Propaganda under the cut
Johnny Cage: "He's such an asshole and he's kinda stupid. He literally thought the tournament where you fight to the death was a movie set (he was told that but come on man, context clues. The lizard spitting acid is not special effects homie, it's an alien 🙄). He's a jerk at first but he learns to work together with the others to save the realm!!! While keeping his obnoxious personality in tact!!! He gets the hot blond girl somehow and then canonically gets divorced lol. He has his name tattooed on his chest. He's got green superpowers and fights a god but honestly, that's not very important."
Mitsuki Akika "He's an inquisitive person who others have a difficult time pinning down. Now let me tell you that this guy has covered several vocaloid songs in the series, and has a scenario drama cd of his "acting". Basically he plays a character that is the main character's childhood friend, and they recently started dating 6 months ago though she still views him as an 'older brother' figure and he starts feeling insecure…(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeoGUYN0SII&list=PLpkI-7_0esiaU4az-owytYyBjYhXfkaCJ) I heavily indulge in that CD. Going back to the songs though, there's Sarishinohara (https://youtu.be/5mPKASXfnow), Ifuudoudou, yes you heard that right and also! there's no weird noises at the start.. although the cover is of another character: Natsume, this is officially a Mitsuki song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Efv_dvmQ3kc) and Koshitantan, another Umetora song. (https://youtu.be/RCHbmtz_uAs)
This guy has too much voice rizz, I haven't even known the lore to the franchise other than they're you know… actors and they do song covers, but listening to that Koshitantan cover rearranged my brain chemistry."

Long Time, No See
Hi everyone, ひさしぶり! I know it's been over a year since I posted on this blog (T_T) Life and work got busy, so I've had less time to sit and translate things. Also, I haven't followed the Tsukiuta/Tsukipro fandom and close as I used to since their content hasn't interested me in a while. I still consider myself a big fan though and I still listen to their music!
With news from the last few months of the writer, Fujiwara, moving onto other projects, I can see why Tsukino Productions content has slowed down. I hope that whoever takes over the writing for the series does well and is able to provide more content for years to come!
I hope to still translate some content here and there, but with no regular posting schedule. A huge thank you to everyone who follows this blog!! <3 My CDJapan Affiliate link is still active if you'd like to purchase any Japanese CDs/BDs/character goods, including the new Tsukino Productions releases! I'm patiently waiting for more unit songs!!

Hello! I'd love to get into Milgram but I'm not sure how to go about it. I understand that it's over now, but could you suggest a good way to experience the story?
Hello!! Sorry that this took a sec for me to get back to, I wanted to make sure that I was thorough!
For starters, it's very important that I emphasize that Milgram is not over!! The voting is still taking place and we are only about halfway through the interactive thing, so don't worry, you haven't missed it!
Getting into Milgram can be a bit daunting if you're still figuring it out, so I'm happy to help! I'll be explaining roughly how I went about it, because I think it went pretty well.
I also made this playlist:
If you want, instead of using this guide, you can just go through the playlist instead of reading it, but I'd recommend following along! If you want to have the playlist open though, it'll probably help the guide make more sense as I go through it.
I'll break this guide up into parts because it's gonna be pretty long.
PART 1: WHAT IS MILGRAM?
Milgram is an interactive video project in which 10 prisoners, who are all connected to a murder, produce music videos through a machine that give details about themselves, their lives and their crimes.
At the end of each round (which is called a trial), we as a fanbase vote whether we think they're guilty/unforgivable or innocent/forgivable (exact translations vary). There are 3 rounds, so each prisoner gets a total of 3 verdicts. The last one is the only one that sticks, but earlier verdicts influence the prisoners and what songs and information we get along the way.
That's the basic gist. Jackalope (the host of Milgram) explains it in his "This is the MILGRAM" video, which I highly recommend watching to get a better sense. You should also watch the character trailer, which gives you some quick insight into who each of the prisoners are before you watch their videos.
