i think fgo should do a summer event that's primarily ON a cruise ship. i know that this current event has A cruise ship you're riding around on but i think they should do event that's like 90% on the ship itself. and the welfare summer nemo + one of the 5* swimsuit servants can be drake, or vice versa (though im kinda hesitant on nemo bc he's already got the santa alt but shhhh)
#i was gonna say it can be like murder mystery on a cruise ship but a) they already did a horror-themed summer event and b) i was thinking#about an rp i was in ages agofjsdskl#undertowed my belvoed#anyway. i imagine cruise ship fgo event would be structered like#since the summer events are usually a week long then like.#prologue/day 1 is rayshifting/“boarding” the cruise#day 2 is stuff on the ship#day 3+4 can be two different island excursions#day 5 is another cruising day#day 6 another island excursion#n day 7 is on the cruise again to wrap everything up#PLUS THEY CAN do extra little story things of servants hanging out on the ship bc there's totally enough room for every chaldea servant to#fit on a cruise ship#hell they can model it after like icon of the seas and have it have a big ass waterpark on board#or like the disney cruises n have themed areas#i think cruise ships are neat dont look at me#yknow i might as well just cook up a summer event for myself bc this is VERY specific and i doubt it's gonna be happening anytime soon fdkj#is the microphone on can anyone hear m#i lied actually i wouldn't call the ship in the current event a cruise ship but like you get it

If you don’t mind me asking, have you had any ideas on how the other trolls work in the pirate au? I’m not sure how much music would differ between troll types but I would think they each adjusted to the sea in their own way. The techno trolls wouldn’t be too affected since they already live underwater, but the others would.
The rock trolls might be island hoppers, taking small but fast ships between islands.
I could see classical trolls having very large ships with wide masts they can perch on.
And I think it would be neat if the country trolls became more like kelpies, adapting to live in the sea rather than sail across it.
I don’t know if funk would change much. Their spaceship seems like it would keep them pretty safe.
But I digress. Your au is so fun and I adore your art. Have a lovely day :)
I LOVE YOUR IDEA FOR COUNTRY OMG I hope you dont mind if I steal it lol I couldnt think of how they wouldve adapted honestly
I do have a couple of ideas for how the others adapted though :3
Techno doesnt have much of a change other than being the biggest tribe. Looking into the ocean at night you might see colorful lights flickering in and out.
Rock trolls have the most land, they lived on a volcano once hundreds of years ago now that the volcano is underwater it made a bunch of islands for them to live on. They still sail around on ships (Rock World tour CRUISE..)
Funk spaceship
The Classical trolls lived on hills and mountains before, they have the least amount of land as a result they would start building up into the sky with airships. I really like the idea of them also building a bunch of bird house looking structures in the ocean to live in.
During the flood hundreds of years ago the troll tribes were united. In a time of suddenly having to adapt to living on water where they should all be working together the Pop trolls committed their first and biggest act of thievery, stealing the strings for themselves.
This was the beginning of their reign of terror on the sea, they were the most feared troll tribe in the ocean. The leaders of the other troll tribes having enough each agreed to take a string and sail far away. Although this didn’t end their life style as pirates, this was the last of what was known of the pop trolls.

I would personally love to hear you rant about sonic x as I too loved that characterization of him ;w;
There was more than a few episodes of him legit going against the grain and being perceived as “the bad guy” and he didn’t care just cause he thought it was the right thing to do and I friggen LOVE that. I know some games have that characterization as well but it was just neat to that on a show
fair warning my ramblings get off the rails VERY quick get ready for this. its very long
i wanted to wait to answer this till after id watched more of the jp version because id only seen like. the last 3 eps. as much as i love the 4kids cast the original's just. so good man. watch it. i like sonic's personality in both versions but still
k. so
one of my favorite parts of his characterization in the show is how much it embodies his sa1/sa2 theme it doesnt matter.
