greek Myth in general. Sure, she's done some messed-up things like the other Olympians, but compared to what Zeus has done, well... I think her actions are pretty tame by comparison. And the way Artemis is depicted in Hades may just be the most mythically accurate out of all the Olympians! If I recall correctly, there's even an exchange of dialogue between her and Aphrodite that sort of references the fact that while Artemis is asexual, she's demisexual, or something, I don't know, it's been months since I've heard that dialogue and I don't currently feel like scrolling through her wiki page to find it. But if I am remembering correctly, this also aligns with one myth of Artemis experiencing romantic attraction to the giant Orion (though there are also several myths showing Artemis as very much not being attracted to Orion, so there's evidence to support both DemiAce and AroAce interpretations of Artemis. I just have a slight preference for DemiAce interpretations of Artemis). I don't have nearly as much to say about Dusa, but I've liked her a lot and found her to be really cute since the first few times I talked to her in-game. I'm almost certain she was the first character whose relationship I ever maxed out, and if not, then I am certain she was the first non-Olympian whose relationship I maxed out. I love her whole arc. And while I think she and Zagreus would've made a very cute couple, I do still find it nice and wholesome that they chose to stay friends. I also love the fanart and whatnot I can find of her. I have much more trouble finding art and whatnot of Artemis, haha. So yeah, Artemis and Dusa are easily my favorites, though maybe I'll learn to like other characters as much as I like them as I play more of the game (Asterius is already growing on me). And feel free to reply in the comments (or in another ask, if you wish to stay anonymous) about your thoughts on what I've said so far and about your own favorite characters in Hades!! the pelicansexual "joke" was told at the expense of Ethan and Tobias during the "Ethan Bisexuality Canonity" argument she & i got into in June (which btw i would like to apologize for starting that up, i was frustrated w pb's coddling of the cishet part of the fandom & i was having difficulty phrasing it bc of how upset i was w it. i did not mean to attack the fandom specifically but intent doesn't cover for outcome)

the pelicansexual joke was a since-deleted tag on one of her posts which went something along the lines of "my Ethan and Tobias are now pelicansexuals, which means they have to break up with [her characters] as they are not pelicans". i dont have a screenshot of this unfortunately, but i do have a screenshot of her response to an anon calling her out on it.

in case you don't understand why her "joke" was homophobic, before gay marriage was legalized in the US in 2015, a common anti-homosexuality talking point was "homosexuality being legalized is a slippery slope to bestiality being legalized". while it is good she deleted her "joke", its frankly worrying to me that when called out on it she doubled down on how she was joking when she said it, instead of listening and learning. her bisexuality and queer activism do not mean that she is incapable of saying and doing homophobic things.

the panphobic rhetoric & her talking for transgender people are, if i remember correctly, both part of the same incident wherein she reblogged something panphobic and then, when called out for it, said something that something that most trans people consider transphobic isn't actually transphobic at all

screenshot 1: bisexuality and pansexuality are two very similar sexualities, with the main difference between the two coming down to personal preference for what term you feel like best. while bisexuality does mean "sexual attraction to two or more genders", some people prefer a term that focuses on the "or more" part. neither sexuality excludes transgender people. pitting queer people against each other because theyre not the "right" kind of queer does nothing but damage the queer community as a whole

Second point: lack of respect or understanding of boundaries in fandom spaces, including both blocks and simply not wanting to interact with someone

i'll be honest, i'm a bit unsure if the above paragraph is the right way of describing what i mean, but she has a bit of a history of being.... openly weird about people who have blocked her for "no reason", and not only that has stated she thinks that not wanting to take place in an event run by someone you are uncomfortable with is childish

i believe the first one is about my friend Jay, who has her blocked for similar reasons that i do. while it is perfectly fine for her to assume whatever she wants about the reasoning for a block, her phrasing of "all i ever did was be supportive" in a public post about it allows her to victimize herself over a boundary being placed. speaking of Jay, Elsa has, knowing full well that she's been blocked by xim on the "peonyblossom" blog- which, again, is a boundary that has been placed- decided to message xim on the choicespride blog xe runs

the second one is specifically about a tumblr user who i do not know personally and do not wish to drag them into this as they have left the open heart fandom. she was sent an anon about this user blocking her which, yeah, is really weird and suspicious. but this isn't about that, this is about her response to learning she's been blocked. she refers to herself as this users "biggest fan" and says that it "isn't normal" to block your biggest fan. once again she is victimizing herself over a boundary someone else has placed, only this time she has done it in a post talking about a person with their username in it. when you have a blog as big as hers, people are bound to go after someone in the name of defending the person they feel was slighted

