majorly agree!!!! i think frieza ships can be interesting in like darkfics and whatnot, but the only frieza ship i actually think could work in a canon-like setting is with yamcha XD

but yeah every now and then i'll be reading a fic and the author will just drop some casual homophobia. honestly it doesn't even seem like it's intentional or anything, just kinda thoughtless, but there's a lot of very much intentional homophobia too

....to be fair tho maybe it's to be expected since the gay characters in dragon ball have until very recently been pretty.... yikes-y. i know super introduced at least four implied wlw characters, but i never got that far, so i have no idea what they're like. i have a caulifla in legends but aside from that, no clue

Most ships involving Frieza, he deserves absolutely nothing, but especially if it involves one of the saiyans.

I haven't had any DragonBall ships ruined for me, not yet anyway. Hopefully it stays that way.

A good chunk of the DB fandom is seriously homophobic, it's ridiculous sometimes.

#i only ship yamza bc it's incredibly funny #and frankly yamcha deserves as much war criminal pussy as bulma does #but mostly i'm a yamten fan XD #dragon ball #i ping pong back and forth on what i want from frieza tbh #like on the one hand he is SO MUCH FUN but he's also AWFUL #i think a frieza redemption arc could be really interesting but it'd probably be too similar to vegeta's #bc they'd both have to cause more problems than they solved #like ultimately i think it's possible for goku to drag frieza kicking and screaming into the light side but it'd be a long LONG road #having said that from what i heard about the whole bringing him back on purpose this time thing #he actually is technically less evil now?#i mean that's probably in part bc he's aware that vegeta is just waiting for the chance to actually get to kill him #and dying to vegeta would at this point be more embarrassing than dying to pretty much anyone else for him #i can't imagine frieza being in a healthy relationship with anyone tho especially not a saiyan #but i also have a hc that his species reproduces asexually so he probably wouldn't experience anything like what we know as romantic love #i say this as an aro to be clear #it's not a ''oh he's so awful he could never feel good things like love'' bc that's stupid #it's more like. idk. expecting a snake to have the same biochemical reaction to a human as the human to the snake #they just aren't the same thing #like he clearly has a recognizable parent-child relationship with his dad even if it's not necessarily a healthy one #idk he's a great character and whether he ultimately becomes less terrible or gets Even Worse i'm down to watch him do it
