Book!Louis v Show!Louis (ft. Movie!Louis)

[A/N: I initially posted this as a reblog, but i feel like i went off on a couple of tangents so I'm just going to make an original post about it]

Oooh ok so I have a lot thoughts on this. For context tho, I'ev watched the show and movie, but I've only read the first book (the og iwtv novel) so pls bare with me if i get any facts wrong.

I think Book!louis (BL) and Show!Louis (SL) are a lot more similar than people realise. I think most show fans hate on don't actually hate on BL,,, they just hate that he was a glorified slave owner (yes it was the 1700s but u can see why it makes ppl uncomfortable). BUT in saying that, fans who geniunely dislike BL for his other characteristics, like his emo-ness and catholic guilt and philosophical tangents,, i think its a little strange because SL is pretty much the same in that regard??

I think it's harder for viewers to realise on screen because yes SL does appear more expressive and obviously we can't hear SL's thoughts like we do in the books, but even just from his narration to daniel, a lot of his actions and relationship with his loved ones reflect that. I also think that also deal with their traumas pretty similarly and have similar unhealthy coping mechanisms. They can sometimes very super impulsive and reckless when provoked. They think they deserve to be punished, they think they are damned. And obvs their reaction and antagonizing over vampirism is basically the same.

I think really the only difference between SL and BL (besides, ya know, the race/work/time period) is that BL feels the need to mask his sadness and inner nature and present to society in a certain fashion,, whereas BL wallows in his misery pretty openly (well at least in comparison to SL). This may come from the fact that SL is a Black man from the early twentieth century and has a family to care for as well as lots of expectations, wheres as BL doesn't really have any of that -- well we, ok technically he had close familial relationships but we're not really shown much of that in the book. We are introduced to him in mourning and distanced from his family,, we never really get to see how his life was like before that. In the movie, we are even introduced to Brad Pitt's louis very publicly showcasing his sadness and lack of will to live by putting himself in a fight, so to speak.

I think that's why I really enjoy reading SL-centred fanfiction because they explore his thought process through the stuff that happens in the show and it aligns so much with BL!!

Anyways,, i guess my point is,, BL and SL are actually pretty similar!! love to read. love to mope and ponder on the moral failings of life! Love their loved ones SO much but can never voice it out loud. catholic guilt. both would be entertained watching paint dry. lowkey dickmatized

anyways i love Louis so much as a character and I'm so glad to see another adaption of him -- and yeah i'll say it, I do prefer show louis more but only really because of Jacob Anderson + the intersectional portrayal of Blackness and how it impact's Louis' character, + getting rid of that whole white slaver owner spiel (not saying that SL had a totally innocent job btw but damn idk why anne rice went with the plantation thing like,,??) -- anyways yeah main point is that I love Louis and he isn't boring in any version and all adaptations of him are more similar than ppl realise.

Ok but in true ask tradition! :U im hijacking this ask to talk about a dumb theory thats been rolling around in my head for like 2 years now: android 16 and broly similarities:

Ok so. If you aren't aware. The android arc of dragon ball was originally going to focus on the androids 19 & 20 and trunks even names them specifically

But Toriyamas former editor, Kazuhiko Torishima, didn't like them as the main antagonists and so Toriyama changed it to focus on 17 & 18 as the bad guys and introduced 16 as a sort of mystery

Now. This gets almost completely dropped once that same former editor ALSO doesn't like these androids and cell becomes the main villian for the arc (yeah yeah, the bomb thing is technically *there*, but its so inconsequential most people forget its even a thing :T )

So. Idk exactly when movie 8 went into production, but we know Brolys LSSJ form was inspired by trunks SSJ grade3 form that appears several chapters after cell has been introduced and the androids have become power-up fodder, so im gonna argue its safe to say the decision to move away from their story had been made

(side tangent that I find absolutely hilarious btw- despite gokus commentary in the HTC, SSJ grade 3 was the strongest form of ssj we saw at this point, so its pretty appropriate to use it as the basis of the strongest scariest ssj form.... rrriiiiiiiiggght up until toriyama introduced SSJ2 on Feb 2, 1993- near exactly 1 month before the first Broly movie hit theaters. Completely undermined what, up til then, looked like a trend in stronger form = bigger and beefier right as the big beefy strongest guy ever movie came out 🤣 absolutely love it!)

So anyways. The movies overall also tend to have varying degrees of similarities with recent arcs in the show and Toriyama, while not overly involved, would give the studio designs and story notes. And. Idk. Yall can tell me im reaching if ya want, but: A guy who's made into a weapon by his father who's on a quest for revenge and has this conflicting view of his son as both someone he feels he failed to protect, someone he cares about, but also as a tool for that revenge, and someone who's destructive power hes become deeply afraid of.. now where have we seen somethin like that 🤔 may be an extra reach but I also think its neat that despite their different face shape, Toriyamas gave em the same expression

Lol they're also both just ridiculously tall bastards. Like for no gd reason. And yeah, to me atleast, it explains why hating goku specifically gets shoehorned into brolys backstory (listen I can absolutely do the mental gymnastics to make it make sense! I'm fine with it! Its fine! I actually like it! ... but it IS a dumb shoehorned plot point! Both things can be true D:< ) look just lookit these tall ass shits