& here's her essentially calling people childish bc they might not want to interact with someone who causes them harm. iirc this was either about certain event blogs in the fandom not disclosing who's running them bc they know full well that some people might not be comfortable interacting with them (hiding ur identity will not help with that) or about people choosing not to participate because they know that the person running the event is someone they don't want to interact with. this ones just bizarre to me. no one has to interact with anyone ever, and calling them childish for it is, frankly, childish

Third point: her callout post for Jeremy and her non-apology

to get it out of the way: i'm friends with Jeremy. i'll try to keep this as unbiased as possible, but i am deeply deeply upset and frustrated with everything thats happened to rain. also, just so yall know, Jeremy gave me permission to talk about this. i'm not just dredging up old drama for drama's sake here.

first- the callout post

the thing that started this was a post to the playchoicesconfessions blog where an anonymous user said- and i'm copy/pasting it here- "Ethan said he and Tobias were like brothers. Weird how many people in the fandom want to get with their brothers.’" essentially, this anonymous user accused people who ship Ethias as being into irl incest which..... we will not be getting into all the ways thats problematic here.

(as an aside, Elsa did at some point reblog and then delete this post, but her commentary was focused squarely on "ship and let ship" which is a sentiment i agree with but she completely ignored the blatant homophobia in this post. here's a version someone reblogged from her in case you're curious as to what she said)

Jeremy reblogged this confession post and added "i genuinely hope this person and others who think like this eat a fucking bullet holy shit" specifically in reference to the anon insinuating incest. in turn, anons on rain's blog assumed rai was referring to people who don't ship Ethais and sent rain nasty messages, which rai would respond to and get more anons who saw the latest response and again assume rai was talking about not shipping a ship they ship and not the actual genuine fucking homophobia from the original confession post.

one of these anons sent screenshots of rain's posts to Elsa, without the context, and told her rai was talking about her. rai was not. not until the post where rai (rightfully, ihmo) called both Elsa and another blogger (this one who also got a similar ask about being blocked by the user i mentioned earlier but who decided to put it in the open heart tags instead of keep it on their blog the way Elsa did. that's the only props i'll give to her in regards of that- yes it was shitty she posted it in the first place but at least she didn't tag it) for complaining about and villainizing someone who blocked them.

tldr version is- Jeremy was venting about anons that were being homophobic to rain, another anon sent screenshots of those posts to Elsa without the context who who rai was talking about and said they were about her, and Elsa, without bothering to verify in any way, decided the best course of action would be to publicly call rai out, painting rain as a bully who has been targeting her specifically and once again victimizing herself. on her blog with a bunch of followers. many of whom also chose not to verify, and instead just heaped more hatred onto Jeremy's blog.

this went on until September, when they talked to each other at first with a third party go-between, and eventually person-to-person. Jeremy explained the context of the vent posts, Elsa explained that she was getting the screenshots with no context from an anon and admitted she should have verified them herself instead of going full nuclear, and they both agreed to apologize publicly

all good, end of story, right?

no.

while in Jeremy's post, rai took accountability for their side of what happened in this awful game of telephone and apologized for rains part in the whole thing. if you want to read it, here is a version of it.

Elsa, on the other hand.... well she apologized, but to be honest I'm not quite sure what for.

she says there's been misunderstandings on both parts led on by one or more anonymous sources (no arguments here), says she understands that the posts that were sent to her were not actually about her (okay good) and says that its a tough world and that she's deleted her posts.

okay.... but that doesn't specify what she did at all to need the apology. which was publicly call out Jeremy on her blog with.... well, i'm not sure how many followers she has, but i do know that she's got the most well known blog in the choices fandom. by publicly calling out Jeremy in the way that she did, she (whether intentional or not) set her followers out to attack rains blog. she did not apologize for this. asking people to stop sending hate to rains blog is not the same as taking accountability for sending those people to rains blog in the first place

so. yeah.

