look. im glad conversations about consent and asking before you do things is becoming more popular. but if you ask your partner if you can kiss them every time even though you trust each other to respect each others boundaries. youre kind of killing romance

#let me go more in depth in the tags #its lovely that we ask before doing for the most part #thats a great thing and for new relationships its good to establish boundaries so no one gets hurt #but. BUT.#if youre two years in and still asking for permission to make romantic gestures #doesnt that seem a little. lacking in positive surprise?#for some people it changes day by day whether they want physical affection or not #and i understand that!#but for the most part. why ask? as long as you respect when they say no and communicate what is and isnt okay #you should be good right?#i think having to rationalize every gesture with like. timetables for when kissing your partner is okay #is a little. unromantic.#personally if i dated someone for even three months and weve set boundaries already #if they had to continuously ask if it was okay id feel a little unlistened to #because weve already talked about it yknow? no need to reestablish #idk #this opinion might just be because im the kind of guy to do surprise affection and gifts #whatever works for you in your relationship is good #but i just feel its more romantic to leave a little surprise in the when and how 👍
