Yuletide on AO3 is pretty much the only time I read fanfic. It's become a bit of a Boxing Day tradition, and early impressions from this year's list are justifying it. This is where you get the really fun and creative and silly little stories from extremely niche fandoms. I've barely looked and already found Tolkien/"The Moon Is Haunted" crossover fic. Multiple cute-looking Uncle Gard/Cornelia fics. You just can't get stories like this so conveniently anywhere else.
