thoughts on ct's fighting style and her position in pfl because I can (utc bc it's long lol):
okay so I like to jokingly refer to myself as THE wash meta/analysis guy, but I also absolutely love ct if anyone wasn't aware (she's my 2nd fav character behind wash if you couldn't tell lol), but as much as I love her it's honestly pretty difficult to write any sort of 'objective' meta or analysis posts about her because we don't know shit about her. so while this is meant to be a companion piece of sorts to this wash post, I just wanted to make it clear that a lot of this post is going to be based around my personal interpretation of ct (though I will try and be as objective as possible where I can be).
so much like wash, I think ct is also fairly unique among the freelancers for a few different reasons. one of them is that she's one of the few freelancers to wear a unique set of armor instead of the usual mark iv, and I think that ct's armor can actually tell us quite a bit about her skill set and what kind of role she possibly held. ct wears the eod helmet and chest which is primarily designed for protection from explosives, but when it comes to ct the more important information is that the eod armor was designed with less available grabbing surface than other armor variants. she also wears the scout shoulders, which is a variant that is focused on stealth capabilities.
from this information, we can easily deduce that ct's skill set primarily revolves around be slippery and sneaky, and when paired with what we see in the show it's pretty clear that ct is an intelligence operative. I think that ct is specifically a cyber operations specialist, and that prior to being recruited for freelancer she worked in ONI's section one (the actual intelligence gathering sector of ONI that is used by other UNSC branches).
another unique aspect about ct is that she is the only freelancer to consistently arm herself very lightly, with her primary weapon(s) of choice being two M6G magnums, and her other weapon(s) being two combat knives. this goes inline with what I've said above, and due to how lightly she arms herself I believe that ct generally isn't involved in any heavy combat scenarios. this point is supported by team b's failure to retrieve the briefcase with the access code during the heist in s9 (seriously, who tf thought it was a good idea to put 2 snipers and an intelligence operative all together as one team for a smash and grab retrieval mission??).
now to actually break down the whole 1.5 fights ct has in s10, I think that she probably somewhat shares wash's more grounded and pragmatic approach to combat as a whole, with the exception of her preference for duel wielding (which I personally headcanon is a thing she chooses to do because it makes her feel like an action/spy movie protagonist).
in both of her fight scenes ct seems to rely very heavily on her ability to plan ahead and get the jump on her opponents to take them by surprise (dropping from the ceiling to take out the two marines when she met up with the innie leader in the scrap yard, and using her armor enhancement to conceal her real position which allowed her to pin tex's arm behind her back), and I think it's safe to say that she probably isn't the kind of cqc fighter than can mow people down left and right like carolina can.
as mentioned above, I think ct's main goal is to take her opponents out in the quickest, quietest, and most efficient ways possible, much like a spy or an assassin, and while her loadout is great when she is in ideal circumstances where she's able to sneak around and avoid unnecessary combat, I don't think it's very good when it comes to drawn out encounters. we see this in her fight against tex and carolina, as while she handled herself pretty well it seemed like the longer the fight lasted the sloppier ct ended up getting, and eventually she made enough minor mistakes that carolina was able to knock her off her feet and disarm her in a single move, and tex, who was now aware of ct's armor enhancement, was able to cut her down.
#mine#rvb#red vs blue#agent connecticut#a lot of ppl like to make the women of rvb hyper competent and portray them as if they're on a completely different level than the dudes but#but i think it's important to ct's character to acknowledge her failures and the fact that she makes mistakes#she has cringe fail loser girl energy (affectionate) and the idea of her looking into pfl for petty reasons only to discover something so#much bigger than herself and choosing to /do something/ about it is so important!!! choice is a massive theme of her character and its so#important to her for people to have a choice that she gave her data to tex (a woman who was brought back from the dead and had no choice in#her existence) so that tex could make a choice for herself