again, non-extensive list, but i dont wanna mention things she's done without having screenshots or links to show proof that she did it, and i dont feel like finding more of her bullshit bc this just. really fucking stressed me out.

also this isn't me saying "shes a terrible person forever and i hate her and nobody should like her ever" this is me saying "hey, shes done/said some hurtful things in the past and it sure would be cool if she acknowledged any of it" but i think coolsville sucks or whatever.

also also most importantly: its possible for queer people to say and do things that are queerphobic. being queer yourself does not give you a shield from people calling you out for that. neither does real life activism. its great that she's done real life activism! but pointing back to things you've done in the past, or for a different group of people than the one youre in does not exempt you from the harm youre causing today, to the people you're interacting with.

bewilderment by richard powers - go into this knowing nothing apart from it centers around a single dad and his son who is concerned about animals and the climate crisis. do not google more about it, do not look for spoilers, just let powers take you on this slow journey of a father and son and all that comes with that....thrust it into the arms of my flatmate with these same words and he kept on asking me questions because he couldn't work out some things in the book and then one night at about 12:30am i get a knock on my bedroom door cause he finished it and we talked for hourssss about it.....just please....read it

at swim, two boys by jamie o'neill - no one is surprised to see this here, maybe look up some of the trigger warnings if there are things you avoid in books for this one, but yeah, two boys, dublin, in love with each other but not acting on their feelings, learning how to swim and forging a bond so strong :)) still thinking about it still aching

crossroads by jonathan franzen - aight so you take a heavy religious family with a pastor for a father but ooft the father is cheating on his wife and the son is addicted to drugs and the daughters had enough of her family and is in love with someone she shouldn't be and the mothers done some questionable shit in her past......yeah thats MY kinda family saga....each chapter follows a different member of the family and through these lil snippets u really start to see the inevitable breakdown of a family that on the outside looks perfect

babel by r.f. kuang - look, i gotta give it to the tiktok girlies here......they're onto something here......devoured this beast of a book like there was no tomorrow and went through a full array of emotions with all the characters.....superb book, truly deserves all the hype its been given

A Decent Revenge

Summary: Before the Fleur incident, the Ramshackle residents, Yueme and Mizuki, made a plan to reveal everyone Rollo's actions. Rollo was only forgiven which made twst boys confuse as to why would Yume do such a thing. Let's just say this is what Yueme had to deal with the overblots, and a certain bat dad only learning about this later on

I do hate Rollo a bit for what he did, but then again, he's just a teenager who was truamatise at a young age, but still.

In the middle of the night, in the Ramshackle dorm, lounge room, Mizuki and Yueme made a plan. Since they know the information, thanks to Mizuki, who have access on the JP server. The day when the ENG server will get the Masquerade event for this Halloween, Yueme didn't want to participate and was afraid that they'll have to go the upcoming incident and he has no choice because he's the "Yuu" character. Which brings Mizuki, they are in-fact not human but a high rank demon. The plan was simple, Mizuki holding a magical video camera for recordings. If things go wrong, they can expose the recording to Noble Bell College.

"Okay, here's the plan: I'll disguise as you and act like you so no one will be suspicious. Once I'm at Noble Bell College, on that night when he shows his true colors, I should welcome him with a surprise."

"I'll be here with Ortho to help me. Out of all of the classmates, he'll be able to understand our plan, right?"

"Yep. If we tell the teachers, such as Crowley, he would grew suspicious as to how we know this will happen. As for the others, they will focus on the Halloween event here and it'll only bring questions that we can't answer. Which is why we need Ortho's help."

"What about Grim?"

"It's best if he doesn't know about the plan. I mean, he will know once this is over."

"What about Lilia then?"

"Oh he'll definetly will know depending which choice Rollo will pick. Don't worry, I'll also be another guard for your dear friend Malleus."

When the day arrived, it all went according to what is happening. The students who were selected waiting at the Mirror Chamber. Grim made his apperance and Mizuki disguise as Yueme. Acted how Yueme responds and how their voice sounds like Yueme.

No one suspect them, not even Rook couldn't tell it was Mizuki thanks to their demonic powers. Though there were slip calls as Malleus can feel a powerful aura but never question it. He was to focus on this social event as he was finally invited for once. Mizuki felt bad for him as this was just part of Rollo's plan to wipe away the magic.