so uh first thing that comes to mind is how. not self-centered he is. like i dont know where that characterization came from but its all over sonic media (dont get me wrong i still love that personality and think its hilarious. boom!sonic looking at you) but its just not how id describe his character in general
ANYWAYS like you said he literally Does Not care if something is 'good' or 'bad' he just does what he feels is right which is SO COOL for a character like him
like that one section of the show where egggman was making weird moon things for people's yards or something and sonic took one look at that and said Nope. literally everyone else was like bro?? we kinda need that light to live what are you doing?? and once again he Did Not care like he knew something was up and it wasnt good
and honestly i think its the little things about his personality that stand out to me the most. from his love for flowers. to spontaneously deciding to look for a small field of flowers in the mountains in the middle of nowhere becuse he knew cream had been feeling homesick. to random naps on rooftops because he feels like it. that kinda stuff
also he doesnt talk as much as his other characterizations. he figures stuff out silently in his head and you never really know exactly what hes thinking because his brain's moving a mile a minute (real adhd moment there) which is another thing thats not brought up much hes actually really smart? favorite example is the dark sonic episode (you know the one) when cosmo leaves to talk with black narcissus or whatever his name was. nobody knows where she is and everyone starts panicking but sonic's already figured out that she left the ship with the help of chris to get past the security. can we talk about how smart he is more often its one of my favorite characteristics of his
little off topic but theres also an episode of aosth (case of the missing hi-tops or something like that) where hes like a mini sherlock holmes and figures out who stole his shoes how they stole his shoes and why they stole his shoes and its. such a great episode guys please watch it. okok back to sonic x
i forgot what i was gonna say. uhhhhhhhhh oh yeah the race episode
sam sets up a giant race and pulls up to the thorndyke's house with the entire city lined up parade style at like 3am and challenges sonic to a race to which he once again says No and goes back to sleep. he could care less about what the city wants he just. idk man this whole situation is so funny. sonic finishes the race wayyy before sam, poses for the camera, goes back to sam, and finishes the race in an almost-tie i love this episode so much. im getting off topic again
ok i know everyone talks about the helen episode but im gonna talk aboout the helen episode. sonic just casually tells chris he promised one of his classmates he'd take her to an island in the middle of a lake and he Does It. with the entire army following him because he refused to go to a party with the president. how could a better episode be written its perfect
can i talk about cruise blues now. cool so cruise blues is one of my favorite episodes because it completely changes up his character and at the same time keeps it the same but also gives him character development ? that sounds really complicated just bare with me. sonic doesnt like boats. at all. for good reason tho theres no room to run theres water everywhere and also seasickness is a thing. anyways sonic takes the situation really well and decides the only way off this boat other than launching himself off the deck 30 times is to psychologically manipulate everyone on the ship through various means that leave him hanging on for dear life to a pole so amy doesnt smash him to pieces. he learns his lesson after that i think
point is by the end of the episode he learns to relax and its just all in all really chill at the end? he learns he needs to take it slow and rest sometimes and i think its the only ep to actually try to develop sonic's character
idk what else to talk about. ep 26 and the last two eps of s2 are really good but i have no idea how to put them into words
tl;dr: sonic x is good (understatement)
#ever wonder why i draw instead of write skjbfjhb#i get off track very easily nothing is coherent ever#but if you guys want me to ramble more i will write a 5 paragraph essay on sonic's personality in unleashed. watch me#i usually keep my stuff to my notes app but this was very fun actually#sonic x#rambles

Italy, Greece, Turkey, Sicily, Naples, Pompeii. 2016
Since my first trip out of the country after graduating High School, it has become a tradition to go on graduation trips. So when i graduated college with my bachelors degree, i picked out a HUGE trip for my parents to take me on. I always recommend taking a cruise any time you can. Its the most efficient way to travel to several places in a short time. We started with a flight into Rome.
Rome, Italy- We flew into Rome from Nashville. Long flight but nothing like the trip back, ill get to that later. We had a night in Rome before we headed about an hour out to where our cruise would leave. The first day in Rome we got there early so we would have time to site see while we were in the city.We checked into our hotel which was walking distance to everything around. Definitely worth the extra money to be near everything. We did the main things the first day. The Colosseum is fantastic. The best part is how vintage it is and the history behind it. We went inside and i recommend doing that. A tour guide would be helpful to hear some of the history of things that took place at the Colosseum. I had a personal history expert with me, my father. The Trevi fountain is beautiful but it is always slammed packed. It gave me too much anxiety so we made that a short stop. The rest of the day we mostly just walked around the city and enjoyed the environment. We had dinner at a Italian restaurant we happened to be passing. It honestly wasnt anything super special. I expected Italy to have insanely good food but it wasnt much different than you would fine in the states as far as pasta goes.