FLIGHT 2136: PART 1
paige x azzi
word count: 4.7k
A/N: This is me attempting to continue a story that someone else started so there’s a little bit of 1st person at the beginning. The two of them don’t know each other in this universe 🫣 Let me know what you think and leave live reacts and comments if you can 🫶🏼
—————————————————————————
1st Person POV - Tuesday
The morning light filtered through the windows of Ronald Reagan National Airport, casting a golden hue over the terminal. I walked with an easy confidence toward my gate, the faint smell of coffee lingering in the air from the small kiosk in the corner.
My Delta flight to Hartford, Connecticut, was set to depart soon, and while most travelers shuffled impatiently in their boarding groups, I moved at my own pace, having the quiet privilege of a first-class ticket.
I wasn’t nervous for the trip to Harford. I never got nervous.
Traveling was second nature to me, and today was no exception. Adjusting the strap of my carry-on, I took a quick glance at my phone. Still good. The game wasn’t until Thursday, which meant I had more than enough time to settle in–explore Storrs a little before tip-off.
“Flight 2136 to Storrs, now boarding.”
As the flight crew called for first-class boarding, I stepped forward, handed over my ticket, and was waved through without a second glance. Within seconds, I was making my way down the jet bridge, the cool air-conditioning of the plane a nice contrast to the warmth of the terminal.
Seat 2A. Window. Perfect
I slid into the seat, stretching out with an appreciation for the extra space. The quiet hum of boarding announcements and the occasional shuffle of bags filled the cabin, but I was content. This was going to be a good trip. I’m making the right decision.
A movement beside me caught my attention. Someone slipped into the seat next to mine with an easy kind of grace. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but when she settled in, a sense of familiarity stirred in my chest, so I glanced over slightly.
Azzi Fudd. That’s ironic.
UConn’s star shooter. One of the most talented shooting guards in the country.
For a brief second, I considered saying nothing–letting her exist in peace for the duration of the flight. But then, why would I? Hesitation had never been my thing.
I turned toward her, offering a small but confident smile. “Good morning.”
She glanced over, her expressions polite but neutral, clearly used to traveling alone. “Good morning.”
Leaning back, I let my posture speak for itself–relaxed and effortless. “What’s got you flying to Connecticut on this random Tuesday?”
She let out a soft chuckle, as if the answer should have been obvious. “I go to school there. Was visiting family for a few days.”
I nodded, letting the moment stretch just enough to spark curiosity before adding, “I’m flying in for the game on Thursday.”
This caught her attention. Her head tilted slightly, and she gave me a curious look.
I let the silence linger, enjoying the moment before saying. “I hope you have a great game, Azzi Fudd.”
A small, almost shy smile crossed her lips, her guard lowering just a fraction. “You know who I am?”
I held her gaze. “Yeah, I know who you are.” Then I smiled softly.
She studied me for a second longer, as if trying to piece something together, before letting out a quiet chuckle and turning her attention forward.
Still, I could tell she was thinking about our exchange. I’d seen that look a few times before–the subtle mix of curiosity and amusement. The kind that said, Who is this person?
Which is nice. Something about her not recognizing me made me smile internally. Made a lot of questions fly through my head.
The flight attendants moved through first class, offering pre-departure drinks. I opted for water and Azzi did the same. The cabin was filling up quickly, the sounds of rolling luggage, hushed conversations, and the occasional overhead bin slamming shut blending into the usual pre-flight chaos.
As the final passengers trickled in, I glanced at her again. She was settled comfortably, dressed in a UConn hoodie and joggers, her hair pulled back. Even here, in an airport, getting ready to go 30,000 feet in the air, she carried herself like a top athlete–poised, confident, focused.
Eventually the engine rumbled to life as we pushed back from the gate. I kept my gaze ahead, but I could feel her sneaking quick glances in my direction, still trying to figure me out.
Finally, she spoke.
“So, are you a UConn fan, or…?”
I smirked, turning toward her just slightly. “I just respect greatness.”
She let out a small laugh, shaking her head. “That’s not really an answer.”
“Sure it is.” I leaned back in my seat. “I appreciate good basketball. UConn typically plays good basketball.”
She considered my words, then nodded, satisfied with my response–for now.
“You from Connecticut?” she asked, shifting slightly to face me better.
“Nope.”
She raised an eyebrow. “So you’re flying in just for the game?”
I nodded. “Yeah something like that.”
“Must be a big game for you to make the trip.”
I shrugged. “It’s basketball and it’s UConn. It should be a good game. Why shouldn’t I?”
She smiled again, this time more openly. “I like that answer.”
I smiled softly, letting my gaze linger for a moment longer before looking away.
The plane started its ascent, leveling off the ground. So I pulled out my phone, flipping through my playlist, but I could feel her still looking at me, still wondering.
I let the silence stretch a little longer before glancing at her. "You always sit next to people who know exactly who you are, or am I just lucky?"
Azzi laughed at that, shaking her head. "This is definitely a first."
"Glad I could make your morning interesting."
She tilted her head slightly, as if she was debating something, then asked, "So what's your story? You a journalist? A scout? Former player?"
I chuckled. "You tell me. What do I look like?"
She squinted, pretending to analyze me. "Hmm... not a journalist. You don't have that nosy energy and you aren’t leading the conversation much."
I smirked. "Good start."
"Not a scout either. You're too relaxed."
"Keep going."
She tapped her fingers on the armrest. "Former player?"
I gave a small shrug. "Something like that."
Azzi gives me a curious look so I simply add, “Tore my ACL.”
Azzi nods at this, a few thoughts flickering across her face, before she decides to be satisfied with the answer, even though I hadn't really given her a complete one.
For a while, we just sat there, the quiet hum of the plane filling the space between us. It wasn't an awkward silence-it was comfortable, like two people who had met at just the right time, in just the right way.
Eventually, she glanced over again. "Since you know who I am, do I get to know who you are?”
I turned toward her, meeting her gaze with a confident ease. "You'll figure it out."
She let out a breath of laughter, shaking her head. "Mysterious huh."
I grinned. "I try."
She didn't press further, but I could tell she wanted to. Instead, she leaned back in her seat, arms crossed loosely, a thoughtful look on her face. The rest of the flight stretched ahead of us, and something told me this conversation was far from over.
The flight had settled into a steady hum, the initial rush of takeoff giving way to a quiet cruise above the clouds. I let my head rest lightly against the seat, simply watching the muted sunlight filter through the window as I got lost in my thoughts.
After a while, I reached into my bag and pulled out a book, flipping it open to where I’d left off. The familiar weight in my hands was comforting, and I easily lost myself in the rhythm of the words.
A few minutes passed before I felt it–that subtle sensation of being watched. I didn’t reach right away, just kept reading, letting the moment stretch. But sure enough, when I shifted slightly, I caught Azzi glancing at the pages from the corner of my eye.
I turned another page, pretending not to notice, until she finally spoke.
“Not many people our age read these days.”
A small smirk tugged at my lips as I glanced up, amusement flickering in my eyes. “Our age?”
Azzi shrugged, the ghost of a smile playing on her lips. “Yeah. You carry yourself a certain way. Too confident to be young, but definitely not old.”
I chuckled at that, licking my slightly dry lips before I titled my head. “Twenty-two.”
Azzi nodded, like she had just proven a point. “Exactly.”
Something about the way she said it–so certain, so sure–made me grin. I let the moment linger for a beat before turning back to my book, the words on the page suddenly a little less interesting than the person sitting next to me.
Azzi had gone quiet again, but I could tell her mind was still turning.
She was debating something, mulling it over like a question she couldn’t shake. I went back to my book, letting the silence settle, but it didn’t last long.
“Okay, I’m sorry—I can’t help it,” she finally said, exhaling a quiet laugh. “I need some more answers from you.”
I arched a brow, slightly amused at her behavior, before slipping my bookmark into place and setting the book down on my lap. Adjusting slightly, I leaned against the window, fully turning my attention to her now.
Azzi met my gaze for a brief moment, her brown eyes flickering with something unreadable when they met my blue ones before she blinked away breaking the eye contact as she shifted just enough to regain composure.
“I’m usually not much of a talker,” she admitted.
I tilted my head slightly, a small smile playing at my lips. “But?”
Azzi exhaled a soft chuckle, shaking her head as if she couldn’t quite believe herself right now. “But you know who I am, and you’re flying in for the game on Thursday. That seems like the universe trying to tell me something. Like I should talk to you more.”
I laughed at that. “God works in mysterious ways.”
That made her smile. “So you’re religious?”
“I am.”
Azzi nodded, taking that in, before grinning. “You’re a woman of few words.”
I chuckled. “I’m not much of a talker these days.”
Azzi picked up on that instantly. “These days?”
Her curiosity was sharp, intentional. She seemed to pick up on little things that most people didn’t. I met her gaze again, letting the words settle between us before answering.
“Things kinda just happen in life that change how you used to be,” I said simply, my voice carrying something quieter. Then, with a small, almost nostalgic smile, I added, “I used to be a chatterbox.”
Azzi studied me for a moment, then exhaled a soft chuckle. “I see you’ve opted for more of the mysterious route these days.”
I smirked. “Something like that.”
She hummed, shifting slightly in her seat. “How much do you know about me, exactly?”
That question made me grin. I could tell she was fishing, trying to gauge just how much of her life I’d kept tabs on if any.
“I just follow basketball,” I said smoothly, tilting my head slightly. “I don’t know much about you specifically… if that makes you feel better.”
Azzi let out a quiet laugh, a smile tugging at her lips. “I never said I felt bad about it.”
That made me squint slightly, studying her. There was something playful in the way she said it, like she was testing the waters, waiting to see how I’d respond.
After a beat, I nodded. “Fair.”
Azzi held my gaze for a moment longer, something unreadable flickering behind her eyes before she finally looked away, exhaling softly. She drummed her fingers against the armrest, like she was debating whether to keep pressing or let it go.
I figured she would drop it, but then she glanced back at me. “So, if you just follow basketball, that means you’re a fan of the game itself—not necessarily the players?”
I smirked slightly. “That’s what I said.”
Azzi hummed, shifting in her seat so she was angled toward me again. “Alright then. Who’s your favorite team?”
I chuckled at that. “You want the real answer or the diplomatic one?”
Her eyebrows lifted. “Oh, so there’s a wrong answer?”
“More like one that might bruise your ego a little.”
Azzi let out a laugh, shaking her head. “Now I have to know.”
I leaned back, letting the suspense build for a second before finally answering, “I’ve always been a South Carolina fan.”
Azzi made a face at this answer. “Wow. That’s crazy.”
I laughed. “I warned you.”
She sighed, shaking her head. “You had me thinking the universe was setting something up here, and then you hit me with that.”
I smirked. “Didn’t realize this was a dealbreaker.”
Azzi tilted her head, pretending to think. “I guess I’ll allow it.
I let out a soft laugh, nodding. “That’s generous of you.”
She grinned but didn’t say anything for a moment, just studying me again, like she was still trying to piece something together. Then, finally, she asked, “So… do you still play?”
I ran my fingers along the edge of my book, considering my response. “Yeah. Just not this season.”
Her eyes flickered with recognition. “Because of the ACL?”
I gave a small nod. “Yeah.”
She exhaled softly, like she understood exactly what that felt like. “That sucks.”
I huffed a quiet laugh. “Tell me about it.”
Azzi tilted her head, studying me again. “What position?”
“Point guard.”
She grinned slightly. “Figures.”
I raised a brow. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Azzi smirked. “You carry yourself like one.”
I chuckled, shaking my head a little. “And how exactly does a point guard carry themselves?”
She shrugged. “Like they’re always in control. Always seeing two steps ahead of everyone else.”
I hummed, amused. “Insightful.”
Azzi leaned back in her seat, a knowing look in her eyes. “I have my moments.”
I let the moment stretch between us, then smirked. “You’re not wrong, though.”
She smiled, like she already knew that. “Figured.”
After this Azzi kept the conversation going, steering it effortlessly. She asked about my recovery, how long I’d been in D.C., and what I thought of UConn’s season so far. I answered when necessary, but mostly, I let her take the lead, watching how she engaged—curious, thoughtful, but never overbearing. It was easy, the kind of conversation that didn’t require effort.
At some point, the captain’s voice crackled through the speakers, announcing our descent into Hartford. The mood between us shifted—not awkward, just quieter, like we both knew whatever this was, this easy back-and-forth, would soon come to an end.
The plane touched down smoothly, and after taxiing for a few minutes, the seatbelt sign flicked off. Azzi and I stood almost at the same time, and for the first time, she actually noticed my height.
Her gaze flickered upward, just slightly. Not by much—maybe an inch and a half, two at most—but enough for her to register it. I saw the way she took in the difference, her eyes narrowing just a little before she smirked to herself.
I grabbed my carry-on from the overhead, and just as I was about to step aside, an older woman across the aisle struggled to pull down her own bag. Before I could think twice, I reached up, easily grabbing it for her and setting it down with a polite smile.
Azzi was already in front of me, but I caught the way she paused, how her eyes flicked toward my arm. It wasn’t much, but I knew what she saw—how the muscles, usually understated, tensed for just a second, giving away what I was in fact an athlete.
She didn’t say anything, but there was something in the way she blinked, like she was filing that detail away.
I smirked slightly. “See something interesting?”
Azzi rolled her eyes but smiled. “Just confirming my suspicions.”
I let out a quiet chuckle, grabbing my bag as we started moving down the aisle. “And what suspicions are those?”
She looked forward again, shaking her head like she wasn’t about to give me the satisfaction of an answer. “Wouldn’t you like to know.”
I huffed a small laugh, following her off the plane. “You have no idea.”
As we filtered out into the terminal, the steady hum of airport chatter surrounded us. The moment was nearing its natural end, both of us instinctively moving in different directions. I adjusted my bag, glancing ahead when Azzi suddenly slowed, turning back toward me.
“Alright,” she said, her voice light but pointed. “Can I finally get your name?”
I exhaled through my nose, pretending to consider it for a moment before cracking a small smile. “Paige.”
Azzi repeated it softly, like she was testing how it sounded. Then, her smile grew. “Paige.”
I nodded.
Her eyes flickered with something—curiosity, maybe. “Where are you sitting Thursday, Paige?”
I huffed a quiet laugh, shifting my weight slightly. “You’ll see me, don’t worry.”
Azzi let out a laugh of her own, shaking her head. “Mysterious until the end, huh?”
I smirked.
She took a small step back, still holding my gaze. “Alright then. I hope I see you Thursday, Paige.”
“See you Thursday, Azzi.”
I turned first, heading toward baggage claim, but I could still feel her eyes on me for just a second longer before she finally walked away.
3rd Person POV - Wednesday
The low hum of conversation filled the diner, a cozy spot just off campus. The kind of place where students and locals alike came for a quick, unpretentious meal. Azzi sat alone in a corner booth, her food pushed slightly to the side as she absentmindedly scrolled through her phone between bites of her sandwich. She had just finished practice, still dressed in a UConn hoodie and sweats, her legs stretched comfortably under the table as she enjoyed the serenity of being alone after a long day.
The bell above the door jingled as another customer walked in. Azzi didn’t look up at first, too focused on her own space, but a shift in the atmosphere made her glance toward the entrance.
Paige.
Azzi blinked, caught off guard for a second. Paige moved through the diner with the same confidence she had on the plane–unhurried, assured, like she was exactly where she was meant to be. When their eyes met, a small smirk tugged at Paige’s lips as she adjusted the strap of her bag over her shoulder and changed direction, walking toward Azzi’s booth without hesitation.
Azzi leaned back slightly, watching as Paige came to a stop at the edge of the table.
“Didn’t take you for a diner person,” Paige said, tilting her head as she glanced down at Azzi.
Azzi quirked a brow. “And what exactly did you take me for then?”
Paige exhaled a quiet chuckle. “Not sure yet.”
Azzi let out a small laugh at that, shaking her head. She gestured toward the other side of the booth. “Since you seem curious, you might as well sit.”
Paige didn’t hesitate to take the invitation, sliding into the seat across from her. The air between them felt the same as it had on the plane—slightly charged, neither of them in a rush to give too much away.
For a moment, Azzi just observed her. The dim lighting of the diner softened Paige’s sharp features, but there was still something unreadable about her, a layer just beneath the surface that Azzi wanted to press into.
“So,” Azzi started, fingers tapping lightly against her cup, “what brings you here?”
Paige leaned back, resting an arm on the top of the booth. “Needed some food and this was near my hotel. Didn’t expect to run into you if that’s what you’re hinting at.”
Azzi gave her a look. “Didn’t expect, or you don’t mind?”
Paige smirked slightly, neither confirming nor denying. Instead, she nodded toward Azzi’s half-eaten sandwich. “That any good?”
Azzi shrugged. “It’s a sandwich.”
“Helpful.” Paige snorted, glancing toward the menu.
Azzi studied her for a second before speaking again. “So, you gonna tell me where you’re sitting tomorrow, or are you still trying to be mysterious?”
Paige grinned. “Wouldn’t be any fun if I told you.”
Azzi shook her head, amused. “You really don’t give anything away, do you?”
Paige’s smile softened, but there was something thoughtful in her expression. “Not much to give these days.”
Azzi caught that phrasing again—these days. She let it settle between them for a moment before leaning forward slightly, resting her elbows on the table.
“You’re interesting, you know that?”
Paige raised an eyebrow, lips twitching like she was trying not to smile. “That a compliment?”
Azzi mirrored her expression. “Haven’t decided yet.”
Paige raised an eyebrow, leaning in just slightly. “You haven’t decided if you’re complimenting me?”
Azzi opened her mouth to reply, but was interrupted when the server appeared at the table setting a water down. The girl gave Paige a once-over, her gaze lingering a lot longer than necessary. It wasn’t subtle, and it didn’t go unnoticed. Paige blinked, raising an eyebrow but didn’t say anything.
The waiter, undeterred, flashed a grin and asked flirtatiously, “What can I get for you?”
Paige tilted her head slightly. “I’ll just have what she has.”
The waiter jotted it down, her eyes flicking back to Paige, clearly intrigued. “I’ve never seen you around here before,” she said, voice tinged with interest. “I would’ve remembered a face like that.”
Paige gave a tight, polite smile. “I’m not from here. Just visiting.”
The server hummed thoughtfully, clearly trying to piece something together, before she walked off with a final lingering glance.
Azzi watched the whole interaction with mild amusement, eyes flicking to Paige’s expression. Once the server was out of earshot, Azzi raised an eyebrow. “You certainly have a way of leaving an impression.”
Paige shrugged, leaning back in her seat again, her lips curling up into a faint smile. “Guess it’s a talent.”
Azzi couldn’t help but laugh at that. “A talent, huh? I’m starting to see why you don’t need to talk much... you let people do it for you.”
Paige’s smile softened slightly as she shifted in her seat, taking a moment before responding. “It’s easier that way. Sometimes.”
Azzi leaned back, propping her chin up in one hand. “And what makes it easier?”
Paige’s eyes flicked to Azzi, as if weighing whether or not to answer. There was something about her, something quiet but intense that made Azzi lean in just a little closer, her curiosity growing.
Finally, Paige shrugged slightly. “Not everyone needs to know everything.”
Azzi raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Is that your way of saying I won’t get the whole story?”
Paige chuckled softly, meeting her gaze. “I didn’t say that. May it’s just not the right time yet.”
Azzi didn’t push. Instead, she just smiled, amused by the game they were starting to play.
“I’ll be sure to remember that,” Azzi said, leaning back as she crossed her arms with a grin. “Maybe I'll try to get you to talk tomorrow.”
Paige shot her a look, her lips curling into something a little more playful. “Yeah maybe you’ll get lucky.”
Azzi let the words hang between them for a moment, her grin deepening. “I think I like my odds.”
Paige only hummed, picking up her water and taking a sip. “Do you?”
Azzi tilted her head slightly, studying her. “You don’t seem like the type to say things you don’t mean.”
Paige set her cup down, her expression unreadable. “And what type do I seem like?”
Azzi’s gaze flickered over her, deliberate but not too obvious. “Still figuring that out.”
Paige let out a soft chuckle, shaking her head. “That why you keep asking so many questions?”
Azzi smirked. “Something like that.”
Paige tapped her fingers against the table. “And here I thought you were just being friendly.”
Azzi leaned forward slightly, her voice light. “Maybe I am Paige.”
Paige arched a brow, but before she could respond, the waiter appeared, setting down her plate.
“Here you go,” the waiter said, her tone lingering as she looked at Paige with clear interest. “Can I get you anything else gorgeous?”
Paige offered a polite but tight smile. “No, thank you.”
The waiter hesitated just a second too long before finally nodding and stepping away.
Azzi, who had been watching the exchange with mild amusement, took a slow sip of her drink. “You make friends fast.”
Paige picked up her sandwich, glancing at Azzi with a smirk. “You jealous?”
Azzi exhaled a short laugh, shaking her head. “Not even a little.”
Paige chuckled, digging into her food. “Good. I’d hate for that to be another thing you had to figure out.”
Azzi’s gaze lingers on Paige for a moment before she speaks again, her tone smooth but laced with something playful. “So, you’re telling me there’s a chance?”
Paige picks up her fork, raising an eyebrow. “A chance for what exactly?”
Azzi shrugs, pretending to be casual. “For me to get some answers out of you tomorrow.”
Paige pauses briefly, just enough for the words to settle, before taking a bite of her food. “Didn’t say that.”
Azzi watches her, amusement flickering in her eyes. “But you didn’t say there wasn’t.”
Paige smirks slightly but doesn’t give her the satisfaction of a direct answer. Instead, she gestures toward Azzi’s plate. “You done with that?”
Azzi leans forward, resting her elbows on the table. “Trying to change the subject?”
Paige shrugs, blue eyes glinting a little. “Just figured you might be too busy trying to figure me out to actually eat.”
Azzi lets out a quiet laugh, shaking her head. “I can multitask.”
Paige tilts her head slightly, as if assessing her. “Good to know.”
They hold each other’s gaze for a second longer than necessary, a quiet challenge passing between them, before Paige finally breaks eye contact to take another bite. Azzi smirks to herself, leaning back against the booth.
Azzi tilted her head slightly, eyes flickering over Paige with something unreadable behind them. “You’re really hard to get a read on.”
Paige let out a soft chuckle, tearing off a small piece of her sandwich. “That’s funny. You seem to be doing just fine.”
Azzi smirked. “Am I?”
Paige shrugged, popping the bite into her mouth. “You tell me.”
Azzi watched her for a moment before shaking her head with an amused smile. “You like making people work for it, don’t you?”
Paige leaned back slightly. “Depends on the person.”
Azzi hummed at that, tapping her fingers against the table. “And what about me?”
Paige didn’t answer right away, just let the moment hang between them before finally saying, “Guess you’ll have to figure that out Azzi.”
Azzi exhaled a short laugh, shaking her head. “You don’t make anything easy, do you?”
Paige smirked. “Where’s the fun in easy?”
Azzi opened her mouth to respond, but then her phone buzzed. She glanced at it, then let out a small sigh. “Alright, I gotta get going.”
That’s when she reached for her wallet, and Paige immediately waved her off. "I got it. Don’t worry about it."
“I can't let you do that."
Paige met her gaze, smirking. "Azzi, it’s a sandwich. Ten dollars won’t kill me."
Azzi let out a soft laugh, shaking her head. "Fine, but I’m getting it next time."
Paige arched a brow. "Next time?"
Azzi pushed up from the booth, a smirk tugging at her lips. "Yeah, next time." She adjusted her jacket before glancing at Paige one last time. "I’ll see you tomorrow, Paige."
Paige watched her for a second before nodding. "I’ll see you tomorrow, Azzi."
Just as Azzi turned to leave, Paige called out, "Hey, Azzi."
Azzi stopped, looking back with a curious expression. "Hm?"
Paige hesitated for a moment, carefully choosing her words before saying, "I need you to be open-minded tomorrow, okay?"
Azzi’s brows furrowed slightly, intrigue flickering across her face. She studied Paige for a beat, noticing the subtle seriousness in her expression, then nodded slowly. "Okay."
A small smile crossed Paige’s lips. "Thanks."
Azzi returned the smile before stepping back. "Bye, Paige."
Paige watched her leave, tapping her fingers lightly against the table, a thoughtful look settling in her eyes before she went back to eating her sandwich.

