Daily Dragon #350 / #351 - Mega Charizard X & Mega Charizard Y

It's been irking me a little that the yearly Charizard kind of won't count for this challenge. But I figured I can still include my favorite Pokemon on a technicality!

I VERY rarely draw these mega evolutions. But they are both REALLY cool in my opinion. I like Y for being a little more simple and a little more fantasy looking, it has nice shapes. And I like X for being just so edgy and over the top and extra. Mega evolutions genuinely rule imo

Probably won't make it into the challenge but maybe next year I can draw Gigantimax Charizard and potentially even the Terestral Charizard. I've never drawn either of them... Cause they kinda suck imo lmao

Daily Dragon #352 - Snowdragon

A dragon made completely out of snow, stones, and small things the creator used as accessories! Most notably, within it are enchanted gems from a dragon's horde, allowing the Snowdragon to come to life!

This is a slightly less ambitious redraw this time lol. This is a dragon from maybe around 2014-2016ish?? I wanted to wait and see if it would snow irl so I could make a REAL Snowdragon. But it's becoming apparent to me that's not happening lol. So I just redrew this instead :)

Daily Dragon #353 - Damnation

“As there is life, I am death. As there is hope, I am despair. As there is light, I am darkness. I am true hatred incarnate, no power shall stand before me.”

This is Damnation, the Evil God Dragon! This was the big finale to my Monthly Dragon challenge in 2020! They're the grand final boss of your adventure, are you ready??

I tried to unify the color scheme a little bit more cause I thought all the red looked cool? I hope you agree!!

Also this is the other dragon I REALLY wanted to get done during this challenge! Alongside the Fruit Dragon, but they were so complicated I didn't think I'd get it done in time. But I cleaned up the design a bit and while it's hard to tell what's going on imo... Its cool enough

Daily Dragon #354 - Grey Greaver

One more anthro dragon before the challenge ends, why not? Grey works as a Bar Tender. He's very powerful and loves fighting, beating up people who cause problems in his bar!

Daily Dragon #355 - Gorosaur

Large and aggressive monsters that can release powerful blasts of electricity from their bodies! They can concentrate the power through beams from their mouth, or release it as a powerful blast from all over their bodies!

Daily Dragon #356 - Midgardsormr

A dragon I've been meaning to redraw LONG before this challenge. It's finally time to do some Dragalia Lost fanart once again :) This game was so cool and had some wonderful dragons. This was really fun to do!

When Dragalia Lost was just announced (so like 2018?) I drew Brunhilda and Midgardsormr cause I was SO excited for it, of course I was, it had dragons in it. So the redraw was between the two of them, but I went for Midgardsormr cause I have protagonist disease.

This game was really cool and I'm still sad it never got a proper console port or anything in Smash Bros. I never finished the story when the game closed so I should sit down and watch it soon. Listening to Cinderella Step while drawing this made me a little emotional lol

Daily Dragon #357 - Heartless Wyvern

I've done a couple of dragons from different RPG series. And it just felt appropriate to do one more that's been left off: Kingdom Hearts! This is my favorite Heartless, and I wanted to do it WAY earlier but really struggled with it until now

Well, to be honest, I still struggled with this a lot. Particularly the head and surprisingly thick meaty legs on these guys. But I think it came out alright. I hope you like it!

How about an AU that involves dinosaurs?

Not like "what if the characters were dinosaurs", but like, dinosaurs suddenly appear in Equestria, or something?

I think an au where Spikes egg was a preserved ancient dinosaur egg would be interesting! An au where Twilight hatches an egg that should logically never been able to hatch, an egg so old that it should have long since been not viable as a hatchable egg. But magic is funny sometimes, a a baby dinosaur named Spike is born.

Celestia while congratulating Twilight for getting her cutie mark is going internally “how did you do that!!” Celestia was probably a lot more hooves on with raising Spike alongside Twilight due to him being a live ancient creature. Spike would probably have even bigger “who am I and who are my people?” Thoughts than canon Spike.

And for more Dinosaur fun, once Discord and Starlight Glimmer with her time travel get involved. I like to think that once both are reformed and get to know each other try and do something nice for Spike by combining their talents….. and bringing back some more dinosaurs from the dead! They had pure intentions and I can assure you it ends up going chaotic. But Spike appreciates the gesture. And the Dinosaurs brought back do end up finding a place to call home in this new and strange land created by the asteroid that destroyed theirs.

Dinosaurs are similar to very distantly related to both dragons and the many different bird species of sentient beings on the planet. Like griffons, and whatever the anthro birds in the movie are called. I like the idea of Smolder being one of the Dinosaurs brought back.

I think the conflict between the Dinosaurs and Equestria would largely be confusion on both sides. What you mean Dinosaurs are alive again?! What do you mean we’ve been dead and for how long?! And Discord, Starlight, and Spike are in the middle trying to translate things as best as they possibly can with a bit of chaos and time magic and Spikes ability to somehow understand both sides rather clearly despite the circumstances.

Context: 1991 - 2001

I was a lonely but self-sustaining little kid. I was (and still am) extremely good at keeping myself entertained when left to my own devices.

I liked to tell myself stories, and when I wrote them up, I liked to illustrate them with photos. I'd arrange my toys into scenes from the story, take pictures of them, and paste the pictures into the page. (I went through a lot of film.)

I drew a lot, and there are some very early comics I made that I might dig up and scan one of these days. I particularly remember a Garfield-esque parrot and a series of magical girl spies who were all dog anthros (before I'd ever run into furry as a fandom). I'd draw Lion King and Pokemon characters often, too.