The next day we took an hour shuttle to the cruise port and were on our way to the biggest trip i had ever been on. It was a 9 day cruise. Our next stop was Messina, Sicily. This port was nice because everything you need is right off the port. We walked around and did some shopping. We stumbled upon this magnificent church named, Duomo. It is not far from the port. It is beautiful with gold statues. I can not remember how often, but maybe every hour or so the statues put on a show and music for the bystandards outside enjoying the church and the fountain outside. I would definitely recommend trying to catch it, it was amazing. We had lunch at a little pizza place right next to the church. One of the best things about Italy is that all the restaurants are basically outside on the cobblestone streets. Youre eating lunch right out in the middle of the city. I love it. The pizza is VERY good. It is much different than “American” pizza. You can taste how fresh and authentic it is. You have to get pizza while youre in Italy. On the way out of the port, the boat goes right past the tip of the boot of Italy. Pretty neat.
The next stop was Kusadasi, Turkey. We were apprehensive about venturing too far into Turkey because of the recent dangers of the country at the time. So we stayed close to the port and still had a great time. There is a ton of shops near the port. Tip: the prices on the merchandise is not USD, and is actually super cheap. We bought a ton of stuff because it was the best place to get cheap souvenirs. They are known for their rugs, but i did not purchase any. The people in the ally of shops are very nerve wracking, however. Much like the straw shops in the Bahamas, they are pushy and rude people. I wouldnt spend too much time there. On the way back to the boat we stopped for some ice cream on the beach right next to the boat. We heard an Islamic Call To Prayer coming from a nearby mosque while on the beach. Something i had never experienced. It was a nice relaxing day in Kusadasi. However, we made a HUGE miss in Turkey. Ephesus. We later talked to many people who had visited the ancient and biblical town of Ephesus and they loved it. Next time.
We headed off to Greece next. First stop was Mykonos, Greece. We did an excursion here, a trip to the beach. A bus picked us up at the port and we headed to the beach. It was beautiful. Not a whole lot to do at the beach but it was a perfect relaxing beach day. The city is gorgeous. You get to drive through it quite a bit to and from the port. After the beach the bus drops you off in the city until time to board the boat. There are tons of shops and restaurants. I loved just walking through the alleys of white buildings and blue window panes. The architecture is just amazing. We came upon several vintage looking windmills. They were neat. I bought a traditional Greek dress here, i love it. I always recommend getting every day clothes from places you visit. Its a neat reminder of your travels and the culture of the country without it being to souveniry.
Next we headed to Santorini, Greece. Santorini was literally number one on my bucket list ever since i was a kid. There is a specific picture of Santorini that is basically the logo of Greece.i. Santorini sits on a huge cliff side. The boat does not actually port in Santorini. It anchors nearby and small shuttle boats take you to the shore. You have a few options for getting to the top to the city. You can take a tram to the top, which is what we did. Its a beautiful scene but the line to get back on the tram and back down to the boat at the end of the day is massively long and takes forever. We almost decided to walk down. You can walk up and down the cliff side but its a pretty long walk, i believe. You also would have to walk the same paths at the donkeys. You can ride donkeys up and down the hill BUT i highly encourage you not to. I know many people like to do it for the Greek tradition, but i have done extensive research and it seems as though the donkeys are not treated right and are not given proper rest for that type of journey. If you dont want to walk up the cliff, think about having to carry someone on your back up the cliff. Done be lazy and save the donkeys.