Anyway. My last note is just this statement from Toriyama about 16 and Gero. The way gero is presented is really in line with how I see Paragus as this tragic failure of a father- honestly caring about his kid, but letting grief and revenge drive him into conflicting corners where he wants revenge FOR the life denied his son, but also actively shaping his son into such a terrifying weapon that ultimately hed rather his kid just never be conscious cause thats the 'only way to keep them safe'

“Dr. Gero’s son who died young a long time ago served as the visual model for Android 16. He was a high-ranking soldier for the Red Ribbon Army but was shot down by the enemy. •It doesn’t sleep at night (star doesn’t know its supposed to) just so it can stare up into space all night

•Its a very light sleeper, stars never really tired or groggy he’s either 110% or totally passed out

•Stardust and its brother were both princes in their home universe, they traveled to our universe as a kinda test their father gave them to ‘prove themselves’ worthy of the throne

•stardust was in fact not proven to be worthy just yet

•Stardust doesn’t actually hate its brother, stars just naive and childish. It’s like when you’re a young kid and your sibling does something to upset you and you’re like “I HATE U!! BWEH!!” When you’re really just a dramatic kid lawl

•no one really sees it without his facepaint on, there’s rumors that it’s just…part of its face (it’s not though! A few people have shared rooms with star and can confirm it comes off. They had to swear to not describe what he looks like, though)

•uses space facts and stupid metaphors as a way of bonding, most people find it annoying but it’s stars best attempt at getting closer to someone

•gets irrationally annoyed if someone doesn’t understand what stars saying, it feels like all the metaphors it uses are extremely obvious and star shouldn’t need to explain them (they aren’t, and it does)

•smells like code red Mountain Dew (just trust)

•totally mesmerized by human tech, specifically things like microphones or amplifiers ( it doesn’t understand them!!)

And also telescopes!!

•has been arrested multiple times because the cops thought it was on drugs, when in reality stars just..like that (it’s father, goldust, triple h, ect had to bail him out)

•eats butter noodles

•no one has seen it blink. Ever

•randomly found absolutely SNOOZING backstage a good 2 minutes before stars supposed to go out, somehow never actually late

•in order to move dimensions, both stardust and goldust needed a ‘ vessel’ (Cody and Dustin Rhodes). Dustin and goldust were able to coexist peacefully, but Cody proved to be more difficult

•despite knowing its body is technically Cody’s, Stardust really doesn’t understand why people call him Cody when star ‘obviously’ isn’t

•absolute expert on human history! That and astrology are the only two things that can get it to calm down for longer than 2 seconds, other than stars father or sometimes brother

•Loves Eden (Brandi) They’re best friends forevers (even if star creeps her out sometimes)

•knows every single constellation and WILL point them out to you

•takes birthdays very seriously

•doesn’t understand that characters in movies are played by actors (the rock confuses star greatly)

15. Unpopular oppinion?

Okay this is also technically my answer to number 2 but it's my only oppinion I know for a fact is unpopular: Zombies 2 is the worst movie in the trilogy. Like, it's still a fun watch, I like that it introduced the werewolves because they're fun characters, Flesh & Bone and the Someday reprise fuckin rule, and I genuinely really like Zed and Addison's arcs in it and how they play into their larger ones, but outside of Zeddison it's SO poorly written. Holy fuck it's bad. The election plotline sucks ass, they ruined Bucky for no fucking reason, Eliza doesn't actually DO anything which sucks, the werewolves give me so much second hand embarrassment, it's just... not very good. I don't like it.

18. Character you wish got more depth/screen time?

BUCKY BUCKY 100% BUCKY OH MY FUCKING GOD- I will DIE mad about how the sequels handled him. He had so much POTENTIAL to grow and be an interesting character after the 1rst movie and they just THREW ALL OF IT AWAY for GOD KNOWS what reason and it SUCKS holy SHIT- I seriously DON'T understand why they went that direction with him in Z2. The principal is literally RIGHT FUCKIN THERE you could've used HER as the antagonist instead of the fUCKING 17 YEAR OLD THAT AT THIS POINT HAS AN ESTABLISHED CHARACTER ARC and it would've been FINE oh my FUCKING GOD- then in Z3 they just. Didn't know what to do with him. Like seriously he doesn't even act like he did in the first movie it's BAD- there's so much they could've done with him. HE DIDN'T EVEN GET TO SAY GOODBYE TO ADDISON AND THEY'RE FUCKING C O U S I N S- my mans got done so fucking dirty I hate it here. This is why Re-Animated is SUPERIOR. Also speaking of Re-Animated I hope Dae gets more screen time I really like her :)

omg what a difficult question LOL but i have attempted to rank them for myself before..

funny, my ranking now is completely different from my first impressions

anyway get ready for another signature long, way overthought answer filled w series spoilers

disclaimer, being low on the list here doesn't mean i dislike the film, actually. there are none I truly dislike, its just I love the top ones so much that it simply pushes every other down

i was just gonna describe my top 3 and then vaguely rank the rest but i think ill describe all of them. so, in LOOSE order of fave to least fave (def not set in stone)