I started gaming very young. Like "before I remember" young. (There's photographic evidence.) My first console was the Sega Genesis, my second a GameBoy Color, and my third a PlayStation 1. Sonic 2, Pokemon Yellow, and Spyro the Dragon defined my experiences on those platforms. I also played PC games regularly.

My household was an early adopter of the internet because my mum worked in tech, but I didn't do much online until I was in fifth grade. I did, however, use the Audio Recorder program that came default on Windows 98 to make "radio shows." The internet package we got came with a webcam for some reason, and I used that to make videos in the same vein, too.

Through all of this, though, I was largely alone. My close-in-age cousin and I grew up together, so I did have her, but I didn't make any friends who weren't related to me until I was in first grade. I specifically have a memory of spending kindergarten recesses walking the perimeter of the school's asphalt playground, away from the other children.

Unfortunately, my early experiences with friendship also came with my first experience of emotional abuse. One of my friends from that time was highly controlling, and while I don't think she did any of it on purpose (I think she was emulating the things done to her), the experience of walking on eggshells and moderating my behavior to please her set me up to have similar friendships in the future.

My experience from a gender perspective was notably neutral. I think I perceived gender like a sports team--I had a lot of "girl power" stuff; it was the 90s, after all--rather than as something intrinsic to me. I was, as far as I was concerned, genderless, and I was happy that way.

"Boy" things weren't denied me when I was growing up, and some were offered deliberately. I'd also spent my very earliest years in the daytime care of my dad, who was one of the first in our area to do the stay-at-home dad thing at all. Some people he knew gave him grief for it.

But, I think if I'd been AMAB, I would have been denied girl things. Likewise, the expectations on me as someone perceived to be a girl were higher across the board than those heaped on my male cousins. Keeping the peace, smoothing over social situations, academic success, demonstrating skill with "boy" things and "girl" things alike--there was an endless list of duties, most of them implicit rather than explicit.

Still, I remember my childhood as largely happy. I spent a lot of time outside, climbing over rocks while playing pretend, and I was always making things. That's a pretty good life, you know?

I’m still trying to do the whole art full time thing. Recently I’ve had some big expenses and still have my normal bills to pay. Commissioning me would really help me out and get you some pretty cool custom art.

Anyway: prices! And examples!

Busts: any drawing of a character from only the waist or chest up.

Just a sketch: $10

With ink: $20

Flat tones: $25 for grayscale $30 for color.

Fully painted: $35 for grayscale $40 for color

Full body: any drawing that shows an entire character from head to toe

Just a sketch: $20

With ink: $40

Flat tones: $45 for grayscale $50 for color

Fully painted: $55 for grayscale $60 for color

If you’re getting a commission of your Role Playing character and the price is at least $20 congratulations you are now the proud owner of a $5 discount! This applies to your Dungeons and Dragons character, characters for other tabletop and pen and paper style roleplaying games and basically if you made a character to play a role in a game this is eligible for the discount. It just has to be your character and made for role playing purposes.

Add ons and other stuff:

Additional characters: A second character costs half the price of the first one. So for example if you got a full body sketch at $20 the second character would cost $10 thus making the total $30, a third character would be an additional $10, making the new total $40.

Backgrounds and large props: I typically leave backgrounds transparent or a flat neutral color. If you would like a different color just ask. For complicated backgrounds and large props (think like a vehicle or large musical instrument like a piano or a drum kit) consider them as additional characters in terms of price. Small props are free.

Pets: I basically just price them like props for very large (e.g. a horse or a bear) or very small animals (e.g. a mouse or small bird). Things that are sort of in between, like a dog or cat I usually price as if it were an add on bust.

Accent colors: you can add one accent color to anything black and white for free if it’s a flat color and $5 if it is painted.

Something not already on this list: I charge $20 an hour for extra stuff if there isn’t a price already, going in 15 minute increments. So if the thing you want takes 15 minutes it’s $5, or $10 for half an hour, and so on. Additional things that take less than 5 minutes total are free. I draw pretty fast so that time may go further than you think.

Preemptive question answering:

I’m not sure how much the thing I want will cost and/or I cannot afford it.

Contact me and I’ll help you figure it out! I like to think I’m a reasonable person and am willing to work with you so hopefully everyone can get what we want. For example if you want something very complicated and fully painted but don’t have the money to get it all at once you could commission the sketch now and then come back another time and pay the difference to have it finished.

No problem! I can draw from a description.

Will you draw adult stuff/what won’t you draw?

Sexy drawings are a-okay, and I don’t dislike drawing them. I will not draw things that are both sexual and violent (e.g. rape or guro) or anything featuring children or animals in a sexual context, though I may make an exception for anthro stuff if it’s tasteful. If you’re not sure just ask and I’ll tell you if I’m comfortable drawing it.

That said I usually prefer paypal for payments and they have a hard rule against sexual content. So we’d need to use a different payment method. I haven’t figured out a permanent solution for this yet.

What your favorite stuff to draw?

My favorite commissions are for people’s original characters! Other than that I like drawing hot boys and LGBTQIA+ themed stuff. I also like monsters.

How do I pay you?

I prefer paypal and I prefer payment before the commission is delivered. If you’d like to use a different method please ask. I am flexible.

How long will it take you to finish my drawing?

Usually not very long. I know people who have bought and paid for commissions from other artists and waited months or years for the finished drawing. I will not do that to you. You’ll get your art no more than two months from the date you pay for it. So if you pay for your drawing on September 1 you will have the finished art on, and probably well before, October 31. If for whatever reason I can’t fulfill that I’ll offer to refund you.