They were glad they didn't end up with a group, they didn't have problems as they were a master with magic, even made a duplicate self to keep an eye out on Rollo.

All acording to plan. As for Yueme, who was with Ortho, was willingley to help because his older brother safety.

Finally, the first night. The time where Rollo rings the bell, the students who were there were knocked out by the Crimson Flower's hunger. As the flowers were heading to Mizuki, everyone panicking thinking their friend "Yuu" will end up hurt. Until Mizuki snap their fingers, summon a barrier spell that allowed to protect the ones who are still awake. The Crimson Flowers that surrounded them now all died away, reveiling their true form.

Rollo, who was watching up high, shocked as to what happened. He thought the "Yuu" is magicless as the flowers wouldn't do no harm...unless..."Yuu" does have magic(?)

As Rollo got close to the ground, a magic spell was put into him to bow down. That is where Rollo knew he fuck up.

Flashback

"If I remember correctly, when the crimson flowers surrounded the player, everyone thought that the player would get knocked out like the rest."

"They didn't because they didn't have any magic, so they were fine."

"That's where the plot twist happened. As I reveal myself my true identity, that is when we, Ramshackle students, make our entrance. You, as the houswarden, gave him a choice: to face his consequences in front of the whole Fleur City. Or transfer to Night Raven College for the rest of his school life to his graduation."

"Hmm... I like that. I would like to have another student for Ramshackle Dorm as it's just the two of us, plus three ghosts and Grim. The whole point of this is for Rollo to face his wrong doings. Making him realize that what he did could lead to disasters, maybe even ended up like what his school historic figure looks up to. Hehehehe.."

"H-how is this possible?"

"Oh? You thought I was Yuu? You're not the only mastermind here you know?"

"T-then who are you?"

Then a portal open, the real Yuu showed up.

"So... it was you who made the social event for Archane schools. Just to invite someone, right?"

"W-what do you mean? I didn't just invite Malleus-"

"I didn't say Malleus, did I? You know, if something terrible happens to him, it won't turn out well for your schools reputation. Oh wait no, the whole country that is."

"What are you talking about? Just spit it out already!"

"Wow, calm down as if your ego is more important than the people you hurt. You cause this incident; there were plenty of witnesses who saw your doings, this magical flower that's supposedly went extinct 100 years ago to what I was told from my vice-warden. Therefore, you must face your punishment."

"As if! You have no proof it was me!"

"You intentionally wanted one of the most powerful mages in the world to be here. It is somehow suspicious as the others were only selected by random. Someone who is top of their class would know about this Crimson Flower. Even if you won't admited, I can expose you to someone who would've ended you."

"Ooo! Get roasted."

As Yueme and Mizuki look down on Rollo, the others who were in the barrier listen the whole conversation. Even the students who were Rollo's classmates were surprise of what Rollo was doing.

It hit worse for Malleus as this whole thing was a trap for him.

Back to the conversation, the nrc boys keep watching until Yueme reach thier hand to Rollo.

'What are you doing, Yuu?'

"I can give you a choice. One which you can quietly carry this burden throughout your whole life unless you are forgiven. Or transfer to my school in Night Raven College, but I garente you won't feel safe as I don't have magic."

"...I"

*Pulls Rollo to stand up*

"You decide on that yourself. I'm taking my classmates back as they are all exhuasted. Let's see if you can explain this to other archane schools. Remember this Rollo and I shall welcome you with open arms."

So, back to Night Raven College. Everyone thought the social gathering would last till another three days and two nights. Before they could ask but Crowley, for once, did his job told the students and staff's to focus on the Halloween event.

That went well as Yueme and Mizuki were worried about Crowley getting suspicious of them.

More importantly, Lilia Vanrouge, the one who is more worried, especially his boys, who were like his children to him. Malleus, who was like the eldest child to him and the only thing left from his childhood friends. Silver, who was found in a ruin castle and raised alongside Malleus. And Sebek, the youngest grandson of an old friend.

So why is it hard for the trio to not answer the bat dad's questions?

"Well...don't you have anything to say?"

"..."

"..."

"..."

"Please tell me. What happened that made you all return so fast? Were you hurt?"

Before the trio could say anything, there was a knock on the door.

Knock, knock, Knock

"May I come in?"