Saw VI: has my favorite scenes with my favorite character, the FBI plot is thrilling, William Easton's game is one of the best, every trap is memorable to iconic, technical things like the cinematography and lighting and set design is mwah chefs kiss. And, its one of the most satisfying films in terms of finally getting answers to mysteries that have been teased for 3 movies straight, and finally seeing Hoffman get his comeuppance. The last moments of that film are some of the hypest shit. I put this one on when I need to see my man and im craving peak soap opera vibes but in all the best ways

Saw X: As much as I love the investigation plotline, I love how this one takes a step back and you truly get to be with John and Amanda all movie, they got to really spend time on the emotion and heart of the film, and again, it has some of the most memorable and exciting sets and traps, as well as some of my favorite player characters. Cecelia, my queen. it also has i think one of my favorite finale scenes of all of them, where we get to see John in a trap himself!!! and the hello Zepp moment being just. perfection. 👌 I put this one on when I want my Saw-watching experience to feel like a sporting event from thrill and great subtle humor, but i also need to be in the mood for the emotional beats bc they hit pretty hard

Saw II: I will sing this film's praises whenever I can. Its a fantastic sequel and I will tell u why. Aside from Saw X this is practically the one other film where John actually gets a spotlight and he eats up every scene. This fuckin guy. One of the funniest films to rewatch after knowing the signature Saw twists- this dude drops so many foreshadowing comments its honestly impressive and comedic. The nerve gas house is also one of my favorite games, and I love seeing Amanda get a spotlight too. You also get a taste for what the franchise has in store when it comes to the camp and soap opera plotline, so as long as you're into that, its one of the most fun Saw films. I watch this one when I want a more lighthearted Saw experience where it really feels like John and Amanda are up to mischief

Saw V: A little on the slower side, I actually appreciate that this one is mostly about providing much-needed answers and backstory. If you hate Hoffman, I get why this one could be a slog, but I adore him so I'm fine. As for Strahm, this one really shocked me. I thought he was gonna be a one-movie type deal just be killed off at the very start, but he SHOCKED me. U get to watch someone survive a trap, a RIGGED one no less, and go from kind of a cocky asshole to the baddest bitch on the scene. He singlehandedly figured out Hoffman's deal and took it upon himself to stop him, procedure be damned. I was rooting for him so hard, man. I also really like the Fatal Five. And the Glass Coffin. Listen, it's pretty obvious why I'll put this one on.

Saw: The OG. What more is there to say. It's original, it's exciting, it redefined a genre whether you wish it did or not, it's got the craziest early 2000's flare, it's got mystery, it's got drama, it's got it all. I put this one on when I want to go back to our ✨roots✨

Saw IV: Initially this was probably my least favorite but now that I can tell Hoffman and Strahm apart, now that I adore both of those characters, now that I know the plot like the back of my hand so I'm not confused by the copious flashbacks and general lack of answers given and new questions asked, I love it just like the others. Rigg is also one of my favorite game-players, he's just so good and wants to save his friends, watching him mentally toil over everything is really exciting. The traps are also fun. And every Strahm scene. (also this movie is filled with really hot men and lots of fanservice for Jennas like me to enjoy, and enjoy even more with shipping goggles on)

Saw III: This one I love for the progression of Amanda and John's complicated dynamic and lore but I also can't rewatch it often because it's so damn sad, and gross. This one is probably the grossest one between the multiple vomit moments and pig vat. Ugh. But, every Amanda scene, my god. My precious girl. I want to scoop her into my arms. I love her so much. This one I've only watched twice, Im due for another stoned midnight rewatch soon.

Saw 3D: They can't make me hate you. I haven't rewatched this one yet, but I'll rewatch moments for a laugh. I like the potential- all the ideas they had, like the original film callbacks and bringing back Lawrence as an apprentice and finally showing someone dying in the damn RBT, and even the furthering of Hoffman's mental downfall which I'd argue started in 5, were intriguing on paper, but the execution was a bit awkward. I like Hoffman's rampage though. Hoffmanator, my problematic fave, really playing into my love for slashers there

Spiral: this was a Scream movie. but, I like Scream. ill rewatch it one day when im in a specific mood i think. maybe

Jigsaw: meh. dont hate it but i have no desire to rewatch. i do think Logan coming back would be the funniest shit ever

OK SURE! *glass shattering sound* (Some of these are not "headcanons" or are technically implied to be canon but im just going to list all of my specific perceptions regarding the character)

Long list down bellow. vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

-Dave and Jack both have adhdtism and borderline personality disorder. (((I also want to use this opportunity to apologize for any previous ignorance/rudeness i may have responded with before I'm a bitch but erm I am improving. so yeh also yeah i can definitely see Jack being autistic now too which i know i said i dont really see. it turns out my symptoms i projected onto him were also autistic symptoms so um...))) -Jack is a dog person, Dave doesnt have an animal prefrence but dogs suit him the best because he's dependent and sensitive and dogs love unconditionally, Henry has no feelings about animals however he dislikes dogs in particular. -Henry likes cartoon bears the best though. only cartoon versions.