In Santorini there is a lot to do. I heard renting mopeds through the city is fun. We did an excursion that was “the best of Santorini”. They stopped many places throughout the city. One in which is the most popular with its shopping and scenery. This is where we found the site of the ever so popular photo of Greece. The one with the ocean and the blue tops of the buildings. It looks just as beautiful as the pictures. If you walk down the ally of shops, there are small walkways to the left that lead to views of the beach, this is where you will find the perfect photo opportunities. Next the tour guide took us all around the city and to a Greek vineyard where we were able to do wine tasting. (Having a tour guide was aweome because you learn so mch about the country that wouldnt otherwise get. For example, you cant have fences in Greece. You can only build a rock boarder around your property and can only use the rocks you find on the property. Can you imagine having to walk around your entire property and hope you find enough rocks to stack up so that your animals dont get out). The wine was ok but we did not purchase any. You can purchase some but you can not have it on the boat. You have to check the bottles in at the port and you can pic them up on your way off the boat at home. Otherwise, you can have the bottles shipped directly to your home from the vineyard, but its costly. I took a business card in case i decide i want to buy a bottle online one day.
Athens, Greece was next. Fun Fact: the Parthenon in Nashville is an exact replica of the pre-destroyed Parthenon in Athens. It actually is not as big as i anticipated it to be. It is all one short walk around the ancient grounds. We did this through an excursion which is nice since you dont have to worry about getting transportation to an from the site. We drove through the city of Athens and there is not much to see. Most of it is run down and you can tell the economy is having a hard time. There was a festival of some sort in the center of the city. We did not stop but i bet it would have been an awesome experience.
Pompeii/Naples Italy. I had high expectations for Pompeii because it sounded like it would be so interesting to see the ruins. However, we were not very impressed. We did not take an excursion there, but i wish we had. We took the train up to Pompeii and it was not a good experience. Thankfully we ran into someone who knew where they were going and they helped us get on the train and go in the right direction. The trains are not very safe to begin with and the trip is very long. It does stop right where you need it to though. Pompeii itself was not as interesting as i thought it would be. If you dont know the history of Pompaii, it is a town that was destroyed by a sudden eruption of a volcano. The entire city was completely covered by lava and destroyed. Hundreds of years later archaeologist uncovered the fallen city. It is HUGE. It is definitely a walk because it is an entire city to see. You are literally walking through what once was a big city. Unfortunately though, you cant tell what anything was. I was hoping for a better description of what was there but it really just looks like a bunch of small torn down buildings. I was also looking forward to seeing and hearing more about the artifacts and the peoples remains that were found but there is barely any of that at all. They say you have to visit the museum to see that stuff. I recommend skipping Pompeii the city, just watch a documentary, and go to the museum of Pompeii artifacts. Once we took the train back to Naples ,near the port, we walked around and had lunch at a cute restaurant near the heart of the city. I had pizza again. Apparently the “margarita pizza” was invented in Naples. Cant get enough of that authentic mozzarella.
We headed back to Rome where we took another shuttle into the city. We stayed another night in Rome to get a little ore site seeing done. This time we focused mostly on the Vatican. I dont get super impressed by these sorts of things. I dont like museums and things like this for some reason. My father of course was very into it so we tried to get the best of the Vatican in. It is a neat place. Very gorgeous and it is HUGE. I definitely recommend checking out the church at the Vatican where the Pope does mass. This is also where most sightings are of the Pope where he comes out on the balcony and addresses mass to the outside crowds. If you time it right you may catch it, however it is probably packed at these times. We had just missed him on a Wednesday but you could tell where there had been hundreds of people outside the church to see him come out. We took a short trip to the Bocca della Verità or “The Mouth Of Truth”, which you put your hand in the mouth of a statue and if it bites your hand off then you a lair. Weird but neat tradition.
We flew back out of Rome and headed for Nashville. However we had a layover and everything got all backed up. American Airlines is notorious for delays. Our first flight got into the airport very late which made us miss our connecting flight. Then security was backed up and we had to get flights changed so we missed the next flight out. We ended up with an over 6 hour layover. Finally we got to Nashville after 25 hours of traveling.
An eventful and once in a lifetime trip.