༯ OFF THE COURT — CHAPTER TWO 𝜗𝜚
paige bueckers x azzi fudd
themes: angst, jealousy
tw: swearing (i think that’s all?)
word count: 2.7k
a/n: i had fun with this chapter! excited to continue writing 😋 i had to ofc add the lil dijonai & lyss foul haha. also if u have any one shot suggestions please please lemme know! enjoy
“oh my goodness, hi! nika pulled each one of the freshmen into a warm embrace. “we’re so excited to have you guys here!”
we? paige thought to herself, that she didn’t dare speak out loud.
“we’re excited to be here!” caroline smiled at the three older girls, as aubrey and azzi hugged.
paige purposefully put distant between herself and the curly headed brunette, not wanting to start arguments her first day.
“so, where do you guys wanna see next?” aubrey questioned, while paige remained silent, keeping to herself.
“you tell us,” ashlynn said, excitedly.
“alright,” nika slung her arm around paige’s shoulder, “let’s go show you the dorms then.”
as the seven girls made their way to the dorm rooms, azzi walked behind aubrey who led the way, while nika and paige placed themselves in the back.
“you good, p?” nika whispered, “it’s unlike you to be this quiet.”
paige plastered a smile on her face, “all good, nik.”
“no, seriously, what’s up?”
“i’m fine, really. just tired,” she reassured her close friend, gently squeezing her shoulder.
minutes later the girls arrived at the dorms when nika spoke up.
“i think it’s best to divide into groups so we can still get lunch. aubrey, show caroline and yanna your room, paige show azzi yours and i’ll show ash mine.”
of course nika would place azzi with paige. alone.
“um, i’ll take ashlynn,” paige suggested, but it was too late. ashlynn was already off with nika, aubrey was leading carol and yanna to her dorm.
azzi stood awkwardly in the hallway, eyes focused on the floor, as paige glanced once at her before taking off to her room.
“cmon,” she muttered, passing azzi.
azzi was hesitant to follow, but she did regardless, keeping her head low while nerves twisted in her stomach. azzi couldn’t remember the last time she was alone with paige, if ever. the pair have clearly never gotten along, so she was nervous to see where this would go.
paige opened the door to her dorm, that she shared with another teammate, dorka, who happened to be laying in her bed.
“hey dorka,” paige said, announcing her presence along with azzi’s.
“hey p,” dorka looked at her, then at the freshmen, “who’s this?”
“one of the new freshmen, azzi.”
dorka smiled at azzi in a reassuring manner, then pulled her in for a quick hug. “welcome to uconn, azzi!”
azzi gently hugged the older girl back, feeling less nervous with dorka being there. “happy to be here.”
“you’re going to love it. i’m a transfer, and its absolutely amazing. the girls are all so great, geno can be a bit tough, but he means well,” dorka explained.
azzi was genuinely excited for her start at university of connecticut. she’s always kept uconn as an option for her future school, and finally was able to commit just a few weeks ago. she figured it’d be the best fit for her, despite paige being here.
“well, i told lou i’d meet her in the dining hall, so i’ll catch y’all later,” dorka said, grabbing her bag and phone before quickly leaving.
the silent in the small dorm was haunting. paige’s eyes were focused on her phone, while azzi motionlessly stood against the wall, waiting for any sort of conversation.
“so, do you like it here so far?” paige asked, finally breaking the silence.
azzi looked over at paige, “it’s nice, yeah. the girls seem nice.”
“that’s good,” paige replied.
“are you excited to meet-“
“you don’t have to make small talk, paige. we both know you aren’t happy with me committing here,” azzi bite out.
paige scolded her eyes, “you’re right. i’m not happy with you being here. but i can’t change it, can i?”
“nope, you can’t. let’s just ignore each other like we’ve always have.”
secretly, paige didn’t want to ignore azzi. she couldn’t. but she pretended to did it anyway.
“fine by me,” paige shouted, walking towards the door.
“where are you going? this is literally your room!”
“anywhere else but here, with you. go catch up with nika or something,” paige muttered as she left, leaving azzi staring at the door.
it was the first day of practice with the new additions to the uconn team, and paige successfully avoided azzi at all costs. whenever the team got together, they’d always converse with other players, never daring to look each other’s way.
paige brought the basketball up the court during a 5v5 match. she directed the players on her team to her liking, then passed it to lou who made the open 3 shot. aubrey secured the rebound, threw it off to azzi, who began to bring it to the opposing net. paige, of course, was right on her heels, defending her. azzi noticed the blonde from the corner of her eye, looking unbothered as ever.
reaching the 3 point line with paige right there, azzi considers all the potential lanes to the basket. when nika, part of the opposing team, goes to defend aubrey, azzi sprints through an open lane, going for the layup.
paige was quick to notice her plan, though. she blocked the ball from entering the basket, hitting azzi in the process. it was an obvious foul.
“hey, that’s a foul!” azzi shouted.
paige, who’s grinning to herself, adverted her eyes to the brunette. “no it wasn’t, it was clean.”
“bullshit!”
“you’re just mad you can’t make a shot on me,” paige replied.
“please. like i haven’t done it before!” azzi exclaimed loud enough for heads to turn.
“ladies!” coach auriemma interrupted their argument, “make sure to stay after practice.”
for goodness sake, paige thought to herself.
“this is all your fault,” paige whispered, loud enough for only azzi could hear.
azzi simply rolled her eyes at paige’s remark. she wasn’t going to let the older girl distract her further; she’s already done it enough.
practice quickly came to a close; azzi managed to put distance between herself and paige, not wanting to cause any more trouble than she already had.
each one of the basketball players made their way out of the gym, while azzi and paige anxiously remained, waiting for coach.
his office door opened, “come on in.”
paige took the left chair as azzi took the right, both not saying a word. coach auriemma looked pissed.
“your behaviors is unacceptable. if you both want to help this team succeed, we’ll all need to get along, including you two. especially you guys. you both are two of the best players we have, and i’m going to need y’all to quit it with the bickering and focus on the game. am i clear?”
“yes, coach,” paige and azzi say in unison.
“alright then. with that being said, go out to eat with one another. get to know each other. i don’t know what caused your disliking of each other, but it’s got to change immediately,” geno auriemma instructed the girls.
paige’s eyes widen as azzi shifted uncomfortably in her seat, clearly not pleased with his suggestion. but azzi was new, and she only wanted to please her coach.
“that sounds fine by me,” azzi said, despite her brain saying she’d rather do anything else.
paige stole a glance at the younger girl, before also agreeing.
“good. when tomorrow comes around, i better not hear any arguments. and if i do, the pair of you will face further consequences. am i understood?”
paige nodded her head rapidly, “yes coach.”
“so, where do you wanna go?” azzi questioned the blonde after exiting coach auriemma’s office.
paige rolled her eyes, “we aren’t actually going anywhere together. if you thought that, you’re crazy.”
azzi couldn’t help but be slightly shocked that paige would lie to their coach. “paige, i’m not getting into more trouble just because of you. look, i don’t want to go anywhere with you either, but we have no choice. let’s just get it over with.”
paige absorbed azzi’s words, carefully considering them. “alright, fine,” she sighed, “where too?”
“do you like chick fa la?”
“uh, yeah. who doesn’t? that’s like asking if i breath air.”
after a silent car ride with paige driving and azzi being the passenger princess, the two ordered their meals and sat in an open booth, facing one another.
paige continued not to look azzi in the eye. azzi, however, was harshly glaring at the older girl. “are you going to ignore me forever or actually acknowledge we’re teammates?”
paige finally locked gazes with azzi, “i was planning to ignore you forever.”
azzi couldn’t help but softly chuckle, “of course you were.”
paige lips rose at the sight of azzi’s breathtaking smile, “you make it impossible, though.”
“oh, really? it seems you’ve been doing it pretty damn well for as long as i’ve known you.”
paige didn’t dare to tell her that ignoring azzi is the hardest thing someone could do. it wasn’t just her skills on the court, that could make anyone, including paige, second-guess their game. it was the way azzi carried herself, making everything she did seem effortless, even when it wasn’t. her silent confidence and her ability to make everyone feel included even in a busy crowd. paige hated how much she admired the young girl from afar; how looking at azzi made her forget about everything and everyone around her. it was impossible to ignore a girl like azzi.
instead, paige settled on, “you’re just a pretty good player. i always notice good players.”
after swallowing a bite of a chicken nugget, azzi leaned her elbows on the table, a small smirk lingering on her face. “so now you admit to me being good?”
paige couldn’t help but roll her eyes at her comment regarding USA basketball days. “whatever, whatever.”
azzi laughed to herself, and continued to enjoy her meal, while paige also focused on eating rather than the conversation.
azzi and paige eventually relaxed to each other’s presence, feeling more comfortable than before. they discussed the challenging classes they were taking and geno’s firm coaching methods; the girls began to somewhat enjoy each others company, when a boy around their age walked up to their table.
paige and azzi both looked up at the man, who was directly eyeing the brunette. azzi’s cheeks reddened at the sudden attention.
“can we help you?” paige asked, making the man turn to look at her.
“yeah, uh, i was wondering if i could get your number? you’re, like, really pretty,” the man said to azzi.
her cheeks were basically inflamed at this point, “uh,” she tried to think of the words, “sure, i guess?”
paige scoffed at azzi’s interaction with this random guy. they were finally talking and she had to ruin it. paige clenched her fists and suddenly rose from the table, causing the man and azzi to look at her.
“i’m going to the car,” paige announced, taking off before azzi could get another word out.
after paige’s exit, the boy looked helplessly at azzi, beaming regardless of paige’s reaction. he was pretty cute, but azzi didn’t have the time to focus on anything but basketball and her classes.
“i’m kameron, by the way,” he said.
“i’m azzi, but i gotta go, sorry,” azzi replied, trying to hurry out of there as soon as possible.
“wait, your number—“ but azzi was already out the door.
azzi climbed into the passenger seat, immediately aware that this ride will be even more awkward than the one they previously had.
paige’s grip on the steering wheel caused her knuckles to turn white. when azzi noticed, she softly asked, “are you okay?”
“are you kidding me, azzi? we were finally getting along and you had to ruin it by giving some dude attention. what the actual fuck?”
“it wasn’t my fault he came up to me!” azzi shouted at paige.
“you could’ve said no! but instead you agreed right in front of me!”
azzi gaped at paige, “why do you care who asks me for my number?”
“i don’t!” paige answered defensively, although it was a complete lie.
“what are you, jealous?”
paige’s cheeks tinted at her comment, “don’t be silly, azzi.” she turned on the car and began driving down the road.
arriving back on campus, paige instantly took off without as much as a glance at azzi. after their short argument in the car, paige blasted music to avoid further comments from azzi.
azzi scrolled into her dorm that she shared with caroline, letting out an aggravated sigh.
“you good, girl?” carol asked azzi, with her eyebrows drawn together.
“yeah. coach auriemma made me and paige go out to eat, trying to make us get to know one another. complete bullshit, if you ask me.”
“why don’t y’all like each other, anyway?” carol questioned her friend.
“i don’t know! i have no idea what i did to her. she’s hated me ever since USA basketball,” azzi complained.
caroline looked around in confusion. “wait, so what went down when you guys were out?”
“we were actually talking, without arguing, and a guy came up, asking for my number. paige just got up and left. then in the car, she got all pissing and screamed how i said yes ‘right in front of her,’” azzi made quotations with her fingers.
caroline laughed at azzi’s explanation. “what?” azzi smiled.
“she was jealous!”
although azzi accused paige of being jealous earlier, she didn’t exactly believe it to be true. how could paige be jealous of someone hitting on azzi? she hated her.
“no, trust me, she wasn’t. she was just upset for some reason.”
“oh my god, she’s totally in love with you or something,” carol suggested as azzi turned pink.
“caroline, she’s not. she’s constantly avoiding me and is always mean. does that really should like her liking me?”
carol held out her hands like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “um, yes!”
azzi couldn’t comprehend how caroline got the impression that paige was in love with her. that was beyond crazy. paige’s hatred for azzi has been going strong ever since USA basketball tryouts. there was just no way.
practice the next day was going smoothly; paige and azzi didn’t interact much, like the usual, which didn’t cause geno to enable further consequences for the young girls. azzi was showing off her 3 point shooting skills, while paige continued to be an assist machine.
it was time for another 5v5, and of course paige and azzi were on opposing teams. azzi drained 3 after 3, getting impressive looks from her teammates as well as the two coaches.
a long rebound ended up near the 3 point line, to which azzi managed to secure it. however, she didn’t see the older blonde who was also going for the rebound right behind her. paige crashed into azzi, knocking her to the floor face first. paige maintained her standing position, with each one of her legs around azzi’s torso.
without thinking, paige reached down to place both hands on azzi’s hips, gently pulling her up. azzi’s ass was flush against paige’s front, sending unwelcome feelings throughout the blonde’s body.
there’s a brief moment of awkward silence, azzi still slightly disoriented from the fall. paige’s hands lingered on azzi’s hips a second too long, not that azzi made any hint to move them. she can feel the older girls hands on her body, steady and warm, making her heart skip a beat in her chest.
“you good?” paige whispered, practically in the curly brunette’s ear, given the distance between the girls.
“yeah, thanks,” azzi replied breathlessly, trying desperately to hide the flush creeping up her neck.
after noticing her lingering hands on the hips of azzi, paige removes them acting as calm as possible. paige notices a shift in tone and smirks, teasing the younger girl, “didn’t think i hit you that hard.”
azzi responds with a snark of her own, “i’m not fragile, you know,” attempting to look tougher than she truly is.
paige’s smirk widens as she allows her eyes to take in the sight of azzi. messy bun, leg sleeve, practice jersey slightly ruffled. she looked good.
“like what you see?” azzi commented on paige’s wandering eyes.
embarrassed, paige looks away, “you wish.”
azzi softly chuckles as the freshmen makes her way over to caroline and yanna, ready to continue the 5v5.
in a dais, paige stands motionless in the spot of her and azzi’s interaction, silently wishing she could have one more excuse to talk to her.
but the older girl didn’t, so she walked back into position, ready for the next play to come.