-I imagine Dave as a child wasn't necessarily BULLIED by other orphans but he was treated poorly and excluded. Adult carers would try to befriend him but he was a "problem child" as a kid and didn't comprehend human boundaries (he never learned) so he made adults uncomfortable too. -I stole this one but if Dave was a cat he'd be a lykoi. henry would be a maine coon (jack is a default shorthair but i give him folded ears sometimes for fun) -My Dave was born purple (and also Henry is born pink) for reasons similar to Doggo's "why is henry's eyes evil" explanation. It's just different ways of their "evil" manifesting -- Dave's eyes are normal as a child however because obviously he isnt "evil" as a child, I imagine his soul is just weird and that he's never been fully normal. (because I'm not a fan of "x character if bad thing never happened" worlds where the character is basically just a normal person. Like its just more interesting if they were always an outcast/unusual from birth. Also it just makes more sense for Dave's character since he is never shown to be normal in any way even in the flipside LOL....also because Dave is often described as "not exactly human")

-Henry however just quickly grew to be jaded and resentful of anyone and anything living. Either from his dad or just that being his personality (but I prefer both). He wasn't outcast and he got along with people when he felt like it but he just hated everyone. -However I imagine Henry always had a childish side to him that enjoys more cartoon artistry and performance. -Henry and Dave gesture similarly when expressing excitement/enthusiasm, though Henry gestures very little most of the time. Henry either expresses exaggeratedly and cartoonishly (but comes across condescending) or not at all.

-Jack likes to watch TV but Dave does not and finds sitting still and watching pictures on a screen boring. (Though certain movies/shows are an exception) -Back when Dave still had simple desires/pleasures (before the lobotomy) he always wanted to have a pet but animals always hated him (because he didn't know how to handle them gently).

-Henry has no romantic or sexual desires whatsoever. He had a wife and child simply because Martha confidently expressed interest on him and he decided to lie to her. The only motive really involved was the societal standard of having a family/having a kid to continue his legacy (but henry didn't really need that to spread his didnt he lol..)

-Alongside that Dave is pansexual and Jack is bisexual (with a prefrence to men) but those are obvious -Dave appears stiff however can contort his body disturbingly (flexible), Jack is normal and appears in great condition for a corpse... (mostly due to makeup (nail polish emoji))

this is gonna be hard I'm in so many fandoms lol I'm gonna try to be diverse. Also this is super long

1. Eritav (Homestuck)

OUGHHH where do i start with these 2. Ok so tavros is my fave troll so naturally during the period i was reading Homestuck a lot i stared having dreams about him. And for some reason one time Eridan was also there so i was intrigued and looked into their ship tag on AO3 and found the best fic ever with like the best characterization, writing etc... Before i literally didn't give 2 shits about eridan but it made me love his character as well. It's called "Black sails, Black romance" by mtjester and it's about Tavros and Eridan developing a kismesissitude(which is basically hate love, for those that don't read hs). The reason i put a pic of them down there as moirails is because i can honestly see them in any quadrant, despite them never talking in canon.

For moirallegiance, i feel like it would start out rocky but eventually develop into something better. Tavros would actually be allowed to speak his mind and develop more confidence since i dont think Eridan would shut him down constantly like Vriska, as Eridan is desperate for his quadrants to actually work. And Eridan would obviously benefit from having someone to keep his ass in line.

I can see them developing into matesprits later from that as well.

And as for kismesissitude, well it's already getting too long and i already gave a fic rec for it.

2. Toxic4Toxic/Socket/Rocket x Sinedd whatever they're called (Galactik football)

Must i say anything. They give each other undiscovered mental illnesses and are horrible for each other and i love that for them. Rocket is my favorite character and so his arc in season 2 was most interesting to me, which includes his relationship with Sinedd. I feel like they could have done more with them in s2, but i already made a post about that.

3. Hinadam (Super Danganronpa 2)

AHHHH THEM. Contender for fave rarepair of all time and fave Danganronpa ship overall. Best fics on ao3. 0 fandom toxicity surrounding them. Should be shipped more than k0mahina. Is more canon than k0mahina(I'm gonna get torn apart for this opinion but idc!!!)

like the entire freetime events with Gundham ends with him letting Hajime hold his hand, which he never let ANYONE do due to his touch aversion. He never develops a relationship this strong with anyone, not even Sonia who is his friend in the game. Hajime is the only person he feels safe and comfortable letting down his walls with due to Hajime's genuine effort to understand him better and be his friend. It's genuinely touching to me idkk i think i cried a bit first time i saw it. I'm not going to go into spoilers but good god man...the chapter ....if you know you know

and also in the island mode ending, Gundham asks Hajime if he wants to live a quiet life with himself and his animals. How is this not shipped more they're literally so in love it's not even funny

And NO i do not ship it because gundham is the best character and Hajime is the character i relate to most. but that could be part of it

