I find it weird how people say that black people with lighter skin tones are NOT black... I've dealt with multiple people thinking they understand more about my identity than I do, they claim that I'm not dark enough, but I still suffer from racism because of my skin color, they claim I'm not welcome in black spaces, but I'm also not welcome in white spaces, or even worse they treat like the racism I suffer from is less validating than the racism a dark skinned black person would suffer.... This is a phenomenon that I see happening a lot here in Brazil for some reason, it's like we are unwelcome everywhere... A white person thinks I'm too dark, a black person thinks I'm too light??? Where do I belong??
#theo is rambling again#i swear I have curly hair. afro descendant facial features. dark skin and people STILL claiming I'm not black??? ๐#I even remember one time a white person randomly said to me that I wasn't allowed to say the n word.....#and it was??? so random??? because I never use that word?? I don't know ehy they said that#i don't use it because it's not familiar from my native language#I think the only thing that I say that could be interpreted as a slur is viado and even then I'm clearly allowed to use it#crazy phenomenon. I don't know why these people think they know more about me than I do#anyway enough rambling...