Welcome to the chapter 8 of Through The Lens. I hope you all enjoy and there is more to come...stay tuned my loveies!! 🏀💕📸
The time at home had been everything I needed—warm hugs from Granny, my mom’s home-cooked meals, and the simple comfort of being surrounded by family. It also gave me the chance to step back and see the bigger picture. My final project wasn’t just about basketball anymore; it was about capturing life, connections, and the emotions that come with them.
For the past week, I’d been documenting everything on my personal camera. From my morning walks through the fields to late-night chats with Granny, I wanted to remember it all. Paige had been right by my side, blending seamlessly into my family. It was surprising how easily she fit in, like she was always meant to be there.
One evening, I was in the kitchen baking peach cobbler with Granny. She insisted I follow her exact recipe, even though I’d made it a dozen times before.
“Now, don’t you dare skimp on the cinnamon,” she scolded, wagging a finger at me.
“Yes, ma’am,” I replied with a grin.
The next day, my mom organized a BBQ, and the whole family came over. My younger cousins adored Paige, dragging her into games of tag and basketball in the driveway.
“Paige! Paige! Show us your moves!” my cousin Jackson, an aspiring point guard, begged.
Paige laughed and spun the ball on her finger. “Alright, but only if y’all promise not to dunk on me later.”
The kids screamed in delight as Paige ran drills with them, pretending to stumble whenever they “crossed” her over. Watching her interact with my family made my chest feel tight in the best way.
That night, Granny and I sat on the porch swing, the crickets chirping softly in the background.
“You’ve got a good one there,” she said, nodding toward the house where Paige was laughing with my mom.
“She’s not mine, Granny,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Granny gave me a knowing look. “Not yet, maybe. But the way she looks at you, and the way you talk about her? It’s only a matter of time.”
I bit my lip, unsure how to respond.
Granny patted my hand. “Don’t let fear keep you from happiness, baby. You deserve it.”
Paige’s POV
As Y/N and Granny talked on the porch, I found myself in the kitchen with her mom, helping clean up after the BBQ.
“So, what’s Y/N’s favorite thing to do on a night out?” I asked, trying to sound casual.
Her mom raised an eyebrow. “Planning something, are we?”
“Maybe,” I said with a smirk.
Her mom’s face softened. “She loves sunsets, anything strawberry-flavored, and quiet places where she can think. But honestly, she’ll love anything you do, as long as it’s with her. Also something about the water calms her. And if you want to impress her, take her to special place that no one knows about.”
I nodded, filing the information away. “Thanks, Mrs. Y/L/N.”
“Call me Mom,” she said with a smile.
I smiled, filing away the information. “Thank you.”
“Just take care of her,” she said, her tone serious now. “She’s been through a lot, and she deserves someone who will treat her right.”
“I will, momma” I promised.
Y/n Pov
The week flew by, and soon it was time to head back to Connecticut. At the airport, Paige noticed me shivering and draped her UConn warm-up jacket over my shoulders.
“You didn’t pack warm clothes, did you?” she teased.
“I didn’t think I’d need them,” I replied, clutching the jacket tightly.
As we walked through the terminal, I noticed a few fans snapping pictures. By the time we boarded the plane, Twitter was already buzzing.
At the next practice, Coach Geno wasted no time teasing us.
“Look at the lovebirds, back from their honeymoon,” he said with a grin.
“Not you too, Coach,” I groaned, my cheeks heating up.
Paige just laughed, nudging me with her elbow. “You know they won’t let this go, right?”
“I know,” I muttered.
The teasing didn’t stop there. During warm-ups at the next game, Paige convinced me to let her work the camera.
“Just point and shoot,” I said, handing it to her.
“You act like I’ve never held a camera before,” she said, rolling her eyes.
She ended up taking surprisingly good shots, though she couldn’t resist turning the camera on me a few times.
“Smile, Y/N!” she called, snapping a photo of me blushing.
After the game, a reporter asked Paige about our relationship during a post-game interview.
“Paige, there have been rumors about you and Y/N. Care to comment?”
Paige’s smile didn’t falter, but I could see the tension in her jaw. “Y/N’s a good friend and an incredible photographer. That’s all there is to it.”
The answer stung, but I understood why she said it.
Later that night, as we reviewed footage together, Paige leaned closer and whispered, “I didn’t mean it like that.”
“I know,” I said, my voice soft.
The truth hung between us, unspoken but understood.