The last movie i remember watching fully was Howl's moving Castle bcz my sister forced me and i enjoyed it even though it's not one of my favorite ghibli movies or anything. It was cool

There's nothing im really focused on atm but i have a list on my pinned. The big ones i would say are Adventure Time and MAR (for nostalgia purposes). I'm also watching the justice league cartoon but tbh I don't really enjoy it that much despite people saying it's great. It just doesn't hit the same heights as BTAS or have as enjoyable of a superhero team as LOSH 2006. To me. But idk maybe it gets better later

Im new and here's a first post talking about how Sam deserves to be with his space fam ( this is Marvel related btw)

The MCU has been not so gud lately, I don't think u need ANOTHER person saying that. But just like everyone else I do think that the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie is SO FUCKING GOOOD. And it got me realise something, other then the fact that I didn't realise how much of a fan I was of the Guardians, I ALSO realise that there isn't any fanfiction with Sam Alexander with any of the Guardians. If you don't know who Sam is he is the 2nd Nova in the Comics while Richard is the first. U can do ur research I'm not really here to summarise his character but he does technically interact with them in the comics, and the Ultimate Spider - man cartoon and Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon, there are more interactions that he has with them. And I honestly think he would have an interesting dynamic with them and adds something to the group, u know being the only kid in the group. But I see on AO3, there's barely ANY fanfics of him with them if not at all and I see this as a federal crime. How dare u people not do anything with this? There's so much potential, hell try making a fanfic that maybe inserts him in the MCU somehow or how he fits in the group literally ANYTHING GOOD MY SON HAS SO MUCH TO ADD. Look maybe I'm asking for too much, plus Richard is a lot more interesting as a character but STILL. IM GOING ABSOLUTELY FERAL KNOWING THAT THERES BARELY A TINY SALT OF CONTENT OF SAM AND THATS JUST A HATE CRIME AGAINST HIM. ALSO ALSO HE DESERVES HIS BESTIES MILES AND KAMALA TOO, YEP, THATS RIGHT IM GETTING THEM INVOLVED TOO. Hey Ro my beloved!! Here to indulge on the self-shipping. I was curious, do you have an actor or model that you see in your head as faceclaim for Jason? Or does your mind come up with a very specific iteration of him when you think about him? I ask because, when I like a written/drawn character, my mind is always on the lookout for an actor or a model that fits the description, just to have more of a solid idea of what they may look like in the flesh.

(Granted I used to be such a huge fan of all things Batman related but have fallen super behind and I don’t know if he has been adapted into a live action series or anything yet, so!)

jason has technically been adapted in the live action series but curran walters (the actor) is definitely not the jason i envision in my mind in my selfship au. i’m super super picky about face claims when it comes to him so i don’t actually have one that i go to every single time BUT in my mind he looks exactly like this one random guy i saw in 2017 whose face i cant even properly remember anymore 😭

usually in my mind apart from that i kind of imagine him as tanned and a bit beefy - but just a liiittle bit less than some of the official art. like a minuscule amount less just because i’m not a fan of the way they draw him a lot of the time. i think one of my favourite versions of him is in this panel because he looks so beautiful. tw for the joker tho i hate that clown.

a lot of the time they draw him so stocky and very…idk how to describe it but he looks much older than his age and it’s not very flattering. my mind’s jason is a mix of pretty/handsome and strong features i think. like he has pretty eyes and high cheekbones and a nice jaw but he’s also like. soft and strong. i like the idea of his muscles being covered in a layer of softness so it’s not like movie star six pack and gun show, he’s got big arms but they’re also soft. does this make sense? also he 100000% has the white streak and i imagine him with scars bc he earned them!! he looks a little scary but he’s a softie!!!!

i think he gets a little softer as our relationship progresses. this is a more personal thing but the idea of gaining weight in a relationship because you’re being well fed and loved is so important to me, for the both of us, because it’s like. you’re safe enough to relax, you’re happy enough to live and be healthy. it makes me emotional thinking about it. also with this - i think he looks more his age in my selfship au and it’s in that same vein of finally getting to rest. drawing from my own personal experiences, i looked a lot older than i was for most of my teenage years because of stress etc and it’s only in recent years that that’s stopped, so i imagine it’s the same with him. we get to be young together and we get to rest. this is so grossly sappy but there’s such a big healing element to that relationship and it’s so important to me.

