Hey, writers! Have you 🫵 considered writing an April Fools' chapter (or April Fools' story if you prefer oneshots)? It's a fun and harmless prank to play on your editors, beta readers, or anyone you would feel comfortable sharing it with! All you have to do is write a chapter that starts out normal, but soon becomes very definitely not normal in whatever way is funniest to you and/or your reader(s)! Have a side character you previously hadn't even named suddenly become the main protagonist, or perhaps an ultra-powerful villain. Have two random characters start kissing passionately in the middle of a fight or chase scene. Have the characters start spouting lines from your favorite shows, movies, books, etc. Add inside jokes that you love dearly, but wouldn't fit in the finished story. It could be a good writing exercise, and hopefully you and your reader(s) will get a good laugh out of it.