July 2025 — Hartford, Connecticut
“Nuh uh! I’m standing next to Boogers, she was my senior!”
“She was everyone’s senior, she was here for too damn long.” Sarah responds, making the bunch of my former teammates laugh.
I don’t even bother to fight back. I didn’t realize how much I’d miss these girls until I was across the country. Connecticut has become home to me, five years of lessons and friendships that I’ll hold into forever. It’s my first time back in Connecticut since the national championship, and the feeling is unreal.
The amount of UConn jerseys is unreal, cheers each time I checked in, after every shot. It became normal to me, loudest crowds in LA, then Minnesota, and now Connecticut. My third home.
We all stand at center court at Mohegan Sun, all of my former teammates excluding Aubrey who’s in New York and Kaitlyn who’s in San Francisco.
We take the picture and everyone disperses, breaking into a multitude of conversations.
“So, we going out tonight? Like old times?” Ice is beaming at me, a smile fitting her face as she tugs me down with an arm around my neck.
I chuckle. “I’m too damn old to be showing up at Ted’s again.” I mutter. My shoes squeak against the hardwood with each step I take to get out of her hold.
“No, not Ted’s, a different— that doesn’t matter. You coming? Please?”
I nod, tugging on the gatorade towel that accumulates the sweat around my neck. “Cam’s coming too.”
“Perfect! The more the merrier.”
—
The more the merrier was right.
The club was loud and fucking packed, from athletes to college kids, anyone that you could imagine. My leg bounces along to the music playing while Allie and Azzi talk about God knows what a few feet in front of me. The beer I’m drinking glides down my throat while I look around.
“This place is jumpin’.” I murmur to Caroline next to me.
She nods, the hair that frames her face swinging over her shoulder as she looks at me. “I know. Maybe you can get some play tonight.”
“You think I’m not gettin’ any in LA?” I laugh, taking another swig.
“I know you’re not getting any. I have my sources.”
I roll my eyes, spinning back around in my bar stool for another drink.
There was definitely enough alcohol in my system. Tequila burning in my chest and a couple beers downed as well. I’m well beyond thinking straight, which to me is fine since we don’t play again for another two days.
“Lemme get a dirty shirley.” I tell the nice bartender who’s probably cringing at my alcohol breath.
“Can I get one of those too? And two shots of vanilla crown, please?”
The voice literally makes me freeze.
I know it well, so well, that I’m not even surprised when I look to my right and Nyla sits there with a smile towards the bartender. I haven’t seen her in what feels like years, even if the last time was in Tampa during the tourney.
She looks good. I mean, she always does. It’s why I let her walk all over me for so long. Why I kept going back no matter how much it hurt.
Nyla wears a blue corset top, it contrasts beautifully with her brown skin and cups her breasts in a way that drags my eyes down to them. Sober, I wouldn’t have paid her any mind. But right now my head is spinning and I can’t help it.
“Good to see you.” She feeds me a tight lipped smile.
I look over my shoulder at Caroline, who is no longer paying any attention to me.
“You look good, Ny.” I say through squinted eyes.
The bartender slides my drink to me over the table, her’s as well. And when Nyla picks up her drink, and her lips purse around the small black straw, my mind immediately goes to Maraye.
I haven’t thought about her in a while, not since she left my apartment. Yet, the second I look at Nyla I think of her. The way her hands, done up with pretty french tips, would wrap around the glass cup. Or the way she smiled at me when I bought her a drink that night in Atlanta.
I turn away, feeling the wood of the bar dug into my back as I watch Allie, and now Cameron and Caroline. They’re inebriated, definitely more than me, and dancing freely to Teenage Dream by Katy Perry.
“You don’t wanna talk?”
“What’s there to talk about, Nyla.” The statement navigates through the air, and the second it reaches her ears she huffs.
“You’ve never been good at talking about things.” Nyla laughs.
I’m quick to scoff and take another hefty gulp of my shirley. “I’ve always been good at that. You just don’t seem to listen to me.”
We sit in an uncomfortable silence, her heal taps against the tiled floor in a rhythm I wish would stop.
“We should talk, P. About Tampa, about everything. You ghosted me the morning after.”
“And you ghosted me after I told you I had feelings for you.” I returned. “It was forever ago, Nyla. Move on.”
I see her down one of her shots before slamming the small glass down on the counter. She takes in a sharp breath of air, swiveling in her chair to look at me. Nyla’s upset.
So many months of me getting angry, then realizing how badly I need her, then going right back. Countless times spent having sex with her rather than realizing how much I was letting myself go by just being around her.
She ruined me, and now that I’m not falling for it, she’s upset.
“Why’re you being such an ass about this?” She yells, the music drowns out the noise but I can still make out the bass in her voice. “It’s that bitch in LA, huh? That’s why you can’t talk to me?”
“Watch your fucking mouth.” I snap almost instantly.
It’s too often that I forget that Maraye and I aren’t the only two people in the world. That everyone around us still sees the way we look at each other or act around one another.
We co-exist with everyone else. They are also affected by the shit we do. The things we say.
The way we kiss each other.
“Oh so she is your girlfriend?”
“You’on’t get to be mad about shit. I’m setting boundaries with you.” I say, refusing to bring Raye’s name up again and make things worse. I care about Maraye, obviously, and if I had to hear a girl who literally ripped my heart out of my chest and stomped on it repeatedly call her out of her name again, I might get suspended.
I finish what’s left of my vodka filled drink, mouth tasting of grenadine and tingling faintly from the sprite.
“I want you, P. Y’know that.” Nyla hums. She’s so damn sadistic. She knows the exact way to get under my skin all the while turning my brain to mush for her.
“No you don’t.” I scoff. “You don’t know what you want, Ny. That’s why I ended all this shit.”
This conversation is entirely reminiscent of the one I had with Raye earlier this week. Which makes me think that she didn’t do anything about the pressing Julian-situation.
Then I’m getting angry all over again. Pissed off that not only is the girl that I want is probably at home pillow talking her boyfriend, but that the girl I once was fucking helpless over is sitting in front of me telling me everything I want to hear from her. Not her–Nyla, her–Maraye.
Even though I have on shorts and t-shirt, my body still feels like I’m on fire as if I was wearing a full snow suit. The alcohol and combined anger has my brain running in laps, from Maraye to Nyla to the fucking flight I have to be on time for in the morning.
And it’s hard to keep it all intact with the way Nyla fucking looks at me. Like she hates me but there’s still a glint in her eye that reminds me of the first time we met. When I saw her in the stands sophomore year, her hair was short and brown with blonde streaks. She was everything then.
“Paige.”
“No, Nyla.”
But now, I don't even recognize her. Her voice sounds like a fever dream, or a fragment of my imagination.
“I can fix this.”
Her hand rests on my knee. I should jump or push her away but I just stare at it like an idiot.
My legs spread apart subconsciously, welcoming her between them. And I am an idiot, allowing her to stand in this place that I have decided belongs to Maraye.
“Lemme fix it, P. Like old times.”
We’re at eye level like this. Her hand trailing up my thigh and to my shoulder. I need to push her away. Tell her to get off me, and then head back to the hotel. By myself.
But I can’t.
For whatever damn reason. I can’t.