where does one get started with lupin i’m curious

i will always recommend the movie Castle of Cagliostro (1979) directed by miyazaki because it is the best lupin media ever in my opinion. BUT. the problem with starting here. is that it's kind of like the magnum opus. which is insane to say because it's the 3rd lupin movie ever made but it's like. ok. it's super good but the lupin characters dont ever have that same amount of depth ever again and it's not really mentioned anywhere because there's no series continuity. it's kind of like a retrospective of the series that would take place near the end of a hypothetical timeline. but there isn't a timeline. no continuity. so Technically you could start anywhere with no issues as long as you know the very basic premise. once you know the main characters you're pretty much set for anything. with varying quality. and trust me it varies a lot. to the point where i don't easily recommend it LOL. um but aside from cagliostro hmm. i really like part 1 even though theres a lot of issues with it because like, it's definitely aged but there's a lot of depth (miyazaki also worked on part 1 lol) and you can see how people became so attatched to these characters. to me its a really good mix of ridiculously silly and seriousness and dread. ok and other than that. uhhh. hm. Fuma Conspiracy is a really good movie (and a shitty rip of it is currently on youtube hehe). oh and animation-wise i'd rec Lupin III: The First (yes the name makes it a pain in the ass to talk about) but the plot is not particularly good and also theres nazis in it. theyre the bad guys but jesus christ its a lot. also disclaimer pretty much everything i listed will have guns + violence and sexism. like Extreme Sexism. i hate this stupid series sometimes. a lot sometimes. cagliostro has the least sexist portrayal of fujiko my best friend fujiko the femme fatale and theres a section on the wikipedia about fans complaining about the lack of sexualization. to give you an idea of where this is at. theres always a ton of other shit going on in the movies n shit too so lmk if you'd like any specific tws for specific medias i listed.

TLDR:

• there's no continuity so all you need to know are the characters who are always being put into situations. MAIN CAST: Lupin III, Jigen, Goemon, Fujiko, and Zenigata. gentleman thief, gunman, samurai, femme fatale, and the detective trying to stop them all. they're all crazy. that's all u need to know. congrats you're set. that being said.

• Start with Castle of Cagliostro. (which is my fav but it's different from a lot of lupin media 💔)

• after that I'd go with Part 1 i guess. it sets up the characterizations extremely well but theres also Problems and Issues.

• Fuma Conspiracy. a solid movie 👍

• Lupin III: The First. amazing animation. plot leaves more to be desired. it follows the general plot beats of cagliostro though. still havent decided how to feel about that but WOW HES 3D!!!

• after this you can do whatever you want but watch out. i dont think ive watched anything else i could rec to a normal person.

Let’s summarize my thoughts on P5R. To be transparent, I played the OG version of P5 and was coming into P5R basically knowing about 3-5% of the new plot and mechanics if that. I am going to separate my thoughts by gameplay, Sumi, Akechi, Maruki, story, and other. Spoilers.

Gameplay: I have mentioned repeatedly that I fell in love with technicals, the updated baton pass, the showtimes, the disaster shadows, and most of the new boss phases. Sumi and Ann/Yusuke had my favorite showtimes.

For bosses, I didn't like the new Shiho shadow at all for Kamoshida’s fight. I thought the Okumura one was the best and Futaba’s the worst for bosses. Also, I kept forgetting I was playing this game on hard. So many great features, and I felt I wasn't challenged to use them.

I would love to see technicals return. I am not asking you Atlus. I am telling you. Bring them back. Please? Yaldaboth is still a joke. And the final boss is still Yaldaboth's concept plus a bit more when it comes to moves? Hit appendages with different attacks. Got it.

Also, I hated most of the designs for the third awakenings except Sumi's and Ann's. Also, some of them just had plain everyday names. It was weird. Sumi: So part of Sumi's story and knowing we might fight Maruki at some point, were the only thing I kind of knew going in.

Sumi is, fine? I don't hate her, but she isn't my favorite of the phantom thieves. I think her background story is interesting. I love her design. I really do not have much to say about her tbh. Maybe if I was blind to his part, I would have liked her more?

Maruki kind of stole the show. Similarly, how Zenkichi did for P5S. Such a great character. I definitely think he should be in jail for..something. But even before the 3rd semester, he easily became 1 of my favs. Despite the manipulation and not knowing when to call it quits.

My heart definitely broke for him and genuinely wished for his happiness. But it also felt good punching him in the face and reminding him to just let go (BTW violence is not the answer.) I hope Shibusawa can still be there for him. I'm glad he made it out. I was worried.

Akechi: But guess who didn't make it out, or did he? Akechi really grew on me. I think he shines when he doesn't care about others' perceptions of him. I love how he is straight to the point. That twist at the end got to me. I should have known. But the implications of the end?

That is what doesn't make sense. Does that mean we are still partially in Maruki's reality? Does it mean he was just daydreaming? Could he have actually survived? Who knows. I like how they kept it speculative. Also my AkeRyu crackship. Good times. Thank you.

Story: P5R is still very U shape, but now with the right side of the "U" much higher. I HATED the summer months and Hawaii trip of P5. It's easily the lowest part of the game for me. Hawaii could have easily been scrapped. I felt it was included to "fill in the calendar."

And then there is the calendar. Waiting and waiting and waiting for deadlines. Also a really weak part of P5 for me and Royal doesn't change this.  But after the end of the Okumura dungeon, the game is amazing again. Some of the character writing could be better...

I am still not sure how I feel about the third semester. Someone described it as an OVA or a movie. And yeah, that's the perfect description. It still feels detached, despite Sumi and Maruki being in the main game. Yet,  I think Maruki's story really carries it.

I still can't call the third semester the best plot in megaten for me, imo, but it is very high and I can't find too many faults with it. At the very least, it was nice seeing everyone's dreams come true. But I couldn't help but think about a certain paradox boy...

