I've been playing a lot of Totk lately and just finished the game. Random thoughts about Tulin:

I'm a huge fan of Gohan but I think what I like about Tulin over Gohan is that Tulin is actually really confident. Like even though he's the youngest (I think younger than Riju?) out of the group, he tends to act like a leader, diving in first/speaking first/etc. But unlike Gohan who dives in with a lot of anger and then burns out and needs guidance to keep fighting, Tulin fights confidently and competently alongside Link.

🏳️‍🌈 - Orientation

Yam's one of those characters whose sexuality I don't think about much? Like, I ship him with whoever I think he'd be cute with, gender not really playing a part in it. I will say, Bi Yamcha is fun for the thought of him growing up being horribly shy around women, and it just took him a hilariously long time to realize he liked men too.

(I was gonna complain about how I'm not good at angst and then I went a little ham on this one lmao)

Okay okay here's what I got: Gohan obviously looks a lot like his father, but the resemblance was strongest when he was a young teenager. After Goku died in the Cell Games, Yamcha vowed to be there for the Son family no matter what. But it got really difficult at times, looking at Gohan and seeing the likeness. Then it got even harder when Goten was born, because oh god it's like seeing kid Goku all over again.

But he's a strong guy and sees it through, expressing his grief among friends when it crops up again (he's not the only one who lost Goku that day, and it helps to talk). He sees Gohan grow up too, and he looks more like his own person, and Yamcha takes quiet relief in that fact.

Nail:

💖 - Happy

This is something @sternbagel is already aware of, but I love the idea that Nail is into gardening. It's a peaceful hobby that requires dedication and patience, two things he has in spades (and I promise that pun was accidental). He's a warrior namekian, but can "heal" in the sense that he can bring just about any plant back from the brink.

🌌 - Zodiac

(I feel like whenever I gotta look up zodiac traits I get different answers every time, for this i'm just gonna pull from astrology-zodiac-signs.com)

Taurus! "Reliable, patient, practical, devoted, responsible, stable." Also the first interest on that page said "gardening" so fuck yeah.

Piccolo: 😋 - Funny/stupid

Look I've had this rant before but Piccolo is 100% aware of his reputation and aesthetic and he'll make a conscious effort to keep that up. He will do dramatic shit just to look aloof and cool, even if he won't ever admit it out loud.

Actually I'll do a little of this rant again because my brain is a bitch and you all have the power to ignore this post. I can think of two examples from Bojack Unbound alone: first one is his fight with Krillin in the beginning where he's just standing the way he always does, Krillin runs in, completely misses and goes off the edge of the cliff, only for Piccolo to catch him by the back of his gi, and even though he does that he's still looking dramatically off into the distance. But he had to step closer to the cliff to catch Krillin, i.e. get out of the position he was in, and he still maintained that "I'm the coolest mf on this rock" stance.

Then LATER the Special Beam Cannon that comes in from off screen?? He's always taken a certain stance to fire that off. But in this instance when he actually shows up on camera a second later, he's doing his Cool Guy Stand again with his cape in the wind. That tells me he did the attack and then immediately stood up straight so he'd look cool when Gohan saw him and that is hilarious to me.

Okay If you were to rank the DB arcs ( and I know not every uses arcs but I’ll explain) how would you rank them.

1: hunt for the dragon ball arc ( Bulma meets Goku to defeating Pilaf)

2: 21st tournament arc

3: red ribbon army arc

4: 22nd tournament arc

5: king piccolo arc

6: 23rd tournament arc

7: Sayian arc (raditz shows up to defeating Vegeta)

8: Frieza arc

9: Cell arc (Frieza returns to defeating Cell)

10: Buu arc

1. 22nd Tournament arc aka The Tenshinhan Saga- I mean the whole tournament was so well paced and fun to watch without even factoring in my all encompassing love of bastard Tien, and the Absolute Bullshit he and Yamcha were on- I've rewatched it so many times and it's really still my fave. 2. King Piccolo saga, honestly again this is because of Tien Largely but I also think it was a really well done saga- Their was actual stakes- for once it seemed like the gang might actually not come out on top . The deaths of Krillin, Chiaotzu and Roshi we're legitimately upsetting and seeing Yamcha bond with Tien was just a cherry on top- Also King Piccolo and his kids were just such good villains.

3. 23rd Tournament arc- Again this has a lot to do with Tien and his fight with Tao, along with the training we got to see him and Yamcha do in the lead up, and one of my absolute fav moments of the series were Yamcha silent comforts Tien and encourages him on- All in all my faves got some really nice and poignant episodes. Bonus points for Yamcha doing the spirit ball and smacking god. 4. Frieza arc aka YAMTIEN ON KING KAI'S PLANET ARC- That's literally all I need to say. My boys were dead and together and piccolo was there and I had a great time.