Es's one and only MV, UNDERCOVER, also goes here. Es is the warden, not a prisoner (unless you're theorizing), but they still get an MV (and a cover and audio drama -- more on that shortly) before the first trial. Watch it; it's a great song, gives you some quick insight into each of the prisoners, and has plenty of fuel to theorize about! Though, if you're going to get theorizing, I recommend coming back to tackle UNDERCOVER after you finish your first watch through of Trial 1. It's hard to follow when you don't know the other characters very well yet.
PART 2: TRIAL ONE
If you want a glimpse of each of the Trial 1 songs, you can look at the Song of the Prisoners - First Trial Trailer video. Then, you'll proceed to the first song of Trial One: Weakness by Haruka.
The MV is the main part of any trial. You watch the MV, you listen to the song, you read the lyrics. I strongly recommend watching it a few times to gather your thoughts. Then, you can either work on developing your own theory, or you can get straight to reading others'. Obviously I'm biased, but I like to think my theories are pretty good, so if you want to check them out, they're all on our page's Master List, linked here.
Each prisoner's CD comes with two other things as well: a cover and an audio drama. You can find both of them on music streaming services under the character's name (I just use spotify).
The cover is just their VA doing a cover of one of DECO*27's many other songs (DECO*27 is a very popular vocaloid producer). These covers have been called "just for fun," but you can definitely speculate as to why specific ones were chosen, and even some of the VAs have speculated that they aren't as detached from the actual content as DECO claims.
The audio dramas are interrogations between Es and the prisoner, set right before Es extracts the MV from their mind. They give great insight, and especially in the second trial, they can contain critical information. I usually use @onigiriico's translations because they're extremely fast and accurate, but @milgrammer also has great and detailed records, and I used theirs for the early first trial ones. I typically read these after I watch the MV, but you could also definitely listen to them first to better place yourself in Es's shoes.
You can vote every day when a character is up for trial. I already did a pretty extensive guide on voting, so I'll just link that here for you to read if you're interested.
But yeah, basically just go through that same process for all of those, then watch Jackalope's report on the end of the first trial! Then, go to trial 2.
PART THREE: TRIAL TWO
This one's ongoing, so this is the current one!
At the beginning of the second trial, I'd really REALLY recommend watching Jackalope's second trial commencement notice video. It's super important moving forward.
We did get some info before that video came out, though. Here's my theory/thought post going over it if you want more details.
But yeah, just go through the MVs/theories/audio dramas/covers as you did in trial one! Currently we just did Shidou and Mahiru, so their voting periods are currently available.
Hope this helped! If anything is still unclear, please DM/comment/send another ask so I can clarify!

Vita, a Tales of Symphonia ‘fic (& podfic!)
Words: 4,112 words Summary: Half-elves can now attend formal schools as well as teach in them. They can join the church, attend the theater, walk into any medical facility and receive treatment, and practice medicine. But they cannot marry humans. Pairing/Character: Regal/Raine, Zelos gets some lines too. Warnings: Fantasy racism, procreative sex, and literal healing sex. Rating: Explicit Genre: Oops! All Tenderness. This skews heavily into romance and longing and is ultimately a happy story. You're welcome.
The title is the link to Ao3.
Link to the podfic: here! If you have issues listening, let me know.
Notes are under a cut.
Inspiration pulled heavily from I Fell in Love Again Last Night. I very nearly named this story after the song.
These lines mess me up the most:
I fell in love again last night When you kissed me the way you've always done Like the first time you were with me and my heart just came undone
The whole mana/vita thing is pulled from a meta I wrote: Boltzman's Theory of Vitality (and The Manavita Effect).
--
Regarding Regal's apartment in Meltokio: I go to this option so often because it feels plausible. I'm sure he spends quite a bit of time there.
Half-elves and humans not being able to marry is just something I made up for this story. That said, I think it's probably more likely to be canon than not, especially in Tethe'alla.
The incident in Flanoir was a hate crime and Raine was the intended target. This could be its own story, though in here it's just a mention and serves to explain her chronically poor health.
Aisha and Harley are me just making stuff up. I always sorta just...wondered about them, I think. I could have just as easily gone with Linar and Harley, but Linar seems to have a crush on Raine.