Other factors:

I think Atlus censorship to drag for Ryuji was weird.

 Last Surprise and the OG P5 opening are better 

The final OG ending is better than the P5R one. 

I liked Mishima and Morgana much more this time around.

 Overall, an amazing game with some flaws here and there.

I’m reading these asks and it’s super interesting to me to see the different perspectives and the insight you’re giving to the characters! (Also I sent you that long ass ask so thank you so much for taking the time to reply and explain things!!) I personally didn’t even catch on to the whole reader’s unfairly keeping Atsumu at arms length thing and idk if I didn’t read thoroughly or I’m just dim LOL I always interpreted it as like they both like each other and want to be bf/gf eventually but both were taking things slow for various reasons which felt super normal. also 3 weeks is such a short amount of time like I feel like you can be really into a person but still want to take more time to gauge the situation u know!! I didn’t really see reader as like “leading him on” or being a tease or anything like that (ngl i hate the word tease shhfjdgdskks 😂 especially if a man uses it I wanna barf like no stop I’m literally just trying to be a nice person), more so they were just being flirty and having friendly-maybe-more-than-friendly banter kinda?

It’ll be really interesting to see some of Atsumu’s pov because I wonder if he had different, more “serious” expectations for y/n from the get go. And if he did why he didn’t communicate it earlier on? I don’t think y/n is doing anything wrong being cautious around him, especially cause she’s used to seeing him sleep around a lot (not that there’s anything remotely wrong with that if there’s 2 consenting adults) but it still is what it is and she’s going off information that she’s gathered in over the course of not even a full semester and its honestly pretty smart for her to wait a bit longer and be like.. is he actually serious about this? I don’t fault her for at all that!!

As for the Maki kiss/going back to the dorm thing…… BIG SIDE EYE FOR Y/N 👀 that was very questionable on her part!! I understand caring for Maki and entertaining the one last kiss thing because it was clear she didn’t instigate that but then the part where she wanted to continue?! Was that a moment of weakness and just her remembering the old times with Maki or what?! I really wonder what was going on in her mind during that moment. Im glad he shut it down gently! Honestly the more I think about it the better Maki looks ASHFBDH (I need to stop this here and reel myself in cause this is an Atsumu fic) (but also just putting it out there….. if .. there was a maki alt ending…… I would absolutely devour that for breakfast lunch and dinner)

oh my gosh yes okay. this means the world to me because like i write these responses and replies and i don't ever really assume anyone will read or care about them does that make sense? and i try to communicate all of these thoughts in my fics but i forget sometimes that i'm in my head and you all are not! so the things and details i weave in there can definitely get lost.

but i think that's why for me when i got all of this stuff where people were like HEY ATSUMU is a bitch and like yea no that's so fair he really is in this chapter but don't see or point out how messy the relationship is and how yn actually doesn't really hold it against him for like sleeping with people while they were talking and stuff because she realizes that they aren't exclusive, not just as a technicality but because yeah sure she has feelings for him but she keeps reminding herself that she doesn't want more than that, otherwise when they spent the night together during the whole movie thing, they wouldve spent the night together.

i think especially at the end of ch4 with the whole movie date and her like wanting atsumu to come into her dorm, but failing to communicate it or do anything to reciprocate what his efforts to cross this barrier of just flirting friends, is a really important insight into the relationship? like if she would've communicated that she wanted him to cross this barrier, he would've, but he doesn't, because she doesn't, and he doesn't want to like,,, push something too far? i explain it better in the next chapter? his thoughts about it and stuff and a tiny insight into his POV.

AND ALSO even just in the first time they meet. he evidently wants to have sex with her and she shuts it down really fast. AND after spring break, the first time that she hears him having sex with someone else after they've flirted and become somewhat friends, it's devastating to her? but it's all a result of him trying to feel out if she actually wants it or not. ANYWAYS yea just a lot of little things? that are sometimes hard to pick up on completely because of the lack of atsumu's POV BUT i think that makes it ?? hurt more and feel more serious? because !!! ?!?!? you're only seeing these little glimpses of him hurt and then the way that he tries to cope with it rather than really understand why he's doing it and how he's thinking. and as a READER i want you to like, feel torn up abt that shit? and be confused because like,,, you have to decipher and feel the stuff as it comes based on what he gives you not what's objectively true. does that MAKE SENSE?

hi!! i am doing well and even better after reading ur lovely words <3 and i am so sorry this took so long for me to answer! it took a while to get my thoughts in order and make it coherent

scarlett!! it has been so long since i've thought about her! she was my emotional support character from the years of 2016 – 2019 and that was the last time i wrote anything for her so i'm gonna have to reach into the deepest depths of my brain which will be interesting!

warnings for mentions of: abuse, suicide, drug and alcohol addiction

so i actually have three (3) different universes for scarlett. there's the original one based on the movie adaptation that i wrote like two? sequels for, then an au that was based solely on the stage production, and then another au that, if i recall correctly but i’m a little hazy on it, combines both BUT april ericson (aka roger's girlfriend who died before the start of the plot) is alive! that one (satellite call, which i link in my masterlist & on my characters page) is my favorite and honestly it's the one i consider the True Story now, if that makes sense. it's also the best-written of the three, the others are Not That Good,,, there’s a lot about all of the fics i would change if i rewrote them now, but they did get me through those horrible, horrible three years so moving on!