July 2025 — Los Angeles, California
I rock awkwardly on my heels, bottom lip tucked between my teeth so tight it might bleed.
My heart beats rapidly in my chest while I wait for the door to swing open. I can hear the hum of the air conditioning system blow through the hallway and the sound of my breaths coming out heavy and ragged.
The lock click echos when the door finally does pull open and there he stands. Hand stuffed in the pocket of his black dress pants.
It’s crazy, that just months ago I was head over heels over this man. The sight of him like this would’ve sent me into orbit, but now it’s like he’s just here. Just another person in my world.
“We need to talk.” I stutter, eyes glued to him.
“Yeah.” Julian responds, turning around and walking into his apartment. He doesn’t close the door, leaving it open for me to follow him, I do so not forgetting to lock it behind me.
“This needa be quick. I got a meeting.” He murmurs as we approach his bedroom.
I haven’t been here in forever, and that’s totally and completely my own fault. I’ve been so damn avoidant. Sure I was always working, but I made time in my day to go see Paige or Rickea or my sister. But with Julian I just chose not to.
“That’s fine.” I say. “We uh, Ion think this is working, Ju.”
He hums, nodding and throwing on a button up shirt over his wife beater shirt.
I don’t even think he’s surprised, more content with the result. Like he expected this the second I rang his doorbell. Maybe even earlier than that.
“Damn.” It’s not a disappointing damn, quite the opposite actually.
“I’m sorry. I just— I can’t give you what you want. We’re one opposite ends of life right now, and I don’t wanna hurt you. Really.”
I don’t know how much is the truth and how much is meant to be a lie to get him to not talk about our last argument. I know I can’t give him what he needs, it’s not because of my alleged time management struggles.
My heart wasn’t in it. Even if it wasn’t for Paige, I’d be calling it quits because I’m not into him the way I should be. She taught me that. The lengths I’d go to for someone I had feelings for, I simply don’t think I could do for him.
“That’s it? Y’just can’t make time for me?”
I huff at the undertone of his voice.
“Nah, this isn’t me arguing. You really think that?”
I nod. “Among other things, yes.” I can’t look at him. Because even though I think he doesn’t, Julian knows me well. He knows my tells and the way I react under pressure. “You deserve better than me, Julian.”
His cologne burns through the air when he sprits it out across his skin. I’m sure that the second I leave, that damned scent would be ingrained into my mind forever, I’d never forget it.
“And this has nothing to do with her?”
Julian doesn’t look away from me for a second, staring holes into my soul that make me feel naked. My hands sweat, and I stuff them in the back pockets of my jeans.
I’d be dumb to stand here and keep lying. I’m already an idiot for thinking that everything would be peaches and cream after this. So I take a breath of air, which basically confirms any doubts Julian has running in his head.
“I— Ju.”
“I fuckin’ knew it. You sleepin’ with her?”
“No. No, Ju. She just— it’s so easy to be myself around her, and I feel like I'm always fighting to be myself with you.” I explain, partially trying to save my ass. “I dunno.”
“So that’s it. You cheat on me and think shit just gonna work out with her?”
“All I can control is this. We aren’t working, so we’re breaking up. That’s it, Julian.” I say, fully aware of how disgusted he looks with me right now.
Never in a million years did I think this shit could happen to me. I’m so conflicted, I don’t deserve whatever happy ending may come with Paige. I don’t deserve his forgiveness either, that’s for damn sure.
“Whatever.” Julian shrugs, walking out of the room with his shoes in hand. I follow behind him, trying to meditate the situation any way I can. It doesn’t work, as I expected.
He trots to the door, unlocking it again and pulling it open. He stands in the doorway, looking at me expectantly. His height looms over me as he waits.
Words form on my tongue and instantly die there. I shut my mouth, slipping through the corridor and hearing it slam behind me.
And for a brief second, I feel good. Like everything is going the way it’s supposed to.
Then the reality of it all hits me, and I feel like I want to run into a wall.
—
July 2025 — Hartford, Connecticut
My heartbeat rings in my ears while I make an attempt to catch my breath.
Nyla lays next to me, sweaty and naked, and months ago I would’ve been completely enamored by the sight. But now I’m just fucking disgusted.
She’s gorgeous, always has been. That’s not the issue.
The issue is her lips don’t taste like that vanilla sweet cream I would always taste after being with Raye. It’s almost bitter, just pure alcohol.
I eagerly throw my legs off the side of the bed. We’re at her apartment, not too far from my hotel. I feel her stare into my back, piercing through me and suddenly I’m well aware of my own nakedness. I toss my bra followed by my shirt over my head before picking up my boxers and putting them on too. The bed shifts, dipping slightly before I feel her hand on my arms.
The events of the last hour have sobered me up tremendously, her hands that once were burning hot to the touch are suddenly freezing. Almost dead.
“Where you goin’?” Nyla asks. Her voice is raspy from the screaming of my name. It should make me feel good, as it always seems to no matter who I’m with.
This time it doesn’t.
I shrug her off of me standing up from the bed and searching for the rest of my clothes. My shorts, socks, shoes all scattered somewhere. I threw the hair tie that kept my hair in a ponytail somewhere too, and Nyla was definitely crazy enough to use it to make a clone of myself.
“Paige, I said—”
“I heard what you said. I’m getttin’ the fuck outta here.”
“You’re not doing this shit again.” She grumbles, pulling on her panties and trying to chase after me. Nyla grabs my arm as she spins me around, looking up at me while I stare up at the ceiling in an attempt to avoid her tits in my face.
“This was a mistake.” I explain, pushing her off of me and finally putting on my shorts. My shoes follow. “You and me are fuckin’ done. Ion know how many times I gotta say that for it to click in your damn head.”
“‘Cause you say shit like that and then come crawling right back!” She’s yelling now, and I can only imagine how irritated her neighbors have become with us. “You wanna act like you didn’t just fuck me? Or that you didn’t tell me you missed me.”
“I’m fucking drunk! That’s the only reason why I do any of this shit with you.” I yell, back. “Ion want shit to do with you, Nyla. I’m moving on.”
“Moving onto that ho, in LA? Is she better than me?”
“You got one more fuckin’ time to—” I cut myself off with a heavy breath, shaking my head and grabbing the rest of my belongings off her nightstand. “Get over it. We’re done. This is never, and I mean never, fuckin’ happening again.” I muse. I’m quick to rush out of the apartment, phone in hand, while I shut the door.
I feel dirty. Like I just committed a fucking felony and was on the run.
The cool air finally hits me like a breath of fresh air when I finally touch the streets. My hotel wasn’t far, a block, maybe more, away.
I’m ashamed of myself, for going back to Nyla and falling for her dumbass words as if they meant something. They never did.
Then it hits me.
Maraye.
I nearly stop in the middle of the street before picking up my pace and walking into the hotel building.
God knows what decision she’s made. She could be with Julian right now telling him everything he wants to hear. Or she could be waiting for me. To call her, to text her, to tell her that I miss her.
And believe it or not, I do. I fucking miss her crazy. Her voice and those gorgeous fucking eyes. The way she listens to me like I’m the only person left on Earth, like it’s just me and her. I miss her smell, the Chanel no.5 combined with some vanilla body spray that she almost always seemed to have on, that permanently left its mark on my nose and my soul. Everything about her being, I miss it like crazy.
I’m in the elevator, the hum of the gears and the corny ass elevator music that plays only leaves me with my thoughts. Feelings of disparity and fucking anger.
How could I be so stupid. All it took was a few drinks and a fucking glare and now I’ve made arguably the biggest mistake of my life.
My phone starts ringing when I pull out my key card. I stand in the hallway, flipping the device over and staring at it.
Her name, in bright and bold font with the anatomical heart emoji next to it. It’s so intimate, an emoji that I think I’ve only ever used in correspondence with her. The picture is recent, I changed it after she left my place that night. It’s the two of us seated on my couch, her head resting on my shoulder with her lips in that cute pout she does in almost all her photos. My eyes are red from sleep but I still keep a nose-scrunched smile on my face.
I catch myself just standing there, looking at her looking at me until the call goes to voicemail.
I’m glad that it does, because I know that if I were to pick up the phone and hear her voice as she talks I might break down.
I unlock the door, kicking my shoes off the minute the door closes. I rest my back against it, head tossed onto the white painted portal.
Then my phone buzzes again.
i miss you. call me in the morning k?
I fucked up. Fucked it all up.

