Rincewind from the Discworld series gives me really similar vibes to TMA's Jonathan Sims or Tossawary's Shang QingHua.
Coward who is simultaneously really clever and a total dumbass. Scared of literally everything, seriously, so much anxiety. Do Not Want anything to do with the main plot. Please let them rest, they're So Tired, So Done.
Often underestimated, even by themselves.
Sarcastic little shits.
The SHITTIEST LUCK imaginable. Pessimistic as a result. Neglected during childhood/distant or entirely absent parents/guardians.
Nobody thinks they're hero material, least of all them, And Yet!
I don't know what the fuck this character type is but I love it dearly.

No, see, but it's not.
Because Neville Longbottom IS brave. He grows into the shape of a hero beautifully and easily, once push comes to shove; it just takes him a while to know it. He was brave from the start, he just didn't seem like it, and lacked confidence.
Neville's the Late Bloomer Hero, but he's still MADE to be a hero, and you can tell. (Also, he's not a main character, which is kind of integral to what I'm talking about).
The thing with QingHua and Rincewind is they really, actually aren't. They're genuine cowards, and total assholes, if mostly loveable ones. It's not that they don't think they're capable, they actually don't want to be helpful most of the time, and just keep getting forced into it.
What I'm talking about is more like an anti-hero, but one's with a very specific vibe. They're protagonists who are really bad at being protagonists, and genuinely would rather be left alone to continue their ways. They get dragged kicking and screaming into their character growth, it's hilarious.