5.Hunt for the Dragon Balls aka Bandit Yamcha 🥺💖 I love Baby Goku and I love baby Yam and I love the start of db even if it is wack bc I watched it when I was so small and bandit yamcha was seared in my brain.

6.Saiyan arc- Baby Gohan 🥺 Piccolo bonding with the baby 🥺 baseball Yam 🥺 My boys training at kames 🥺 Let's not talk about the fight tho <3

7. Cell arc I love 90% for the YamTien content they gave us BUT the androids and cell really were good fun as villains and tween Gohan makes me emo 😔💖

8.21st tournament arc- Good fun, bandit outfit and the moon got blown up!

9. Red ribbon army arc- Honestly I do enjoy this a lot, especially Suno and eighter 💖🥺 and Baby Goku

10. Buu saga- This shit went on for way to long. Thank you for asking my dearest anon 💖💖

Okay here are some thoughts I've spammed to my friends in the last few days! (BTW I read the manga already for the first game so I basically spoiled it but I was still equally as shocked when these things happened in the game lol)

By the way, spoilers below for anyone who hasn't played!

General thoughts:

SORA IS SOOOOOOOOOO CUTE 🥺 The voice actor voiced him PERFECTLY, he's exactly the perfect combination of hopeful, friendship, little kid, strong heart, over confident at times, stubborn, sweet. 😭💖

Told a friend I love Sora in a different way than I love Gohan, here were my thoughts: Gohan is more quiet, sweet, gentle, burdened with a lot of power that he seems hesitant to use and slowly builds his confidence throughout the show, I relate to Gohan a lot, sweet cinnamon roll that must be protecc, but forced to protecc others, etc etc Sora is sweet and gentle but loud, has a HUGE heart and he uses it to protect his friends with 100% confidence (he's more like Goku in that way), his heart is just unwavering and he doesn't seem to doubt himself often (at least in KH1), funny and goofy and his stubbornness can get him into trouble sometimes but his bonds with his friends give him strength, I don't relate to him but I would love to draw inspiration from him

Riku is so insanely jealous of Sora it's hilarious, he's overall kind of a jerk and even Kairi said she wanted to leave the island without him, but also Riku is 15 and hormonal and Maleficent got to him so I don't really blame him for it

Donald and Goofy are way less annoying than I assumed they would be, I like that they seem refreshingly mature?? Donald is stubborn and beefs with Sora a lot and Goofy seems like he has a good head on his shoulders and is a deep thinker

Also I keep seeing memes of Donald constantly getting knocked out in game and being useless but for me Donald ALWAYS comes in clutch with the elixirs and ethers

That scene where Maleficent tells Riku that Sora replaced him and Kairi with Donald and Goofy was sad in both the manga and the game but what REALLY made my jaw drop was that SORA LOWKEY FELT THE SAME:

(Yes he was fighting with Donald at the time too but LOOK AT HIS FACE!!! 😭🙏)

If Riku talked to Sora for more than 10 seconds at a time literally all of this would be resolved XD LIKE!! Sora is literally trying to find them! Riku please!

This scene had my sister and I's JAWS ON THE FLOOR:

It was low blow after low blow! I read this in the manga too but somehow it hit harder in the game!

Hollow Bastion is a great OST and I've been listening to it on repeat. The map is also pretty nice but I wish I could explore more without heartless appearing every 5 seconds

Actually I also liked the OST "A Day in Agrabah"

I beat Riku's ass in 10 seconds and it was glorious (Ansem is a whole other story...still working on it)

DID I MENTION SORA HAS SUCH A KIND AND SWEET AND STRONG HEART!?

Every single cutscene had the words "light" "darkness" "friendship" "heart" "memories" repeated over and over again to form a cutscene (I saw this in a Youtube video and thought it was incredibly accurate XD)

My sister and I were CRACKING UP during this cutscene because it made NO SENSE

It just kept getting more and more non-sensical XD

I think Aladdin was my favourite world so far but tbh they were all pretty cool (Sora's Halloween Town fit was so cute! Also I loved flying around by Big Ben, and then getting the glide feature)

The Maleficent Dragon boss was really hard, cool, and fun; Tinker Bell really came in clutch

Also I gotta say this game is really hard to play because the control are so annoying, the jump function is annoying (I keep falling off and misjudging his jump), it keep glitching cause it's connected to the cloud or something, the directions are too vague so I have to follow a walkthrough while playing, and I have to keep stopping between plays because I get motion sickness from the wildly spinning camera really easily -- despite all that I am indeed having a blast

I think that's all my thoughts for now :3