WIP excerpt behind the cut; "Tim's free cloning lab". (( chrono || non-chrono ))
“Red Robin’s commitment issues are his own problem, not mine. I’ve got a schedule to keep,” Luthor replies dismissively, then knocks back the last of his hopefully-actually-a-protein-shake-and-not-Bane-venom-or-something and gets to his feet, picking up his tablet again as he does. He does not seem concerned to be alone in a lab full of sharp objects and computers with two only negligibly-restrained Bats. Admittedly Luthor doesn’t tend to seem concerned during literal multiversal apocalypses, but Tim is vaguely insulted on principle. A multiversal apocalypse couldn’t do any worse than uncreate Luthor and everything he’s ever done in his life, after all. He could tank his stock prices and drive up all his insurance rates, and then make him have to live with it.
A little respect isn’t that much to ask, is it?
“Wow, called out by the supervillain,” Steph mutters to him under her breath. “The Metropolis supervillain, even.”
“I do not have commitment issues,” Tim mutters back to her.
“Yes you do, the issue is you commit yourself to somebody and then become an insane person about them but never actually mention the existence of said commitment to them,” she retorts frankly.
“I do not–”
“When did you go for the red and black suit again and how long did you stick with it?”
“. . . we’re in a supervillain lair in Connecticut, I don’t have to answer that right now.”
“Oh, so you will later?”
“So anyway, new supervillain trap, how’s that going for you?” Tim asks Luthor. Steph snorts at him; he ignores her and all her baseless, ridiculous, baseless accusations that are definitely not currently reading him for absolute filth. “All coming together nicely, no tech issues? Because we could troubleshoot those for you while we’re waiting for extraction, no charge.”
“The chemical breakdown of the necessary stabilizer you missed when you were cleaning out my old labs is laid out in file B-2.13, speaking of ‘troubleshooting’,” Luthor mentions, and Tim . . . pauses.
“‘Stabilizer’,” he echoes carefully, and then glances around the sunroom lab. The sunroom cloning lab.
The sunroom.
Ah.
That is probably a connection he should've made, like . . . literally instantly, yeah.
“Oh my god, do you think you can actually convince Red Robin to make you another–wait, why do you even want Red Robin to make you another Superman or whatever, you did it better than he ever did,” Steph says, squinting in bewilderment at Luthor through her mask. Tim’s much more insulted this time, even if it’s objectively true that Kon is objectively–never mind. Luthor just looks dubious.
“I don’t want another Superman, there are already far too many of those running around and being an issue as it is,” he snorts dismissively, waving her off. “And I’m willing to provide a useful little resource or two, of course, but it’s hardly traditional to have to make my own grandchildren, now is it. Besides, Supernova won’t be as annoyed about it if they come from you. Though I did include some potential design notes for your consideration in the C folder, of course. Streamlined the tactile telekinesis a bit, for starters. It really didn’t come out as effective as intended, unfortunately.”
“Of course,” Tim echoes, perfectly aware of that one time that Kon took apart every single gun inside the exact city limits of Los Angeles and nothing else without even meaning to, and also that one time last week when he very much did mean to disassemble a bomb immediately after its trigger mechanism had been tripped, and did it so fast that it didn't detonate.
So as politely as possible, that makes Luthor’s use of the word “effective” slipped in there a little mind-numbingly terrifying to consider.
More than anything else, though, Tim really hopes that he’s just gone insane and hallucinated all this, because otherwise he’s going to have to write all this down in a report, and Steph will not lie for him about this one.
Case in point: she is currently laughing her fucking ass off at him.

Propaganda
Barbara Stanwyck (Ball of Fire, The Lady Eve, Double Indemnity)—I hope someone else has submitted better propaganda than I because I don't want my girl's prospects to rest on me just yelling PLEASE VOTE FOR MY TERRIBLE HOT GIRLFRIEND. She is a delight in everything! She is often a sexy jerk! (It's most of the plot of Baby Face!) Even when she plays a "good girl" (as an example, Christmas in Connecticut, which more people should see) she's still kind of a jerk and I love her for it! She won't take men's shit and she sure wouldn't take mine!
Mae Clarke (The Public Enemy, Frankenstein)—she was in frankenstein. which i think is neat
This is round 1 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]

Barbara Stanwyck propaganda:
"THE queen of screwball comedies. I adore her, I'd kill for her, I will cry if she's not gonna win this poll."
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/52b7742cc4caa60670fed8b9cf7d7c8a/84b02802af150fcd-b8/s540x810/ac89bfff99da92edcb10e57e74ae19df5330c227.jpg)
"listen ok she had awful politics she was a mccarthyist right wing wacko BUT she's so incredibly hot that i've deluded myself into believing i could fix her. if you see her onscreen she carries herself in a way that's just so effortlessly sexy AND she has just a stunning face. imo she was at her hottest in the 1940s but even as early as the late 1920s she had a rly captivating screen presence and just a beautiful face, and then post-1950 she was just irresistibly milfy so really she was just always incredibly hot. she was also an incredibly talented actress who was equally stellar in melodrama, film noir, and unhinged screwball comedy. the blonde wig they made her wear in double indemnity is notoriously silly looking but she still looks sexy in it so that's gotta count for something. i've watched so many terrible movies just for a chance at seeing her that i think her estate should be paying me damages."
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a2776a92decbd4ed541cc4ddf4625c62/84b02802af150fcd-b8/s540x810/cdde37eba2ed2dd7bee8fa4bd724cd3983909b10.jpg)
"Not often thought of for her sultriness, Barbara Stanwyck was incredible in that she could actually choose to be hot if the role called for it, and then have a glow-down to look ordinary for another role. She wasn't the most beautiful or effervescent, but damn did she have rizz. Watch her with Gary Cooper in Ball of Fire teaching him about "yum-yum" or with Henry Fonda in The Lady Eve whispering huskily into his ear."
youtube
"THE leading lady of the golden age of hollywood. One of the only actresses to work independent of a studio, making short-term contracts that enabled her to make movies wherever she wanted. She had so much range, and could act in basically any genre. She's been rumored to be a lesbian literally since she was active in Hollywood; most notable is the rumor that she had a long time on-and-off relationship with famously bi Joan Crawford, her "best friend" for decades (They lived right next door to one another). She also lived with Helen Ferguson, her "live-in publicist" for many years. She was the quintessential femme fatale in Double Indemnity, and really pushed sexual boundaries in her pre-code films like Baby Face, and the famous screwball The Lady Eve, where she plays basically a downlow domme. Allegedly, when a journalist asked her if she was a lesbian, she straight up threw him out of her house. She even played a lesbian in Walk on the Wild Side"
"She is always the smartest woman in the room. Watching her play Henry Fonda like a befuddled fiddle in The Lady Eve was a highlight of my life. Femme fatale in Double Indemnity, comedy queen in Ball of Fire. She can do anything."
"She was part of my gay awakening"

"SHE'S A PRE-CODE QUEEN. She did everything, drama, comedy. The most beautiful woman in the world to watch weep. Beg for to step on you with those legs. Fun Babs story: Ginger Rogers was offered the role in Ball of Fire but said, “Oh, I would never play that part, she’s too common.” So they called Barbara Stanwyck and they said “We offered this to Ginger Rogers but she’s turned it down, would you be interested?” And she read the script and she said; “You bet! I LOVE playing common broads.” (Source: https://misstanwyck.tumblr.com/post/72996544180/barbara-stanwyck-photographed-for-ball-of-fire)"

"I'm gonna miss you Ko." I said as I sat in between Imani and Dakota. This was mines and Imani last 2 weeks in New York before we moved to Florida. We made plans with Dakota to take little mini weekend trips to fox woods Casino up in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
"I'm gonna miss yall too." She said pouting.
"Y'all stop all that pouting shit let's go dance I see some fine ass niggas on that dance floor." Imani said as she stood up pulling us out our seats and on to the dance floor.
We were on the dance for about 30mins before we decided to go back to section and sat down for another round of drinks and a smoke session.
"Oh my god yall look who's calling." Ko said showing us her phone as my brother contact name flashed on her screen. I took her phone and answered it.
"Wheres DaKota?" He asked. "Don't worry about her she enjoying herself with her friends." I said hanging up on him before he could speak again.
"Girl you gonna get me in trouble doing all that on my phone." She said as she took it back. I rolled my eyes. "Girl please we're two hours away."
"Right Ko relax we took this trip for a reason." Imani said passing me the blunt. I grabbed it taking a hit out of it. I hit it a few more times before passing it back to Imani since Ko doesn't smoke.
After spending another hour out we decided to call it a night and got back to our hotel. We reached our room and got settled in for the night ordering room service. We all took a shower and watched a movie while we ate to call it a night.
The next morning a came along and we were just checking out and bring out bags to the car. We all had fun on our little weekend getaway but now it was time to get back home so me and Imani could finishing packing up the rest of our things. The ride was on 2 hour drive so we weren't on the road for that long I dropped Imani off at her place first then me and Ko headed to my mom's house.
"CECE!" Selena yelled running up to me as we walked into the door. I picked her up hugging her tight then my twin nieces came up to us hugging their mom first.
"Auntie Cece look my tooth came out." Brielle said smiling showing me her missing tooth.
"Oh my goodness your becoming a big girl now." I said picking her up. I walked to the kitchen seeing my mom. "Hey mom." I said.
"Hey yall back how was the trip?" She asked.
"It definitely needed we had fun." I tell her putting bri down. "Whatchu cooking?" I asked:
"Chicken pasta with garlic bread you want a plate?" She asked.
"Please I am hungry." I said just as Saint walks in the kitchen. "Hey big brother." I said.
"Hey big head you finally returning my wife back?" He asked. I played rolled my eyes and nodded my head.
"Here baby girl." Mom said handing me my plate. "Thank you mom." I said taking plate to the dinning room I sat down at the table and ate my food. After I ate I went upstairs to my room and took a shower then after I started to finish packing my room up.

It's been a month and we have officially moved into our new apartment. We just got back from grocery shopping. After the first week of being out groceries. We had been eating out all week.
"Now we talking now this apartment is starting to get come together." Imani said closing the cabinet after filling it up with the groceries while I finished filling the refrigerator up. I laughed closing the door and took a water to full fill my thirst. After we everything was away we both a took a shower then relaxed on the couch.

