Wyll definitely tries to see the good in people, even monsters. And I don't think he actively hunts monsters that aren't hurting innocent people or anything!

Its a nuanced thing where he's just. Constantly aware of the dangers literally everyone presents. I think, like his Father, he does not forget a transgression. Hes holds people and monsters accountable. If u can't be reasoned with and uve shown ur hand as hurting ppl, u need to be stopped permeanantly

And that's all well and good but who gave him the authority to decide that really, especially when its possible he can choose wrong

Hes very proud of killing, he likes killing, and while he'd never kill anyone innocent on purpose---he can be tricked and hes not entirely in control of the people he kills and hunts down. And he's intense about it!

I think like. For me, wyll isn't a takedown of "lawful good" hes a takedown of the generic hero. Bc wyll is just doing what any generic adventurer would do (which is basically how balduran describes himself). He goes around fighting monsters. And that's good and normal and reasonable, and also hard fucking work that should be celebrated

But there is some moral grayness there i think where a loss of life is a loss of life. Eveb to wyll, i think! A part of him mourns, sometimes. There is some sadness in the fact that the people who understand him best WOULD be monsters, or cultists, and he can't connect with them on that level, he has to take them down instead, because even tho they're hirt people hurting ppl--- a lot them can't be reasoned with

And like. I think wyll has lost a part of himself, and disconnected a part of himself by dehumanizing devils and monster

Bc if he knows theyrr people too and he still kills them, still dedicates his life to killing them

Like. What's he supposed to do about himself? How is he supposed to connect with ANYONE?

He can't have feelings for the murderers except perhaps to mourn them, he can't have deep connections for anyone he's saving except as their "hero" and even tho little boys call him friend. Well. Thats not really the same thing

Hes a hero that defeats monsters but can't really talk about it, who sympathizes with monsters, but can't really talk about it

He exists not as a person with connections and flaws and real relationships based on trust and mutual struggles, but like. A pedestal. Or alternatively if you're a monster or a devil, someone to take advantage of, or someone to fight

Bc while wyll knows monsters are people. I think a part of him can't let them truly close bc hes afraid

And of course not all monsters are created equal hes always going to feel strangely about devils LOL