"Yuu? Yes, you may."

Yueme entered themselves, alongside with Mizuki.

"Um... Lilia, do you really want to know what happened?"

"Why, yes. Did something hapened at the Social?"

Before Yueme could reply back, they looked at the trio first before things get out of hand giving them a facial expression, "Is that alright with you?"

They all nod in agreement.

"Well then, Lilia. We might talk about this in our dorm. It's quite a long explanation."

Once Yueme and Mizuki explain briefly of what happened at Fleur City and what Rollo's plan was all along, Lilia was really mad. Luckily, Mizuki holded him to not let him go. As for Malleus Silver and Sebek, they never saw him angry, always a smile on his face.

"Let me go! I said let me go!"

Yeah, Lilia didn't take the news lightly. It took about two hours to try to get him calm down.

Then tears start to come out. He then gave up as Mizuki let go of him, but he sank to the floor crying.

"Mizuki, tissues."

"On it."

"Lilia, can you please sit on the couch?"

Silver helped Yueme to carry Lilia to sit down on the couch as Mizuki returned with a tissue box and gave Lilia a cup of water.

"I'm sorry, Lilia."

"Sob sob...what are you saying, Yuu?"

"Human, your vice-warden was there in your place. Why is that your apoligize right now?"

"...Because I find it suspicious as to why he wanted to invite Malleus as he would already be selected, and Crowley would annoucement way earlier when everyone was at the lecture hall. -...The smut kind? I'm not sure I understand. Read 'You're a Feisty One, Aren't You? I Like That', if you need specifics, I guess. (Only if you are above age obviously.)

-Oh my god I used to on FFNET. I don't think it's crazy, but even before I discovered FFNET, my friend got me into writing crossovers, and it was a massive Inuyasha, Fruits Basket, Code Geass, and Death Note combination with self inserts. I miss it, it was a good stupid time, haha.

11 – Have you ever had a fic stolen?

-I've had people try to tell me they can't get writing down correctly, and oh, would you mind helping me write this out? What about this? Until slowly I'm literally writing their story and they're POSTING IT ONLINE. ON Ao3/FFNET. LIKE. A PARAGRAPH AT A TIME.

-I'm a self shipper by trade, I'll admit it. But I was a very big Sesshoumaru / Kagome shipper in my baby years. Now I lean more towards Loid / Yor. Love those idiots.

-TOO MAN TO NAME. I REGRET LEAVING ANY FIC UNDONE, BUT I'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO GO BACK. The past is in the past and it's time is over, unfortunately.

16 – What are your writing strengths?

-Focusing on characterizations and researching accuracies for making things logical not only in the fantasy realm but also reality. I love combining the two and giving people a little educational lesson along side their story time. It pleases me to teach others new things and myself. I also think my pacing has gotten a lot better over the years.

17 – What are your writing weaknesses?

-I tend to structure things differently than most people, and genuine writing formats— even using em dashes, I never learned until this year the difference between it and a hyphen— so it comes across as lesser than other people's writing, I think. Less polished. I like bouncing things around textually, having breaks in spots to let the mind "breathe" in between words or phrases to try and give it a bigger impact, but it weakens actual structures sometimes.

That and word choices. I'll be stuck for ages on what word to use. I hate repeating words or phrases, so it'll take me longer than necessary to just choose a damn word.

18 – Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

-I've done it many times and think it's fine! I use translators because I am unfortunately only educated in English (and my brain has difficulties learning other languages), but I try my best and do ask around friends if things are accurate if they speak the language.

If you're not sure what it says, just translate it through a friend or Google. Or, read the bottom AN to see if the author translated it for you. I grew up with American's using broken Japanese in their fanfics, you think I'd see dual languages any different? Lol.

-Inuyasha? Naruto? Crossover? I don't remember!

-Biased. 'The Elder Scrolls Skyrim: DragonBard Edition', otherwise known as TESSDE. It's my bread and butter, my longest length story, and one I would die to complete. We're technically half way there in terms of arcs, but definitely not in chapters, haha. I look forward to the day it's complete, and I hope others enjoy it too.

I stand at the foot of the temple I've dedicated my life to, humming a sweet tune and feeling my soul fill with appreciation and love.