Ill be back for Venice one day,
XOXO

OH MAN Why Am I Dead At Sea is SO FUCKIN GOOD
god I’m full of FEEEELS and THEORIES and GAHHHH I cant talk about ANYTHING about this game without spoiling stuff!! So I’m gonna make a spoilery ramble post woo! I havent actually finished it yet so this is spoils for like... up to the very last bit before the start of the final chapter. And I’ll try and talk about stuff in order so like, if you dont mind seeing a few spoils then you can read halfway thru i guess?? I just really wanna be able to reccommend this game and gush about characters without having to talk spoils!! GAHHH!!
ANYWAY U CAN BUY IT HERE Its really cheap and really worth it! Its even on sale right now so its £1.50 instead of £3! DOUBLE CHEAP!! But absolutely remember to backup your savefiles frequently, there’s a pathfinding glitch that can make the game unwinnable. And its a damn shame cos that nearly made me stop playing before I got to any of the good bits! Its easy to avoid once you know about it, at least.
Man, I’m so sad the gameplay has that one big glitch cos its really cool aside from that?? Its super basic and probably not everyone’s cup of tea though, this is a game that you’d only enjoy if you’re the sort of people who like when a game has like.. a codex of extra info you can collect. There’s not as much ‘control people to affect the world’ as you’d expect, its 99% controlling people to unlock different dialogue options. All word puzzles and stuff! And the easiest way to get out of being stuck is just to methodically possess everyone you havent possessed yet, and talk to everyone and click on everything using them. I can imagine that’d be frustrating for people who like.. weren’t already doing that anyway. I Wanted to do that instantly cos I wanna find all the optional insights into everyone’s character! And some funny moments and sweetheart moments and AAAA I care about these people too much already... Oh, and its even more reason to love Paulo cos he gives you tips if you chat to him, and can even outright tell you the solution if you get really stuck. So for players who dont like being all completionist on the dialogue, he’s a very useful helper! I just wish that the ‘outright give you the solution’ option was better labelled so you dont click it by accident. Its just ‘tell me more’, I didnt know itd ruin the current puzzle for me :P
And MAAAAAN this game gets really trancey and atmospheric and I cant even really explain why?? You spend the whole game within this one small area but stuff gets opened up over time and things are revealed about seemingly innocent areas when you gain the new abilities of different people you possess. And how the player character is just this ethereal floaty flame, and how you get used to all the rules of how it works, and how neat the lil animations are. And how you start memorizing the place and all the details about everyone and getting REALLY DETERMINED to protect them GAHHH And the soundtrack is REALLY GOOD
PAULO IS MY SMALL SON PLEASE TELL ME I CAN PROTECT HIM FOREVER tiny necromancer boy aaaaaa he’s so lonely aaaaa he’s on this ship cos he has to ride it all the time on his own to get back from boarding school, his parents cant be bothered to pick him up and he’s just SO YOUNGGGG aaaa he’s like a child prodigy, he’s going to this big scary boarding school several grades above him and his parents are so distant and everyone thinks he can just handle everything because he’s smart and on top of all that he has to keep the secret that he can see ghosts, and theyre like his ONLY FRIENDS even though he only gets to talk to them for a little while before they pass on. YET HE STILL KEEPS HELPING THEM! He says all ‘oh im only summoning you for selfish reasons, I want you to save everyone else on the ship’ but he still helps you resolve your own death even when he knows it means he’ll never see you again. He has to mourn his best friend every damn time he makes one! Aside from that all he has is his teddy bear, showing just how young he really is and how much he FUCKING NEEDS GOOD PARENTS no matter how damn smart the poor kid is and AAAAA... And when you start getting clues about who you maybe are, it gets even sadder cos he’s like... “I didnt know her well but... I liked her. She helped me with my geometry homework.” God he had just ONE MOMENT of incredibly ordinary minimal friendship with this lady and then as soon as he’d got his hopes up THIS SHIT HAD TO HAPPEN! No wonder he locked his door for the entire cruise and refused to be near anyone except his new ghost friend. And gahhh he must have had his suspicions from the start about who it was that died, as soon as she didn’t come back to help with his homework. From his perspective this was just like an inevitable conclusion and he was begging you to find any other answer...
