i think im longing for the timeline where pokemon ruby and sapphire were a brand-new start for the pokemon franchise, featuring no kanto or johto pokemon who would not be brought back in any future installments

#soda offers you a can #ruby and sapphire are dear to me in that sense #you only encounter new pokemon in the early game and even when old ones start popping up they do so remarkably sparingly #i think it would've been great if they had pulled a gen5 but like. as a permanent purge of the old guys #what would have come of it? how would things have changed? would pikachu be dead?#it was still early enough in the lifespan of pokemon they might have been able to get away with something like it