Getting up from the couch. My dogs were all braking after someone ringing the doorbell. I walked up to the front door turning my back to the door as I looked at the dogs they all stopped barking and sat down but still very concerned at who was at the door. I opened the door seeing my new Assistant standing there.
"Mr.Fatu right?" She asked as she pushed her glasses up her nose. "I'm Sierra your new assistant." She said sticking her hand out.
"Joshua. How you doing next to meet you." I said shaking her hand then let her in. "I'm good how are you." She said. She looked around admiring my place as I shut and locked the door. My dogs running over to her jumping up and down around trying to get her attention which they won.
"Oh my gosh y'all the cutest." She said as got low giving the 3 them of a little of attention. "Sorry I'm a big lover for a dogs." She said as she stood back up turning to me.
"Nah you good don't even worry about it." I said.
"You have a beautiful place Mr.Fatu." She said.
"Thanks I can show you around real quick." I said as I began walking I heard her following behind me. "If you wanna put your things down in the kitchen you can."
She placed her things down and I started showing her around which probably took a quick 5 mins then we sat down in the living room. I explained to her what her job was as assistant.
"Your job is pretty simple I don't expect you be by my side 24/7 so most of things I need done can really be done at home, all I need you do is literally just schedule my meets, and any events I have coming up, manage my emails, answering phone calls, making travel arrangements, preparing documents just me help keep things organized." I tell her.
"Oh yea that's easy work." She said.
"Great I'll send you all my information so you can do your thing. You look like a hard worker." I said making her blush she tried to hide her face but failed.
"Thank you." She said just loud enough for me to hear. Before I could say anything else I heard my son jeyvon walk downstairs.
"Sup son you done with your homework?" I asked.
"Nah I actually need help with this math problem." He said.
"Let me see." I said he handed me his homework read the problem. "I'm not gonna lie it's been a little minute since I had to do this kinda work. You know how to do this?" I asked turning to Sierra.
"You said it's math?" She asked Jeyvon nods his head.
"Oh Von this Sierra my new Assistant. Sierra this my youngest son Jeyvon, my other son barely home." I said.
"Nice to meet you." She said.
"Say to you." Jeyvon said.
"Okay you ever heard of the saying please excuse my dear aunt sally." Jeyvon shook his head no. "Well listen up cuz it's gonna help you with all these problems." She said and began explaining to him how to do is homework. I watched them as she helped do one then they did one together and she let him do the last 2 on his own.
I think I made a good choice getting a assistant that not only helps me but my son too.
Hey gurls. I hope you enjoyed so sorry for the very long wait and for any mistakes I just be second guessing my writing so I be rewriting everything over like 20plus times it's bad but imma try and get better at that so please bear with me I am not ghost yall.

me: I should really figure out what the actual plot line of my ct lives au is so it can be a cohesive story instead of a bunch of random vaguely connected events (that also aren't properly fleshed out)
also me: what if I wrote part of ct's psych evaluation for pfl in the style of the washed hands interview that may or may not ever be revelant because of the above reasons???
[Sound of knocking on a door]
Counselor: Come in.
[Sound of door sliding open]
Counselor: Oh, you're early.
Tays: Sorry, sir. I finished my duties earlier than expected. It's not an issue, is it?
Counselor: No, it's not an issue at all, Reine. May I call you Reine?
[Sounds of chair moving across the floor]
Tays: I prefer Tays.
Counselor: Of course, my apologies. Do you often finish your assignments ahead of schedule?
Tays: I suppose…
Counselor: There is no need for you to feel defensive, Tays. This is not a test.
Tays: Isn't it though? I’m not some stupid kid, I know how your type works. The evaluation started the second I walked in the door.
Counselor: Would you like to elaborate on what you mean by ‘my type’?
Tays: You know what I mean, Counselor. Or should I call you [Audio Redacted].
Counselor: …
Tays: Yeah, that’s what I thought. I know you’re going to drop some bombshell revelation from my past on me at some point in an attempt to catch me off guard, so it’s only fair that I do the same.
Counselor: I see. I will not bother with the pretenses then, though I must say that I do not believe it was a wise decision to reveal your trump card so early in this evaluation,Tays.
Tays: …
[Writing]
[Rustling papers]
Counselor: I see from your body language that you are realizing the mistake you have made. Your personnel file tells me that this is not the first time you have made such a blunder. Let’s talk about the incident at your last post, shall we?
#those who have read the washed hands interview do yall notice something when comparing it to ct's?#i think it's really clever on my part but it's only clever if others notice it lols#rvb#red vs blue#agent connecticut#mine#not t/oaru#ct lives au

What's your favorite holiday movie?
Mine is the Muppet Christmas Carol, we grew up with it and it makes an appearance every year when we all come to my parent's place. The songs pretty much define christmas for me.
(And I guess cause this is a twilight blog, if you want you could also give answers for the Cullens. I bet Edward likes something boring like Christmas in Connecticut)
I both love holiday movies and hate holiday movies. On the one hand, there are some classics I very much enjoy, on the other hand, those classics are played all the damn time and so I see far too much of them.
I don't think I have a particular favorite but these I'd say are in my favorites (or at least immediately coming to mind right this second):
Scrooged
A Christmas Story
Christmas Vacation
Die Hard
Home Alone
It's a Wonderful Life
This one is on my most hated list:
Love, Actually

Welcome to the chapter 11 of Through The Lens. I hope you all enjoy and there is more to come...stay tuned my loveies!! 🏀💕📸
Y/N’s POV
The bus ride back from the gym to the airport was quiet—almost too quiet. I could hear the rhythmic hum of the tires on the road, the soft clinking of water bottles, and the faint whispers of my teammates as they wound down from the adrenaline rush of the game. Paige was asleep next to me, her head resting against the window, her breath steady and slow. Her hand was just inches away from mine, but I didn’t dare reach for it.
I didn’t know how to feel.
The game had been incredible—Paige had played like an absolute beast, and the team had won. But all I could think about were the comments and videos that kept popping up on my phone.
TikTok.
I hadn’t even meant to check it, but a notification had buzzed in my hand. Curious, I tapped the screen and scrolled through the videos of the game highlights. Then, there it was—the video of Paige and me leaving the airport together. The one where I was wearing her UConn warm-up jacket, and she had her Nike tech on.
The caption read: “Paige and her girl? Or just best friends?”
I clicked into the comments, and my stomach dropped.
“She’s not even her type. She deserves someone like Azzi, not her.”
“I’d rather see Paige and Azzi than this girl, sorry not sorry.”
“They shouldn't be together if she’s the one always filming her, kinda stalkerish...What’s the deal with them anyway?”
My hand trembled as I set the phone down, the screen dimming in front of me. My stomach twisted with a painful knot, my chest constricting as the weight of the words settled on me.
I glanced at Paige again, her peaceful expression making it harder to deal with my own turmoil. She didn’t deserve any of this. She didn’t deserve to be associated with me in the way those people seemed to think.
I leaned back in my seat, closing my eyes, but the restlessness wouldn’t go away. I couldn’t sleep. I felt too anxious, too tight in my own skin.
Paige’s POV
I woke up a few hours later, the bus nearing Connecticut. I rubbed my eyes and stretched, glancing over at Y/N. She was still awake, eyes glued to her phone, the soft glow of the screen reflecting off her face, and her recently bought blue light glasses.
“Everything okay?” I asked quietly.
She looked up at me with a forced smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes. “Yeah, just editing.”
I frowned, but didn’t press further. She’d always been quiet when she was upset, but I figured she’d talk to me eventually.
Y/N’s POV
I stayed quiet the rest of the ride, my mind running a mile a minute. I couldn’t shake the feeling that something had changed. That somehow, everything I had with Paige had shifted.
When we finally arrived back on campus, I didn’t feel any relief. I was physically exhausted, but emotionally drained. I spent the night in Paige’s dorm, but even there, I felt a distance between us that I couldn’t explain. She didn’t push me, and I appreciated that, but I couldn’t bring myself to reach out to her. I couldn’t pretend that things were the same when my mind was so heavy.
The next few days were worse. At practice, during games, it felt like there was an invisible wall between us. Every time Paige came near me, I stepped back. Every time she tried to touch my shoulder, or give me a quick hug after a good play, I flinched. I didn’t mean to—hell, I didn’t even want to—but the anxiety in my chest made it impossible to be close to her.
I was suffocating in my own silence, and I hated myself for it.
Paige’s POV
It had been days, and the distance between Y/N and me had only grown. She was avoiding me in the worst way. She wasn’t talking to me, wasn’t making eye contact, and every time I tried to get close, she stepped away. I felt her pulling away, and it broke my heart.
Finally, after a grueling practice the day before a home game, I couldn’t take it anymore.
“Y/N, we need to talk.”
She froze, her hands gripping the strap of her camera bag. “What’s there to talk about?”
I stared at her, trying to read her. She wasn’t meeting my eyes, and the coldness in her voice stung. “This isn’t you. What’s going on? We’re not good, and I don’t know why.”
“I’m fine,” she said quickly, avoiding my gaze. “It’s nothing.”
“Don’t lie to me,” I pressed, stepping closer. “We’re a team, Y/N. I know something’s wrong.”
She finally looked at me, her eyes full of frustration. “You don’t get it, Paige. I’m not good enough for you. You’re this… amazing player, and everyone’s watching you, and I’m just your photographer. Just the girl who follows you around all the time. They don’t see me, they see you. They think you’re with Azzi, and that’s what should be happening. Not this. Not me. Definitely not us.”
I took a step back, the sting of her words sinking in. I never thought she saw herself like that. She wasn’t just my photographer. She was my everything.
“You’re not ‘just’ anything,” I said, my voice breaking. “I don’t care about the people on the internet or what they say. I care about you. I care about us.”
Her eyes softened, but she looked away. “I don’t know if I can handle the pressure, Paige. You deserve someone who fits in with your life. I’m just causing trouble.”
“Y/N,” I said, taking her hands in mine. “I don’t care what anyone says, and I sure as hell don’t care about fitting into some mold. I care about you. I’m not letting you push me away.”
Y/n’s POV
I opened my dorm room door to a phone call from my grandmother. I hadn’t heard from her in a few days, and I could tell by her tone that something was wrong.
“Paige’s been texting me all night,” my granny said in a matter-of-fact tone. “You need to talk to that girl, Y/N. You’re both so stubborn, but you need to fix this before it gets worse. I can’t have my granddaughter hurting like this.”
I felt tears well up in my eyes as I listened to her, but I couldn’t find the right words.
“She’s good for you, Y/N. Don’t let fear tear you apart. You can’t keep running from the love you both have. It’ll only break you in the end.”
I knew she was right.
Paige’s POV
I didn’t hear from Y/N for the rest of the day, but that night, after my team’s practice, I called her grandmother back.
“Paige, honey, you’re a good girl. You’ve got to be strong for Y/N. I know you two are struggling, but if you love her, you fight for her. I know she’s too proud to admit it, but she needs you.”
“I will,” I promised, my voice thick with emotion. “I’m not giving up on her. Not now, not ever.”

Nobody cares that I'm going to annex Connecticut but everybody cares that mod plays Project SEKAI.
There are two takeaways.
#1: I can just roll up and annex Connecticut with no opposition whatsoever!!
#2: Mod sucks at Project SEKAI and is going to get top 1000 on Minori's world link chapter in May.
#3: Ichika Hoshino.
#4: This sentance has fore erors.
#6: I do not think, therefore I am not.
#7: SEEKONK IS MINE!!!!!
#5: Did ya notice that there ain't a #8? Well? Did ya did ya did ya???
#9: I thought there were supposed to be only two takeaways???
#10: What am I talking about anymore? What is the purpose of this? Do I have a purpose? Do cats have a purpose? What about dogs? Should I really be thinking about this? What's the point? Am I going to be okay?
#11: HELL YEAH I AM!!