Viscount Alaric is from Break Open the Sky. He's a minor character who will have a bigger role in Swallow the Ground. He supports half-elf rights (not always for the right reason) and has some sway with the other minor nobles.
Regal's father: I pulled this from the drama CD, at least to the degree that he bought votes and threatened people to get what he wanted. I think in Regal's current situation it would be hard not to feel despair at how, while things are changing, the change moves slowly. He could certainly buy more votes. But he is too honest a man to stoop that low, and it's one of the reasons Raine loves him.
Thaddeus is a name I always give to the most asshole male character I can find. It's a long story. Just know Regal's father fits the bill best in this fandom, so it's the name I'll use. He would definitely hate Raine.
Regal's anger about his mother is a headcanon I have that I still haven't managed to write into anything. I imagine she died while Regal was away at school, and all he got from his father was a short letter saying she was dead. He hates that he was forced away from her and to school, but he has never processed his anger and grief over the way his father handled his mother's death—as if it was an unimportant little footnote, hardly worthy of recognition.
Regal's father being a count. This is also a headcanon. While Regal was granted the title of Duke (or Grand Duke—the game low-key hints at this being the actual truth), I find it hard to believe the nobility wouldn't all hate him vehemently if he'd risen from nothing to the highest noble rank. The fact that the Bryant family has been wealthy more than 800 years (even before Tethe'alla was flourishing!) tells me they've always been a noble family, and the rise from count to duke isn't a large leap (even if the title is still deeply meaningful).
--
Procreative sex: I don't think these are characters that would moan about making babies. Like, it's very hard for me to picture Regal talking about how he's going to impregnate Raine while he's fucking her, even if getting her pregnant is what he's aiming for. That is especially true in this story, where there's a sort of sadness about even trying for a child. That said, they do try, so I had to tag it, even though it's maybe not what anyone expected when they saw the tag.
Also, the incident in Flanoir might have made her incapable of conceiving, though neither of them let themselves think about it at this point in the story.
--
I don't even know how to bring this topic up, but I do want to talk a little bit about the importance of marriage to these characters. I think if the person reading this story is of a marginalized group, they don't need to have this explained. Society has been shit for so long. Interracial marriage wasn't legal in the USA until 1967. Same-sex couples were not granted full marriage equality until 2015. And even now, disabled folks face discrimination and do not have equal rights, as they often lose their right to assistance the moment they marry.
These characters could live together and they could have children together, but we don't know how the Tales of Symphonia society will treat that behavior. If the Lezareno Company functions like a company (and according to the drama CD, it does), the board could simply remove him as president. Then what happens to him? What happens to the world when the most influential person in it can't exert any influence?
It's also important to note that they want marriage because they want the security marriage offers. Raine is likely to outlive Regal, and he wants to ensure that she, and any children he has with her, will be taken care of when he dies. If they simply live together and he dies, she (and any children) lose everything.
Marriage is a HUGE deal to them.
--
Healing!Sex. Uh, look. The way Regal's healing works in-game (the closer the target, the more he is able to heal) forced my hand. This concept was begging to be written and I'm surprised I haven't even seen it mentioned before.
Jokes aside, this is straight up a kink for them, and especially for Raine. There might be something to be said here for the healer wanting to be healed by someone else, but I was mostly just thinking about how she probably has a lot of violence directed at her, and sex with someone she loves and trusts while those hurts are healed is just...very emotionally and physically gratifying for her. (At least if they're having sex when he heals her, she gets pain and then pleasure, but if the healing is standalone she only gets the pain...which she's already experienced in sustaining the injury in the first place.)
Also, the whole ejaculation + release of vita into her thing just seemed like a way to tie the healing sex in with the fact that they are trying for a baby.
As to what I imagine the transfer of vita would feel like, I pretty much explained it in the story. Generally it just feels good in the way, say, a massage can feel good. But when it comes at certain times or from certain people, or there are emotions involved, or, you know, it comes along with sexual gratification, it can feel like a lot more.
I also had a small thought here that even if she doesn't have physical injuries, he can still transfer vita to her to help boost her energy levels and that will make her feel better, too, albeit in a slightly different way.