Greetings, traveller! I am the fast-footed (and quick-witted) Agariste, a student that is currently on a journey to learn and collect wisdom, and perhaps to share my own.

I am a student of a gymnasium (yes, in my real life too), and am learning many arts and languages, including ancient Greek and Latin.

I have been a hellenic polytheist for nearly two years now, and though I have learned a lot in that time, I still have much to discover.

I am mostly devoted to the wise Goddess Athena and the swift Lord Hermes, but I worship all Gods.

I am fluid in Dutch, Bulgarian and English. At school I am learning French, German, Latin and Ancient Greek, and at home I am learning Russian.

I like Hades (the game), reading about Greek and Roman mythology, learning Latin and Greek (when I don't have piles and piles of homework and dangerously difficult tests...), theatre, arts, classical culture, philosophy, Kaos (TV-show), Hadestown (musical), Greek Mythologist (artist) and other things that I cannot describe.

I have been to Athens, truly a life-changing experience, and am planning to go to Rome somewhere this year. I have also been to many other places of classical culture, like the Louvre in Paris.

HAVING A PARTNER WITH AGE REGRESSION! (CONTAINS CHUCKY, AND THE GRABBER/ALBERT SHAW)

CHUCKY:

• Now, he hates kids.. but he doesn't mind if his partner acts just a little like one! He thinks it's absolutely adorable.

• He'll snicker almost every time you do something child-like. Clapping, hopping, or kicking your feet when you get excited is one he likes the most. You get so giggly and it warms his heart! He was a man who couldn't process love correctly at one point, so knowing he feels it for you every time you light up over something small? He adores it.

• He doesn't even hesitate when you want to carry him. He won't admit it, but he likes it when you do! He knows that carrying him around gives you a comforting feel, you dont even have to tell him. He can tell by your sudden happy demeanor, even if it looks childish to carry a doll everywhere you go.

• He mainly tolerates your sudden energy boots, especially when they happen with no warning. Especially late at night! He'll sit on the bed, watching you play a game by yourself, occasionally joining. Even though he's tired, and will complain almost every ten minutes, he'll still stay awake to keep you company. Even if you tell him to go to bed. He'll even listen to you ramble about your interests until you get tired.

• You getting excited over other dolls or stuffed animals gets him a little jealous. He won't admit it out loud.. but it's noticeable. He'll glare at the doll, even though it isn't alive. Most of the time he'll try and do something to take your attention away from it and back onto him.

"Hey, uh, doll? Ain't that the one guy from that uh- show you like?" He'd ask, half rushed and not specific.

"Who? Where?" You'd quickly turn, interested but confused.

"Ah, forget it. I was imagining things. Let's just go somewhere else, hm? It's boring in here." He'd quickly change the subject, knowing your attention was no longer on some stupid stuffed animal.

• Hide and seek sessions happen a lot. Tag too. It's tiring for him, but he manages until your energy burst is gone.

• He'll kill absolutely anyone who makes fun of your age regression. And anyone who will try to tell you to "act your age."

ALBERT SHAW/THE GRABBER:

• When he first took you, he didn't even know you had it.. but he learned very fast. He was careful with you. Let you warm up to him.. After all, he didn't take you to bring harm to you. He just ran into you and had to have you, being terrified someone would have you before he could try.

• You warmed up to him eventually, and on days of good behavior he'd let you out of the basement and let you roam the house. Never outside though... Only when someone would forget your disappearance would he let that happen, and even then he'd be with you. You automatically got excited upon seeing his dog, Samson, a happy squeal escaping you. The quick mood change made him pick up on it.. you had been kidnapped less than a month ago, yet the moment you get to leave, a dog made you forget that you were STILL kidnapped?

• Once he had learned about your age regression, and your patterns, he learned to work with it.

• Easily emotional? That's okay! He'll help with that. He'll hold you, play with your hair and whisper words of assurance until you feel better.

• Being picky with your food? He'll make you whatever you'd like. He'll even get you candy here and there. He's picked up on your favorites...

• Your energy boosts excite him. He doesn't take long to join you, giggling with you as you two play in the basement. It's almost as if it wasn't even a kidnapping anymore.

• He'll lay with you, letting you examine and mess with his mask whenever he's noticed your interest in it, sometimes taking it off to let you hold it... though you aren't allowed to look at him unless he says otherwise. But you often allow him to wear it, since he's expressed how he hates having to keep it off.