MORE SPOILERY SPOILER I was so fucking terrified when his door finally opened, and all you see inside is empty space. I mean it was a punch to the gut indeed that someone else died that we only really just met, but I’m WAY more terrified that the main sidekick for the whole game is potentially gonna die! He’s just vanished though, so I’m hoping that whether you save him or not is what determines the bad endings? So it IS possible to save him right?? SPOILER ENDDDDDDD
I’m still really confused how to feel about Xu though. I mean she’s such a huge jerk but I still cant help but feel sympathy for her?? And I feel like.. if I am supposed to hate her then its kinda annoying that the game brings up all these sympathetic concepts just to sorta discard them, they only exist to be her failed excuses for her actions. I dunno, its just sorta messed up. But it also means that if I AM supposed to agree with her actions then its messed up too?? And either way its frustrating cos she’s the only chinese character in the cast and her plot is so... gah. She’s this jerkass to everybody and she steals from the customers and then her excuse is ‘but I’m so poor and I’m a minority, how dare you yell at me for stealing’ and then she NEVER GIVES THE STUFF BACK and you never have any option to tell anyone?? And its so messed up cos like.. Anton actually IS a privilaged guy and I can see why she’d be mad that he’s in this job because he ‘wants to travel’ whereas she has to take it because she’s literally homeless. I mean if they actually discussed that then it’d be a good plot. And its a shame you cant bring up the secrets you find about Anton even when you get full possession of him, you find out he also had a meltdown and flunked out of college cos he just couldnt handle it, they could have been able to bond over that and realise they were both having misconceptions about each other’s motives for things. Like, she saw him as some guy who just chose to drop out of the education she wishes she could go back to, because he’s soooo rich and he can do whatever he wants. And he’d never considered how good he’s got it, and how other people are denied the same opportunities, and how he can use his privilage to help make the world fairer for these other people! Its just.. like.. you dont even find out that Anton IS rich until AFTER the conversation about Xu stealing his stuff, so it comes out of nowhere and feels like the game is saying privilage is a stupid concept thats not real and its being used as an excuse for her to be horrid. Either that or its on Xu’s side and its saying shoplifting is fine as long as you steal from white people?? And like.. Anton didnt do ANYTHING to make it seem like he deserved it, as far as we see. He’s never even rude to her?? He doesnt seem to do anything racist or classist. Its just like she assumes he;s that way because he’s a rich white guy but the game shows him to be Super Innocent so is it saying that everyone who ever accuses anyone of racism is always lying or.. gahhh?? It just feels like its trying to make a statement but I have no clue what it is! And this is the only time racism is ever discussed so it kinda stands out?? Also.. like.. NOBODY ever discusses the name issue?? Its really confusing, cos even her steam trading card calls her ‘Xu/Sue’. Ingame EVERYONE calls her Sue except herself and the interface. But its never drawn attention to, or explained?? So like, am I actually meant to assume that everyone is mispronouncing her name? But there’s no option to not do it! Or to bring up the subject! Anyway I just CANNOT stop feeling sympathy for her every time I see the damn wrong name in all these text boxes. Even if she’s an abrasive asshole half the time she feels like she has some sense of morality deep down, and that she’s been pushed to this extent by a terrible life rather than just choosing to become this sort of person. She’s just kinda like the ‘token evil good guy’ on the team. Even though she’s committing petty crimes it pales in comparison to the bigger horror that’s going on here :P
MAN it felt so damn good to finally get the reveal on Donavan and play as him for the first time! I mean whoa what a good climactic moment! What an uplifting! And what a downlifting when it gets cut short by tragedy, lol I TOTALLY KNEW IT that he was a cop! I mean seriously he was such a clear red herring, he was being pushed so heavily as the killer and we never got to know anything actually about him. And when you read his mind the ‘I WILL FIND YOU. I WILL EXTERMINATE YOU.’ struck me as something that could easily have a double meaning if he was a detective looking for the real killer! It was just SO BADASS when you finally get to control him and you have the power to enter every room and find clues that were locked off for ages! And it feels like you’re finally making progress so it was such a great story decision that the killer gets him immediately afterwards. And how their last taunt to him is that he was NO WHERE NEAR solving the mystery! Its just a taste of power and then its all thrown away and it makes you SO FUCKING DETERMINED to finish what donovan started with your weak lil protagonist hands NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES GAHHHHH
