I'm a Scorpio and I hold a heavy grudge against Homestuck for taking my ~$200 and making the worst Kickstarter video game imaginable 4 years after we cared lol. But.... I still love those little guys. I still quite some shit near daily. It was a big thing for my friend group.

i never donated to the kickstarter but i do have all the games lmao. i really like pesterquest and the hiveswap friendsim but i havent finished hiveswap act 1 yet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

1. I went to a small neighborhood cafe a week ago, yes. And got a $2 tea. Because I was out all day and couldn’t afford lunch, but peppermint tea is an appetite suppressant so it would get me through til I could get home. (Edit bc I misread this the first time) I’m not buying shit online?? If ur talking about the homestuck hoodie I mentioned that was something I had saved for in the past because I knew the 10th anniversary was coming, which I didnt actually buy. I dont document every minute of my life and every cent I do or dont spend because I have a life, but I make sure to be as transparent as I can about my situation because I know plenty of people have concerns about people online asking for money.

2. Food banks exist? I’m eating, but not well. I’ve actually been losing weigh because my diet at the moment is mostly instant ramen, mac and cheese, and the free fries I get from work.

3. Did you even read my donations post lmao I literally announced when I got a new job. I literally just finished training and was hired for full time but I wont get paid for another week or two and havent gotten a paycheck in 2 months, so things are still Not Good at the moment.

4. Literally I fucking know my life is fucked??? This isnt news to me. It isnt news to my friends and followers. I was in a bad place and I’m working on getting better, theres no shame in asking for help imo. Fuck off or message me off anon if you really want to go off.

as for how i got into homestuck? well, way back in middle school, around when i was 11/12, when hs was, like, in its prime, i heard a whole lot about it and saw it EVERYWHERE because, like, i used wattpad a lot and i was in the hetalia fandom (gross, i know) and ofc there was a lot of overlap with the two fandoms, so i often got messages like oh you should check out homestuck blah blah blah and eventually i was like fiiine okay ill watch it (i thought it was an anime, LMAO). but like i couldnt figure out how it worked, AT. ALL. because like i didnt have a computer so i was on my shitty little kindle fire tryna read it but the format was all wrong and it was hella difficult to read on mobile and i didnt really Get It so i just stopped trying!

cut to around 2017-2018, im 14, im dating a really nice person, you know the works. i dont know why but i was like hey, lets read homestuck! and by this time like homestuck obv had its own website so it was much easier to read on mobile, because i STILL did not have a laptop, but for some reason i STILL did not end up getting into it. i dont talk to my ex anymore but i think they got into it, or at least read it? but to be fair at the time i was going through a really rough time with my parents and foster care, so its not like i really had a whole lot of patience to really read it

now we lead into around august 2018. i am now 15 at this point, and im out of foster care, my life is as stable as its gonna get, im nose deep into fmab, you get the point. so like i start talking to finn @liquidstar (shoutout 2 u) and theyre telling me SO MUCH about homestuck and we played a couple games where they took the signs off the trolls’ sprites and i had to guess who was which, and they explained some aspects of homestuck to me and all of this just.. really piqued my interest! finn told me a whole lot about hs and really if they hadnt done that i likely wouldve never gotten into homestuck. so like i started reading homestuck around that time (i wish i had gotten the date, agh) and the rest is history!

i actually havent even finished homestuck cos, man, im busy as fuck and im a slow reader when it comes to hs but i really wanna try finishing before 4/13 so we’ll see!

the thing about homestuck is that i read it when i was fourteen, and then i never reread it. so a lot of my opinions are very basic I Love Rose Lalonde opinions rather than Extensive Thoughts About Her Character And Arc opinions. which is one reason ive been wanting to reread it! i have a Homestuck Reread Twitter at @homestuck_sorry but i havent updated it in half a month; however, i Am Going To Reread Homestuck. i should post more on tumblr about it - i always get kind of weird and squirrely abt Making Tumblr Posts bc i have weird standards for myself, but like. its fine.

i love rose lalonde. as a kid i was “smart” (as in i read a lot of books) but really quiet and like. socially stunted. i really loved rose lalonde when first reading homestuck partly because i latched onto every Smart Girl character. since first reading homestuck ive had… a lot… of personal revelations about like, familial neglect, and the grief and anger what has to do with it. ive also grown a lot, very literally - its been over half a decade, and im now Decisively Older Than Her, which changes my perspective a lot! i think when i first read homestuck i was probably kind of in awe of rose’s self-expressiveness: having interests and feeling very strongly about them and Actually talking about them to other people was really… wild to me. at the time. and her having a contentious relationship with her family and actually expressing that… again. wild. 

im really excited to reread homestuck and get to that good good content! i think ive gotten to some of her logs but shes not in the game yet. i need to get there and see her Fuck Shit Up i love  her. i love that she has.. an arc… about Grief And Anger And Fucked Up Parent Shit. i think itll be really interesting to reread that now that i like… Can Read, because i developed the skill of “reading” at like age four but developed the skill of “being able to have and somewhat articulate opinions about the things i read” at like. age nineteen-twenty. whoops. 

ok tho if im saying “rose lalonde has an arc about” i need to qualify that: im mad about rose’s arc just getting fucking Dropped at the end of homestuck. i realize that homestuck was a fucking Monster of a narrative and like, i understand why hussie just kind of was like fuck it im done, but also like. rose lalonde is a goddamn Icon and youre gonna do her dirty like this??? what the fuck. god. 

actually i think one of the reasons i was like ‘i gotta reread homestuck’ was that i was kind of like Hey What IF I Wrote Homestuck Fixitfic which….. i might do LMAO. i will probably at the very least make vague plans or even more specific plans for. something. idk. 

i think i did have the concept ‘what if rose got the meta rewrite powers instead of john’ which i do like a lot still even if i dont quite recall EXACTLY what went down near the end of homestuck. so i guess look out for that in a couple of years once i finish actually reading it (joke. but also. given the pace im rereading at… Possibly Not Joke)

but the fact remains that even if they lost 800k, they still have zero to show with the other 1.7million they made 3 years AFTER the initial release date

release date is key, too, because the kickstarter began in 2012. thats 5 years ago. according to that reddit post, The Odd Gentlemen fucked over hussie for 8 months (ok, they were secretive af for 8 months, didnt show him anything, and hussie was like “lmao aight”?? something smells fishy), after which Hussie sued. this wouldve been somewhere in 2013 I assume, since the kickstarter ended in december 2012 and I assume development started pretty quickly after because schedules. 

So ok, logically Hussie sued in 2013. June 2014 he updated for the first time in months, saying the game would come out late that year. Uh, what? If shit was already going on with The Odd Gentlemen, obviously you’d expect some delays if you’re missing almost an entire year of development. Why didn’t he mention that earlier? Keep in mind June 2014 was the original release date. The court stuff would’ve been going on for a year at LEAST by this time, if it wasn’t finished yet. Why didn’t he mention delays earlier?

October 2014 he announced the new development plans. He also said they’d be testing the game within the first half of 2015. None of that happened. This was AFTER the court stuff. So even IF they got ripped off, they’re still being shady as fuck. Testing the game was supposed to be in 2015, yet all we got was a 50 second teaser. There havent been any new updates. No screenshots, teasers, videos, for 2 years now. After the court shit was finished.

So yeah. I dont trust em.