I also just thought it would be kind of funny that they could discover it by accident. I imagine she had her arm in that sling and refused help but he decided to help anyway when she wouldn't have the chance to argue about it lmao. Oops, new kink unlocked.
As to the sex position itself, it's just a side-by-side, like this:
Tumblr media
If he's trying to heal her while he fucks her, he'd have to choose something that wouldn't require too much thought or focus from him. This one is a good compromise where she can let him do the work at first, and then participate later when she's feeling better and they both want to get off.
--
I have no defense for "darling" as a pet name. I think he might also call her "dear" or "dearest" sometimes.
Raine calls Presea "dear" (affectionate) and Sheena "dear" (derogatory) in-game but she doesn't strike me as the kind of person who would be super into having pet names for her partner or being called by one.
Every now and then, though...she might like it. She just usually prefers her name.
--
"You're already my wife" is to show he already thinks of her this way.
It also references the earlier scene where Raine tells him he's a better husband than his father was. She thinks of him this way, too.
--
The first kiss in Meltokio was at the in-game party.
--
Regal crying had to happen. He's very empathetic and feels things deeply. What do you do when happiness comes with an immense and heavy relief? You cry.
I like the idea that post-game Zelos works hard to do his best at making the world a better place, and I wanted to include him here. He and Regal probably work together a lot and their alliance is to be feared and respected. The fact that Zelos supports him and his ideals even fifteen years later is a testament to his character and the reason Regal has remained friends with him.
Because he helped the change come about, Regal wants his name on their marriage license. (Raine would want this too, if I included her opinion.)
Her sleeping on the couch is me trying to subtly show she deals with fatigue a lot. Otherwise, she would have been waiting outside for Regal.
--
Regal has brought his mother's ring with him every year to vote.
I was attempting a slight culture difference between Sylvarant and Tethe'alla with weddings where rings are not common in Sylvarant but expected in Tethe'alla. Tethe'alla probably tends to have more elaborate ceremonies and Sylvarant veers toward simpler traditional things.
The last Sylvaranti wedding he attended was Colette's (to any partner you prefer teehee), but that was more than a decade ago.
--
I wanted to include SO MANY OTHER THINGS in this story, because any story 15 years into the post-game just brings up a lot of questions, like how Lloyd's expshere journey is going and who has married and who has children. I didn't even get to mention Genis in this story, which felt like a crime considering this law would matter to him, too, if only tangentially at this point.
If you couldn't tell, I really enjoyed writing this one. I even cried at one point. I hope someone out there enjoys it as much as I enjoyed working on it. 🤍💙

SNK Character Song Series 07: Erwin Smith (Image song & monologue translations)
Thanks for your patience!
Here is the second half of my translation, this time featuring Erwin’s image song & monologue!
(You can read Levi’s song & monologue translations here.)
Similar to the Levi post, I included the original Japanese and romaji versions of the song, and I also made a transcript of Erwin’s monologue in the original Japanese. You can read that one here.
Again, spoiler warning for details of Erwin’s entire character song CD, as well as one more plug for the official release :)

English Translation
I do not offer false hopes By dangling dreams in front It is nothing but bleak, but that is the way things are Sometimes the best policy is To sacrifice precious lives Defending until the end the path forward It is the theory of the battlefield Into the midst of this endless crisis I will continue to guide the soldiers Even if I have to abandon everything I will hold onto the hope of mankind I have stared myself sick gazing upon Humanity’s inferiority Nevertheless we have not yet perished For the weak ones who have not paid with sacrifice What sort of chances of winning are there? The opponents we must face Have been a menace for 100 years Into the midst of this endless crisis I will dive over and over again To search for fragments of the truth That is simply the hope of mankind Into the midst of this endless crisis I will continue to lead the soldiers I will cling to my unwavering faith Until my days come to an end It is cruel how the victims have fallen If I were to atone for these volunteers One life is not enough, but Perhaps it would after I have fallen into hell There is a limit to the decisions I make now but I believe we can build a tomorrow There’s no end to the things I’ve thrown away Even though the things I’ve gotten in return were few The ability to challenge is not down to zero There is still a possibility
++
Monologue English Translation
My father was a teacher. The course of my life was set in the classroom one day where my father was giving a history lesson.