• He's gotten you plenty of comfort blushes for you to hold or sleep with when he isn't there.

• It isnt very often, but if you are scared down in the basement (Due to rain, or loud noises, or just the feel of it getting to you), He'll let you sleep upstairs with him.

• Nobody really has the chance to talk about your age regression outside of the house, unless it was someone who knew you. He doesn't do much about it... He'll cause a scene though if he's out and it's getting out of hand. He'll shout at them how lovely of a person you "were" and that the age regression made you no different. He has to pretend he just knew you though, not once giving away that he still does. Everyone in town is under the impression that you're dead after all, he doesnt want to cause suspicion. He'll end up telling you about it later that night, the lips of his mask pressed against your neck as he assures you that he loves you like this, and wouldn't change anything.

"Don't you think I should.. I dunno.. be a little different? More.. normal?" You'd ask, only receiving a soft grip from the other.

"No.. I like you this way. You don't need to change. I don't care that you're childish. It really doesn't matter to me, Dove, it's what makes you so special.."

About Ochaco

Perhaps I have felt the need lately, through my own interactions with the fandom, to defend my favourite characters more vehemently than I once did. I think this has its roots in the increasing amount of poor criticism I have seen regarding characters, in general - no doubt this is a by-product of the series ending, and tensions rising as a result.

I think one of the characters that is so frequently misunderstood, and also happens to be one of my favourites, is Ochaco. This long-standing issue is related to her place in the story as the female protagonist of the piece - an inherently controversial role due to the rampant sexism within the anime community (or, even, just the world at large).

My specific issue is the misinterpretation of her character that tends to rise out of her relationship with Deku. It's an inevitability, given that he is the protagonist, that every character will interact with him in different ways. For example, his relationship with All Might is one of teacher and student, whilst is relationship with Bakugo is one of rivalry and, to a degree, friendship.

However, Ochaco's relationship with Deku has become more complex since the revelation of her affections towards him. I think, for many people, this was considered an inevitability of her character and role in the story; for others, they may feel that it ruined her characterisation.

I take issue with the pseudo-feminism behind claims that a woman should reject stereotypical institutions such as marriage and family. A true feminist stance is one that encourages women to take the path that best suits them - including one in which they fall in love, get married, and have children.

In Ochaco's case, her emotional connection to Deku becomes one that influences her perspective on hero work. Given the story is, in some ways, an exploration of these different hero ideologies, and specifically how Deku influences, or is influenced by, these ideologies, this is a logical step for her character.

Moreover, her wanting to become like Deku falls in line with how her foil, Toga, perceives others - particularly those she admires. Whilst Toga wishes to become those that she has affectionate feelings for, Ochaco's path in the story is one that enables her to retain her identity, whilst also being inspired by Deku and the other heroes around her. The ability to be yourself is one that takes strength and courage.

Nonetheless, I would like to add: Toga's emotional attachment is a valid one - how she perceives love is different to others, but the inherent lack of identity that comes with it is a detriment. She needs time to come to terms with who she is before she can enter a relationship with anyone at all.

It does still need to be noted though, that Ochaco needs to come to terms with her emotions to effectively close out her arc. The criticism of her emotions that I have seen from fans of the series tends to reduce her to merely a love interest, which does not accurately portray every aspect of her character.

Moreover, for one to have a crush, or to be in love, is something that is not a detriment to their capabilities in achieving their goals.

Ochaco's resolve to understand her emotions properly, and accept them for her benefit, is what her story is about. Furthermore, this falls in line with Deku's parallel storyline of being able to control his own emotions for the benefit of his hero work, and his personal mental stability.

Removing those emotions entirely is counterproductive.

In fact, it suggests that a hero should not live with passion or emotion for others, as though being dispassionate in one's own life increases their capabilities as a hero. It does not. Ochaco's whole arc is about recognising this.

I feel a strong sense of connection to Ochaco, as a character. Her hero ideology - Who saves the heroes? - is inherently selfless and deeply personal to me. Reducing her character to a stereotype does her a disservice, and does not aid in our understanding of her story, or Deku's. If anything, it denies her value as a female protagonist, perpetuating the issues of sexism and misogyny within the anime and manga community.