And then finally regaining a humanoid ghost form and being able to unlock the last two people’s tragic backstories by visiting their dreams!! And gahhh it was so interesting and sad that you have to lie and pretend to be the ghost of someone else they care about, in order to get through to them and say what that person would have said if they had got the chance to be the protagonist instead of you. It was actually a genuine huge surprise to learn that Gwen wasnt remotely involved with the murder! Like, she spent the whole game being paranoid that someone is coming after her, and everyone was saying she’s JUST paranoid, and then it turns out she WAS just paranoid! But I love that the game is actually sympathetic to her paranoia and shows how it’s a legitimate mental illness. Its left more mysterious than a lot of the other backstories, but it seems that her father or uncle or someone abused her and her sister when she was a child, and her sister was killed while she escaped. And even though its over she’s been haunted by the belief he’ll find her any second now, causing her to destroy her own life through reckless decisions, jumping up and running away every time things start getting good in her life. She doesnt even know where she’s running to! And GOD I really liked how you resolve it, you dont just cure people’s mental illnesses by giving them a motivational speech. But you help them feel like they’re able to endure it, that they’ll get better someday and that they should accept help from therapists. And NOT BLAME THEMSELVES for being sick! I just really liked the line “yes, this is a living nightmare, but if you’re awake you can change things”.
And when you do the similar dream sequence for Darryl there’s an even better climactic line! Its like, after a whole game of him blaming himself for his wife’s suicide, going over a bazillion different scenarios of how he could have prevented it, you just say... “I was sick, there was nothing you could do.” There isnt some magical REASON why she became depressed, her life with him was as happy as he could have given her. It wouldnt have just stopped if her life was perfect, she had to get treatment, its an illness. It wasnt anyone’s fault, it was just a bad stroke of chance that she never told anyone about it and never got a chance to be treated, or even to talk it through with her husband at all. Her diary is just full of her feeling guilty that she must be making it up because she loves her husband so much and it’d be like insulting him to admit she isnt happy within her own skin, when he does everything to be the best husband he can. Goddd.... its so sad that its BECAUSE THEY WERE HAPPY that she was in this position where she never sought help! Where she just shouldered it herself and hoped it would go away on its own! And god, you get to see that Darryl does indeed have antidepressants in his room, unlike her he did seek therapy and its just because of his guilt that he isnt fully accessing that help. And he’s taking these drugs instead of his proper medication, and he’s planning his own suicide at the end of the trip. And god, you get to talk him down from it and say what his wife wanted to say, and save him from meeting the same fate as her! You’re just sick, Darryl. She was sick too. Its not anyone’s fault that someone stays depressed, nothing can magically make depression go away, you have to see a doctor like with any other illness. You cant just talk it away by telling yourself that you ‘should’ be happy and youre somehow choosing to feel this way...
GODDDD I hope poor mr stubble grandpa is okay after the end of the game And I hope him and Quella stay in touch as friends! Her backstory made me cry too, goddddd She’s been diagnosed with cancer and has anywhere between three and seven months to live, because she was too poor to afford treatment until it was already too late. And she’s just so positive and okay with it?? Everyone else are the only ones crying for her.. She just wants to finish her final novel before she runs out of time, she’s crying more about not having enough inspiration for this. She just wants to be remembered, she knows she cant change her own death and this is the only thing she CAN change... I want Darryl to be her friend and help beta read her novel aaaa And dear god can everyone please be okay and stick together and GOD why can’t protagonist stay T_T I want you all to be safe when I’m gone, my friends. God I get to know them so closely yet never be able to really even talk to them, they’ll just remember me as someone they talked to only once before I died... And DEAR GOD let me rescue Paulo please!!!! everyone be safe please I don’t want to be able to hug Paulo and stay with him forever There is no way this can happen unless the worst possible thing happened I have to say goodbye okay i HAVE TO SAVE EVERYONE if all goes well I’ll never see any of you in person, okay? just let me be a shadow on this boat and pass away with no regrets knowing all of you will live a lot longer than me THIS GAME GETS ME SO EMOTIONALLLLL