Having doubts about the story of how humanity had been driven into these walls, I asked my father a naive question.
At the time, my father stayed silent, but after we returned home, he answered my question.
There were a great number of inconsistencies in the history book distributed by the monarchy.
Moreover, he had a theory that they were hiding an astounding truth.
I spread my father’s theory around to the neighborhood children.
There was no ill intention, it was an innocent act.
However, on the day in which those details were investigated by Military Police, my father died in an accident in a faraway town he had left for.
Of course, it was only ostensibly an accident. My father was killed at the hands of someone who disapproved of his theory.
Inside the walls, there are a portion of humans who indulge in a privileged life– their desires, as well as a foolish son tempted by innocent questions killed my father.
And then my father’s theory became my truth. Proving my father’s theory became my life’s mission.
Humans become titans, and titans become the walls.
In this world full of harsh paths, answering the question I put forth on that day is the meaning of my life, the reason why I was born.
It is for that reason that I came to lead the Survey Corps, giving commands to numerous subordinates: “Give up your life.”
Almost all humans who join the Survey Corps will die.
On their first expedition outside the walls, the probability that new recruits will become food for the titans is roughly 50 percent.
1 in 2 people will lose their life.
Just in the last 4 years, the Survey Corps lost the majority of its soldiers, and with the fall of Wall Maria, all of the results we had gained crumbled in an instant.
There is no guarantee that Survey Corps soldiers who dedicate their hearts for the sake of humanity will live tomorrow. The current condition is bleak.
However much we try to discuss our hopes and dreams, all of them will be easily crushed.
No matter how much we champion some great cause or become a sacrifice for someone else’s sake, the pay off is almost nothing.
And yet I have been ordering many soldiers to die.
I have been using gamble-like military strategies in order to fight against this cruel world.
A comrade who formerly aspired to join the Survey Corps with me fell in love with a girl from the bar we frequented, and he chose to protect her.
I too thought I could perhaps walk along that same kind of path.
But I chose the path of fighting titans over a girl I loved.
Even a person who chose a peaceful life and could spend their life happily will eventually die.
Hope? Or despair? When this small world is about to change, I am the only one who will choose my own path.
I am the only one who will choose the path I believe in.
Who is the enemy of this world?
The key that will save humanity from this despair is none other than humanity’s determination.
This firm determination is, above all, mankind’s hope.
Therefore, I have no choice but to go see the answers I want to know.
Even though I have lost my arm as well as many of my subordinates while carrying the wings of freedom on my back¹, I must continue to advance beyond the walls by fighting against this cruel world.
If we can manage to reach the basement of Eren Yeager’s home, surely we will be able to seize the key to freeing ourselves from control by titans which has lasted for 100 years.
The answer to the question I brought forth on that day is at a place right before my eyes, a place I can reach my hand toward and grab.
Everything is for the sake of my dream– my very own dream. For that purpose I have guided many soldiers, and have ordered them to die.
Mike.
Nanaba.
Gelgar.
Ness.
Eld.
Gunther.
Oluo.
Petra.
As well as every other soldier who has tragically fallen.
My one life is not enough, but eventually I will make up for it. After I have fallen into hell, certainly I will have the privilege to atone.
Certainly, without fail. But now is not the time.
No matter what it takes, I have to be present to witness the moment that the truth about this world becomes clear.
Even if I have to abandon everything.
My conviction is unwavering.
Translation note:
¹ Here the phrase 自由の翼を背負い/jiyū no tsubasa wo seoi (“carrying the wings of freedom on my back”) has a connotation of it being a heavy burden to bear. It looks similar to another phrase in Japanese, 十字架を背負う/jyūjika wo seō, which means “to have a cross to bear” or more figuratively, “to carry a heavy burden”.