u asked to know all about her and my solution to that is to give you a quick-and-concise scarlett backstory in bullet points and give it headings so that it's easier to read! (okay maybe not THAT quick and concise) (i talked so much.........i tried to rewrite it to make it feel like i’m not just info-dumping but every time i tried to make it even more concise it didn’t make any sense so this is what we’re going with lol) (and like...all of this is just the tip of the iceberg honestly. like the most basic of details)

1971 – 1989-ish

she was born in georgia to an emotionally neglectful family in the same town where april ericson (listen i know TECHNICALLY she's not mine and technically larson created her, but that was just like 2 lines in the show and i've adopted her as my own) grew up, so they knew each other. april’s a year older than scarlett. scarlett’s mom named her after the protagonist in gone with the wind and scarlett HATES that so much

when scarlett was a teenager, she started dating april's younger brother will, who was not a good person. he was abusive and all-around The Worst

april eventually caught on and helped scarlett escape, but it wasn’t easy. scarlett attempted suicide, was found by april barely in time, and was in a coma for close to two weeks iirc, but after she woke up and started getting better she was able to break up with will. in the aftermath, scarlett ended up spending more and more time with april, who she was starting to view as a sister after already viewing her as her savior

around the time of scarlett's high school graduation, april invited her to move to nyc with her to get away from everything that happened and put physical distance between them and will. scarlett agreed and they found an apartment together in alphabet city and april found scarlett a therapist to help process her trauma and her ptsd from the abuse

1992-ish (?) – 1995

i can't remember how many years after that it was but eventually scarlett meets the characters of rent and introduces april and roger, who obviously hit it off

meanwhile scarlett, who has not been in a relationship since will and is too afraid to even ponder the thought, starts falling for mark (who was with maureen at the time) but keeps pushing down her feelings for him even after they break up because she doesn't want to be hurt again.

for the record, scarlett/mark was to 2016 – 2019 me what mara/jonathan from my mummy fic are to present-day me and i think it's very obvious how much i love mara and jonathan to give u an idea shdjfk

so the april-roger drug addiction happens, at some point both of them contract hiv and april dies by suicide, as mentioned in the show/movie. scarlett is the one who finds her (remember when i said april was the one who found scarlett after her own suicide attempt?) which changes everything for her

scarlett's always been a closed book so she's never opened up about her past to the others. they didn't even know she was seeing a therapist until april died. this doesn’t change after april's death, they still don’t know anything about her past, but she worries a lot about roger and worries about him relapsing or choosing the same route april did.

depending on which story we're talking about, things after that go pretty much as rent itself goes. mark's always the first person scarlett opens up to about will and how she really knew april, and it's always after angel's death. that's pretty much the one thing that doesn't change throughout the three universes. satellite call (aka the April Lives AU is my favorite of the three because i had always loved writing the scarlett-april flashbacks in the other ones and wondering how things would change in the story if april was alive was so so interesting to me. the most notable thing that changes for scarlett in that one is how her path goes. it diverges so much from the other stories so i'll talk about that a little!

THE SATELLITE CALL YEARS

obviously the biggest thing in her life in this au is that april lives, and she doesn't lose the person she views as her savior and as a sister. so april recovers, she goes to rehab, she gets a therapist like scarlett does, and tries to move forward with scarlett at her side. so in a way, at this point they're kind of codependent

the important thing to mention about this au is that here scarlett is approached by the same dealer that supplied april and roger to buy some pills from him multiple times, and by the time angel starts getting sick and they realize he's dying, she just wants the pain she feels to end. and that starts the biggest change in this story: scarlett's drug and alcohol addiction

i can't remember why i wrote it this way or why i chose this route for her, but i know that looking at it now, this path for her makes the most sense to me out of all the paths her story has taken in all the stories i wrote for her

it does offer up a "two sides of the same coin" dynamic between scarlett and april. they have a lot more in common than they think, which is why things blow up majorly between them around the time of angel's death. like it gets BAD. but it leads to scarlett confessing her addictions to mark, who along with april and collins, helps her into rehab

i....haven’t written anything past that........i do remember most of what was supposed to happen in the second half of satellite call but like i mentioned at the top of the post i haven’t written for her in 3 years :( i’m hoping i’ll get to come back to her one day though and write the rest of that story :)

I thought I'd make a proper introductory post since I want to start actively using my blogs more, rather than just being a lurker. Despite being on this site for YEARS I've never really interacted with other users. I wanna change that!

So, hi! My professional name is Lillian RS, but you can call me Max or Lian. I'm a queer writer who likes to write queer stories (of course). At the time of writing this, I'm currently 21. I identify as genderqueer and genderfluid, and use they/he/she pronouns. I'm a bi grayromantic graysexual, but LOVE fictional romance and sex (when it's done well). Just don't touch me IRL for the love of the gods.