hey, i've read your makarov fic (a man's weakness) in ao3 and then found your blog here. been reading some of your tags and now i'm curious as to what you have in store for makarov and the reader. they haven't met yet but i look forward to that moment. vladimir is a mysterious character, but the way you portray him is giving me the feels. btw i like your choice of music too. fitting for a story set in the nineties when he was just a young man.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello anon! Thank you so much for your asks, so happy that you’re enjoying the story so far and I’m sorry that I’m taking so long to update. There should be a new chapter this month, since I’ve been working on it c:
IKR! Vladimir is definitely a mystery to many of us since there’s so little information about him in the games, and the devs didn’t bother to explain many things about his past… which sucks because there are some important events of the story that should have been given more depth. In my opinion, Vladimir is an interesting character once you get to know the story behind his actions (which totally doesn’t justify them, of course) and it’s so sad that the writers lost their chance to make an amazing antagonist. Vladimir had a lot of potential but it was wasted.
Thanks! We can’t forget that Vladimir was once a young lad of twenty-something back then, so nineties music it is c:
This is one of my favorite songs, released in 1992, and the first time I listened to it in the 2000s (thanks to my sis who bought the CD) I was mind-blown and kept replaying the track over and over again. Years later I still do that. And it probably fits the mood of what I’ve pictured Vladimir’s life was like during those years.
youtube
The nineties were a key moment for Vladimir, the years that changed it all for him and shaped him into a ruthless criminal.
The Soviet Union had dissolved in 1991 and many republics declared their independence. Asides from a myriad of other problems, the economy in Russia was… well, pretty disastrous and many people were having a hard time while few became rich overnight.
Not long after Vladimir returns from Chechnya, he is charged with war crimes and forced to drop from the armed forces. That means he lost his job (and an important part of his life, as a career soldier). He didn’t have a single penny on him, the war left him with psychological problems that made it difficult for him to readjust to civilian life (regardless of the bad stuff he might have done in Chechnya), and on top of that he was labeled a criminal by the UN. By his own government, when in his mind he was only serving his country. The fact they were so willing to quickly get rid of him made him feel betrayed and used.
So the most logical step, for him, would be to embrace that life of crime. Many veterans of the wars in Afghanistan and Chechnya became gangsters because… honestly, they didn’t have a lot of options and unemployment rates were high.
He puts the skills he learned in the military to horrible uses. And he earns money, more money than he could have ever imagined… and he learns that he can do whatever the hell he wants, that the world will bend to his will, if he has the ‘mighty’ dollar in his hand. That’s the discovery of a lifetime for him and shifts his perception of the world. It both thrills him and fills him with rage because as a soldier, he’s always served his country out of pride and love for his homeland. Yet at the same time an array of new experiences becomes available to him. In a world of infinite possibilities, everything is for sale for one price or another.
Let’s consider this all happened post soviet era, and the nineties were wild years for Russia. The vacuum that the Soviet Union had left, and the end of the age of heroes, was filled with hedonism and excesses where every man was out for himself and the country was on the verge of anarchy. The youth was in such a hurry to taste their new freedom, and in a time like that I assure you Vladimir couldn’t have been the exception.
Does that make him happy, though? At first, it may seem to be the case. Now he had freedom, theoretically, to do whatever he wanted and without a care for the consequences. He could give an eff about the world. He is adrift and with no clear purpose, no real projects in mind other than grabbing as much as he can… and lots of time to engage in self-destructive habits. But the truth is, he’s descended to unimaginable depths of emotional misery because nothing has meaning anymore. Money can buy many things, but it cannot buy a purpose for his existence. Like you said, he only seeks to fill the void in his soul with distractions such as alcohol, drugs, and casual sex, all the things he probably despised at some point like the proud soldier he was, because he’s got nothing left and it’s better to live fast and die young.
To him, freedom means nothing without purpose. It’s just another kind of prison.
Tbh I also need more angry emo Vladimir in my life so I feel you ♥♥♥

Aijou Karen: "one night, when she was little, Karen and her best friend Hikari went to see a play together. they loved it so much they both decided to become theater actresses together. now, Karen is attending the prestigious theater training school Seisho Academy, learning not just acting, but singing and dancing too. and she's getting better all the time. it's just as she says: "The Stage Girl Aijou Karen is evolving day by day!""
